The Caps this season have not had to face adversity like the Habs have had to, both on individual levels and on a team level. Gionta, Cammi, AK, Gomez are used to pressure and used to finding the will to come back. Can we say as much for the Caps when just pure talent doesn’t pull them through? We’ll see.
if pouliot clicked with his limated like he did when he first came here, and cammy and kostitsyn played like they did before kostsyn got injures, and if max played like he did last season, and sergei played like he did in his first proseason, and if moen played like he did when he won the cup.. WATCH OUT!
Bandwagon fans…Bandwagon reporters…I spent 24 years in the Army…Captains do the fighting…Generals are in the rear with the beer…maybe General Ovechkin’s soldiers are pumping his head up too big…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
“The Caps… as yet, they haven’t made the Canadiens
regret their childhood decisions to pursue such a violent sport.”
“Finally, the Caps have gotten into minor tiffs with Montreal in the
media. Stop it. Ignore them. In the Napoleonic Army, duels were only
allowed between officers of equal rank. You can’t let a captain shoot a
general over a trifle. Why are the Caps fussing with Plekanec, whose 25
goals would tie him with Laich for fifth place on Washington’s
powerhouse roster?”
Part of me is content with them simply winning ONE game, just to shut up all the “blowout bandwagon” idiots, including those CBC buffoons this past Tuesday.
Having said that, however, it stands to reason that if you can beat a team once, you can beat them 4 times.
Can you imagine going back to the Bell Centre up 2-0??? It gives me shivers…..the kind I haven’t had since the spring of ’93.
How to know if you are a mega-hockey star: Sidney Crosby; you can have influence on a player(s) and style of a game or series that you are not even playing in.
As if the Habs don’t already have their collective plates full with the best team in the NHL, the best player in the world (Crosby) is apparently making life even more difficult by simply being Sidney Crosby.
My tongue firmly planted in my right cheek as a type. If Ovechkin is concerned how Crosby is playing in a different series then the Habs sshould be pleased that he is not concerning himself with the matter at hand, the fact that they are losing their series and they have lost the home-ice advantage that they played all season to obtain. Counting the hrs and minutes till puck-drop. Let’s go boys! One shift at a time!
Not that I’m saying this means anything… but from a story on NHL.com:
<cite>Ovechkin was held without a point or a shot on goal Thursday night. The last time that happened, Jan. 19 against Detroit, he rebounded with 3 goals, 2 assists and a total of 14 shots on goal over the next two games.</cite>
The season is one thing. But we have guys that are hungry int eh dressing room… Gionta, Gomez, Cammy, Plecky, Lapierre and the list goes on… No, I think they will play a good solid D and the 3rd and 4th lines will keep Washington in their end.
If they are indeed the same Habs that we saw all season, I’m expecting them so sit on their heels after a win – as if proving they could get just one against the Caps was enough.
But this is the playoffs, they know we expect more, and I hope they bring more.
So sad to see a viable franchise with such dedicated fan support choke
at such an inoppotune moment in their history. The unraveling of this
team will have a disastrous effect on the scores, nay dare I say
hundreds, of dedicated Caps fans. I just hope Ovie and BB can keep
their obvious distaste for eachother out of the public spotlight…for
the good of the game. Oh the shame, the shame.
The maelstrom of dissent and dysfunction currently engulfing the Washington Capitals organization has been further fueled by revelations of a seemingly intractable rift between straightjacket-bound head coach Bruce Boudreau and faltering ex-superstar Alexander Ovechkin.
It’s all revealed in the following quotes gleaned from the Montreal Gazette’s venerable sports section, as well as contributions from a Canadian Press piece. Readers will note the extent to which this season’s President’s Trophy winner is a house of cards teetering on the brink of total and utter collapse, as in-fighting and finger-pointing, and possibly even tawdry hijinks, continue to poison the Capitals dressing room.
“…He [Ovie] just had a bad game…Hopefully, it [Game 2] will be different…” – Note that Boudreau is hedging on Ovie’s prospects for game 2 by suggesting he’s only hopeful that things will be different rather than absolutely certain that things will be different. This is a brazen attempt by the wily ol’ coach to completely undermine the fragile ex-superstar’s confidence heading into tonight’s game and can only accelerate the franchise’s imminent collapse.
“He didn’t have a great game and every human being, no matter how good you are, sometimes doesn’t have a great game.” – According to Boudreau’s backstabbing insult, Ovie is just a lowly human being. Nothing special to see here, folks, that’s it, that’s all. How Ovie can possibly show up tonight after being summarily beaten down in the public’s eye is beyond me.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking all the time. I’d love to be able to know that, but I don’t.” – Boudreau is many things, but one of them is not dumb. You want to call your aging, faltering prima donna an idiot without explicitly doing so? This is the way to do it. Problem is, Ovie’s no fool himself and is likely to publicly turn on Boudreau any minute now.
“Give him a massage…I’d just tell him to relax…I hope he doesn’t get frustrated…” – This sordid stuff is all just bubbling to the surface now. Obviously, Boudreau’s comments hint that there’s a whole lot more going on behind closed doors than we are being told. Should any of the resulting inferences play out, it might explain the awkward Ovie-Boudreau tension we are now witnessing as the entire Caps organization sinks into irrelevance.
“I think it’s scary.” – This comment from Habs defenceman Jaroslav Spacek is one thing upon which I think we can all agree: It is scary. Very scary, indeed.
The Washington Capitals: Melting down like The Backstreet Boys at a Led Zep reunion concert.
i gotta say sergei has been one of our most consistent players since the olympics. he’s done everything asked of him…although he tries some cute plays here and there that could land him in trouble, but he moves the puck, controls, the puck and has the responsibility on the 3rd line that suits him. he’s going to be a great 2 way player!
MacLean is an idiot. He used to be ok, years ago, until his junior B refereeing career made him into an analyst, or so he thought. Just an idiot
I have a few female friend back in charlottetown who have been at some of brad richards pool parties. Word is from a few of the girls that MacLean was there a few times and would only look girls in the chest. I guess he creeped a lot of them out. Kinda gross, really!! This is hearsay, but I do believe the girls!!
Hope The habs get this one…. Very worried about the caps having a breakout evening…..No matter what happens tonight the habs are still in good position. We win and were up 2-0 we lose we still have home ice .
Tommy, I can only wish for the same fun that Jim and I had watching the last one. We do have the horses, just hope they play 100% from first whistle to last.
Well the CBC is off to a rip snorting start….Ron McLean just said that the Sabres will try to be the only team to take 2 games to none lead, as all the other series are tied at 1-1 with the exception of Nashville/Chicago which only started last night. Hmmmm….did the Habs play this morning and lose?
iam expecting the caps to design a play early on and have OV score it thereby getting that pitbull into the game and get his mojo back. we must play same way we did thursday and stay out of the box in order to avoid a potential slaughter. we have character and experience to be calm but the caps are itching to pound us when they get a chance. come on boys hang tough.
Better not miss the first 12 minutes of this one. It might be the most important dozen in this series. If we can with stand the on slot and come out even at the end of the first. Then we will be in this thing right up to the last whistle.
To be going back to the Bell Center with a split would be very nice, but going back, up by two, Well start picking out your spots for the parade.!
A bit much I know, but stranger things have happened with a big heart and a little pixie dust.
I remember it well. Up 2-0 in the series outplaying them badly in game 3,cam ward standing on his head. A high stick everybody in the hockey watching world saw except for the 4 idiots in stripes on the ice. We probably would have won that game then won the series in 4 straight, then who knows afterwards.
Too many fans far too full of bravado after one win. You can bet Habs players are keeping an even keel following the well-earned game one victory. Duplicating the feat tonight will be a tough task. Not an impossible task, but a very tough one. If the Habs can keep doing the little things that created success the other night, then they have a decent chance tonight. However, a period like the first in game one could put us behind the eight ball real quick. Coming back to the Bell Centre even in games is probably more than many of us expected (include me), but coming back up two games? Could you just imagine that! The only advice I would offer tonight is, keep your heads up boys, and play a disciplined game. Stay out of the penalty box. Refs will be watching the Habs closely tonight and will not tolerate much of the “cheating” on faceoffs that they put up with in game one. You also have to feel there could be marginal calls against the Habs in other areas, such as little clutching and holds. At the same time, expect to be fouled all night long by the Caps (exhibit A: the non-call, penalty shot trip on Gionta the other night). The darling Washington Capitals are down one game, and in their own barn at that. Something that surely does not sit well in the stomachs of Bettman’s boys. Work hard, and play your own game boys.
Should be an interesting match between Coaches and lines changes. I think OV and Co. will see a mix of D again….no one single D man will be able to contain OV for 25 min. Will they run Spacek? expose MAB?
Caps will come out smoking so I hope our Habs will be able to tough it out and keep it at zero’s at worse by the end of the 1st. That would be a moral victory for Habs and increase doubt in the Cap’s heads. A perfect scenario will be for the Caps to take a couple of dumb penalties in trying to show their size and we can pop a one against their weaker D and “The-Odour” to get the ball rolling. People are so focused on OV that they forget WAS PK and overall D game is weak. Martin knows it, I hope the players stick to the same game plan and MAB can fire a laser or Marky can get involved from the back
Nobody expected Habs to take 1 game and surely not 2 in OV-land so what ever happens, we are ahead of the experts….but 2 would be REALLY nice!!!
Cammy is back, Pouliot & AK46 played well last game.
Halak found his mojo again.
Gomez is awesome. Gill is awesome.
Caps might have to play the Habs with more respect now, which will play to our favour if the team manages to take control of the game again (like in 2nd period last game). Because once we have their respect, it opens the door for them to FEAR us.
Yikes, don’t remind me! But do you remember who was in nets for those 4 straight losses?? Yup, our old pal Theo, who is now about 190 feet at the OTHER end of the rink.
Jaro The Wall is undefeated when facing 45 shots or more. I believe he has 8 wins at that rate of bombardment. That says two significant things to me:
Jaro excels when he gets in the zone and is constantly busy.
when he is in the zone and playing with confidence, the team opens up and starts taking chances — playing a higher-risk, but obviously higher-reward style of hockey, just as they did in period two of Thursday’s game.
All to say that I hope and pray that JM doesn’t revert to his one forechecker, kitty-bar-the-door tentative style of defensive hockey. These thoroughbreds need to run. Flow is our game. And hammer that weak Caps D with at least two forecheckers.
We need better goaltending than we have been getting in the playoffs the last few years. Halak was not good tonight, specifically on the tying goal and in OT.
The NHL has for many years, directed the outcome of games. The refs are employees of the league…so they follow the script. Hockey is a great game, but the NHL has tainted it with such dumb rules as calling penalties when someone’s equipment(stick) is faulty. Allowing players to MOVE THE GOAL!! Just imagine if the NBA allowed players to move the basket, just as LeBron was about to dunk!! Insane. Goalie interference is now sanctioned..try doing that in soccer…
As for Halak…probably should have had the last two…but why did Georges drop to one knee. If he sprawls sideways the puck doesn’t get through…It actually went between his legs….Then in O.T….we had 3 players going to the bench on a change after 30 SECONDS OF O.T.???? Isn’t that how we scored the winner in game one…on a bad Wash. line change. Why change after 30 seconds??? And again, why did Hamrlick back in…So many mistakes…Darche give-away…Markov..brutal give-away…
But bottom line….the refs and the league handed this one to the Caps.
If you think the series is over…go golfing with the Leafs…at least we got one game and who owuld have thought we would go toe to toe with the Caps…
I say stay with Jaro and give him a chance to be number one…he made some mistakes tonight but he should get at least one more game…you put Price in and it goes bad at the Bell Center…well nuff said on that…
We are overachieving right now…let’s hope the Bell Center can provide some momentum…
Pouliot needs to get his head out of his @ss big time…he is barely a 4th liner right now…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Watch the highlight of the tying goal…..WAS player on the far side was offside. One skate over the line and the other in the air….never should have counted!!! Just another missed call from the g.d officiating tonight!
Weak goals tonight. But we kept up. Halak has been not quite as good towards the end of the season. But he has still done pretty good. Its tough against the Caps. Price may not have done any better. Too easy to say it now. But in order to win against this team, our goalie, no matter who it is, has to play GREAT. Its that simple..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I can only put down what I see and feel The same logic applies to all I see and feel. We were seriously screwed over, and someone has to say it. Boone might not say conspiracy, but look at the (circumstancial, I know) evidence.
Really hope you are wrong . . . . but its just hope. I do disagree that it will be easy for the caps though. they may win in 5 but all three being easy? No way.
Point is, they did and they (and we) have to live with it. Now will they learn from it? No backing off, no backing up, press and dig in the corners. That’s what won game 1 and the first 2 periods tonight. They got steamrolled in the 3rd and couldn’t get back in gear. Proves you CAN give up leads like that. But what you make of it going forward is what makes YOU.
On the reverse angle you could see it was a washington hand pass. They would not have blown it down otherwise, because we are allowed to hand pass in our own defensive zone.
A lot of people here are too negative! Habs have been playing really well. Do any of you realize that the Habs just took the league’s best team to OT twice in their own builiding. Hoping for the Habs’ to make some noise in Montreal. Halak was shaky in this game and I have no doubt that he wants to improve on his performance. Go Habs Go!
Big props to top line of Cammalleri-Plekanec-Andrei Kostitsyn for producing 4 goals!
A win if not for one of the worst displays of officating in playoff history. I hope the team takes this as a game they need to avenge when they return to host the Caps at the Bell Centre, they need to burn up the ice and make the Capitals pay. O’B must be shifted back into the lineup, our inability to punish anyone who plays in our end is taking a toll. Hamrlik should honestly be scratched, -3 is inexcusable, especially a -3 that is exactly what it reads as, not circumstance.
This sucks. It really does. Of course going into the series most everybody expects the Habs to lose but that’s why they play the game….anything can happen. Just imagine if we were up 2-0 right now?
So they win game 1, shock the NHL and then to have game 2 locked up and be up 2-0 in the series heading home would be HUGE! Maybe even enough to propel the Habs to win the series. But how can the players, coaches feel good about themselves right now, mentally they can not be in a good place right now. The good feeling from game 1 is gone. You will find out everything you would want to know about these current Habs on Monday night and the rest of the series. If the Canadiens can win on Monday then we have a series again but if the Caps win Monday I think you can pretty much end the series in favor of the them.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
They moved OV to the right side to get away from Spacek and play against Hamrlik. Hammer was -3 and we know how OV did. Gotta fix that next game somehow…..I’ll leave that to coach.
I’m really not one for ref conspiracies, I just believe that most of the time the officiating in the NHL is piss poor, but you make some very very good points.
Me too…I do think we can take the Caps tonight…they are going to have to back off with their goaltending or pay for it…Wonder what Elmer Fudd will do?….
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
I know. But it happened and it’s over. Winning teams find ways to overcome tough losses. We need to keep the pressure on the Caps and they only way to do that is to not let the officiating get inside our heads. If we do it becomes an excuse. And we all know that excuses are for….
I am as pessimistic as anyone, but I can see the Habs splitting at home. BUT it better be game three, because if the Caps win the next game I think they will win four in a row.
I would like to know what JM said after the 3rd period. nothing I am asuming. Halak, could have been better but Our defense is brutal, that is probably JM as well. Well, the beast is awake, now we are totally in trouble. I bet the faith in that locker room is probably not gonna come back! Nice penalties near the end of the 3rd, real accidental when that shit happens. Can we rebound from this? IDK, I assume we are in serious trouble now!
——-US Born Habs fan, Proud to be a traitor (when it comes to Hockey).
Halak should get the next start…and since when was the book on Halak “high glove side”?
In any case, the series is tied 1-1 and the Habs still have a chance, the Caps have momentum but the Habs do as well: they have shown that they can score at the rate of the Caps and can still play defence…Varlamov is going to start the next game and the Habs put three goals past him tonight…
The Habs sat back just a LITTLE BIT at 4-1….there is no point in blaming the refs, there are no do-overs…the Habs dealt with it as best they could and almost pulled it off.
It was never going to be easy but the Habs are still in it….GO HABS GO…
Dude, I can’t afford more than two sticks a season. If someone broke one of my sticks I would seriously have a fit. If I broke a dudes stick I would feel equally bad. Probably why it only happens with frequency in the NHL. LOL
100% agree once again. The players have to get this game out of their heads asap. I do think either JM or upper management should address the goaltender interference though because it’s definitely a serious issue. Let’s hope Habs nation rattles the walls at the Bell Centre this week and shakes the ghosts out of their deep slumber!!
Hey MrHabby…judging by your PJ Stock telling-off…I am assuming that he was crowing about the great Caps win and that the Habs deserved to lose or something along those lines…
someday chris lee will cost some mobster a shit load of money on sports betting and will end at the bottom of a river wearing cement shoes and matching gloves.
I agree that pitiful PP was a momentum changing event. It was a coaching decision I think, indicated by putting DARCHE on the PP. JM wanted to prevent a CAPS goal rather than press for another goal. There was no sense that the Habs wanted to put offensive pressure on the Caps. I was screaming at my TV about how stupid this was.
Darche made a mistake that directly lead to a goal and JM puts him on the PP. SK is unfortunate to be on the ice when that goal was scored and his benched.
It mattered not how well we played tonight. We all said here, when the score became 4-1 Habs, that the officials would call crap penalties (or non-calls) to create a chance for the Caps to catch up.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Blame Halak all you want but it would be nice if our defence would stand people up at the blueline. Hamrlik kept on backing up and Backstrom used him as a screen. Ya can’t let guys come in like that.
It’s hard not to blame Halak for this loss (and piss-poor officiating). 3 goal lead – they tie it up – Pleks makes it 5-4 – weak tying goal. Great play by Backstrom but Halak should have been challenging more since there wasn’t really much threat of a pass.
I loved how he played in game 1 but 4 out of his last 5 starts have been pretty poor. Maybe early to make the switch considering his great season got the Habs into the playoffs but if Game 3 is a repeat of tonight’s performance, Game 4 has to be Price.
I wonder if the NHL Officating will ever really be brought under real scrutiny. CBC will declare war on anyone who questions them it seems because Ron used to be an official once upon a time so it’ll be a long bloody fight, with the complainants being called a bunch of crybabies who want to wimp the game up.
I still think the Habs can win this series. They just need to tighten up for game 3, limit the Caps’ room to skate, just like in game one. This game was really fun to watch, but to win the series the Habs can’t trade chances with the Caps, no team in the league can. They got into a run and gun game and that won’t do.
Best news of the night is that we now see Varlamov is just as beatable as Theo. Hopefully Halak can rebound for game 3. If not, well lets cross that bridge if we come to it.
He hasn’t been at fault for any goal he’s let in so far in this series, but at that point in the game, with this much at stake, I could care less if he was screened. He has to fight to see the puck and stop that, no excuses.
team played well at times but it will be hard to win this series as our 3rd and 4th lines are gritty but dont have any scoring touch…pouliot is becoming the little girl of the playoffs
5 sh*t goals… FFS!!!!!!!!!!!! Halak looks scared… not liking our chances as the Caps are flying. Mcguire has a huge hard on for Carlson right now holy sh*t!
Despite the fact we lost, I’m still soo proud of The Habs. We’re playing so well against the top team in the league and the series is tied 1-1.
Obviously the reffing was horrendous but in MTL it’s gonna be crazzyy. I rellyyy wish I could be there! Jaro should get the start because half the time he couldn’t see anything except the WAS players’ asses and he did not play as bad as people are making it sound. He made some great saves at the times we needed them.
All the guys have stepped it up and the series is STILL OURS.
We’re gonna win every game at home and that’s exactly how many games we need to win the series.
Twas eventuality that the size factor lead to the fatigue and dismantling of the Habs…on a plus note we took one of two from the best in their home town, not bad say’s I…
Reading some of these posts makes me sick. How do some of you consider yourselves Habs fans. Ask yourself if you were one of the many who thought they had no chance in this series, but aren’t giving them credit when they had the Caps on the brink of being down 2-0. Ask yourself if you are one of the many who criticize everything Bob Gainey has done, everything the coach does, but don’t give them credit when the team takes Washington to overtime twice in their building. Ask yourself if you are one of the many who criticizes Ak, Gomez, Gill, on a regular basis, yet fail to give them the benefit of the doubt when the Habs don’t win a game.
All of you fair-weather fans, don’t start jumping on the bandwagon midway through the 2nd, just to jump off again when they lose. You are the reason the hockey world hates Hab fans. If you are a fan, you should stick by your team. Lay off Halak, lay off the coach, and grow some balls and take your medicine when they lose.
He may be switched like Theo was if he crumbles in game three…
Hey. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do to win. Carey Price will be eager to prove himself it the chance comes up. With two good goalies we shouldn’t hesitate.
Cannot blame the refs for this…the Cammy slashing penalties were pretty legit and the Pouliot tripping was being called on the Caps all night…besides, the Habs killed all the penalties…
I hope I am wrong but this series is over. There is no way a team can score 5 goals in a playoff game, have a 3 goal lead and then lose the game and have anything left mentally…..this totaly wipes out any momentum from that the Habs had after game 1. I am a Habs fan not a Price or Halak biased fan. Halak should have had at the very least the last 2 goals. Does Martin finally give Price a chance in the supposed rotation. (Halak 4 losses in 5 games.) Why not give Price a chance in game 3? It worked for the Capitals tonight. Will Martin grow a pair and take a chance or will he stik with his MO, play it safe.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
The sticks that the pro’s are given have thinner walls then what you buy at a regular sports store. The thinner walls give them more flex, hence the even harder shot then a regular composite you buy right off the shelf. Which also means they break alot easier. Just look at some pic’s of a pro taking a shot and how much the stick bends. I’m 6’3″ and 230 and my composites don’t bend like that when i lean into them.
I’m having trouble saying this right now but we split the first two games and are in it in a big way. Go back 10 days and I was looking forward to next year.
That tying goal was brutal – everybody stopped waiting for the penalty call . . . . The Gomez fight was dumb – we need the little guy on the ice. And Halak . . . . . my god Halak.
But no one on the Caps has played in MTL in the playoffs or anywhere that is even remotely close to it in insanity – we all have to really hope it totally freaks them out. They definitely can be had.
BOONE SAID……2P 6:30: How long till the refs make this a closer game?
folks, i hate to break it to you, but todays game is about money. Every time the Habs took or had the lead, the REFS made sure WASH would eventually prevail…where was the calls for goalie interference? 2x… and what about delay of Game on Gionta’s 2nd goal…or the multiple punches, elbows, and charging displays by that purebred idiotic neanderthal greedVechKin…American Market, American Fans, American TV dollars…its about going where the money is (or needed)… this is supposed to be playoff hockey, and i can’t believe the refs are so eager to blow their whistles! especially in the last 2 minutes? do they want to effect the outcome? isn’t that absurd?…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…its agenda.
just look at the banter coming out of TSN… are these guys for real?…absolutely. They are catering to an American audience…it was no different than watching a WASHINGTON FEED…
the game is rigged/fixed/illegal on so many levels it should be abolished in its present form.
Our boys played their hearts out again and again, but its not just the on ice battles they are up against, too bad, and sad, but its the world we live in..every single thing is about money.
I’m thinking I must be operating on an old set of what I _thought_ were the goalie interference rules, gleaned from when I was a kid. Can somebody refresh my memory on what they actually are? Because not calling shenanigans, but I just really truly bluely do not see how sitting on Halak in a scrum, or shoving him to the ice when the puck is 20 feet away, are not both instant penalties…
Great game when all is said and done. Playoff hockey. I can’t fault the Habs too much. I mean the Caps are just explosive and any little error (like backing up/backing off) just gives them the edge they need. Excellent speed, shooting and passing on that team.
But the Habs gave as good as they got and almost pulled it off. Full credit to them for coming home 1-1 no matter how it happened. Monday should be sweet.
Officiating? Weak as it has been all season. But have a look at the other games being telivised and you’ll see questionable calls and non-calls everywhere. No conspiracy. Simple incompetency. That’s one thing the league must work to improve if they hope to keep fans like me on board.
The Caps lost 5 games at home this season. The fact that the Habs split is nothing short of a miracle. The way some people are commenting you would think the Habs were the favorites and that Halak blew it. Delusional much?
Puck was between his pads, 9/10 times there’s a quick whistle. Not to mention that Ovechkin pushed Halak into the net after for good measure, which is a penalty AND poor sportsmanship.
Will anybody give JM credit for what he’s done with this team in this series? Or are we all so set in our ways at blaming him for everything that goes wrong…
Throw the blame wherever you want guys, we
played a near perfect road game against arguably the best team in the
world. Our boys worked there asses off and no one out there should have
to shoulder any blame what so ever.
The winning goal is on Hamrlik as much as anyone. The whole game our D is not backing in allowing them to get easy shots from dangerous areas. What happened on the last two goals Washington scored?
Its not like that really, it is what it is, 4-1 lead and they choked, I love this team but this was unacceptable. Can they win, I don’t know but if they cant hold a three goal lead , the answer is no
Those refs just gave the finger to all the Montreal fans by closing their eyes to clear interference and not calling penalties on the Caps in that third. The Avs and now the Habs are robbed by refs with a agenda and supported by the NHL. Well the Avs management did the right thing they called the league out and no they won’t get any where but the refs are more under the spot light and the next game might be called even. That is what the the Molsons have to do now step up and ask why the money the Washington fans pay to see game is more important to the refs and the NHL that what Montreal fans pay.
hypocrisy of JM: Darche makes a terrible clear, leads to a goal, ends up on the next PP. If Sergei or OB had done that, they would’ve been benched and been a scratch the next game.
No Andrew, it was still alive between his pads and still in view of the ref so it’s alive. The rest is not valid because Ovie opushed Halak after the ouck went in. I’m ticked too but it wasn’t a missed call this time. Check the replays again. Whatever…it’s a goal. Let’s get it back
A starting goalie has to stop a wrister from the top of the circles when there’s no screen, especially in overtime. Blame Hamrlik all you want, he didn’t have a great game, but Halak blew this game. The refs gave Washington life, and Halak let them back in it. 5 goals scored on Halak in 22 minutes.
They haven’t been able to protect a lead all year. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach all night becasue we have seen all season long the same lak of killer instinct/finish with this team.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Seriously, do you know anything about sports or sports psychology? Throwing Price in at HOME in a crucial THIRD game which is the most IMPORTANT game of a seven game series is a recipe for disaster. If the Habs lose both at home look for Price to play in Washington.
No coach with any sense or GM wanting to protect a valuable asset would be foolish enough to throw Price to the wolves in Montreal.
No one predicted the Habs to win ONE game and we have split on the road. You need to chill dude.
I just want to know, from the fans here, (I’m not blaming any player here)why last year when we scored 5 goals the entire series everyone blamed Price? This year we score 5 goals in 1 game and lose and it’s not ok to blame Halak?
For the record I’m not blaming Halak for this one, but this double standard pisses me off when it comes to goaltending here.
the tying goal was gorges fault he backed up like most of the cap d have been doing all series gave halak no chance…the ot goal was a great shot it was like ak46 goal..snipers from that spot score a lot..if we had the technology to insert any goalie into that play very few if any would have stopped it.. the caps d and d coverage looks poor and we scored 8 goals on the with 5 forwards provide goal scoring..i pouliet is not one of those players that goes on a hot strike when traded and reverts back to what he allways was…he needs balance training for a pro he is bad…we cannot win this series unless the 3rd and 4th lines score some goals…the problem is the best offensive player on those lines is sk74 but he is not good enough to create goal scoring chances for himself and his passing skills is meaningless on those lines…this were the failure of gainey and the scouts come to light..we have not produce a 21,22,23 year old forward with any scoring abilities…
Ok so I’ve calmed down a bit. I still can’t believe the officiating though. Unbelievable.
Besides all the obvious non-calls, let’s not forget the two occasions that Washington players knocked their net off, one of which would’ve been a sure goal for Gio.
If this is the way this series is going to be run, I don’t even want to watch. This crap the refs pulled tonight is inexcusable. You can’t just start calling iffy ones when you’ve been letting em go all night but then finally decide it’s time when the Caps are down.
Goal number two, Knuble sits on Halak and helps them score.
Goal number three, somebody pushes our D right into Halak and they score.
Our guys have been trying so hard to fight off frustration tonight and these bastard refs keep pouring it on.
I can’t belive some of the people here either. It’s the Capitals.
They’re going to score goals. Yes, Halak was absolutely terrific in Game 1, but he won’t be able to save Habs’ bacon every single time. Big props to the top line for stepping up and producing 4 goals!
Such a dissapointing end, to be so close to closing that game out and shutting up some of the relentless critics. Just a really dissapointing outcome. I have argued many times against the ridiculous notion that their is some kind of conspiracy against the Habs from the refs and the league. On nights like this it’s pretty hard to make my point.
It’s clear that Washingtons plan after getting down a couple goals was to start running Halak, and I guess it worked.
Hal Gill’s interference penalty was nothing more then a good defensive play. I’m not sure what D men are supposed to do in that situation.
I guess we showed that we can score against these guys but man do they have some speed and power when they turn it on. It will be scary to hold on against their offence if it starts to click like it did in the third.
I just hope that our chances of an upset didn’t just get pissed away.
I hate the Caps so much. McGuire praises their scouting. Not too hard to put together a solid team when you continuously pick top 5. Trade away any roster players for draft picks at the deadline to ensure you tank and then just draft top talent every year.
The Habs had this game and ridiculously biased officiating and poor goaltending in the second half of the game cost them. I’m trying to study but I’m too damn pissed off.
Guy’s all the interference in this game is what happens every year in the playoffs. The difference is Habs management has failed in getting players that can play tough and play playoff hockey.
While I think there was a reason to to toronto for the call – it was very obvious after one look at it that it was not a goal by Pouliot. Why did it take 5 minutes?
Well Washingtom owes this overtime to the refs Halak is getting mugged and no calls. There was a clear cut penalty again the Caps before Cammy stupid play again and no call. If the Caps are going to be allowed to run Halak into the net like steroid boy did and no call why bother playing any more just give it to the Caps. I mean if the Caps are allowed to do what they are doing then Montreal does counrt to the refs. Three goals should not have counted this is becoming just another NHL joke.
Backstrom looks like a lesbian girls soccer coach! Just saying. AK is a beast!! Hope he does it again monday. Doesn’t the Caps coach look like the Fat guy in the Tool Video?
Can you explain a near perfect road game, They let the Caps back in a game that we should have won. Yes they were competitive, but its the playoffs you should be competitive. 6 goals is hardly a near perfect road game, IMO, but we all se things diferntly
Many are making comparisons to 1993. For those I note that VS has listed AK’s hattrick as the first Canadiens playoff hattrick since Eric Desjardins in 93 against LA.
This series is hanging on a thread right now. Our Dmen are starting to breakdown. We need to score early or get real lucky. There is still hope. One play could be the entire year.
Um JM has done nothing? Perry Pearn should get credit for his defense shutting down OV in game 1 and tonight would have been a completely different game if Theo wouldn’t have let in 2 goals on 2 shots. JM is an average to above average coach that has won nothing of substance in this league, ie a Stanley Cup, which the last time I checked was the standard we used to hold our team to.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
If I owned the Canadiens, I’d hire a video editor to capture every non-call where the refs have clear sight lines on the offence and run a website called nhlofficialssuck.com with videos of every ****-up, then have a seperate page where they’re compared to BS calls on my team that occured in the same game.
He was sreened, and this is his weak spot. But he has been good. He saved some big ones. This is Washington, and they are not playing badly. We just got to get the next one…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I’d go along with you except at this point in time I’d prefer not getting into an endless discussion with an enraged, alcohol-fueled Habs “fan” who will insist on blaming anything and everyone, mainly the coach, for what was a great entertaining game. So for now, let’s just say it was the bad ice…OK?
Never would have thought we’d be going into OT in game 2, leading the series 1-0. The Habs have played super hockey and they’re not giving up. I see the TSN panel of “experts” is now swinging back to favouring the Caps again, now that they caught us in the third. Good. It’ll be even more satisfying when we win.
I really can’t fault the Habs, it’s not so much that they’re folding as the Caps are rising. Hard to hold back the numer one team when they get on a roll.
Great game. Real playoff hockey. Either way it goes tonight I’m happy with our play and proud of the team.
Praising the Tanker teams for scouting is like congratulating a guy who chops his own arm off on a work site and calling him an entrepeneur when he gets a 3 million dollar settlement.
Fact: Halak had the puck in his pads on the third goal.
Fact: During the Habs’ last PP in the third period, Varlamov deliberately backed into the net after the puck popped up in the air and knocked it off the moorings.
Fact: Markov high-sticked in the face.
I have said it all year long – the NHL has a major credibility problem with its officiating. Tonight is merely Exhibit 3865.
That said, Gionta will score the winner.

Fellow Habs fans, relax and rejoyce. We are one goal away from taking a 2-0 lead in the series. The way we got here tonight is what it is, but here we are with a great chance to take a stranglehold on the series.

Well
this is very interesting indeed.Would love to read a little more of this.
Great post. Thanks for the heads-up…This blog was very informative and
knowledgeable
Dude, are you not watching this series???????? We are outscoring the Caps. What they got 100 more goals than us this season??????? Then explain the call on Gill. Why was THAT interference and not the others???????? WE FINALLY GOT GUYS WHO ARE OUT THERE DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES. And we are doing VERY WELL against the best team in the league…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Man, if the Habs can score the next goal and win it – they’ll have a HUGE advantage over the Caps. I might be stating the obvious, but it will be HUGE.
I guess it’s because Price was not facing the Caps, by far the highest scoring team in the league, and getting run all game.
Although Halak played a solid game and I don’t lay much blame on him, I do think he needed to have that one with less then 2 min left. Sure the Caps would have had powerplay and pulled their goalie for a 2 man advantage and it would have been a scary as hell end anyways, but it was a bit deflating after Cammy and Pleks got the surprising go ahead.
BS no way the Habs would be allowed to do that . I hope one of the Habs runs their goalie and they score and you watch how fast it will be called off. Hell look how fast they went up stairs after AK ‘s goal. How come they didn’t go upstairs on any of the Washington goal that were clear interference.
I guess the goals he prevented don’t count for much on your scorecard. He almost single handedly won the first game by standing on his head. A goalie has to keep his team close and give them a chance to win and he had done that. The Habs could have just as easily won in OT and been up two games. That is sports.
Hey, I’m as pissed as anyone that they pissed away a 4-1 lead, but they were supposed to be headed to the Bell Center Monday night 2-0 after getting smoked like hams. If this was the UEFA Champions’ League with its away-goal rules, we’d be shoe-ins to win it now.
Also reminds me of being up 5-2 against the Caps before the Olympic break, they tied it in the third, but we won in OT, and people here bashed Price relentlessly. But somehow if you question Halak you’re just a troll.
You need to look again if you think Hamrlik wasn’t screening him. Backstrom pulled his stick and shot it just around him. He was using him as a screen! It’s what good players do, Ovechkin does it all the time. It was a good shot, and if the D played like they had been it could have been another blocked shot
habs had a 3 goal lead and pissed it away. then they get a lead with less than 5 minutes to go in the game and piss that away. if you can’t win with a 3 goal lead, you don’t deserve to win the game.
this team is incapable of holding a lead. they always find ways to screw up.
Halak had a very bad night and shouldn’t have allowed the Ovechkin or Carlson goal.
but let’s face it. this team doesn’t know how to play with a lead. all season long did they ever have a 3 goal lead in a game? never!
this team has NO KILLER INSTINCT , and that’s why they will lose tonight.
What I want is for the Molsons to step up and support these guys by calling the NHL and the refs out just like the ownership did in Colorado. Its important these guy know that they won both these games and game two was stolden from them. Halak let the 5th goal in yes but he can’t be blamed for the other 4 sorry. Sorry Halak play well enough to win this team was cheated plain and simple. Ovie played better because his personal trainer from Russia brought the juice. I think everyone that goes to the game in Montreal should bring a white card with the rule number written on it for goalie interference. They can hold it up through out the game to remind the refs of a rule they forgot. The Molsons should have these cards made up and give them to the fans and ask them to hold them up to remind the refs of a rule they forgot.
ill tell you where we lose. fkin martin benchs SK for one msitake. what a lser martin can be. picks on his whipping boy. breaks up a solid third line, shortens bench. kills game plan. bs
Different seasons, different bars. The bar for Jaro wasn’t set quite so high. Did Price deserve the scorn? Probably not but then as you have said many times, deserve got nothin’ to do with it.
SK! JM has a temporary brain fart and allows Sergei on the ice. SK goes end to end and scores top shelf. JM makes note to self that SK is banished to the press box to make sure such a incredible mistake never happens again.
Yeah what are you a Pirate? Are Are!!! give them a break man, not too many teams in the playoffs can even beat Washington, we damn neer made it 2-0. we will seek revenge on the Holy Island!!
——-US Born Habs fan, Proud to be a traitor (when it comes to Hockey).
I’m actually delighted that we find ourselves in a position to come away with two victories after seven periods in Washington. Realistically, more that most of us were hoping for. Afterall, there has to be a reason the Caps finished 30 points ahead of the Habs in the regular season this year.
I just got done making this point to a buddy here. Instead of having a 3 goal lead we had a 2goal lead which is huge against a team like the Caps. The Caps should have been on their heels but instead they got a good 10 minutes to regain their composure, essentially a free timeout. Bull**** review completely ended this series.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
The Habs were robbed tonight. I hate using excuses to pardon shoddy play, but the Caps were given this game.
Caps goal #2 – interference on Halak, should be a penalty, no call inexplicably
Caps goal #3 – Ovechkin pushed Halak into the net – how the hell is that a goal
Caps goal #4 – I thought the Caps player pushed our guy into Halak which impeded his ability to both read the play and go side to side.
Caps goal #5 – This one pissed me off. How do you miss the high stick on Markov???? The goal wouldn’t have happened if they’d paid attention.
The last two goals by the Caps were good, although I expect Jaro to save those.
Either way, it shouldn’t have come down to that. Montreal deserved better. And for those who like to say ‘deserved’s got nothing to do with it,’ if the refs had done their job like they’re supposed so, Washington does not win, regardless of the shot count.
I hope we don’t get down and are hungry in Montreal.
It is called building up credit. Halak has been so money in so many games over an extended period of time that we give him some slack. Rightly or wrongly Price has not built up similar positive credits with the fans through consistent excellent play and wins.
Hating on Price has almost become the cool thing to do. I can just imagine what the reaction would have been if he had given up a 3 goal lead and lost 6-5.
That said, given Halak’s performance for the majority of the season, his play at the Olympics and Game 1, he deserves Game 3 to try to redeem himself.
The first Cammy slash was legit, but the second Ovechkin must have had a cracked stick. Cammy had his stick on the ice and Ovechkin’s follow through on the pass broke the stick. If they had wood sticks definately no call.
Knuble concerns me in this series, he is one of the best crease sitters in the entire NHL. If not for missing some time, he’d have been the 4th 30-goal scorer on Washington.
if OV starts his hitting game, he might get back into the game because bergeron and spacek aren’t big guys and might not be able to take OV’s physical game.
i can’t say enough about how much i hate that call. so you can hack at the other guy’s stick all night and it’s cool. but if his hi-tek carbon fiber space stick breaks, it’s two. stupid.
Caps much better team then Habs. Fact. Proven in every respect during the regular season. Playoffs, things have played out a little differently….so far. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Boone is correct.
That review on AK’s last goal was not needed. It was just a ploy by Boudreau to delay the game. Is there a penalty for that kind of thing and if not there should be.
I don’t see the last Caps goal as interference, I saw Gill trying to push Knuble off the same time the puck went pass Halak… it looked good, but heck Habs got the lead anyways.
They were reviewing the Pouliot crease crash where the puck was between his legs while he was in there. If coaches had the power to call for goal reviews, we’d have put the Pittsburgh game into OT earlier this year.
Agreed. I see good in all this so far. The Habs played maybe the strongest games of the season, great skating, pretty good coming out of their own end (except in the 3rd when they tried to many stretch passes), blocking shots again. The Caps just cranked it up a a couple of notches and we backed up a few steps. Monday, no backing up. Press and check like we did in game 1 and the first 2 periods tonight.
The comments here seem to indicate some confusion. The review after Kostitsyn’s goal was to determine if Pouliot had scored earlier in the play. Props to TSN for calling calling that one.
I’m going to go with the last Caps goal as a positive, as it will save us from the Habs’ clunky version of The Trap in the third. (Sorry, best I can do.)
I agree with you. So would Patrick with his 1986 gear. He and his equipment had to get wider over the course of his career to give him a fighting chance.
I don’t trust NHL REF. Our goal was a clean goal and they reviewed it for a long time. They interfered with Halak and the REF. didn’t review it at all.
This is honestly the most depressing game for me since Game 2, Playoffs 2006 when Koivu had a stick put in his eye with no call, you knew the team would need multiple miracles after losing their heart, which they didn’t get/make.
Penguins went with “Defy Ordinary” for their campaign this year, I think our campaign must be “Defy the entire ****ing NHL.”
I think the delay had something to do with reviewing a previous play where Pleks’ shot hit the crossbar. I was watching on Vs. and they didn’t show a replay of it.
They will win both games in Montreal because the city of Montreal will will them to do so. We’re not like those bandwagoners in Washington who only make noise after a goal is scored, or when they are instructed to on the scoreboard
Gotta hand it to JM. He’s winning the coaching battle big time in this series. His matchups are impeccable and so far has had the right personnel on the ice at the right times.
Can all the fans in at the Bell centre after they drink their beer fill the cup with , you know what and throw it at Dickhead Macquire. Macquire is in love with Ovie he has thing for big strong Russian men that are full of steroids.
HabsFanin Victoria I could not have said it better GREAT POST………Habs played a great game but they do not be able to hold on when the last 2 min. arrive , I can’t figure it out. It is the most scarey part of the game when they have a lead………………GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!&HANG ON tight if we get a lead in the nexr game.
in my mind, if you get into the playoffs, you have the same chance as anybody. I don’t see why I should have low expectations. The New York Giants are my team , and I have high expectations for them every year. When they beat the Patriots, no one thought they would even make the Super Bowl, but once your in the playoffs reach for the gold….on in this case the Silver of Stanley.
Why are we blaming the stoppage? There are commercial breaks all the time.
Please, if anything it’s the damned crappy refs who are killing this game. I can’t believe there was no goaltender interference with Knuble on top of Halak TWICE FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like I’m losing my mind because not many of you realize how insanely inept these refs are!
Other nights, I just vent on them but this time it’s absolutely unforgiveable and blatant!
We’re not getting any calls on Halak because we already had two PPs and the NHL can’t be happy that Ovechkin’s team is down at home when already down 0-1 in the series.
Wow. Saturday night hockey with no All Leafs all the time bias, no “I’m Smarter than anyone in hockey and I’m a Jr. C Referee” Ron MacLean….A guy on the panel that actually Won a Stanley Cup. Bravo TSN.
Yeah, the refs made a serious mistake in the end of 2nd by calling the Poulliot hand pass, too, eliminating a sure goal for Caps. So it goes both ways and in the end usually evens out…
You know what makes me happy? Sure we have to be worried about shutting down Ovie, Semin and Backstrom, but they have to be worried about shutting down Plecks, Cammy and AK. Isn’t that nice?
Complete horse **** but whatever. It has nothing to do with a fake “credit” that you just pulled out of your ass, and everything to do with being the underdog. It’s why Huet was loved more than Theo, it’s why Price was temporarily loved more than Huet, it’s why Halak is now loved more than Price. It’s typical stupidity of a city that loves to tear goalies to pieces.
You mean the first very good 18 months of his NHL career was not made up of consistent good play and wins? And the stuff before that as well? I will agree that the 2nd 18 months pissed away the positive credit he built up.
True but the Caps are definitely counting their lucky stars that they’re not going to the craziest building in the league down 2-0. They know they dodged a huge bullet, there’s no way something like what transpired tonight happens again this series. For the Habs this game should be forgotten about now, we’re still well in this series, and showed tonight that our guys can score and fight for the puck along the boards even with size mismatchs and come out with the puck. Hell Gionta has knocked Ovie on his rear twice this series with some great hits. Everyone’s been stepping up which is very encouraging going forward.
again i say its martin loss. shortens bench after a bad shift by sk and he ruins the game. team cant keep their style of play going, and what does that say to your players? you’re not good enough to be on the ice anymore, even though you have been playing great hockey for teh last 5 periods. f u martin. inspire confidence in ur team, dont shoot it in the foot

That was hilarious, how do the officials sleep at night? That could have easily gone the other way, hope our boys don’t get discouraged, this isn’t over.
The NHL only cares about making fans, not keeping them
It’s one thing to criticize all things Habs and voice your opinion about everything that happens within the organization but dropping a massively depressing bombshell like that just isn’t right!!
What the hell is with these refs? Determined to kill our momentum and basically decide the game. WTF>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This definately reflects how I feel after this game, but you’re usually much more analytical and logical than your article. Thanks for validating my feelings!
okay fine. we all saw what just happened and exactly how it happened. everybody knows that if anybody got “lucky” tonight, it was the caps. you really can see how people can believe the conspiracy, i mean really? where’s chris lee when ya need him?
Halak did not look good on those last two. But we shouldn’t have even been there. They crashed him, bumped him, impeded him all night with impunity. The refs were told. The Caps were not to lose two at home. The league wants a Crosby Ovechkin matchup and they will do whatever it takes to get one.
Look at tonight’s game — two of the Caps’ goals were questionable, the Ovy and Knuble goals. You take those away, and it’s 5-2. You don’t, it’s still 5-4.
So what does class have anything to do with it?
Caps were a better REGULAR SEASON team. Fact.
What evidence do you have that they are a better PLAYOFF SEASON team? The score tonight? The score in game 1?
Pretty common move on a unbeatable goalie. Crash the net and interfere with him and look for garbage goals. Habs still are in the driver’s seat, just have to weather the first few minutes of the period and this PK.
Everybody chill out. Our boys have come to play and if they continue to play this way it will be a long and exciting series. JM and the boys have to suck it up and forget about this game. Game 3 is the most important game. PP has to get better and Cammy has to shoot more. This was a weird game. Gionta’s goal was soft and AK46′s third goal was fortunate. Knuble interfered with Halak but it wasn’t called. Happens. Forget get and move forward. 1-1. We were supposed to be squashed remember? If this were last year’s version it would be 0-2 and embarrassing. I’m proud of this team.
How is this loss on Martin? THe game tying goal would have been stopped by a 10 year old. The game should have been over. Martin was not in net tonght. Halak was brutal plain and simple. Halak lost this game not Martin.
i’m just saying, i and likely many here would appreciate it if people refrained from using capitals in their posts for the next little while. just seems like bad form
I guess if we keep our expectations low, then we can’t be disappointed, eh?
Halak was by no means “terrible”. He was bad on some plays. Superb on others. That last goal was essentially a break-away, the way the defense were backing up.
The Caps this season have not had to face adversity like the Habs have had to, both on individual levels and on a team level. Gionta, Cammi, AK, Gomez are used to pressure and used to finding the will to come back. Can we say as much for the Caps when just pure talent doesn’t pull them through? We’ll see.
remember last time we came back to the bell being up 2-0?
carolina wins 4 straight. eek.
the new generation habs are fond of losing 4 straight in the playoffs
see; philly, boston and tampa in 04!
if pouliot clicked with his limated like he did when he first came here, and cammy and kostitsyn played like they did before kostsyn got injures, and if max played like he did last season, and sergei played like he did in his first proseason, and if moen played like he did when he won the cup.. WATCH OUT!

Don’t anyone kid themselves. Tonight’s game will be the pivotal match of the series.
LOCKER ROOM MATERIAL FROM THE WASHINGTON POST:
“The Caps… as yet, they haven’t made the Canadiens
regret their childhood decisions to pursue such a violent sport.”
“Finally, the Caps have gotten into minor tiffs with Montreal in the
media. Stop it. Ignore them. In the Napoleonic Army, duels were only
allowed between officers of equal rank. You can’t let a captain shoot a
general over a trifle. Why are the Caps fussing with Plekanec, whose 25
goals would tie him with Laich for fifth place on Washington’s
powerhouse roster?”

AWESOME to see the Red Line
Big game by AK46 tonight, 2 goals. Ovechkin will score one and the Habs will go up 2-0 in the series.
I’m expecting an explosive game on both sides!
Word.

As I commented on the other thread:
So sad to see a viable franchise with such dedicated fan support choke
at such an inoppotune moment in their history. The unraveling of this
team will have a disastrous effect on the scores, nay dare I say
hundreds, of dedicated Caps fans. I just hope Ovie and BB can keep
their obvious distaste for eachother out of the public spotlight…for
the good of the game. Oh the shame, the shame.

i gotta say sergei has been one of our most consistent players since the olympics. he’s done everything asked of him…although he tries some cute plays here and there that could land him in trouble, but he moves the puck, controls, the puck and has the responsibility on the 3rd line that suits him. he’s going to be a great 2 way player!

Or the Thomas Jagr fan page…. It went from 150 fans to 817 in under 36 hours! Check the fan pics, there’s one of Jaromir and Pleky. Hilarious.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Tommy, I can only wish for the same fun that Jim and I had watching the last one. We do have the horses, just hope they play 100% from first whistle to last.
Well the CBC is off to a rip snorting start….Ron McLean just said that the Sabres will try to be the only team to take 2 games to none lead, as all the other series are tied at 1-1 with the exception of Nashville/Chicago which only started last night. Hmmmm….did the Habs play this morning and lose?
lol..great pic.
iam expecting the caps to design a play early on and have OV score it thereby getting that pitbull into the game and get his mojo back. we must play same way we did thursday and stay out of the box in order to avoid a potential slaughter. we have character and experience to be calm but the caps are itching to pound us when they get a chance. come on boys hang tough.
If Pouliot ,AK and Darche go nuts the games in the bag………
HA HA Love the pic!
Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Disorder is a disease than can treated.
Yah it was freakin unbelievable!!
Saku was having a dynamite series also
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
OOPS – you’re right. Was thinking of the other Mtl vs Car series that went to 6 games. 2002, second round.
The canes went from 1st round sweep to stanley cup champs.
Optimism:
Les Boys have confidence going into this game.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
It would sure be nice to see that somnambulant Belorussian come back to life. His wicked wrister is much needed.
actually it was huet, but same difference.
We were actually leading in Game 3 when Williams high sticked Koivu in the face. That shifted the entire series.
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
Yikes, don’t remind me! But do you remember who was in nets for those 4 straight losses?? Yup, our old pal Theo, who is now about 190 feet at the OTHER end of the rink.
Jaro The Wall is undefeated when facing 45 shots or more. I believe he has 8 wins at that rate of bombardment. That says two significant things to me:
All to say that I hope and pray that JM doesn’t revert to his one forechecker, kitty-bar-the-door tentative style of defensive hockey. These thoroughbreds need to run. Flow is our game. And hammer that weak Caps D with at least two forecheckers.
Markov, wake up bud.
Meh Markov playing … meh.
Hit the tape, Boys
Habs really doing a good job closing space
Spacek is a beast.
Bring back Theo, we promise to play easy…
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhloppy
i know, alot of their passes on the breakout are either in the skates, behind or too far ahead.
Geez…what a play by Gomer.
Pouliot has been an absolute stud on the backcheck!
Anyone get a feeling that last grabbed them in 2006 after that Varlamov stop?
Also, does this team just hit an entirely different gear in playoffs or what?

AK46 blatantly fell over. Something.

Gio reminds me of Henri Richard.
Ummmm…..Offside there by 5 feet…..
man markov stops moving his feet way too often
…and CBC past on this!?!?! What a joke!
Ovie with the interference.
We need better goaltending than we have been getting in the playoffs the last few years. Halak was not good tonight, specifically on the tying goal and in OT.
Sounds good to me!!
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
Sorry, but 2 good playoff games does not suddenly make everyone forget how mediocre these guys were all season.
Either way – this can’t be happening can it? How can this be happening? If we win this . . .
Hmmmmmm Subban, Pacioretti and Weber??
Alright!
Habs looked tired in the third. Jaro wasn’t great but he wasn’t as bad as some people are making it. Cammy has to start controlling his stick.
I HATE THAT CALL! Slash the stick and if it does not break it is no call, but if it breaks it is an automatic penalty. DUMBASS!
Habs/Van? Would be sweet!

Pouliot needs to get his head out of his @ss big time…he is barely a 4th liner right now…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
this period is going to define series
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watch the highlight of the tying goal…..WAS player on the far side was offside. One skate over the line and the other in the air….never should have counted!!! Just another missed call from the g.d officiating tonight!
I agree with that completely. The fix is definately on in this league and when it is found out it is going to devestate the sport we all love.
why would he want that
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Well…glass half full (three-quarters, even) – if we score one more goal, we lead 2-0. Pretty sweet, actually!

Which 3 are you thinking? Subban, Weber, Trotter? Maybe Desharnais gets a shot?
F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong post
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Oh well – c’mon Habs, fight your way through!
The turning point of the game was the Gomez fight. That PP with him in
the box totally changed the momentum.
I can’t take it
A lot of people here are too negative! Habs have been playing really well. Do any of you realize that the Habs just took the league’s best team to OT twice in their own builiding. Hoping for the Habs’ to make some noise in Montreal. Halak was shaky in this game and I have no doubt that he wants to improve on his performance. Go Habs Go!
Big props to top line of Cammalleri-Plekanec-Andrei Kostitsyn for producing 4 goals!
will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
Exactly…sober words dude. Don’t get me wrong I love what is happening but we are a long way from a Cup contender.
Halak COME THE F ON!

Can we just kill time or smtg.ayaayyayayyy i can’t stand this no more
jesus christ
This period can define this series.
Why was Cammy on the ice, a guy who doesn’t kill penalties and shouldn’t be there to close?
And contrary to what everyone is posting: Halak was NOT TERRIBLE tonight. He was AVERAGE (at best).
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
He would have approved of tonight’s officiating.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
A lot of serious injuries this year
Again? oy vey, I can’t take it
It ain’t over. It’s now a best of five series. Win at home now.

In Guy Boucher I trust.
100% agree man. 100%
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Had to say it!
Halak has to have that…..
I would like to donkey punch both referees at this time.
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
A little hyperbole Timo? LOL Come on dude there have been a long list of crushing losses since 1993.
CRAP, my heart cant take this……..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Terrible. All around just brutal. Why the hell do you back in like that? Jaro couldn’t see shit.
They moved OV to the right side to get away from Spacek and play against Hamrlik. Hammer was -3 and we know how OV did. Gotta fix that next game somehow…..I’ll leave that to coach.
I disagree…I think they are consistently biased against the Canadian teams.

“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
I know! I’m very proud of OUR team, but this sucks when you deserve the W!!!
I’m really not one for ref conspiracies, I just believe that most of the time the officiating in the NHL is piss poor, but you make some very very good points.
do i get more information on this
Me too…I do think we can take the Caps tonight…they are going to have to back off with their goaltending or pay for it…Wonder what Elmer Fudd will do?….
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
OK …I HAVE ALWAYS CALLED BS ON THE REF CONSPIRACY. BUT NO CALL ON THAT HIGH STICK???? WTF?????
Is the game plan to blame the coach for everything?
I know. But it happened and it’s over. Winning teams find ways to overcome tough losses. We need to keep the pressure on the Caps and they only way to do that is to not let the officiating get inside our heads. If we do it becomes an excuse. And we all know that excuses are for….
They were reviewing Pouliot’s chip shot that trickled across the varlemov’s shoulders
at either rate it would have been a Habs goal…time would have just been put back on the clock

Unreal game.
That’s right. That and all the bad calls by the crooked refs.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Dave – I also have to give credit where credit is due. MAB has been solid for both games. Kudos to Martin for a good call.
Halak is not a #1 goalie.
Average just aint good enough in the playoffs!
Just ask Chicago!

I am as pessimistic as anyone, but I can see the Habs splitting at home. BUT it better be game three, because if the Caps win the next game I think they will win four in a row.
killed but not dead
Thats twice Cammy, are you that f**king dumb. We clearly don’t want to win.
We commented on the exact same thing PT. The officiating was just horrific tonight. Completely dictated the outcome of this game.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
That video review took so long because they were contacting the West Coast to see what Lee thought of the play!
It will cost you a beer at next year’s Summit:-)
Of course the’d call that. F’ing bush league!
——-US Born Habs fan, Proud to be a traitor (when it comes to Hockey).
how mike green could possibly have his name on a trophy with the likes of lidstrom is unreal
Can’t blame the refs for that one.

MORE INTERFERNCE!!!!!!!
That’s silly.
Ovechkin…man I dislike him a lot when he plays against the Habs.
well that was fast, go away please
we gotta go the same thing to varlymov
This cannot be happening. It can’t.
never mind
Dude, I can’t afford more than two sticks a season. If someone broke one of my sticks I would seriously have a fit. If I broke a dudes stick I would feel equally bad. Probably why it only happens with frequency in the NHL. LOL
HAhahaha BS
Watch it again. Completely screened. Jorges caught halfway and flamingo’d right in front of Jaro.
Since when was the book on Halak “high, glove-side”??? That is the book on Price, the book on Halak is take advantage of his lack of rebound control….

100% agree once again. The players have to get this game out of their heads asap. I do think either JM or upper management should address the goaltender interference though because it’s definitely a serious issue. Let’s hope Habs nation rattles the walls at the Bell Centre this week and shakes the ghosts out of their deep slumber!!

http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I agree that pitiful PP was a momentum changing event. It was a coaching decision I think, indicated by putting DARCHE on the PP. JM wanted to prevent a CAPS goal rather than press for another goal. There was no sense that the Habs wanted to put offensive pressure on the Caps. I was screaming at my TV about how stupid this was.
Darche made a mistake that directly lead to a goal and JM puts him on the PP. SK is unfortunate to be on the ice when that goal was scored and his benched.
You’re real tough Ovechkin – showing your manhood..going after Gionta..
Going to OT sucks!

It mattered not how well we played tonight. We all said here, when the score became 4-1 Habs, that the officials would call crap penalties (or non-calls) to create a chance for the Caps to catch up.

Blame Halak all you want but it would be nice if our defence would stand people up at the blueline. Hamrlik kept on backing up and Backstrom used him as a screen. Ya can’t let guys come in like that.
Thanks you, tha’s how I see it!
Apparently, not everyone does.
No GOMEZ!! you’re needed on the ice…
and that was good goal…
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
i cant believe what the caps get away with…. it’s absolute crap
Darche couldn’t clear… SK went for a skate… Markov bad pass.
WAKE UP
9 more OT’s to go (I think)
Are you talking about the entire team? They did their part in scoring five goals and holding the Caps…
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
Gomez!!!!
I’m sure somewhere, Gary Bettman is smiling and shaking
So I guess the success of Halak this SEASON is because the rest of the league are just dumb! Give it a break!
Bad trade off…stupid of Gomez to fight.

OK maybe it wasnt

Really weak defense in the 3rd period.
Oh well, happens. C’mon Habs and Halak! Play your hearts out in OT!
I wonder if the NHL Officating will ever really be brought under real scrutiny. CBC will declare war on anyone who questions them it seems because Ron used to be an official once upon a time so it’ll be a long bloody fight, with the complainants being called a bunch of crybabies who want to wimp the game up.

Headbutting on Jaro
This is unreal. Who are these (@#%&@#%&(@$%@$* refs!>????!!!!!!!!!!!
You and me both – so I just created my own. Feel free to use. ;o)
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
How can there be no penalty on taking Benny’s feet from under him?? No play by Green on the puck.
That last goal should have been stopped. No screen no nothing.
JM needs to blow a gasket and put pressure on the refs, because this is a disgrace. How much abuse is Halak supposed to take?
seriously?
and whats up with Caps charging the net? and no call?
yep but Jaro needed to hang on to that
if I don’t post in the next 10 minutes, please call 911 and send them to my place…
oy oy oy…
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
I say Habs in 6
Hilarious.
(Weather forecast is sunny and 14C on Monday. Going to get a round in before the game just to calm the nerves. Did you get out this week?)
Do not need a Top 2 centre taking 5 in the box dammit.

ooooh caaaaaaaaaaammmon
i can’t take this
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Absolute horseshit call – Halak was on top of the puck.
Booner “Pouliot, who’s played great…” Sorry, I’m just not seein’ it.
Anybody wants to break out of this funk…there’s a great Blue Rodeo live concert on CMT tonight. It’s making me feel better.
take a look at the post game reacts. these boys arent down.
they’re confident in what they’ve done and what they can do
i think i am waking up from that dream… what happened???????????????
He hasn’t been at fault for any goal he’s let in so far in this series, but at that point in the game, with this much at stake, I could care less if he was screened. He has to fight to see the puck and stop that, no excuses.
What can possibly be “calculated” about an immediate and emotion response?
Washington really shouldn’t get away with 7-on-5 for an entire playoff series.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
A couple of things:
Halak:not to blame, but 6 goals against is not a good night.
We scored as many goals tongith as we did all last playoffs.
If we play like this we have a good chance of winning this series
Andrei played like a man
Backstrom is a machine
Gomez is going to take us through this series (I hope)
Wow, real old school eh? lol
Yeah Easton Synergy sticks go for around 350 but I managed to get two for 275 each.
The turning point was the wasted time on the review following AK’s 3rd goal giving Boudreau time to settle his team down.
Jaro has been great and we aren’t up tied at 1 game without him but the last 2 were soft and both camps on the goalie debate can’t argue that.
GOOD….SCORE SCORE SCORE
This league is a joke.
High Stick Markov with the Habs up 5-4 no call.
Washington scores to tie the game.
I guess Bettman is more worried about Leonsis and his “Ted’s Takes” blogs than integrity in officiating.
Oh, by the way, O’Halloran, you suck.
in a playoff game the goalie has stop those shots, he let in at least 3 weak goals and if it had been price that let those in i’d say the same thing
Make up call
at least i won my bet… caps were favoured by 1.5.. i bet on habs…
although it will not make me feel good whatsoever if they lose
in a playoff game the goalie has stop those shots, he let in at least 3 weak goals and if it had been price that let those in i’d say the same thing
Crush them now.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Hurray! we get a point!
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
team played well at times but it will be hard to win this series as our 3rd and 4th lines are gritty but dont have any scoring touch…pouliot is becoming the little girl of the playoffs
I can get at least two dozen Sherwoods for that amount. And, I get a workout from carrying a heavier stick.
Disagree….he was defending Gio.
5 sh*t goals… FFS!!!!!!!!!!!! Halak looks scared… not liking our chances as the Caps are flying. Mcguire has a huge hard on for Carlson right now holy sh*t!
Ironic that the right side is Spacek’s natural position.
I remember the Sherwoods. Real hard, heavy stick.
Halak muffed that last one, but he’ll win us the game.
GO HABSSSS =)
lmao!
We need to make them pay here.
Something needs to be done, there’s no doubt about it. I was so disgusted tonight, I could barely watch.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Thats good to here, now show it on the ice and scoreboard after a full 60 minutes or longer on Monday.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Disagree. Puck was loose. Halak didn’t have control.
Halak 3 goals more today on 11 less shots…
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Wow…look at all the sore losers chanting for Price here…cheer for the friggin team, people!

Will somebody please pull the hands away from Jaro’s neck, he needs to be there for game 3
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Wasn’t it absolutely obvious that with washington behind there were going to be catch-up calls?
The great Ape smashing into Halak with no call?
I just hope that the quiet GM ( the ghost) has some words with the Official supervisor about the non-calls in this one??
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
He may be switched like Theo was if he crumbles in game three…
Hey. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do to win. Carey Price will be eager to prove himself it the chance comes up. With two good goalies we shouldn’t hesitate.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I like the 105s because they do not bend. I try to take a slapshot with an 85 flex and the damn thing turns into a noodle.
Next goal is HUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot blame the refs for this…the Cammy slashing penalties were pretty legit and the Pouliot tripping was being called on the Caps all night…besides, the Habs killed all the penalties…
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
where is sergei?
did he not tape his stick right so he is benched?
They need to breathe, drink something cold and go out with clear minds, ready to win this. And the Annie commercial is on again.
the issue is the habs should have been on the PP because Markov got high sticked right before that
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Because not calling shenanigans, but I just really truly bluely do not see how sitting on Halak in a scrum, or shoving him to the ice when the puck is 20 feet away, are not both instant penalties…
i didnt realize the goalie could just knock the net off if he doesnt know where the puck is
I’m a lot more worried about the next two games in Mtl. than this game! Can we play all 4 in Washington.
Wow..PP not the same without Gomez
hey another OT win for the Habs. What better way to finish them off an go back to Montreal. What a better way to finish them off!!
Are we on the PP or what!!!!!
Must have been tough to wait almost two whole games before you had a chance to say something inane.
He was very good for the first half of the game and then very bad for the second half so I guess you could say average.
darche on PP? what?
I predict that the next team to score will win the game.
The Caps lost 5 games at home this season. The fact that the Habs split is nothing short of a miracle. The way some people are commenting you would think the Habs were the favorites and that Halak blew it. Delusional much?
Puck was between his pads, 9/10 times there’s a quick whistle. Not to mention that Ovechkin pushed Halak into the net after for good measure, which is a penalty AND poor sportsmanship.
this is why we neeed a guy like, ott, downie, lucic or hell even avery get in ovechkins head and make him go back in his cave
.::moen for captain::.
Will anybody give JM credit for what he’s done with this team in this series? Or are we all so set in our ways at blaming him for everything that goes wrong…
When the Caps get their PP, they’re not gonna suck like this…
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Keep with the program, people. They actually have their hearts in it. What a difference from the regular season.

not a good night to quit biting my nails.

……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
JM, halak refs.
Throw the blame wherever you want guys, we
played a near perfect road game against arguably the best team in the
world. Our boys worked there asses off and no one out there should have
to shoulder any blame what so ever.
Bring on Game 3
these last 13 minutes are going to suck bad.
We will do it in OT…lol
The winning goal is on Hamrlik as much as anyone. The whole game our D is not backing in allowing them to get easy shots from dangerous areas. What happened on the last two goals Washington scored?
I’ve seen this movie before…..
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Unbelievable. It’s Halak tonight, and it’s Halak this year, people need to grow up.
Its not like that really, it is what it is, 4-1 lead and they choked, I love this team but this was unacceptable. Can they win, I don’t know but if they cant hold a three goal lead , the answer is no
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Just imagine what Al McInnis would have done using one of those things?
Darche on the PP???? Okay, you flubbed a clearing pass, now let’s put you on the PP?? Come on.
Blame them for poor calls.
Passive aggressive sitting on a one goal lead, let’s see who amongst us has nerves of steel.
wow.. so a high stick on markov and no call.. what a surprise
and then the caps come back and score
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
so ovie pushes halak in.. and that’s ok
when morrison knocks his net of on prupose that’s cool to
must be nice to have your own rulebook if you are teh capitals

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
They should not have lost the game. That’s the point. A championship team finds a way to win. this game.
The coach should be pissed, the players should be pissed and the fans deserve to be pissed.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Darche ‘s play just as bad as Markovs and he get PP time, don’t get that
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
No Andrew, it was still alive between his pads and still in view of the ref so it’s alive. The rest is not valid because Ovie opushed Halak after the ouck went in. I’m ticked too but it wasn’t a missed call this time. Check the replays again. Whatever…it’s a goal. Let’s get it back
habs are a joke.
habs will lose this game and the next 3. why?
because they don’t have a killer instinct. JM’s fault!
next goal will decide the seires
.::moen for captain::.
Is that right? Wow, I never knew that but it makes sense.
I thought I just had weak wrists….lol.
Thank god for McEwans Scotch beer to help us through these times!!
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
They usually are in OT periods…
They haven’t been able to protect a lead all year. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach all night becasue we have seen all season long the same lak of killer instinct/finish with this team.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
I was about to post the same thing.
holy sh**!!! How do you know that??
Halak should start game 3. I think he’ll rebound, but who knows. If he doesn’t go with Price in game 4.
i dont, i feel like i am going to puke
20 minute intermission before overtime?
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I’m with you. They should be pissed. But hopefully they channel that in the right direction.
I sense Timo posting soon and that won’t be a good thing in respect to the game.
Do you ever shut up?

The game turned when, for whatever reason, the Toronto war room decided to wait half an hour to review the Pouliot non-goal.
Montreal had the momentum, but that mini intermission gave Washington the chance to regroup.
A total BS decision that impacted the series in a negative manner for Montreal.
But then again, the last time Montreal played an IT Billionaire’s team, the Team’s captain nearly lost his eye.
Complete and total non sense.
We’ll see whether Molson has any balls to complain to the league about that obvious interference by the league.
At least MacT mentions the goalie interference by the Caps.
The fact that Hockey people are in charge means that nothing will change.
get off your computer dude… you contribute absolutely nothing
This is going to be more painfully long then listening to the walton’s say goodnight to each other.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cp7_u0kcQRo
Love Halak, but just saw the replay, and ayoy…that was SOFT. What a bad time for a bad goal. DAMMIT!
Hey, wagoneers. Don’t bail yet. Wagons ho!!!
The weakest part of the NHL product is the refereing
I really want Lapierre to obliterate Varlamov, crash him so hard the net hits the boards.
It’s a gift.
Ok so I’ve calmed down a bit. I still can’t believe the officiating though. Unbelievable.
Besides all the obvious non-calls, let’s not forget the two occasions that Washington players knocked their net off, one of which would’ve been a sure goal for Gio.
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
um… bye bye
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
Delusional? Maybe…but in OT, Halak should’ve had that.
Comments turned off between periods to not bring down the web site.
Going “Old Testiment” on us?
I’m eating and eating, to fill in the pain…:( oh wow that sounds dramatic lol
your cred is shot from ur previous predictions.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
everyone remember : we’re suposed to lose
that should lower our collective blood pressures
Most of the series are even at 1-1. Now, the Habs have to play a best of five with the home-ice advantage. So much for winning the President’s Trophy.
I’d rather he score a fugly one.
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
even if they win the series they are going no where with that defense and the goalies
.::moen for captain::.
Pound Semin into dust already. He’s a wimp!
We gave it to them? Are “we” the refs, then?
_________________

Uh Oh!
Except the refs.
You’re right, we DID work our asses off and we outplayed them. We should be heading home 2-0.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
yeah, still didn’t help GOOOOOO!!!!!!
Guy’s all the interference in this game is what happens every year in the playoffs. The difference is Habs management has failed in getting players that can play tough and play playoff hockey.
Halak needs to start game 3, but 5 goals against on 15 shots in 22 minutes of play… That’s pathetic. I would expect more from Curtis Sanford.
F%#%Q#%*%%%*%Q*%*
That’s a tad over the top Timo.
While I think there was a reason to to toronto for the call – it was very obvious after one look at it that it was not a goal by Pouliot. Why did it take 5 minutes?
3 unanswered goals…wow
CMON HABS!

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
HAT TRICK BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Thank you refs for leaving your crapstains on this game again, assholes.
He obviously lacks the vision, speed, and all round skill of Darche. That is why he gets zero PP and 10 minutes of ice time a game.
Many are making comparisons to 1993. For those I note that VS has listed AK’s hattrick as the first Canadiens playoff hattrick since Eric Desjardins in 93 against LA.
Sooo … OT anyone.
This series is hanging on a thread right now. Our Dmen are starting to breakdown. We need to score early or get real lucky. There is still hope. One play could be the entire year.
Gionta scores in overtime.
Hat trick!
I BLAME THIS ON YOU BOONE. ALL ON YOU.
Tied game very soon.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Cammi breaking sticks isnt the way to win games.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

Lets see if Boone can even say Kostitsyns name after getting his hat trick..
more interference
He means shots by David Less…
It probably has everything to do with the marquee billing Price received compared to Halak. It’s not fair at all, but that’s the way it is.
what the heck could they possibly be reviewing here?
AGAIN pushing our guys into Halak, WHAT THE HELL!?>!?>!
Whatever… no more posting.
Only watching.
Game on boys and girls.
Jagr - do your thing
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
AK looks like he eats 4 big macs after every game.
Ouch!!!!
If this team has any heart they need to dig deep…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Im starting to think that we just not meant to win this one, to many glaring mistakes
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I’m the opposite, too upset to put food in my mouth….
Still proud of les boys tonight though. GO HABS GO!
Who’s Caps #52? Now that guy is a dumb*ss.
HABS JUST LOSS THIS SERIES! PIECE OF S@#$%^TEAM!
i have to disagree with that… the interference with the goalie is not a part of playoff hockey
Hat Trick for AK46!
Was going to happen eventually.
Thanks Punkster and Himself for the positive vibes.
well that sucks
That broken-composite-stick penalty is just rubbish!
would like to read more of your blogs and to share my thoughts with you
WTF? clearly a goal.

Oh, and Gomez too. Shouldn’t have fought. Made us waste a PP, and then suck afterwards.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
Great Ape?…….that is simply awesome. LMAO
And don’t forget the tripping calls that were missed, and the interference calls….there were SEVERAL.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Can it get any better…WOW…Who would have guessed…Go Habs Go!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Go Habs Go!
Praising the Tanker teams for scouting is like congratulating a guy who chops his own arm off on a work site and calling him an entrepeneur when he gets a 3 million dollar settlement.

Hat for AK46
that power play killed it
You need a serious head shaping - I hear they’re starting a capsinside out website - maybe that’s where you should be braying your comments, donkey.
I say F*ck em’ Go for round 3 boys. Keep the faith!
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
cummon boone, a playoff hat trick? cummon boone, you love it!
Our lack of size is starting to really show.
Fact: Goaltender interference on the second goal.

Must be a good goal!
JM should call a time out and try to give the team a chance to try and regroup.

Fellow Habs fans, relax and rejoyce. We are one goal away from taking a 2-0 lead in the series. The way we got here tonight is what it is, but here we are with a great chance to take a stranglehold on the series.

That and 3 of the Capitals 6 goals were clear cut goalie interference on any team without Ovechkin on the roster.
They’re checking to see if Pouliot had already scored earlier in the play.
FU Ref
I’m too young to have a heart attack!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
If we get a lead and hold it to win game 3 that problem is solved.
Halak should start game 3 but if WAS gets a another couple of easy ones early the next game then JM needs to make a switch.
I think they’re reviewing to see if Pouliot’s shot went in and then they’d wind the clock back.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
these refs need to be taken out back and shot in the face
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
this where bad drafting catches up as we have ak46 and plecks and the rest of players are are gritty but have shown minimal goal scoring ability …
What the hell can be taking so long, it obvious
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Weak call!

The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.
halak looks shakier than a maraca.
washington only needs 2 or 3 more shots…
Still not over….3 goals leads with lots of time left can play with your mind.
of course, now the refs pull a weak call out of their asses.
NHL = FIFA!!!
He’s played great and deserves to stay in, washington is lethal and it showed.
but we all know if that was carey in their he’d be burned at the stake
this is very interesting indeed.Would love to read a little more of this.
Great post. Thanks for the heads-up…This blog was very informative and
knowledgeable
bettman and co are trying to screw the habs

We have just been jobbed….

“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:

what are they reviewing??/
that’s a freakin goal baby
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Wow, total breakdown.
I would not wish injury (or plague) upon an opposing player … and you wish it upon the team you allegedly follow?
Posting more does not make one smarter. Please go cheer for the Leafs and leave this board.
AK is a beastly looking dude, huh. Belarus Bandit!!
——-US Born Habs fan, Proud to be a traitor (when it comes to Hockey).
AK and SK – huge smiles – great to see.
fuc that.. .that’s unreal… game over
Tell that to the Red Wings, 5-10 goals a year called back because of lesser interference by Holmstrom than what the Caps have done tonight.
Wowww!!
-Have we dominated or what??
-Have we been dangerous or what??
-Have we spent more time in the Caps ice or what??
Now THAT was a terrible call.
Exactly!
You can see AK46 pants move in the replay. GO HABS GO!
HOLY OLD FUCK REF!!!
Hope JM has them all listening to the final countdown

Why, oh why, did I miss this game? Go Habs Go!
My man, Andrei Kostitsyn showed up! Belarussian power!
BULLSHIT CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
bullsh—–
I knew it was gonna happen, we all did
Man, if the Habs can score the next goal and win it – they’ll have a HUGE advantage over the Caps. I might be stating the obvious, but it will be HUGE.
Allons-y les Canadiens! Halak time baby!
We just ran out of magic.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
they’re on the phone to rds
NHL and Gary Bettman and the Caps vs. Montreal.
Great.
W@TF is going on here?!
Over.

AHHH. you must be right
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
HOLY OLD FUCK REF!!!
That comment was just plain stupid Mike. Sorry man, you’re way out of line. Complain about the coach, sure. Go ahead. But keep it real, eh.
2003 draft, grumble grumble.
The beer is making me ugly.
How is that a penalty?
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
agree with 1 and 4. Not with 2, not sure on 3.
Do you know anything about what he’s done or said… or do you just follow the crowd that follows the journalists that run this site…
What’s to review?
And people wonder why we complain about refs….. What a disgrace.
The reason that they’re tied is that they took their foot off the gas at 4-1. And yes, it is Martin’s responsibility to prevent that.
Where are u going with this? Andree scored 3 tonight.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
A.Kost hatty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These refs are out to f*ck us. First the terrible non-calls, now a BS penalty like that?
Right on dude. AK46 with the winner? Go Habs Go!
OMG STFU

i hope no one thinks this is over until the final buzzer, someone tell gord miller that
Not just us, writers for the Post-Gazette in Pittsburgh were ready to string up the officials over game 2.

http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
i hope ovechkin tears his acl jumping into the glass
Also reminds me of being up 5-2 against the Caps before the Olympic break, they tied it in the third, but we won in OT, and people here bashed Price relentlessly. But somehow if you question Halak you’re just a troll.
which one?? haha Ive tried changing pics, and I see no change.
3 consecutive Caps goals scored by the refs.
fire it on the net, plow varlymov
repeat
You need to look again if you think Hamrlik wasn’t screening him. Backstrom pulled his stick and shot it just around him. He was using him as a screen! It’s what good players do, Ovechkin does it all the time. It was a good shot, and if the D played like they had been it could have been another blocked shot
ok,thanks.
You gotta be kidding. Here we go. The refs will ensure it goes how Bettman wants it to go.
habs had a 3 goal lead and pissed it away. then they get a lead with less than 5 minutes to go in the game and piss that away. if you can’t win with a 3 goal lead, you don’t deserve to win the game.
this team is incapable of holding a lead. they always find ways to screw up.
Bettman must be calling Toronto to tell them to disallow it….
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
I was wondering when the regular season habs were going to show up…lets all welcome back our favorite mediocre team
Nickname for Pang – “Ubaldo”.
Priceless… that’s why they pay Duthie the big bucks.
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
Andre Kovechkin
Can we have just a little more cheese with that penalty call??
yawn.
as always.
We didnt need that review time for WAS to reset….F$%^&K
Up 4-1 couldn’t you just see this coming??
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:

lol schooled! Funny, I’m usually the one doing that
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
does anyone feel like this is a dream? and when you wake up something bad is going to happen?
1st Caps goal – legit
2nd – Knuble interference, no call
3rd – Whistle should have blown
4th – legit
The only thing the Habs have to fight is frustration, cause the Caps D sucks more than Monica Lewinsky.
you can definitely argue “near perfect”, but to question their compete level. they put everything they had into that game just like the first.
FFS…D just letting them walk in

ill tell you where we lose. fkin martin benchs SK for one msitake. what a lser martin can be. picks on his whipping boy. breaks up a solid third line, shortens bench. kills game plan. bs
We need to infuse the guys… send good, positive vibes their way. Pray!!
What a fluky goal.
Oh well, 4-2.
i hope an angry mob meets the caps bus on monday
exact same play as Pouliots int. penalty on Laps with 2:30 left. No call there.
I agree with this sentiment
I was just thinking we can’t let them back in…..
In Guy Boucher I trust.
This game isn’t over yet…they need to regroup and get to the net with the puck…this PK may decide the game…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Seeing my o/u on the Caps shot total wasn’t too far off, I’ll pick a player wearing red white and blue as my OT selection.

CMON BOYS, we cannot let this one slip away……….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Well put.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
There gonna have to bump Jaro to score …..*ukers
BS refs…NOW they call interference.
Come on Steroid boy didn’t poke the puck by Halak he drove his stick betwen his legs and drove him into the net that is a joke.
Different seasons, different bars. The bar for Jaro wasn’t set quite so high. Did Price deserve the scorn? Probably not but then as you have said many times, deserve got nothin’ to do with it.
why wouldn’t they even review that for interference?
The refs miss all those calls on the Caps and then call THAT??! unreal. BRUTAL reffing
I blame the effs.
There are very good reasons why McGuire doesn’t have an NHL job.
Boone goes to McGill, studies and works hard to build a respectable Journalism career but then calls a “showman” his Guru….makes no sense.
WTF!!!!! Interference what the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The refs miss all those calls on the Caps and then call THAT??! unreal. BRUTAL reffing
i hope he jumps through the glass and he cuts his eyes out
christ, Caps comes back… but not for long though
SK! JM has a temporary brain fart and allows Sergei on the ice. SK goes end to end and scores top shelf. JM makes note to self that SK is banished to the press box to make sure such a incredible mistake never happens again.
Bettman phones refs to reverse this result
Where were all the a$$hole “fans” the 1st 2 periods??
BOB MCKENZIE is a dough head period.
No interference calls in this game.
While in his pads, the goal is good.
Varly got a warning for it to if you notice the ref talking, they always give a warning
still sux though
They jumped right on Jaro man….WTF WTF WTF
I just want to see at least 5 good crosscheks….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Is this shaping up to be 1993 all over again? If the Habs pull this one out in OT again, who knows!
Drive For 25 Is Alive!

think that goal would have counted if it would have made it 5-1 habs? I doubt it.
“class is beginning to tell here.”?
Do you want to put on a Leafs jersey?
Is Sergeï hurt or benched?
HA,me too, but im so efin hungry
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
WOW, the 3rd is gong to be crazy
And how can that not be goalie interference ????
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Sorry, but he had dumped the puck. You can’t impede the guy after the dump in.
I’m actually delighted that we find ourselves in a position to come away with two victories after seven periods in Washington. Realistically, more that most of us were hoping for. Afterall, there has to be a reason the Caps finished 30 points ahead of the Habs in the regular season this year.
HOW IS THAT NOT INTERFERENCE ON POTI!!!!!!! ARE F’IN KIDDING ME!!!!!!
Let’s go Habs! Allons-y!
Halak time!
No sweat man. I’m stressed too. We all are. It’s cool.
…………
Ovechkin just did the exact same thing Gill did.
I will actually break your jaw if I ever meet you.
lol I was just saying to my buddies tonight it looks like Ovi got some special jucie from his trainer for tonight. lol
Hockey mess on aisle 3!!!
Hey Boone. enough doom and gloom.
My slogan for the OT is F#ck the Red!!!!…
Habs need to take it to them and shut the media boffoons up…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
The D concedes the blueline like they did on the OT winner and Plante, Dryden and Roy get beat as well.
do i get more information on this
Cammy wtf you moron.
They play the game the same way the fans watch from the stands
hoping the opposition wont score
So far this game, Washington is incapable of getting a lead … and that is why THEY will lose.
Anyone else feel this game is just starting!?!?!
TIME OUT JACQUES! TIME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol Boudreau looks like he doesn’t give a sh*t when the Caps tied it at the end! He turns away slowly as if he didn’t even notice.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
For some reason this one hurts more than any loss in recent memory
I can’t believe they are letting them get away with interference like that…it’s a disgrace to the league.
_________________
Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
They are attacking our defense and we are rolling over. That’s why we will lose this game.
They didn’t go upstairs on the AK46 goal.
It is called building up credit. Halak has been so money in so many games over an extended period of time that we give him some slack. Rightly or wrongly Price has not built up similar positive credits with the fans through consistent excellent play and wins.
WHAT AN ASS-**** PENALTY!!
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
I hope somebody in the room calls out the officiating. I seriously hope they do. Even if we win.
that was fast…
Hating on Price has almost become the cool thing to do. I can just imagine what the reaction would have been if he had given up a 3 goal lead and lost 6-5.
That said, given Halak’s performance for the majority of the season, his play at the Olympics and Game 1, he deserves Game 3 to try to redeem himself.
This is absolutely unbelievable. These refs deserve to be buried under the ice.
you gonna call him a commie next?
Oh Jaro…
Caps fans, coach, players should be very worried anyway cuz we obviously outplayed them!
The world knows that we can play them! So, Go Habs Go baby!!!!
Everybody get ur car flags out and show your colors!!
“AK hat trick”? You sound disappointed, Boone.
You guys have to remember Mario’s quote: “It’s a garage league”.
Oh well. Monday we take ‘em.
The first Cammy slash was legit, but the second Ovechkin must have had a cracked stick. Cammy had his stick on the ice and Ovechkin’s follow through on the pass broke the stick. If they had wood sticks definately no call.
Gonna be a hell of a 3rd!
If we win this game, we win the series, because the Capitals have been handed the last 30 minutes on a silver platter.
Tipped by Hammer, I think
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Plante and Dryden get beat by 90% of shots in the NHL today.
Apparently you’re allowed to push the goalie out of his crease from behind?
Fair’s fair: those Caps are a juggernaut. They just keep coming even when they’re down.
Wow..
Agreed.
Knuble concerns me in this series, he is one of the best crease sitters in the entire NHL. If not for missing some time, he’d have been the 4th 30-goal scorer on Washington.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I thought what I said was worse!
Caps knew they couldn’t let Halak face more than 40 shots.
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
What was Halak doing hangin’ out halfway into his crease on the last two goals?
This is unbelievable!!!! HOW THE HELL DO THESE REFS GET JOBS?!?!?!
Seriously, there is no excuse for the crap these a**holes just pulled. NONE!
Backed right in… looked like the Habs of old, just cede the blueline.
Disheartening loss.
They are going to crash the crease like crazy….JM pick up on this man…..clear those idiots OUT!
Bullshit ***ing game of the year, those ****s didn’t deserve this by a mile.

Well, you predicted it, I missed it , the NY Mets are playing in the 19th inning and I was late getting back to the game.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
if OV starts his hitting game, he might get back into the game because bergeron and spacek aren’t big guys and might not be able to take OV’s physical game.
maybe we should hit him before he hits us!

one that allows steroid use
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
I wanna vomit.
Well then,,,,,Price get ready man.
I agree, Halak absolutelly deserves game 3, in my eyes he deserves the whole playoffs, unless he implodes.
i can’t say enough about how much i hate that call. so you can hack at the other guy’s stick all night and it’s cool. but if his hi-tek carbon fiber space stick breaks, it’s two. stupid.
Caps much better team then Habs. Fact. Proven in every respect during the regular season. Playoffs, things have played out a little differently….so far. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Boone is correct.
Well at least we got the split. Really sucks right now(((
That review on AK’s last goal was not needed. It was just a ploy by Boudreau to delay the game. Is there a penalty for that kind of thing and if not there should be.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
C’mon, guys, don’t jump ship here. les boys have played with more passion in the last 55 minutes than they have all year!!!
Nice one, guys. Way to back in. Halak, that was brutal. Get your head in the game.
No I go by my own eyes, this site, newspapers, other sites, magazines, etc. and results on the ice and JM has not won a Cup.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
I think matching up Gill with him is the way to go.
pleky!!!!!!!!!
See ya Halak, that’s pathetic.

I know what you’re saying but save percentage of 0.1? Wow.
That was a great call by Toronto to ensure the Caps got a chance to regroup after Kostitsyn’s third goal.
Complete and total BS. Let’s spend half an hour reviewing an obvious no goal by Pouliot to let Fatso and the Russian back in the game.
The NHL is a loser league run by morons.
PLEKSSKSKSKSKSKKS
What a crock of ****.
We outplayed them Timo. We should still be proud. We, Habs fans, have too many expectations…We never expected to go that far…
Hey, just getting here late and I see it’s just starting to heat up. Any feeds so I can watch it on line?
Love to see the third.
Thanks in advance.
HOLY ****!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! JAGR!!!!!
I don’t see the last Caps goal as interference, I saw Gill trying to push Knuble off the same time the puck went pass Halak… it looked good, but heck Habs got the lead anyways.
lol, yeaaaaah
Ovechkin is a great player if no one is checking him and he can crashs the net. What an idiot.
Apparently the Colorado GM tore an new hole in the officials about blown calls. I somehow can’t see PG doing anything to help the Habs cause.

haha nice
All the caps are doing is crowding the net…I guess it’s OK if the refs won’t call interference.
YES!!!!!!!!!S Shut those MOFO’s up!!!
This is one turning point potential period.
Don’t worry people! I’ll be at every home game and Habs win will!
They were reviewing the Pouliot crease crash where the puck was between his legs while he was in there. If coaches had the power to call for goal reviews, we’d have put the Pittsburgh game into OT earlier this year.

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to throw up right now.
DANS LE BUT!!!! PLEKANEC!!
Jaro got Pleks’d!
I’m going to go with the last Caps goal as a positive, as it will save us from the Habs’ clunky version of The Trap in the third. (Sorry, best I can do.)
Despite the best effort of these terrible refs… I love this team /cries
D backing up, backing up, backing up. Moronic. Just one more steady D man and this team could do things. That was terrible by Hammer.
Absolutely.
JAGR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEKDADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
I agree with you. So would Patrick with his 1986 gear. He and his equipment had to get wider over the course of his career to give him a fighting chance.
I don’t trust NHL REF. Our goal was a clean goal and they reviewed it for a long time. They interfered with Halak and the REF. didn’t review it at all.
oh sweet relief and do you see those horrible caps fans making scary faces at our boys? Assholes@!
wow… just wow
what a way to lose..
what horrid reffing.. but then again why are we suprised
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
JM and AK alive in the playoffs…….amazing
In your miserable ****ing faces you Zebras! We’ll win this despite all your BS!!!
Tommy Jagr strikes again with that pass!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Our team totally got away from why we had the lead – taking away time and space…they just backed in again on that goal.

- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Same game plan……..don’t change a freak’n thing!!!
That’s some class, right there! What to go boys, don’t give up!
Oh, and F***off TSN and Pierre Maguire!
I think the delay had something to do with reviewing a previous play where Pleks’ shot hit the crossbar. I was watching on Vs. and they didn’t show a replay of it.
Spacek at 210 lbs is not that small. The only D on Montreal that weigh more are Gill and O’Byrne.
Destiny awaits us.
This could be Carolina and 2006 all over again.
Coach Martin – We need another goal. Forget playing a defensive shell. Take it to the limit one more time.
Andrei Markov – You have had a sub par game so far. We need you to step up big time. Now is your chance to shine.
Stick that in your butt Rosen and Jaffe
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
TOMAS JAGR!!!
pure horsecrap!
that game shoulda been ours…refs decided this game
Thats true but when your there and you let one get away, it still hurts.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

OMFG! Does it get any bigger than that????????? What a huge goal, fighting the refs all the way!

Can all the fans in at the Bell centre after they drink their beer fill the cup with , you know what and throw it at Dickhead Macquire. Macquire is in love with Ovie he has thing for big strong Russian men that are full of steroids.
Sweet justice
Knuble goal was bull, as even TSN admitted. Ovy goal was bull as well.
Congrats, NHL and Gary Bettman, you got what you wanted.
THE REFFING SUCKS!!!!!!!!! ARGGG!!
Willy!!! I told you wings! I’m 2/2 with you this year!!!
I hope you’re right.
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
I’m going down to NHL headquarters and bringing a foreign object: a Louisville slugger.
What a f***ing goal!!!
he shot the s*** outta that puck!!
Heartbreaker.

Because you’re the only person here who isn’t a follower right? Everyone else just takes their cues from Boone. Get off your high horse.
Well, now the Caps know that goaltender interference won’t be called. This game is officially scary.
Lots of time, keep pushing Habs, don’t F this up.
I was already confident, but that adds a boost to it!
C’mon Pouliot!
THIS TEAM IS PURE GARBAGE! HALAK IS SH#$%^&T.
HABS WON’T WIN ANOTHER GAME IN THIS SERIES!
IT’S OVER! incapable of holding a 3 goal lead= SH#$%^&*TTY TEAM!
in my mind, if you get into the playoffs, you have the same chance as anybody. I don’t see why I should have low expectations. The New York Giants are my team , and I have high expectations for them every year. When they beat the Patriots, no one thought they would even make the Super Bowl, but once your in the playoffs reach for the gold….on in this case the Silver of Stanley.
aright guys… lets kill of this penalty and win this thing…
they way the habs are playing now, it’s very doable
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
and now the refs step in again
Wow Jaro…Not good
Habs just blew an opportunity we may not get back…finish has been a problem all year and it is haunting us in the playoffs…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
you guys realize this period is gonna be no picnic right? the system is about to face a great challenge.
Hey look, ANOTHER penalty.
_______________________________
The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.
It kills me because all of us have to sit here, grin and bear it and take the loss when it never should’ve been close.
Again, I really hope someone calls out the shit officiating. These mother f’ers don’t deserve to come out of this unscathed cause we sure didn’t.
I hate the NHL and I hate Gary Bettman.
Nobody remembers who won it from year to year, right?
Any time somebody mentions the Bettman Trophy I have to google it to find a pic because I have no clue what it looks like.
Hi, any links to a live feed?
What the Hell Pouliot!
The D gave the line way too easily.
Game 3 will determine the series….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Pigs will fly before we ever hear this organization criticize the mafioso running this gong show
That dumb stoppage in play killed the Habs momentum and allowed the Caps to regain some composure.
Is this the coming out party for AK finally????
and the refs blow an o-ring
Caps are a bunch of vampires led by Alex the Impailer. You have to put stakes in these guys and don’t let up until the bodies are burned.
I think we clearly have a big goaltending advantage…Varlomov is no Cam Ward…One more goal should do it…I like where this is heading…
Keith Jones calling it right “Caps not respecting Habs…”
Verses doing OK…Not missing Grapes tonight…sure he is talking about the Leafs golf handicaps…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
In your face, negative-nellies!
http://media.turku.fi/kamera1.html
Halak high glove side ><
Well put.
This is a disgrace to hockey everywhere.
Umm why not timeout at this point???
in your dreams, maybe…

yeah the exageration was a little on the heavy side, I know.
tsn getting it right for once
Nice dive there! And of course the zebras fall for it. Pathetic.
Now there is a goaltender controversy!
Big-time!
Halak of the regular season returned in 25 minutes of this game!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
Thanks again.
We’re not getting any calls on Halak because we already had two PPs and the NHL can’t be happy that Ovechkin’s team is down at home when already down 0-1 in the series.
pouliot… why? that is unacceptable
mtl 1, refs 1 caps 0
They are the worst,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
TSN, RDS, Versus.
FEKINNNGGG POULIOOTTTTTTTTTTTTT !!!aarggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Damn Jaro, Thats horrible, You gotta be better than that to win a playoff series in this league
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I hope the Molsons raise holy hell, they’re the new owners and should speak up.

The dreaded 3rd period two goal lead……
Jobbed part 2. Didn’t see the call, but you can just imagine….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
gosh i wish my reverse jinx worked
i think this will do it for them, confidence-wise they are done.
Need to work on that in practice tomorrow and Monday. They were much better on Thursday.
Wow. Saturday night hockey with no All Leafs all the time bias, no “I’m Smarter than anyone in hockey and I’m a Jr. C Referee” Ron MacLean….A guy on the panel that actually Won a Stanley Cup. Bravo TSN.
Of course….

Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
Well Halak totally killed this series for the Habs.
Yeah, the refs made a serious mistake in the end of 2nd by calling the Poulliot hand pass, too, eliminating a sure goal for Caps. So it goes both ways and in the end usually evens out…
Watching the panel and replays on TSN. Obvious that Washington goal should not have counted.
Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb….now who here is going to say that’s a bad call?
You know what makes me happy? Sure we have to be worried about shutting down Ovie, Semin and Backstrom, but they have to be worried about shutting down Plecks, Cammy and AK. Isn’t that nice?
Knuble definitely hit Halak on the last Caps goal. Pretty egregious no-call, but not as bad as the non-call on Gionta’s break in game 1.
POULIOT WTF!!!!!!! ROOKIE….
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Those last two goals are inexcusable under the circumstances by Halak.
Have to say it Steve, AK46 – 9 goals in 18 playoff games. Jeff Carter… 7 in 31.
C’mon Pouliot, Mistakes are killing us
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Two questions:
1. The series is over, that is clear. When did it end? Probably when they made it 4-2 in the 2nd.
2. Halak was terrible tonight. Should Price play the next game?
Well Washington had no problem with doing it tonight and they won the game.
Varlemov is considered the future in Washington and Boudreau had no problem throwing him in to the most IMPORTANT game thus far.
Now of course MTL is a different city then Washington but still……
Yes we split the series in Washington but all the momentum is with the Caps right now it means very little that the Habs won game 1 right now.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
GUI!!!!!!!!!! oops Benny!!
.::moen for captain::.
You can’t concede territory, especially the blueline, like that and expect to win.
You mean the first very good 18 months of his NHL career was not made up of consistent good play and wins? And the stuff before that as well? I will agree that the 2nd 18 months pissed away the positive credit he built up.
“I am guilty of using elipses…”
When TSN is taking the Habs side, you know it’s bad
Something stinks with the refs. It stinks of corruption and game-fixing.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Price in for game 3. Jaro should have stopped 3 of those
atdhe.net
And that is why Pouliot is a piece of crap.
Reminds me of Huet against the Canes.
We’re Golden!

come on benny,seriously,150 feet from your own net.
halak was terrible.
Regarding the goalie interference issue?
Great goal, then bad penalty.
No wonder we’re all schizos!
“I respect your opinion, but you’re completely wrong!”
No, not really. Makes me realise how much better there top 3 are then are’s. However, in the playoffs anything can happen. Habs in 6.
Since everyone loves talking about the 2003 draft class…
Zach Parise: 13G in 34 playoff games.
Jeff Carter: 7G in 31 playoff games.
Mike Richards: 9G in 31 playoff games.
Andrei Kostitsyn: 9G in 18 playoff games.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

again i say its martin loss. shortens bench after a bad shift by sk and he ruins the game. team cant keep their style of play going, and what does that say to your players? you’re not good enough to be on the ice anymore, even though you have been playing great hockey for teh last 5 periods. f u martin. inspire confidence in ur team, dont shoot it in the foot

That was hilarious, how do the officials sleep at night? That could have easily gone the other way, hope our boys don’t get discouraged, this isn’t over.
The NHL only cares about making fans, not keeping them
KIDDING
Give this one a try. Scroll down, there’s 3 different links, probably to each network’s feed.

Yeah Pleks is sure a bust in the tough playoff games. Come on PG sign this guy if it is not too late already.
Disappointing. Good Night! Win all three games at the Bell…and we’re through!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Oh c’mon Timo!!
It’s one thing to criticize all things Habs and voice your opinion about everything that happens within the organization but dropping a massively depressing bombshell like that just isn’t right!!
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
What the hell is with these refs? Determined to kill our momentum and basically decide the game. WTF>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes and yes
This definately reflects how I feel after this game, but you’re usually much more analytical and logical than your article. Thanks for validating my feelings!
Looks like the only team that can beat us tonight are the asses in the striped shirts
Got to keep them in it hey what a load Of reffing BS
okay fine. we all saw what just happened and exactly how it happened. everybody knows that if anybody got “lucky” tonight, it was the caps. you really can see how people can believe the conspiracy, i mean really? where’s chris lee when ya need him?
i am just fuming about that poti interference.. that’s unacceptable
that was stupid, stupid stupid.. kill the bloody momentum!!!!
.::moen for captain::.
That HURTS! The Habs had this game several times and let it go. But who would have thought the Habs would get the split? Not me!
At the very least the Habs know the Caps are very beatable.
He’s been our weakest defenceman in this series, which is very troubling.
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
http://www.justin.tv/nad_et_pic_4/popout
“love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”
STRONG….STAY STRRONG
Halak did not look good on those last two. But we shouldn’t have even been there. They crashed him, bumped him, impeded him all night with impunity. The refs were told. The Caps were not to lose two at home. The league wants a Crosby Ovechkin matchup and they will do whatever it takes to get one.
Do not let up, boys. Keep skating, get it deep, win your shift, test Varly.
+1
This is awful. Refs don’t have the balls to make calls against the home team in washington they better be consistant and hand us a game at home
This game is far from over….and now we have to deal with the refs and NHL HQ
Look at tonight’s game — two of the Caps’ goals were questionable, the Ovy and Knuble goals. You take those away, and it’s 5-2. You don’t, it’s still 5-4.
So what does class have anything to do with it?
Caps were a better REGULAR SEASON team. Fact.
What evidence do you have that they are a better PLAYOFF SEASON team? The score tonight? The score in game 1?
litttle shit PJ .
That dumb air horn that goes of three times and then the fans say Go Caps Go. God damn that is dumb.
Pretty common move on a unbeatable goalie. Crash the net and interfere with him and look for garbage goals. Habs still are in the driver’s seat, just have to weather the first few minutes of the period and this PK.
I think that Pierre Houde just gave up. Completely.
No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.
Look, to win this series, they need to get better goaltending than the Caps. They didn’t this evening.
Steve, I think the Caps are focusing on Markov, forcing him to make quick plays, driving to his side. They know he’s the key to out D.
Glad someone else saw that! It wasn’t Tom Poti taking that shot
atdhe.net
That wasn’t a pen.
How is this loss on Martin? THe game tying goal would have been stopped by a 10 year old. The game should have been over. Martin was not in net tonght. Halak was brutal plain and simple. Halak lost this game not Martin.
Great not joke. . . .
Sure Giil was on him, but Knuble used it as his excuse to crash down on Halak. Interference.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
This is killing me. Pouliot is in my doghouse. screw that penalty – Big Kill!
i’m just saying, i and likely many here would appreciate it if people refrained from using capitals in their posts for the next little while. just seems like bad form
Though seriously, Benny, what were you thinking?
Kill it boys!!!!!!!!!!
Yea, for sure.
It wasn’t a dive. Pouliot was stupid.
I guess if we keep our expectations low, then we can’t be disappointed, eh?
Halak was by no means “terrible”. He was bad on some plays. Superb on others. That last goal was essentially a break-away, the way the defense were backing up.
The perfect analogy! Issue the mallets and stakes to our boys and we’re in.
i am so nervous about this period
Alex Burrows was so inspired by Kovalev’s instructional DVD, so he put one of his own out…
