Liveblog: Tough loss

DDCamm

Your Montreal Canadiens blew a 3-1 lead and lost 4-3.
Marc-André Bergeron and Vincent Lecavalier scored third-period goals, and the Canadiens were beaten for the 14th time in a game they led.
Mathieu Garon was spectacular.
Carey Price wasn’t.

The loss dropped the Canadiuens into 12th place in the Eastern Conference … and Carolina is getting close.

    Don’t blame the Refs people.

Blame these guys for ONCE AGAIN not doing what NEEDS TO BE DONE IN THE 3RD PERIOD to finish off the other team.

    *sigh*

Put the “tank” back on the tracks. Beat the Sens and feelin’ kinda’ sporty? You must be joking. This team sucksssssssssssssssss!

  4. SlovakHab says:

    Nice game, boys!
Good to see how much you want it, against a depleted defense!!

  5. VancouverHab says:

    Yep: bad bad by Cole.

  6. Jim Edson says:

    Couple of softies!

Vintage bad Price, on his knees before the shot!

    I though he outgrew that!

What does the Commissioner of the NHL do?

In short, a league commissioner is the action man for the Board of Governors.

They tell him what they want done and he works to make it happen through his subordinates while making sure that individual franchises play by the rules.

******** Translated if you haven’t won the Stanley Cup in 40 years your NHL team is becoming irrelevant in a sports mad city long behind MLB, NFL and NBA teams, you just tell the commissioner(who you gave a new contract at 7 plus million per) to make it happen and the rules are bent sufficiently to action the command.

  7. Bill says:

No review for that one. TB has dominated since gut-check time unfortunately …

I’m putting the blame on Boone jinxing us with the comment about feeling better entering the 3rd with RC than JM.

  11. Mavid says:

i was gonna say why the hell do people pound on the glass…gotta be one of the stupidest things i have ever seen

second place is just the first loser

  12. Big Bird says:

Moen is -3 this game and Subban is -2. Pick it up Les Boys…

  13. idle says:

So were giving up two goal leads a result of Martin’s sitting back system or a result of the players on this team not being able to close out games?

  14. gumper says:

Ref blew the whistle about ten times on that debacle in front of the net. Wonder what would have happened if the puck subsequently trickled in.

  15. Mondou6 says:

So when the referee blows the whistle now, what exactly does that mean? Apparently, anything that happens after the whistle still counts, so why should either team stop when they hear the whistle?

  16. Toe Blake says:

The Candiens should just throw in the towel on competing in the NHL. They are no better than a group of reenactors in early July in Southern Pennsylvania wearing Confederate uniforms trying to revive spirits at Gettysburg!

  17. Muckbringer says:

    fn carey…

“he does these things not because they are easy!!!!”

  18. Propwash says:

I’d call the 2nd goal soft, the 3rd one, judging by Pricey’s reaction, he didn’t see it coming until it was basically past him.

Now THAT was a nice save, Carey!

EDIT: hey, shouldn’t someone be covering those guys in the GD slot??

Gee I’m so proud to be cheering for the same team as the ape in the front row wearing number 79 hammering on the glass whenever the puck is near him.

  21. showey47 says:

maxpac missing that point blank chance before they tied it up looks pretty big now.

  22. Bill says:

Garon has made some great saves, I don’t like it.

What absolute bull#%$ – The Habs better win this game or they should play it under protest. Chris Lee could not ref a pee wee game properly. When is the league going to smarten up????

  25. Big Bird says:

I really like that defence man Emelin…

  26. ffenliv says:

What a beauty of a hit by Emelin. Boom!

  27. HabinBurlington says:

Emelin just loves to crush people.

  28. durocher says:

Surprised Toronto didn’t review that hand pass call

  29. Habfan4lfe says:

How was that a goal and not high stick? Why did Price twitch on the shot. Seemed to me it was redirected by a high stick. That makes no sense. Something smells bad on that goal.

  30. Habsolutely says:

if this happens Saturday night you guys will hear me screaming obscenities on your TV’s.

  31. Bill says:

Looking frustrated, not sure that’s the right attitude … they need to focus and get the next goal. Carey needs to tighten it up … could’ve had both of those last two Toronto goals.

  32. HabinBurlington says:

Would be nice to see AK/Plex get something going

  33. Bertuzzi says:

Ah, good. They don’t have the lead anymore. Price should be solid now.

  34. Toe Blake says:

Just get the miserable loser point and move on, er I mean tank!

  35. Bill says:

This will tell us what they’ve got. Whole lot of adversity this year and this is the time to make your stand! Come on Habs!! Keep cool and get it done.

  40. JohnBellyful says:

Quelle surprise (or something like that)

  41. durocher says:

Way to defend there, Cammy. Block it with your hand or take one for the team. Don’t duck like a guy who has two toiletry bags.

  42. Mavid says:

    of course

second place is just the first loser

  43. RGM says:

If St. Louis touches the puck and it’s over his head, it’s still good because he’s too short to reach the crossbar.

Anyone got a link to the other reviewed goal? I’ve been watching Canada vs. How-Many-Can-We-Score, and missed the first and second lightning goals.

  49. J Dub says:

I think this one is a high stick.

  50. Danno says:

Time for the make up call

That was a high stick for sure

  62. Big Bird says:

When was the last time the Canadiens had 3 players on the Canadian WJC team with Beaulieu, Bournival and Gallagher? The last time I can remember they had more than 1 player on the team was Price and Chipchura.

  63. VancouverHab says:

For we polloi, why is it a “priority” to get Campoli out of Montreal? Why the urgency?

  64. deuce6 says:

OK, WTF is with the officiating in this league? Does one have a different set of rules than the next? How many times were we burned on an exact same play only to get an explanation that totally is contradicting to the one we got tonight? Hypocrites, to say the least..

The refs simply make up the rules as they go along…

Conan: Almost 20 years of pitiless cumber! No rest, no sleep like other men. And yet the spring wind blows, Subotai. Have you ever felt such a wind?
Subotai: They blow where I live too. In the north of every man’s heart.
Conan: It’s never too late, Subotai.
Subotai: No. It would only lead me back here another day. In even worse company.
Conan: For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.

    2) White will likely go down to Hamilton in order to get back in shape!

  67. novahab says:

I can’t believe what I am reading. Are you kidding me a good goal. How many times over the years this has happen to us. No GD way can you pick and choose a quick whistle. A whistle is a whistle no F&^% goal fired that idoit.

  68. badbalance says:

Maybe Habs management could get an explanation for the goal from the NHL after the game.

  69. Big Bird says:

Our team will persevere in spite of the officiating.

  70. Beaulieu got an assist on Canada’s 7th goal.
