The Canadiens blew a two-goal lead … again.
But Petteri Nokelainen, of all people, beat Al Montoya with one the Islanders’ goalie should have stopped.
Hal Gill added an empty-netter.
We need to pile up some wins at home & tonight was a good start. Nice to see the team not giving up after the Isles tied it. Happy for Gill scoring his first but I still can’t get over Emelin being a healthy scratch.
Martin who was pegged as the defensive coach when he was in Ottawa, has not proven his defensive skills in Montreal. Instead we have seen our defense struggle if anything since Martin came. We’ve given up leads, we’ve watched as our defense and offense was decimated. Then we got Emelin. Like myself and many fans have been saying since before the lockout, the habs are too small and too tiny. Sure we have Souray but hey we also had Koivu. We watched as our forwards gave up the puck time after time. we watch now as Gomez and Gionta and Cammy cough up the puck time after time. But it took Emelin coming to Montreal to remind us that the rest of the NHL plays Emelin’s style. Montreal has become a haven for lazy wimpy ass style play for so long. Maybe it is time we sign more Emelins.
OK that was fun, now let’s get serious. Emelin has to go back in for the next game. Take your pick Campoli or Diaz comes out. Both were terrible tonight.
I thought Diaz was “terriblerer” than Campoli. Diaz was directly responsible for a goal by failing to make an easy clear of the zone. I would sit Subban as well. Think of Benoit Pouliot as a defenceman, and you have Subban right now.
It’s not like I am thinking just of his performance tonight. This has been going on for weeks. If he is not ready for the responsibility of 21+ minutes, then Martin should at least scale back his time.
LA: your post makes little sense. Do you mean, you want PK not to think on the ice? I don’t know what Subban’s problem is, but blaming his “Pouliotitis” and turnovers on Martin is just, well, silly.
It’s also his first game back. I would expect it to take a game or two to catch up. Something doesn’t seem right with Subban, I wouldn’t sit him but scaling back his minutes would be a good idea.
I bet PK like the rest of us was shaking his head over sitting Emelin. There are plenty of games left and not having Emelin in the lineup eats up what little physical play there is in the game against the habs as opposed to for the habs. No wonder we didn’t make it far in the playoffs. Hello, Earth to Jacques Martin and Pierre Gauthier….Emelin is the typical NHL type player now….you need to sign more Emelins so you can defend what few talented players you can actually attract to Montreal. It’s not taxes players don’t want to come to Montreal over. Its because for a long time we have become a team of wimps. Signing only those unwanted small players who are cheap but not too cheap.
It is interesting to note that Cammy’s play has dropped off most spectacularly after the day the Montreal media played up the fact that Molson stood behind Gomez in spite of Gomez’s horrible record. Maybe that has the other highly paid lazy wimps on the team wondering why work hard for the money? Why work hard and waste your body when some other even more highly paid bum like Gomez can do nothing but still get Geoff Molson’s support? Any other questions about why Cammy is playing like he is hurt? Maybe the Montreal media hurt Cammy’s feelings for his friend Gomez….maybe it’s time to bundle the two as a package….and trade their smurf sized liabilities to some other team like Winnipeg.
I would imagine the few goalies in the league who actually scored goals have more goals than Scott Gomez. Hear that Cammy? People are insulting your good friend. Maybe it’s time Gauthier ship the two mighty shrimps somewhere……
great win although they always make it a nail biter don’t they? Cammy is still looking lost and soft out there, a liability in our end.
Loved the 4th line effort tonight.
Why are ex-cement heads employed as analysts generally?
Matthew Baranaby pleaded guilty today to DUI with a wheel missing . May get deported from the U.S. He got fired from ESPN.
Marty McSorley is on Sportsnet. Tie Domi had a try-out at TSN a few years back. Barry Melrose, Don Cherry, Mike Milbury- makes you want to throw things at the TV.

Seriously, go kick rocks or run with scissors very fast or something, preferably far from here, anywhere where you could finally play with Jaro’s left huevo. It’s really gettin tiresome.

That’s the way I always thought it was. I remember a few times getting really pissed off at Bob Cole because he would hear the fans singing Ole in the second period and be incredulous as to how they could be singing so early in the game.
One time they started singing when they were still down a goal because the team was coming on so strong and I thought Bob was gonna pass out from confusion.
When I’m not watching the game, I have to switch from here to Twitter to find out what’s going on. I can never tell from Boone’s comments. Eg: does NOKIE! mean goal or You Moron.
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.
Only 4 players left without a point, Kabs gets another assist, Desharnais with 2, Price with a W, and Noke with the first star.

Agree.

JM doesn’t sit vets, and Skilsy is still useful.
I thought Diaz was “terriblerer” than Campoli. Diaz was directly responsible for a goal by failing to make an easy clear of the zone. I would sit Subban as well. Think of Benoit Pouliot as a defenceman, and you have Subban right now.
And how good would we be if Subban had broken a leg on the attempt to injure earlier in the game.
It’s not like I am thinking just of his performance tonight. This has been going on for weeks. If he is not ready for the responsibility of 21+ minutes, then Martin should at least scale back his time.
Martin is making PK think too much and it is really effing him up.
Why do we not have a defense coach? I mean seriously… let’s ruin PK, there’s a great project for JM.
LA: your post makes little sense. Do you mean, you want PK not to think on the ice? I don’t know what Subban’s problem is, but blaming his “Pouliotitis” and turnovers on Martin is just, well, silly.
Campoli had his ups and downs but he wasn’t terrible.
It’s also his first game back. I would expect it to take a game or two to catch up. Something doesn’t seem right with Subban, I wouldn’t sit him but scaling back his minutes would be a good idea.
P.K was the worst D on the ice, and Gill a close second, goal and all.
I bet PK like the rest of us was shaking his head over sitting Emelin. HA HA.
On l’antichambre the screen crawl has the analyst’s name and a little bio.
Under Stock it says: “PJ Stock, Ancien Bagarreur”
That’s flattering in and of itself, he was more of a charge and elbow and stickwork artist than a true brawler.

How about it NHL? No fighting, just hockey?

Darche, Nokelainen and Gill score in the same game.

What is disturbing is that will not happen again for a very long time. The scorers on this team need to get their acts together.

Are plekanec & Cammalleri injured?
Those two need to wake up & fast.
“Hate Bruins like a sickness”
If Cammalleri is injured, as some have speculated, then he should be put on the injured list because he’s almost useless out there.
It is interesting to note that Cammy’s play has dropped off most spectacularly after the day the Montreal media played up the fact that Molson stood behind Gomez in spite of Gomez’s horrible record. Price overplayed the puck all night. Got caught pushing off left to right on all three goals.

Patches-deharnais-cole truly number one line. Where do we put gio when he gets back?
Gill outscoring Gomez. Ugh…
Your not supposed to pick on injured people Chuck.
Seriously?
LOL
Ugh.. is putting it lightly…
Could someone please tell Boone that “Ole” is a celebratory chant not a victory chant?!
They were chanting it when it was one to one!
It’s a ‘were happy at the moment’ chant. Nothing arrogant or wrong about it. We could be like all the other fans and just cheer ‘Go (Habs) Go’ all the time…
THANK YOU ! Fer reeeal….
I think you’ll notice the majority of the media haven’t figured that one out yet.
I love it! you can always hear a bunch of drunk Habs at any time of the year chanting it in the streets and everyone joins in.

That’a 5-3 Boone
Gill lo-five’s DD’s Hi-five… kidding.

Goals by Darche, Nokia, and Gill. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t watched the game myself!

Hal “Soft Pill” Gill FTW!

Ole song is not a taunt ala nananana goodbye. Ole is a general go team we are happy with how you are playing to this point!!!!
Stop thinking of it as a taunt/gloat which it is not.
Spot on!

Gill and Nokia….who would’ve thunk?
Big Hal the scoring machine. I hope he sits next game, in favor of Emelin.

It’s hard to score when you always have one hand on your stick, waving it around like you’re trying to swat flies, cammi donna.
He thinks he’s on Battle of the Blades…
Why is Cammalleri still on the ice in the 3rd? Martin needs to play Eller, who is much better defensively.
ak46 going to get a good offer from another team.
Great steal by AK after Plekanec politely refused the invitation to grab the loose puck
The “Ole” song should be banned. It’s only a one goal lead, and we’ve already given up a two goal lead today.
Whoever starts to sing ole! This early should be kicked out immediately
Don’t sing the tie song now!
Doomed! Olays are chanting……

I could of swore I just heard you singing….
well, he is an idiot…
After the first period he played, why was AK’s ice time cut so dramatically? Must be The System.
Too many guys crashing into the boards tonight.
Nokie might have just saved Martin’s job. Wait, does Martin have tenure?
Prevent defense prevents you from winning. And Nokie scores!
How do you sit back like that game after game with the same result and not do something different. Any coach worth anything would change it up!
because this coach ain’t worth anything!
did you guys not see the way he subbed AK for Nokia?
Islanders are a joke of a franchise lol
I know he makes mistakes too, but the defence without Emelin is softer than vanilla yogurt.
.
the low-fat runny kind that doesn’t freeze well… poor attempts at humor and at metaphors are in vogue here…
I was embarrassed and deleted, sorry bud. BUt I do agree with your original post.
Damn! All that time they had Plek on the point during the power play it could have been Nok…
Noki had a run at that from somewhere back on Rene Levesque. A cannon.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
