I’m glad I continue to watch the Habs, even though the season isn’t going anywhere. A game like tonight gives me hope, optimism for the future. Markov is back, our PP has looked good, and we’ve shown a lot of character and guts against a highly competitive, provocative team.

Cole much better pickup, but the Stauber provides much needed grit.
I’m totally against fighting in the NHL, but Staubitz looks like a fantastic teammate. He just looks like a real nice guy. He was laughing with the loser’s by the penalty box and helping out Weber.

Price did a lot in the 1st but then had almost nothing the rest of the way. But having Staubitz there helped give the players some room to play.
Also crappy goaltending by Luongo helped out. For once, the opposing goalie played crap.
Have Markov on the D helped enormously. And gave puck movement to a static PP.

Ya the rust was apparent on a few plays. Hesitant and a bit slower than he usually is. I bet he’ll feel real comfortable by the end of the year and he will be able get himself in real good shape for next season. I bet Kabs gets himself in real good shape in the offseason too. Pleks will crack the whip on him

No need to tank, the high draft picks this year look a lot scarier to the team that gets them than a couple of the next bacth of about 5 or so of them look anyway. Yakupov got rocked, Grigorenko is a head case, Galy has knee issues. I still want the Habs to slide in there with a 4-8 pick and grab that Faksa kid from Kitchener, his work ethic and his size are as big as his talent ratings, which makes him stand out as a safer pick with a higher low side even if his top end may not be as high (although it may well be too)

Yes.
Just curious, anyone looked up the stat on how many games the Habs have had both Price and Markov in the lineup over the past 3 seasons? Or what their record is in those games?
Seems like an awfully small number of games for a team to have it’s two most talented players in the lineup over a 3 year span. (Markov alone has only played 8 games now in two of those years and the third one, he missed the first half of the season when Price was playing well, but the team was losing and Markov returned in the second half when the Habs opted to go with their backup for the second half so Price didn’t get many games with Markov in the lineup there either, so the total can’t be very high)
5-3-0 (including a win tonight) in the past two seasons, didn’t look up the 3rd season since Markov got about 40 games in there.
