Josh Gorges doesn’t score often.
But when he does …
His first of the season produced a hard-earned road W for the Canadiens.

Need size up front. Time to make a trade!
No size up front..? Or nobody wants to hit the corners, cycle the puck and set up a play! The latter, i believe. Cole has good speed and makes the hits. But, who else?! Pecky is only an open ice player, loses the puck anytime he’s along the boards. Cami, and Gionta are the same. Never mind the deplorable work in the tough areas as Gomer displays = lack of toughness. What ever happened to the grinders? The guys who could intimidate physically and by play? Sorry – until this kind of play returns, the Habs will flounder, win, lose, lose, win. Get no where.
Hey a win is a win, right…we are hurt and need to get some guys back. Point is we are team that depends on the D, and if we don’t get the D we lose. They showed up tonight, Emelin I think deserve way more ice time, but they are what they are. a dangerously incompetent team.
Where are Gionta, Cammi, & Cole? Shoule be 100 goals between U!!!
And on the 8th day the Lord said…..let there be the Canadiens
My hope is that if Martin is to be replaced that it is done at the end of his tenure and not mid-season in a panic move. I don’t like his hockey or his coaching style so I do hope that this is his last year. I haven’t a clue who should replace him because I don’t follow coaching in the Q.
However the part of me that resigns itself to the thought that the Habs are obstinate thinks that he could very well be extended.
I had to laugh when Pleks went down.
The look on JM’s face clearly read: “Whaaaa… I don’t have another forward I can put on the ice for 45 minutes per game….whadd’ll I do…?”
—Hope Springs Eternal—
lol. Im just too happy Pleky came back, he’s too important to our boys.
I hate the handling of Emelin by JM. It’s absolutely ridiculous. He had at least 4 hits in the game. When Weber gave the puck away and caused a breakaway for O’Sullivan, it was Emelin who got back to cause some trouble and O’Sullivan failed on the attempt.
facebook.com/allaboutthehabs – like the page!
JM doesn’t have much tolerance for Russians. I can’t stand to even look at him when I’m watching a game. His coaching record is extremely deceiving.
“Hate Bruins like a sickness”
WTF? DD had 20:02 in ice time?????? He was 13 and 5 in the face of circle for 72%. Lars Eller was 6 and 9 at 40%. I guess that explains his 16:44. But how he does not get an assist on the winning goal is perplexing to me.
EDIT: Thanks for the correction. Tired. Day off tomorrow but still need sleep. 😉
Glad we won, was actually a pretty decent game to watch. Can someone explain to me JM’s logic in benching Emelin in the third & giving useless Diaz a regular shift?
I like our team a lot & we’ll only get better when our injured players(excluding Gomez) come back. But we have NO CHANCE IN HELL with Martin as our coach. He’s a useless bum.
Because Diaz is not useless and he works much harder then Emelin. Emelin didn’t play too well. Both Weber and Diaz played a bit better.
JM is not giving Emelin a fair shake. Diaz cost a goal against the Oilers that made it 2-0 when we were pressing to tie the game, he cost us another tonight that could’ve been a loss. Why Is Diaz allowed to F-UP but Emelin can’t? If you think this team is going far with Diaz and the DB behind the bench, good luck.
Any given night ANY team can win… except columbus… its gonna be hard to make the playoffs. We need markov and campoli back in the line up cause our D is just getting by. If not, Price has to make HUGE saves night in and night out. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
Habs won and that’s all that matters right now. Hopefully we get a couple of bodies back for Saturday. Go Habs Go !!!!!!
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
We put another 2 points into the bank, brilliant coaching wins another!
Interesting dividing line on here. On one side are people glad the Habs won. On the other side are people angry the Habs won. Perfect example of the glass half full, half empty concept.
Well I’m happy. The team battled… and won! I’ll take it.
Phoenix isn’t a small team and they’re getting good goaltending from Smith. Good on the guys for getting ‘er done.
I get pretty tired of listening to all those people wanting to get a trade miracle, fire the management, fire the coach, and trade for better players while lowering the cap hit when there is no realistic way to improve on the situation right now. Its a good team. There are some injuries. The team will get better, and others will sag.
It would be nice to have a dominant power centre who dishes up perfect passes, hits like a pile driver, wins 65% of his face-offs and scores 52 goals a year while helping two wingers score fifty each.
But he ain’t available.
see my blog at http://noroomatthedump.blogspot.com/
Yes but if he was available, would we give up PK, Patches and a first rounder for him ?
“Et le but!”
Nice one Josh! Also, Moen the scoring machine, great to see him getting goals! Glad Pleks wasn’t hurt, good news all around. Not the most exciting game but we’ll take the 2 points.
GO HABS GO!
Can’t understand why there were so many on here after seeing the Habs’ starting line-up due to injuries and saying they didn’t have a chance in hell to win this game. But now that they won with 3 of their top 9 starting forwards injured, they are still getting no respect. WTF is up with that?
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
We where not missing Any players that actually produce, so whats the big deal? its an excuse not the reason. Our coaching is terrible.
I can maybe see your point with Gomez, but knowing that Cammi and AK were out, I think maybe you should rethink what you are saying.
People complaining how Montreal played & won – How about The Oilers they played like crap (not their goalie) but beat the Habs. It’s about time a few breaks or luck went Montreal’s way as they were missing #13 & #46 as well as #14 for a short while……..
You obviously don’t understand what is the criteria on here. If the Habs win a game that they are outplayed, they suck and are only lucky that they have Carey( even though he was a 5th overall draft pick) who won the game. If the Habs completely outplay a team and get stoned by a goaltender, they suck and can’t put the puck in the net. You have to wake up and know that the H I?O community knows hockey
Habs win! Loser fans lose……
How many signatures on a petition would it take for Molson to give PG the go ahead to FIRE MARTIN?
“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing”
Like to see more of Emelin. (Give him a chance at least)
Is it just me or is Max Pac a little tentative.
Let’s start another winning streak!!
No winning streak please, means we miss the playoffs because we will lose twice as many as we win with JM as coach.
I agree about Max, somethings off there, I hope it’s just his wrist and he recovers fully soon but IDK.
Keep Hope Alive
Tentative? He had 5 shots and should of had a goal.
So they score in OT which means that we have people on here planning a parade instead of if they lose in a shootout and everyone wants them to tank.
Go Habs Go
400 % correct
So many – so wrong!
AH that felt good. Thank you Gorges. Love to see the team like that, we needed it!
Not going to win many fans in Phoenix with that spectacle.
Just caught the overtime. The shots were high, was it not a good game?
Yes & No!
Yes, we won!
No, Martin will still be here!
Nice play by Eller.
Should have got the assist. He carried the puck 160 feet down the ice, bulls through three players and knocks the puck back to Gorges.
I was shocked that he was out to take the O-zone face off.
He took the second most o-zone draws, only DD had two more and DD won 72% tonight.
So how much did Emz play in the 3rd?
I dont like this win, its not good for the team, because PG is gonna think this masterpiece of a chess match game was all because JM is a genious.
Tonight we finally got a break. maybe our luck is changing. Gnight.
Number 25 in 2012!
A nice gritty, grindy, chippy road win and two points
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Nice to see the 70% of the building that was Hab fans rewarded for their trip to the desert.
Good for Josh, especially after taking that elbow.
OR something worse!
Finally a post where the puck actually deflects into the net
how much does emelin’s lack of english/french have to do with him being used sparingly this year? had markov been healthy from the start, i feel we’d see a lot more of emelin.
I do wish Markov was here to help him out and mentor him during games.
I think we lead the league in posts hit.
That Gorges guy would be useless on the PP.
Thank you Josh, Goodnight.
Martin just signed till 2020….nice win!
PUCK PUCK PUCK … Martin is safe for another half dozen games!
HELL YEAAAAAH!! BANG!
GO HABS GO! FIRE MARTIN!
Weber can fire the biscuit
Full Breezer 4 Life
YUP, wouldn’t be a Habs complete game without a post!
Diaz almost cost us the game again
I’m getting sleepy, very sleepy, and it’s not because it’s late.
Gill needs to score now.
Why is Gorges complaining? not allowed to hit people anymore, cleanly?
No, didn’t you watch the Rangers game?
Please, can we in the least not let the Laffs finish ahead of the habs.
