You are here: Home » News » Liveblog: Canadiens are 1-0 with Markov
Andrei Markov is back.
He picked up an assist on P.K. Subban’s power-play goal, and the Canadiens seemed inspired by his return, skating to a 4-1 win.
It’s nice watching and reading about how ex-Habs are such great hockey players when they leave Montreal yet how that is because they are and were nothing but bums. It obviously has nothing to do with Montreal’s corporate culture. Habs are all good and ex-Habs are traitors and should be spit on.
Hire the best regardless of language
I can’t find the sarcastic emoticon.
Really? Just get Markov off the ice. Why not wait til next season. He’s slow, and ineffective. Ah, no worries he’ll be hurt by the end of the week anyway.
Of all the teams to play against, bring him along against crappy teams, like…. oh nevermind.
W ain’t gonna make the playoffs so let him play Is it gonna hurt our playoff chances?
That’s on Markov and Price!
really!!! How is that on Price?
That’s on the D not knowing who had who. That was Markov’s guy if Emelin is aware he is supposed to switch. Emelin should be trying the pokecheck instead of a shoulder check in that situation too.
Seems like Markov should have stuck with his man on the left side — his decision led Emelin to skate cross ice to catch up to Kesler
Our D looked awful there
I dare anyone to call that one a softie.
It was a laser, but you know how it is, when in doubt, blame the goaltender.
Don’t let the wultures getcha.
Not any goaltender P-wash…Price.
Look up 3 comments 🙂
haha, at least Markov takes half the blame this time.
lol, CBC urging H. Sedin to “run” a hab. Classy, professional broadcasting at its best.
I didn’t construe it as an affront to the Habs, more of a suggestion that H Sedin needs to grow a pair
I thought it was disgusting. He specifically said he didn’t mean Henrik should drop the gloves, he said “it’s only the habs, Henrik should use his stick or take a run at a hab”
CBC is sadly pathetic. Not surprised GM’s of Canadian teams are starting to complain about the sad state CBC has become.
they didn’t say run a Hab… they said he needs to stand up for himself because he doesn’t
sorry, I have it dvr’d. he absolutely 100% said “run a hab”.
watch it again.
As a newb that loves this forum and a lifelong Habs fan this might be a little offside but does anyone else get annoyed with the posts about how great ex-habs are doing.
Screw them if they arent playing for the Habs they are dead to me.
I dont care what Halak’s save percentage is and i dont care how many goals ex-players are getting.
Its not about the individuals for me, its all about the CH…
+100, welcome to the site
“They don’t hang Conference Championship Banners from the rafters here”
Weber-Campoli, one of the weakest D pairings in the league?
am I the only one you finds the twins just a tad creepy…
Who cares what the shots are?
What’s the score?
Shots are 19-6 Vancouver
In Nashville tonight:
Andrei from Sergei x2
AK46 has 6 points in 5 games with the Preds.
yeah, yeah, you’re the upteenth person to post that…
Watch your team, not Natchville
Jack Edwards is a clam, Bruins are pukes.
In the immortal words of Joni Mitchell…
“Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.”
“You cannot petition the lord with prayer!” – James Douglas Morrison
Just arrived and saw the Staubiz fight. He fed Kassian some strong ones. Saw the green men golfing as well and Lappiere chirping!
Let’s take a goal now too!
Whats the word with Markov? Has he started the second?
Kassian vs Staubitz round 2 coming up…..
A dog can’t change it’s spots Yappierre despite reports he was sticking to hockey under Vigneau is still the same running to the bench and yapping at any confrontation!
Wish he was on our team
Rusty Staubitz just started a rally…
Watch, the Habs will score first.
Ok change of plan, keep Gomez and eat Kaberle’s salary. He is completely useless.
man I love a good scrap…especially when we win it….
Lapierre beaking from the bench. You gotta love it.Wish we still had him
That’s all he’s good at.
Resign Staubitz — I can’t remember the last time a Hab clearly won a fight. He’s giving us some semblance of dignity this season.
Re-sign or resign?
Ya know it means two things, right?
What do you think I meant? Let’s see, Staubitz clearly won the fight, so perhaps I meant he should voluntarily leave the team. Yeah.
Use the right word then, bitch!
Why even bother? Seriously?..
Kassian is a tough hombre, but Staubitz is a keeper.
better resign Staubitz
Vet took the kid to school there.
Did I just see a Hab win a fight?
Being a Hab fan is like buying real estate: only over the long-haul will you appreciate the true value of your investment.
Even Markov can’t make Kaberle look good. 🙂
Lol, yeah, but Markov just needs to get back into game shape. Slow, but surely. Hope he doesn’t injure himself over-exerting.
FIRE GAUTHIER, FIRE GAUTHIER, FIRE GAUTHIER
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. After giving away SK74 to the Preds for nothing, what does Gauthier do, gives away AK46 for nothing……2 goals by AK46, both on beautiful feeds by his brother.
Gauthier is completely unable to judge talent, unable to make trades for equal talent, and just a complete disaster of a GM. Throw in Gainey and here we are talking about tanking and next year. How awful a job Gauthier has done.
Yeah, because they were really lighting it up in Montreal.
Yeah Gauthier sucks.
But so does KostitsynX2, lovin’ the lack of pressure in (cue the banjo) Nashville.
They can’t play in real hockey markets. We saw that first hand.
WTF are you talking about. Nashville is in the toughest NHL division. And they are doing very well at the box office as well as in the standings.
They can’t play in Montreal because they don’t get played in Montreal.
They didn’t meet Montreal’s first hockey criterion of not having hockey talent and not being good for PR.
The Gauthier bashing from you is getting old and tired. There’s currently a game going on to watch.
So don’t read. If it doesn’t irk you that AK46 gets a chance to play and scores on another team and all Gauthier sought to get in return was a 2nd rounder, well then, it should. I choose to see clearly and call it…..
comon… let’s be honest. SK74 only learned how to play after he left Mtl… AK will cool off quickly, and then play only every 4th game or so
lol like you can really extract a lot of value out of a guy who completely ignores instruction from the organization.
Also, you do realize AK46 was a UFA this summer right…?
Take a step back.
I would be more inclined to blame JM and his clone RC for AK not being here anymore than blaming PG, the coaches ruined him and probably said he shouldn’t be in the teams future plans for some reason I can’t fathom
hahaha he just called him Carey Sharp….man I hope they don’t pay these guys alot of money
Boone… way to be positive
So, think AK is happy in Nashville?
Did he go visit Graceland?
Inquiring minds and all that. 😉
Yeah, him and Spinal Tap trying to harmonize “Heartbreak Hotel” acappella at Elvis’ grave… lol
haha, “I go to grave”
Is Orland Kurtenbach still their captain? Where’s Guevremont?
That’s why it’s good for Markov to play now, so he could get in to game shape, better then him getting in to game shape next year. So let him get in to shape now and next year he’ll be ready.
For the love of Habs-Professor, NAG!!!
PJ is talking…time to take a dump…
What a coincidence, Stock’s mouth also took a dump.
Seems like a good guy but how he has been on the air this long i will never know. His first year i thought he was just nervous and he would grow into the job. Boy was i ever wrong, he still cant express a coherent sentence…
Pretty happy to see the Kostitsyn brothers make Montreal look dumb as **** in Nashville. SK to AK twice tonight on the PP.
PJ Stock criticizing Markov is like Lada criticizing Ferrari. Or Katy Perry criticizing Lea Michele.
Basically, what I’m saying is, who does he thing he is?
WHY IS HE ON TV??
Full Breezer 4 Life
Because his career on Team 990 and CHOM was a bust?
CBC = ex bruin
Guy is a tool…a useless one at that
I HAVE NO FREAKIN’ IDEA.
thats ok, the east is fast asleep. no need to show any kind of positivity for habs. can i get some kind of a tax break if i choose to never watch cbc again?
What’s with this guy, Rusty Staubitz? Is he any good?
I wonder what Gainey is thinking as he sees Higgins on the ice?
The kid was a Habs fan, his Dad was a die hard Habs fan.
That Gomez trade just keeps on giving… Eh BOb?
I remember watchin’ a special on RDS way back when about Higgy and his family in upstate NY and how the old man was a crazy Hab fan who had rituals before every game. I remember getting a little “verklempt” watchin’ that.
Habs, OLE !
A quiet 5 min from Markov!!!!!
Marky looks a bit rusty, which is normal. Gonna be a good top 4 d corps when he settles in… Markov, Emelin, Gorges, Subban.
HE IS RUSTY
yea like i said, its normal…
no surprise to me Carey is having a good game in his home province
Markov looks/seems to be very careful in playing. Its good that RC is giving him only a few minutes to play.
It will take time for him to get his game back but other than that, i’m happy he’s there in the lineup.
He’s gotta get back into the groove, it’ll take a few games to shake off the rust. He’s made simple, yet effective plays.
Price fased as many shots as Halak does all game.
doesnt a high stick/slashing call mean you made contact with the stick?
Not to beat a dead horse, but AK has another pp goal and the game winner in Nashville. …. ..
Let’s beat JM instead.
I am all for that.
I didn’t see the winner but the first goal was sick.
Count me in !
The best part was that both goals came off of SK 74 passes.
But hey, who are we to talk when the paid professional experts in management know whats best for the our Habs ?
I don’t think it’s far-fetched to say that the Habs really mishandled him. He may have been inconsistent, but I don’t think he ever had an attitude problem like other players released – the Habs just decided to go the 1 dimensional grind route with no skill and no freedom to make plays. Rather frustrating. The 2nd round pick they obtained for him better pan out.
Also hope the Habs look at Gill and Kostitsyn and look at how they were used in Nashville (Gill was on the ice for 20min!) to see how they can extract the best out of a player’s capabilities instead of chaining them to a system that works only for certain types of players.
oh the Canuck coach is billingual..I get it green goofs..yuk yuk…
We groomed him for them, just in case they want to show their gratitude.
Habs are the butt of hockey jokes now. Heck you could do a complete stand up routine on the state of the Habs.
no offense, but if I’m not mistaken you are one of the people who felt we should have a bilingual coach. You also said something to the effect that if you’re not from Montreal you’re not as big of a fan as people from Montreal. That’s the kind of nonsense that has indeed, as you so eloquently put it, made us the butt of hockey jokes.
No offense taken.
I will admit that I have changed my mind, or as others have put it, flip flopped, on the coach thing. I was for an English coach but now see the need for a bilingual one. I changed my mind after numerous discussions in both French and English, with numerous friends of mine here in Montreal.
When in Rome…
Wait, Kesler grabbed PK’s stick swung it at himself
Chance the refs will look at the video between periods and apologize for the goof?
That just looked like Kesler held onto PK’s stick. The stick actually came out of PK’s hands.
Swing to the head, Simpson is an idiot
Roughing? Man, PK gets some bum calls.
The green guys are on their game
Haha, “Keys to Victory: Vancouver has bilingual coach”
I don`t know…their other sign said our captain makes 3.75 million per goal…. Someone didn`t do their homework
Newfoundland’s biggest Habs fan. Hands down.
LOL @ Green Men signs.
Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s green man is the only green man I recognize!
i dispute it too..I wanna see the goof that is counting the shots..
the Stauber…I like it
ELLER! So close!
Montreal is not helping Luongo’s Save Percentage.
Vancouver 13 shots? When?? I dispute this.
Only against the Habs, and on CBC, could a missed hit be a good play by the opposition.
“Wow, look at the HUGE hit Hamhuis ALMOST made! What a player!”
– Jim Hughson
And no credit to the smaller Leblanc for the huge actual hit or Plekanec for avoiding the much lauded almost hit
“Et le but!”
I would have no issue with Staubitz or White introducing themselves to Burrow.
Ceeb guys saying Staub was kerfuffling with him
I believe Staubitz already did a bit!
I don’t care what the shot total is. watching this game i see fast, competitive hockey and neither team with a clear advantage.
Good in the USA.
Debate here whether Hughson is pronouncing Lois Leblanc correctly. We got Maritimer roots here so we say leh-BLONG or else luh-BLAH(N). What say you?
Not gonna win many games being outshot like that.
pac and cole miss DD
Luongo could’ve taken this period off.
Great to see Markov back!!! Nice hit by LL as well
if we win every game..we will have 91 points…yea I have been smokin the spice rack…
Get Boone to bring you back some fresh stuff!
Smokin’ Banana Peels!
when i was young and more foolish my friend and I actually dried out banana peels and smoked em…it was disgusting…just about coughed up a lung…
Is anyone else unable to get the liveblog on the HIO App? I can’t seem to get it on the mobile website either…
The comments below just don’t seem to match a game in which they’re currently being outshot 11-1. Weird
They’re getting chances, just aren’t getting them on the net, still just sounds weird.
I’m a big Leblanc fan. The next Guy Carbonneau.
I’m so glad to see Markov back.
Campoli and Kaberle … that is not cool, RC, why do you do this??
He’s a sadist.
Could be the worst defensive pairing we’ve had in a long time.
RC doesn’t want them to contaminate the other D
Great hustle by leblanc in his own end and then finishes the shift with a huge hit in the O zone
I love it. Marky taps Emelin in the back to let him know where he is.
What a breakout play by Andrei Markov and Alexei Emelin. Effective defencemen at work.
Andrei showed hard braking and an abrupt change of direction, so the knee is up to that challenge.
How about it NHL? No fighting, just hockey?
