It was fun while it lasted.
The Senators blew the game open in the second period while Ryan White was serving a double-minor for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct.
PP goals by Habs-killer Daniel F. Alfredsson and Mika Zibanejad made it 3-1.
Then Chris Phillips capped off a period of total dominance by the Chris Neil line to give the Senators a three-goal lead.
Three goals on Peter Budaj in 3:35, and the Canadiens never recovered … although there some quality shots on Craig Anderson.
Chris Neil iced the cake with a wraparound late in the third period.
The game included two first-period fights and a parade to the penalty box that sabotaged any rhythm or flow to the action.

Time for Habs to pull the goalie?
Didn’t they ask him to do that when he was with the Habs?
Holy donuts, Batman! Anderson only gives up ONE goal per game. I’m glad this happened early in the season. Bergevin has time to fix the holes. Ottawa really exposed all our flaws. Time to fix them.
prust could easily have 2 goals
Bourque is just useless out there. Compare the way 5″8 Gallagher plays to 6″2 Bourque. I’ve never seen a guy of that size be so timid to throw a body check. He is too lazy to to be playing with Pleks and Gionta.
I hate it when no name goalies like Anderson get hot and then all of a sudden they look like they are the best. On Sunday we won’t be looking so good.
No name goalie? Ok…lol

Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
I like HH’s suggestion…the guinness is not even making this enjoyable
60 minutes of penalty shots would be way funner.
Not our night, fellas…Lack of discipline and a hot goalie equals a loss….Can’t win ‘em all, but it will be nice to have a fresh Price and the Sooby-do, back in there, this weekend..

Yes, I’m a Hab fan..Wanna fight about it?
JM must be laughing as he went threw this most every night
OK
Time for a garbage goal.
A nice greasy one.

One of those nights…..
Yup hot goalie lol
Not our game. Anderson has stolen at least 2 goals already
I can’t believe it.
BREAKAWAY! Oh wait….
I knew this would happen. We sign PK and start losing. He’s bad for the dressing room!
I’m kidding you psychos…..
Tre
Distraction?
and DD falls again

Your signature does not go well with your comment.
…showed PK up in a box seat …going to be fun When He is on the ice
Face offs are gonna be a key point to address by the trainers.
Also, WTF happened to our penalty killing from last year?
PK and Gill aren’t playing.
–
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
They should just make hockey 60 minutes of penalty shots.
It’s going to take a minor miracle here.
The Sens want it more and through most of the game have taken a page from Therrien’s book and taken the play to our guys. Full marks there.
Props to Bourque and the kids. Really need to DD, Cole and Eller to wake up. Their lack of contribution is glaring and I get the feeling they’re going to get the stick after this game. No excuses. Let’s see if that impending threat is going to wake them up. I suspect it’s the only way we get back in this one.
A goal per 2 minutes and we’re good.
Anderson is hot he is playing back to back. Why couldn’t price next game not till Saturday
Wake me up when this snoozer is over please.
It’s a good game if you like to watch non-stop wacky refereeing instead of hockey.
Why does HIO scoreboard say 4-2 and that we have scored in the 3rd? I was away for a minute so should I trust RDS?
rds also says 4-2
–
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
Haha, My RDS says 4-1
I wouldn’t trust any network that has Le Baron’s wig on it.
Dont trust anyone especially Hockey Bloggers. They are the least trustworthy!
Man what a crappy hockey game. The refs sucked the flow out of this one right off the hop..
This site seems to be livelier with a loss than with a win. Seems like some posters were waiting for the team to lose so they could bounce. Whatever gets you trolls off, I guess.
Another possible explanation – posting during games is distracting. It is likely to be more sustained when the team is (almost) out of it than when we are winning in a tight, entertaining game.
If only you could be less negative, you could see that angle
Can anyone on this team win a draw,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
zzzzZZZZ
Lack of success in the faceoff circle is a common theme so far, and will need to be fixed if success is to follow.
Anderson in Da Zone. Somebody has to Run him.Fu*k up his sh*t abit.
Yeah, after that BS “goalie interference” call, I’d say we owe him one.
Kaberle, please get out of this team.
Terrible pass by Eller. He just doesn’t have the creativity or vision to make that kind of pass……oh wait.
Cole is warming up

ESPN real time box score has the habs with two goals – they counted the Prust almost goal – kinda funny
99% of the time, that would have been in.

After the early fights, and big Sens lead, I’d be happy if we got some physical retaliation late in this game.
They all look very lethargic, Cole has given up the puck every time he had it , White is a disaster, Eller playing so soft, Armstrong has not shaken out all the leafs yet!
Team work ethic gone in one night.
Penalty kill is no where to be seen this year.
NEXT!
And those are the good points!
Bad as it appears, the 2nd and 3rd goals both bullsh#t. Two lucky bounces. Habs need an early one.
Aw shucks, the bruins troll got banned already.I was just getting tuned up to do some troll kicking, its been a while.
What happened to the Chara lover?

I wanted to ask why he would refer car keys as a pair of pants…

Hey, it wasn’t wrong spot. They deleted the Boston guy’s post. Maybe even his membership. That was quick.
…I thought Boone’s blurb that He thought Karlson better than Kovalchuk was extravagant when I read it …but seeing His play tonight He seems to be playing on a higher level than last season
…Paul Coffey, Orr comes to mind
Hoping to see PK in lineup at some point this weekend. PK PK PK chant should get this team to play 60 minutes. Lets win this 3rd period and get them back in our barn on Sunday.
There’s still lots of hockey left to play. Just stay tuned
Do the mods have the good sense to block trolls from this site?

Seems like the better Galchenyuk plays it makes DD and Eller hold their sticks tighter and skate more paralyzed.
Good to see that Moen on the second line project working out…..blown coverage on the Phillips goal and blown opportunity to score from the backdoor.
I know, I know, Therrien’s still a genius.
Moen is not a top 6, not even a top 9.
That shift was a circus of mistakes with Moen and Kabs leading the way.
Settle. They weren’t going to go 47-1. The whole team looks kind of flat tonight.
I’m perfectly calm Twi.
Just pointing out the obvious mistake that a novice coach wouldn’t make. A big reason I’m not convinced Therrien’s changed.
The broad scope has been good so far. Glad at the very least that he realized his mistake and pulled the plug on the experiment with a couple of minutes left in the period.
When our Habs play within its division it should be your best in the lineup. Not taking anything away how Bujda is playing. Habs are being out worked. Plain and simply. No excuses but coach never took a time out and this kept the momentum going for Sens. How hard is it to call a time out? Sheesh!!!
Ryan White was a great hope for a lot of HIOers last season, but his lack of discipline is serious. Blunden is bigger, only 2 years old and much more experienced. I say give him a chance – guys in White’s role can easily be replaced.
They’ve come out tired, but without those unnecessary penalties, they would have a statistical chance. Budaj has been okay, but the weaknesses on defence have been exposed. This condensed season is going to be a strange one – I am starting to expect a lot of really up and down teams, depending on fatigue.
I was thinking the same, but who’s the C?
Well, we knew they weren’t taking two from Ottawa, right? How they play in the third will tell a tale though. Very important to move on from those three minutes in the second. Let’s see what they’re really made of.
Better to lose before Subban comes in imo..
WOuld of preferred a shootout loss.
i did not see the penalties on white so hard ot comment if they were bad calls BUT the worst penalty was prust fight – right after you take a 1-0 and have momentum you DO NOT FIGHT. it’s hockey 101, put your pride on teh shelf and save the fight for later – momentum stopped, sens score right after and thats that
Neil went after Prust. Neil got an instigator for it too.

good point and i stand corrected – i’d take the PP… not sure if prust knew it was coming though.
stinker game but i’d like to see how the habs react after being outplayed for 20 mins.
Therrien is a smart coach, I have no question about it, but if I pick the minor mistakes, he should have put in Budaj yesterday and Price for today, division rivals.
He did it out of respect for the Bell Centre fans who pay big money to see Price not Budaj

Ya think he could be rusty?

“It’s just an opinion – I could be wrong”
Does not seem to be too much urgency to DD’s game. Does not seem to be fighting through checks.
This is a urgent issue. Seems like he has been watching too much l’antichambre.
Just watch the video maybe you can make that observation too. Nothing they had to say you couldnt see with your own eyes! Even you could have figured that out!
Bergevin has made some very good moves since coming to Montreal, but signing Colby Armstrong was not one of them.!!!
agree – prust i have liked except looking for fights. armstrong had added very little…. hopefully he steps it up.
I’m not expecting a miracle turnaround for a Habs victory, but it would be nice if they came out hard for the 3rd and at least made a game of it. They’re off until Saturday so burn the jets, dig deep, and show some heart.

I still want a slow-mo replay on the White penalty. A 2-minute penalty would’ve been strange; the double-minor was flat out unbelieveable.
Then 2 to Bourque for bumping the goalie as he played the puck, and 2 to Ottawa for a moderate slash/smack at Armstrong’s stick? Mystifying from all sides.
Tired legs and bipolar reffing are combining to do us in tonight.
According to RDS, White got an extra 2 mn for yelling at the refs. The initial call was a minor.
Ayiyiyi.
Thanks for the info. That’s a dumb penalty to take, no excuse… but I can understand his frustration given that the *initial* penalty was highly suspect.
White had a good case to give it to the refs. I believe it was philips who was holding his stick and was trying to get it free.
White’s upside doesn’t add up to him losing his temper and getting an extra penalty,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Did Habs overcome a 3 goal deficit last season?
DId we score three in a game last year?
So what we’ll likely see:
PK in for Kaberle
White/Armstrong sits for Blunden I guess.
When Nokia comes back, I think White will be sitting a lot as we’ll need a guy who can take draws.
—————-
Me skull and crossbones arn’t the only thing I plan on raisin’ tonight.
I’d like to be a fly on the wall in the Habs room right now

Evangeline Lilly, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz … I could go on, and you pick whose wall to be a fly on?
Just subcontract out the Blogging for the 3rd Mr. Boone!
This game is BS and there is no reason for Therrien to be upset at anyone except the refs.
I’d like to see Therien go bananas on the refs. They have it coming to them.

Therrien does not need a reason
“Et le but!”
“No Excuses” :p
I hope the refs have some cigarettes, because I’m sure the Habs would like a smoke after getting F***ed!!!

Anybody else think Mike is going to lose his sh*t in the room after this period?
Mr. Boone is not a Habs fan.
If Habs pop one early in 3rd, they’re right back in it.
Yeah,right.
They look more likely to poop one early in the third.
Excuses? First back to back and Ottawa is one hell of a team. But still, no excuses.
In the turd, you mean.
I think Bourque would have a better chance of hitting the net if he aimed elsewhere. Ok just hit the net on one -)
TSN turning point?
Anyone?
Bueller?
