Look ,I’ve followed the Habs for 50 years and the Ref thing has always been there against them and yes it is caused by influence and hockey politics. And the only way it went away was when Les Canadiens would take the league over with excellence and a multitude of Cup victories “especially in a row” because they would be so good you couldn’t change the outcome! And knowing this ,”management” that is how you rebuild the team..excellence in all facets of the game. They have had 20 effing years to iron this Team out and put on a superior product and have Failed…so this is why we the Fans will keep going through with the Biased and some could say corrupt Officiating ! If Les Canadiens are 2nd to any other club …their Doomed!
Just saw JM’s post-game presser on RDS’s website. It was short (1:17) and he DID say the 5 on 3 in the first period should have been a 5 on 4. He said the team deserved some of the calls but not others, like the 2 that led to the 5 on 3. He also mentioned the Habs were not the aggressors, indirectly pointing to the lack of an instigator penalty on Callahan.
I think this was a measured response. Some will claim he should have defended his team more emotionally, but didn’t we learn during Carbo’s tenure that that doesn’t necessarily get you anywhere?
If PG or Geoff Molson can do something behind the scenes, they should — and I’m sure they will. JM did his part tonight.
Fair enough, but wouldn’t it be more effective if he’s telling it to the refs during the game instead?
It’s never really about the losin’ but the way you lose.
I can live with the Habs bein’ 9-2 underdogs on the PK. What I can’t abide is when that is the result of some almost comically bad reffin’.
Double-jeopardy on Blunden? Really? Absent the instigator to Callahan – I just presumed it, so imagine my surprise – it’s 5-3 and the Sathers are off to the races. Ok. Grade-A braincramp by the refs. Let’s move on.
Unsportsmanlike conduct for a snow shower? Really? Critical point in a game whose patina was directly influenced by the refs and the most banal of things is suddenly a call? Shanahan gonna have a look at that one? Henry mighta caught the effin’ sniffles.

Despite this absurdity, the Habs were even on shots. When you add missed – Diaz needs to show up a wee bit earlier to practice – and blocked shots, the Habs outfired the Sathers 60-45, includin’ 4 posts.
They outhit them 25-18.
There is a right way and wrong way to lose. I can take some solace in that.

Deserved a better fate tonight with those two zebra’s out there helping the rags out large! Still wondering how the boys ended up down 5 on 3 in the first when dubinsky started the whole scrum…….2 consecutive posts and henry coming up with some big saves on cole was the difference as well. NEW YORK – The two referees who officiated tonight’s Montreal-New York game were taken out and shot, NHL director of officiating Terry Gregson announced at a hastily called press conference.
“I know it may come across as extreme but we’ve got to get the message across to referees,” Gregson said. “Read the *&$(#@^ rule book!”
Gregson warned surviving NHL referees that the league is prepared to take even harsher action if they continue to call shoddy games but he wouldn’t elaborate.
A spokesman for the NHL officials association expressed disappointment in the NHL’s decision to employ summary execution as a disciplinary tool.
“We’re going to file a grievance,” the spokesman said. “This appears to be in violation of our collective agreement.”

Can someone explain to me WTF is going on with Cammaleri? Am I delusional or was he actually one of the faster guys on the team… This season he looks so slow that I think Gill would out-skate him… I am really not liking his play so far and he is supposedly my favorite on the team…
Cammalleri is exactly what he appears to be. A marginal skater, decent but not great puck handler, and smallish player with exceptional release and accuracy on his shot. He’s a streaky scorer. He’s in a cold spell right now. Put him with Crosby and he probably leads the league in goals. Put him on a team that requires him to play dirty, backcheck… you know, be a complete player…. and this is what you get.
I can’t get mad at him. I think he does work hard (except for tonight). I think he’s just kind of a limited player.
Cammy went on record to say “This will be my best season ever”

This game was a travesty. There’s no accountability in the NHL for poor officiating. The Rangers beat up the Habs and the refs call snow showers. Unreal.
I am tired of this passive turn the other cheek wimpiness. Somebody needs to step to the mike and rip the refs a new one.
JM needs to say that he is proud of the way his team battled back shorthanded 5 against 7 for most of the game.
To what point and purpose? The League would fine the Habs organization a bunch of money. The refs would still have no public accountability. Cursing out the horrible officiating is the unpaid labour of fans. The clubs themselves know that screaming about it into a microphone won’t get them anywhere.

100% agreed HH. I feel JM needs to come out and put PEEL in the spotlight, take the fine, say it loud, complement your team on not giving up, but put your name on a sound bite that gets PEEL in the news. And if it happens again, do it again. There has to be accountability. Who do these morons have to answer too? I’ll tell you who, their own guys, it’s just wrong. Just as wrong as the Bruins winning last year.
Travesty is the perfect word. Win four great games in a row, and come into tonight with no knowledge that your team has “no” chance to win, none, it’s been decided. Nobody can convince me of otherwise. I’ve played the game, and how you can give PK a penalty for a snow shower should be reason enough to be suspended from calling games. How many times has Price taken a shower? I F*ing hope JM remembers this the next time it happens.
…And in other news: The Canadiens plan to extend and modify the length of their penalty box at the Bell Centre in order to accomodate the seating for Canadiens players while in the box.

He calls every game like that for the past 15 years. Junior, AHL and the NHL. Again, the coaches did not prepare this team to play tonight. If you are a pro coach, you prepare your team to play a certain way. But we do not have a coach that gets it.

Ian, there’s no way you can prepare for your team to get jumped by the opposition players and you end up eating the instigator penalties.
We complain the Habs can’t win playing passively but for tonight, they show any kind of edge and they end up in the box. And if they had been passive they’d never had gotten close to tying the game up.

Good officials would have gone to the room after the 1st and talked things over (and maybe even watched the replays of the calls) and then had an unspoken agreement to make things right. That’s what happens.

the bellyaching, whining and ” we suck” crap is getting ridiculous. The Habs got totally screwed tonight, but still never quit. They had 9 PP against but still only got outshot by 1…once again never quitting.
The have got 9 out of the last 12 possible points. Get a little perspective.

Would you like to have an adult discussion on why JM is a terrible coach? or should i get a life?? So, the only think this blowhard pushes is defence. Thats great when you have a team that can play good defence and still score. The problem is JM still has not adapted to the team he has. He has destroyed the offensive upside of almost all our players. Cammalleri never seems to want to shoot , and the last couple games hes just not there. Plecks on the point, WTF. Cole and AK not playing on the PP till what recently? Oh wait, i guess he does a good job on the bench drawing up plays, oh wait, thats what the 2 assistances do. What does JM do that makes you think hes a good coach? He has no clue at all on how to use the players he has, or even how to deal with his players. Muller smoothed over the team last year and between his PP and Price standing on his head, they made the playoffs. See the problem this year is our PP stinks, partially because Plecs is STILL on the point and PK is on the second wave, and Price can only win us so many games. How bout you give us a couple examples on what JM does so well? Hire Assistants? oh wait, nope. Tries to protect 1 goal leads for 2 periods? nope..Bench managment so people actually develop chemistry? nope, hell he cant even manage his bench to do proper line changes.

I mean, just look at some of the other games tonight. The Leafs (1st in the east) lose 7-0 to Boston (15th in the East). And Seguin gets a hat trick. Columbus loses 9-2 to Philadelphia. The Islanders (14th) beat the Capitals (3rd) 5-3.
We fought until the end. Captain Gio led by example. If the refs are different I’m sure the outcome is different as well.

We deserved every penalty we got, and the worse thing would have been to win this game, playing it with no game plan from the get go,and no discipline. Effort yes, smart hockey no!
Yes, he deserved the two many men. He didn’t deserve the interference. Pax didn’t deserve the boarding on softy Richards. Subban didn’t deserve the unsportsmanlike. Calling 9 on MTL and 2 on NYR says that NYR essentially played a perfect game, and we know that’s not true. There are many examples, but the most obvious one is: where was the instigator on Callahan after the Blunden hit?
He interfered, because he was on the ice and should not have been.
