First and foremost HH, there will always be a Designated Scapegoat (DS ™) on the Habs for the whiners to whine about. Just as with the Price whines nce the Gomez whines fade a new target will presnt himself. And they’ll always have JM, PG and BG.
Second, better drafting some years ago would have been helpful but the past is the past. The last few years haven’t been so bad and with the perennial middle picks we seem to have quite done alright.
Finally your point about being sellers…I’m sure there are deals that could have been made but at the time were they the right trades/purchases for the team? We just don’t know because we have little idea who or what was on the table (both in trades and in dollar discussions). Lots of guesses and “expert” opinion.
You can count me as one of those then, What do you expect that Gomez would do? Win a face off? Not likely. Score a goal ? Not Likely. Make a big hit? Not likely. Superb D zone coverage? Not likely. Tell me exactly what you think he would bring to that situation?
A guy who’s always been known as a playmaker just scored 20 goals for the fifth straight season. I don’t know what more you can ask from our most consistent and overworked forward.
Pouliot loves playing on the same line with Wee DD.I think White complimented them.
Habs lines are fine. Leave them as they are for as long as possible.
I know Desharnais has been having chemistry with Pouliot, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the 1st line with Plekanec and Cammy. Benoit is a big boy with good hands, I think he would provide a nice compliment – similar in the way Max-Pac does to Gomez and Gionta.
I would have suggested Andrei, but with the way he, Lars, and Moen are clicking I wouldn’t want to tinker with that line. Let Andrei build up some momentum
no offense to spacek, as he is a great guy; but he’s a half decent player, and the end of his career
we’re not any better or worse with sopel/mara/picard/weber in place of him.
IMO, all of these guys are interchangeable 5/6th dmen. spacek is supposed to be an offensive threat, but that part of the game has left him—right now weber’s advantage is his shot—if he could hit the net, he’d have 5 more goals by now.
God, I hope not. When your goalie wins a Hart trophy, it usually means the rest of the team either aren’t talented enough or they simply don’t show up on most nights. I don’t even think a goalie’s won the Hart since Theo in 2002, and that year Yannick Perrault led the team with 56 points. Yiiiiikes.
Hey. I am only pushing my agenda. I still say the way to go is to stock up on picks.
Do you know what the real value of making the ECFs last season was? I’ll tell you. The Habs managed to trade an impeding arbitration eligible RFA for two prospects, one that is proving himself to be a great acquisition. Had the Habs not made the play-offs Halak would’ve been worth far, far less.
The Halak trade IMO was the type of move the Habs need to continue making to be successful in this league.
Are you really thinking that for the end of the season and playoffs, we might has well put Gomez in the minors or play 10 minutes a game?
I like the current set up of having 4 balanced lines. I wish the Pleks line would have someone better on it instead of Halpern, but other then that, I am quite confortable with these lines. Gomez, MaxPac and Gionta are looking good. Thanks to MaxPac. Not to Gomez. Not to Gionta. Shall we send Gionta in the minors too?
How many assists has Gionta got since the allstar? One or two?
Lets be serious here. Picard and Mara (and Gill on 5vs5) are not good Ds. You don’t want them against speedy and talented players. There is a huge gap between them and Weber and Spacek. Legitimate starters vs spare parts trying to make a living. Its like Bergie thinking the Wiz and Bergeron are in the same class…
Yes, Mara can hit and won’t be intimidated. Yes Picard doesn’t look completely out of place. But I don’t want them taking regular shifts.
Spacek, I have always respected and can be a good defenseman. Even since he got back to his natural left side, you have to agree that he has looked really good. I have no problem with Spacek/Weber for next year and Spacek/Sopel for the playoffs. They will be shutdown.
The Bruins announcers are worried about matching up with the Canadiens in the playoffs. Lots of talk on the New England Sports Channels about trying to get above Tampa so they can play the Rangers, Carolina, or some team other than the Canadiens.
One of my buddies is a big briuns fan, and he is worried about playing montreal as well. I think it would just be too much to take for the habs to beat them. I think Boston has the right to be worried, to be honest. I think if montreal lets the Briuns rough them into the ground, then we may be in trouble. If we can turn the other cheek and play hockey, I think they will run into penalty trouble, which could be the difference. We need max pac in front of thomas every minute if we get the briuns in the first round. Thomas is great, but he gets hot under the collar.
———————————————————————— “Young people have seen that a team can play electrifying, fascinating hockey while still behaving like gentlemen.” ~Serge Savard~
To all those saying “win this game, lose that game, to meet this team for the playoffs” please cool your jets. There are 17 games left to play and we’re 6 points from Boston. We can still take the 1st in the division. Plus all the other teams are going to move around a lot – it is WAY too early to imagine who’s playing who.
Last year, our opponent was decided on the last day of regular season. I foresee a similar end to this season.
Including to the Leaves. Every team goes through rough patches – every team. The key is to get it over with before March/April. Winning in the playoffs has a lot to do with getting hot at the right time.
Don’t agree. Weber has been here all year, playing a lot and improving. He may be one of our PP pointmen of the future. He will be inexpensive for the next few years and could round into a Streit-like defenceman.
Boone, I have an idea. As Habs Inside/Out is a spin-off of the Gazette, it should have its own Gomez Inside/Out spin-off to siphon off all the monotonous garbage. Surely it would be a hit, but may present a danger to the the continued success of this site. Still, I think it should be investigated…
Pouliot has all the tools. But he is missing some hockey sense. He is not a bona fide Top-6. He looks like one even less frequently then AndreiK. Yet, doesn’t get bashed on…
Well in his defense, I wouldn’t expect him to be bashed. He was traded for in exchange for junk. And makes less money. i do think he has become fairly consistent though. Good chance next year he will be a 20 goal, 20 assist guy, good forechecking and backchecking, reasonable physical presence, fall down a lot, with an annual beatdown of an opposing player.
Gomez doesn’t have the upside, but he can be very useful. This year, we need him. We need to get behind him, not boo him. This year, there is not a bona fine 2nd line center other then him. Don’t make me laugh about DD and Eller: I actually think Eller will be better then Plek in 2-3 years. But this year, he is not ready. Nor is DD.
The offseason it will be another story. But in the meantime, get ahold of yourselves. Gomez is here to stay.
I think it’s safe to say we’ll be playing either Tampa, or Boston in round one. Personally I would rather play Boston in the first round instead of meeting them later when the grind of the playoffs has taken a toll on the habs bodies.
I am with you. My post comes out of boredom and annoyance with the constant bashing.
I like both Desharnais and Eller alot, but as you were alluding to, look at this way…
Game 7 of a playoff series, late in a close game… who do you want on the ice? Gomez or one of those two? Anyone who says Eller or Desharnais is a liar or just foolish.
I disagree, Weber is the future here not Mara. I like Mara and he’s been good physically since he came back, but Weber *should* be the one playing more games. Sopel, Mara and Picard are switchable.
Gomez is one of the last legitimate topics for the incessant whining crowd to latch onto. Since Price has trumped Halak the Gomez topic is the last bastion with which people can take out their own personal petty frustrations on.
It’s painfully obvious that he’s having a bad season. But I’ve only witnessed a few games where he was patently awful. It doesn’t matter because people attach unrealistic and unattainable expectations on Gomez largely due to his cap hit.
It’s also a means by which people can push their anti-JM and BG agenda.
Mind you had the Habs drafted better or had become sellers in the past and acquired talent that way all this would be moot.
And therein lies the marvellous aspect of the NHL. Drop any or all of those 3 teams from the serious contender list and who takes their place? Think last year Caps, Pens, etc in the east…
If my math is correct (not even close to a sure thing) Pac-man would be on pace for a 30 goal season if he had 82 games. A big body 30 goal scorer? Ya that works. SO glad e’s turned into the player he is.
The way he’s scoring his goals — by piling up shots rather than high shooting percentage — tends to indicate it’s the kind of thing he can reproduce on a long period, unlike rookies who get lucky and score 8 goals on their first 40 shots or so.
That means he could easily be looking at 25, 30 goals next year, more if he’s lucky.
Don’t forget the Habs are missing Gorges and Markov not to mention Spacek and Darche. Add to that the rookies Subban and Eller, with a kiddie corps of call-ups in Eller, Desharnais, Pacioretty and White.
Tuesday’s game will be a serious measuring stick but it goes to the rest of the season to see how this team stands up.
Nothing wrong with having a critical view and not needng to wear rose coloured glasses. I totally appreciate your caution and it’s warranted.
I disagree on the spanking part though. Mara and Sopel add grit and Gill will be in the game (he wasn’t dressed for the last Boston game if I am not mistaken). All the Habs need to do is play disciplined.
I hated the last Boston game, not so much for the loss but because I could never stand either the Bruins or Flyers taking liberties with my beloved Habs.
Nevertheless, smaller and skilled Habs teams have beaten the big, bad Bruins time and time again.
I don’t see your post as trolling. I see it as a good realistic perspective. Nothing like not getting too high after a win or too low after a loss.
Reminds me of going to see oldtimers games with greats like Sittler & Mahavolich where Eddie Shack was the ref. The puck would come around the boards & cross the line and he’d kick it back in and wave off the offside. Pretty funny back then but not now when we’re almost at that point for real.
Hey HH I can’t live up to those legends that you have named but I do want to point out that althought the road trip was a success ( just imagine if it wasn’t ) the competition wasn’t, lets face it, exactly top notch.
Thrashers, Panthers, Bolts. The only possibly good team there are the Bolts but with Vinny at 50%, Malone and Downy out and Stamkos in a slump the Bolts were half the team they can be and will be.
So yes lets celebrate a 4 game win streak especially at this time of the year and personally I think ( and its pretty obvious now ) that the Habs have turned the corner and their crappy performances are a thing of the past.
But..the Bruins are one of the best teams in the league. Lets not forget that. I think they will try to hurt us again, just like they did at the Beatdown in Boston. Sopel and Mara add some knuckles to the line up but will they up to the Bruins talented forward corps.?
I look forward to this upcoming game and very much hope that the Habs can win it but I think they’re gonna get spanked.
His upside is higher than even I thought, scoring at a 32 goal pace right now in his age 22 season. Always thought he had 25-30 goal upside, he might have a lot more.
Those f*cktards, especially Bergie, were complaining when Cunneyworth got hired. I wont watch that show anymore.
Cunneyworth is doing a way better job than Boucher because his players integrate seamlessly when called up. MaxPac and DD both excelled under Cunneyworth. What morons!!!
Gomez played a great game tonight, along with Price, Max, and boom boom Gill again. We are looking good, but those stupid penalties will do us in if we are not more disciplined.
Funny how DUMB JM is and how brilliant Boucher is, and last season people were bashing JM for using MAB so much. Nothing said now about Boucher giving MAB 5 PP min a game… And he is still a minus 3 despite his 3 even strength points, his 3 PP points, and his less than 10 even strength minutes…….ALL IN 9 GAMES…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
When the games start to really mean something, Hal Gill steps up his game. I used to think he was a complete stiff when he played for the laffs, but they would ruin anyones career. But since he’s been here, he has been a rock on defence.
I totally agree HH! tbay is on a bit of losing streak, philly’s goalie looks normal again, no crosby and malkin. That’s 3 teams we should pass to get 4th place, I think Bos is too hot to catch for first place, thats ok, let them finish first so buffalo in 8th can upset them!
Price baby! Where the hell would we be without him? Don’t even go there.
Not a bad team we’ve got here. Not a world dominating, knock yer socks off, top flight contender, mind you. But all in all not too shabby.
Scott Gomez: the man, the myth, the legend…makes an appearance and impresses. Not bad for a hasbeen, used to be, never was, maybe just might show up in time for the playoffs kind of guy. I can accept that for now.
Quite a game really. The Sparks didn’t really look all that into it. You’d think their coach, dubbed in many circles as the second coming of Toe Blake, would have had them up for the game. Fact is the kid’s too young, he has never won anything, the game has yet to pass him by, 88 points and 47%…NUF SAID
I know it has been said, but if the refs are going to make that interference call on Cammy consistently, there would 60 penalties a game. What a blatant attempt to make the game more exciting by trying to gift the Lite a goal. Then the icing on the cake, the Moen penalty. Unfreaking believable.
I use to watch Cherry in the 80′s more for laughs than anything else. That was before he acquired his air of self importance. Now I just turn the TV to mute when Coach’s Corner is on.
Positives — Carey Price; five-on-three penalty kill; Gomez’s set-up of Pax’s second goal (he also started the play that led to Max’s first goal);
Negatives — cheap penalty assessed Camillari; dumb penalty by Halpern; giveaway by Gill that resulted in TBay’s second goal; Bob Cole doing play-by-play (either he’s too far from the play to see what actually is happening or they’ve got his monitor showing another game entirely). Here’s a suggestion: CBC institute the seven-second delay, to give him time to make the correct call. Hmmm, make it 17 seconds)
Oh, yes, one more negative, Don Cherry (hey, I didn’t say this stuff would be news). Know what the dumbest thing in hockey is? The penalty for firing the puck over the glass by the defensive team. Not hitting from behind, not head shots, not engaging another player in a fight for having delivered a solid, legal hit.
And you know what it will take to persuade the NHL to adopt no-touch icing (which Cherry is right to champion)? Someone breaking their neck. Okay, Don, what will you say after someone breaks his neck in a fistfight or suffers a career-ending concussion from a swat to the head? Oh, right, that’s part of the game. If there wasn’t fighting, people could get hurt.
Just learned a little tidbit from LeBrun on ESPN.com that can counter obersver’s ranting lately about the Leafs andf their 20MM in cap next season: Reimer is an RFA after this season, not sure about arbitration rights, but he fully deserves a nice raise….so along with Schenn and MacArthur, how much will these three take up of that extra space? MacArthur is the tough one to gauge in terms of contract amount…
If he continues to play like this he’ll have similar numbers to AK’s prior pre-RFA season. That might put him around the $3M range for a 2 or 3 year deal. He’s a core guy to me; I’d try to lock him up for 4 year or more.
Wow, Eller just works his but off out there. This kid is gonna be scary good in after a couple seasons under his belt. Doesn’t hurt to have someone like Kirk teaching him.
So, like, can Gomez bring it when it’s on the line or what? Ditto for Carey and all Habs D; an excellent night against a contender pretender. TB is close to having it all, but their D and goalies are suspect. Habs did a great job of neutralizing the big guns, excepting 1 nice shot by Lecavalier.
SO, a little rest before Boston. Good, the Habs will be ready to go.
I thought that was great — Don showing the ESPN hype for the upcoming game. I’m all for a blood ‘n guts rivalry, & it’s great to see the Boston network ignoring the Bettman softness memo…
Can’t wait for tuesday night against the Booins. I’d dress Mara and White, but it doesn’t really matter. It will be the BIGGEST game of the year imo. Can the Habs overcome the physical game? That will be the key. Should be a dandy! Time for a victory libation, 3 wins on the southern road trip! Quite a feat! GO HABS GO!!!
this is how they have to play in the playoffs…halpern does not seem to fit into the plecks line but lets keep him there a little longer as he has scored in his career…we need an upgrade for pyatt…ak46 has to keep it going…now if pouliot could play better…i think this was a dominant win vs tampa ..shots on goal misleading…we just cannot have games like in atlanta…we won but really we played very poor….
Now that Boone has some real talent on his vids, i.e. his pooch and the statue, I have become quite the fan! Have to get a set of BU jerseys for both of them Mike!
That 5 on 3 given to the Bolt you just have to shake your head unbelievable. The NHL is walking on thin ice because calls like this opens the door for a investigation. It happen in the NBA and i know its happening in the NHL and this is proof.
OK, it’s obvious – Brent Sopol was the missing piece of the puzzle. The person that turned this team from merely average into a juggernaut the likes of which has not been seen since the ’70′s. That’s why PG didn’t make any more moves at the deadline – he knew he had the perfect team.
;p

The only interesting answers are those which destroy the questions. ~Susan Sontag
Carey Price has his 31st win of the season, three straight all against teams he didn’t have a W against this season. Ties temporarily for the league lead, albeit Jimmy Howard will likely get ahead tonight with 20 left in DET-PHX and the Wings holding a 4-1 lead.
i love this team so much. i feel good saying it too because i never get too low when we lose and i save all the energy to enjoy when we win. I cannot wait for the playoffs.
Some of the posters on here complain about Cammi or Gomez’ disposition and seemingly uncaring attitude after a loss. Well what’s your comment on Lecavalier? The guy is stoic and has no emotion. He just took the game-ending penality, and nothing. As if he is sleeping. Leader? I tihnk not.
So CBC does a special on Reimer, and devotes 3/4′s of Coach’s Corner to him. Just wondering when the Carey Price special is coming? I mean he’s Canadian, putting up great numbers. Guess I shouldn’t hold my breath right?
What impresses me the most right now is our play in our zone.
We’re doing a kind of Italian-Soccer play, where we pass the puck and keep posession rather than the traditional English-Soccer play of hoofing it out of the zone and hoping for the best.
Good stuff. Lots and lots of positives from this game.
The best part about the “Go Habs Go” chant is that it causes the Tampa fans to boo, making it seem like they’re booing their own team in their own building. Awesome.
Am I watching the CBC or the Tampa Bay Broadcasting Channel? Bob Cole calls every Hab gave from the perspective of the other team time and time again. That old fart needs to be put to pasture.
Hall may have dropped the gloves first, but Dorsett was chasing him all over the ice slashing at him first. Hall finally got fed up and dropped them, but that doesn’t mean he started it.
Cherry ranting about how Dorsett shouldn’t have scrapped with T Hall because he’s a rookie. Completely ignoring the fact that 1) he has no problem with ANYONE going after Subban and 2) Hall actually started the fight.
Where have all the playoffs gone? Long time passing Where have all the playoffs gone? Long time ago Where have all playoffs gone? Gone for the golf course every one When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?
Not sure when Vinny really earned respect as a leader, since he was completely dwarfed by Richards and St. Louis in their run to the cup. plus, his contract is longer than Gomez’s.
Same price, same term, I think most would take Vinny, but the extra years make his contract worse in my eyes.
He was showing Leino going in on a Leaf for icing and Leino clearly took the Leafs feet out as the go behind the net and DC says what a chicken shit… as CBC fades out… LOL
I usually can’t stand Cherry, but he’s dead-on talking about Gillies. That hit wasn’t worth a suspension, much less 10. Collin Campbell needs to be taken out behind the woodshed and shot like the blind dog he is.
Yup, it’s sad. Completely clean hit, 10 games. Cambell is the biggest joke ever. I’m throwing a pool party the day he retires or gets canned. Preferably the latter.
I think what bothers me the most is that so much gets made about PK being yappy on the ice or how he overcelebrated an overtime goal. Truth is yapping, trash talking, verbal jousting or whatever you want to call it goes on during pretty much every game regardless who is playing. The funny part of subban’s goal celebration is i saw grabovski and tim brent do pretty much the same thing about a week later and nothing was said about it. I wrote to tsn asking why there was no 3 day story bashing grabovski and brent about doing virtually the same thing. Of course i got no response.
People talk about Hal Gill being a good influence on PK. I think PK’s a good influence on the team. That enthusiasm he brings is contagious, it breeds confidence, and you can definitely see it in the team.
Carey’s always got that ‘aw shucks’ look on his face whenever PK mauls him after a game (good or bad), but it’s not that stonefaced look of indifference. It shows character and team building. There are a lot of good young players out there, they might even be better than him, but I don’t think they have as much of an effect on their team as PK does.
Some people think he is cocky, arrogant, etc etc. The fact is, though, that he takes criticism seriously and works extremely hard at his game and fitness level. He takes nothing for granted, and really has a right to be confident when he puts so much effort in. Picture AK46 with Subban’s confidence and drive. I don’t think I am pushing it to think that he is a 40 goal scorer almost every year.
PK is one of those special athletes that welcomes the limelight. I find that the more pressure you put on him, the better he gets. He’s made to play in Montreal, and I wouldn’t expect to see him in any other jersey for his entire career.
He has the raw talent to be among the best of the best, and he wants to go out and prove it. Too many players have talent and lack hunger, it’s something I’ll never doubt about PK.
well said. I hope Subban has a long and great career in a Montreal uniform. The Calder trophy means nothing next year or the next, but a hungry Subban does mean something!!
I actually hope PK does not win the Calder! In fact, i hope he doesn’t even get nominated! I want him to strive for more than what he has accomplished! We in Montreal know how important he is to our blueline, and i think that’s all that matters. He plays in all situations, and his scouting report about being a defensive liability is completely off! Yes, he has a few brain cramps once every few games, but his overall defensive game is impressive! In my opinion, he is the best defenceman on the team. He is strong on the boards, has good speed, and a very high ceiling in terms of offensive potential. The only issue with him is he has to find a way to cut down the penalties, but his high PIM’s an be attributed to him always having to defend himself.
I believe coming into this season one of PK’s personal goals was to probably to get nominated for the Calder, however, if not getting nominated means he comes back next year more hungrier, then I am all for it!
I actually have always wanted to know where boucher got that scar. he looks like he was playing with happy gilmore when he took his skate off and stabbed someone with it.
Sign of a player with quiet confidence he will score again and bigger ones in the future. I hate when players jump at the glass like it is the Stanley Cup winning goal in double overtime.
I wish the kid well. I really don’t hold a particular animosity towards the Leafs like many Habs fans do. I pity them more than anything. I don’t consider them a rival any more than I consider the Minnesota Wild to be a rival. If they get back to respectability I think it would be a good thing for the League. Remember when the Red Wings and more recently the Hawks were horrible for a good stretch? The NHL is better off when its Original Six–its most marketable and enduring franchises–are thriving on the ice.
“there was a deal in place last June to trade Lecavalier to the Montreal Canadiens for goalie Carey Price, center Tomas Plekanec and a prospect, but the deal was blocked by Bettman after Barrie refused to approve the deal. That caused a rift between Barrie and Koules that continued to fester and, combined with the financial problems both owners were having, put the Lightning in a state of flux.”
Someone should tell the Laffs fans that James Reimer no longet has a better GAA and SV% than Carey Price. Only takes one bad game with that few starts.
I’m sorry, I realy have a hard time believing that. Has that rumour ever been confirmed? By Gainey, Bettman, or anyone who was supposedly involved? I just don’t buy it.
Whatever. I like Cammy a lot and am happy he’s a Hab. He’s a gritty player for taking that puck off of his skate, doing what’s needed to win, coming back and re-assuring his team-mates. This whole team has so much character, unlike anything I’ve seen since Gainey was captain.
The pints (and remember its still early) are mostly attributed to a friends birthday celebration. I won’t be able to take sole credit when its all said and done.
I remember that one too. When I doing my search for the source on the Price/Plek/PK deal I came across that other nixed deal. The Tampa organization really has grown by leaps and bounds since they sold to Vinik.
I said it before, once players figure out his weaknesses, he will come back to earth. Happens to any goalie. He has to plug those to be deemed an elite goaltender that Laffs fans make him out to be.
I have to admit I was hardcore on the Vinny bandwagon. But never at that price! It is unbelievable Gainey was ready to make that deal. The pressure on Vinny would have been unworkable and I think he would have crumbled. Much like Pierre Turgeon did.
You beat me to it. Thanx. Also he was late getting going last year after coming back from his injury. In his 6 games back he has 2 goals and 2 assists. Too much what have you done for me lately on this site. The team is getting balanced scoring and winning.
I totally agree. He is a good player, not a great player. He had one great year, and one pretty good year, and just average after that. It would have been a disaster and I never wanted him.
I never have really understood why there was such a deep longing and affection for Lecavalier. Yeah, he’s got the name. He had the great junior career. He won a Cup in ’04. But Vinny in 2009 was a long, long way removed from Vinny in 2004 – even moreso now.
Stop the presses! Milbury speaks the truth. He said, “The only reason fighting is in the game is because we like it. It does nothing to police the game.”
Without moving up in the Draft, Habs are looking at either ‘safe’ or Boom/Bust prospects in the 2nd half of the first round. Names I’m looking at are still Nicklas Jensen, Tomas Jurco, Mika Zibenejad and Mark McNeill. McNeill is more safe, the first three are more high-risk but have some serious upside w/ development.
I remember that. I had a co-worker, French Canadian, huge Hab fan and we would argue. I would point out the negatives, the huge promise of what we were giving up, the mega salary we would be taking on for an average player who had ONE good year and his only response was “Yeah but it’s Vinny” It was Justin Beiber type love
So I did a bit of digging and when Hall Gill scores for his team, the combine record of the teams he was playing on is 23-1-4-2 (W-L-OTL-T).
This doesn’t include his first two seasons because the tracking system i was using didn’t go back far enough to accomodate his first 5 goals in his career.
My math could be off because i’m 7 pints into my night. Even still, pretty great record.
I haven’t counted tonights game in the stats. Too fearful off a jinx.
I know I harp a lot about how the Habs never get any top flight draft picks but I will acknowledge that this team is doing a remarkable job developing the players they do select. If they can continue this trend it bodes well for the next few seasons.
I still hope the Habs acquire better players in the early rounds and continue either trading for better picks or prospects that were chosen in the upper echelons.
For example Lats was converted to Pouliot and Halak was converted to Eller/Schultz. Those are moves I like seeing our team make.
Remember when the news broke that the Habs and Lightning had a deal in place to send Price, Pleks, and Subban to Tampa Bay for Lecavalier, but it was vetoed by Bettman since the two schmucks running the Lightning at the time couldn’t agree on whether to pull the trigger? I think we should send ole Gary a thank you card.
This is the difference in a well coach team and a team that sits back and prays for the goalie to win the game. Our coach is on the wrong bench . It will take a miracle to win this game Tampa is coming on and they will get a lot more powerplays.
Ok boys time to step up this is the playoffs and until the sesaon is over all games are big. Come on Blackhawks beat the snot out of the Leafs the Canadian ( Toronto ) media is making everyone sicker than the flu. Message to Pierre MaQuire if Burke stop short the only thing your going to see of Pierre is the soles of his shoes. McQuire is the biggest suck holes in all of professional sports.
Wow, that Reimer kid is terrible at rebound control. Should be interesting to see what kind’ve stats he has after playing over an 82 game sched. According to CBC he’s gonna be the next Luongo.
Is anyone else having trouble with the CBC.ca feed? For some reason it keeps saying “This program will begin shortly” but I thought it started at 7 PM.
He should have listed Phoenix and Carolina as well, as charter members of the WHA merger. God I hate that smug prick. I’m going to Parliament Hill on July 1 just to boo him.
Gotta love that even when CBC isn’t showing the game outside of Quebec they still insist on delaying the start so that everybody flips over to Coach’s Corner.
Best Hockey Night In Toronto comment of the night: Red Deer Ronnie at the end of Peter Puck….
Did you know that Colorado joined the NHL from the WHA along with Edmonton? I guess the Quebec-phobic MacLean blanked out on the entire Nordiques history? What an idiot. Canadians pay this clown and Don Cherry fart catcher hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to irritate rational hockey fans to no end and he can’t even get this simple fact correct? God CBC sucks.
Cox has a predisposition to be against the Habs, he’s a Leafs fan as much as he pretends to be an unbiased journalist. If you look at the overall numbers between Carlson and Subban for the season they look very similar with Carlson perhaps getting a slight edge. However if you look at the numbers since January 1st, Subban dwarfs Carlson in every way. Like many poor journalists, Cox is looking at a stats bar on NHL.com to choose who’s best, without looking at context or watching the games. Same reason he completely ignored Michael Grabner when he’s been the rookie who’s produced most of his points on his own as opposed to Skinner and Couture who get to piggy back off of elite veterans.
carlson is a good d amn, but would you trade Subban staight up for him?? I know I wouldn’t. You’re right about Subban’s role with the team. He plays in every situation and is literally the go to guy on the Habs Blue line. Damien “Cocks” is nothing but a contrarian to popular opinions. He is always nagative in a smug way, and really never says anything ground breaking or even accurate. The only reason people tune in to what he says, is that it is usually the opposite of what smarter people say.
Can’t take anything away from carlson, but I think they are close for the most part.
Damien Cox just tweeted he’d place PK “well below” John Carlson in the Calder race…..
Even trying to step back as a neutral observer, am I wrong to say it’s completely absurd? It’s the “WELL below” part that really bewilders me. Carlson’s +/- is 18 points higher, has way more blocked shots and 3 GWG, but Subban has more points (even-strength AND power-play), more hits, and is relied upon to play in every kind of situation in the absence of top-minute veterans like Markov and Gorges
I like having Gill against Vinny. Vinny ain’t as fast as he used to be, and having Gill on the ice prevents him from getting so cheap after the whistle.
I love weird video. Keep up the good work Mike and continue to explore your artistic side. So far the lighting effects, Bell Centre sound quality and puppeteering displays put you squarely in the depths of the dystopian film genre.
The lightning have some fire power, for sure, but they have actually gave up more goals than they scored, which is odd for a team that high in the standings. Also, if the habs win tonight in regulation, they will only be two points back of Tampa. Funny how the Canadiens are going to be such a long shot this year to make any noise and how they have a weak team, yet they are six points out of decond in the conference..
I think Boston is a tough team, but Julien doesn’t have a great track record of making adjustments during a series. He is a good coach, but a little slow to react to changes in oppositions style of play. Philly is a tough team, but really only tough against the small habs. Tjey haven’t been lighting it up recently, and you have to think that if a hot Ward, or gof forbid, a rejuvenated Devils faces them, they will be in tough.
The habs are no favorites, but depending on how the first round goes, they may have as much of a chance as Pitts, Wash, TB etc to make some noise. I think tonight and Tuesday will really be a measuring stick, and I think after Tuesday, maybe these boys will get a little more credit
Glencross and Bourque are a big part of Calgary’s success this year and it’s because they go to the net. Patches has been doing that a lot with success. It’s not rocket science. Man I wish we could have picked up Chris Stewart at the deadline.
Weren’t exactly nice goals either. Hawks are not what they were last year, but Toews being the top player in February league-wide has got his team in gear. Great player, great leader.
Yep, just pressure him a little and the Habs will be up by 18 goals in the first period.
***Subbang!!!***
You can count me as one of those then, What do you expect that Gomez would do?
Win a face off? Not likely. Score a goal ? Not Likely. Make a big hit? Not likely. Superb D zone coverage? Not likely. Tell me exactly what you think he would bring to that situation?
I would love to see him win the Conn Smythe, as well.
I just think that he is our Superstar & shouid be recognized as such.
He plays, argueably, the most difficult position in Hockey in the most difficult market to play it in.
He scores 20 goals so now he don’t need to score anymore?
Yiiiiikes.
I’d rather see Price get the Conn Smythe
.
yes enough with the halpern charade.
pouliot is a bonafide top 6, put him up there with pleks/cammy and let him stay for a week!!
it takes more than 1 period and 1 bad penalty to find chemistry! c’mon jacques, loosen the reins.
He doesn’t have the flowing locks. He’s a Breeze Wannabe.
***Subbang!!!***
Better watch out tonight. MAB has threatened to go “Full Breezer” on the Habs!
The newest member of the Vienna Boys Choir
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
You have the 1st two sentences correct
You forgot the body of Adonis!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
I am looking forward to reading Bertrand Raymond’s article tomorrow bemoaning how the Habs could’ve had MAB instead of WIZ.
One or two?
Another real value is the experience particularly for those who have never been there but also for the team as a whole.
***Subbang!!!***
Bertrand Raymond……..WTF????????
So Buffalo wins. That won’t help the laffs. Long live the curse!
My bad, you’re right, I forgot he only got an assist against T.O.
The MAB show. You kill me man. ha ha ha ha ha
….Hab4life….
I will be wearing my vintage MAB jersey tonight.
Pleks has got 1 goal & 3 assits in his last 9 games
Everybody sit back and watch the MAB show tonight. I don’t wnat to be the Habs tonight. MAB is back and he is back with the vengence.
And you have to love those Kung Fu “ish” tattoos on the fore arms.
He would need 4 or 5 more SO’s just to get a sniff at the Vezina and then they might give him a look for the Hart.
….Hab4life….
MAB……WTF?????
Care to share which of my points were incorrect?
I don’t want to argue with you or anyone else
We all have different opinions. WE have the players to win a Stanley Cup BUT they are not consistant.
what time zit start ?
Ooh Aah Habs on the war path
None were incorrect.
LOL
If it weren’t for the Breezer I’d probably spend my life going Full MAB. But as it is, I accept no substitute! There is only one way to life life!
Full Breezer 4 Life
Looking forward to the Kukla, Mike and Ollie show.
Habs have to send a message early and CONTAIN M. F. St.Louis/Stamkos. If they don’t, I feel the HIO boards will gutter in short order.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
He’s just a garden gnome on skates!
Yep, the Bruin fan on my hockey team also fears the Habs. Interesting!
Mike’s panther-like physique!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I don’t mind aloss if its a tough fight but larry ak moe can make a diffrence go habs go.

———————————————————————— “Young people have seen that a team can play electrifying, fascinating hockey while still behaving like gentlemen.” ~Serge Savard~
I was thinking the same thing! I think Halpern can do what Pouliot does on the 4th line and Poulioy would fit better with Cammy and Pleks
LOL – thanks for that. Although now I feel guilty laughing. That must have hurt…
If Andrei = Kurly ∴ Gomez = Shemp?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
So There.
The almighty flyers have now lost 3 in a row.
Including to the Leaves. Every team goes through rough patches – every team. The key is to get it over with before March/April. Winning in the playoffs has a lot to do with getting hot at the right time.
Mara comes back here & he is an healhty scratch. WTF? Weber should be sent back down, he doesn’t belong with the big boys.
Pic test.
Wewt! it works!
Pouliot has all the tools. But he is missing some hockey sense. He is not a bona fide Top-6. He looks like one even less frequently then AndreiK. Yet, doesn’t get bashed on…
agreed. i’m still hoping for the presidents trophy!
This team needs D with size …
Gomez bashing is so Halak/Price circa 2010.
Almost all stop believing in Price in 2010.
I really hope MAB plays tonight.
Weber belongs in the NHL, no doubt about it. but getting 2 Right handed D via trades + Subban, he is the 4th RD in the depth charts.
As long as he doesn’t lose confidence playing on the Left side, he can finish the season there. With a rotation with Mara/Picard as the 7th-8th D.
But comes playoff times, with Spacek back, he is the man out.
Gill-Subbam
Harmlik-Wiz
Spacek-Sopel
That 3rd line is a little slow, but they should do fine in the playoffs.
It’s hard to see where he fits in next year. But I do agree on something about him that I liked this year: his fights; and that one punch on Kreji!
Still, takes too many mental mistakes in a game for my taste. And the falling down part is so surprising for a player of his caliber.
I don’t think there is much more upside in him then what we saw. And I would take AndreiK before him in a heartbeat.
Boone has a face made for radio and voice made for journalism.
Right now who would be the odds on favorites for the Cup ?
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
I think it’s safe to say we’ll be playing either Tampa, or Boston in round one. Personally I would rather play Boston in the first round instead of meeting them later when the grind of the playoffs has taken a toll on the habs bodies.
i grant you that, he is missing some sense.
however, given a week of playing time, what line would produce more points?
pleks/cammy/pouliot? (the PCP line)
or
pleks/cammy/halpern? (the chronological line)
halpern needs to be on the 3rd or 4th, checking and winning faceoffs, what he’s done and been successful at his whole career.
i just don’t get why jacques thinks he can transform career checkers into 1st line scoring threats, just by switching lines. when has it ever worked?
I am with you. My post comes out of boredom and annoyance with the constant bashing.
I like both Desharnais and Eller alot, but as you were alluding to, look at this way…
Game 7 of a playoff series, late in a close game… who do you want on the ice? Gomez or one of those two? Anyone who says Eller or Desharnais is a liar or just foolish.
I disagree, Weber is the future here not Mara. I like Mara and he’s been good physically since he came back, but Weber *should* be the one playing more games. Sopel, Mara and Picard are switchable.
A lot of foolish people around here.
Weber doesn’t play soft. He plays bigger then his size.
I have no issue with his size.
***Subbang!!!***
I still have doubts on Vancouver. SJ is very impressive but we all know their history.
I want to lay some $$ down, at 35 to 1 Calgary, seems interesting.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
He is going to be having nightmares of Price’s poke check

Yeah, dreams of him and P.K. on the baby Habs, then he woke up…. and was a Bolt.
“The sh*t is CHESS!NOT CHECKERS.” Denzel W.(Training Day)
Poor Stamkos….hehe
If my math is correct (not even close to a sure thing) Pac-man would be on pace for a 30 goal season if he had 82 games. A big body 30 goal scorer? Ya that works. SO glad e’s turned into the player he is.
Bob Cole is funny. But he doesn’t mean to be. Is he watching the game on a 15 second delay?
Regardless of if he got out or not, it wasn’t an intentional offside.
i agree, i just figured jm would banish him , glad to see him still out there
The way he’s scoring his goals — by piling up shots rather than high shooting percentage — tends to indicate it’s the kind of thing he can reproduce on a long period, unlike rookies who get lucky and score 8 goals on their first 40 shots or so.
That means he could easily be looking at 25, 30 goals next year, more if he’s lucky.
Not only that, but he did get onside before touching the puck.
The Adjustment Bureau.
Matt Damon is usually a good bet. A little action with some romance thrown in. A perfect date movie.
Scarface looks pissed.
Terrible call on the offside. Patches clearly got onside.
Maybe Martin has a BS detector (when it comes to questionable officiating). We on Habs I/O can’t be the only ones!
It’s 4-1, but Martin is still the worst coach in the known universe. He ruined Pacioretty.
And JM is giving Eller a shift after 2 penalties… am I seeing this?
Touche’
I wonder if MaxPac can hit 20 goals?
MabWHEREDHEGO?!
Knew you’d approve.
Which movie?
***Subbang!!!***
Max Pac having a hell of a game. Be nice to see him get the hatty!
I shoulda married Cassie Campbell. I’d be in Florida right now.
One of them was not a legit penalty, the other one borderline.
Another ludicrous call. Pac wasn’t trying to go offside, he was trying to STAY ONSIDE.
Walsh is an awful, awful ref.
He has been an NHL ref since 2000-2001.
He has done 5 playoff games.
‘Nuff said.

GO HABS GO!
Nice rush by Gomez.. yes, I said it.
OLE – U Muthas
Once again, joke refereeing.
…and 4327 HI/O members scramble for a google dictionary search…
***Subbang!!!***
Yes, but to be fair that is because the remaining officials are of such high quality….NOT!
great input.
thanks.
MabBOING!
Beneath me, TX…beneath me.
***Subbang!!!***
Eggrigus? Egrejesus? What?
The NHL is without a doubt, a Bush League.
Lol, Price just snagging that like it was nuthin.
He grabbed that puck like I shot it!
Such pettiness is below you Punkster.
Nice poke check Pricey.
What a poke check!!!
Killed!
Go Habs Go!
Justice is served. That call on Moen was egregious.
MASSIVE KILL
HABS PK AND CAREY PRICE
BOTH UNBELIEVEABLE!
Reminds me of going to see oldtimers games with greats like Sittler & Mahavolich where Eddie Shack was the ref. The puck would come around the boards & cross the line and he’d kick it back in and wave off the offside. Pretty funny back then but not now when we’re almost at that point for real.
that is so awesome they just killed off both of those, this team is looking very good.

“They’ve made a horror movie of Little Red Riding Hood? This is a great time to be alive”
- Ha! Man I tune in here just to read Mr Boone’s comments.
WOW WOW WOW
Patches the cat!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Beauty!!!
CAMMY! YOU SEE THAT. DO THAT, YES THAT.
PACIORETTY!
Hey Max, U can’t steal cammy’s move
Nope. Made of plaster.
Max-Pac is scoring on a 32 goal pace. He’ll still be 22 at the start of next season. Nice to have a big body that can score.
How about “not take dumb penalties”?
What a shot!! It all strated with good D by Gill.
Max Cammioretty! Again with the knee-drop special!
Why was Roloson cheating like Gomez was going to shot there? Newsflash: Gomez doesn’t shoot.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
I LOVE GOMEZ
Ahh this is nice. Reimer lets in 5, and I won’t hear people crap on Gomez for a couple days. I was sick of both topics.
MaxPac with a pair, and I left him on the bench on one of my fantasy teams. Doh!
Time to bag & tag the Bolts…Dare I say?
“The sh*t is CHESS!NOT CHECKERS.” Denzel W.(Training Day)
Pacioretty again! You have to love that burst of speed coupled with the heavy shot, he’s a dynamic threat.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
What, no JM bash tonight?
***Subbang!!!***
Gomez heating up for the stretch run
Max with a nice pair tonight. He had a sore pair on Thursday
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Weak call.
Another weak-ass call.
Go Habs Go!
Bah, c’mon!
We said no early penalties!
That call on Cammalleri was beyond contempt….
Weak ass call, of course. Can’t let Yzerman’s dream team lose this game. What a load of horse crap this is.
That’s abit harsh
OMG
No idea where that call comes from?
haha…now they call another one?
These refs are useless!
***Subbang!!!***
JOKE!
WTF was that!!!!!! They just missed a pick on Moen in the neutral zone.
Just pull Price and let Tampa get two PP goals into the empty net.
His upside is higher than even I thought, scoring at a 32 goal pace right now in his age 22 season. Always thought he had 25-30 goal upside, he might have a lot more.
Boy, Wayne Fleming has wintered well. Must have been all that Russian cuisine over the last few years.
Mabbang!
Edit: Maboom!
***Subbang!!!***
Boone, hollywood has run out of ideas.
He must have a new girlfriend. Hippy, lovey type
Just for kicks: Gill has the same amount of goals in his last two games as Gomez does in his last 30.
Lets get er done boys & Gomer
For the 3rd:
Stay out of the Sin Bin
Don’t sit back on a 2 goal lead
Stay out of the Sin Bin
Subban, what a beast. Needs 1 more point to get his 30th point of the season!
Markov in his rookie season (he was 2 years older) had 23 points in as many games.
TAKE THAT – Subban haters.
HOLY CRAP!, Milbury speaking out against fighting, has hell frozen over??
Those f*cktards, especially Bergie, were complaining when Cunneyworth got hired. I wont watch that show anymore.
Cunneyworth is doing a way better job than Boucher because his players integrate seamlessly when called up. MaxPac and DD both excelled under Cunneyworth. What morons!!!
Especially in the playoffs, the guy was awesome in the last run.
Milbury, who would of thought
I enjoyed “mabbed the bed.”
Considering his best “fight” consisted of using his shoe to beat on someone, I don’t see him as all that tough to begin with.
The Mabinator. A legend.
Boone: “Canadiens 23-1-4 when leading after two. “
Guess who one of those 4 non-regulation losses is to?

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

Max the Monster
Gomez played a great game tonight, along with Price, Max, and boom boom Gill again. We are looking good, but those stupid penalties will do us in if we are not more disciplined.
Boston better bring its A game!!
Classic.
Classic.
The first time Bergeron mabbed the bed, I was all yeah, ok, he’s still at it.
But the second mabbin’? The here-take-the-puck-sir? I hit the floor.
Worth the price of admission.
LOL. That entire shift was DOMINATED by the Bolts, and we take it the other way and score. Ouch.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! 4-1!!!! Gill, Gomer and Max Pac!!!
Gomez!
Picture perfect pass!
***Subbang!!!***
“Gomez-haters pretty quiet tonight?”
why talk about someone not worth talking about?
Ohhhh Nellie!
When the games start to really mean something, Hal Gill steps up his game. I used to think he was a complete stiff when he played for the laffs, but they would ruin anyones career. But since he’s been here, he has been a rock on defence.
I love Patches. He is f-in awesome.
Game over!
No way they score 5 on Price.
Still time to make it to the movies awesome.
That was beautiful, just plain pretty.

I like that nick name. The cat came back. They should start singing that song at the Bell whenever he scores.
Weber can’t do a damn thing back there
l’Antichambre suggests we should give thanks to Guy Boucher for how DD & Patches are playing now!
WTF??????????????
They coudn’t make it last year… no confidence.
This year, with Cunneyworth (tough ex-NHLer) at the helm, a whole different attitude.
Cole called the last goal a lucky break… c’mon Bob.
For F sakes Mike
I think the same ref has made all the calls against us.
RFA How much will he cost? Does PG lock him up long term?
I totally agree HH! tbay is on a bit of losing streak, philly’s goalie looks normal again, no crosby and malkin. That’s 3 teams we should pass to get 4th place, I think Bos is too hot to catch for first place, thats ok, let them finish first so buffalo in 8th can upset them!
WHAT KIND OF A B.S. CALL IS THAT??
It’s your dog
Another BS call, what else is new

That SOB speared Pleks at centre ice last season
That is a weak call, that happens on virtually every faceoff
Ah, the refs will do their best.
Refs doing what they can
Lame. Total BS. They are trying very hard to get TB back into the game.
*sigh*
Go Habs Go!
The fix is in.
And the refs suddenly decide it’s not a close enough game.
That’s a pretty weak call.
Bits and pieces from tonight:
***Subbang!!!***
Price. SPECTACULAR.
P R I C E
What a pokecheck!
CAREY CAREY CAREY!
I have to watch it. Doctor’s orders. I have low blood pressure.
Johnny Bower
I know it has been said, but if the refs are going to make that interference call on Cammy consistently, there would 60 penalties a game. What a blatant attempt to make the game more exciting by trying to gift the Lite a goal. Then the icing on the cake, the Moen penalty. Unfreaking believable.
Habs Win!
Nice poke check Carey wow
3-1 W against ATL, 4-0 against FLA, and now up 4-1 against TB. Winning by more than one goal, who is this team!!?
JM says he thought he was looking at Bobby Orr when he watched Hal Skill play tonight
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I’ll crap on him right now. Does one OK game make up for a season of floating and apathy? Not to me.

What a kill!!!
I use to watch Cherry in the 80′s more for laughs than anything else. That was before he acquired his air of self importance. Now I just turn the TV to mute when Coach’s Corner is on.
It almost sounds like the Bell Centre there.
OK – I have to ask. Is that a stuffed dog?
Well said!
I stand corrected. Carey was very poignant and honest in that interview. The kids got character.
We have the best penalty killer in the league!
Will this do (from other thread)?
Positives — Carey Price; five-on-three penalty kill; Gomez’s set-up of Pax’s second goal (he also started the play that led to Max’s first goal);
Great work on the 5-on-3!
Vinny L. does not like to work.
Don’t know if it’s his head or his body, but he’s often on the half-effort.
Revenge is sweet.
OOhh Pleks and Price.. this team’s so collected
Coming together to send a message.

Did you not notice the winky face with the tongue sticking out?

Now this is a F. statement game by the Habs so far!
We have an upgrade for Pyatt in Hamilton – Nigel Dawes
Stamkos having a nightmare.
Whether you’re talking about Hal Gill or Carey Price – you’re right!
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Price was just a beatin on the Boolt player on the PP there. LOVE IT
Habs have top 5 over-all in their sights now. I know it means keeping the win streak alive but it’s very doable.
Wow does a winning a few in a row ever work wonders.
Lovely poke check by Carey, coolest character amongst goaltenders in the NHL.
And Pleks deserves some serious Selke attention.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
That’s the term!
***Subbang!!!***
If he continues to play like this he’ll have similar numbers to AK’s prior pre-RFA season. That might put him around the $3M range for a 2 or 3 year deal. He’s a core guy to me; I’d try to lock him up for 4 year or more.
vinny is a dirty dirty player, maybe only against the habs cos thats the only time i see him.
anyone see him spearing moen in the junk? cbc wouldnt show the replay
That would be awesome. In half a year too
NO NO NO, Not PK now
Walk it off Pernell… we needs yeah.
Pens 2 Broons 1
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
what do you expect pouliot to do with 4th line minutes and 4th line mates?
hehe for sure. Good for the little weasel
haha, couldn’t agree more.
the perfect puzzle piece. dirtstache Sopel/
Wow, Eller just works his but off out there. This kid is gonna be scary good in after a couple seasons under his belt. Doesn’t hurt to have someone like Kirk teaching him.
i’ve imbibed enough Stella that even the ugly ones are lookin good.
ooo good call. i missed that.
to be honest, with the week carey had, he could take #1. i hope he does, obviously.
Think they’re trying to get MaxPax the hatty?
So, like, can Gomez bring it when it’s on the line or what? Ditto for Carey and all Habs D; an excellent night against a contender pretender. TB is close to having it all, but their D and goalies are suspect. Habs did a great job of neutralizing the big guns, excepting 1 nice shot by Lecavalier.
SO, a little rest before Boston. Good, the Habs will be ready to go.
Tied 2-2
Yeah but he’s no Desharnais.
I thought that was great — Don showing the ESPN hype for the upcoming game. I’m all for a blood ‘n guts rivalry, & it’s great to see the Boston network ignoring the Bettman softness memo…
PK was a perfect classy gentleman there
Don’t let up now.
Crap.
Suck my bum Vinny
this is how they have to play in the playoffs…halpern does not seem to fit into the plecks line but lets keep him there a little longer as he has scored in his career…we need an upgrade for pyatt…ak46 has to keep it going…now if pouliot could play better…i think this was a dominant win vs tampa ..shots on goal misleading…we just cannot have games like in atlanta…we won but really we played very poor….
How was there not either an Goalie interference or a spearing call there? Refs totally blowing it tonight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYzA0oG17gQ ?
Messy.
Its gotta go to Toews. Towes has 5 goals, 2 assists, +5 this week in 5 games.
Eller go in his face
Didn’t quite catch that last word Boone said in his vid. Something about his dog going to bite Boston right in the b—-
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Those Sasknuckle sandwiches are not very tasty….
That’s why I said for “an” NHL star. Probably second or third with the week Toews had.
Now that Boone has some real talent on his vids, i.e. his pooch and the statue, I have become quite the fan! Have to get a set of BU jerseys for both of them Mike!
The Refs blow every night Jim
That 5 on 3 given to the Bolt you just have to shake your head unbelievable. The NHL is walking on thin ice because calls like this opens the door for a investigation. It happen in the NBA and i know its happening in the NHL and this is proof.
They’re good, but they also have the inordinate ability to play worse than their opponents and still win.
OK, it’s obvious – Brent Sopol was the missing piece of the puzzle. The person that turned this team from merely average into a juggernaut the likes of which has not been seen since the ’70′s. That’s why PG didn’t make any more moves at the deadline – he knew he had the perfect team.
;p

HOW DID THAT HOOK GO UNCALLED!?!?!?
DD on pace for a 24 goal season, Pacioretty 28 goals. Amazing.
Carey Price has his 31st win of the season, three straight all against teams he didn’t have a W against this season. Ties temporarily for the league lead, albeit Jimmy Howard will likely get ahead tonight with 20 left in DET-PHX and the Wings holding a 4-1 lead.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Cherry: “Kids! Kids! Chickensh*t!”
Hope so . . . .
Thanks Mike… see ya Tuesday mate.
Price in the ZONE toootally.
Price Patches Skillsie 3 Stars
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
At least you don’t get paid by our national broadcaster to know that kind of thing…
I’m 3-0 wearing my new Carey Price watch
We have to be the worst team at scoring on empty nets in the NHL.
Yup – some stellar netminding there.

NOW the refs call a penalty? What BS!
Wow, you’re hot. Wanna go for some beers somewhere?
Oh FAH-Q ref, where was the call on the hook before?
The Habs are 4-0 in the Sopel era.
wow, does anyone have some bs for sale? his stick was on the ice.
SO, Auld for Tuesday?
I HATE THE NHL!!!!!
You know it’s a great Florida trip when Hal Gill matches the total offense of the Florida Teams.
Justice.
Maybe the best game by Gomez this year.
GO HABS GO!
WHERE IS THE BLOOD ON VINNIE??????????
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Easy-breezy there…all that optimism can lead to heart failure.
Too soon for that noise.
“The sh*t is CHESS!NOT CHECKERS.” Denzel W.(Training Day)
win far more important than hattrick for Pac
Bob Cole really has know clue what’s going on.
I GUESS OBSERVER WONT BE AROUND FOR A WHILE…….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Bob Cole can’t even see an obvious call anymore. What a loser. Just retire.
I was thinking that but couldn’t come up with the #’s
43 saves for Price – WOW!
Pens 3 Broons 2 Final!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The damn officials are persistant in trying to hose us…A 4 min PP for TB with 46 seconds left…unreal!!
Bob Cole is a national treasure. Unfortunately, he devalues his legacy with every game he calls, in his dotage. Retire, Bob!
Difference? Vinny doesn’t play for the Habs so I don’t care.
Florida is an AHL club. Tampa Bay, however, is very much not an AHL club.
2 points behind Tampa, one win seperates us, and Tampa has had all of their best players almost the entire season…………
AND PEOPLE SAY JM SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED TO MAKE WAY FOR BOUCHER………..
What are some people thinking?????
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
+1
Because up until this point, MaxPac has really proven himself as one of the top penalty killing forwards….
Gomez gearing up for the playoffs
PG looks pretty good (for now) for not doing anything at the deadline.
CBC nightmare. Leafs lose – Habs win.
Awesome,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
JM waits till the goalie gets back in the net before he puts MaxPac on for a hatty … what an ahole
i love this team so much. i feel good saying it too because i never get too low when we lose and i save all the energy to enjoy when we win. I cannot wait for the playoffs.
Florida sweep! Good job les Boys.
To be fair, they just got MAB. He’s a real game-changer.
Carey Price for an NHL star of the week?
3-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .966 sv. %, and 1 SO.
They’re actually wrong. It’s a .974 sv %, 113 saves on 116 shots.
It must really suck to play at home in front of a ful house, and then find out 3/4 of them are rooting for the visting team.
The ice girls double as fluffers.
Very true
Some of the posters on here complain about Cammi or Gomez’ disposition and seemingly uncaring attitude after a loss. Well what’s your comment on Lecavalier? The guy is stoic and has no emotion. He just took the game-ending penality, and nothing. As if he is sleeping. Leader? I tihnk not.
Far better than a 4-minute TB PP with 4 minutes left! (Just seeing the glass as half-full.)
Habs with 3 road wins in a row by more than one goal!
Habs lead series 1-0
absolutely.
omg i love it, ole tampa, ole.
So Gomez had a great game. The Habs are on a 4 game winning streak. WTF are we gonna bitch about?
C’mon people. There’s gotta be somebody with an axe to grind. Jeff? Observer? Gerry from the West Island? TripleX? ManApart? Somebody?
HIO needs hits!!!!!
And Halpern in the box. WOW, WTF ARE YOU THINKIN REFS….??????????????
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
CBC horseshit! Cherry hype for Tuesday’s game… pinheads. We are going to F@ckin’ hammer those shmucks on Tuesday night.
Vezina and Hart!
Maybe it has somethin’ to do w/ Boone’s hand puppet. Resemblance?
Cole thought that was icing?
We still have Don Cherry and the rest of the CBC crew…

Like I said, Bob Cole is funny.
Selective observer is he?
So CBC does a special on Reimer, and devotes 3/4′s of Coach’s Corner to him. Just wondering when the Carey Price special is coming? I mean he’s Canadian, putting up great numbers. Guess I shouldn’t hold my breath right?
“Timeout Canadiens. So Gill and Subban get a blow?”
Wait, whut?
We struggle with the empty net
Heartrate;back to normal…
BS. Total BS. Goddam selective reffing.
Double-edged sword – we get to ice the puck.
We’re looking confident. I like.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
He makes it look easy, doesn’t he?
Well I hope fans know now that Gomez is a play maker.
I know he should have turned down the 8 big ones like the bashers would have.
Great team efford
lol refs wouldnt give habs the game on obvious penalty
I hope we only use Weber sparingly come playoffs.
I thought it was Pou…
Two-goal gap, vs. three, increases MaxPac’s chance of a hat trick, anyway…
They have to wait for those large, noisy crowds like in Atlanta to settle down.
Price for the empty-netter?
Cole is an idiot. Pacioretty is on the Gomez line not Pouliot.
Bruins lose in OT.
Gill’s only bad play tonight ends up in the net. Unfortunate
Why does it take half an hour to announce a goal in a US rink?
Would be nice to see the rest of the game NOT spent in our zone
Knock him on his ass Skillsie!
Lucky goal. Lock down please….
Off Moen’s skate right to Vinny – and a great shot.
Moen looks like he’s about ready to feed someone a Saskatchewan knuckle sandwich.
Oh they will get another powerplay.
YESS MOEN! Took the other player’s stick and threw it away haha
and yes Carey! tripped Stamkos haha
I think you should stop the numbers game. The Bruins are a good team, as much as it pains me to say it.
Should be a great game on Tuesday.
Damnit!
Vinnie’s just practicing his golf swing.
Goalie interference much??

I never got a headache watching Gomez tonight!
Nice clearing by Soap.
Matt Cooke ruins the win for Pittsburgh. OT in BOSTON…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
FFS, the Bruins manage to tie it with 0:18 to go. That team’s continued good fortune is infuriating.
Okay, Gomez can take therapy days for the rest of reg. season, anyone disagree?
You’re Habsolutely right! Eller’s something special.
Sucker Punch? Tight blonde Ninja cuties in pigtails kick butt on Titan. Great time to be alive.
They’re trying hard to get Patches his hat trick.
That’s a fine lookin Cheerleader there ….
Saywhattothewhotherenow?!?!
Wait for the 2nd period once Boucher rips into them.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
This slopfest is the team everyone’s supposed to be afraid of? Doesn’t look like the product of ‘genius’ coaching… at all.
Nice feed by AK- maybe he’s relieved not to have been moved.
Andrei and DD… who would have thought. Great goal!
One more and Rollie gets the hook.
Meet the Tampa Bay F___stcks.
Beauty – DD on a nice pass by AK. If we keep getting all this secondary scoring, we’ll be hard to play against in the playoffs.
Hence, it was totally lost on me.
What HANDS by Desharnais!!
I knew tonight was going to be a slick one. JM has an extra coating of axel grease in his hair…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The best part of the CBC games? The promos for shows we’ve never watched.
Eller’s been doing good on the faceoffs
elll ohhh ellll babay
Hawks 2 Laffs 0
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Hal Gill could revive the chat of “Gil-berg!” from Habs fans. WWE fans will understand that one.

get in the bawx meat stick
DD! Pretty move. Proving the naysayers wrong, again!
AK46 continues his strong play.
SO FILTHY!
DD!!! What a goal!!!
Oui, oui, oui! Wee DD!!!!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Nice hands by DD and very good pass by AK.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
now if pyatt scores 2 goals in 2 games than 2012 is here
Too early. Careful.
My only concern is Hal Gill peaking too early before the playoffs
WHAT A GOAL!
Sweet. Mats Naslund Jr. with the goal.
Lovely!!!!!!!
BOOYAAA!! Beauty!
Need another one. Just too many bad memories against these guys to feel confident yet
Man O man. I stepped out to run an errand and was worried I was going to come back to a 2-0 deficit, Surprise surprise.
The dreaded 2-0 lead. C’mon lads. Keep’em coming!!!!
Habs are flying!
The best part about the “Go Habs Go” chant is that it causes the Tampa fans to boo, making it seem like they’re booing their own team in their own building. Awesome.
Rollie took his Geritrol?
We should be going for the jugular here… missin’ golden opportunities.
What song is that?? The one with the guitar playing in the background?! :O
Lightning players moving a little slower since acquisition of MAB. That honker of his is sucking up most of the oxygen on their bench.
Leafs down 3-0 in the first. Is their annual late-season mini-streak that gets the fans excited over?
Sweet Child Of Mine – Guns N’ Poses
Things not so good for our friends in Toronto tonight
Sure!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
MAB isn’t playing tonight.
Am I watching the CBC or the Tampa Bay Broadcasting Channel? Bob Cole calls every Hab gave from the perspective of the other team time and time again. That old fart needs to be put to pasture.
Sopel had to hop a train to catch that drop pass.
Yes he is.
Stamkos with the dive.
MAB with his patented pass in the other guy’s skates.
not a great night by eller tonight
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
LOL. Now THAT was embellishment.
Price was solid. Good period all around
Any word from Timo over the MAB sighting?
That penalty was a complete dive.
Forget the goals…Gill is playing like a star. So underrated
Did Don Cherry just diss Ron hahahhahahaha
Where have all the Leafers gone?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
He is…with all of 2:00 TOI. I stand corrected.
Well, so much for Tampa Bay’s amazing defense.
And was that MAB on the point? Timo must be feeling bad seeing him in a Bolts jersey.
St. Louis falling since what event happened?
Oh yeah…since Halak was injured. I think he was doing well there, keeping them in it – despite not great numbers, because his team sucks.
Not that I miss him, but just pointing it out.

“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
Okay. Time for Monster CHiller Horror Theater with Count Boone
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Hall may have dropped the gloves first, but Dorsett was chasing him all over the ice slashing at him first. Hall finally got fed up and dropped them, but that doesn’t mean he started it.
Habs need to pour it on more in the 2nd, give Price a nice fat cushion.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Well done!
Gotta be better than ACTUALLY wathing TB broadcasting, or “SunSports” as its called. Im blessed with US Center Ice.
Pittsburgh are the fight leaders in the NHL. No surprise then that there’s been two fights in the 1st period of their match against the Boston Goons.
Holy crap how the mighty have fallen.
St. Louis is looking like the might be in the lottery.
Philly just suffered it’s 3rd loss in a row.
Reimer coming back to earth.
Gone for draft picks every one, when will they ever learn, oh when will they ever learn (opologies to Pete Seeger)
Cherry ranting about how Dorsett shouldn’t have scrapped with T Hall because he’s a rookie. Completely ignoring the fact that 1) he has no problem with ANYONE going after Subban and 2) Hall actually started the fight.
Imagine if Cooke takes out Kaberle ????
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Expecting consistency from Cherry is like expecting virtue from Charlie Sheen.
Yep. Dorsett was being a dickhead, as usual. The wrong guy got hurt.
Cheers!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
hey Garry, since when does Cammy wear #15?
*facepalm*
Sadly, of that duo, he’s the one who’s more with it.
Gill nees just 96 more goals as a Hab to catch up with The Big Three (Robinson 197, Savard 166, Lapointe 166, Savard 100)

Slowpel! Great name!
Wow, Rollie…..
Damn. Should be 4-0 by now.
oh babby!!!!
Ohhh…. so close

oh em gee old school save by rollie
also, nice play by Gomez
That was a Floppy Thomas save there
Yes sir! Ohhhhh Nellie!!
Good start so far — we’re going to need confidence going into Tuesday’s game against Boston
Eller’s line looks amazing out there. Mostly Eller, too.
How much coke did CHarlie Sheen snort?
Enough to kill Two and a half Men.
Is the CBC praising Reimer tonight?
Chance the dog my ass
I hope the boys put another one in this period, because next period Price is going to see as much rubber as Charlie Sheen during a Las Vegas weekend.
Wow how many horseshoes does Rolly have up his ass tonight?
Come on guys. You gotta bury these changes.
Roloson has a Tim Thomas signature hosrseshoe under his equipment.
solid. is this original material?
HA!
I would hope fe does.
Yeah ok whatever….
Call back in 1 year.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
Lord, please can we play these clowns in the playoffs?
Guy Boucher is the French Canadian Bruce Boudreau.
Boone it wasn’t necessarily a bad penalty by Eller. It was in the D zone and it was against Stamkos.
And it was more Stamkos embellishment than badness on the part of Eller
The Bolts are comming on strong. The Habs can’t slack off they have to bring it!
At least the Gomez contract expires in my lifetime.
Not sure when Vinny really earned respect as a leader, since he was completely dwarfed by Richards and St. Louis in their run to the cup. plus, his contract is longer than Gomez’s.
Same price, same term, I think most would take Vinny, but the extra years make his contract worse in my eyes.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
CHICKEN WHAT?
LOL I LOVE YOU DON HAHAHHAA
double – I really really hope he plays
Not if the Habs are true to their taking penalties form you don’t. MAB will score 2 for sure.
It seems that Reimer has a huge five hole
Time for another Gill drive from the point!
Frak
Had to be Dominic Moore wow…
Moore should have been drove into next week there.
That was a cheap call period.
Hawks 3 Laffs ZERO
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
And in more shocking news, Don Cherry defends GILLIES! This guy really is suffering from dementia, i hope he donates his brain for study.
This is MAB’s big moment to begin the 2nd. Time to go “Full Garden Gnome!”
That’s what she said!
Waitaminnit……
Great effort. My kind of humour… i liked it. Hope that helped.
The look on Boucher’s face needs to be smacked off.
WTF was Sopel doing there?
I’m sure certain bleeding hearts will bemoan the fact that Halpern didn’t tie up “the guy he replaced” there.
Gomez line – not good.
just a bad luck bounce.
Tampa ain’t rolling over easy.
I wouldn’t worry- now that Gill has found his offensive game, we have an added advantage.
Man…..
Benny, not again….
Bugs’ boy does it again.
Uh…er…what elbow?
Pretty chintzy call.
I didn’t see an elbow. What bullshit
This is getting messy
Pouliot is so hot/cold this season. unfortunatly more cold than hot.
Beubye Benny, don’t get splinters on your arse riding the bench.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
That’s the MAB we all remember.
VINTAGE MAB THERE
HAHAHAHHA
GOOD JOB GOMEZ.
2 minutes for being tall.
I wonder if anyone will complain? Will the CBC will have to put out a chicken sh*t apology
He was showing Leino going in on a Leaf for icing and Leino clearly took the Leafs feet out as the go behind the net and DC says what a chicken shit… as CBC fades out… LOL
Cherry is on a 7 second delay, so obviously his bosses have no problem with it…
__________________________
The only interesting answers are those which destroy the questions. ~Susan Sontag
Is he still on delay?
“The CBC sincerely apologises for anyone offended by Mr. Cherry’s discriminatory remarks about chickens.”
It’s the Toronto Maple Leaf CBC Coach’s Corner.
Basically when a Montrealer buys a ticket to see a hockey game he’s subsidizing an American’s all you can eat extravaganza.
hahaha tampa bay advertising “all you can eat and drink seats” for 25 bucks. how much would those go for in the bell? 600?
Regular season?
Around $182 or $207 for a premium game. That’s in the corners – cheapest all you can eat sits in the building other than luxury boxes.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
Vintage MAB right there.
And the downside of MAB, love it
I usually can’t stand Cherry, but he’s dead-on talking about Gillies.
Yes, I didn’t get a good look at the replay, and Cherry is right.
The NHL gave itself a pat on the back on that one on a journeyman.
Good one NHL.
Sad.
“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”–Winston Churchill
That was actually well done by Gomez. He actually went to the middle of the ice, and Gio drew a penalty because of it.
Great play by Gomie.
OK it was only against MAB but a good play nonetheless.
Don Cherry just said Chicken shit on live TV… LOL
He did!
I am shocked they called that.
Look who gave it up with a little pressure. That’s why no team wanted him.
Boone, the customer and the Commentariat is always right.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Not a game for the Cammalleri highlight reel.
Go Habs Go!
Hamrlik needs to be taken to the glue factory.
J.E.L.L.O.
Shots 8-1 Tampa Bay this period. The Habs…sigh. Dr. Jeckyll meet Mr. Hyde.
I hope Max Pac gets AK’s power-play time after that sad sack display.
Why is Cammalleri on the PK and why can’t he bury it anymore?
AK who created our power play goal earlier?
One team is much better than the other.
Can you guess which one?
Moore looking like a solid top6 player today. Would look nice in that Halpern spot right now.
Moore: $1.1M 22 pts -14
Halpern: $600K 23pts +7
Put him on the first plane home and back to Hamilton. Pouliot is good for a penalty every game!!!
Hamrlik cannot keep the puck in the zone for his life.
18 minors in 62 games for Pouliot.
Subban leads the team with 30 minors in 60 games played.
He cut him off, no damage
I’ll agree with that.. and not just because of tonight.
But Moore is better in a top 6 role, Halpern looks out of place, he hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been good either.
A) Halpern is a righty
B) Halpern has similar grinding skills
C) Halpern is way better at face-offs
AK doesn’t seem to like the shuffling, either. He ends up flat and disinterested.
Powerplay is taking a massive dump
Terrible shift by AK
Hammer! *%^&_
If the Habs want to win this game they have to stay out of the box
Without Malone and Downie, the Tampa offense is pretty top-heavy. Shut down the stars and you win the game.
Chill out folks
halpern has not shown that he belongs as a top 6 winger…pyatt needs upgrading..martin loves hammer on the pp
Price handles the puck as good as any D they have Mr. Boone!
Good play by Benny on Bergenheim.
What’s with all the line changes? Team was doing so well.
Propwash!
Thanks for telling me the name of the song. Much appreciated!
This Tampa Bay lovefest on the CBC is getting sickening
Any time!
Had to make fun of the Gunners, Axl Rose is a tool
Somebody just blew by Weber there. PRIMETIME… not
Did the Habs stop playing or did the bolts start playing?
We should have kept Moore. He scored some big goals for us and I am still not sure why they didn’t sign him
dd hardly plays
hahaha Don Cherry just called Leino chickenshit on national tv
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
We’ll know that PK has truly made it when Steven Brunt does a profile on him. Cox shouldn’t even be considered as a serious columnist.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
-GK-
Did Cherry just say “chicken sh*t” on the CBC?
Edit: I guess I am not the only one who heard it.
I actually have always wanted to know where boucher got that scar. he looks like he was playing with happy gilmore when he took his skate off and stabbed someone with it.
I’ll bring the beer.

C”Mon Cammy WAKE UP!
They gotta stop with the bounce passes back to the blueline.
Go Habs Go!
Max Pac!
Pacioretty!
Here I was complaining that Pleks was useless at the point on the PP when…WOW!
***Subbang!!!***
MaxPac is scoring at a 30 goals/season rate.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Make up call
***k!
Eller was choked about something there, and it almost appeared as if the ref was listening. Good actor, that ref.
STAY OUT OF THE FREAKIN P BOX HABS WILL YA DAMNIT!
Eller again? Bench him. Press box him. Send him to Hamilton.
***Subbang!!!***
LOL
***Subbang!!!***
Looked to me both Eller and Stamkos were guilty of that….
I agree. Eller just got caught though.
He held Stamkos glove. Pretty obvious on the replay.
I love that!
Sign of a player with quiet confidence he will score again and bigger ones in the future. I hate when players jump at the glass like it is the Stanley Cup winning goal in double overtime.
Being on anything other than a Fox sports or Sportnet broadcast he SHOULD be neutral… But HNIC has become more and more anti-Canadiens.
Sneezing.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
What is the BS call against Eller this time?
Imagine if we had two kids like Pacioretty, kid’s a beast.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Another penalty. Way to keep them in the game.
The whole Gio-MaxPac-Gomez line + PK looked great on that PP goal.
P A T H E T I C Rollie is
Saweeeeet!
PATCHES!
I stand corrected.
Max!
Patches the cat!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Max Pac!!! PP working great tonight!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I love having a power forward again…
Yes. Pacioretty is getting so used to scoring he doesn’t even celebrate anymore
That’s whaat happens when ya get your nose dirtty
Nice goal – every player on the ice worked hard for that one.
Galley making excuses for Tampa… he should be rootin’ for a Canadian team or go south.
WOOHOO!!
Better.
Yeah, Pleks really shouldn’t be manning the point on the PP.
Go Habs Go!
They don’t really lose any ground though. Another loss or two after this and they are done, but as of yet I wouldn’t give up if I were a Leaf fan
Cammalleri should be grateful he didn’t get that shot in the huevos like Max-Pac last game….
We have enough defense. I wish we had Chris Stewart. Sigh!!!
Gary Galley just invented a new word “Comfortability with playing the puck”
*Facepalm*

Pittsburgh leading the B’s 2-1 through two.
Wha? Don’t remember that gem floating about.
In pretty good shape. Keep playing the same way and NO penalties.
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/31155-Sources-Lightning-sale-could-be-complete-by-end-of-weekend-Bettman-blocked-Lecavalier-trade.html
Go Habs Go!
Agreed.
Someone should tell the Laffs fans that James Reimer no longet has a better GAA and SV% than Carey Price. Only takes one bad game with that few starts.
Lawlz X2
I’m sorry, I realy have a hard time believing that. Has that rumour ever been confirmed? By Gainey, Bettman, or anyone who was supposedly involved? I just don’t buy it.
Whatever. I like Cammy a lot and am happy he’s a Hab. He’s a gritty player for taking that puck off of his skate, doing what’s needed to win, coming back and re-assuring his team-mates. This whole team has so much character, unlike anything I’ve seen since Gainey was captain.
Both are pretty pleasing right now.
The pints (and remember its still early) are mostly attributed to a friends birthday celebration. I won’t be able to take sole credit when its all said and done.
“Gomez can’t buy a goal”
Even with all that money???

I remember that one too. When I doing my search for the source on the Price/Plek/PK deal I came across that other nixed deal. The Tampa organization really has grown by leaps and bounds since they sold to Vinik.
Go Habs Go!
Call up Allan Bester….
I said it before, once players figure out his weaknesses, he will come back to earth. Happens to any goalie. He has to plug those to be deemed an elite goaltender that Laffs fans make him out to be.
Come playoffs, or sooner, MC will make u eat dem words.
“The sh*t is CHESS!NOT CHECKERS.” Denzel W.(Training Day)
I have to admit I was hardcore on the Vinny bandwagon. But never at that price! It is unbelievable Gainey was ready to make that deal. The pressure on Vinny would have been unworkable and I think he would have crumbled. Much like Pierre Turgeon did.
And also not as good. Nor a thoroughbred.
Go Habs Go!
You beat me to it. Thanx. Also he was late getting going last year after coming back from his injury. In his 6 games back he has 2 goals and 2 assists. Too much what have you done for me lately on this site. The team is getting balanced scoring and winning.
You post well for 7 pints! Some trolls on this site cannot even spell “cat” when they are sober.
Bon appetit!
I do speak fluent drunkenese.
Just wait for the playoffs, then you’ll love him again
Colon won’t touch his little juiced up monkey kids team
Merci
haha. zing!
Go Habs Go!
That is true. But he is still a very young goalie so I would not bury him yet.
There was also a deal apparaently two years back that involved Pleks, Higgins , etc , etc, to Tampa for Vinny.
Nothing came of it, but I beleive one of the Tampa execs mentioned Habs players by name, and that really pissed of Gainey.

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!
I love Scott Gomez… in a hockey kinda way
Stop the presses! Milbury speaks the truth. He said, “The only reason fighting is in the game is because we like it. It does nothing to police the game.”
Right. on.
Cambell missed it, he was busy sending an email to a ref who called a penalty on his son.
I refudiate whatever you are saying!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
It’s generally not a policy of the Commissioner or of Gainey to comment on things like that. But it’s out there and it has never been denied.
Go Habs Go!
Well done! Subtle, understated, yet still biting.

Yes Cammy was great last Playoffs but we need him to step up in the reg season as well.
So could you clarify for us please? Is the pretty good record your 7 pints or the the 23-1-4-2?
***Subbang!!!***
Maybe he should start bribing goalies.
I HOPE HE DOES
Ya, but he only scores when he’s playing in the state of Florida. It’s a joke, don’t go searching for stats.
I CANNOT believe Lucic didn’t get suspended for that crosscheck to the head. That was unreal. For him to not get suspended is a travesty.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Yeah Cammy was fantastic, no doubt.
I think its because with so many people attacking Gomez, many are quick to bring up his playoff performance in defense of Gomez.
It would be the same with Cammy if the shoe was on the other foot.
He is younger than Price.
<——– That’s why.
That Broons game drove Price’s stats up
I blame the edumacational system.
“Gomez can’t buy a goal”, well Boone with $7.3 mil he should
Cancel the parade! Anyone else left in the system?
It does scuttle the commonly-held perception that Gainey always viewed Price as untouchable and all of that eh?
Go Habs Go!
AND Mara is sitin?
Where are they?
Oh yeah. They’re all heading for the basement…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
People have such short and or selective memory.
The pressure on Montreal back then to sign the favoured son Vinny was enormous.
Hard to imagine now what kind of team we would have if Bettman had not nixed it.
I think Weber on the left side is a disaster. He looks quite out of place.
If that deal had gone down I would be in hiding somewhere right now, my picture up in the post office
The Great Reimer being pulled. HA!
Too many concussionalities from back in the day.
Reimer reamed. Hawks 5 Laffs 1
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
My fabourite is the Glenn Healy “calamity of errors.”
I wonder why Cammy is on the PK when we have Pyatt, Moen and Halpern – all of whom are very good penalty killers.
What I don’t get is how people crow about how great Gomez was in the playoffs and seem to forget what Cammy did.
WTF…..MAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Habs Go!
Gotta admit, Gomez has showed up for the game. Must be out of stamps.
Dodged a mega bullet on that one.
I was so excited when we got Cammy. Not so much anymore
Methinks that Leafs bandwagon will be emptying a bit tonight eh? Back to Earth!
Go Habs Go!
I don’t believe Gainey would have ever made that deal. If he did then Pierre Boivin had a gun to his head.
Dang! Wish we had Brewer.
Nice kill so far… Tampa deflated.
Another MAB brainfart
Isn’t Gill 23-1 when he scores a goal?
Cammy felt the worst of that shot block.
What a great MAB! There’s nothing like the real deal.
What do I know?
Time to end the Plek at the point experiment.
Oh nooooooooo!

Yes. Martin explicitly instructed the players to play like sh*t. Yeesh….
What’s that you were saying?

This is the difference in a well coach team and a team that sits back and prays for the goalie to win the game. Our coach is on the wrong bench . It will take a miracle to win this game Tampa is coming on and they will get a lot more powerplays.
haha. Right now he’s in the new leaf goalie honeymoon period. That will end, trust me.
gotta love the row of Tricolore right behind the Tampa bench
Boone, hope you’ree cooking up a humdinger vid intro.

God CBC sucks.

agreed, but i would add Drury’s in there as well.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
I think Lecavalier’s cap hit is the only one in the league I’d want less than Gomer’s.
DD leads the team in points/minutes played. But in defence of guys like pleky he probably doesn’t face the same line matchups either.
http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2408
What an absolute horrible call
Shouldn’t both Eller and Stamkos received penalties there?
Holding the stick….
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Damien Cox just tweeted he’d place PK “well below” John Carlson in the Calder race…..
Even trying to step back as a neutral observer, am I wrong to say it’s completely absurd? It’s the “WELL below” part that really bewilders me. Carlson’s +/- is 18 points higher, has way more blocked shots and 3 GWG, but Subban has more points (even-strength AND power-play), more hits, and is relied upon to play in every kind of situation in the absence of top-minute veterans like Markov and Gorges
That’s why MAB was not re-signed.
Go Habs Go!
Wow…a MAB moment.
***Subbang!!!***
Who’s missing Bergeron?
…and there’s the even-up cheapie.
What hands by DD!!!
I like having Gill against Vinny. Vinny ain’t as fast as he used to be, and having Gill on the ice prevents him from getting so cheap after the whistle.
That was Plekanec’s 30th assist of the season and the 50th point of the season.
Based on this pace, DD would have a 24 goal season. Wow.
I think both are ominous signs of the Coming Apocalypse.
What’s weirder? Hal Gill scoring two games in a row or Boone’s videos?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I giggled at the Markov bobblehead skits.
Boone might have found a potential career change……

“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
But as first-round opponents go, the Lightning aren’t as daunting as Philadelphia or Boston
i dunno about you guys id rather play boston in first round than tb
** Buck Fruins **
Pk and Stamkos pee-wee pics. Awesome.
Isn’t that a government job?
Wasn’t he a Roads Scholar – worked summers for the Dept. of Highways?
Fan since ’71
LMAO
What wrong with working for the Dept. of Highways?
All depends. Some are contracted out.
VINTAGE MAB! hehe
He is profound. Why Stock isn’t teaching at Harvard University is a mystery to me.
“A couple of games with huge playoff indications.” PJ Stock.
What a wordsmith.
Mike, did your dog die? WTF?
***Subbang!!!***
I really wanted to say something about the dog… i just couldn’t find the right words… any words.
so where was the penalty?
OH MY GOD was that ever weak
Wow – the replay showed no hook at all.
Isn’t Gill 23-1 when he scores a goal?
That was never a penalty.
Glencross and Bourque are a big part of Calgary’s success this year and it’s because they go to the net. Patches has been doing that a lot with success. It’s not rocket science. Man I wish we could have picked up Chris Stewart at the deadline.
There once was a scribe named Mike Boone
Who’s Weird Videos made us all swoon
His puppets were cheesy
They made us feel queasy
Like the Creature from the Black Lagoon

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
>>>BONESTORM<<<
Boone has “Lost It”
I am reminded of the brilliant James Joyce line spoken to a former girlfriend: “You are as vapid as the glass eyes of my stuffed fox.”
I love his dog. Used to see Mike walking his dog near my place when I lived on the West Island. But it was a tad more animated then
***Subbang!!!***
Where’s the trip on Eller?
whats on boucher’s face? it looks like pillow face or something, sleeping inbetween periods is overrated.
The video above is irrefutable proof that consumption of large amounts of drugs and blogging don’t mix.
The Wiz…what a suit!
***Subbang!!!***
I was thinking the same thing.
Look, Boucher doesn’t use the whiteboard. Fleming is the real coach.
“Florida F___ksticks.” I like that.
It’s nice to see that hockey players don’t dress like a bunch of bums like in some other sports.
Ray Emery notwithstanding.
Vinny who???????????????????
I’m glad they called that one, but they missed the brewer hook on Halpern in the corner.
For once a penalty is called when our opponents hook Subban.
Stamkos, that goon.
The system at work … enjoying a 40 MIN penalty kill … thanks JM
Time to sit through another blown powerplay
If the Lightning play a tenth as bad as that anthem guy sang, we’ll be fine.
The first player in Tampa Bay Lightning history? Roman Hamrlik.
When Gomer does shoot on net it’s at impossible angles
Let’s go Habs!
DD against Vinny: about a nine or ten inch height differential.
Uh oh, ref looks like St. Louis’ little brother.
20000 at ten bucks a ticket though
6’7″ Hal Gill and 5’7″ Desharnais with the goals.
Both total longshots, Gill was an 8th-rounder, Desharnais undrafted.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
MAB is the only D they’ll have out there! Just pressure the points!!!
Timeout Mtl, actually, Mr. Boone.
Playing Pictionary on the Tampa bench there..
Halpern falling on the play? Try tripped on the play Cole
haha, SeriousFan called it, Reimer’s gettin lit up like a christmas tree tonight.
Weren’t exactly nice goals either. Hawks are not what they were last year, but Toews being the top player in February league-wide has got his team in gear. Great player, great leader.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Check back later for live game blogging and weird video.
