The young centre explodes with a four-goal effort, including a spectacular penalty shot.
In one game, Eller doubled his season goal output.
And your Montreal Canadiens begin 2012 in spectacular fashion.
Leading 3-2 as the third period began, the Canadiens scored three times in 41 seconds to chase Ondrej Pavelec and turn a tight game into a rout..
Needless to say, seven goals was a season-high for the Canadiens.

And AK has been great all year really.
Tonight was not JM hockey
And I loved it

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
That was so not JM hockey. And I share the sentiment.
Definitely. We kept going for it in the third. The way hockey should be player. Definitely entertaining.
Great ice-breaker for Eller. We’ll see if he keeps it going.
Any objections to the non-forward movement of the puck on the penalty shot? lol

If you watch the replay, he still has a forward motion during the spin(albeit quite slow). I get the point you’re trying to make, though.
about not putting eller out.. are you guys kidding?…the kid just tried a spinorama after already scoring a hat trick in a blowout (buried and then backflipped on a sprawled out goalie lol)….put him out on the pp and someone is likely to try and take his head off…it was a classy move if anythoing and a wise move to not put him out there….Mike Johnson is a player….he even noted it was wise to not play him….no harm playing the 1st unit in that situation as it is known league wide we are struggling on the pp so any team would do that
+1
very good post krob.
I remember in the Semis against Philly when we blew them out that game and we put our 1st pp unit out against them late when the game was already won. The Flyers were pissed and I think it came back to bite us in the ass in that series,
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”

but our pp used to be lethal….now they are trying to find chemistry and getting used to a new look. If that is a series….and we are up…you definitely don’t wake up the other team or give htme extra motivation but a team struggling, a top pp trying to find its groove…totally understandable
But you remember what I’m talking about. All the years of playing hockey or baseball I never agreed with running up a score and embarassing the opposition, it always came back to bite you in the ass. A half assed effort on a PP late in the game with a 4 goal lead is what should be done.

Great game tonight guys – especially lars, AK, Moen and what I really liked – they didn’t die in the 3rd – Good start toward the second half of the season – never say die.
I’m sure it’s been said about 100 times already, but I’m loving the goal song being changed back to what it was tonight.
That being said, Eller was fantastic. Being a younger fan, this is the first 4 goal game I’ve ever seen from a Hab, and who better than Eller to score it. A friend of mine was suggesting we trade him. Not a chance!
Gomez will never catch Eller now!
It’ll probably take Gomez the length of 2 seasons to match what Eller did in one night
Pshaw… Bruins could only score six tonight.
+ 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
Eller alone scored 66% of what the Bruins could conjure.
Dump U2 and good things happen! Now let’s dump Coldplay as the intro and we make the play-offs!
oh man, do I ever agree with that!
Cole played 26:20
tonight(nor tomorrow) is not the night for insightfull stats…..tonight we safely sing olay!!!

Conan: Almost 20 years of pitiless cumber! No rest, no sleep like other men. And yet the spring wind blows, Subotai. Have you ever felt such a wind?
Subotai: They blow where I live too. In the north of every man’s heart.
Conan: It’s never too late, Subotai.
Subotai: No. It would only lead me back here another day. In even worse company.
Conan: For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.
Cole should be a candidate for the Hart!

every win is just messing up our draft pick – this team will not make the playoffs.
I suppose you could look at it that way.
However, it’s games like these that will help build confidence for young guys like Eller, and potentially make them that much better in a few years time.
And since a lot of people seem to agree that it’ll take a few years to get out of this mess we’re in, it’d be pretty good timing.
It’s always about the negative with Adam
And after a loss you´d be here to tell us how much this team suck. FO!
HabCez…………ARE YOU CRAZY????? We know that we will not make the playoffs. you give credit where credit is due & they played a terrific game to-nite CONGRATS GUYS!!!!! Let us enjoy what we saw to-nite……..we do have some very good young players coming up look at the juniors on how they are playing. GOOD PROSPECTS…..Messing up the draft pick is a stupid remark. We will get what we can & deal whith it….. we have no control over that. CONGRATS TO THE COACH ON THE WIN…….I BELEIVE GO GUYS GO!!!!!!!
Omg Eller, please play like that again!!! Have you seen this kid after tossing the pucks?!??!? Couldn’t get enough of it!!! Well GET IT every game Lars!! Yeah!!!!!! Wow it has been a while since I’ve had tears of JOY watching my Habs play!
EL-LER! EL-LER!!!
That’s free chicken wings twice in the past 4 games. At least they are scoring for a change.
A Hat Trick plus one. Is that called a Fat Trick?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
edit.
Oh my…
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Oh my is right….
sorry, the euphoria of the game took over.
as it will mrs. eller later tonight eh HiB…
I like the 4 goals, but he should have kept 2 for next game. If he scores 4 next game, then I’ll take it.
WoW ! Does Eller ever milk the 1st star selection, lol.
Congrats!
I don’t think he was milking the first star selection as the career night…and he will go on to have an awesome career…but I am not sure he ever has another night like tonight…so milk away Lars …if he were to mutter a few French words in his interview after the game we just might have another Kovalev lovefest
A star is born!
Not putting Eller out there in the last minute of the game, while on the PP is the type of behaviour I would expect out of Martin. Brutal.
Oh well, we won, like I assumed we would
The power play needs the practice.
I guess, then again I’ve argued Eller SHOULD be on the PP.
There is a pretty good reason he probably sat Eller. I think it was for his protection. Since they started gooning it up, Gill having to fight, them cross-checking Darche in the last couple minutes, Cunny didn’t want him out there in case of possibly injury.
They need to give Lars 4 pucks to toss
Good news! In the 12 games randy has won, we out scored the opposition 13-4
Very happy for Eller! 1st Star
Plec should get a star.
Cole should get a star every night but ill give it to Moen else AK.
I’m very encouraged with CW’s line changes.. double shifting Cole with Plecs and DD’s line and also double shifting Ak on Eller and Noke’s lines..
Not a big fan of CW’s system(JM) but he did tinker with it..
feed from TSN was great (saw a lot of the ice) so we can see how habs are setting up and positioning..
Go Habs Go!
“Emelin’s the real deal.”

I wonder if Cammy taught Lars how to act after scoring, either way, I like it
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
“Yeah, Cherry and Melnick are right: we need more of that in hockey”
And that, freshmen, is what we call “gratuitous”….
disagree. it was the exact moment the point he made is most clear. the fight added nothing to the quality of the product on the ice. it actually took away from it.
so no, not gratuitous.
Anyone miss Jaro tonight?
.
Really? How can RC not put Eller out there on the PP?
six seconds left…nail biting time

GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is probably not our year!
Chat with me on Twitter @TheRealRGM81
There should be a roughing and high sticking against Stuart.
one game closer to Nail….yippee…yahoo…!!!
take your drink to the end of the bar buddy…come on now, don’t be a fool…
Hal Gills’ fighting strategy: Laugh as his opponent tries to reach his face.
Now if only they could score on the PP
Darche wants to drop the gloves. Good.
Lars has more goals tonight than Gomez the last 2 seasons
Haven’t enjoyed a Habs game like this in awhile. This is lovely.
Good One Boone. That fight made me change my mind about fighting in hockey. Not!
… Did you just Wayne’s World him?
OK, someone please call my cell and wake me up. I’m in the middle of this weird dream where the Habs are winning and Gill is in a fight.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
Uhh i called your dog answered the phone, incredible training Punkster.
that was E1
LOL!
At 6’7 Gill should learn how to fight … i think he just realized that
LOL Gill, he’s never been a fighter despite his size. He wanted no part of that.
Hal Gill
We salute you

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Gill looked like he hurt something.
I wish Hal could of landed just one shot there.
He didn’t even take one, did he?
Should have got two for … call it roughing and Thorburn five for fighting.
Wish the NHL would recognize that. Just like an instigator, but with more sense.
Well, that was pointless.

As are most fights
Gillsy just holding on.
Lars Eller impregnated thousands of women with that 4th beaut
HA HA No doubt!!
Gill?
What a week or two for Eller….gets benched…comes back witha goal….stands up in the room acknowledges his lazy backcheck in another game showing the boys he is accountable….then plays the most dominant Hab game in recent memory…..
I told ya
“Et le but!”
told me? I have been an Eller fan since the first time I saw him play…..while everyone has been on the kid for not finishing and not getting points..but he was always playing smart, responsibly…and to do that AND put up points takes time….he has his team play come first…always has and now he is finding when he can gamble and when he cannot….he has always been improving but so much confidence with the puck lately…last year he didn’t protect it well enogh but you could see his head had things right…
2006???
Eller Highwater….you knew he was coming
Everytime Eller touches the puck you can he is going with full speed.
A Star is Born
Had to step out for some bread. Did I miss anything?
nothing much…

Ahhh… a Hal Gill fight is what you must be referring to.
exactly

Nah, the usual.
Milk
Dammit! Distracted by the cutie behind the counter again!
Plex and Pk had a scrap behind their own net, not much else.
A touchdown and a field goal. Apart from that, it’s been quiet.
The funny thing is Eller gets great chances every game. Maybe this will open the floodgates for him.

Great night for Eller..The kid has broken out..I hope he continues to play at this level…
My problem is Carey Price..Is it just me or does it look very similar to 2 years ago when he wasn’t really costing us games, but isn’t doing much to help us win?
His demeanor is really bad..He is continuously fighting the puck..How many more pucks are going to squeak by him? He isn’t where he needs to be..
——————
Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
It’s just you!!!!
No, it is not just you
one good game is a break out – what about the other 120?
You gotta start somewhere.
Where were you at 22?
He was a burden to the canadian taxpayer, just like he is now.
Bobcat Bob
What horseshit — can’t you see one good thing!!!!!
A little trivia…. Does anyone know who the last Hab to score 4 goals in one game was… Cause I sure don’t!!!!!!
Jan Bulis..
——————
Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
tsn just said Jan Bulis in 2006.
Alouettes 7 – Blue Bombers 3
Cole nearly got one

at least the ladd goal silenced the even more annoying na-na-na-na chant.
I’d say the Ole-Ole-Ole-Ole chant is tops on the annoyance list + it has the uncanny ability to fire up the opposition to the point that they almost always score to tie it or win it.
The amount of people on here who thought Eller should be traded….tisk tisk..
Not a whole lot to the best of my recollection.
I agree.
Believe it, alot of people on here dont see him, or should i say didnt see him, as more than a 3rd line player.
Probably, you never know on this site.
Where’s that guy who;s a Blues fan who kept telling us they got the better part of the deal with Halak?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Noooooooo. Don’t sit on the lead. Go for more. 10-3.
Cournoyer was the last Habto get 5 goals in a game, long time ago 1972.
That was on P.K.
Waddaya doin’ PK?
Jan Bulis, 2006.
Highlight reel penalty shot goal. What a move by Eller! I hope this game is a taste of things to come, both for the remainder of the season, and for Eller.
This sort of night must make PG feel a little better. His prized acquisition showed up in a big way.

I haven’t seen a Montreal Canadiens team play so hungry with a lead before … a team that will try to put 8 on the board … a team JM has sabotaged for far too long … HAPPY NEW YEAR and NO MORE SITTING ON LEADS
MAZEL TOV ELLER!
Eller. Habs. Welcome home!
My fav players used to be Moen and Cole but from now on it’s ELLER!!!!!!!!
What a move by Eller on that penalty shot. Wow. the only bad thing is AK doesn’t get an assist because he’s the one that made the great pass to put Lars on the original breakaway.
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
Carey Price
I’m going to have a print of him in mid-spin printed and mounted. Every time they have a bad game the rest of the year, I’m just gonna look at the picture.
I’m going to cry I’m so happy!
Lars Eller can thank Jacques Martin for that. For not being there.
Yemelin too. These guys would be nailed to the bench under JM.
