Should’ve kept AK for the remainder of the season. Did they really believe that Geoffrion could be a better player? The team was having troubles scoring and they still chose to get rid of one of their better scorers for nothing.
just so I am clear…they should have let AK walk for nothing? This team had no shot at the playoffs so they need to maximize their players and picks. They can still bid on AK after the season if they want but now they have a 2nd and a 5th pick for him. Geoffrion was from the Gill trade not the AK deal.

yes, AK is a third liner…He doesn’t score regularly enough to warrant top 6 minutes. He is not going to reach 20 this year either.
I don’t buy the he never got top 6 minutes thing either…his stats didn’t change whether he was playing with Eller or Pleks. He got top 6 minutes for two straight years and the points were basically the same as last year when he was put on the third line with Eller

Carolina won tonight which pulls them out of reach of the Habs in terms of the bottom eight teams. If Anaheim could somehow beat St Louis it would then mean there are only seven teams left in the race for the top end draft picks.

Unfortunately Gainey/Gauthier’s legacy of poor moves will continue to bite the team next year as Kaberle, Bourque, Gomez etc. are all still under contract for next season… and the season after that.
I don’t want losses but I have come to accept them as reality and probably good for the team long term. I no longer get upset about losses. I stopped being upset back in December when became apparent that the team wouldn’t make it.

It is so f’in stupid that coach C is not playing Leblanc, Palusha and Geoffrion more. Now is the time to see if these guys are useful NHLer and to see if they can even play in the NHL.
Next October when we need to come out of the gate flying and win games early in the year is not the time to see if these guys can contribute. Brutal coaching and brutal planning for the future by this organization.
Just as well kept JM till the season was over.
Next season play the starting team for all preseason games.
PH – Leblanc and Geoffrion should be in Hamilton getting a ton of ice time. In fact, they should have been in the AHL all year. Palushaj is strictly cannon fodder. A player who is on the clock and will be gone from Hab land by next summer.
A tough string of injuries has put all three of them in situations that they are not perpared for or not able to handle.
MaxPac bounced back from the same misplacement so I trust that Leblanc will be able to eventually do the same thing.
It is the pk that has kept the habs out of being the worst team in the nhl and first pick as we are still 2nd worst in wins and home points…

I think he looks really good. Calm and controlled with the puck, and every pass is makes is perfect. The team looks better already with him playing. I hope he can regain his legs, but even if he doesn’t, we have 99 problems and Markov isn’t one. (As long as he’s playing)
