Liveblog: Happy 2012!

Travis Moen

Nowhere to go but up, right?
Hey, anyone out there?

That’s 15 blown leads this season.

Brutal … and depressing.

  1. otter649 says:

All these one goal losses are making me thirsty (Kramer)……..

  2. theox_8 says:

I dont even get mad or upset anymore when they lose, i just mix another drink

  3. HardHabits says:

I think somebody needs to fire Geoff Molson.

  4. Rad says:

I wonder how Scott Gomez enjoyed this game, watching from the comfort of his living room couch, and collecting a check of around $100,000 for his troubles for the one game.

  5. arrow says:

Disappointment Again! Loved the Emelin hip check, didn’t like the late hit on Eller, loved the the consistent play of my hero Gorges, hated that we lossed again. HAPPY NEW YEAR! All the best in 2012. Being a HABS fan is a LOVE/HATE Relationship!

  6. WindsorHab-10 says:

This edition of the Habs is an embarrassment to Canada.

  7. Mondou6 says:

    My proposed starting lineups:

Who Cares – Who Cares – Who Cares
Who Cares – Who Cares – Who Cares
Who Cares – Who Cares – Who Cares
Who Cares – Who Cares – Who Cares

    Defense Pairings:

    Who Cares – Who Cares
    Who Cares – Who Cares
    Who Cares – Who Cares

Guy who lets in a softie every game
    The backup

Some guy who can speak French

  8. gerry says:

Girly Plekanec contract’s runs through the 2015-16 season, terrifying news if he becomes the new Gomezzz…

  9. HardHabits says:

The play-offs are still in reach. Once this team gets healthy they have what it takes to win the Cup now. Forget missing the play-offs or tanking for a high pick. What will that bring? Look at the Islanders and Blue Jackets. What have they got?

Tanking is for losers. Don’t forget the Habs took the Bruins to game 7. Once Gomez’ Fenwick regresses to the mean the Habs will puck possession and out chance the opponents to victory. That’s how a championship team is built.

The Flyers are not that good either. No way the Bruins can continue to win the way they are doing for much longer. Soon they will regress to the mean too. All these trends are unsustainable.

You fans should be ashamed of yourselves thinking the year is over.

  10. The Dude says:

So are we fairweatherd fans or are the 2011-12 Habs fairweatherd ?

  11. WindsorHab-10 says:

    Thank you Bob Gainey.

  12. gerry says:

Bell Centre will be full again Wednesday night thus Molson will uncork the champagne without breaking a sweat.

  13. wild flower says:

    Jacque Martin’s legend is growing

  14. novahab says:

They showed PG high up in the stands. Well PG if you were smart ,you jump because when you get back they are waiting for you with a rope.

  15. Pucknut says:

If they could have played the first 59 min like the last 1 they might have won.
But, I guess, If my aunt had B$$lls she would have been my uncle

  16. gerry says:

Happy new year, fefans, you can kiss the playoffs goodbye!

  17. Nine1one says:

    My Lines Going Forward

    Cole Eller Patches
    AK Pleks Gionta
    Cammy DD Moen
    Darche Nokes Blunden

    PK Gorges
    Kaberle Emelin

  18. JasonM says:

So how strong is this upcoming draft?

  19. idle says:

The ending was fun. I mean apart from how it ended.

  20. Les Canayens says:

If only they play all 60 minutes like the last 20 seconds of the game.

☞ I can’t really hear what Jeremy says, because I’ve got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears.☜

  21. wild flower says:

It takes him a while to wind up.

  22. Mondou6 says:

    We are horrible.

Heading toward being the worst team in the entire NHL.

No offense, no defense, no goaltending, no size, no heart. WTF do we have? Nothing. Total abject crap. Disgusting.

  23. bellcentre hotdog says:

Boone … Yellow is mellow … Brown goes down.

  24. The Dude says:

I thought we were awesome in the last 7 secs of the 3rd,lol

  25. HABZ24 says:

fire cunnyworthless and jughead gauthier now!

  26. JasonM says:

Kudos to Cole for keeping this one close.

  27. wild flower says:

Almost some Forum ghosts in Florida. Nope.

  28. HabFab says:

    Unfreaking real !!!

  29. bellcentre hotdog says:

RDS had a great stat after the first goal … Habs are 30th in the NHL when scoring the first goal.

    Win percentage .444.

  30. JFriedman says:

    get out the paper bags…

  31. Rad says:

Imagine this team without Erik Cole this year.

  32. Mondou6 says:

    Great. Meaningless goal. Whee!

  33. Boomer says:

i like PK’s skill, but i don’t like him instigating “a la marchand” then not backing it up by diving to the ice and assuming the fetal position. did anyone else notice that at the end of the period?

    Boom baby!

  34. Rad says:

The token last second goal that means nothing.

  35. WindsorHab-10 says:

    Why offend pussies?

  36. twilighthours says:

Anyone left out there who still thinks we can make the playoffs?

  37. Sal says:

Great road trip,,,blow it up; Price is ordinary.

    Sal from the Hammer

  38. Mondou6 says:

In all seriousness, can anyone remember the last time we scored an empty net goal?

Even when we win, we don’t score them.

  39. WindsorHab-10 says:

First player to be moved: USELESS PLEKANEC

  40. TM357 says:

I think getting rid of Martin isn’t enough!!!

  41. Bertuzzi says:

Subban and Plekaneks!! Heros right to the end!

  42. wild flower says:

    Gionta? Gomez? Markov?

  43. Danno says:

    We’re done

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  44. danhabsfan says:

Who was the dumby on the point

  45. JasonM says:

    You were saying Mattyleg?

  46. Habbu says:

Waiting on the inevitable……..and there it is! And the year ends just the way it probably should……..not with a bang but with a whimper… safe everyone….

  47. Da Hema says:

I just hope when the Canadiens finally get a first- or second-overall draft pick this year, they don’t select someone like Alexander Burturlin. Apparently other general managers were openly laughing when Montreal selected him in 1999.

  48. Rad says:

And the Habs are left to make feeble complaints to the refs in the waning minutes of the game.

  49. WindsorHab-10 says:

  50. J.J. of Turku says:

What’s wrong with the world? I want to celebrate a win! C’mon guys, you have still time left.

  51. WindsorHab-10 says:

    Go ahead Boone. Shoot him.

  52. PrimeTime says:

Winnipeg fans are awesome…..great to see!

  53. JoeC says:

So Price has to pitch a shutout or its his fault…

Ya, cause Price is terrible, hes the reason we are losing this year, keep blaming him

You people that blame Price for being “normal” dont watch hockey, dont know ANYTHING about the sport, and should go watch baseball.

This team is a bunch of overpaid underachievers, AND a team that has the WORST defence in the league, THE WORST. When Gorges is one of our best, we have a HUGE problem.

Stop blaming 1 player when this team is full of shitty players.

  54. Rad says:

As I’ve said before, Pleks is a good #2 Center on a winning team. Eller is our #1 Center for the next 10 years.

    • RGM says:

10 years? Is Mike Milbury going to be the GM that replaces Gauthier?

GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is probably not our year!
Chat with me on Twitter @TheRealRGM81

  55. Hoegarden says:

As soon as Fla started to goon it up, Habs were out of it. I wonder if Gauthier understand this !

  56. Larry says:

Islanders won today. Early on I didn’t take seriously those who said we should play for a lottery pick. I thought they would come around. However I think now it is highly probable. We are getting worse as the season goes on and the Isles and Carolina are getting better.

  57. topher5468 says:

AK is asleep at the wheel

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  58. RGM says:

Yay for 67 foot dump-ins! Way to boost the shot total so that it looks like it was a close third period!
GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is probably not our year!
Chat with me on Twitter @TheRealRGM81

  59. danhabsfan says:

All you Price haters (Have you ever played goal?).
Do you expect him to always get a shutout and score the goals. This team is not scoring… without scoring you can never win.

  60. The Dude says:

That’s why you don’t let soft goals in the 3rd Einstein……….

    • RGM says:

And yet 18 other guys that have the ability to produce a goal can’t muster 10 shots in 20 minutes.

GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is probably not our year!
Chat with me on Twitter @TheRealRGM81

  61. WindsorHab-10 says:

This team is a disgrace to this fine jersey.

  62. bellcentre hotdog says:

Unfortunately Boone … I foresee an empty netter …

  63. Rad says:

Jeeze, Pleks had time to corrall that rolling puck.

  64. Rainrocket16 says:

End this damn year already…I can do without Plekanec as of late…plays like a schoolgirl!

  65. The Dude says:

Can’t get out of 2011 fast enough! Happy New Year tout monde!

  66. Mattyleg says:

Pleks was for a long time the best player on the team, and did it all. Scored, passed, killed penalties…
Now he’s having a rough patch and some people are crapping all over him.

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  67. WindsorHab-10 says:

I have better odds of winning the 649 than the Habs tying it.

  68. Rad says:

Can we get Mats Naslund to come out of retirement?

  69. Mondou6 says:

Bright side: Every loss like this is one game closer to the firing of PG.

Unless you believe that this collection of mediocrity is a Cup-contender, then that’s a good thing.

  70. wild flower says:

As a Winnipeg based Habs fan, it is more and more challenging not to watch the Jets instead of Habs, especially, when they are taking the Leafs out of the playoffs. Kane is becoming a star.

Most of AHL turned NHL coaches (Noel and Cunnyworth) are taling about the need to play a north – south game because it is too fast with too many give aways when the play goes east – west. The Habs need a few more horses to stick with north – south. Cole and Pacioretty are a move in the right direction.

  71. tote-road says:

“3P 8:00 Kaberle and P.K. are like Fred Astaire and Roseanne Barr”

I’m pretty certain this is worse than Barch’s smear.

  72. CharlieHodgeFan says:

If the Habs could score three, Price giving up one bad goal wouldn’t interest the emo crowd. I know, if, if, if – but it’s not an unreasonable expectation. The lack of finish is agonizing.

  73. WindsorHab-10 says:

Right now the whole team is gutless puke.

  74. TM357 says:

    Penalty killed
