The Tampa Bay Lightning brought an NHL lineup to the Bell Centre, including super sniper Steven Stamkos and promising rookie Brett Connolly.
Each had two goals in TB’s easy 4-0 win.
The Canadiens had two good lines, a fourth line of future Bulldogs and a goaltender who is going to keep Carey Price busy this season.
Dwayne Roloson, who turns 42 on Oct. 12, recorded the shutout.
Trailing 3-0, the Canadiens mustered all of two shots in the third period.

I agree with you BUT – pre-season tickets should be cheaper. I paid $110 each for Kings/Ducks pre-seasoners, and all the Ducks stars sat. (LA played Kopitar, Richards and Quick, and lost anyway. Doughty didn’t play… giggle giggle…)

You’ve got that right. Our goalie gave one up with 10 seconds left in the 2nd period last night and I felt aaaaalllllll the way there.
Are you getting enough fibre in your doggie diet, SD? Steve Stamkos is left alone in the slot: that’s one hell of a wrister for any goalie from there. And he has DD setting a perfect screen on a close-range howitzer from…Steve Stamkos. I don’t know if Budaj is great or terrible or both–but we know nothing from those two goals.
Since you seem to think he can just score at will, it’s nice that Stamkos waited until being up against Budaj to score his 1st and 2nd goals of the preseason.

Not something we’ll be seeing happen all the time, and neither of which were a result of Tampa Bay playing well. Mental miscues. Meanwhile Roloson is standing on his head and we’ve out-chanced them by double.

So you can outplay the opposition and it’s a guaranteed win except if you get scored against by lucky goals because lucky goals mean you didn’t outplay the opposition, even if you win. Check.

Well Cami hitting the post on a 2-on-1 was a highlight. But there weren’t that many real threats, a lot of the play was peripheral. And Tampa did twice what we couldn’t do with all the chances you’re seeing. There’s something to be said for just getting it done, regardless of the on-paper points.
