Each had two goals in TB’s easy 4-0 win.
The Canadiens had two good lines, a fourth line of future Bulldogs and a goaltender who is going to keep Carey Price busy this season.
Dwayne Roloson, who turns 42 on Oct. 12, recorded the shutout.
Trailing 3-0, the Canadiens mustered all of two shots in the third period.

Yep: repeatedly — three times on the last shift alone.
More shooting, net drive, and seemingly quicker decision-making tonight compared to last season. His game looks much better.
I know it’s the preseason, and that we have rookies and a few certified AHLers in our lineup facing a near full NHL roster. But even if we aren’t, in toto, as skilled as we could be because of the non-roster players, neither are we as fast. Boston and TB are just as fast. How does that bode for the season? I don’t think we’re terrible but we’re all in all a pretty average team. I predict with or without Patches and Cole, we’re going to have our share of nights like this. I do think the team has lots of heart and I think they’ll be full value for their talent level. I just question if the talent level is that high, and the notion that we’re a skilled, fast (albeit small, but not smaller than Buffalo) team.
I know it’s preseason and all, but these dudes can score for love or money!

Is it just me, or does it seem like he always gets better late in games. I still wonder if his meds for his epilepsy are right. Guy can be so effective, but seems to start sluggish. Of course most of the roster tonight still hasn’t woken up tonight.

Anyone know who the Habs pro shouts are. I think Timmins does a pretty good job at the draft but our pro scouting seems to be a weak point. Even Pierre McGuire was asking yesterday “who scouted this guy to sign him for 2 years”. And when we think about pros like Niimanni, Boyd, Larocque, who is scouting these guys and recommending them to the GM.
Even Pierre McGuire was taking a shot at Habs Management? No. Never. Pierre would never utter a bad word about management.
Was McGuire wrong about Niiniimaa, Laracque etc? The Habs pro scouting is weak.
Every team, every season is wrong about players. Pierre is wrong about players all the time too.
Who was the proscout that recomended Dominic Moore and the Wiz?
I am frustrated tonight as the rest, but to say “Even Pierre McGuire” really is a stretch. The guy has been begging for a job in the NHL for years now and no one will hire him. He is a TV personality. Very good at opening a door which Jagr and Lemieux would walk through however.

At this point, Im concluding DD is overrated, he skates fast, BUT, does not have the vision of a center. And enough PP time for him, he’s way too uncreative to play PP.
Why is our 3rd playing vs TB 1st? Is JM that bad to get outplayed so badly… (very likely as the laffs outplayed JM in ottawa year after year in the playoffs)

No finish today, we have some decent pocession, but we’re just not clicking. I suppose that comes with the fact that we have no superstar that can just score at a moments notice, a la Stamkos, so the only way we’ll start scoring is when we really start clicking. That’s what preseasons for anyway…
But Budaj, in terms of speed, positioning, and control, reminds me a lot of David Abeisher. Basically, he does not look anywhere near NHL calibre right now. Even his saves look like they could go in.
Plekanec can move the puck. I really liked that PP with Pleks on the point.
If only Cammalleri could do what he is paid to do, score goals. This would be such a different game.
You know Cammi had 3 in 3 before tonight, right? He missed two can’t-miss chances, but that won’t happen often. He’s almost always money on that hash-mark high shot on the 2-on-1, or any other situation from that spot, really.
Everyone has an off night. If he retained this pace, he’s score 60+ this year. Of course, he won’t. I doubt anyone in the league will bag 60, but you’re complaining about a guy who scored in 3 straight games, and missed chances in the 4th.
Actually, in playoffs cammy is great, in season he’s overpaid.
And i get the feeling we shouldnt mention this, but Gionta is vastly overrated. He got 29 goals with PRIME minutes, got PP time every game, was moved with plexxx…
After his stay in montreal, people will probably come to admit he was a mistake and letting Boucher go was an even bigger one… (same goes for Kirk, but i guess him not speaking french excuses his loss)
