Liveblog: Bruins rally in third for 2-1 win

160848341_slide

Chalk it up as a learning experience.
Your Montreal Canadiens dominated the first 12 minutes of the game, skating off to a 7-0 shot advantage.
But they couldn’t beat Tuuka Rask.
And Boston proved, through subsequent play, that you can’t let a good team up off the deck.

Third-period goals by Tyler Seguin and David Krejci erased the lead P.K. Subban’s secodn-period power-play goal had created.

You couldn’t fault Carey Price on either goal.

The Bruins’ penalty-kill was the best the Canadiens’ heretofore high-flying PP has seen this season.

The Canadiens’ promising rookies were largely invisible through the latter part of the game … as were many of the veterans.

So Jones Barkov Mackinnon or Drouin? :)

  2. Dunboyne Mike says:

Lots of players had very indifferent games (which is quite polite).

Pleks (does so much, but did he ever look like creating or developing offense?).

The DD line — something must be up.

Emelin — one big hit on Lucic (who forechecked well but was otherwise anonymous) could have woken up the rest of the team.

    The PP.

Liked: Bourque; Gionta unafraid to mix it with Chara; Price.

But know what? There was a lot more to like on the other team tonight.

  3. HankHardball says:

Don’t worry. The Bruisers won’t last. No Thomas and injuries will eventually ruin their year.

Beantown disappointment will be so severe, it might even cost Julien his job.

  4. AH says:

Well…..that looked eerily similar to the team we saw last year; two days off and come out with a crap effort like that, no net prescence and no finishing……sigh

  5. AnimalMother says:

Last year we only have our 1st finishing anything. This year we have a the same 1st line that can’t do sweet F-all. DD has to go! Please MB please god please!!!!

  6. showey47 says:

Sorry to say it but a well deserved loss. Blew half a dozen excellent scoring chances including empty nets and breakaways then slept walked through the 2nd half of the game.

  7. bleublancrouge says:

First star of the game: pleks… For the bruins… By far the most pathetic performance I have ever seen from him but hey I’ve only watched every single game since 2004

  8. Marc10 says:

It had to happen. Too many passengers and guys pissing their jocks at having to play Lucic and Chara.

At least Bourque continued to show he’s the real deal and I expect Cole and Max to come out of hibernation one day (I’ll give Max a pass as he’s got a very legitimate doctor’s note…)

  9. Habbu says:

Chalk this one up to being a part of the learning process…….there I feel better already

  10. wickedwelder says:

we made it easy for them

  11. Habilis says:

    Tough loss. Stupid Bruins.

  12. duffy says:

    BACK TO REALITY !!!!!

  13. twilighthours says:

Best player tonight: Bourque, by a long way

    Worst: Markov

Pleky has also had far better nights.

Where is MaxPac? Tough to be hard on him since he just had an appendectomy, but he needs to be better.

Gallagher was a trainwreck in his own zone.

    Price was great.

I thought Amrstrong and Moen were good. Everyone else was pretty meh.

Where was the response to the Bruins trap and forecheck? We couldn’t get anything going.

  14. Captain aHab says:

Well last year they were playing hard for 20 minutes a game. In this game they played pretty well for 57 and fell asleep for 3 and that’s all she wrote.

I think it’s time to try Eller with the other kids. He deserves it.

    —————-
Me skull and crossbones arn’t the only thing I plan on raisin’ tonight.

  15. chanchilla says:

anyone else think cole looked really bad that game, i don’t think he finished a check once for the entire 60 minutes.

  16. HabinBurlington says:

Well that game had some good, some bad and some ugly.

But, we shall learn. Onwards and Upwards.

  17. Peter Young says:

Canadiens outplayed the Bruins for much of the match. They badly need to improve their finishing ability, which has cost them dearly. They’ve been a bit unlucky and the Bruins goalie has made some great saves. But even so, they would have scored a few more had they had more presence and thrust in front of the Bruins net.

  18. Saintpatrick33 says:

I think it’s time to break up that DD. Cole, Patches line it’s just not clicking anymore

  19. HardHabits says:

Habs didn’t just get out-played in the 3rd period… they got out coached.

  20. Danno says:

Missing all those juicy chances in the 1st period came back to haunt us.

    Buck Fruins…

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

    • Bill says:

They missed juicy chances in every period, right up until the end. I have no problem with this loss, it was a close game, legit could’ve gone either way.

      Full Breezer 4 Life

  21. AnimalMother says:

No chance this team wins one playoff game. NO CHANCE! That was an embarrassing finish.

  22. CharlieHodgeFan says:

    Good try.

    Next.

  23. commandant says:

    Not much to say here.

Reality is that 5 bad minutes of hockey and a hot goalie beat us.

    Gotta play the full 60.

    Go Habs Go!

  24. Adidess says:

Where is the captain? At least Plekanec has been in some screen shots!

  25. Mavid says:

    stupid bruins

  26. tricolore says:

There’s your Markov. What a lousy pass.

Lafleur, coming out rather gingerly on the right side.

  27. Mavid says:

    yea..nulified..

  28. habsfaninboston says:

    A glimmer of hope.

  29. RockinRey says:

    Even up!!

  30. Marc10 says:

  31. Propwash says:

  32. Marc10 says:

They’re trying but you have to give your head a shake at all the missed passes and the invisible Wolverine. WTF?

  33. HabinBurlington says:

Well we had our first Eller with the kids. A sign of the future?

  34. Saintpatrick33 says:

Great effort from the cube on the forecheck

  35. CharlieHodgeFan says:

The Habs aren’t used to being good. The Bruins are.

  36. wickedwelder says:

we just have to many visors on our team if you no what i mean!!!!

  37. tricolore says:

Great teams always capitalize. Habs are not doing so. They could have been leading this game by a few. That’s been the difference. Good news is that they are ‘right in it’. Just no killer instinct.

Lafleur, coming out rather gingerly on the right side.

    • pozza says:

They aren’t a great team. They are 9 games removed from being the worst team in the East. Given that they competed with one of the favorites for the Stanley Cup, I can’t understand why everyone’s so down on them.

  38. Saintpatrick33 says:

So many blown chances in the 3rd alone :(

  39. Marc10 says:

Let’s steal it. C’mon guys. Give the crowd a chance to give you a lift

  40. HabinBurlington says:

Bourque has been best winger tonight.

  41. Propwash says:

Unreal. Can’t even buy a goal.

Ok muting the tv and turning on tsn 690. If I hear Mcguire pumping the Bruin’s tires for much longer…

  43. Adidess says:

When you look at the 2 goals the Bruins scored, we have missed what, 10 of those tap-ins tonight?

  44. CharlieHodgeFan says:

    Taberslack.

    They aren’t rolling over.

  45. HardHabits says:

DD’s Fenwick and Corsi are off the charts this game.

  46. frontenac1 says:

This is a Habs/Bruins Game? No hits, No Fights…zzzzzzzz!

  47. commandant says:

    So close for DD

DD had one on his stick

  49. Harditya says:

    For god sakes DD…

  50. RockinRey says:

Diff game if they had a bagged a couple of the those early scrambles.

  51. 69HABS says:

Time for Cole & Pac to wake the F up!

  52. showey47 says:

Frustrating when this game should have been put away in the first period.

  53. CharlieHodgeFan says:

Huge negativity here – a last place team from last season has outplayed (but not outscored) a power in the league. The Bruins are grinding the Habs down, and finishing. The habs are missing in close, and have to play all out all game to beat a team like this. They sagged at the end of the second and paid for it in the third.

Still, I’ve seen a decent game with two teams getting in each others’ way a lot – sometimes it looks like there are 20 guys on the ice.

Six minutes to go, and both teams have to be very sharp – I hope the habs are sharper….

  54. wickedwelder says:

We need to push back .

  55. Adidess says:

I think we need the young guys out there. We need infusion of energy, more tempo

  56. Coca Cola Kid says:

The Habs tonight are bearing an uncanny resemblance to the 2011-2012 team, no jump, no flow, no sync

  57. wickedwelder says:

VERY DISAPPOITING WITH THERE HEART IT NOT THERE.

  58. neumann103 says:

Time to put out Gally Eller Gally line

    “Et le but!”

  59. RockinRey says:

Video session tomorrow for the boys!

  60. showey47 says:

DD getting killed in the faceoffs at 33%, Eller 67%

  61. RockinRey says:

    Tough Crowd!!!

  62. twilighthours says:

Who accused us of being outcoached? I agree. Habs have no answer for Bruins’ trap. Forwards are getting way too high, D can’t pass it thru 3 guys.

  63. tricolore says:

It’s time to unleash the stallion called Subban.

Lafleur, coming out rather gingerly on the right side.

  64. jols101 says:

Little Habbies getting tossed around like rag dolls….

  65. AnimalMother says:

I’ve honestly tried for as long as humanly possible, but I am absolutely done with DD. he has to go.

  66. HabinBurlington says:

Hey Mr. Boone some of the Commentariat is getting on DD’s case as well! :)

  67. frontenac1 says:

What’s up with Diaz tonight? Is he drunk?

  68. Stormin says:

Krejci vs Plekanec we are being out Czeched tonight,

  69. HNS says:

    This team is still soft.

  70. RockinRey says:

This is (groin) pain for the kids. Better to happen now than when we meet Bruins in playoffs.

I would like to see Therrien make some adjustments. Anything to kick start this thing!!

  71. AnimalMother says:

Time to blow up 1st line. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

  72. wickedwelder says:

Really !! NO WHITE can our team be a team and work and stand together wake up!!!!!!!!!!!! my GOD.
