What ever happened to the grinders? The guys who could intimidate physically and by play? Sorry – until this kind of play returns, the Habs will flounder, win, lose, lose, win. Get no where.
Hey a win is a win, right…we are hurt and need to get some guys back. Point is we are team that depends on the D, and if we don’t get the D we lose. They showed up tonight, Emelin I think deserve way more ice time, but they are what they are. a dangerously incompetent team.

My hope is that if Martin is to be replaced that it is done at the end of his tenure and not mid-season in a panic move. I don’t like his hockey or his coaching style so I do hope that this is his last year. I haven’t a clue who should replace him because I don’t follow coaching in the Q.
However the part of me that resigns itself to the thought that the Habs are obstinate thinks that he could very well be extended.

The look on JM’s face clearly read: “Whaaaa… I don’t have another forward I can put on the ice for 45 minutes per game….whadd’ll I do…?”

I hate the handling of Emelin by JM. It’s absolutely ridiculous. He had at least 4 hits in the game. When Weber gave the puck away and caused a breakaway for O’Sullivan, it was Emelin who got back to cause some trouble and O’Sullivan failed on the attempt.

JM doesn’t have much tolerance for Russians. I can’t stand to even look at him when I’m watching a game. His coaching record is extremely deceiving.

WTF? DD had 20:02 in ice time?????? He was 13 and 5 in the face of circle for 72%. Lars Eller was 6 and 9 at 40%. I guess that explains his 16:44. But how he does not get an assist on the winning goal is perplexing to me.

Glad we won, was actually a pretty decent game to watch. Can someone explain to me JM’s logic in benching Emelin in the third & giving useless Diaz a regular shift?
I like our team a lot & we’ll only get better when our injured players(excluding Gomez) come back. But we have NO CHANCE IN HELL with Martin as our coach. He’s a useless bum.

Because Diaz is not useless and he works much harder then Emelin. Emelin didn’t play too well. Both Weber and Diaz played a bit better.
JM is not giving Emelin a fair shake. Diaz cost a goal against the Oilers that made it 2-0 when we were pressing to tie the game, he cost us another tonight that could’ve been a loss. Why Is Diaz allowed to F-UP but Emelin can’t? If you think this team is going far with Diaz and the DB behind the bench, good luck.

Any given night ANY team can win… except columbus… its gonna be hard to make the playoffs. We need markov and campoli back in the line up cause our D is just getting by. If not, Price has to make HUGE saves night in and night out. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Phoenix isn’t a small team and they’re getting good goaltending from Smith. Good on the guys for getting ‘er done.
I get pretty tired of listening to all those people wanting to get a trade miracle, fire the management, fire the coach, and trade for better players while lowering the cap hit when there is no realistic way to improve on the situation right now. Its a good team. There are some injuries. The team will get better, and others will sag.
It would be nice to have a dominant power centre who dishes up perfect passes, hits like a pile driver, wins 65% of his face-offs and scores 52 goals a year while helping two wingers score fifty each.
But he ain’t available.

Can’t understand why there were so many on here after seeing the Habs’ starting line-up due to injuries and saying they didn’t have a chance in hell to win this game. But now that they won with 3 of their top 9 starting forwards injured, they are still getting no respect. WTF is up with that?

People complaining how Montreal played & won – How about The Oilers they played like crap (not their goalie) but beat the Habs.It’s about time a few breaks or luck went Montreal’s way as they were missing #13 & #46 as well as #14 for a short while……..
You obviously don’t understand what is the criteria on here. If the Habs win a game that they are outplayed, they suck and are only lucky that they have Carey( even though he was a 5th overall draft pick) who won the game. If the Habs completely outplay a team and get stoned by a goaltender, they suck and can’t put the puck in the net. You have to wake up and know that the H I?O community knows hockey
