Liveblog: Four in a row

ACCside

The Canadiens match a streak they were on from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4, when they beat the Flyers, the Bruins twice and Ottawa.
To honour Mats Sundin, the Leafs played like all the crappy teams number 13 captained.
The Eastern Conference standings are still a logjam, but as long as your Montreal Canadiens keep winning …

Carey Price made 32 saves for the shutout

bold prediction: Habs make playoffs, Leafs do not.

    Good night.

  2. slapshot777 says:

Shouldn’t Ryan White have his four game conditioning stint over. He should be called back up either tomorrow or Monday. I expect Sunday because the Habs are playing on Monday.

  3. FlyingFrenchie says:

Bob Gainey was in disguise at the ACC as a Parisian organ grinder. Is it too late to get the monkey off his back?

  4. RC-51 says:

    1. Good game and good streak
    2. As season begins want/expect nothing but victories and play-offs and STANLEY
    3. As season went on accepted the inept success and realized if they make play-offs not much success is/was to be had
    4. Winning now will ONLY get us a bad draft pick
    5. Was getting excited about Fail for Nail
    6. Saw B.Gainey was at ACC?
    7. FIRE P.G and DON’T LET HIM MAKE ANY DECISIONS REGARDING NEXT YEAR AND THE FUTURE OF MY BELOVED CLUBE DE HOCKEY CANADIENS!!!!

  5. Timo says:

Fuaaah.. .seriously? We are still second last in the east after 4 straight?

Bad day for deaths – Trent Frayne long time sports writer dead at
93 (was married to June Callwood)…….

  7. Timo says:

I hope Sundin enjoyed his special night.
That being said, it’s too early to celebrate. habs are still too far out of the playoffs and i think another 6 in a row are due in order to be in the race.

I hope White and Moen return soon cause it was annoying to see BS Brown was trying to pull. Cole is clearly banged up but I hope it’s something minor. Can’t afford to lose that guy.

Awesome Saturday night. Van-Cal is a heck of a game too.

    • HabsfanoftheHabs says:

Ya, well said. That Brown shit was from a bull. I look forward to what White brings as it’s got to help extend this streak!

    • Chris says:

To be fair to Brown, I think many here would have been lamenting the lack of a fighter to go after a player that leg whipped Pacioretty or Desharnais if the shoe was on the other foot. I really don’t get why Subban does stuff like that…I don’t think it is intentional, but that is an AWFUL habit to have, kicking that foot out.

    Breaking News…
Leaf goalies have been taken to hospital.
Inside sources tell us that one breaks out in hives, and has uncontrollable twitches at the sight of rubber.
While the other tried to escape earlier in the season.. Which explains why he is always handcuffed
    whenever he’s on the ice.

  9. HabsfanoftheHabs says:

I recognize the task is more than a challenge but I will stay optimistic till the end.

For those who shun squeaking in, at this point, I would be very happy with a first round shot at the NYR .

    Maybe that’s getting a head of ourselves…

  10. DorvalTony says:

Bring back Stewie, the perfect fourth line crash and mayhem winger for Ryan White’s other side. 25 years old, gave up on him too soon.

It has been awhile since HIO crossed the 1,000 barrier. What a bunch of FANactics we are! A whiff of the play-offs and we are truly off to the races.

  12. Habitant in Surrey says:

…$hit, I was so giddy watching My Habs tonight …feet tripping the light fantastic …then Otter 649 below points-out Whitney Houston died

…life sure teases Us, and then kicks the $hit out of Us at times, doesn’t it ?

…what a waste of a beautiful voice …should have been Brown to go first, …but then I’m NOT Gawd

She had it in the 80′s and early 90′s, fame and fortune got to her

In her prime, she had the pipes though.

Just read the game reports from the TO papers. Reimer getting the finger pointed at him big time. It couldn’t have anything to do with the Habs effort could it?

  14. Shane1313 says:

    Is that Mats’ wife????
    Oh my.
I’d be a leaf fan for that.
Actually I’d love to meet the Sundins.

  15. billylove says:

This streak needs to extend out for 4 or 5 more wins to start talking playoffs.

  16. boing007 says:

I decided to watch the RDS feed. I didn’t want to even give the Leaf Nation HNIC crew the time of day. Good choice.

This is kind of funny. On the Leafs blog’ game thread there’s a guy who keeps arguing that the Leafs are actually dominating based on the Corsi.

All the other posters keep telling him that the score shows the opposite, and he just keeps coming back to the Corsi proving the Leafs are really playing the better game. Even at 4-0 he’s sticking to his guns.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

    • HabFab says:

Noticed Berkie there, went no further. Fenwick and Corsi gives me headaches.

    • Chris says:

I run into this with theoretical scientists all the time (I’m an experimentalist). They fall in love with their math and forget that the whole point of the exercise is to understand what you are observing, as opposed to ignoring what you are seeing because it doesn’t fit the math you have come up with.

If your model doesn’t explain why the team is struggling, then you have two options: the intellectually lazy and dishonest (and completely unscientific) approach is to steadfastly stick to your guns and assign the discrepancy to luck, or you dissect your model and look for flaws.
