Liveblog: Kings thump Devils 6-1, win Cup

Game 6 turned on a major penalty to New Jersey’s Steve Bernier.
The Kings scored three times during their five-minute power play, and that was the ballgame.
The Devils began a parade to the penalty box and never got any traction in the game.
Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis scored twice, while Dustin Brown scored the game’s first goal and Matt Greene added a late one for the Cup champions..
Adam Henrique spoiled Jonathan Quick’s shutout bid.

The Kings, who won the franchise’s first Cup, should be good for a while.

The Western Conference’s eighth seed went 16-4 in the playoffs.

They have youth at all the key positions: Quick, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner; the brilliant Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown.

General manager Dean Lombardi has done a masterful job of putting his roster together.

That’s it for hockey until September.

And with the CBA expiring, September of what year?
