Liveblog: The CH juggernaut

After a scoreless first period, the Canadiens blew a tight game open with two goals in 57 seconds .
With the Canadiens enjoying a two-man advantage, Tomas Plekanec opened the scoring on a nice pass by Andrei Markov.
Then, still on the PP, Markov converted a Max Pacioretty feed to make it 2-0.
Most dangerous lead in hockey?
Not tonight.
Great work by Rene Bourque produced a goal for linemate Brian Gionta.
Then with less than two minutes left in the period, Josh Gorges, of all people, blew one past Michal Neuvirth, who was being screened by the giant body of David Desharnais.

Raphael Diaz continued his fine play with two assists.

For the second straight game, Max Pacioretty had a couple helpers.

  1. HabinBurlington says:

DId I see Markov get up extremely slow from beside our own net?

  2. habsfan0 says:

Adam Oates is on the clock.

  3. Danno says:

Can Boone pull out his Markov puppet more often?

    Wait. That didn’t sound right…

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  4. Hobie Hansen says:

I thought Bourque sucked according to 90% of people on this site?

  5. savethepuck says:

From a guy who’s faithfully defended Markov over the last couple of seasons, and I know there are others here like me, I hope there are a lot of people enjoying their crow. Don’t think you have to look too far for see why our power play has greatly improved so far ( and yes I know it’s only the 3rd game ). The amount of people on here asking for him to be traded and even those mentioning buy him out ( wow ), should maybe admit they were wrong.

  6. Sakus Evil Twin says:

I’m regretting not picking up that $39.99 Bourque jersey now… Solid, solid play over the last 3 games…

No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.

  7. CharlieHodgeFan says:

Interesting pattern – Gionta’s second, Markov’s third. We missed those washed up losers, eh?

    Gionta’s hands are so quick.

  8. Propwash says:

    Captain Giant!!!!!

  9. Blondie says:

Woohoo! And Bourque gets a great assist. Gotta love it!

  10. HabInToronto says:

    Nice Play by Bourque

  11. HabinBurlington says:

Nice shift for Bourque, good hustle, great pass.

    Way to finish GIO!

  14. HardHabits says:

In the past few minutes we have witnessed what an actual elite defence man is. Hope the potential one is attentively taking notes.

  15. HabInToronto says:

    Marky,what a General!

  16. frontenac1 says:

Cole and Hammer going for a Pint after the Game?

  17. JayK-47 says:

    Shouldn’t Diaz have 2 assists?

Edit: 3 assists, pretty sure the second goal was scored of a rebound from his shot, non?

  18. HabinBurlington says:

I am starting to think Canada Post is operating the server for this site.

  19. CharlieHodgeFan says:

Yawn, just another standard Markov goal. He used to do that ALL the time.
And isn’t it great to see him back, doing that again? We missed watching the team’s number one defenceman last season, and I am glad he’s back.

  20. Blondie says:

Man, is it ever nice to have a power play again.

  21. habsfan0 says:

Markov on pace for 48 goals this year.

  22. Danno says:

    Got him in the pool!

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  23. Whatever says:

    “Hello Donnie, call Marc.”

  24. stakabo says:

    Markov !!!!!! woot !

    Go Habs Go !

  25. Propwash says:

Who said he was washed up???

  26. PeterD says:

Start planning the cup parade…markov is back.

  27. Blondie says:

    Mr. Bean!! Yes!!

  28. Mattyleg says:

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  29. Sakus Evil Twin says:

It would appear that Markov is back.

No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.

  32. savethepuck says:

What a great pass by Markov. Most players would of rushed the rebound there instead of feeding the empty man.

  33. habstrinifan says:

3 goals for Pleks already? or is it 2.

  34. Blondie says:

    Great play boys!

  35. Sakus Evil Twin says:

Wow. Bourque is becoming ‘the man’.

No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.

  36. Mattyleg says:

    Great vision by Marky.

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  37. Propwash says:

  38. HabinBurlington says:

What a heads up pass by Markov, his unselfishness makes him soo good.

  39. Harditya says:

  40. habstrinifan says:

Weber trade idea… anyone think Boucher in Tampa may want him. He had his best games under Boucher.

  41. habsfan0 says:

    “Galchenyuk played only 1:54”

We now know where Therrien is leaning as to where Galchenyuk will be playing next week.

  42. Strummer says:

Kadri playing well for the Leafs.

I hate when Don Cherry is right! (which is rare)

“It’s just an opinion – I could be wrong”

  43. stakabo says:

    Go Habs Go !

  44. HardHabits says:

This is truly a cold spell we’re experiencing in Montreal. Brrrrrrrrrr!

  45. Danno says:

Is arbitration an option for the PK predicament?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  46. Blondie says:

I find myself agreeing with Brunet about PK. That’s mildly disconcerting.

  47. Mattyleg says:

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but according to Renaud Lavoie, Weber is getting frustrated, and wants to play. In Montreal, or elsewhere.

    I like that impatience.

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  48. Lecoach says:

slyder where do you live that you are blacked out by rogers on the nhl package? I live in toronto and i am watching the game on the TSN Habs feed (on Bell Satellite TV) if you live in the Habs broadcast zone (from belleville to the Maritimes) you should be able to watch the TSN habs feed without the NHL package…And RDS is not blacked out anywhere in Canada

  49. Mattyleg says:

    Have fun Rudy!
Looking okay for the moment… I like our hustle!

    —Hope Springs Eternal—

  50. Propwash says:

Markov is being ridden hard in ToI, hopefully PK will be signed soon to help carry the load.

  51. habs001 says:

So correct..if the Habs are to be a contender in 2 years either you have PK on the team or a similiar player…every cup winner had the type of d pk is…Markov looks good but 2 years is a long time

  52. Rudy says:

I am at the game. Price is on!!!

    Thank god!

  53. shorthanded says:

DD and Weber DO look alike! Than you Boone!
On another note, however good we are right now, we’d be better with PK. Getting really antsy about how long it’s taking to sign him

  54. HabinBurlington says:

Is Ovechkin the poster boy for too much term on a contract? Realize Dipietro etc… are stupid contracts, but Ovechkin WAS the best player in the NHL.

    • Habfan10912 says:

Not the same player, huh? He plays such a physical game I’m wondering if it’s more that than the contract.

    • Phil C says:

Ovechkin has definitely dropped off in production.

On an unrelated topic, did you ever notice how ARod dropped in production after he stopped taking PEDs? Speaking of PEDs, one of the radio announcers in Ottawa yesterday was talking about how rampant PED’s were in the KHL when he played in Europe.

  55. Hobie Hansen says:

I think it’s just you and I Boone?

  56. HabinBurlington says:

Not the worst first period, started well. whole game seems sloppy, at least only 1 penalty against Habs.

  57. Price is awesome.

    Go Habs Go !

  58. Blondie says:

Alright, killed. Time to score one.

  59. SLYDER says:

why did i get the nhl package from rogers for Habs blackouts?

  60. Stevie.Ray says:

Is there a stat showing who takes the most slap shots in the league. Gionta has gotta be up there

  61. punkster says:

    ***FREE PK!!!***

  62. L Elle says:

Very sleepy game, or maybe it’s just me, living in subarctic temperatures these days.

  63. SlovakHab says:

Kadri gets another one for Leafs!
    damn it.

  64. HabinBurlington says:

I’m guessing Emelin felt during scrums guys were getting free shots in on his face where plate is. Now protected, continues to hit like a Banshee!

  65. habsfaninboston says:

Why is Emelin wearing a cage?

  66. JayK-47 says:

If hockey inside out can advertise Mercedes, BMW, condos, MBA programs, Las Vegas trips and private jet services, it can AFFORD A NEW SERVER.

  67. jols101 says:

Send Agally back to Sarnia and send Bgally back to Hamilton if you are not going to play these guys. They both can play in the NHL this year but if the are getting 3 minutes a period send them back so they can play

  68. HabsFanMTL says:

geesh, i know Jorges is great defensively but he isn’t very big and was thrown around like a rag doll out there, and for 3.9 million per season he doesn’t score goals or add up points, and Kaberle for 4 million almost giving away a goal there…….i’d say were all set with our D. NOT ……….we need big D to handle Big forwards. Between those 2 they have trouble signing PK??? come on man

  69. HabinBurlington says:

Okay dodged a bullet there with Kaberle on against Ovy. 1 more good defenseman with physicality may indeed help.

  70. silversnake says:

    Kaberle was so brutal there

  71. SlovakHab says:

Anybody reckons the Hamrlik saga might have a little bit of negative influence on Caps dressing room?

  72. Harditya says:

Bourque has been so much better than compared to last season. I’ll take this guy over Cammy anyday if he shows up like this everyday. Goals will eventually come.

  73. Barts says:

Can someone please knock the stuffing out of Ribiero. That would make my night.

  74. Let’s see if Galchenyuk can score his second NHL goal.

(And third and fourth and fifth…)

    Go Habs Go !
