For the first time this season, Bell Centre fans go home happy on a Saturday night.
Goals by Brendan Gallagher, David Desharnais and, in the third period, Tom Plekanec and Rene Bourque sealed the deal.
But the win could be costly: Brandan Gallagher, chosen as first star of the game, didn’t come out to toss pucks.
Gallagher was injured during the game, as were Max Pacioretty, Colby Armstrong and Alexei Emelin.
Canadiens had a 29-19 shot advantage but were outhit 32-20, which might account for the injuries.

Habs win, Leafs win. Glass half full!
You can’t be both a Habs and a Leafs fan
Wonder if Boone gets a bonus for every 1000 post thread?
Tremblay has a column on RDS this a.m about Eller…apparently he is surprised that the kid can play!? Now he’s preaching patience with regards to young players ( um, duh!) and last year he was trading him or sending him to bulldogs.
And he gets paid for his analysis….
Good article on RDS about tonight’s win.
Gallagher looks like Cammy in that pic.
Down the article, and I am paraphrasing and translating here, Gionta says that the Habs style of play is to continually put pressure on the opponent, instead of playing back on their heels as they used to in the past.
He says that their goal is to continuously fore check and impose their rhythm from the start of the game to the end and that they are at their best when they exert pressure.
Therrien’s message.
I’m a BIG fan of the aggressive fore-check. Passive checking is a losing strategy.

So what did I tell ya’ll about Boodye? I am officially starting a new controversy – Boodye is better than Price.
Solid win (more or less).
Any news regarding Gallager? That looked like a nasty hit.
From RDS about Pacioretty and Gallagher:
Loosely translated:
“They both have upper body injuries, that’s all we know,” Therrien responded when asked. “We’ll know more tomorrow.” The Canadiens’ captain, who also had two assists, hopes to see his teammates on the ice soon. “They’re tough, I am confident that they wont miss any games,” said Gionta, who didn’t sound too concerned.
What was up with Briere’s celebration after his “goal”? He’s acting like he roofed it but the only reason it went in was because it bounced off Markov. Loser…
He is a douche.
That is the technically correct reason.^

Not to mention he fanned on his shot.
yes good to see Beleskey doing well. Knew his dad Joe while growing up in Barrie. …….. and played beer league with Joe years ago. His boy plays same style…..only much better.

Monday’s game vs the canes and Muller will be a good measuring stick for this team!
Shaker out!
Simmons and Couturier were unnoticeable tonight. I thought they were “untouchables”? Holmgren’s moves are starting to look worser each day…
Brendan Gallagher and Nail Yakupov have the same amount of points both have 5 goals and 3 assists, in the same amount of games.
Not too shabby for a 5th round pick.
Yeah, and Gally is a big (+), while Nail is a big (-).
Ducks win it.
Good to see my boy Beleskey got his third. I taught him in grade 6.
Nice for you, I taught Brad Marchand in Grade 12, can’t say I’m glad for anything he’s done.

I have sort of a confession:
I’ve had a bit of a fever lately. Last night I had a very disturbing Pulp Fiction kind of dream that involved Alexei Emelin in a major role. I’m glad he’s okay.

The best part of tonight’s game was that they didn’t collapse in an ineffective defensive shell in the third.
Going to a shoot out in Music City.
Why doesn’t AC have Eller on?
JUST KIDDING!!!
Good last two games for DD.
4 goals for DD, which is a good pace, but just two assists. Cole and Pacioretty have been shooting blanks man.

Cole looks like beer-league player that won a contest to play with Habs for a game (or a week, or a month).
Seriously, it looks like he forgot how to play hockey!
He’s saving it for the retirement league.
Dr. Recchi says Gallagher and Pacioretty are faking it.
our habs are going nowhere boys. galagher gets punched out by big leaf defenceman. nobody on habs does a thing about it. price gets run. same thing. galagher gets his head slammed into boards by schenn. habs do nothing! giroux vicious slash to the wrist of emelin. not a hab insight. giroux pulls a slew foot. habs do nothing. team will just run over the habs…… and we will have 5 6 guys outta the line up by mid way point. mt will blame injuries for the long losing streaks. bah. “the more things change the more they stay the same”

Francis Gagnon suggests a combo of PK Subban and Diaz on the PP could be the solution.
Interesting idea.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Yes, but what does Le Baron think?
Pfft those guys on rds what do they know?
;0)
not that interesting…sounds pretty last year to me.
Markov is generating tonsof cahnces and I thought the pp looked much better when it was Markov/Diaz…..I just like the puck movement better…and the way Markov can go cross seam and dives in down low. The pp had its chances….just didn;t bury.
Therrien did just what I suggested yesterday. He put Subban with Markov for a few shifts and Diaz with Markov for a few others.
if they split it that is fine too…keep them both going. With Subban the problem for me this year is teh pp breakout/entry to the zone….aside from that he has played far smarter, has cut down his big wind up and is making sure lanes are clear before firing pucks and is not afraid to rim around to allow for regroup
He’s got the wind-up under control and is hitting the net now. Major improvements on both fronts. Plus he is developing his hockey IQ.
My personal preference for PP pair: one NA player and one Euro player.
Didn’t they win tonight? Anyway they tried it last year and it was not good. PK was best with the Wiz but he’s gone…
Habs schedule this week: Hurricanes,Rangers (twice)Islanders.
Won’t be easy.
Hopefully Price gets better. Budaj was good but NYR on the road is a different story.
Gee Gee Habs! May the injuries be minor and heal quickly.
Therrien schtum on the injuries in his press conference.

I’m disgusted that no one took revenge on Schenn after the dirty hit on Gally, MB is a fool for not picking up Kassian.

Ya, but he’s got the kind of stats we need more of on the Habs :/

Just got an email from a member of HI/O who’s very close to the Habs.
According to him, Price doesn’t have the flu; tomorrow he will be part of a big trade…
I cannot divulge the HI/O member’s name…but he also told me NOT to drink the Coors, because they put saltpeter in the beer.
Tony Marinaro?
Eklund?
