I’ve said a couple times now, but Subban has been terrific since January. Sure he struggled the first few months of the season, but he’s been playing great hockey lately.
He’s been terrific since November, his “struggles” were entirely media-concocted. The media guys always write the easy story, i.e., “sophomore slump”. Subban hasn’t had one.
I’ve been dreaming about that setup for two years. Markov to a Subban one-timer on the powerplay.

A Habs win tonight will leave them 2 points behind the Laffs. With Markov back in the lineup, by this time next week, we’ll have passed them in standings.

Fact is it won’t matter sweet dicky doodaw who we pick even if we do get first pick. The poor kid will be ripped limb from limb by this crowd of armchair GMs within a year as they demand he be traded, then mourned by the same crew when he scores a few on another team. Rinse, repeat…

That Geoffrion goal did my heart good. I saw Boom Boom score many times. I hope Blake can improve his skating because he definitely has an eye for the goal.
In a tumultuous season, tonight gives Habs fans two feel good stories; Markov’s return and Blake Geffrion’s 1st goal as a Hab to make it 4 generations of goal scoring.
Where the bloody hell has this effort been all year? Win or lose this effort is fantastic! I will welcome watching my team play like this every year. From top to bottom bravo. I’d like to see this continue into next season. I think this is the kind of team we’ve been hoping for all along.
Loving this game. Where is all this effort comming from. They are still lacking some top end skill but if the Habs put out this effort every night we would be play off bound…
History! Geoffrion scores. I am proud to say that I am old enough to remember the Boomer, although, it was just the last few years of his career in Montreal. The glory days to be sure.
Historic goal by baby Boom Boom !
and ya, the best was the assist from Louie and the goal scored on another Montreal native goaltender.
Nice moment !
Habs, OLE !
Maybe I see him all wrong. But I get the vibe that he tries so hard to get the puck off of his stick… doesn’t matter where it goes. To me he is really annoying to watch, like no other player.
CBC/HNIC are running shit scared when they came to talk contract extension for their cash cow and got blindsided by the Canadian NHL teams over a bunch of issues including TO centricity, editorial content (controlled by Maclean), distribution of national telelcasts and of course the “Moron Twins”, Cherry and Maclean!
One more season after this and the CBC/HNIC is history, they don’t have the cash to compete with the private sector in any way shape or form!
Last BOG meeting. Head of CBC sports and Head of CBC went to do a state of the Union Type report and they were greeted with a barrage of complaints from Canada.
Talk about being distanced from their clients, they had no clue!

I wouldn’t say he left his assignment. In the NHL the players are skilled enough to not be confined to one half of the ice. Players cross and switch their man all the time. Unfortunately, it could leave you vulnerable if the other team takes advantage of two players mid-switch. It’s not realy anyones fault.

Sooo excited to see suban and marky workin the point together from now on .:
I’ve said a couple times now, but Subban has been terrific since January. Sure he struggled the first few months of the season, but he’s been playing great hockey lately.
Absolutely man. He fought off those sophomore jitters and he showing us what hes got!

Beautiful to see it again, really going to help this squad next year.
And that, right there, is why you sign Markov.
Oh great now they will make a run for the playoffs……….
They will keep RC, they will keep PG, I’m drunk……..
Keeping RC and PG would be a good thing.
In all honesty, RC might be ok, but the writing is on the wall for him.
Now that looked like a Power Play!
Just think if we had AM79 all year.
I forgot how good of a passer he really is.
A Markov backed powerplay, is a dangerous powerplay
Geoffrions first point as a Hab.
Staubitz’s first point as a Hab.
Markov’s first point of the year.
Aww they took Staubitz’s point away. Fucking Gorges…
Markov DOMINATED that 5 on 3. What we’ve been missing …

Well, would you lookit that……

The Refs are letting them play. I am surprised that Kaberle didn’t get a penalty for having a too short hockey stick on that play.
A PP goal to add to this tonight… that would be nice
Why is everyone talking bout Geoffrion. Staubitz got his first point as a Hab. Anyone get that puck?
Nope, they gave the point to Gorges, according to Luc Gélinas. Staubitz didn’t get that point, it seems.
The Habs portion of the crowd going crazy
Luongo is a loser
???
There was a time when I suggested the Canadiens trade Price for Luongo and Cody Hodson.
Luongo is soft.
He’s a great goalie, but you want to talk about bad contracts …

With the return of Markov, no ‘A’ for Cole…
Wow. A late 2nd period goal to tie it followed by an early 3rd period go ahead goal. Yakupov just fired his French tutor.

I don’t think Yakupov remembers Russian right now!
Why such an obssession on this site with former Habs? Even ones that did SFA in Montreal?

The score is tied? Are Gomez and Campoli playing? If they are, apparently not enough!
A Habs win tonight will leave them 2 points behind the Laffs. With Markov back in the lineup, by this time next week, we’ll have passed them in standings.
If Habs win… they will be 4 points behind the Laffs
My bad.
Still think they’ll pass the Leafs.
That season finale between the 2 teams shaping up to be meaningful…for a draft pick.
Those green men are such trolls!
Everybody see the Yakupov hit? Wow he got clocked.
that was brutal.
Was that a Nail Fail?

Suck likes diamonds are forever!
Nobody cares how good or bad Markov plays this season as long as he stays healthy. A healthy Makov is better than any UFA we could sign.
Notice how much less irritating CBC is without Healy bitching from between the benches?
Barry Trotz is a fn genius…AK-SK look awesome in Nashville
girouxs shoot out goal was nasty
CH-eers!
that was a dirty dirty goal…. the monster is still looking for his jock strap
If San Jose misses playoffs will they finally blow up that team? Marleau anybody?
I like Marleau, but I think we need to go with youth…Marleau is a piece you add if you are close to the cup. We are far from that.

DannyG never scored a goal as a Hab but had six points………

It’s the once you are out of it monkey off your back looseness. Which is why I pegged them to finish between 18th and 23rd a while back.
yup they have nothing to lose anymore so now thery can play some hockey
Wow late one for the Habs!
