Liveblog: Canadiens break open tight one, beat Carolina 3-0

Bourque

Three third-period goals – two within 18 seconds _ broke up a scoreless game and propelled your Montreal Canadiens to their 10th win of the season.
Brandon Prust got it going on a pretty feed from rookie Alex Galchenyuk.
Then Cam Ward looked horrible on a rising shot by Tomas Plekanec, which bounced in over the Carolina’s goaltender for Pleks’s eighth of the season, and a long J.C. Tremblay knuckler that was Max Pacioretty’s first of the season.

Peter Budaj made 19 saves for the shutout.

Canadiens had 26 shots on Ward.

Take away that last Toronto loss and we would all think the Habs were a juggernaut. Mystifying how bad they were in that game. Won four straight since, despite the theories of many insecure/homoerotic posters here that the Habs were emasculated by the Leafs brawlers.

You would think we had Semin on our side seeing how we ended up with all the joy and the smiles -)

That said, Carolina is the one left with the mess to clean up

We play tomorrow night, the Pens and Devils do not. So if we win, we will be a point ahead of both teams with the same number of games played. We’ll also be first in the East for at least one night.

    Git er done!

A healthy Habs team is a competive/winning team compared to last season’s beatup & injured team…….

  6. Danno says:

Bravo to Budaj who got the job done and then some.

This is very reassuring and will come in handy when Price needs to be rested. It will instill confidence in the team and translate into more points and a more solid finish in the standings.

That was a great team effort. I’m glad for Budaj getting the shut-out
there’s been so many negative things said about him from time to time. Great job everyone. Congrats to MT and his coaching staff. They’re doing an excellent job and the team seems happy unlike last year ….

    • otter649 says:

People like to say negative things about Budaj so they can come back later to say I told you so but when he plays well those folks disappear & have nothing to say……

    • jedimyrmidon says:

Budaj should have had a win in Buffalo if it hadn’t been for White going berserk and for Tim Peel allowing that goal even though Budaj was pushed into the net.

The Ottawa game should have been a lot closer as well (White went nuts that game too).

So he isn’t doing too bad, I must say.

  8. Nina76 says:

Good game guys..that’s the way to do it……………go FORWARD in the games ahead………..you can do it,I BELIEVE

Hockey players have the worst nicknames. The just add ‘s’, ‘ie’, or ‘er’ to their last name. They made a slight exception with Chuckie, but I think Chuckles is more appropriate with his big goofy smile. Anyone agree?

  21. Adidess says:

What kind of juggernaut is this? I don’t know what to do with all this winning. Last season left me totally unprepared to deal with a winning record coming into this year -)
