The Canadiens match a streak they were on from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4, when they beat the Flyers, the Bruins twice and Ottawa.
To honour Mats Sundin, the Leafs played like all the crappy teams number 13 captained.
The Eastern Conference standings are still a logjam, but as long as your Montreal Canadiens keep winning …
Carey Price made 32 saves for the shutout

…Randy Cunneyworth …VERY interesting IF Our Boys keep playing this kind of hockey …make the playoffs …and excel …and, whether Our Franco-confreres will accept (turn a convenient ‘blind eye’) to His unilingualism for next season ?
…IF I was Geoff Molson, I would parachute into The Goat’s office to direct Him to start registering Cunney into an intensive Berlitz course for the off-season …and, ask Cunneyworth live full-time in Montreal to make it easier to pick-up
…Randy Cunneyworth is making hockey much more FUN for The Boys than Jacques Martin ever did …and, increasingly, We are seeing the results of a very Player-friendly and competent Head Coach
…He’s letting the Players’ play to Their strengths yet in a systematic way, and not forcing square pegs into round holes

Don’t believe he will make it! Too radical with this attempting to fore check and score in the third period or when you have the lead. Too foreign a concept for the Habs!!
@FlyingFrenchie LOL!!!!!!!!
I’m not a Tanker (sorry HH) but people even thinking about playoffs right now … you have to to stop.
It’s awesome to shut-out the Leafs at home, but let’s stay real: the Habs have won four in a row … and are still tied for second-last in the conference, exactly three points away from last.
It’s basically impossible.

Now young feller, we will have none of that logical talk here! When GOD is on your side, who can be against you!
Okay, Buttman and his gang, the Bears, the Laffs, TSN, CBC plus Choke Cherry. Just goes to show where they’re heading…h.e.double hockey sticks!
Betcha.
What if they win another 4 in a row?
I’ll take my motherinlaw to see male strippers!
LOL
There are three teams tied tonight for second to last, and Montreal isn’t one of them.
They are four points out of last, and while that isn’t anything to write home about, they are playing much more enjoyable hockey that they were a month and a half ago.
And it doesn’t hurt to hope that they can do it, especially if they are entertaining us while they try.

does anybody think , tinordi can step in next year as a rookie like pk did, and make a impact right away.
Nope, and PK spent a season in the AHL first. Expect Tinordi may need two.
not even with the size he carries ,just putting it out there as my own opinion
Skinny, needs to beef up. He’s no Gilles Lupien.
could he be a cris pronger type, with less points but just as mean
No. PK is about three times as talented, and he spent a year in the AHL. Tinordi is a “project” player. If he makes the NHL, it will be about three years from now.

Have a bet going with a buddy that he won’t score 20 goals this year. Bet was made last night, this is not what I wanted to see. Still, he’s an overrated prima donna. He’s not dynamic, he’s one dimensional.
Bourque is a much better fit with the 2nd round pick and the prospect than Cammy was at double the price. I wish Cammy well but it was not working here
Happy Mats Sundin Day! LOL!
Maybe all the team needed was to relax…Price included. P.K. seems to have settled down, and they look to be in better shape…cardio-wise. Is R.C. working them harder in practice? Shutting out the Leafs in T.O., is worth ten wins over any other team (except the Bruins). I hate the Bruins worse than the Leafs!

i think missing training camp contributed to Eller’s slow start as well
i agree but needs more lbs and seasoning 1 or 2 more years he should be fine
The guy has talent, he wouldn’t be a number one guy IMO, but for a 2nd line player, hang onto him.

Bad, but good!
A week ago tonight, Laffs beat Ottawa 5-0, Toronto commentators, particularly Joe Bowen, all giddy with excitement,,,says Leafs don’t really need to do anything at trade deadline.
Reaction tonight from them..somewhat more muted.
Really hoping the Habs don’t mirror they Leafs after their 5-0 win.
lol joe bowen. i havent heard him use “reiminister” for a while. what a moron.

7 back with 26 games to go, lot of games and points up for grabs. If habs continue to play well, you just never know.
As for tomorrow, let’s go rangers.
With Cammy 16-21-8, without 7-3-1
I think I figured it out…once Gomez changed his number from 91 to 11 he started sucking so he just needs to switch back and he’ll become gomerific!
I sent a tweet to the Globe and Mail’s Leafs reporter about Grabovsky and he got all pissy with me. Man, Leaf media are a bunch of homers.

off topic just a little bit, but somebody posted earlyer about if the habs gave up anything for sundink. I was understanding that gainey gave to toronto one of our top prospects,at the time a kid named valentinko. can anybody confirm? thanks to who ever can answer this for myself and other true habs fans. cheers to the boys for the win 2nite
sorry all forgot to mention is was for the right to talk to him

Gainey traded a draft pick for the rights to talk to him.
Oh yeah !
Does not get any better than this. Saturday night spanking the Leafs in front of the whole country !
Solid effort by everyone, that`s the only way and the results are there. Great game by Price ,you could see it in his his body language.
Man did Eller ever make an orange cone out of Phaneuf !
Could say nice things about everyone actually cause basically the Habs were in control all night long and the Leafs stunk real bad !
Good evening everyone !
All we need to get into the playoffs and win the cup is Markov back and Parros. So PG you need to make one move that’s it, get Parros ASAP.
Well we showed we can win without moen so I’d say trade him for a 2nd? If we can get that for him.
Watched Ott v Edm earlier and Eager was not too bad for a meathead. He’s got 6 goals this year! i imagine the Oilers would trade him for very little in return
Eager would be a good pickup.
So what’s our magic number?

Price is an ALL STAR, when the game is meaningless. Enjoy 11th place.
He was an All-Star against the Bruins in the Playoffs last year, pretty meaningful games IMO.
Don’t refer to playoffs, no concept of what that is
He blew it and choked coming home with a 2-0 series lead losing both games in Montreal and four out of the next five. It was not ’til game 6 when he ended a three YEAR home ice losing streak in the playoffs. In five years he has won a single (one) round in the playoffs. Put down the Kool-Aid. He’s in 14th place in GAA and 23rd in save % right now wtf are you crowing about?
You really are a sad little person. You’re obviously not a Habs fan if you can’t support the team when it’s winning games and can only focus on singling out individual players in a warped fashion regarding what transpired in the past.

The league needs to get rid of GOONS LIKE BROWN.Why are the Leafs exempt of getting penalties .
The Darche-Plex-Bourque line was dominant tonight. They played in the 20 minute range and were the top PK unit. All three were +2. Gomez by contrast played 11:26 TOI with 0:06 seconds on the PP and 0:22 short handed, no points, +/- 0, 4-6 on face-offs for 40%. Gomez is the 4th line centre now.
Psst, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, we won.
———————————————————————-
“Wins? We don’t need no stinkin’ wins!”

Four in a row, I called it a week ago.
The Pleky line was damn solid tonight, there’s a real chemistry happening there. Any luck and that plinko by Bourque would have gone in.
We still need White back *and* a heavyweight. You wouldn’t see Brown, Phaneuf and other chickenshi*s doing stuff like the one handed spear on Leblanc or dogging PK at the end.
And nice call on the high stick to Max’s face. Knuckles is right. The officiating is so inconsistent it’s really infuriating. And dangerous I might add.
With all due apologies… I think Bertuzzi called this streak Man… and he’s still working it! But in keeping with the joy… he’ll share!
There is one player PG might be able to get that I think would put this team over the top Parros. This team would grow 3 inches and put on 35 lbs of muscle per player with him. Sorry Gomez that was another nothing game and I rather have Parros on the forth line right now instead of you figure skating out there.
He’s also, by comparison, make Gomez look like a sniper.
Love Parros, it would be a dream to see him, or, a player even remotely similar to him on the Habs!

The guys you mentioned had backup as well as potential replacements. You’re right about the hair on the bols but don’t forget we don’t have depth, at least not of what PK’s packing. Or did pack last year. And will next year. If he separates his shoulder, gets a concussion we are back to the links.

Nice win. Was expecting a much more tight game.
Maybe this is all just a nefarious Leaf plot to ruin the Habs’ draft position. I really hope the Habs don’t come out flat on Monday or from hereon. Always dangerous.
so…7pts. behind the Leafs… wasn’t it just a week ago we were 12 pt. out and everyone was writing us off….couple more wins and we’re right back into the thick of things
The winning streak has to continue. They can’t play .500 hockey or allow for two losses in a row at this point.
If the Habs have 5 more wins than losses by the end of the month, then they are in the thick of things. Right now they are just officially not Tanking™ at the moment.
