It is Sunday, the Lord’s day, so I am permitted to make an OH LAWD observation.
The picture of Carey Price walking into the arena and posted here by Boone.
So I am a black man (not that there’s anything especialy wrong with that((lol)) and many of you are white folks (not that there’s anything especially right with that ((lol))…
But here’s the elephant in the room? How many of you recall the comments on P.K.s attire earlier in the season and how was ‘your’ ..yes your personal reaction… when P.K. struts his DUDS.
PK is a good soon to be great talent and his on and off ice comportment is just fine thank you. Don’t be too thin-skinned. The dummies like Stock Milbury and Churly can go pith up a rope.
I hate to see the word ‘idiot’ thrown around in discussion threads where people simply happen to have different opinions on a particular subject.
But if we’re arguing today (not 3 or 5 years ago) about whether Gomez is a 1st line Center or a third string, I’d venture to say, by most people’s standards, stating that ‘Gomez is a Nb 1 Centerman in this league’ would be the view with no basis in facts (on pace for 14 pts total this year, 38 pts last year in 80 games). And if you want to go there, that would probably be the more ‘idiotic’ statement of the two…
What a fantastic game! And what great support once again from the Hab Fans! You guys are amazing!!!
PK is definitely a second half player. It’s night and day with the guy we saw earlier in the season. He is so dominant it really bodes well for the next 18 years… Let’s draft Malcom! Make it happen PG.
The Habs absolutely have to address the lack of depth in goal. In the last couple of years they have gone from having one of the richest pools of current and developing talent to having virtually nothing after Carey Price. It is one thing to put faith in him as the future but another thing entirely to go unprepared.
Goalies are always risky amateur picks due to the time it typically takes to develop in the position. I can’t see burning a 1st or early second rounder at this point but they really should be looking at using some picks to start lining up assets. Maybe you end up trading them later but don’t be so exposed.
I expect Hamilton to be vastly improved next year. On Forward and D, there are a good pool of guys who should generate 3 or 4 NHL ready players in about 2 years. Those are going to be refreshed by the relatively high quality and volume of picks due the habs in the next two years. At some point you do have to get some goalie of the future insurance
…must have been a very enjoyable trip on the road for Boone …He was able to enjoy some fairly good hockey, including 2 out of 3 victories for the Good Guys (so far) …spent time in Our beautiful city of Vancouver with His Daughter (of which, I think was the most significant high-light of His road-warrior adventure) …watched the historic Geoffrion goal …the encouraging long-awaited return of Markov …Carey’s proud and successful return ‘home’ …and, last but not least, ‘enjoyed’ a soothing, relaxing call-in ‘massage’ in Calgary (of which, He generously avoided any jail-time)

Awesome Game tonight! Was sitting right behind the Habs bench the whole time (lucked out on a seat upgrade from a buddy I know). My gf the canuck fan was not so impressed with the game, but she still ended up getting me Plekanec’s stick and Randy’s autograph… I think I’ll keep her
I hope they keep Randy on as you can really see he has changed the whole mentality of the team and players. Great down to earth guy when you talk to him too.
Also great to watch all the cocky Canuck fans eat crow after they were trash talking me through the whole pre-game and 1st period. Way to go Habs!

Uhhhh, so not impressed, Canuck fans…yuk, yuk, yuk. Try facing Bruin fans, in their building. I lived in Massachusetts for 5 years buddy. Went to the old garden every time when the habs visited. Last time? 94 playoffs.
1st game? I was wearing a Hab hat and jersey, I got into line for the head during the 1st intermission and a drunk Mass-hole jeered me into telling him…”look up at your rafters and look up at ours, we have all the banners”, He went away but the guy behind me said, ” I was cool with you until you said that”…It was not a comfortable setting to urinate.
2nd game I wore a hab hat. As I was strolling the mezzanine at the garden I happened upon a group of people talking to someone…that someone happened to be Chris Nylan. I stopped and told him I was a big Hab fan and shook his hand. (Huge hand) He was blaze at best, the bruin fans around him could have killed me with their stare alone.
3rd game, (if ya know your hystory means game 7 of that series) I got seats 2 rows behind the hab bench. ( you can see me in a video of the CBC game smirking after a fight. But I was wearing a Houston Oilers’ hat because I did not want to get spit on while getting to my seat.
Canuck fans are nothing compared to bruin fans I think is my point.
3rd game? Game 7? Do or die?

Plekanec is a different player when centering an actual NHL winger(s)…If we can sign PK and Price to a decent contract, we should seriously go hard after Parise this off season..
If the Habs did what it would take to land Parise, there wouldn’t be salary cap room for him and Gomez … gee, tough call.
Anyway, Parise can write his own ticket. He’s getting max dough anywhere, and will go where he wants. Somehow I doubt it will be Montreal, even with his French Canadian roots (he grew up American).
Devils would have to be all kinds of stupid to let him walk anyway. He probably likes living in New York too … I would.
It’s games like these that support my theory that we only really need 3 players to make this team competitive next year:
A 4th line guy (Although we may have him now in Staubitz)
A scorer that can play with Pleks and Gio (Gallagher? Leblanc?)

If Markov comes back like Selanne did and has two productive injury free seasons, the Habs are going to be a good team with Markov, Subban, Gorges and Emelin on the back end.
The problem is what to do with Kaberle, Weber and Diaz.
How good would McDonagh and O’Byrne look added to that 4?
O’Byrne is nothing. McDonagh would look great, but Gainey keeps refusing to go back in time and fix his stupid $#$#@!! mistake, so …
Kaberle is fine. Get a shut-down guy to play with him and it’s all good. He’s tradeable, but in my opinion we’re an NHL d-man short even with him in the line-up … without him we need two.
When healthy and 100% he’s a very good to great defenceman. The problem lies in whether or not he can get (and more importantly STAY) healthy and near 100%.
I don’t believe anyone dislikes Markov nor what he has the potential to bring to the team, the issue most that question him have is how much of him they can hope for over the course of a full season. It’s a legitimate question when a player misses 180 games over a 3 yr span.
I never did. He’s not just amazing offensively, but defensively he is just fantastic. He reads plays as well as Lidstrom does. I saw 4 guys coming down on just him, and he stopped skating backwards and went full speed up ice. I was like “Whoa, what are you doing”, then he picked off the pass and turned it into a rush for us.
Anyone notice how when Subban scored, the Canucks tried to clear it three times and he got in the way every time. It looks like they shot it at him, but it’s not a coincidence. He knows where the puck is going before the puck does
I think Blake Geoffrion played a very good game.. and Gomez and Palushaj looked really good together. In fact Gomez has not looked in sync with any linemate for over a year as he did with Palushaj tonight.
Would be nice to see RC keep them together, regardless of injured returning, so we can see a) a better idea of Palushaj and b) if Gomez has found a motivation(bringing Palushaj along).
I thought the Toronto team were brown noseing homers. Then along come this Vancouver brown nosers. Hey guys sorry the nNcks did not let them win, you were beaten soundly.
1) Carey Price – “best player on the team most valuable player”
2) Desharnais & Cole – “they’ve looked for me a lot and helped me a lot … everyone has good chemistry with David … I want to be a player like Erik”
3) Mike Cammalleri – “helped me learn about being a better player”
The second one is predictable, the others are interesting!
If DD come back I would bench Pleks. This team played with heart but mostly with toughness we have not seen for along long time. Louie and Blake played well tonight. PK has the world lifted of his shoulders with Markov back wow he was amaizng. With Pk’s shot and Markov back you will now see the number one powerplay in the league back.
Well, Pleks was out there for three of the Habs four goals, and he played a good three-zone game, actually. I don’t know if some of you guys just look at the point totals or what, but anyone should be able to see that Pleks had a good night tonight.
Team is 2-0 without DD and really haven’t missed him.
I thought Pleks and had an especially bad first period and Cole and Pacs essentially played like a twoman line for most of the 2nd and 3rd period. Pleks was not much of a factor in their play.
Been dreamin about this for years, “Back to the point to Markov, pass to Subban one timer scoooooooores!” We finally got it.
Great game by Price.
Markov stay healthy, and watch out playoffs!
Where are the people that said that they “know” that Markov will get injured in his first game?
Can cole get 30? Can Subban get 10? I hope so.
Wow and we thought Price let’s Ín some soft goals. I guess it could be worse we could be stuck with Luongo. He’s just crap and over rated. And makka83 everyone can have a decent game now and then buddy.
Ya in the past two years what has Luongo done? Besides winning an Olympic Gold Medal when he replaced Brodeur who couldn’t get the job done, and then carried his team on his back to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals even though his team only scored 8 goals in the entire 7 game series! What a loser he is eh? *blinks*
I am gonna be called a troll for this post but I am beginning to get really WORRIED. This team could go on a 9 and 4 run and presto there goes our draft position.
I love that I am not ‘suffering’ through a loss but…… we could end up drafting after the the leafs who are gonna miss the playoffs too.
Naw, the picks in the 4-8 range are a heck of a lot less scary than the top 3 this year anyway. I’ve been hoping for that specific area for a month or so now. As good as Yakupov or Grigoernko could be, I am a heck of a lot more comfortable if they are “stuck” with this Faksa kid instead for example. The potential for a catastrophic failure there seems to be a LOT lower.
Great win for the team morale.
Really glad I could find a USB-stick to follow the game on HIO blog and 98.5 web radio, from a remote area of Northern Philippines…
Can’t wait to see the highlights later on RDS web site.
You know the rules… if you’re going to brag about the win, first round is on you!

Being a Hab fan is like buying real estate: only over the long-haul will you appreciate the true value of your investment.
I looked it up, Price and Markov have been in the lineup for the same game only 22 times in the past 3 seasons. So 210 games or so without one or the other of them and 22 games with the club’s two most talented players in a 3 year stretch.
Hopefully the Habs have both of them for more than 10% of their games next year and stop this trend.

5-3-0 in the past two years, didn’t look too closely at the third year, looked like it was a game or two over .500 in 2009 and there were a pair of OTLs so call it 12-8-2 plus or minus a win. Either way, Price has only had the luxury of playing with his team’s best defenceman in the lineup 22 times in 3 years, that says a heck of a lot for how well he’s done in spite of that.
I would have to wager that his success will only be improved when he actually gets a chance to play behind a d that includes it’s top defender on a regular basis.
Thanks for looking that up. It’s safe to say that Markov in the lineup instantly makes this a playoff-calibre team. Too bad we didn’t have him 40 games ago!

Take one of those Price games (and one of those losses) away. He came in late in a game to replace Halak so, while he got on the ice, he didn’t start the game and it was already basically over before he got in. Call it 21 games in 3 years, still not a lot obviously.
2 minutes. Two of those seasons Markov only played 8 games in as a combined total so they were really easy. The third season I just cut and paste a list of the games Markov played and then scrolled through which of those Price was in net for, he played most of his games earlier in the year when Markov missed the first half of the season though, so it wasn’t a very long list to sort through.
I still say kevlar hockey socks…. need to get them, would prevent this and many other similar injuries such as the ones to Cammy this year and Bieksa a few yrs ago. (some players wear them under their socks already anyway, make them a regular thing for the uniform socks and that doesn’t happen)
I can see why the Canucks are a hated team.. players like Burrows and Yappier. The Sedins, as Craig Simpson pointed out, have no stones. Even a guy like Kesler crumples like a deck of cards looking for sympathy/a call. Their “tough” guy, Kassian, got taken to school by Staubitz.
No Van town beatdown at end of game with Staubitz out there. After the beating he gave Kassian (Kardasian?). Also Habs played “Hudson Bay Rules” all night. Nice for the smaller players to know there’s there’s someone to watch your back. Also Great game by Markov. Lets hope the knee holds up.
BTW where are all the price haters tonite. Outshot 15-5 in 1st period and he kept us in there.

That’s a nice top 4 D. Heck, even Kaberle and Campoli didn’t look that bad against the Nucks tonight.
Great win, good to have Markov back. I have a good feeling about the team moving forward.
Markov finally ready and beginning to show why he should garner more respect on this site. That long bomb to Pac would have been a great assist.
I said it before, Hab fans forgot what Markov use to be.
When healthy and 100% he’s a very good to great defenceman. The problem lies in whether or not he can get (and more importantly STAY) healthy and near 100%.

For sure. A glimpse of what he brought and could bring again – hopefully over a healthy span of time.

Besides winning an Olympic Gold Medal when he replaced Brodeur who couldn’t get the job done, and then carried his team on his back to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals even though his team only scored 8 goals in the entire 7 game series! What a loser he is eh? *blinks*
He did look bad tonight and his recent play is not encouragig to Canucks fans.
“We”? How many of you are there?

everyone can have a bad game now and then too. Depends if you’re paying attention!
F^&% the draft we don’t need a top 5, Come on boys just win baby just win.
Man P.J Stock is a douchebag i think ill go harass him on Twitter.
Let Dorvaltony do that…..lol
I’m weary of him.

Kelly Hrudey looks like he got botox or a face lift or both and gained weight. He’s going down Michael Landsberg highway.
Made me laugh, cuz it’s true. I was just thinking the same thing.
I wonder how many more goals Subban wouyld have this season with Markov feeding him on the PP all season
In all likeliness, the season is a write-off, but I love seeing them go down swinging, GO HABS GO!

Good game for a change. Three full periods, no collapse and lots of muscle. Welcome home Markov.

Don’t know how many here are Ontario residents but I freakin’ nailed 10/10 on Pro-Line POOLS.
Thank you Carey, thank you, Baby Boom, thank you PK, thank you Big E72

Assuming Markov is able to play the remainder of the season un-injured this summer will be a lot less painful around here.
Great game, welcome back Andrei we missed you! Good night folks.
Habs 1 – 0 with Markov in lineup things looking up!!!!!
CBC guys sound pretty sad Vancouver lost. Suck it.
Did the Sedins play tonight?
Does everyone now see why it’s important to see Markov play before the end of this season?
Indubitably!

Basking in the Glow……
I looked it up, Price and Markov have been in the lineup for the same game only 22 times in the past 3 seasons. So 210 games or so without one or the other of them and 22 games with the club’s two most talented players in a 3 year stretch.
Hopefully the Habs have both of them for more than 10% of their games next year and stop this trend.
What was their record in those 22?

I hate to ask but how long did you spend researching this fact?

Price took out Markov with his skate on the first game in TO that season… Why would he do that?

I still say kevlar hockey socks…. need to get them, would prevent this and many other similar injuries such as the ones to Cammy this year and Bieksa a few yrs ago. (some players wear them under their socks already anyway, make them a regular thing for the uniform socks and that doesn’t happen)
Kevlar, yeah, it ‘s not the game I used to play anymore, but it makes sense. It’s a war out on that ice!

So. 13-0 for 90 points?
Lol, lets do it
90 isn’t enough for the playoffs. Can’t we just tank for the lottery?

It’ll will probably be a mix. Even if we do well down the stretch, we’ll still get a top 5 pick
Indeed. Vancouver is playing scared. Scared in the sense they don’t know when Luongo is going to let in a soft one.
Oh well it’s their problem not the Canadiens.

Got to be!
Subban with Price a little three down low! That’s nice to see. They have some mojo back!
