Liveblog: Senators edge Canadiens 2-1 in Shootout

Bishop

Peter Regin beat Carey Price in the Shootout to give the home team the win.
The hero was goaltender Ben Bishop: 44 saves in regulation and OT, four more in the Shootout.
Canadiens, who hit the metal behind Bishop five times, get a well-earned point to stay atop the Eastern Conference.

The Shootout:

Silfverberg: Goal (he’s 3-for-3 in Shootouts this season

Galchenyuk: Save (easy)

Daniel F.: Glove save

DD: Goal! Brilliant

Turris: Save

Gallagher: Save

Daugavins: Post!

Gionta: Save

Regin: Goal! And a beauty

Plekanec: Save

The only Hab with a bad game tonight was PK Subban. Dunno why there are so many comments ripping Price, Gio, etc…

    • Adidess says:

PK made mistakes, but he didn’t cost us any goal and he wasn’t in for the shootout. The offense scored one goal, Price allowed a softie. Get it now? I believe Price deserved a pass though.

    • slapshot777 says:

Because, Price did have a bad game. The puck stops with him a player has a bad game and a team can still win a goalie has a bad game and you end up with what we got tonight

      • crabvader says:

They scored a single bad goal on us. Get over it. If it was anyone but Bishop the game would’ve finished 4-1 tonight for us if not more. Then you wouldn’t even be saying Price had a bad game. He let in 1 goal on 24 shots. Statistically speaking, that is a good game.

      • The Jackal says:

A goalie has a bad game and the flyers can still win! haha

  2. Chrisadiens says:

Funny thing is Ottawa was missing their best d-man and number one goaltender. So were the Habs tonight. PK was atrocious and Carey wasn’t himself.

Ah well, on to the next one. Point streak is still alive.

  3. slapshot777 says:

This was probably Prices second worst game of the year, first of course was that 6-0 loss. I mean he looked lost all night right from the opening shot. When Price is on he just flicks those shots away with ease, but tonight they bounced off of him and found hiself looking for the puck. That goal that beat him in the second goes in probbly once in a 100 shots

  4. bleublancrouge says:

Better team by far lost tonight Bishop didnt steal this one Price gave it away as soft as a goal can come

I would change my name to bluewhitered but I don’t want to start a controversy

  5. The Dude says:

Price checking webbing all night…he just can’t catch.

  6. HabinBurlington says:

Credit to Ottawa gritty team with hot goalies, nobody is beating them these days, even the dudes leafs lost to them, and he loves the leafs!

  7. RiverviewCanadien says:

Great goaltending by Bishop. Not so great goaltending by Price…boy he really sucked on that goal.

I don’t know if that guys mom is still cheering for him after that one…

    • The Jackal says:

He was solid tonight. Both goalies ate a fake in the shooutout. It happens. That nobody Bishop is thanking his posts right now. Should have been 5-1 Habs, easily.
If you kept this game going instead of going to an SO, the Habs would have won anyway.

      • RiverviewCanadien says:

Posts or not…that does not change the fact we did not get elite goaltending out of Price. That goal stunk!

Ask anyone, if they tell you different, they lie!

        • The Jackal says:

Uhh, ok, I guess that’s why he made many tough saves and kept them in the game after they went down. Habs win and it’s still just one goal allowed, get real.

  8. Bill says:

Whatever, the Habs deserved the two points, but sometimes you just hit the goalpost four times, lol. Bishop was good. They got a point on the road and should’ve had two.

Attention to the geniuses who are complaining about Gionta being in the shoot out: look up some career stats for Habs players on shoot outs.

  9. alfieturcotte says:

Price chokes yet again in shootouts…..Why in the world does Gionta get selected for the shootouts?

  10. jedimyrmidon says:

Hope the Habs aren’t too discouraged: these things happen – posts and a crazy goaltending performance.

I’m REALLY hoping that the Habs can play like this Wednesday against the Leafs and hopefully Scrivens gives up rebounds.

  11. Habitant in Surrey says:

    …difference Bishop

…no shame in this loss …We played Our hearts out

  12. piper says:

    tough game for PK tonight.

  13. HabFanSince72 says:

Now the commentariat will tell us how stupid Therrien’s shootout choices were.

  14. piper says:

Hats off to Bishop tonight. Oh, and his goal posts.

  15. crabvader says:

Still no losses in regulation in 8 :)

  16. slapshot777 says:

MT goes and put Gionta in the shootout when he is doing nothing. Where was Pacioretty?

  17. DDO_Habs_Fan says:

Can’t win them all mes amis. Fortunate to get the point with all the bad luck. Kept fighting till the end. On to the next one…

  18. CaliHab says:

    trade Price for Bishop??????
    relax, i’m kidding

  19. topher5468 says:

Boone wrote save by Gionta’s name, he should have wrote no efin shot

  20. immortalhab says:

Who makes these F€€# choices? Could Pleks beat an open net?

  21. Shadows says:

now the post game radio show is 1/2 ruined

  22. HabFanSince72 says:

Price was atrocious in the shootout.

What was he doing on Regin’s goal?

  23. pmaraw says:

    boooo, should’ve won that one

  24. Ghosts of the Forum says:

They played well. That’s the important thing. Every once in a while you run into a hot goalie. And let’s face it…shootouts are a lottery. Take the point and…ON TO THE LEAFS!!

  25. shootdapuck says:

MT again mystifies with SO choices!
Gionta instead of Pacioretti or Eller . Really?

  26. Boomer says:

All of our losses but 1 are within our division lol. Not good. 10-0-1 vs other teams

  27. crabvader says:

Bishop flat-out stole that game. Ottawa was very very average tonight.

  28. habsfaninboston says:

Sucks to dominate but not away with the W.

  29. Clutch10 says:

Don’t think i’ve ever seen more lame penalty shots in all my life. Why is Gionta allways taking penalty shots?

  30. Mondou6 says:

    Gionta…lol.

  31. otter649 says:

Goalie Bishop the difference Habs 45 SOG – Sens 24 SOG….

  32. Whatever says:

Hot goalie won it. F%$& it.

  33. slapshot777 says:

I just can’t believe how Price tried to make that last shoot out save

  34. The Jackal says:

Too bad we lost, but whatever, we got the point.
That goalie had horseshoes where the sun don’t shine, when he craps them out it will hurt.
Always sucks when nobodies when it for the other team.

  35. Shadows says:

    lame… shootouts kinda suck

  36. Propwash says:

I don’t know why Therrien doesn’t try Markov or Subban on the SO.

    • The Jackal says:

      I wonder that too.
Another thing – shootouts are so lame.
Best out of 3, then its 1-1 until someone scores and the other team does not – how stupid! Best out of 3 then best out of 3 again, that setup is so bad!

  37. Renegade says:

Complete fluke by Ottawa. Montreal was by far the better team. Unreal.

  38. db says:

At least we got a point.. I think that’s 8 straight games.
