You are here: Home » Boone » Liveblog: Canadiens are 1-0 with Markov
Andrei Markov is back.
He picked up an assist on P.K. Subban’s power-play goal, and the Canadiens seemed inspired by his return, skating to a 4-1 win.
LOL, Price leaves the net with the play going on to shove Burrows after he gooned Weber … love it.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Shoved him into the arms of Mr. Staubitz. Like “Here, talk to this guy”.
I’m glad I continue to watch the Habs, even though the season isn’t going anywhere. A game like tonight gives me hope, optimism for the future. Markov is back, our PP has looked good, and we’ve shown a lot of character and guts against a highly competitive, provocative team.
What’s the deal with Kassian..
He’s nuts. He played his Jr. here. He’s nuts.
Who woulda thunk it? Brad Staubitz the best pickup by Gauthier. Habs have no fear now.
forget about Cole…?
Cole much better pickup, but the Stauber provides much needed grit.
I’m totally against fighting in the NHL, but Staubitz looks like a fantastic teammate. He just looks like a real nice guy. He was laughing with the loser’s by the penalty box and helping out Weber.
Habs undefeated with Markov in the lineup…….
Nice way to cap the season boy’s!
I’m gonna jump in the shower real quick (yes some of us French do shower) So I can watch the anti chambre crew. I hope they be on tonight.
Kiss my hAbSS!!!
Okay I won’t flush the toilet!
Wonder how much Price had on the board ?
I guess he might have been inspired by the Saints….
Look at that last save and whistle: three Canadiens between Price and the three Canucks on the outside. That’s different.
It’s the Staubitz effect.
“You cannot petition the lord with prayer!” – James Douglas Morrison
Indeed. Would you spare PG his job for that move ?
Hmm. It is a conundrum.
Maybe if he re-signs him. Then we’ll talk.
I don’t know how much Hughson/Simpson Canuck excuses and whining I can take…
Jack Edwards is a clam, Bruins are pukes.
Me thinks MOntreal has no homer announcers on CBC ?
refs playing for Van in the corner
Markov in line up = Habs win
Can it be that a fight changed the tide for the Canadiens ?
… yeah that was it.
Get real! Depth on the D and an awesome night for Price.
Price did a lot in the 1st but then had almost nothing the rest of the way. But having Staubitz there helped give the players some room to play.
Also crappy goaltending by Luongo helped out. For once, the opposing goalie played crap.
Have Markov on the D helped enormously. And gave puck movement to a static PP.
“3P 6:00 This might not be over”
LOL isn’t that sad but true.
HNIC morons have to abandon their usual script!
Too many positives from this game to name…can someone else do it?!
A good forecheck is better than the trap
ability is what you’re capable of doing.
attitude determines how you do it
Hey, it’s been ages since someone posted how many goals SK/AK got tonight.
And they didn’t mention the Higgins penalty which lead to our goal? WTF?
Spacek scored tonight tho.
Just kidding, I don’t give a s**t
You guys kill me. LMAO
So Markov has good movement in pivots and whatnot? He’s not looking reticent out there? Excellent.
He has some of the expected rust, but his passing has been excellent. Overall I would say a very good debut.
Next season here we come!
Ya the rust was apparent on a few plays. Hesitant and a bit slower than he usually is. I bet he’ll feel real comfortable by the end of the year and he will be able get himself in real good shape for next season. I bet Kabs gets himself in real good shape in the offseason too. Pleks will crack the whip on him
Sarcastic cheer for the easy save by Luongo …
Luongo, 10 years millions and soft. Hope we don’t give 10 years to Price even if he is better

Nice puck battle by Campoli.
Holy shit, I just posted something nice about Campoli!
Gotta agree, nice to see.
Yappierre again starts but runs away yapping!
What a puke!
Boone… I .lilke the Green men. They are funny and try to be original. (again… we don;t see them much)
Markov what this team has been missing for 483 days……..
I’m guessing it comes in a camouflage motif?
Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhh LOL
so depressing we can do this to Vancouver like we did to Detroit before the allstar break, 2 elite teams, and we are not a playoff team ffs
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
Just got home from work and perused the stgats, Markov 14+ minutes, PP ass, (looks like the PP getting back on track) watching the end of the game, how’s Markov looking?
a little rusty as expected but I think he”ll be fine. Got a point so far, so he’s on an 82 point pace/

The Russian Anti-Tank “the Terminator”
The problem with the tank is that it’s overly-complicated and prone to breakdown, like a German King Tiger.
Being a Hab fan is like buying real estate: only over the long-haul will you appreciate the true value of your investment.
Yakupov aint Mario Lemieux either…..
(sigh)…..Shall we kiss Mikhail adeiu?
Pacioretty on After Hours, cool
No need to tank, the high draft picks this year look a lot scarier to the team that gets them than a couple of the next bacth of about 5 or so of them look anyway. Yakupov got rocked, Grigorenko is a head case, Galy has knee issues. I still want the Habs to slide in there with a 4-8 pick and grab that Faksa kid from Kitchener, his work ethic and his size are as big as his talent ratings, which makes him stand out as a safer pick with a higher low side even if his top end may not be as high (although it may well be too)
Works for me.
Who wants a hat trick?
Can I safely go bed thinking the boys have won. Have to be up early for work tomorrow, and we lose an hours sleep… Yikes
Sweet dreams! It’s safe.
I wonder can the Habs have two thirty goal scoters in one season? When was the last time that happened on the Habs ?
… I have a feeling its ’93
I was just going to post that! Would be great.
You think Markov can get 30?
95-96, Turgeon and Damphousse 38 each?
I think …
Markov has been holding the mojo!!!!!!!!
F*** YEAAAH! COLE!
Face it, PG signing him erases a ton of any “errors” he has done.
Don’t let the wultures getcha.
Serves Kessler for diving; though he has a crummy view of Cole’s goal from 180 feet away.
Career year! PG sucks though right…?
Here comes garbage time from Vancouver, watch out boys it’s gonna be rough
“gonna be rough”
lol from the girls in Vancouver? I don’t think so.
more like chippy hits, Kassian, Bieksa and others. You gotta watch out for cheap shots.
What a check by Emelin.
And Cole gets #25
Haha, Kesler was still picking himself off the ice from the Emelin hit when that goal got scored … when did he turn into such a wuss?
Beautiful goal by Cole. Second of the night.
Yeeeeah! The Habs don’t need to win this game! But I have to admit, it’s a nice game (so far [they’ve blown leads like this])!
Selfish play Cole. You already have 1.
COLE! Can you possibly not love that guy?
Tank is engulfed in flames!
Burn, baby, burn.
Kevin F’n Pollack !
Worst of the worst!
Cole. Beast. Nice work Gauthier.
So far so good with regards to Markov anyway. He looks good considering it’s been over a year since he last played. Got a point in his first game back. I’m happy.
Tuck the fank, I am much happier watching my team play well and winning than watching them lose, I don;t mind being in the minority on this one, Go Habs Go
Minority? Read the comments, we’re all happy
They can want to finish last all they want, but if they aren’t cheering with every goal, they’re not real fans.
# 60 MAKING SOME NICE PLAYS LATELY
Has had a strong game. Needs more muscle.
That’s Montreal with Markov.
Markov looking more and more comfortable with every shift
Boone, Kesler’s problem is he is losing to what was supposed to be an easy touch!
Tank just threw out one of its caterpillar tracks.
im all for tanking, but common, this feels good
Outside of 1, I think there isn’t much difference between players 2-7
The Russian derailed the Tank.
The Tank didn’t suspect that they would activate The Markov!!!
Very true, that was hilarious Bills post. Haha
Boone, Kessler always has a problem. I’ve never seen that guy crack a smile.
lol tell me about it….would still love to have him on the Habs though.
I have this bizarre feeling that the Habs aren’t going to blow this lead. I mean, I actually feel like they’re going to win. This is weird. This team feels different.
3P 13:07 What’s Kesler’s problem?
corey perry got his all star game shoot out competition stick from kaberle
Pacioretty wasn’t hooked or interfered with? Tripped?
Stick right across the body, referee with a clear view. NHL, so inconsistent, don’t get it.
Just set some rules and apply them all the time.
We just had a 2 man advantage, rule book says we can’t get next penalty call
Ah yes… the unofficial NHL rulebook.
That was all Markov. .,that pass to Subban was priceless
Kesler is a big baby…
Would like to see the replay, but it looked like poor Patches got hauled down hard from behind on that.
See that stretch pass from Markov?
Just curious, anyone looked up the stat on how many games the Habs have had both Price and Markov in the lineup over the past 3 seasons? Or what their record is in those games?
Seems like an awfully small number of games for a team to have it’s two most talented players in the lineup over a 3 year span. (Markov alone has only played 8 games now in two of those years and the third one, he missed the first half of the season when Price was playing well, but the team was losing and Markov returned in the second half when the Habs opted to go with their backup for the second half so Price didn’t get many games with Markov in the lineup there either, so the total can’t be very high)
5-3-0 (including a win tonight) in the past two seasons, didn’t look up the 3rd season since Markov got about 40 games in there.
Where are the two Green Grow idiots?
What could have been…
Come on, Pacioretty was MUGGED there.
Markov must put a patent on how to pass to create a one timer shot……..
This is the pairing I have always wanted to see. Markov and Subban at the blue line on the power play
Honestly, they are doing this for Markov, Gorges and Price. Good to see. Play for the next season.
Sick. Things to come…….oh baby
