Canadiens penalty-kill was great late, when it had to be.
Brendan Gallagher, with a goal and an assist, was the game’s First Star.
His linemate, Alex Galchenyuk, had two assists and was Second Star.

Agreed, judging by the start of these 2 teams.. the Jets have come back from 2-0 deficits in their last 3 games, I figured this game would be a 1 goal game. I’m confident that this years team has what it takes to win those..
Glad to see Eller back on the ice right after the PP goal against us. He fell down inexplicably to allow Jets possession, which then led to the penalty and the goal. Coach knew it wasn’t his fault or wants to help him…

I for one appreciate that Markov and Gorges were frank in their statements about PK. That means they’re not robots (on the surface or not) who just spew clichés even if there are issues in the dressing room.
Also, if those statements were true, it will only prevent PK from falling into complacency when he re-integrate into the team. He’ll have to work extra hard to regain his statue as a first-pair defenceman.

I read an article this morning (may have been from the Gazette) where the writer surmised that the players feel like PK gets a disproportionate level of attention on the team from both fans and media.
When cameras enter the dressing room they tend to gravitate towards Subban’s locker and he, in turn, often manages to put on a show with broad smiles and expansive answers regardless of the questions being asked.
I get that the players feel that even their wins haven’t been commented on enough because of the PK saga.
But what I don’t get is how all this is PK’s fault. Gorges and the team went to arbitration 2 years ago on contract matters. PK’s contract wasn’t the first to drag on (remember the lockout). Price contact was signed late without a lockout.
And on the popularity thing, you know what, the guy is pretty outgoing, he’s articulate, insightful, and always good for nice soundbites, in addition to being a very good player, good for him. So he should stop smiling and learn to mumble to conform with secret locker room guidelines from the 60s? I don’t know.
The veterans could have easily used their clichés on this occasion to say, ‘well, glad he’ll be here to help our team’. They chose not to. The media did what they do best, but that one is on the players.

Regarding Josh Gorges’ response about the media focusing only on one player when they are playing as a group and no player is more important than the team. That is not the same response he gave yesterday when he was asked how he felt about the two Gallys being with the team. He jut couldn’t contain his excitement about it. I am a big fan of the team but the obvious lukewarm attitude about P.K. leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
