Liveblog: Leafs win 3-1 – Carlyle is 2-0 against Canadiens

The Anaheim Ducks beat the Canadiens 4-1 in Randy Carlyle’s last game behind their bench this season.
In his first coaching Toronto, the Leafs won 3-1.

The visitors, who still have a shot at the postseason, were dominant after giving up an early goal to Erik Cole.

Mikhail Grabovski, who kills the Canadiens, scored the winner and an insurance goal.

A team out of the playoff hunt going into a defensive shelf in a 1-1 game against a low-quality opponent. What does that tell you?

Losing 2-1 now is a logical result

Now they are going to make gustvason look like Roy.

  12. Nina76 says:

if To wins they deserve it just look at the shots on goal by TO poor Carey with all the shots he has had to save to-nite I am not surprised that it is now 2 1 for TO…………alot of skating around by the Habs but no results….what else is new….Thank God for COLE

  13. sreuel says:

    I guess they miss Gomez

  14. novahab says:

I really don’t get the ownership or the management. At least Brurke brought in a exprience coach to change the dicrection of the team. PG brings in a rookie english speaking coach. Not like there not enough pressure on any coach of this team. This is just a another disgrace, it’s a mockery of the years of excellents of this team. Maybe some one should sit down Mr. Molson and explain the meaning of disgrace. If he watching this team night after night it’s obvious he doesn’t know the meaning.

  15. Bozo McBozo says:

    I miss Gomez!

  16. Da Hema says:

One of these days very soon, Grabovski’s career will be over. I look forward to it.

  17. Habs fan since 68… I’ve been one too since before that and I gotta back up Boone on this one. When the Habs fall back and then get into the protect mode it never works. They always give up goals and lose over 24 times this year. The 3rd period has been horrid and I feel terrible for what the good guys are going through this year. Yes a one line team and constant use of the useless is sooooo upsetting. Boone is being kind. We can’t control, don’t fore-check and rely on Price to protect what? A tie? That is pathetic….

  18. jedimyrmidon says:

These guys couldn’t spot or pass to an open teammate if their lives depend on it. Well, about 3 lines worth of players anyways. Maybe it’s the dump and chase. Passes all become dumps.

  19. HNS says:

Too bad. If PK would have hit Grabovski it would have taken a week to peel him off the boards.

  20. Da Hema says:

I have greater respect for Lucic than Komisarek.

  21. sreuel says:

And Boone should be more clear in his blogs

  22. Bill says:

    How bad are these guys??

Subban almost earned himself a nice 5-10 game suspension.

  24. Timo says:

not being cynical… honestly wondering when was the last time a line other than Cole’s scored for the Habs?

Tonight I haven’t seen a single decent presence from any other line. Truly pathetic team.

  36. First effort all game. Why can’t we fore-check? These are such basic hockey skills, are we really trying to lose every game. I’m no NHL coach for sure, but I’ve watched the game intensely for over 40 years and this has got to stop even when we’re out of the playoffs. What strategy, or non-strategy do they have? How many empty seats do they have to see?

  37. HNS says:

Did they win any face offs tonite? Doesn’t seem like it.

  38. Mondou6 says:

After the 1st period, this turned into a repeat of every other game.

  39. danhabsfan says:

Why did the Habs wait until they start losing to try in this game… could once again be… too little too late

  40. alwayssunny says:

Weber just needs to grow. Play him more. He is going to be a stud. Just like all our other prospects who are coming up the pipe. Don’t ever feel like sunshine is being blown in your ass, live in the future.

Soft play one way, bad line change the other, and the goal everyone knew was coming shows up.

They’ve played like crap since they scored what seems like days ago.

  49. HabinBurlington says:

    What a brutal line change

  50. danhabsfan says:

Here are some facts for all the Price haters (and for everyone else to):
Price leads NHL with 24 regulation losses
    – In 16 of those losses (67%), Mtl gave him the support of 1 or 0 goals.
    – when the Habs score 2 goals, Price is 5-2-3
    – when the habs score 3 goals, Price is 18-6-6
    – when the Habs score 4 or more goals, Price is 12-0-2

  51. SmartDog says:

The sucky part of this tanking/top pick thing. If we lose… I’m sad. If we win (and move up) I’m sad.

Listen to the Smart Dog. He knows his poop!

    • HabFanSince72 says:

That’s quite a psychic mess you’ve got yourself into.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

  52. ffenliv says:

Remember back when anything in the vicinity of Price’s glove resulted in a trip to the circus? Am I ever glad those days are gone.

  53. habsoakville says:

Phaneuf is crap. I would take Josh Georges over Phaneuf a million times over. Poor Pleks too.

  54. Mondou6 says:

Two worst calls of the season:

    1) The “continuation” goal that crossed the line well after the whistle blew. Has never been ruled that way before or since.

    2) The empty net hooking non-call in the last game. Again, I’ve never seen that called that way.

I swear to god, if the Habs shot the puck at an empty net, and the other team had 10 men on the ice, throwing their sticks to keep it out of the net, the refs would find some reason why it was ok.

  55. What’s the story on Carey’s mask tonight? not enough wins so can’t afford a paint job, or just superstitious?

    • Mondou6 says:

They had a charity contest, and that was the winning design. Auctioned off after for charity.

      I like it, actually.

    • RGM says:

Contest sponsored by Clorox. He’s actually wearing two versions of it. One will go to the contest winner, the other is being auctioned by Legends Depot here: with 100% of the proceeds going to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

  58. LA Loyalist says:

  59. Mondou6 says:

Price got run worse than that in the last game…no call…because evidently the other player was pushed into Price, which is exactly what happened here.

    Makes sense.

  60. slapshot777 says:

The bullsh!t calls by the biased officiating continues. What about the interference by Phaneuf on Cole. He turned him around.

An actual fight between Brian Burke & Cherry?

Whatever you want to say about Don Cherry he had a long pro & semi pro career as a fighter: Burke is 100% mouth.

Burke would would be down before he could move, even if he has 20 years on Cherry. (And I would pay to see that.)

  64. punkster says:

    BS call. Max was pushed.

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

    • ffenliv says:

Max was shoved, but was also opportunistic. Players are smart, and the same reflex that makes people embellish when shoved let Max give an extra shot, knowing he might be able to get away with it.

  65. danhabsfan says:

NHL reffing has really gone down hill… disgusting. makes the game a real sham

  66. HabinBurlington says:

Seems to me we don’t get those goalie interference calls.

  67. HNS says:

    Here comes the bullshit….

  73. Da Hema says:

If there were a just god, she would see to it that an errant puck nailed Healy right between the eyes….

  74. jedimyrmidon says:

Frustrating to see the Habs be so inept at getting the puck to an open player who will move it up the ice instead of just prolonging the Leaf cycle. Or even worse, getting the puck back and putting it down the boards so that another Leaf player can pick it up.

  75. As much as I would like to see the Habs up 10-0,
this is a great Habs- Leafs matchup.
