Sometimes you watch this team and they look pretty decent. But the truth comes out over time and they really aren’t a competitive team right now. I watch the odd game just to watch Eller, Subban, Price and today..Leblanc. The rest won’t be around when they are ready to contend for the division.
Cole missed about 3 chances to score tonight. Nice player, no finish? NO, he’ll be OK. but he’s got to start burying them as CAmmy looks like he’s joining Gionta in the “take a year” off club. Along with Markov who will probably never play for them again. You heard it here first.. Watched Diaz to see why is Martin playing the hell out of him. 24min21secs today. He makes a lot of quick decisions in his zone with and without the puck. He can’t hit worth crap, but he knew how to check effectively against most LA Kings I saw him up against. +1 in a 2-1 game. Only Gorges, who had a gritty game, played more.

this foolishness when a player breaks the other players stick a penalty is called is bs. If they add ten oz to the stick it wouldn’t happen. Just because a players chooses to use a stick with no weight or strength he gets a call if it breaks. I say it is BS!
The league is in a bad spot with the new sticks. There’s no way a ref can judge, without a details inspection of the stick at a crime lab after the fact, if it broke because of a forceful hit, or because these sticks breaks easy (even more easily if they have a chip in them), so they just call them all.
They’d rather have more goal-scoring, and players with broken sticks don’t score, and teams (most of them, anyway) with powerplays, do.
The refs totally blew the call on LA, but like the whole incident with Price against the Penguins in overtime, the angle just wasn’t right.
And the Jacques Martin job-security program keeps chugging along
