If you were outside Scotiabank Place at about 10 p.m., you saw a terrified money running through an Ottawa snowstorm.
It was the one that jumped off Randy Cunneyworth’s back.
Sit Subban + Sit Eller = loss in the ‘Peg
2 points we couldn’t afford to lose.

Nothing’s guaranteed but you have to have liked the odds
There is a time to sit them, but not on the second of a consecutive -night-back-to-back that was their 3rd game in 4 nights with Hal Gill as your fall-back option

Don’t sit them on the 3rd of 3 games in 4 nights. PK chews up 24 minutes a night. No-one was capable of stepping in to replace those minutes especialy Gill the slowest human on carbon steel blades.
The whole team was deflated (exhausted) in the ‘Peg and it showed. That was was their worst game by far this season.

The Habs have played a much better game tonight than they have for some time. They just need to carry this over in the third and they will hopefully get the ball rolling towards a good winning streak.
I am not sure what the hell I am watching here. Is this bad goaltending by the Sens or are the Habs improving. One thing I do see , is they seem to be passing better. Is this every dog have their day, or has Cunneyworth got them going. The team still looks very slow and unsure.
Chris neil only fights bigger guys when he is chased down and he has no choice. He is a clown he would be an embarrassment to out team just like his is for the sens
As much as I hate Neil, a coward, he is not. He picks on smaller players most of the time, but that’s his job. He’ll also fight much bigger when he has to.
The look of righteous indignation the Neil always has just astounds me. It’s like he’s saying “how dare Subban touch me for trying to shove his goalie.”
So far so good. Hopefully we can get some momentum from tonight and carry it into Florida!

Subban with the terrible play at one end, puck goes the other way, Ottawa doesn’t get anything, puck goes the other way, Subban finishes. Pretty much the exact opposite of how PK’s season has gone so far.
The play/giveaway he committed just prior to that goal was the worst/softest play I have seen in years. He was sat for making similar plays in his two previous games as well as earlier in the season.
He needs to drink some coffee before the games and wake up
Hope rears its head. It appears like Cunneyworth’s imprint is coming through on this team. My belief is that with Martin they would have sat back at 3-1 and it would be 3-2 by now.

Ak, Gorges , our first and a prospect for shea weber ?
Maybe trading our first rounder now when its value probably is high with other gm gambling on a habs meltdown could be an alternative for a long rebuild ? It would have to be a real impact player in his twenties though

brutal call
Flop.
Here we go again.
That’s a terrible call.
Sit Subban = 1 goal
Sit Eller =1 goal
coach of the year= Cunny!
Sit Subban + Sit Eller = loss in the ‘Peg
2 points we couldn’t afford to lose.

Your suggesting they would have won if those two played?

Sometimes a message has to be sent regardless of the short term loss for the long term gain.
Mr. Biter
I hate to say it but PK is playing worse than ever tonight.
Nope, about just as bad as he did the last couple of games, only with a consolation goal.
Does anyone have a logical reason? He didn’t seem to have so many terrible gaffs last year. I know he had some but not as a regular part of his game.
You’re a cut up Ian, has anyone ever told you?
CUNNYWORTH–for coach of the year!!!
The Habs have played a much better game tonight than they have for some time. They just need to carry this over in the third and they will hopefully get the ball rolling towards a good winning streak.
Maybe all it took was having Larry Carriere stand behind the bench.

First move needed is to fire PG.

With Price in goal, anything is possible. Finishing 2nd in our division is very likely.
I am not sure what the hell I am watching here. Is this bad goaltending by the Sens or are the Habs improving. One thing I do see , is they seem to be passing better. Is this every dog have their day, or has Cunneyworth got them going. The team still looks very slow and unsure.

you guys don’t know what your talking about. Don’t like Neil but NO ONE on Habs can handle him let alone Konopka and Carkner.
Habs have no one that can fight except for Moen who is not a heavyweight- face it HABS need a fighter!
billy jackson
The Habs need a turttler who picks on non fighters and is a cheap shot artist….really?
LOL subban changed sides with gorges so he wouldn’t have to face neil
Sens have drafted well. Cowan, Karlsson, Stone, Zibanejad …. all blue chippers
Chris Neil is a coward moen will have no trouble taking care of him
Will be nice if and when we get White back in our lineup.
I’ll take the 5-2 lol
No worries Neil is a coward Travis can take care of him
Iiiii dunno..
Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness was
As much as I hate Neil, a coward, he is not. He picks on smaller players most of the time, but that’s his job. He’ll also fight much bigger when he has to.
I agree. Neil may be an annoying POS, but he will drop them with anybody. Unlike Lucic who is a coward who picks his fights.
Neil is a pimp
For the goon squad.
Neil and Avery – Twins separated at birth.
Habs need to be careful in the 3rd. Goon show coming up ..
I would play the 4th line as much as possible
In the car on my way home listening to it is torture these homers are horrible
The look of righteous indignation the Neil always has just astounds me. It’s like he’s saying “how dare Subban touch me for trying to shove his goalie.”
Price so solid!
Whew, Pleks is back … thought it might be a shoulder for a minute
So far so good. Hopefully we can get some momentum from tonight and carry it into Florida!
“And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”–Matthew 24:14
Yes I hate Chris Neil too. Cannot imagine anyone wanting this pug to come anywhere near th CH
Gill should be holding a pink slip
They’re just gonna blow it in the third again. Gauranteed
No they won’t. Guaranteed
How did we end up on the short end of the stick?
watch us get the penalty after Foligno punches Moen in the face repeatedly.
Auld gets away with a trip on Pleks.
I hate Chris Neil.
I want Chris Neil on the Habs – EXACTLY what they need

Homer guys say that the ref missed all kinds of calls on the Habs but of course call one on the sens these guys are so bad
Nerves??
It all depends on how good/bad they are against an onslaught: SHUTTIN’ ‘EM DOWN.
Been a bad year for that so far.

AK is getting abused this game without much help from the stripes. Hooked and held several times.
Soooo… lemme get this straight:
I change the email address in my profile, and my avatar disappears.
WTF?
—Hope Springs Eternal—
It’s the Gravatar thingy. Your avatar is linked to your e-mail address.
Your avatar is tied to your email account thru Gravatar.
It’s funny when I post comments in BoingBoing I have the same avatar.
Guh. Thanks guys.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
Maybe Kostitsyn thought it was Chris Lee
In other good news, Panthers have chased Reimer out of the Leafs goal.
Eller, Subby vindicated.
Cunneyworth looks the genius too.
Our cup parade starts tomorrow at the Big O, and ends at Boone’s house.
Real bad time for a shortie.
Now it’s Emmy’s turn to score one!
Great hit by Emelin.
I’m a little worried that the habs have scored their goal quota for the rest of December and January..
I’d rather have 5 goals in 1 game, rather than 5 goals spread out over 10 games.
How awful is it that the team can be up 5-2, and we’re all worried about the next goal.
Pretty awful.
This fragile team can crumble quickly, and Sens, who can score in buckets, know that. The next five minutes should tell a tale.
Don’t let up guys!
Weak D in front — stationary, just watching. Not taking out bodies or sticks. D 101.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
PK had just made a horrible lazy play to give the Sens a 2 on 1.
Hat to be a wet blanket but this game is weird.
We deserve weird to go our way for a change! Hope you Christmas was good HF72.
Very good xmas so far. Hope yours is good too.
Does his mean Gill will score next..?
No, it will be Gomez:-)
Habs’ best game of the year, yes?

Ranger game at home (4-0) was the best so far.
Even better, I was there!
Save a few for Tampa Bay
Where would this team be without DD?
Evenin’ all.
Man, I wouldn’t know whether to laugh (at his goal) or cry (at his terrible play at the blue line) if I were Randy.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
Yea that was double sided…just one question, is a 5-1 lead enough? Just asking…
Sal from the Hammer
Subban with the terrible play at one end, puck goes the other way, Ottawa doesn’t get anything, puck goes the other way, Subban finishes. Pretty much the exact opposite of how PK’s season has gone so far.
Lucky for Subbie the Sens didn’t convert on that 2-on-1. Good on Price and Emelin for playing it well.
Can we play the Senators every day?
Man am I happy for PK. He’s a warrior tonight.
are you sure??
Every mistake he makes is magnified. Good to see him get something positive for a change. Yes, I’m happy for him.
Thank god for the line changes. Love LL getting a shot with some talented players now. No way this kid should be only getting 6min of ice time.
Nice, Cammy and now PK off the schneid!
PK!! It’s been awhile we’ve seen the Habs score this many.
Great goal and nice comeback!!!
Subban scoring that goal is the worst thing that could have happend. Is he justified now?
In what?
The play/giveaway he committed just prior to that goal was the worst/softest play I have seen in years. He was sat for making similar plays in his two previous games as well as earlier in the season.
He needs to drink some coffee before the games and wake up
LOL I don’t even get finished writing my answer and P.K is whirling around in front of his net with the puck going in.
Hope rears its head. It appears like Cunneyworth’s imprint is coming through on this team. My belief is that with Martin they would have sat back at 3-1 and it would be 3-2 by now.
First they notice you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. – Mohardass Gandhabits
I was thinking the same thing. Just before he scored that goal he made a soft play that made his d-zone gaffs seem semi-professional.
PK SUUUUBBBBBBAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!
Subbang!
subby,yes
Who knew Cammy and LL wold be so good together.
Guess RC did! Score one for him!
Really loving the play of Leblanc, doing tres bon…..
Nice lines RC. (so far)
A blow-out is good for the confidence!!
Yes great looking lines!
Expect the goon show to start soon … as Sens send the “diminutive” Habs a not so subtle message
Smart play by cammalleri to recognize the man without a stick, and then that he could make that pass to LL.

Sens doing their old captain a favour?
