Liveblog: Canadiens complete season’s dominance of Ottawa

MaxCole

If the Canadiens played 82 games against the Senators …
Even 20 would have helped.
An easy win that was settled early with Erik Cole’s hat trick inside of six minutes.
That’s 30 for the Canadiens’ most consistent player.

I’m not sure about putting your 1st line on at the end of a 5-1 win but fun game to watch all-in-all

So those Senators really turned it around. *rolls eyes* I just hope the Habs don’t use them as a blue print.

  4. RGM says:

Besides the Bruins, is there a more repugnant team in the NHL than the Senators? So many thugs, such a dislikeable team. Does anybody outside the 613 area code actually like this team?

Mavid lives in the area code and she HATES them.
Somehow don’t believe that is your point ;)

      • RGM says:

LOL I think that says it all right?

Remember that run of years when Canadian teams made it to the Finals? There was never the united “do it for Canada” sentiment for the Sens the way there was for Calgary and Edmonton. And with good reason.

      I can’t stand them. 514 area code!

  5. twilighthours says:

In my estimation, subban has outplayed James Norris Karlsson by a wide margin tonight.

  6. HabFab says:

Wow! Saint John wins 13-4 with Beaulieu having 1G + 2A.
    Shawinigan wins 7-1 with Ellis 2G + 1A.

  7. Mavid says:

maybe the Sens won’t make the playoffs…he he he…that would be wonderful..i was forced to listen to the homers on the radio..one of them was almost suicidal when assclowns goal did not count..whine and snivel about the officiating the whole time..absolutely horrible the sooner these goofs are gone the better

  8. HabinBurlington says:

Staubitz must be nearing a career high for minutes played in a game.

  9. HAHAHAH Subban making Sens look like idiots.

  10. HabsFansince49 says:

I was hoping the Leafs would lose solely because I have a bet with a Leafs fan. But they beat the Devils thanks to Brodeur. I believe it was the worse goal tending I have seen in a NHL game. The shut out was embarrassing if you’re cheering for NJ. Time to retire Marty.

  11. jedimyrmidon says:

EDM and TOR win (CLB too, but the Habs will never sink that low)

WIN wins in OT (a very nice OT period for them on the road)

So there’s nothing wrong with the Habs winning convincingly (Cole with the hat trick).

Not a bad night. Not bad at all.

  12. immortalhab says:

How does this sound: Subbanov, Pacitsyn, Colinski, Desharnov and Pricamov?

Then they will be untouchable in the eyes of the management like those passionless bastardovs we had for years and couldn’t get rid of!

  13. Kimberly2u says:

I’d like to see RC back as well…it took a bit of time but he has then playing well

    • Mondou6 says:

I don’t think he made the most of this opportunity, and there are times where he seems way over his head.

I think they said he’s 15-21-6 since he took over. Not all his fault, but the team nosedived when he took over.

      • habs-fan-84 says:

I would imagine similar things were said of Julien and Vigneault. No doubt as a rookie coach he probably WAS in over his head at times, but overall, I would like to see some consistency in this organization.

Let’s be at least a little bit patient and give RC more than half a season…

    • jedimyrmidon says:

I like RC as a player’s coach and the way he demands more out of his players (although I would to see it being more effective on a guy like Bourque). But I’m not sure he knows how to coach a skilled game. It seems he really emphasizes the dump and chase, but that doesn’t fit everyone and a coach should be able to adapt (JM didn’t adapt at all). The 1st line excels at it. But guys like Pleks who we know can put up points, Eller and perhaps even guys like Bourque who is more of a shooter (though it seems he doesn’t get much room or they are trying to use him like Cole and Pacs) can’t thrive on dumping and chasing. Plus it makes the team too predictable. Not everyone can be like Cole who overpowers players using his speed and size.

  14. neumann103 says:

Subban is playing with such confidence!

    It is great to see

    “Et le but!”

  15. shootdapuck says:

Staubitz, Blunden and White there’s enough cement in those hand to repair Turcotte interchange

  16. Mondou6 says:

In the first two periods, you could decapitate someone and not get 2 minutes.

Now Eller gets a 10 min misconduct for clutching someone.

    Great consistency.

  17. Lars needs to put on some weight before he elbows guys like Cowen after an adrenalin play.

    Re: Eller

Perhaps a misguided shot at Cowen, but I like that Lars has an edge to his play.

  22. twilighthours says:

This is getting embarrassing. Sens making a mockery of the game.

Anywhere other than Montreal, he would be appreciated, rookie coach mistakes and all.

  35. ffenliv says:

New rule proposal: If a player fights to ‘stand up’ for a team-mate after a big hit like that, and there was no penalty for the hit, the fighter gets 2, 4 or 5 minutes depending on how ‘crazy in the eyes’ he looked when he dropped the mitts.

      • twilighthours says:

I have no problem with Neil doing his job there. But I also disagree with fighting after a clean hit. Most of the guys on this site who are angry at Neil would be happy to see staubitz pick on foligno or somebody if we were getting drubbed 5-1.

      • ABHabsfan says:

Clean hit, you shouldn’t have to fight because you made a clean body check. Karlsson put himself in a bad position

Too bad we didn’t have this team in October. Well, they could use a couple of wingers for Pleks though because he’s had the revolving door of crapaliciousness for neighbors this year.

    ***Subbang Baby!!!***

  39. Lars Eller now has 16 goals.

That’s more than AK46. Eller doesn’t deserve the bashing he gets. It’s not like he has amazing linemates.

    • neumann103 says:

Eller is the real deal. 16 goals was my prediction for him. Looks like he beats it. Although I had figured more assists, but that would probably require not being thrown around. It blows my mind that it seems like rocket science for the Habs to give Plekanec and Eller some linemates without hands made of stone

      “Et le but!”

  40. shootdapuck says:

Neil will be running around like a headless chicken.

  44. habs-fan-84 says:

The lamest thing in the NHL at the moment is the apparent necessity of fighting an opponent after a clean body check; it’s truly pathetic.

  45. ffenliv says:

Man, the league has to eliminate that ‘fight after a clean hit’ business. There was nothing dirty about that hit. I imagine he could even have hit him much, much harder.

  46. HabinBurlington says:

Has to be an instigator on Neil

  47. JIMVINNY says:

Typical Neil. Just needed a reason, and Blunden’s clean hit was apparently enough of one.

  48. F’in Neal, he has to be taken off. Campoli is huggin Alfred. Nice guy. Neal is an idiot.
