Unplug the panic button.
Five sleeps till the opener.
Playing without Andrei Markov, Lars Eller, Ryan White and Travis Moen, the Canadiens looked great against a very good team, romping to a 5-1 win.
Carey Price is ready for the regular season.
So is Scott Gomez.
The team looked great in all aspects of the game … including courage, as evidenced by Josh Gorges going after the thug Ryan Malone, who tried to decapitate Chris Campoli

Fack you Ryan Malone. Fack you.
Good job by Gorges. That’s not his job though, but great job.
They have the technology, they’ve built his knee stronger, better, and faster.
Is that a 10 gamer?
Attaboy Gorges, that was a horseshit play.
…on Quebec getting and deserving another team …I couldn’t agree more …anyone who lived through that passionate time of the Montreal-Quebec City rivalry remembers how much ‘fun’ it was
…but what confuses Me is, if I was Geoff Molson, WHY ? would I approve sharing the Quebec market (7 to 7.5 million people) with a new Nordiques team plus Ottawa within 150 km of Montreal east & west ? …why would Bell want to share this market with Pelodeau ? …or Molson beer with whatever beer competitor Quebec City signs-on with ?
…Toronto and Buffalo, NY can veto another team in Hamilton/Kitchener-Waterloo, and Our Habs have no similar competitive veto ?
…please explain the logic and business sense of Our Habs saying yes to a relocation of an NHL team to Quebec City to this aging jock out here in the Land Of Lotus

This is something of a scouting game for me: I have Stamkos, Hedman, and Cole in my HIO hockey pool.
I’s it gomezs contract year?
The last year of big bucks, maybe he thinks he can get it renegotiated up after this year?
No, but if he has another terrible year he’ll probably end up in the ahl next year. If he’s good he’ll stay in the nhl either here or in a cap floor market.
Good news in Toronto, right now Lombardi is #1 centre. Grabo got hurt, Connelly is hurt, khadri hurt, and some other pylon cent reman hurt
Truculent news right there

I think that Gomez has taken more shots this preseason than he did all of last year.
Few times i see Cole pushin people off of Price’s Crease.. when play stops… Righteous.
LJV is maaaaad
I’m starting to think Cammy doesn’t like this rink

antichambre in quebec? get ready for a full hour of bergy, bergy!
Haven’t seen that from the Habs in a while. 5 on 5 and they looked like they were on the PP. Then after the puck gets coughed up at the blue line PK gets back and directs Gill to the trailer and covers the man going in. Pretty good execution and on ice communication.
Such awesome disrespect to tell Skillsy where to go

Glass half full or half empty?
Was anybody really nervous during Pyatt’s breakaway down the right side?
no
I tried really hard to care….I promise….but I mean, it’s Tommy Boy..

Absolute junk call on Moore.

If by “junk” you mean “textbook offensive zone holding call”, yeah, totally agree.
The ice in QC looks better than 80% of NHL rinks. Give Quebec a team.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
*Thumb up*
more pertinently, the arena is FULL. Give them a gorram team.
Agreed. Enough is enough already. Give hockey to people that want it.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
Well, you know, them sunbelt teams are a huuuuge cash cow for the NHL and all….
Even if a new ‘Diques never made a dime… if we’re going to have money-losing teams let’s have some in Canada.

No kidding.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
But this is the MAD thing: people still buy Nordiques jerseys! I’ll bet Nordiques jerseys outsell Islander or Coyote jerseys. It’s a NO BRAINER. Get these peeps a team.
The league expanded into the sunbelt when the dollar as $0.65USA and it seemed like Canada had resigned itself to being a banana repulic, dependent on US exports for economic prosperity. And look at us now- a team in WINNIPEG! I don’t believe it’s more important for the league to field a team in Phoenix- where neighborhoods are desintegrating Detroit-like into the desert as property values plummet and people move away from a desert craphole they had no business being in in the first place- than for the league to have a team in Quebec. Quebec, a stable, consistent metropolis with disposable income, no murders for four years (!), and a mad love for hockey and a no-brainer marketing plan when (not “if”) the Nordiques ever come back.
Another plus is it would alleviate some of the political bs that constantly hangs over the Habs.
Desharnais draws a PK! On our old buddy Moore.
whats up with Engqvist ? since you dont like him, i mean
Wow, what happened here? Where did this D come from? Suddenly it’s no longer PK and then everyone else.
Those Habs are such kidders. Playing all those prospects during the pre-season to get a closer look at what’s in the pipes and losing all those games like that. Haha. What a bunch of leg pullers.
I don’t want to criticize Gomez ’cause he’s playing great this pre-season, but I wish he’d quit using that move where he carry’s it over the blueline, stops and then waits too long and passes it to a TB defender. That move didn’t work last tear and it ain’t gonna work this year.
Big difference tonight with a more complete team than Thursday night. The Habs with a healthy lineup is as good as anyone in the NHL. I guess Boucher’s master game plan not working tonight.
I find the Habs have Tampa fustrated tonight, you can see it in their game, their body language and pretty much after every whistle.
Refs should also be laying the penalties more on crap like what Tampa is doing tonight. I mean Downie that idiot is always with the cheap shot. He seems to have a reputation for doing that crap in preseason. Imagine on the Habs grabbing Stamkos like that. There would be a penalty period. Same with Malone on Price should have been goaltender interference.
I see Tampa with lots of cheap digs, like Stamkos kicking with Campoli on the ice, whats wrong can use his stick to try and free the puck. Lots of good play tonight from players we need to be good on a nightly basis.
Habs play like this on any night and they will on most nights come away with a win.

ah classic RDS!! up 4-1 after a 1-6 preseason and what do they bring up??? “we should’ve kept Dumont with the club”
Something to ponder: seems to me, the nights we lose, there are six hundred posts. The nights we win, there are two hundred posts.

Gomez, in 8 preseason games is already at about 30% of last year’s regular-season goal production

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Gomez will have a great comeback season. You can see it in the way he is playing already. He has a more determined effort to carry the puck in the offensive zone and he seems that he is willing to shoot more.
To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
Gomez actually wins face offs, shoots, scores, defends…….I thought that can only happen on PS3.
No complain, but a huge hope that he keeps up the good work or never remove that rabbit foot implant he stuck in there somewhere, whichever works

He is playing bigger too.
Martin with Halak two season’s ago.
Martin never with Lalime.
Martin with Budaj last night. Boucher with Roloson (not Melanson).
Martin with Price tonight. Boucher with Garon.
Show me a good coach, and I’ll show you a good goalie.
I’m not sure I buy this. I think it’s the other way round.
It’s an old hockey saying oft time quoted by Don Cherry. Don’t argue with tradition.
HAH! Who am I to agree with The Don?
Pretty sure it was Roloson last night, Melanson’s busy making sure he strips Vancouver’s goalies of their mental confidence.

Thanks for the correction. And LOL!!!
Quebec deserves a gorram hockey team. I hate to admit it, but.. listen to that crowd. It’s absurd that city doesn’t have a team.
Spacek is having an excellent night.

Swimming upstream again, Andrew?
Always do.
http://twitter.com/andrewberkshire
The best defense men IMO have been Subban, Spacek and Gorges with Gill close behind at 4th. Campoli looks like a good pick-up too.
Agree!
considering he hasn’t had much training to get into game shape, Campoli has played well
Agreed for sure. Oddly enough, after a few people said I was being hard on Campoli I did some research, wrote a 1700 word article breaking down his advanced stats, then SB Nation ate it. So I’m probably never going to re-write it but basically he’s pretty good according to the numbers.

When considering the all time greatest Habs players ever to wear the storied #63, I’m afraid I have to give Craig Darby the edge over Engqvist.
Haha
Love the ref’s face on that no-goal. The “I can’t believe you’d even try that” face.
Saw a ‘diques jersey cheering the habs… Hold on while I push this flying pig out the window
Olé, olé, olé oleé
lol I saw that too! great observation!
Like it!!
PK just made Malone his biatch.
Malone reminds me of Marchand, but without the talent.
Malone has better tats……
Malone’s a son of a bitch but i’d love to have him on the Habs
also: PK’s got some SOLID moves on defense sometimes
uh…no goal…assholes..
second place is just the first loser
lol..that was a goal.
So, is Plecky going to be the newest pariah this year?
The way Gomez has been playing, some posters might need new material.
and then a two handed shove on Price. Real classy Malone.
Love the Count complaining to Perry… “They just don’t listen, 4 goals before the end of the 2nd. Time and time again, we only allow 1 goal and score 2…that is THE SYSTEM!! Bag skate them tomorrow!!
hahaha, that actually made me laugh
Hardhabits. You got sore feet?
Either that or I am swimming in the Nile.
lol. What a terrible call. 2 minutes for being stronger.
palushaj’s best shift of the preseason.
Cole seems awesome so far. he seems to shoot the a little less flex when he tries for rebound on the pads and when he sees an opening, he really shoots it. Did that made sense?
“Responding to the media , or playing to the media, or listening to the fans is the quickest way to start losing” – Sam Pollock
Corey Crawford and Carey Price the next two goalies for team Canada in Olympics????
Don’t forget Reimer because he was in team Canada last year who everyone didn’t realize that the other best goalies were still IN the playoffs. lol
“Responding to the media , or playing to the media, or listening to the fans is the quickest way to start losing” – Sam Pollock
Don’t forget about Luongo or Fleury.
25 before 14
Hmm, AK needs to wake up, duno if fighting would be wise tho…
Where is Cammy, and DD needs to look b4 he passes…
Really liking Cole and even Campoli
Enqwist seems so big yet so invisible, 6″3 :S
Gomez should stop waiting for GIO, just go to net and shoot
I hate to ask. I hate to be that guy. But anyone with a link to a stream of tonights game?
do a search for “exou09″, it should lead to a justin.tv channel

EDIT: So much for discretion.
I hate to admit it, but I am too tipsy to look back that far. We just bought a blender and a HUGE bag of limes, and my wife has been an astonishing margarita angel since around 6pm. So MUCHO MUCHO Habsolutely, I am locked and loaded. Until I fall asleep or pass out, which ever comes first.
You type pretty good for someone who has been indulging…..
and no ryan white or moen to drop them
Things getting nasty out there.
Remember when Gilmour was playin in MTL and Cole scored for Carolina… Cole had his hands up and celebrated in Gilmour’s face… LoL..!!
lmao at the bi-polar disorder we, Habs’ fans, suffer from.
AK mixing it up?????wtf!
kostitsyn bit off more than he could chew with downy
yeah 4-1!! jacques for jacks…….adams
How can this be happening to the megamind genius that is Guy Boucher??
—Hope Springs Eternal—
After Tampa loses, they’ll somehow magically get the Stanley Cup anyway, such is the power of Boucher……
Boucher standing on his bench, bangs the base of a hockey stick, and shouts:

No megamind can do anything about coughed up pucks. That’s all on the players, genius.

Man, Yzerman really fleeced us on the Desjardins deal. The guy’s a genius. Cedric’s gonna be… oh wait a minute…
has he played at all in the preseason?
They let him go, for nothing.
lol can’t believe people were going crazy when we traded him
It’s only 4-1 after two. Can the Habs hold onto this slim lead. Because you know they are going to go into shut down mode for the next 20 minutes.
That’s right everyone, don’t be dazzled by that silver cloud. It has a dark, dark lining, and I for one am happy that HH has brought it to our attention.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
Am I the only one who’s confused by this out offensive out burst. Not the Habs but your comment.
But seriously. I am sure JM had a talk with them to settle them down.
Please note. Gill on the back end breaking up the play and quick outlet. Score!
Relax, people! It’s only pre-season.
Y’think there are a few Habs who could learn how to release a shot like Cole? That puck was behind Garon before he knew the shot had been taken.
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
Love that Cole didn’t even look in Pacioretty’s direction for a possible pass. A goal-scorer going in for the kill.
F yeah. it’s good to be a Hab fan tonight
I just wet my pants seeing Max Pac and Cole on a semi 2 on 1
-GK-
Remember 20 seconds ago when people were complaining about Cole tonight?
Twenty sec… hm?
Who remembers tw…

SQUIRREL!

well its about time, now watch JM put him back up with Cammi and pleks
