Liveblog: Another W; Jets grounded 4-3

160351178_slide

That’s four in a row for your mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Best thing was it didn’t come easily.
The Winnipeg Jets, who were ridding a three-game winning streak of their own, fell behind 2-0 before battling back to take the lead.
A third-period goal by Tomas Plekanec, on the deadly Canadiens power-play, was the only goal of the third period.
Carey Price, who was shaky on the first couple Jets’ goals, made huge saves down the stretch.
Canadiens penalty-kill was great late, when it had to be.

Brendan Gallagher, with a goal and an assist, was the game’s First Star.

His linemate, Alex Galchenyuk, had two assists and was Second Star.

On to Ottawa.

careful what you say about “older” ladies..:-)

  8. Don Carnage says:

    Nice reflex save by Price

  9. Rad says:

Cole with the 2 Gallys could be a dynamite offensive line. Therrien is thinking out there, not just throwing players together at random like Jacques The Juggler Martin.

  10. Mavid says:

newsflash were not the only ones that do the Ole thing..as a matter of fact the fans were singing it at the Canada/USA gold game during the Vancouver Olympics..the fans are having fun…let them be..

  11. PrimeTime says:

I wonder if Vezina would have made that save?

  12. Habitant in Surrey says:

…just spent almost 40 mind-bending minutes with an older lady trying to subscribe to RDS …she ‘wondering’ why I’m a Montreal Canadiens’ Fan and not at least a Maple Leaf fan …real difficult difficult debating with a lady of a certain age as You can’t let fly with an acid tongue I sometimes am known to use :)

Anyhow, I survived Weed Nation …cancelled Centre Ice …and listening now a la langue de Moliere en RDS :)

Looks like Price is back on his game.

Love how that Jets Enstrom #39 chokes up on his stick shaft depending on the situation eg. In his feet……

  16. Bill says:

We’ve watched the Habs take the short end of penalty calls for years now. Martin never called the refs on it. It’s time Therrien does.

Cmon Prust, thats a terrible penalty to take.

Up 1 goal and 200 feet from your net.

That really has become a copout call. Thanks to the ape in Boston.

  19. Rudy says:

Winnipeg announcers just said what I think: DD needs to adjust his game because they are all over him this year.
    Damn

  20. Adidess says:

The funny thing about the Ole song is it doesn’t matter if it’s just a happy song. If the other team perceives it as mockery and gets galvanized, or our team believes it brings bad luck, then that’s what it becomes.

I don’t believe in superstition, but if players do it might affect them one way or the other.

Hey guys, if you have a chance (and the channel) check out whats on RDS 2 right now (during a commercial)! They are showing the first televised cricket match on Quebec television! My cricket coach, Senyo, the founder of Cricket Montreal, is commentating. Be sure to take a look, thanks!

  26. otter649 says:

Does a puck deflected out of play count as a blocked shot in the case of Gorges getting in the way of a shot ?

  27. commandant says:

Markov is obviously making a HUGE difference to PP, but I think we also have to give some credit to Gerard Gallant and his coaching.

This smart PP strategy was missing last year after Muller left, and it seems like Gallant knows what he’s doing with the PP.

So while Markov is a huge part of it… I don’t think he’s the only part of it either.

I think the reason for so many penalties is that the Refs are trying to fit in 82 games of penalties in a 48 game schedule.

Renault Lavoie, the most reliable reporter covering the Habs, IMO, just announce during the intermission that Paul Kelly confirmed today that the league will expand by 2 teams in 2 years. Quebec and Brampton.
