Liveblog: Canadiens break Leaf jinx

162806165_slide

HUGE win.
Your Montreal Canadiens scored three unanswered goals in the thirds period to break open a 2-2 game and finally rack up a W against Toronto.
Rookie Brendan Gallagher’s sixth of the season was the winner.
Red-hot Max Pacioretty’s second goal made it 4-2 and Brian Gionta stripped Phil Kessel to cinch it with an empty-netter.
The Canadiens outshot the home team 40-23.

David Desharnais had two assists for the Canadiens, who played a dominant and disciplined game, taking only one minor penalty.

The Canadiens have at least a point in nine straight games and sit atop the Eastern Conference.

It was their first win in Ontario this season.

Must be proud to be a Leafs Captain go after Gallagher all game & then Prust has a few words with Phaneuf as well as challenging him to a fight and Gallagher is left alone for the rest of the game…..

  2. songles says:

Good times. Wish I could have watched this one tonight.

  3. frontenac1 says:

I love Bleuets manchette on AC.”Phaneuf Aime Les Petites!!Then he went on to laugh at Phaneuf for pussying out with Prust!

  4. PrimeTime says:

  5. Propwash says:

So I guess this blows the whole “we need goons” theory out of the water.

Love how Ferro says on Mtl first goal that Habs have 6 men in play due to the delayed pentalty – Montreal’s 6th player was at centre ice when the puck went into the net…….

  9. Texus says:

Typical Leafs apologists on TSN bitching about the penalty and faceoff

  10. Prairienewf says:

Faceoff was fine. Its been the new NHL’s way since 2005. Gotta be set all the time or else

  21. ThirtyThree says:

This team has no idea what it’s doing. Like, why did they trade Cole yesterday? They should have waited till tonight, and made him hit the showers in the middle of the game. Freaking clueless.

  22. kirbhabs says:

  39. donmarco says:

A very well deserved win. Disciplined road game. Very well done, boys.

    • athanor says:

It seems to me that the Habs do better when they treat every game as if it were a home game. The concept of grinding out a road win kind of offends me — why shouldn’t they play their game, which is attack-oriented, wherever they are?
Last season seemed like 82 road games. Today’s game, while on the road, featured Montreal attacking and dominating the Leafs. If that’s how they play road games the rest of the way, I for one will be delighted.

  40. w.p.d says:

Sub an tried the celebration with Price

  41. RockinRey says:

    Max, gally, gorges!

  59. SuperHabFan says:

People hating on gionta I hope you do realize that that line always plays versus the other teams top line. Ya sucks he’s not scoring but this run we’re on doesn’t t happen without that line.

  60. RockinRey says:

I am still hoping they finish better in next few games and dont drag things out

  61. HNS says:

  65. RockinRey says:

    Was it ever in doubt?!

  66. db says:

No regulation losses, a point in every game, since the last time they played T.O. If they keep it up another week, that’ll be a month. Well played road game in Ontario, again! And no points for the Laffs..

  67. kirbhabs says:

Solid game, we handled the hitting and out muscling… thankfully the leafs did not goon it up to their potential… just a little bit

  68. Boomer says:
