Liveblog: Super Sunday

Gomez_Monkey

The Canadiens got a power-play goal.
They got a shorthanded goal.
And the W lifted them into 14th place.
Lemme hear you say Wooooooo!

Carey Price was very sharp to earn the shutout.

A goal by Scott Gomez would have been the icing on the gateau.

But it was not to be.

Biggest news of the day: Huffington Post reports René Angelil has bought Schwartz’s.

There goes the Plateau …

It doesn’t matter if Gomez scores! For 7 mil per season he should be a 40 goal scorer. He needs to be burried in the minors so that we can spend 7 mil on a superstar, or on 2 very good players. What a difference that would make!

  4. It’s not natural for a team to try and lose. Actually unless you’re not a man at all, losing is not an option. That’s why a luagh at people who want them to lose, it shows what kind of people they are.

Makes for great laughs though.

Shaker Heights eh, Cleveland… so you spent a year there one weekend? yuk yuk yuk

Geez Slychard, you drove two hours to Columbus on a lazy summer day? That’s quite the jaunt to see a ghost town… or did you mean the Erie PA area?

Whichever, a pretty depressing area no matter which way you go around here

    • slychard says:

@SMILER, it was a summer day to forget to remember to forget, yet you remember to forget through stories of remembering to forget. Like a US license plate… I remember to forget.

I’m not expecting the Habs to rebound and turn their season around after this game. I actually hope they don’t move up to 10th or 11th and hang around there.

It’s always nice to see games like this where everyone does their part: a nice mix of forward pressure, good PK (which is unfortunately more dangerous than their PP), great saves by Price, etc. Everyone on the same page.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose their next 3 or 4.

  10. christophor says:

meh. can’t help but want to see them win.

also, it’s not like they’re going to lose every game here-on-out

Against Pitt last season was when Gomez got his first goal of the season as well being a GWG………

lol how many times will you say that?

    • Welks says:

Play the kids. Lets see what they can do and don’t dwell on the mistakes. Sign AK for a sensable contract, looking at the available free agents there there is not much of an upgrade.

Gill, Campoli, Kaberle all available. Moen can go for the right trade a 2nd would be worth it. Play Gomez forth line minutes just to get some return on investment and buy him out next offseason.

  42. HabFanSince72 says:

People talk about trading Gill and Campoli, but why would anyone want them?

Gill is only useful on the PK, to the point where we need to dress 7 D.

    Campoli is simply not good.

I wonder if a playoff team might be talked into taking Kaberle. He is a plus and scoring a point every other game on a very poor scoring team.

  47. Bertuzzi says:

I wonder if Plekanec enjoys playing with Darche.

  48. Maybe I missed the play but #27 should be in the box, he needs the rest from the shift and Cole should on the ice PK as he’s one of the Habs hardest workers.

    Odd MOve Coach.

  49. slapshot777 says:

RC this why you don’t put players like Darche on the top two lines of a team. Pleks having a good game sets Darche up for the fourth and burying goal and instead we still only have three goals and are now killing a penalty.

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  58. danhabsfan says:

Why does Darche play on this team?
Double shift Gomez… its a 3 goal lead

  59. ffenliv says:

That right there is why Darche just shouldn’t be playing NHL-level hockey.

Not only did he miss an empty net with no one pressuring him, he even took some off to make sure …. and still missed.

  61. kerrgte says:

the key to Pierre’s succes this summer is unloading gomer. With gomer’s $7 mill of cap the team could actually improve. With him in the line-up the disappointment will continue.

Goofy stats notwithstanding, a $7 mill man has to produce points
