If the Canadiens played 82 games against the Senators …
Even 20 would have helped.
An easy win that was settled early with Erik Cole’s hat trick inside of six minutes.
That’s 30 for the Canadiens’ most consistent player.
I think a player who gets suspended for an infraction the player who was injured or the team he plays for dictates which games the offender sits against. It may not be X games in a row.
Love the added toughness White and Staubitz bring. Its nice not being the laughing stock of the league anymore.
I think when Moen is healthy, he is a full notch above those guys and should be on our 3rd line.
I like Blunden for the 4th line, he is very physical and enjoys the banging and crashing. But, he has too decide if dropping the mits once and a while is worth a $800,000 NHL contract. If not, back to the AHL and play for $80,000 a year.
We needed someone to step up and give Zach Smith a go and that should have been him. White and Staubitz can only do so much.
Just my opinion, sure all the tree huggers will dramatically disagree.
If your not skilled enough to play on the top three lines, you better be willing to make an impact other ways or back to the AHL…pretty simple really.
I think you are selling Blunden short. I have posted re keeping White and Staubitz and having Moen. But I think Blunden is a better hockey player than White and Staubitz with better hands. H
He may notbe as good a fighter but he hits cleaner and checks with more efefctiveness. In short Blunden may be a player like Moen and I think he will be a good spot player in the line-up. We should keep him too if we can.
My two cents (who cares right?): we don’t need a Chara or Neil. I’d rather we go with six tough mobile D. Have big 3rd and 4tg liners, make sure our top six are skilled forwards with some size.

Hey while we talk Staubitz and White and Blunden let’s not forget Moen. With the addition of Staubitz, Moen will be much much more motivated and effective. And Moen has shown that he is more than a ‘tough’ guy.
I realy look forward to next year having a full season of White Staubitz and Moen. We may not have room for Blunden but he is ok too.
I am married to a Sens fan, and even he thinks Potvin is a goof..I am not sure how this guy managed to get a second year..but then I guess the Sens will take anyone who kisses their ass…
missed the first period and half of the third..I see that express thingy is on I must watch that first period to see Cole’s hat trick…so nice to rub it in their arrogant faces..
saw the second on sportsnet..typical Potvin..and Brown…whinning and crying…
common pittsburg…
With Markov back, Emelin, Gorges and Subban as a top 4. 5th and 6th shutdown defensemen picked up over summer and the addition of a top 5 draft pick the Habs are in fine shape.
Oh ya, we have Price in net.
Also forgot to mention: Leblanc, Tinordi, Ellis, Beaulieu, Gallagher and Holland
standings don’t lie, we are last place in the East. I would suggest this season is an anomaly. Management does not suck, they are however, an easy scapegoat.
As an interviewee, Cole is so different than his on-ice persona. I am listening to team990 post game and he is absolutely droll, whereas his referee high-fiv eon the ice tells you he plays the game like a kid.
I got a good view of Cole when he was yapping with the Ottawa players at the end of the second period and he can get pretty heated… Cole plays like a kid indeed: all heart, always looks like he’s having fun, and has no regard for his body. He’s a treat to watch play along with Subban, Markov, Gorges, Pacioretty, Desharnais and Price. Most of the guys looked like they were having fun tonight which is nice to see.
Obviously they don’t have much depth and that’s hurt them bigtime, but I think that the Habs have a decent core if they can only rid themselves of the anchors (Gomez et al) and add a solid supporting cast. A few front-liners wouldn’t hurt either…
I watched the game on Sportsnet, Denis Potvin and his partner are such WHINERS!! It was as bad as Boston and Toronto homers, and as irritating as Bob Cole and Glen Healy. Just awful.
Three players making over 15 million per season combined “G-Love,GI-ontia and Krapthebederly NOT IN THE LINE-UP and we finally play as a Team and look good with 9 games left and in last place….
What’s their record since Markov came back? 4-1-3?
Just sayin’. Now what if Gionta were there?
Habs need some depth for next year. And I’m not talkin’ Rene Bourque depth, I mean actual depth. If they get it, they’ll be fine. Actually they’ll be fine anyway, providing they don’t have the same ridiculous number of injuries.
Bill this is the biggest need. Unless Tinordi comes in and makes a huge leap I dont see any in the system. I think there is enough talent in the organization to upgrade our scoring… providing we play the right system. Will be nice to add both a big winger or centre from UFA and a BIG D. But priority mustbe to a big D. I think we can find scoring talent from the prospects..
I think they will be even better than fine. If it wasn’t for our injuries, who knows? We are just a couple of depth players from putting the rest of the league on notice.
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.

What a season from Erik Cole.
I do hope Gauthier is removed from the organization at season’s end, but he did manage to sign Erik Cole.

love this post
Don’t need those guys, turn your cheeks and hit them where it hurts, on the PP.

Teams with 2 or more 30-goal scorers:
Pitt, NYI (what?), Ott and ….MTL
Now who had money on that?
“man, I love winnin’; you know, it’s like better than losin’?”-
Ebby Calvin “Nuke” Laloosh
Pittsburgh is a great team to emulate.. they have al the parts including a great coach.
So is he officially known as Eric F. Cole yet?
Only in Ottawa!

The cerebral insight of PJ Stock:
“Le problem est Markov n’a pas jouer un seul game cette annee”
“Louis Leblanc est un kid locale”
Wouldn’t it be nice to have this feeling 45 or times more next season?

Yea, get a magazine!
And a room!

Can we have 10 loser points too?
45 hat tricks by Erik Cole? Heck yes!
25 before 14
Have a great night everyone! A win and no harm done.

I fully endorse the sentiment of your post with a +1.

So is it unanimous.. STAUBITZ is back for next year!
I wish I could say “we”, but for now I’ll just say “I can dream”.
White-Staubitz-Blunden, let’s play Boston

so awesome that after so many years we finally have some legit 4th liners in Moen, White, Staubitz, and Blunden….
Finally th universe is back in order. Where are all the no need for fighters tonight?

Tweet to team990 post-game show “erik cole has more goals in one period than Gomez in a season”
Will say it again:
Next year:
-Pacioretty 30+ goals
-Cole 25+ goals
-Desharnais 20+ goals
-Eller 20+ goals
-Pleks 20 goals
-Gionta 25+ goals
-Bourque 15+ goals

ya but management sucks *rolls eyes
have some patience people.
I notice you didnt have a tally for Gomez.
lol….my bad
will say it again, check the standings, still last place
Its the amateur scouting department that is keeping the Canadiens respectable. The management of this team does suck.
standings don’t lie, we are last place in the East. I would suggest this season is an anomaly. Management does not suck, they are however, an easy scapegoat.
Don’t forget Staubitz 15 fights next year.

Moen must feel relieved not to be the only guy on the team who will drop’em

That was amazing, I’m walking on air right now, but I have to admit I’m looking ahead to April 7: The Battle For 14th
I watched the game on Sportsnet, Denis Potvin and his partner are such WHINERS!! It was as bad as Boston and Toronto homers, and as irritating as Bob Cole and Glen Healy. Just awful.
….Hab4life….
Nothing in all of pro sports is as bad as Jack Edwards in Boston, but yeah, the two Ottawa clowns tonight were horrendous.
I couldn’t stand them even if I was an Ottawa fan. I hate homers and shills.
Feels good eh!

It’s going to be ugly tomorrow, they’ve used too much energy tonight.
Still love a convincing win by the Habs!

Like P.A. Parenteau and Matt Carle depth?
“man, I love winnin’; you know, it’s like better than losin’?”-
Ebby Calvin “Nuke” Laloosh
Parenteau I am not sure about. He’s kind of a career minor-league guy who found himself on a line with Tavares … I think he’d disappear in Montreal.
I’d be looking for Ryan Malone kinda guy (minus the douchebag element, which I realize is large).

I agree with you on that one….

Gauthier has a giant beanstalk growing outside his window.
Meaningless but fun. Let’s hope we still get a pick!
