These were the 4 options on Roy’s candidacy on TSN quiz tonight.
Take it or leave it but the Montreal Canadiens lately have made some bad decisions. It is time to break with the past. Granted rookie coaches do not fare well in Montreal but management needs to take some risks. Big ones. Maybe just maybe Patrick Roy is the sort of risk this sinking team needs to bring back passion, grit, determination, integrity, and everything else that spells a winning combination! Someone please tell me if Bob Gainey is still in the organization because well I am no longer sure if that is good news or if the team shall be forever lame.
The problem is that you think the team lacks “passion” when it actually lacks Skill and Health.
Roy isn’t going to fix that.

This is a rubbish team. The standings tell the truth. We are the worse team in the Eastern Conference. It is amazing that we can talk about the future on this site, even Boone and co look forward to next year and after. Think about it – even our new messiah Cole is a Carolina reject, not Pittsburgh nor the Bruins, but lowly Carolina. Here is the key – we see mediocrity as the elite. We see an ordinary line – DD/Cole/Max-Pac as a top quality line; at best, they are a 3rd line with the big boys.
St Patrick can’t resurrect this franchise. Jesus Christ can’t. Gainey and now Gauthier have killed this organization. Look at the game tonight – they are an average AHL team. Even Price looked ordinary.
Finally, knock off the tank theory – it’s a rationalization for a dead franchise. Even if we get 1st pick, we need to get rid of ALL present players and replace them with hockey players.

Now when I watch the games I find myself thinking about next year.
I hope we make the playoffs next year cause we can’t afford to miss the playoffs 2 years in a row.
Getting a top pick is all cool but losing still sucks.
It seems so weird seeing so many few comments, at this point in the middle of the season there would be about 500 comments.
What is there to look forward to in the third period? Nothing I guess, but I don’t know why I’m still watching every game till the season is over, I guess it’s just the true fan in me.

I’d go further than ’1 stay at home NHL calibre defence man with a booming shot’. I think they need an elite-level defenseman who can really shut the other team down.
I think we also need a real #1 center. The DD story this year has been great, but even if he manages another 60-ish point year, I really think he belongs on the second line. That’s IF he has another good year.
Team has picked up 9 out of 12 points since getting Markov back. That’s one player (albeit an important one).
With Gionta, they’d have two scoring lines … what impact would that have?
I’d like another scoring forward for depth, and a back-up goalie in case of injury, but the Habs are really just a healthy season away from being a good team.

How are Les Boys playing?
If there’s one thing I hope for next season, it’s that whoever coaches the Habs abandons the dump-and-chase approach. We spend our whole time chasing the puck, dumping it in, then wheeling back to defend against another Sabre onslaught. We create absolutely nothing in the way of offence. The way the team is playing tonight is pathetic – no offence, no pressure, nothing. I absolutely can’t watch.
Sounds like Guy Boucher type of game still.
For offense we need Roy or Muller.

Kinda feel weird to be asking this while on the tankwagon, but the inexplicable thing is you still want them to do well (meaning well enough to lse with dignity, but not win). This tanking thing is really not as easy as it sounds…
Same as the first 70 games. Its like a broken record record. Sigh.
