Canadiens drop opener 2-1

Way too little, way too late.
Brian Gionta scored on a power play to make a game of it late in the third period.
It brought the crowd to life for a mildly entertaining final six minutes.

The Canadiens were outshot 26-22 and outplayed for most of the game.

Carey Price may have been faulted for the Nazem Kadri goal that opened the scoring. But the Canadiens’ goaltender had no chance on the Tyler Bozak shot that made it 2-0.

Both Toronto goals were on power plays.

The Canadiens PP struggled until the late-game flurry.

Florida is at the Bell Centre on Tuesday.
