Carey Price stopped all three shots in the Shootout.
And the recently-maligned David Desharnais beat Anders Lindback to salvage a 4-3 win.
The Canadiens were playing a textbook road game.
They led 3-0 with six minutes to go.
Then disaster struck … three times.
The home team scored three times on seven third-period shots.
The Canadiens had a power-play during Overtime, but Anders Lindback was spectacular.
The Shootout:
Hedman: Save
Galchenyuk: Miss
St. Louis: Save
Desharnais: GOAL!
Stamkos: SAVE!!!

How’s the game going?
Looks like HIO server did eventually give up.
OK now we have people posting about Eller having already been traded. Unless I missed something, and maybe I have, can we STOP THE INSANITY ???!!!!
Again, if I missed something, shut me up.
lol…I am a huge Eller fan..but he kind of reminds me oif the Stop the Insanity woman!
i am probably the only one on this site with an ELLER JERSEY (thats right!) yet I still just can’t get my panties in a bunch like everyone here.
If anyone from last year’s top line deserves to be sat, its Cole. Bad attitude, not producing, looks like he doesn’t give a damn and he’s nearly said as much.
I would like to see Desharnais with Eller and Pacioretty. Cole can chase pucks with White, Armstrong and Moen. They might remind him of what ‘effort’ is. Desharnais at least looks like he’s trying.
p.s. this looks like i am bitching at you, but I am just ranting. If anyone would take Cole, i would trade his a$$ at the deadline.
Stop the insanity, agreed!
I am a big PK fan and I think the posts about him and MT and ridiculous. The jury is still out. He made a big mistake that cost a goal and Carey’s SO. PK will be PK, but he will be even better when he learns to take risks better and sharpens his decision-making.
The organization knows his value, and if MT really does butt-heads, I don’t think it will be PK hitting the road in any event. But that is just speculation, we won, let’s be happy. The win streak started tonight.
I found something more sad than losing a 3 nothing lead with 5 minutes left. It makes me sad

http://nickolaisblog.wordpress.com/
Except when it comes to protesting…..
Really, IOC drop wrestling from OLYMPICS really, Money Money Money, I guess they want to add skateboarding
If they want money, they might as well add stripping to the competition. Women’s beach volleyball is almost there…
PK will leave if this continues, I know him well, and it will be another 15 years trying to replace him.!!!
Hal Gill had a great quote when he was here saying that the problem is everyone is trying to change P.K., but he is who he is and you can’t change him.
Whether you like him or not, the kid can play. He’d be a huge star in a big American market.
Do we want that?, or will Therrien get his ego under control long enough to play the kid properly.
If PK ever leaves, we’ll be talking about it the day MT gets fired as his biggest mistake…
It’s possible Therrien will do to PK what Mario Tremblay did to Patrick Roy.
I think this is where it’s headed.
PK was named the first star of the game on NHL.com over Hedman who scored two. He does get appreciation outside of the Montreal bench and media.
Then he will continue to be pressured on forecheck and given space and led into holes and traps where he is forced to play a decision making game (on pp) and not be given useful space on the ice. On the pp opposing teams now let him carry the puck because he often fumbles, gets thrown off and turns to regroup and waastes 10 seconds himself, fires his rim around dump ins into 50/50 pucks insted of spots where the team will easily recover, etc. His skill is all world….his decision making is as many have stated…a work in progress. markov ios skating at 60 percent of PK yet his intellect is off the charts…he makes smart paly after smart play. PK has super skills and gets out of most of the trouble…but often he creates his own trouble and that gets frustrating for players away from the puck working hard to get into an open seamponly to see him turn around or have to try and beat two guys because he waited too long. Once the kid gets it he will be a perrennial all star….but he definitely needs to be reined in and sharpened up on the risk taking, etc That is why I would prefer to still have Diaz on the first pp unit despite PK’s success…..let PK anchor the second unit and do his thing but Mrkov and Diaz distribute the puck and shoopt in equal amounts
PK should be playing with Markov or Georges, not Boullion!!
Personally I would go Gorges
Nucks have the new Higgins-LaPierre- Kassian line …that’s how easy it is to fix things.
I remember Higgins, he used to be our next 40 goal scorer. Some people suggested he would ultimately settled into a very good 3rd line guy, guess they were right.
You know what, i missed the game and just watched all the goals on RDS2. It wasn’t all that bad.
I was aware of the score throughout the game and definitely stunned to learn Tampa was able to tie it up trailing 3-0 with 5mns to go. That they blew such a comfortable lead with so little time left is worrisome, especially in the wake of the Boston and Buffalo games. But I just watched the goals (not the game) and thought this one was a bit different in terms of a choke job. The last two goals were very fluky chances that ended in the net. I don’t understand how that second by Hedman actually counted.
Have to say I didn’t like the personnel we had on the ice defending a 1-goal lead shorthanded at 6-4, but MT looks like he’s still learning about his team and searching for go-to guys on specific situations, he’s clearly not there yet. But I can imagine what it felt like watching it unfold live, so I also understand the outrage over another blown lead this early in the season. A loss would have indigestible for sure, but a win is a win.
MT watched the team all last year. Is the learning curve really so steep?
I guess he did not see what happened when JM treated the veterans better than the youngsters….
pk was being benched, Markov had played half the game and Diaz is a questionable choice in that situation. Eller actually won the draw…but the team lost the battle despite him winning it directly back 6-8 feet. Then the PK (Eller and Moen) played a little lax at the top of the box and a pinball shot went in…
So far this team has had a goo start…the Leafs have our number, the Bruins was one bad minute, the Sabres was a bad period and tonight was a questionable 5 minutes…but still a win. The Ottawa loss was also a 3 minute span that cost the game…all in all quite an improvement froma lottery pick team
whats there to learn by MT. simple solution for MB. Get a couple of 3 huge mother Defencemen!!!!!
“take your time and hurry up”
Wait… we won tonight, right? 2 points on the road? Good. Off to the next game.
___________________________________________________
Being a Hab fan is like buying real estate: only over the long-haul will you appreciate the true value of your investment.
Armstorng/Moen and Eller played well…..Price finally dominated a shootout…and the team played 55 great minutes…..and even the last few weren;t as bad as it seems…Montreal had soliod chances and missed and two fluky goals go in for Tb..along with some bizarro world reffing…I’ll take the 2 points, thelesson learned for PK, DD scoring and hopefully getting some confidence again, etc
PK must be allowed to play his game to be effective. He is creative, exuberant, skilled and can execute plays that the opposition does not expect.
He is our best defenseman, and Therrien does not know how to use him properly.
If this continues, PK is better to move on to a club that will appreciate his great gift to this game.!! He will not stay shackled, when he has so much more to give.
I agree with you there, I am worried that MT has created his own bias toward PK that may go all the way back to Anti Chmabre but he’s gotta quit it and let PK be.
http://nickolaisblog.wordpress.com/
What possible reasons would MT have to be biased towards PK?
I mean,beyond the obvious ones.
Trust me I really don’t know, but again I could be wrong but he used to bad mouth him here or there and for what ever reason he might be acting unprofessional about all this and not giving PK a chance, or the fact PK held out for a bit might have pissed him off I don’t know to b honest.
http://nickolaisblog.wordpress.com/
Yep , I was pissed the way they treated him last year, this year so far not exactly different.
But what he did on that first goal was inexcusable….first he nonchalanted acorss the blue line, and then to make it worse…he made an ill advised and technically horrible check on the boards…and made no attempt to get back into position. Had he just fumbled..sure no big deal…talk to him on the bench but the whole sequence was pretty awful and breathed life into Tampa. The benching decision was made when the game should have still been in hand…he couldn’t back down and show weakness to the team so he stuck by his decision. There was nothing “creative” about a one handed stickhandle at your blueline and then half ass check attmept and no attempt to get back into play.
There were also some bs calls and a very unfortunate sequence of events that led to the comeback…all irrelevant now….
I have more of a beef with not boosting Galchenyuk and the kids confidence with some pp time, breaking up Markov/Diaz on the first unit, DD continuing to get serious time and Eller rotting.
However, for those saying it is unfair and that he only goes at the kids…he has reduced Patches minutes and Cole’s as well…..
So whats your take on emelin so far then, because other than some big hitting he doesn’t really do shiat out there
Started strong….since either looks hurt or like he has lost some confidence. He doesn’t seem as aggressive of late and is also fumbling the puck a bit….something looks up there…
should change his name to violin. he plays like one
“take your time and hurry up”
ahhh, someone who watched the game, eh? Good to know I was not hallucinating when I saw that sequence.
Banning the low five after a victory………who cares, the games over.
You want to tell me I cant celebrate a win with my goalie. This is coaching.
“take your time and hurry up”
PK scores…has 6 points in 6 games…makes a mistake…gets benched. If MT treated everyone like this, there would be nobody on the ice.
Therrien will be gone before PK. Fans aren’t stupid, the radio hosts aren’t stupid and management is not stupid. It will be Therrien and no one else. Insert Sidney Crosby here now.

Seriously, PK is good.
Therrien seems to be looking for a reason to bench him.
Same for Eller (though not on the same level).
Ref after the game: *snaps fingers together* I was this close to crushing the Habs’ morale and ruining their season.
What an embarrassment tonight was…hopefully these times will teach this team to help them overcome and eventually (whether this season or down the road) make it to the top.
I dunno, as upsetting as it was, it was more flukey than anything.
I don’t think Habs blowing a third period lead can be considered a fluke anymore. They’ve been pretty consistent doing it for the last couple of years.
Yeah … well … damn … you’re right.
Have to agree with this. It’s scary how bad it’s been.
I have a questions – that iPhone HIO app. Is it not intended to allow us to post, or is something screwed up in my settings?
ur settings
“take your time and hurry up”
If you have an earlier version of an iPhone, like the 3G,you might encounter that problem.
Word is that Ryan O’Reilly’s days in Denver are done. Apparently, the Avs are looking for a roster player and a prospect in return. So I ask you, oh wise commentariat:
Do we want to see this guy in the bleu blanc rouge? If so, who could we move to get the deal done?
PK and Eller for O’Reilly is the most logical trade.
Don’t drink and post.
We should prolly throw in AGally too. I mean ,we gotta be fair.
If Mt and PK are going to feud for the next 2 years and PK leaves for greener ($$$$) pastures do O’Reilly for PK now and get it over with.

I can only hope that when it’s time to re-sign PK in 2 years, Therrien won’t be here. I can’t see Subban re-signing with Therrien still being the coach.
Therrien in all likelihood will be gone by then.
Time to elevate another l’Antichambre member to replace him.
Probably Mario Tremblay.
Will Patrick Roy be the next coach of the Canadiens or Nordiques
@Commandant. I’m with you on that amigo. Unfortunately I killed the Single Malt in OT and I’m into the Wife”s Gin now. 3 more wins to complete the Mojo! Time to watch the Stars/Oilers. Saludos!

Do you folks think Bergevin got PK’s back and is a counterbalance to Therrien’s hate for Habs’ best D man, or Bergevin is with Therrien on that one?
I’m out. That ending was pathetic in my opinion.
I like that new Play-by-Play feature. it look promising.
Good night all !
I think PK’s new contract excludes overtime pay………..
“take your time and hurry up”
Timo, I recommend Prozac. give that a few months, then give lithium a shot. And there’s always ECT. Ian, klonopin should aid you. Everyone else… i dunno, glasses?
PK MADE THE WORST DEFENSIVE PLAY OF THE GAME.
I love him as a player on my team. But tonight, he started the comeback that has you all on the edge of a cliff, fyi.
Do you honestly think PK is so dumb that he has to be sat to figure that out? Sitting our best D in that situation is not brilliant coaching. Period.
Well, he’s been a a defensive gambler his since the beginning. So apparently he has not learned.
And the “situation” you refer to… where they dominated the OT and did not commit a goofy penalty (like PK has done at the end of at least two close games)? And then won the game with that separatist devil?
Everyone can have an opinion, but the conspiracy theories on here are ridiculous. No surprise, it is the internet.
Three goals in four games though is pretty impressive regardless of his terrible faults, and apparently, he is the only player on the team to have faults.
Having it work out in OT does not necessarily make the decision right.
Speaking of goofy penalties, I give you Pleks.
Anyway, I’ll stick with my point that sitting someone is sometimes a very weak response.
One more thing before I head, I don’t see this as a conspiracy thing. We are debating the wisdom, or lack of same, of sitting PK in this instance.
you are debating the wisdom of it, yes. but if you don’t see the paranoia on here from a high amount of those posting, then there is no way you we can see where each other is coming from. the nonsense I heard about the Desharnais situation on 690 right before the game tells me something about the mindset up there.
And no, the win does not prove its wisdom, but it certainly provides no evidence that it was the wrong decision.
Funny that no one speaks about Plekanic’s lazy man’s penalty again late in the game giving them essentially 2 man advantage. He is not benched and is out immediately in the OT. Pk figured in all 3 goals for us tonight. If there was a 4th assist he would have got it for holding of the Tampa player with one hand powering out from behind the net and moving the puck up to Eller, Moen and Armstrong. One play and he is benched . Why wasn’t Markov benched in the Leafs game. BS. Talk to PK after the game. Now we have traded Eller if the story is true. Who is running this ffnn circus. called the Canadiens
Hmm… I don;t think I told you guys/girls but – I hate Therrien.
This is getting rideculious. We win, are better than last year and everyone wants to get rid of every player, coach and G.M. Is there anyone on this team who everyone can agree on who deserves to play for the Habs?
Mr. Biter
No Guts No Glory
Price
Halak deserves more
See? Thanks Timo.
Mr. Biter

Eller needs better linemates, more time on ice.
Benching PK during the most important part of the night is not coaching.
TB was lucky to get a point of tonight, Montreal took it to them all night long.
4 on 3 OT and no goal, did I mention PK….tick tick tick

Does the NHL.com website realize that their pick for the number 1 star of this game was benched for most of the last ten minutes of the game? Just wondering.
So… will Stubbs or Hickey ask Therrien why PK didn’t see any ice in OT or last few minutes of the third? Was he the only one that made a mistake this game?
I know they won’t ask but I really wish they did.
Subban did play in the last few minutes of the third and he did get a shift in OT.
–Go Habs Go!–
It’s like C.H.eering for the f’n team that faces the Harlem Globetrotters night-in night-out
A little feeling I have about PK’s treatment and usage
Hopefully the team Bergevin has built around him will, talk sense into him, and He and Therrien can put their feelings aside for their obvious dislike of PK’s style of play and or enthusiasm or personality, If not then Therrien must go.. I know i have been hard on the PK’s holdout contract situation, but he is a star and Bergevin, Bergeron antichambre and Therrien can play DD until there jobs fall apart But PK is the best player on this team, and his potential is limitless with proper motivation and coaching.
I agree 100% that coaches have no damned business imposing personal likes and dislikes upon the organization (like JM did with Sergei Kostitsyn, for instance). Therrien’s job is to help PK be the elite player he can be, not run him out of town. Same for Eller (minues the ‘elite player’ part). These are young guys. Huge resevoirs of patience are called for just as much as tough love.
That said, it’s super easy for fans to drive from the backseat. Say you’re Therrien and you give PK specific instructions to do X, or not do Y, and then he goes out and does the opposite, repeatedly. You HAVE to come down on him, you HAVE to send that message. Otherwise the inmates are running the asylum, and in the final analysis you aren’t doing your job in helping him reach his full potential by insisting that he correct mistakes.
It’s simply too soon to tell whether Therrien is mishandling his young talent. Hell, it was too soon to tell whether this was true of Martin as well. If we end up trading Subban on Therrien’s watch, only then will we have decisive evidence that MT is the drooling orangutan I said he was when we hired him. Until them, it’s wait and see.
someone saying Chucky is not ready for the NHL. some of the veterans the way they’re playing shouldn’t be on this team either.
Blow a 3-goal lead. what kind of a team is this. They would be a joke in the playoffs. If they don’t get any better. I hope they don’t make it that far. It would be an embarrassment to the Fans and the City of MONTREAL.
They would get whooped on the scoreboard and physically. Start playing like men.
No kidding, at this point it would be a fast first round knock out.
P Roy talking about how PK tends to always try the complicated play 3 times in the 1st period alone he counted 3 and then Roy talks calmly about how he would like to see PK try and make simple plays using his speed give and go’s , Vinny D also talks and he also talks about how PK tends to try and do things on his own, and they are both right, at the same time they praise his speed and skills but PK is a work in process …The first goal was a combo of PK and Cole brain farting
Cause we are loyal maybe to you another word but oh we’ll our choices Go Habs Go
@@Ian. The guys on L”Antichambre pointed the same thing out. They seem to think that PK was benched because he screwed up on the first Tampa goal.Le Tigre thought it was a mistake to not have PK out on the 4 on 3 OT.
Thanks!

I have to ask you good people… why do you continue to love and support this team? The organization continues to put a big on up our rear ends by picking terrible coaches and GMs. The team has not been competitive, save one season, for 20 years.
There is no indication that anything position is going to happen during Bergevin/Therrien era. It will most likely be marked by departure of Subban and perhaps even Price because once again, personal likes and dislikes from the coach.
Why do you all continue watch, support, buy tickets, subscribe to cable channel, etc… (I know why I do it… I am sick and there is no cure for me… but why do you?)
Misery loves company,Timo.
It does look that way, doesn’t it? I honestly think that I do have a problem for continuing to watch and follow this bullshit of a team.
That’s the nature of loyalty, Timo.
You are being ridiculously premature in *assuming* the new regime is just like the old one, based on one horrible loss and one near-death experience.
And even if you aren’t, that’s what being a fan is. You think we’ve had it rough as Habs fans? Please. Try the Leafs, or Islanders, or Oilers, or Buffalo, or one of any number of other organizations I could name.
It’s worse than that, Timo. Only two Cups in the last 34 years. That’s more than a serious slump.

The Habs finished ranked 28th last season.
This season, those rotten Habs are now tied for 7th in the rankings:

Nobody else said it, so I guess it’s left to me.
Why do you still support this team? If you didn’t, why else would you be one of the posters who spends more time on this Site than probably 75% of the rest of the posters? I like you, I totally understand your frustration too, but this team got a well deserved 2 pts tonight And they are 7-4-1. Only 1 point behind the mighty Leafs who TSN is touting to be the next Stanley Cup Champs, and the Habs have a game in hand too.
2 very flukey late goals tonight, or the Habs get an easy regulation win.
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
Carey Price
Lee crashes into Price, and they benefit, when Frankie retaliates. Suddenly its a 4 on 4 , they pull the goalie, and ‘BOOM’, 3-2 with 1:40 left to play.
So i guess it pays to run the goalie, at that point they have nothing to lose. Refs should not have penalized the Habs for that.
That was a *facepalm* moment. Running the goalie actually resulted in Tampa having the advantage, who knew? The joker who ran Price should have got more.
Markov should only be out there on the pp … that was kind of a joke
This is last year all over again. This bunch cannot hold a lead in the third period. Nice to win one in the SO, but why are they giving away points? What’s missing, good teams don’t collapse the way this one does.
