Liveblog: Canadiens eliminated

FlyersCelebrate

The Canadiens’ 4-1 loss in Philadelphia, combined with Buffalo’s home win, eliminates our heroes from playoff contention.
Surprised?
Only that it took this long.

Purina Kubina would not try that with anyone his size!

  2. Wayne says:

I don’t understand the unconditional love for DD. There’s no doubt he plays above his stature and has talent. BUT, he has to work on his on-ice vision in the offensive zone. His tendency to over skate a play with the puck then dish it off at the worst time is annoying. Especially if one of his wingers are ready in front of the net. He’s more apt to bringing it back around and pass it to a point man which increases the risk that we’ll lose possession at the blue line. He also drags his ass when we’re on a rush and is often late as a trailer.

OK, having said that – yeah, he’s on a line that kicks ass but he’d have twice the points he has if he played smarter.

  3. HabinBurlington says:

Blunden owes Gorges one after that. Blunden was late delivering the hit and Gorges had to eat a few.

  4. Timo says:

    Heh… talk about a mismatch.

  5. shootdapuck says:

What do you bet that the Habs pump one with 5 minutes left and then spend the last minutes of the game furiously buzzing around the Philly end to no avail.

    It’s the standard script!

  6. pmaraw says:

Edmonton at Columbus tomorrow could have us tied for 2nd

  7. Habitant in Surrey says:

…Francis right there is no place for forgiveness for obscene crimes of Graham James …and can not believe the judge that sentenced James to only 2 years jail time could look himself in the mirror at night

  8. Dust says:

Listening to the hotstove here. They are basically saying that keith’s elbow to the sedins head was bad(which it was). However, they are saying if he fought sedin instead for retaliation it would have been ok… So elbow to the head = no good. punching a guy multiple times in the head = good. hmmmmm

  9. jo_maka says:

I’m a Tank advocate, not really Infantry inclined if you will. However, I’m still not confident enough of whoever gets to draft, Timmins aside, so I wouldn’t put it pas the Habs to draft yet another Dman. Here’s hoping they prove me wrong.

  10. Habitant in Surrey says:

    …I’m sorry Francis …bull$hit
…if that intention to hurt and hit to head was realized on a sidewalk rather than on ice …it is criminal assault
…10 games minimum if not balance of season
…don’t give Me any excuses for that Keith hit
    …zero excuses !

  11. Da Hema says:

I feel sorry for Boone. Only a little over 300 comments now. The Habs’s losses must be cutting into his profits — and thus the quantity of hashish he can buy….

  12. HabinBurlington says:

How come Mario doesn’t show how the Habs won 6 more games the season after they got rid of him?

  13. Habitant in Surrey says:

…nice credit for Hall Gill from Josh …hope Hal comes back to Montreal at some point as an asst coach or management

  14. HardHabits says:

Tanking days are here at last as the summer evenings grow
Not since the flower, some fire power, we’ll get a draft pick who knows.

I said it’s alright. You know it’s alright – to add some skill to this heart

We’re in the lottery, this time and only. Is just a way to construct.

  15. A lot of people upset with my tank chants. Look respected gentlemen..and ladies, I love this team. Seeing them lose kills me. I am supporting this team to tank now. And trust me.. it gives me more pain than pleasure to say Tank les boys tank. I have had to stone myself as a fan. I just want them to be rewarded as much as possible for this stinker of a season and get the best prospect available. I won’t be chanting the words tank the moment the season ends.
After all.. deep inside my heart will always yell go habs go..

  16. punkster says:

Thank heavens. But how was a penalty not called?

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  17. HabinBurlington says:

Emelin apparantly loved the American after school show, Saved by the Bell.

  18. duffy says:

Three pp,s and not one shot on goal, not hard to understand why this team is in last place.

  19. Mattyleg says:

    Haha Boone.
    “Over”
I’ll meet you on the Jaqcues Cartier Bridge.
    Nice night for a jump.

    I’ve been saaaaved!!

  20. HabinBurlington says:

Very nifty pass there by Paloosh

  21. shootdapuck says:

Boone, how much longer do we endure Cherry?

Barring an act of Parliament one more year!

The people’s broadcaster cannot afford a new contract!

Bi Bi Milbury, Stock, Healy, Cole, Galley, Hughson, Maclean, Francis and the rest of the HNIC Laffs shills!

Outside the Laff nation nobody will miss any of you!

  22. JIMVINNY says:

Total BS that that didn’t get called. It wasn’t on the follow through, just coburn basically clotheslining Patches with his stick.

  23. jo_maka says:

For whoever will be our GM next season: sign Jagr and see Pleks fly, you’ll have enough to sign a Colaiacovo if it floats your boat. Of course all that considering that you’ll follow the time honored Habs tradition of never getting the grand prize in UFApalooza.

  24. Castor says:

Man I hope they continue to lose

  25. kempie says:

I will pay top dollar right now for two bags of whatever Borque is on. Dude is in a coma so deep that the unresponsive, catatonic state of consciousness shall now also be known as a “borque”. Like “my buddy fell off the roof and he’s been in a borque ever since”.

  26. punkster says:

White. Always in the middle of things.

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  27. jedimyrmidon says:

Don’t take more stupid penalties… please… PK can’t bail them out tonight.

  28. JIMVINNY says:

I wonder what our PK % with Budaj is compared to the same with Price.

  29. Barts says:

In a slump? Haven’t scored in a while? Need a little lift to get out of that funk? No worries, you’ll soon be playing the Montreal Canadiens.

  30. danhabsfan says:

For all you Price haters…now you see the difference… especially on the PK.

  31. Kimberly2u says:

    Boone is so dramatic…over. Lol

  32. danhabsfan says:

Where did the PK go tonight…. Just Horrible
    (man I hate the Flyers)

  33. HabinBurlington says:

Like most goalies today Budaj down early.

  34. Adidess says:

It’s a good thing we don’t need a win. How frustrating would this game be!

  35. jedimyrmidon says:

    PK meltdown….

  36. jo_maka says:

Kabby must be trying to understand the form he has to fill for Quebec’s parental leave. You know he’s gotta sign with a mini pen too…

  37. punkster says:

Oh, Mr. Bourque. Please get some help over the summer.

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  38. Barts says:

How useless is Rene Bourque?? I mean, can he look any more dis-interested?

  39. HardHabits says:

    Powerless Play

  40. jedimyrmidon says:

    Facepalm…

  41. L Elle says:

Where the heck is Kaberle? Breast feeding?

No matter the Kaberle hate, I liked the PP with him.

  42. punkster says:

Gee Mike, the PP has been useless most nights. Another of those items on the “things to do” list in the off season.

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  43. danhabsfan says:

Boone… the PP is useless almost every night

  44. Sal from the Hammer says:

Does Bourque ever win a puck battle?

    Seriously!!!

  45. shootdapuck says:

    Max looks lost!

  46. jedimyrmidon says:

Yeah, you can tell things are falling apart for the Habs. No confidence in their zone entry. Giveaways. Running into each other.

  47. CHicoHab says:

    Coach’s corner,Clowns corner what’s the diff

  48. shootdapuck says:

LL is indeed visible just not anywhere near the puck.

  49. Big kudos to Plaushaj who has 4 points in last 6 games.

  50. mrhabby says:

    Punkster….Cherrys suit is easter pink.

  51. jo_maka says:

Bourque is much maligned around here, and rightfully so given his performance, or lack thereof. But there is one thing that always happens: the PK get all sorts of breakaway whenever he’s on.
I think he’ll do better next year when the dust – from being traded from his native region to a moribond team with a truckload of management issues in its worst year yet – finally settled.

  52. shootdapuck says:

RDS boys are mentioning “confusion” during the PK.

    Just a tad!

  53. danhabsfan says:

Game can end at this score and it would be a great night for the Habs

    • smiler2729 says:

Habs can win this one. They’ve got to get the Flyers out of their psyche.

Plekanec is trying to impress his Czech hero.

  55. jedimyrmidon says:

Nooo, why are the Habs faltering at PKing today.

  56. HardHabits says:

I’ve been mulling something over. 24 Cups has been noting that the Habs weakness ATM is left wing. Wouldn’t that make Filip Forsberg the logical choice of available? I hear that he is considered the most NHL ready of the top 10 picks.

    • smiler2729 says:

Better him than one of the Russians who would bolt for the KHL at the first sign of a contract disagreement.

Is Emelin signed for Montreal next year or is he going back after this season?

    • Dust says:

If they choose to draft for need. I think the habs will take who they think is the best player available even if they have an organizational need for LW. I mean when they drafted price at number 5 they had theo who was playing like a franchise goalie at the time

  57. CHicoHab says:

Nice of Cherry to mention Coles natural hat trick in the first period against Ottawa!!!

  58. Kimberly2u says:

I’ve lost count the number of breakaways Pleks has had

  59. Mavid says:

    What a beauty

  60. Dust says:

For all the hype shenn gets as prospect… I just don’t see him becoming a star. not from what i’ve seen of him in the nhl

  61. shootdapuck says:

Pleks is having a good time with Lars!

  62. HabinBurlington says:

So perhaps next year we see Eller/Plex/Gionta?

  63. Habitant in Surrey says:

    …Tomas Kadri !!!
… I thought the trade deadline already Passed ?

  64. danhabsfan says:

    Nice to see Pleks score
So much for Boone’s shutout guess

  65. neumann103 says:

    My Two Boys!!!!
    Plekanec from Eller

    “Et le but!”

  66. Chuck says:

For a guy that’s consistently good on breakaways, he sure does suck in the shootout. :)

  67. punkster says:

Pleks! Trade him while his value is high.

    DO IT PG!!!

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  68. jo_maka says:

Oh Lars !!!! That was a beaut’

  69. JIMVINNY says:

Now that is a breakaway goal!

  70. jedimyrmidon says:

Yeah!!! Pleks scores on a breakaway! Finally!

  71. HabinBurlington says:

Does any team in the league chase the puck more in their own end than our Habs?

edit, oh my reverse jinx worked ;-)

  72. duffy says:

Cherry says someone has to pay for Kadri being left in ahl for last 3 years . Dont sappose he was referring to someone with the initials BB

  73. Bertuzzi says:

Interesting strategy tonight: dump and don’t chase.

  74. Sal from the Hammer says:

    Boone,3-0 Philly works for me.
