Liveblog: Anyone expect that?

The Canadiens head into All-Star weekend on a high with a resounding 7-2 win over the number one team in the league.

Max Paciorety made franchise history by scoring the 11,400th home-ice goal … to make it 5-0 in the second period.

This game illustrated why no sane person bets on sports.

The parade will follow its usual route: from the Bell Centre to the Douglas Hospital

I don`t know about U Boone but I have wet meself twice so far!

  2. punkster says:

Well, that’s it/ I’m convinced. This Desharnais kid is too small for the NHL.

Trade him while his value is high.

    DO IT PG!!!

Question: has anyone here tried to watch the games? I’m considering subscribing but would like a review or two from within the HIO community.

They brought their f____ing toys with them!

  6. temekuhabs says:

OMG!!! Think Babcock will strap on the pads??

  7. jedimyrmidon says:

    What is happening!?!?

The F is going on tonight??!!

  10. habsfaninboston says:

    DD on the PP!

  11. habsguru says:

chicken wings by the 2nd period….. must be PK’s fault.

  12. Strummer says:

Leafs did the same thing to the Wings a couple of weeks back, got a 3-0 lead I think in the first.

Seems Detroit hits the snooze button and misses the early-going against lower level opponents

  13. NickDags says:

I think its the earliest Ole Ole EVER! 1 min into the 2nd. Unbelievable.

    • athanor says:

Ole Ole is not Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, so it could come in the first period and not be out of place. That wouldn’t make it any less irritating perhaps, but …

  14. RetroMikey says:

Big deal, we finally win a blowout game, too late, Now we can startting trading Pleks and others and rebuild this team.
Too early to get excited for a win like tonight.
I’ll get excited when we tank!

  15. temekuhabs says:

Never seen this coming, not with this edition of the Habs

  16. BLACK ICE says:

The Wings will pinch now which will allow the Habs more chances

  17. sampson12 says:

Ray Ferraro after a period of silence: ‘There’s an element of disbelief to this.’

    No kidding. Love it.

  18. Adidess says:

Ok, please somebody help me here. Does anybody else have a Mtl-Detroit game on their TV where the Habs are leading 5-0 early in the second period?

  19. thorandresson says:

On TSN they mentioned how the last time there was a 5 goal difference between these 2 teams was St Patrick’s last game as a Hab (or Saint).

Hopefully, this time Babcock tells his owners that’s his last game as a Wing Coach, and PG can hire him!

  20. RGM says:

If Scott Gomez doesn’t score tonight, I don’t think he ever will…

GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is probably not our year!

  26. sampson12 says:

Keep it coming. Don’t make these last two periods boring.

  27. habs001 says:

the ak46 of the first period should be seen at worst 7/10 games not 3/10 that has been his career….

  28. The Dude says:

The only reason the Habs are winning is Detroit is to old and too small…ahhhhh

  29. Rob D says:

It’s a great game for the HABS so far. They got the jump on the RW’s early and didn’t let up. But they aren’t making the playoffs..its just a glimpse of a better future. They are really not that far away from being a good team IMO. Lots of talent coming up and they should get a good to great player in the draft. Carey, Eller, DD, Subbs, Diaz,Max,…thats a new group of youngins..

  30. habsfan0 says:

Didn’t Don Cherry once say that the worst lead in hockey is 4-0? Oh..that’s only if the Laffs are holding it.

  31. BLACK ICE says:

    Holy leaping lizards Batman!

  32. russianhabs4life says:

I guess the Face book page will read diffrent tmrw for Gomer who after review of the first goal will have finally have scored since 365 days ago…
Ohh and finally my russian bear gets his first nhl goal yeahhbuddy

  33. VancouverHab says:

It’s another aspect that will cumulatively win him a Norris trophy in five or so years time — P.K. plays with a edge.

This lunatic site at times (joined by media lunatics like F. Gagnon) runs in packs like jackals — trade Subban, Gomez is useless, AK is lazy: totally irrational, totally groupthink.

  34. athanor says:

Interesting stat from that period is that Detroit had 12 hits versus one for the Habs (Eller)

  35. HabinBurlington says:

Lots of time to decide on selling or buying, let the next few weeks decide and oh yah Gomez for Prime Minister!

    • savethepuck says:

I’m thinking the same as you. If they hold on they are 8 pts out of the playoffs. Only 3 behind Winnepeg for 10th and then there are basically 4 teams tied for 7th to 9th ( if you include Was and Fla ). they only have to pass 2 of those teams unless it’s Washington and Florida. If they are more than 4 points out at the deadline, then make the tough decision.

  36. Doooie86 says:

Interesting stat – hits are 12-1 Detroit

  37. Bourque needs a fight for the Gordie Howe hat trick.

  38. habsfan0 says:

Will Babcock change ties? Put on a Concordia University one..Con U.

  39. habsperspective says:

If it only mattered at this point, it seems once the pressure off, they skate, and shoot.

I mean I guess they could win 8/10, or 7 in a row.

    Not likely however.

  40. ooder says:

JM came out and spoke against Subban
will he also mention how wrong he was to not play Emelin and Eller?
The 2010-11 Stanley Cup was not won, but given

  41. Kimberly2u says:

I hate to say it but the wings are playing like us….lol and we are playing like them…the whole team looks out of it…go Habs go

  42. blu3chip says:

I feel ashamed for saying this…

While I’m happy to see the Habs excel, I can’t help but look at our slim chance of making the playoffs, and the possibility of us finally landing a top pick………

  43. I really like it that Gomez is on the score sheet again.

As far as I am concerned, an assist is the same as a goal. It means a player is involved and helping team-mates score.

  44. Bertuzzi says:

These comments are boring. I miss the sarcasm.

  45. Chuck says:

Man, I’m glad tonight’s game starts at 8:30. At least I haven’t missed anything.

  46. axxerd says:

I really hope they don’t trade Kostitsyn. He is willing to take a hometown discount…and how easy is it to get a solid 20 goal scorer who is big and his like him? I know a lot of fans think the grass is always greener….but i think it best to keep the guy we have
Newfoundland’s biggest Habs fan. Hands down.

  47. Strabo says:

Good thing JM isn’t coach anymore, we would be sitting on the lead and headed to a shoot out at the end of the game. Keep ’em rolling RC!

  48. habsfan0 says:

Must be some kind of record 34-0 after 1. Boone reverse jinx at work again.

  49. Mavid says:

one more goal…wings against the wings…

  50. Les Canayens says:

Don’t know if it’s mentioned here already, just read the Bulldogs will move to Laval in 2013.

  51. jedimyrmidon says:

I’m sorely hoping, SORELY, that the Habs keep their foot on the pedal until the end.

  52. Rooster says:

Wow if the habs play some good hockey next month they can easily push themselves into a playoff spot all they’re games except for like 2 are against teams that are fighting for the last couple of spots .

  53. Danno says:

    Goodnight Jimmy

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  54. Adidess says:

I am happy and confused. Based on how this team has played over the last 3 games, they have it in them to do some things.
But if you’re PG, how do go into all-star week-end thinking anything other than being a seller?
Thank God trade deadline is still a month away.

  55. matt jordan says:

    Liveblog: 34-0 after one?

  56. nickster13 says:

    wow 34-0! we rock!

  57. Mondou6 says:

Milbury is so furious that he said instead of beating up a 12 year old tonight, he’s going to knock out two 6 year olds.

  58. naweed235 says:

ahahahahhaha I just read the last 15 or 20 posts and this is priceless…. BOONE you should print screen this thread and put it on a mosaic or something… ahahhaha Everyone is SHOCKED!

  59. P-Habby says:

This is frickin awesome!!! But why? Is it for pride, is it for RC, is it for the scouts? It’s not cause they think the still have a shot at the post season is it?

  60. manu07 says:

Bourque had a great period! Best game as a Hab so far. I liked that trade before but right now it looks like CBC panelists can go f themselves. We won that trade and tonight closes that book!

  61. RGM says:

It has taken just over 16 years, but tonight the Habs are getting payback on Detroit for shellacking Patrick Roy.

  62. D Mex says:

Watching Cunneyworth’s reaction to the elbowing call on Subban, I feel for the guy.
He’s already in a no-win situation, quite possibly feeling (at least some) pressure to play Subban, and this is what he gets in return.

The more I watch and hear about PK Subban, the more I wonder if his psyche is still stuck in minor hockey all star mode. Someone posted below that he needs to grow up.
    No $h!t.

    ALWAYS Habs –

  63. slapshot777 says:

This is the way the Habs should have been playing all season. Great first period. Let’s keep the momentum going for the next two periods.

  67. Mondou6 says:
