A note to fans of the liveblog: There have been some problems with the HIO site being a bit slow during games this season due to high traffic. The Gazette and our HIO technical staff are aware of the problem and we’re working on a solution to fix it.
There were 38 seconds left in overtime when Andrei Markov scored on a Canadiens power-play to secure a hard-fought 4-3 win.
The Canadiuens had blown a 3-1 third-period lead.
It was Markov’s fourth goal of the young season.
The Devils came into the Bell Centre as the only undefeated team in the Eastern Conference.
Martin Brodeur had given up only three goals through his first three starts.
BIG win.
What a difference a year makes:
It took the Canadiens 10 starts to secure their third win last season.

Mind you the last two goals displayed numerous break downs in play on the Habs side.
I can see that on the last one, but the powerplay goal he made the pad save coming from other post and it was then chipped in, I don’t follow?
He left a huge gap between his skate and the post on the PP goal. It wasn’t soft per se but had he moved over to the post rather than leave that gap the save would’ve been made. Nobody’s perfect. Can’t save them all.
Cole has to cover him in front of the net…. watching.

He and Eller both appear to be off. Even the forecheck they did just prior to puck getting out of jersey zone, they just seem out of position

First time watching the Habs this year..they look snappy. Definately playing with a little swagger and confidence in comparison to many games last year. But they will be sorely tested with this condensed schedule.Better get Cole et al scoring soon.

YES!!! Glachenyuk has proved himself as NHL caliber this game, Gallagher too! Goals from White AND Prust! Playoff race, here we come! I was starting to see the old lead conservation in the 2cd period, Therrien really lit a fire underneath this guy for the 3rd! Good team spirit.

Should be Plekanec in my opinion. He’s our best all-around forward if you take “veteranship” into account. Cole is a baby, and he might retire, ya know.
The Habs have had a hard time finding secondary scoring since quite a while now. Always one line. Now the Habs have secondary, tertiary and quaternary scoring.

If this was last year, Eller would have been traded between periods, Colby would be on the 1st line, Kaberle and Bouillon would be running the power play, Gallagher would now be benched, the Habs would be lined up on their blue line repelling wave after wave of Devil forays until they collapsed with exhaustion in the early part of the 3rd turning their 2-1 lead into a solid 4-2 loss.

18 years old, I think more than 3 games at center may be needed to make that move.

What level of competition did DD play against last season?
Were they sheltered, while Plekanec and partially Eller played against top lines?
I think with Therrien’s way of coaching and his style probably the reason why Patches, DD, Cole are having a hard time playing. They need to get used to the system. Too bad, its only a shortened season to do some fixing.
DD is simply coming crashing down to earth. He had a fluke season last year, playing with team’s best wingers. 1 sole skill (passing in his case) is not enough in NHL.
I tell you what I am loving Bourque. What a difference from last year. He is working like a dog. Not paying off for him yet tonight but the effort is undeniable.
Oh ya, remove DD line from PP, insert Chucky’s line.
For a $3.3M, his current level of play is actually a really good value.
Yea I’m a big fan when he plays like this. I’d vote him 3rd star so far tonight
