Liveblog: Another blown lead

New Jersey owned the third period, scoring three unanswered goals to win a game the Canadiens had led 3-1.
The loss dropped the Canadiens 12 points out of the final playoff spot.
It just ain’t gonna happen.

Michael Blunden is shown in the pic taking a vicious hit from behind by Elias. Blunden did not return.

  1. TomThompson says:

Is Cole tired or just injured? He was barely moving that shift~

  2. Habitant in Surrey says:

…watching the MSG+ stream via Sweden’s VIASAT (satellite) channel
…quite a different and exotic way to watch a Habs game …commercials in Swedish, interspersed with leggy Swedish blondes and Brit gambling promos, and I must say the MSG+ play-by-play and colour comments are much more balanced and easy to listen with than HNIC’s
…re the game, …ain’t Our Team frustrating ??? …looks like a Pee Wee team one night, and a Stanley Cup pretender the next …argghh šŸ™‚
    …what a Dog Breakfast of a season …eh ?

    Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY

    • HardHabits says:

Almost any game that they looked too good in it could be said it was due to a crap night for the opposition goal tender. The games that mattered, the close ones, the ones where they grabbed the lead first, they lost too many of those. Not being able to score goals with the man advantage and a defence that is too small and inexperienced coupled with a stodgy coach put this team in a hole early. Bourque for Cammy was an upgrade. Kaberle for Spacek was short term nothing for long term nothing.

I think Gomez needs to be off the team any which way and thus replaced and I am on the fence with Gionta. His 1st 2 seasons were quite decent but this one has been a disaster for him. I think he deserves to stay at least until Gallagher is ready but I would try to trade him next deadline.

One of Weber or Diaz and Gill should be replaced by decent sized skating defence men that can hit, drop’em, clear the net and chip in a blast from the blue line every once in a while.

Or the Habs go with what they have now and wait for the few prospects lined up to take a stab making the team. It’s why I think next season will be a dog’s breakfast as well.

  3. Propwash says:

Brodeur waking up, gotta keep peppering him with shots

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  6. Rudy says:

Props to the NJ commentators that I have to watch on Center Ice – the guy said – Have to give credit to Hall Gill for that smart pass, replayed so he could find out who did the pass.

  7. RockinRey says:

Some of my posts are not showing up!

  8. HabsFanMTL says:

sure would be nice to have moen and white in the line-up tonight

  11. NickDags says:

    10/10 on the dive, impressive!

  12. zaq007 says:

How does pleky get a breakaway almost every game…if he worked on scoring on those chances he’d be first on the team in no time

  13. ont fan says:

This where someone complains Pleks can’t score on a breakaway.

  14. RockinRey says:

Opportunistic of DArche. Nice speed by Pleks.

  15. JasonM says:

Man, the Jersey D of old’ is long gone.

  16. Mondou6 says:

Great hustle by Darche, wow, good for him…

  17. Propwash says:

    Well hey! Brodeur screwed up……

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  18. slapshot777 says:

    That’s how you score shorthanded.

  19. NLhabsfan says:

    Oh wow!!!

  20. jmsheehy19 says:

Horribly officiated game so far. We should have gotten two or three (especially that boarding by Pleky?) but not the Cole one. And yeah the Elias one was really bad. shoulda been 5.

EDIT: wow that was a dive by Clarkson on that Diaz call

  21. danhabsfan says:

    Another cheap call

  22. slapshot777 says:

He did save it score is still 2-1 isn’t it.

  23. RockinRey says:

Get your head out Price. What is he doing. He’s supposed to know where the puck is… very cavalier in my opionion.

They need him big time in this game!

  24. TomThompson says:

WTF was that….did he seriously fan on that puck?

  25. HardHabits says:

Chris Crocker says leave Pricey alone!!!

  26. NickDags says:

Trigger happy Lee, very patient when it comes to the Habs.

  27. Kimberly2u says:

This game is gonna be done like dinner soon

  28. Propwash says:

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  29. HardHabits says:

Nobody told me my distant cousin SoftHabits was going to be in nets tonight.

  30. slapshot777 says:

Would a NHL team survive in Regina? They seem to be good fans of the Rough Riders. They are good fans of Junior hockey. I think they could support a NHL team.

  31. krulmadden says:

Bah. A softie for Price. Doesn’t leave a damper in my pampers just yet. C’mon boys!

  32. HabsFanMTL says:

i’d try to trade for Eric Stall and ReUnite him with Eric Cole!! perhaps pleks and weber or something

  33. HardHabits says:

The good news. The Habs are going to be able to sign Price and Subban for way less this summer.

The bad news. The Habs will still pay too much for them.

Acting like 5 year olds, the debate was a waste of time then and it is a waste of time now.
Price is a top 10 goaltender. So is Halak.

Halak has let in tons of softies.
    Price has too.
Halak is tearing it up right now – GOOD FOR HIM.
Price has a 91.5% save percentage on a CRAP TEAM LIKE MONTREAL – GOOD FOR HIM.

  35. ont fan says:

Reading here is a hoot! You guys are all nuts!

  36. HabinBurlington says:

Clearly Price is holding back our PowerPlay from being more successful…

  37. slapshot777 says:

Sholi is a Halak fan plain and simple so his idiotic comments are always made to always put down either Price or any other player that he doesn’t like.

    Sholi = Halak hard on

    • Propwash says:

      You’re accusing the wrong guy…..

      Don’t let the wultures getcha.

    • DickandDanny says:

Price, his usual one bad goal a game. The same old non save on an easy shot which lets the other team back in the game. This is not about Price v Halak. This is aboput Price. Don’t attempt to conflict the situation. Price is not Patrick Roy either, or Ken Dryden for that matter, if you want to get into comparisons. But be honest the Carey Price we have all seen for the past 2-3 years is this same lackadaisical player we all have come to know. Every game, one bad goal. Every game that situational play that you have to question whether he is in the game or not. I feel bad for his teammates because in my estimation those non chalant plays do let the other players down. If you have played any sport at a competitive level you would understand that. When Price starts earning the $5 million they are going to give him then I and others will let up.

\”A cannonading blast from the wing, by Lafleur\”

  38. Mondou6 says:

    Contiuning an earlier post…

After Quebec, what do people think are the other viable Canadian markets for an NHL team?

Halifax? 2 in Toronto? Hamilton? Any other potentials?

  39. habsfanforever7631 says:

Ah come on a bad goal and some of us are crappin on Carey all ready.
Do we have a short memmory? Did we forget what happened last game?
Come on people any goaltender will let in a bad goal from time to time, no ones perfect.

  40. kempie says:

“Louder applause for Montreal metro buskers”
“Lemaire would have a bag skate between periods”

    Good material tonight Boone.

  41. eric says:

    Didn’t Muller run the PP.

  42. Propwash says:

Price lets in a softy, and the wultures swoop.
As if any and every other goaltender in the league doesn’t let in bad goals, it happens. By the way, I guess the diving save he did accounts for nothing.

    Don’t let the wultures getcha.

  43. topher5468 says:

Parise between periods interview, he said Price said “your welcome”, Well at least Carey didn’t lose his sense of Humor

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  44. upstrum says:

Right Shiloh so that’s why Halak was selected for the all star ga……wait HE WASN’T!

  45. They moved up to 29?…whose 30th???

  46. NLhabsfan says:

All kinds of opportunities with two defenseman passing to each other BUT no one near the net to deflect a pass. No wonder where 29th.

    • kbhab4ever says:

Gomez on PP .When will they ever learn? Why not try someone else on PP like Kost,Eller,Bourque. Heck they should be the 2nd line. 2 lines with skilled centers with 2 big wingers who can shoot. Why cannot the Habs see this???I have been saying/asking this since Cammy left.Rigth now we have the 2and a half men line that is set up like that.Everyone keep saying that the Habs need a big skilled center????WE HAVE ONE only he is not being used in that role.ELLER and same as Plekanec( 20 goal scorer) BUT they are both used in defenvise roles. No wonder we can’t score

  47. TomThompson says:

Has JKaberle received strict orders not to shoot in any circumstances? nice passes but what the hell…

  48. RockinRey says:

    Cole the hurdler!

  49. topher5468 says:

Ellias should be thrown out, flagrant

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  50. temekuhabs says:

    Holy crap.. Getting rough.. ELIAS???

  51. 365fan says:

If Gomez sees the ice for this pp $%$#%&^&^(^##@

What happened to making him earn his ice time?

  52. Old Bald Bird says:

If it wasn’t for the contract, I’m not sure that Gomez would make any team in the NHL.

  53. topher5468 says:

    Your an Idiot Boone,

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

What kind of acid is Chris Lee on tonight?

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  55. lavie says:

Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water.

Looks like ManApart caught himself a bucket full. Remember MA, these are the same people who thought Subban and Price for Hall and RNH was too much for the Habs to pay.

  58. lavie says:

Price is by far an average NHL goalie. Fans shouldn’t expect more from him.

  59. slapshot777 says:

What’s wrong with everyone Price played a terrific game Tuesday night and no one praised him for keeping the team in the game. Yet one bad goal and the vultures are out.

If you don’t like it go cheer for someone else.

  60. NickDags says:

Price never carried the Habs to the playoffs? LOL where were you last season??

  61. Habitant in Surrey says:

…I want the Montreal Canadiens to make My heart pump consistently with passion again …and, if it takes a Patrick Roy as Our next Coach …so be it šŸ™‚

    Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY

  62. manu07 says:

We are 11-14 when scoring first… Due to soft goals that bring the team down a lot of the times. I like price. I hope he keeps letting soft ones in so that the Habs should refuse to pay him 7 mill a season. It’s ridiculous. Keep the soft goals coming.

  63. Bertuzzi says:

Price has never carried the Habs to the playoffs. I wonder if he ever will.

  64. temekuhabs says:

Price: Even Duncan Hines probably burnt a cake or two.. No prob

  65. JoeC says:

Some of you call yourselves fans? WTF Carey hasnt let in many of those this year, give him a break, wow

  66. Rad says:

If we go on to lose this game, we will remember that goal that Price just let in as the one that ended the season.

  67. Marc10 says:

    I like this scenario.

Let’s lost 8-7. At least it will be entertaining and we’ll still be in the hunt for that top pick!

  68. topher5468 says:

Where’s Careys’ compete level, his desperation?

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  69. manu07 says:

The soft goals have killed the Habs all year. NJ scores again before the period is done and this game is ovaaaaaaa

  70. Storm Man says:

Manparts with the donkey post of the day lol

  71. Ali says:

yeah eff off patrick roy! standing up for your players! showing passion! taking the heat directly off your players and putting it squarely on yourself. screw you man

  72. HabCez says:

    That’s a ghost puck!

    “Emelin’s the real deal.”
    – HabCez

  73. Mondou6 says:

I like Price, but holy crap, these soft goals are getting so predictable. Just effing awful. And usually when there’s one, there’s more to come. It’s an omen.
