The problem is that I think they’re already under the cap floor, even counting Yashin’s salary. I feel bad for them because it’s an organization with a great history that desperately need a good team to gain back the fans they lost and in that regard, this move looks like another nail in their coffin. This team is really getting f#cked by it’s owner.
But the guy is having a good season and chances are the Isles wouldn’t keep him, or he wouldn’t stay after this year.
And the 5th rounder is conditional, so it probably depends on the Habs signing him this summer, which they probably will if he becomes a big part of the team.
Matched against the best players on the other team (avg 23:14 TOI/gm) and 126 minutes (total TOI) more than anyone else on his team, that sounds about right. Also doesn`t help when you`re playing in front of oft-injured DiPietro and old geezer Roloson.
Also worth noting that tje Islanders themselves only had to give up a 3rd-rounder last August to get him from the Ducks: so essentially they traded a 3rd for a 2nd and a 5th … not bad!
I don’t think it’s such a bad deal for the Isles. They aren’t going anywhere this year and Wizniewski is a soon to be UFA. A 2nd rounder is just about the going rate for players like him in their contract year. The Habs threw in the extra pick, and the Isles get some salary off their books now instead of waiting until the deadline.
And the second round pick the Habs are giving is the compensatory one the Habs are getting for not signing 1st round pick David Fischer not the Habs real second rounder (which was traded to the Panthers for Dominic Moore)
AND CapGeek tweets that Habs can get a player with a full-season cap hit of $3.5m-$4m even after Wisniewski trade. I`m happy with that. Leaving options open
That said, it`s an awful trade for the Islanders. What a joke of a franchise!
WOOHOOO!?! Habs land JAMES WISNIEWSKI (let’s see Boone type that!) from the Islanders for a compensatory second round pick in 2011 and a conditional 5th round pick. I like it. you?
Habs needed help on D and badly on the PP. And Wisniewski put up points on a kind of bad Islanders team. And Wisniewski brings some more grit and sandpaper to this team. (Lapierre AND Wisniewski = LOL!) And he’s right-handed to
I don’t know who they might put behind the bench if they make that type of change ( I do feel they need it ) but maybe its time for Kirk to take control for a while. He is more a players coach and might beable to lite a fire under this bunch. I would also hope a big d-man is picked up as well as a good top 6 forward with some size and skill. Toughness from both additions would be a big requirement. Hope you had a great holiday Ian. Catch you later.
Here is our team standings, in the 30 team league, compared to last week boys and girls.
I
said I was not going to criticize J. Martin this year after the great
run in the play offs last year. But does he really have what it takes
to get this team to the next level ?. I sure don’t know.
If he could only match his great defensive game with an offensive game, we would be at the top of the heap.
Goals Against—83, We are in 3rd place. Last week we were in 2nd place.
Total Points—–42, We are in 15th place. Last week we were in 12th place.
Goals For——–93, We are in 21st place. Last week we were in 19th place.
Something is going to break here somewhere. I do smell a trade or movement behind the bench coming.
1. I think the Habs will play well tonight – the Capitals like to skate and that fits our game a lot better than trapping teams.
2. Boone – it seems that you are going to continue Quick Hits as well as About Last Night. I would like to suggest a name change for Quick Hits. How about Late Hits? It has a nice 5-minute major kind of edge to it.
This team isn´t this bad. It´s a deeper team than the one which beat the penguins and capitals last spring. It can roll 4 good lines when it couldn´t even roll 3 decent lines last year. It is not quite as strong defensively as their goals against indicates but it is more threatening offensively than a lot of people think. Give them a puck moving defenseman to feed the forwards and things will improve quite a bit. The guys have just lost a bit of confidence. Remember the first 20 games of the year when they played every single top tier team real tough (except maybe the 3-0 game against philly). They didn´t let in 3 regulation goals for 29 games. This team has alot of character, is very disciplined, and will rebound. But it needs that missing piece on the blueline to be a cup threat. If they get it and if (when, actually) Subban regains his confidence they will be a force to be reckoned with. Problem is with Gorges hurting and PK erratic right now they are in danger of falling behind and missing home ice advantage. The miracles of last year nothwithstanding, they will have a MUCH better chance to keep going in the playoffs if they finish first in the division.
The Canadiens can play a great game tonight but will not win without top notch goaltending. Washington will get plenty of chances but their achilles heal is that they sacrifice defense to do so. Which means that we have to convert chances into goals. It should be an exciting game because that’s the type that the Caps play. Earlier this season I was confident that we would be in every game and we were but the key then was the superb goaltending and we are fooling ourselves if we think we are getting it these games. I’m not saying we won’t get it, just that it’s not a sure bet. Come on Carrey, time to steal one for us.
After the complete fiasco on Long Island Sunday I expect to see a better effort tonight, although all signs point to an extension of the losing streak. (Sacrificed two lambs and and ox for this augury!) Prediction for final score: 4-2 Caps with Price standing on his head and an EN goal.
im no hockey expert but from what i ve seen so far since the detroit game, the habs are playing like they dont give a crap, martin seems like hes got ego problems. i have one question that is still lingering me is that why cant we give a chance to desharnais, i mean can he be any worst than pyatt or pouliot, we wont know what hes got if hes not playing with the team
They better spend all of tomorrow’s practice working on nothing but accuracy. We’d be winning this game if they hit the net with even a quarter of the shots they’ve missed with.
i never fuc*n get it if your pp suck bal*s what is the point of having an extra attacker with an empty net. a gifft for the opposing team for owning us? geez!
and how long is it gonna take for martin to demote pax because hes not “scoring”
I don’t want to criticize CP, because the two goals were beautiful, but the numbers are once again damning — 10 shots, 2 goals. We need the impossible in nets. Period.
Far too aggresively for his experience level and capabilities just now. I wouldn’t mind if he kept the aggressiveness but, jeez, this ain’t junior. The bigs eat guys like this for breakfast. Take your time PK. You’ve got way more talent than most so just use it wisely.
How many goals did the habs score again in the first period? 1-6 road trip, when they arrive back back in 8th place with the ninth place team right up their ass. Lucky they won the game against the Canes with that 5 minute power play. JM sucks and his system of trying to win 1-0 or 2-1 is not working. The team is playing dull hockey, with the dullest coach in the league.
Well, to be fair, JM doesn’t exactly have the scoreres on the roster for trying to win a high scoring game now, does he? And if you say he does then please, by all means, name those high scorers.
Well it was going pretty good until about 3 minutes to go in the period then it all went to hell in a hurry. Don’t like what I’m seeing from the Habs right now.
Holy crap i was screaming the same thing all year. These guys need to have a practice where they hit the F’in net and thats it. i remember Sid the Kid missed an open net and they had video of him just burying pucks in a empty net. Think it worked for him?
I was hoping to see Auld tonight. Price has not been sharp lately and could use a couple of days off. Without a rest, I expect him to continue to struggle and the team to lose.
Perimeter P’s are back again. Same as two years ago, same as last year. Guys take up position on the opposition blue line and wait for the puck carrier to make a move. Nobody to go to the net. Pass the puck around the boards behind the opposition net. This top 6 bunch should be benched, every last one of them. Useless. Scarecrows, Tin Men and Cowardly Lions each and every one of them.
i was thinking same thing as the game played out. caps keeper had very little work in front of him and peeps say size does not matter. we have cap space for help up front. still lots and lots of hockey left..keep in perspective.
“I’m extremely happy to be joining a team that’s a contender for the Cup,” said Wisniewski in a team release. “I’m planning on doing everything I can to help things stay that way and help the Canadiens keep winning
is he for real?
joining a team that’s a contender???? obviously he hasn’t the followed the habs since 1979.
help the Canadiens keep wining?
obviously he hasn’t checked their record in the past 10 games.
I feel sorry for him, coming to such a god awful team.
we might score 4 goals …if they change the capitals net to an indoor soccer net….we had trouble scoring last year and we lost over 35 goals just from metro, mab and sk74 who were replaced by boyd, eller, halpern and subban..
Yes, it’s a very legitimate question, what has happened to bring on this bad play by the whole team, with the exception of perhaps Priceberg??? Has the loss of Markov effected them that much, is all the Subban “stuff” causing problems? The team has been intact since the start of the year, except for Markov and recently Pacioretty, so seriously, what is going on???
Boone, et al, are you guys seeing or hearing anything that could be causing this funk??
this team could not score last year so i dont know why this is a suprise…camm,gion,plecks.ak46 are on pace to score pretty well their career averages…the other players are all non scorers…pouliot is the most overated player by some posters..lets realize he is not a goal producer and never will be..maxpac has done better in the ahl than expected but i dont see him as a goal producer in the nhl…gomez was never a goal scorer in his prime and now he will score even less now…our other forwards are all basically 4-8 goal a season scorers…eller is the only forward that we do not know what his maximum upside is…combine these forwards with a d that cannot produce offense to help the forwards you are back to winning games by goaltending, team d and special teams…
The winning record and the playoff run more of the Habs outstopping the opposition as opposed to outplaying them.
Our top 6 would merely compliment a line or two on other teams as opposed to being our source of goal production. They are simply too small to play the kind of game the NHL requires game in and game out.
Our defense is slow and immobile and at least Wisneuwski will be an upgrade. Tell me why we traded O’Byrne?
The system is a glorified trap that works well for a team of hard working, physical players who will take the hits and work like hell to protect their net. This team is not built that way.
We let Boucher get away for this?
Much like Calgary we need a new coach and one who is not afraid to demote high priced ineffective talent.
I do not see a win in their next 3 games, and by early 2011 we will be in 9th.
Same reason the Caps lost so many in a row: bad luck.
The Habs have been outplaying teams, outchancing them, out-everythinged them and still lost a lot of games, often by three. Everything the other team has done has turned to goal. Every turnover by the Habs has turned into a goal against. Meanwhile, the Habs have taken WAY more dangerous shots than their opponents, have gotten more and better scoring chances, and they can’t buy a goal, a call, a bounce.
Of course, we don’t want to admit that, so we try to find some underlying reason. The team must not be putting in the effort, Subban must be causing a rift, the loss of Markov must be taking its toll 20 games after it happened. And when you’re losing games 5-2, 4-1, and 3-0, it’s hard to be on the lookout for those things that are much more reliable indications of how well a team is playing than the final score.
It’s all BS. It’s a classic, percentages-driven slump. It’s very frustrating to watch and more frustrating is the panicked nonsense that gets written as a result, because most hockey “analysts” aren’t actually analysts, they are storytellers who look for narratives. And they’ll make one up even if it blatantly contradicts the facts (“the Habs kept the Caps to the outside during the playoffs”).
The Habs will come out of this, and since their underlying numbers have all been fantastics, they should go on a righteous tear when they do. I’m sure we’ll see more nonsense written then about stepping up, finally putting in the effort, adjustments, and whatnot.
Pacioretty gone to the net when the puck was coming in the last 2 games? I swear after a few games any player in a Habs uniform aside from Gionta becomes allergic to it.
we can blame the coach..refs etc…but just maybe the talent level we have for scoring is what we see,,,who on this team is under performing in scoring goals based on their entire career…
Even though we lost tonight (sigh), I still take great pleasure in knowing that is was US who ruined their dreams last season. Ovie may not be at top form this season but man would I love to have him playing here!
I dont get all the Kevin Bieska hate. Especially from Boone cause i know he doesnt stay up to watch the Canucks games. Ha ha. Maybe you can help me out. I understand he would have cost more and i like the JW trade a lot. However Bieska is a upgrade on most of the D we have here right now. (minus a healthy Georges, and discounting PK’s potential.)
Even when they were winning the scoring was a problem. Pleks, and Pouliot have to do more. Is there no one on this continent that has gifted hands that can put the puck in the net? Go out and find someone already. This recurring theme is very frustrating- scoring 2.5 goals a game is useless…

Go out and find someone already. This recurring theme is very frustrating- scoring 2.5 goals a game is useless… This has been a problem with the Habs for a few years now. Go find a gamebreaker! You can teach defense….
All told, after what we did to DC in the playoffs, I thought they’d come out much stronger, as in trying to get months of frustration, anger, and embarassment out.
We beat ourselves, really — 0-2 on the PP, no momentum from that, PK out of position, Picard-Weber-Max unable to check downlow
The Beagle goal was a very crafty move by Beagle. Fooled CP and would have fooled most.
The Greene goal was a complete densive break down which started when PK completely missed his intended target and ended up on his derriere completely out of the play.
You know what would be new? If Gomez scored – that would be completely new. If Cammilleri decided to earn his salary – would be new. If Gionta did anything useful other than whack at a puck from 30 feet out – that would be new. If AK woke up. If Lapierre threw a decent check. Tons of things that good hockey teams consider a routine would be new to this bunch.
I couldn’t understand why Kostitsyn passed the puck off, he could have rushed… I think he’s lost, its becoming ad absurdum for AK. That play lead directly to Pleks launching it into Cammy’s face.
Timo, I know that you are unhappy with the Habs play as of late, as we all are, but he is contributing to the few goals we are getting, whether it be by putting them in the net or helping with assists. Plus if he is out, who is going to replace him? We’re running out of bodies.
But there he is on the bench so I will be happy to see him still playing and you can go on hating. We will agree to disagree?
Yes ZERO PUCK SUPPORT>>>>>>>>>>>>>HIGH & WIDE>>>HIT THE GOAL POST>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have heard this every nite, terrible game tuned into a movie for the second time, glad I can listen to CJAD comments best of the nite
In fairness, if you were looking for idiot fans who boo players for no reason you couldn’t find a better place than the higher reaches of the Bell Ctr.
Boone, let’s settle it here and now, JW’s nickname (he needs one to save all of us from having to type his name) is heretofore established as “The Wiz.” Nobody beats him, surely not Avery, Seabrook, or Boynton, and presumably no Leaf or Bruin.
Ok guys you saw him in one game and two series’ . Not much of a sample there. Nobody played good in the Chicago series. He is a definate improvement on what we got going on here. By far.
Saw him in two playoff series against the Blackhawks in 2009 and 2010, he was not exactly keeping VAN in against them from what I saw, VAN went out of their way to get Hamhuis and Ballard in the off-season to boost their D.
Nice Christmas present for me and Habs fans who wanted a physical stay at home DMan from last season. Better late than never as they say.
Great that we got a tough ,physical, bruising DMan in Wisniewski. Not big though, but tough in front of our nets to protect our goalies.
Now Gauthier has to get that big offensive skilled CMan we need and if we have to trade a Weber along with Andre Kostitsyn and 2 high round draft picks, the team will be an improvement to compete in the East!
Atta boy Gauthier! Let;s make a deal one more time!
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
2 thumbs up! Goat’s not dun yet, folks…. he’ll pick something else up before the deadline. Let’s hope it’s another solid pick up like this one. The plenty of cap left for another one anyways.
Hope he doesn’t blow it? Thought i’d throw that one out there…
If we pot one here, we might just win this game folks… (purses lips, draws deep, burns thumb and tip of index finger on spliff, sucks roach to back of throat and chokes)
OK, in the first it was the PK bad pass and the PK over-commitment. This period it was the PK big windup shot blocked. So can you maybe give us something to like in the third?
It’s nice to see the Habs stick to the game plan. Don’t press because if you over-extend the other team will counter. So sit back and wait. Protect the 2 goal deficit!! Good period. They battled to a stale mate. If they play the system that well in the 3rd it could end up 2-0.
My goodness, even us diehard supporters are getting into the jeering, aren’t we?
Alright then, for the third period I’m going with positive vibes man. They’re playing like crap and only down by two to a team who was just in a longer slump than us, a team we schooled just 8 months ago, a team who can be taken tonight. Go Habs!
I will always love B.G. as a player (and to an extent, as a G.M.), but it’s quite apparent that Gauthier is better with le club’s “Monopoly” money. He seems pretty shrewed with our assets as opposed to Savard, Houle and Gainey. They used to fold like a cheap suit when trading players.
BG is still an advisor to the GM. For all we know he could have some influences on some of the moves being made. We all pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes, but we don’t.
Going to see lightning-bruins tonight (I’m a Tampa fan for one game, baby) then Habs-TB game on Thursday – I’ll get a first look at Wiz in the right uniform. Love the trade! Great job PG.
Islanders played last night, so they probably wanted to wait until today. It also takes time to file the right paperwork with the league, and have it approved.
The Capitals hang “Southeast Division Champions” banners at their arena? Wow… Definitely worthy when you can win a division that consists of yourself, Tampa, Florida, Atlanta, and Carolina.
Canadiens don’t even hang conference champion banners.
I’d like to reduce the odds of having myself a heartache. How can you help?Well for once get the boys to NOT play the FINAL minute of every PERIOD in our own end.Seriously, its ridiculous.
………it could be worse…..remember the days of Turner “skates in mud” Stevenson on a line with 2 other offensively challanged habs.Petrov,Thornton,Brashear,Zholtok,Dagenais….anyone…HANDS of STONE.
What a frickin’ offensively challenged team, unbelievable. No net presence, nothing; teams must love defending the Habs on the pp, just like practice drills for them. It’s one thing to have a couple of guys slumping, but all “top” 6??, what is going on????
While the Molson boys aren’t exactly hurting for money, you’re crazy if you honestly think they’re going to be paying two coaches simultaneously to stay at home and not coach.
yeah ok im crazy but whatever because as long as we dont have the right guy behind the bench then we can pay a gazillion coaches a ton a dough and it wont matter.Gotta be the RIGHT dude for this gig.Scotty.Thats it.
Loosely translated, Bouchard says the Canadiens have no balls in the defensive zone. I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully Wisniewski will help in that regard.
OK I WANT TO SERIOUSLY TRY SOMETHING HERE FOR THE 3RD PERIOD……
If you all could and i know we are all frustrated and kinda pissed at the team but lets all honestly think positive for this 3rd period and concentrate on sending the positive good scoring vibes toward the boys.No negative thoughts.Try it.All of you.Lets all believe that we can overcome this 2 zero deficit.Ok?
I’m sure the Penguins are just salivating at the opportunity to dump an elite player for a collection of guys that have no demonstrated ability to score and Carey Price.
Carey’s spectacular heroics masked a problem that has existed and persisted – if he’s anything less than stellar beyond words, those problems become a little more transparent.
I know he’s still around and it would be a stretch to say that they don’t trade advice, particularly on these occasions. No one can deny though, at a glance, PG’s trades look better (so far) than the aforementioned, on their own. For the record, I wasn’t pretending to think anything so don’t count me in as one the clueless here.
Why am I not surprised you are here again bashing the Habs every chance you get. Are you a Leafs or Bruins fan, because you sure as hell are no Habs fan.
Did he score a hat trick? No, then he has not. He’s done enough to give the 18 guys in front of him a chance, but they have no seized upon the opportunity.
Given MTL typically sucks against the teams against lowered placed teams, play well against tough top rated teams. I see MTL pulling out a win which has the fans scratching their heads thinking… “How… What… Wow… Did that just happen? Awesome.”
Ok why does PK Subban get booed in washington?I can understand in Pitt he gets booed but in washington?WTF does this kid gotta do to just shut the peeps up?He hasnt done anything to the caps really to have their fans booing him.I dont get it.
The Caps fans are idiots, they were nowhere to be seen 4-5 years ago, and now they are the most intelligent fans everywhere, so they think.
There is an online survey which asks people to name just 7 players on the Caps roster before Ovy arrived, which was designed to show how much of a bandwagon hockey town it is.
It would not surprise me if there was some underlying racism to the boo’ing which, as you noted, has no relationship to what’s happened on the ice.
We have in the ENTIRE season, not come back from a deficit after the first period. In all the years where this team has sucked, and there were many years since 1995… how can this even happen?
goaltending, team d and special teams are the way for this line up to win…we pretty well know the production that we will get from this group of forwards and d…eller is the only forward where there is a potential high offensive upside…pouliot is nothing more than a teens goal scorer…maybe maxpac but i been skeptical on this guy being anything more than 15-17 goals a year at best…the only way this team will upgrade its goal scoring is thru trades, free agents or our prospects…if we keep this line up ,at the end of the season our goals for in the standings will be at about the same position we are now…
You could see that play coming a mile away. Gill can’t get the puck in deep, no one covers properly and boom. Oh and nice flying tackle by PK seven miles away at centre ice. WTF. Dog walking time. I’ll check in tomorrow to see how the game ended up.
I am afraid, very afraid. I hope we are able to pull it off again, nothing would be more insulting to the Caps than to lose the playoff series to us (the way they did) and then fail in their revenge attempt at home.
I hope PK is back in the lineup, I think he’ll step up in a game like this. We were beyond flat against the Isles and we need his jump and up tempo play.
ok now I am depressed, a little later than the rest of you but I prefer to be the optimist. This team just seems to have lost all its spark and desire to win. They are playing so flat, they honestly might as well not even show up.
Makes me wonder if there is something going on in the dressing room or with the coach. How can they go from playing so well to playing like a last place team. Had it not been for Price tonight, the score would have been 5-0 or worse. All I ask is that they try, even if they lose, just try.
Hockey Inside/Out encourages lively debate, but there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, profanity and behaviour that we deem to be offensive.
We will, without warning, ban those who do not abide by this simple rule, so as to maximize the enjoyment of readers and participants of both sexes and all ages.
Leblanc and Nattinen with Goals today, lovin’ the feel of Habs Future this week.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
I hope Wiz doesn’t go deaf during his first home game at the Bell…..should be quite a shock to the ears after playing at Nassau Coliseum
Big time acquisition on D. I like it, a lot. Great addition, for a minimal cost.
Fleury leads Price now in All Star voting…should I be bothered by it?
“They say you can’t buy experience, and it’s really true.” -Carey Price
The problem is that I think they’re already under the cap floor, even counting Yashin’s salary. I feel bad for them because it’s an organization with a great history that desperately need a good team to gain back the fans they lost and in that regard, this move looks like another nail in their coffin. This team is really getting f#cked by it’s owner.
Great trade for Montreal, though!

Shortie for Leblanc.
LeBlanc just scored a great shorty!
Good point.
But the guy is having a good season and chances are the Isles wouldn’t keep him, or he wouldn’t stay after this year.
And the 5th rounder is conditional, so it probably depends on the Habs signing him this summer, which they probably will if he becomes a big part of the team.
FYI joonas nattinen (habs 3rd rounder in 2009) is tearing it up in the world juniors

He isn’t playing tonight, is he?

“It must be love!”
Also worth noting that tje Islanders themselves only had to give up a 3rd-rounder last August to get him from the Ducks: so essentially they traded a 3rd for a 2nd and a 5th … not bad!
Full Breezer 4 Life
Isles are embracing the tank.
Who would want him though?
I don’t think it’s such a bad deal for the Isles. They aren’t going anywhere this year and Wizniewski is a soon to be UFA. A 2nd rounder is just about the going rate for players like him in their contract year. The Habs threw in the extra pick, and the Isles get some salary off their books now instead of waiting until the deadline.

HaHa, I mention d-man and low and behold they pick up Wissi. He is tough with good size and may make a good pairing for PK.
+/- is an extremely flawed stat. Mike Green was like +40 last year and we all know what everyone thinks of him defensively.
The torch be yours to hold it high!
-16
on the islanders… what’s taverese?
wiznewski is also +/- -18
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
I like it a lot!
Wizzy!
HAHAHAHAHA. I wanted the Habs to get Wisniewski a long time ago. AWESOME NEWS!!!
Thanks Ron, the very best of the season to you.
Looks like we picked up a fellow that can play, and give some of our older D less minutes and rest Georges, he is playing hurt.
(Lapierre AND Wisniewski = LOL!) And he’s right-handed to
Here’s the link : http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=547577
What the…..Habs traded for Wisniewski?!?
I wonder if he can make it in time for the Caps tonight
I don’t know who they might put behind the bench if they make that type of change ( I do feel they need it ) but maybe its time for Kirk to take control for a while. He is more a players coach and might beable to lite a fire under this bunch. I would also hope a big d-man is picked up as well as a good top 6 forward with some size and skill. Habs should scout heavily in the Czech Republic. Maybe hire Hamrlik and/or Spacek after they retire.
Thanks a lot!

Anyone have a stream for the junior game?
Team Canada coming on shortly and the Habs and Caps a bit later. Love this time of year.
Revenge is a dish best served cold
Let’s hope it doesn’t come out frozen. As in waffles…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Unless Chris F. Lee is reffing – he might find a way to nullify some of our goals.
A couple of things:
Took years of study and practice to get to this point. Not gonna mince words.
***Subbang!!!***
astute observation good sir.
It all boils down to consistency, consistency, consistency. We don’t have it and we really need it.
The team that scores the most goals tonight will win.
***Subbang!!!***
Sutter just stepped down as GM in Calgary, replaced by Jay Feaster, of T.B. infamy.
Is there no new blood to be found in the NHL?
Jay Feaster?!
Succinct.
Maybe it IS just a slump! Maybe the Habs will shake it off and play a dominant match tonight! I’ve got a good feeling about it. *knocks wood*
Full Breezer 4 Life
One word to summarize tonight and our recent play: disgraceful
Can he help us hit the net with a shot?Aye yaye yaye….
Nice takedown Subban.
Habs have been good since the second period………….
Lars Eller has been awesome in the 3rd.Gotta bury it when your in the slot Lars!Cmon!
On a different topic … Ovechkin is not looking good at all.
maybe – but they have nothing to show for it.
Need goals ASAP.
Laich out hockey.
With the big guns of the Caps quiet, how is it that this team is still losing? Just unconscionable.
Go Habs Go!
Ain’t gonna happen, peeps. 2-0 is insurmountable with this bunch.
A little late for the reverse J, Mike?
Dustin Boyd has 9 goals in 6 games in Hamilton.
I agree. What’s with that?
im no hockey expert but from what i ve seen so far since the detroit game, the habs are playing like they dont give a crap, martin seems like hes got ego problems. i have one question that is still lingering me is that why cant we give a chance to desharnais, i mean can he be any worst than pyatt or pouliot, we wont know what hes got if hes not playing with the team
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
They better spend all of tomorrow’s practice working on nothing but accuracy. We’d be winning this game if they hit the net with even a quarter of the shots they’ve missed with.
Did anyone see on 24/7 that Mike Green drives a white Ferrari (“with a formula one exhaust”).
What a dick.
Do you think they will score again this year?
Varly could’ve played this game from a hammock.
That’s because he’s playing.
JM needs to send a message by putting Eller, Moen and Lapierre out there in the dieing minutes.
I blame Price, he should be roofing his clearing passes, top shelf
…in the AHL.
Did we score yet?
Of course he would get it, he’s done f&ck all the whole game
And the cherry picker scores. Great.
If JM wants to send messages he should work for Fedex….
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
She’s over. Bite me Ovie!
This team’s offense is worse than the Leafs.
7 losses in last 9.
“Pathetic” just isn’t enough to describe the situation.
F this.
That was stupid pulling the goaltender. It was 2-0. Now it’s 3-0. You call that defense?
I was just wondering about how he was doing down there earlier, was about to post a comment asking.
Good I hope he continues to do well.
Easy empty net goal when we have midgets out there getting muscled off the puck…..sigh.
Carey Price vs. the Capitals.
i never fuc*n get it if your pp suck bal*s what is the point of having an extra attacker with an empty net. a gifft for the opposing team for owning us? geez!
and how long is it gonna take for martin to demote pax because hes not “scoring”
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
Pffft! Can “The Wiz” help us find the Yellow Brick Road?
who the hell cares.
What place are we now???
I’m going to the game tonight and I want two things
1-to see PK play
2-a win dammit!
“Start the season with a clean equipment bag and a freah bucket of febreze!”-CharlieHodgeFan
Let’s hope you get to see PK and Pricey..slapping palms !!!
Subban is not ready for the big show in the NHL, not prime time ready IMO.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
I’m just gonna award this “Comment of the Night” and go do something else. Y’all’d be wise to do the same, methinks…
i guess brodeur overachieved for 18 years as well….this must be the the real him…
Agree. Needs to sit for a few in a row just to get the batteries back. Problem is, if you sit him after a loss, there goes the confidence again.
Oh well, all this will change when The Wiz comes to play for us… right?
I don’t want to criticize CP, because the two goals were beautiful, but the numbers are once again damning — 10 shots, 2 goals. We need the impossible in nets. Period.
Well at least he’s improved from overhyped junior scoring star that we should dump on another team from your opinion.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
halak scored on himself. end of discussion. go home.

I’m starting to feel sorry for the Wiz,he’s leaving Long Island to join this…ouch!
… before it’s too late.
Far too aggresively for his experience level and capabilities just now. I wouldn’t mind if he kept the aggressiveness but, jeez, this ain’t junior. The bigs eat guys like this for breakfast. Take your time PK. You’ve got way more talent than most so just use it wisely.
***Subbang!!!***
It could have been worse (e.g., the breakaway, post)
Subban’s got a ticket back to Hamilton as a late Christmas present once Wiz gets here
what the was Subban doing on that goal? Denis savard spinarama???
HAMMER with 9 minutes in the 1st!
play him 60 minutes. at least he was even +/-
How many goals did the habs score again in the first period? 1-6 road trip, when they arrive back back in 8th place with the ninth place team right up their ass. Lucky they won the game against the Canes with that 5 minute power play. JM sucks and his system of trying to win 1-0 or 2-1 is not working. The team is playing dull hockey, with the dullest coach in the league.
Look at it this way — We’re bound to come back for a win at least once this year. Why not let this game be the one?
True that.
I like the optimism!
Well, to be fair, JM doesn’t exactly have the scoreres on the roster for trying to win a high scoring game now, does he? And if you say he does then please, by all means, name those high scorers.
***Subbang!!!***
Oh that’s nice a late goal, and take a penalty too…………..hahahaha
ALL THEIR doing is shooting high!
Man this team sucks …
Brutal offense
Brutal defense
Gosh – I am becoming more and more of a troll everyday. Cmon Habs – let’s rebound next period!
We need Wiz now!! Hope he can score as well.
They’re going to eat us alive, and I think it’s necessary in order to wake the team up.
As if the Caps actually needed the added motivation of revenge to whoop our asses.
so how many losses will it take to get JM fired?
That Green goal started will Gill failing to get that puck deep. With 40 seconds left, you play with the clock!
“It must be love!”
this is really starting to make me mad. price needs rest. not saying the goals were his fault, but he is clearly gassed.

Subban, Picard and Weber as half your D, that’s what you get.
Subban still playing far too aggressive!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Well it was going pretty good until about 3 minutes to go in the period then it all went to hell in a hurry. Don’t like what I’m seeing from the Habs right now.
I thinks it’s time to protect the 2 goal deficit.
I think this game is gonna require MUCH more beer for me. Ill postpone the headache for tomorrow.
he’s not tired, just mediocre.
overachieved for the first 30 games. this is the real Price, the 1 from last year.
Halak please come home!!!!!!!
Well, that last goal is on PK and Gill who perfectly illustrate the way we played that first period — like a bunch of headless chickens.
And what’s with Cammalleri on the PK? Is that to get him going?
Well that went much better than I expected.
Why does PK always end up spinning counter clockwise on his ass at least once a period?
And why are we letting them go to the net so easily?
So many questions.
I still believe. Come on Habs!
I think what the Habs need more than anything is target practice. Can they learn to not shoot at goalie’s chest? This is just frustrating!
Hide your kids, hide your wife…and go to sleep until the Habs win.
I think they also need to practice having a guy in front of the net. Hard to score when all three forwards have their faces planted on the boards.
Holy crap i was screaming the same thing all year. These guys need to have a practice where they hit the F’in net and thats it. i remember Sid the Kid missed an open net and they had video of him just burying pucks in a empty net. Think it worked for him?
Antichambre, should be fun tonight…..
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
So – now my two favourite YouTube hockey videos feature Habs – Kovalev mauling Tucker and The Wiz offering Avery lunch.
Is Carbo off the books yet as HC?
I was hoping to see Auld tonight. Price has not been sharp lately and could use a couple of days off. Without a rest, I expect him to continue to struggle and the team to lose.
Perimeter P’s are back again. Same as two years ago, same as last year. Guys take up position on the opposition blue line and wait for the puck carrier to make a move. Nobody to go to the net. Pass the puck around the boards behind the opposition net. This top 6 bunch should be benched, every last one of them. Useless. Scarecrows, Tin Men and Cowardly Lions each and every one of them.
***Subbang!!!***
i was thinking same thing as the game played out. caps keeper had very little work in front of him and peeps say size does not matter. we have cap space for help up front. still lots and lots of hockey left..keep in perspective.
listen to what Wisniewski said:
Ah, SK74. I really miss him and think we mucked up big time on that one.
Never saw it that way.. good point. Wow, that’s a ton of goals compared to what we have to replace them right now.
What we are seeing is a team reacting to a coach who does not comunicate or benches people for no reason
breaks up lines.
He plays the old guys until there nearly dead
I felt this was comming when he started putting players on different lines trying to fix what was working.
I do not see much in future .the fire has gone out and I only see a chance if ther are changes.
I dont think another defence man will help break the attitude now
I hope I am wrong
Hello, A.A? Yes, I think I found my enabler. The Montreal Canadiens.
Inquiring minds want to know……PLEASE!
On the other hand, it’s just a slump. They’ll be back.
***Subbang!!!***
It’d be easier to win a game if they scored a goal and to score a goal one has to hit the F***IN’ NET ONCE IN A WHILE!!!
HOLY SH*T, I’m so tired of shots going wide – LET’S FOCUS!
Geez…
this team could not score last year so i dont know why this is a suprise…camm,gion,plecks.ak46 are on pace to score pretty well their career averages…the other players are all non scorers…pouliot is the most overated player by some posters..lets realize he is not a goal producer and never will be..maxpac has done better in the ahl than expected but i dont see him as a goal producer in the nhl…gomez was never a goal scorer in his prime and now he will score even less now…our other forwards are all basically 4-8 goal a season scorers…eller is the only forward that we do not know what his maximum upside is…combine these forwards with a d that cannot produce offense to help the forwards you are back to winning games by goaltending, team d and special teams…
Another no show by the Habs and it doesn’t get any better in Florida. There’s simply no flow and intensity to this
team’s overall play. This is beyond a slump IMO. How a team can play so inconsistently from one game to another
and do so for long stretches is simply perplexing. I know the team is playing hurt and tired, but there’s no excuse
for the lack of focus and intensity by this team on a nightly basis. They appear to be going through the motions out
there on the ice. Could there be something going on behind closed doors to account for their lackluster and uninsp-
ired play? This could get even uglier before getting better for the Habs. Let’s hope not!
Go Habs Go!
s\Smoke and mirrors is what this team is.
I do not see a win in their next 3 games, and by early 2011 we will be in 9th.
mesa so sad
Panic button pressed.
What’s causing this funk?
Martin has these guys so afraid of making mistakes that they are playing not to lose instead of trying to win…Simple as that…
I’ll agree that the playoffs was smoke and mirrors, but this year, this stretch is the smoke and mirrors part.
They’ve actually outplayed and outchanced their opposition more in December than in previous months. But they haven’t been getting the bounces.
Pacioretty gone to the net when the puck was coming in the last 2 games? I swear after a few games any player in a Habs uniform aside from Gionta becomes allergic to it.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Subban will be sent down to the AHL, mark my words.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
we can blame the coach..refs etc…but just maybe the talent level we have for scoring is what we see,,,who on this team is under performing in scoring goals based on their entire career…
The TB and Florida netminders should be licking their chops knowing the Habs will be in town. I can see them
padding their stats against this team given tonight’s performance against the Caps.
Go Habs Go!
“They should go on a righteous tear when they do”……now that I would like to see, but I won’t hold my breath.
Appreciate your attempted explanation, certainly is another take on things…
I think you’re right there….truthfully, I think we all just don’t want to admit how “low level” our scoring talent is.
Ok… so what did I miss?
Centre Hice: Top-10 worst Hab nicknames
hhaha what a joke gtfo
Even though we lost tonight (sigh), I still take great pleasure in knowing that is was US who ruined their dreams last season. Ovie may not be at top form this season but man would I love to have him playing here!
(Until Martin benches him of course).
Defensemen — keep it simple, as simple as possible
Top six — don’t stop skating, get the puck in deep, get shots WITH TRAFFIC
Bottom six — hit everyone in sight, get the puck in deep, get in front of Varly
No, no, that is NOT the system.
Crosby with two more goals tonight. Daaaamn.
“Kevin Bieksa would have been more expensive … and [nowhere near half as] effective.”
(Just correcting a typo in your post.)
Great pickup and cheap . Finally a little toughness.
This team’s psyche is so fragile that it doesn’t take much to shatter their confidence. Now, do they have the cojones to
make it a game in the 2nd period?
Go Habs Go!
LETS GO HABS!
COMEBACK TONIGHT.
Sky is not falling, everybody relax and have a drink.
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
- Bilbo Baggins
Excellent advice. I’ll take it.
***Subbang!!!***
Judging by some of the posts, most of the folks here have had enough drinks for the night.
All perimeter play by the Habs. No one is crashing the net. Still a chance of making this into a game.
Go Habs Go!
To quote an old hockey sage, “The next goal is crucial.”
Even when they were winning the scoring was a problem. Pleks, and Pouliot have to do more. Is there no one on this continent that has gifted hands that can put the puck in the net? Go out and find someone already. This recurring theme is very frustrating- scoring 2.5 goals a game is useless…

You can teach defense….
Let the drinking begin. What has happened to this team? No resemblance to what they were…
It’s not over yet. Caps are a team that allows teams back into games on a regular basis.
GO HABS…
All told, after what we did to DC in the playoffs, I thought they’d come out much stronger, as in trying to get months of frustration, anger, and embarassment out.
We beat ourselves, really — 0-2 on the PP, no momentum from that, PK out of position, Picard-Weber-Max unable to check downlow
Hope Gio kicked some shins in the dressing room after the first.
Shots all from the perimeter… ridic.
Another offensive zone penalty. This is the wrong time to pay homage to Koivu.
Anything else on TV tonight? If the Caps score here I may have to go surfing.
Go Habs Go!
are you fing kidding me??? how was that a penalty!
Just to recap what you already know.
The Beagle goal was a very crafty move by Beagle. Fooled CP and would have fooled most.
The Greene goal was a complete densive break down which started when PK completely missed his intended target and ended up on his derriere completely out of the play.
Yep, goaltending and defense is definitely our problem. Forget all that scoring goals BS. It’s not what wins games.
oh I hope that Cammy is ok, we can’t afford any more injuries
What the heck happened to Cammy?
ooohh, Cammy just took a puck in the face.
What else is new?
You know what would be new? If Gomez scored – that would be completely new. If Cammilleri decided to earn his salary – would be new. If Gionta did anything useful other than whack at a puck from 30 feet out – that would be new. If AK woke up. If Lapierre threw a decent check. Tons of things that good hockey teams consider a routine would be new to this bunch.
shutup will ya ….please.
Ouf! Big saves by CP.
When was the last time he made a difference?
Cammi hit with a puck by his own player. Rolling downhill nicely now…
Nice to see some emotion at least. As long as the ref doesn’t give us one for trying.
I couldn’t understand why Kostitsyn passed the puck off, he could have rushed… I think he’s lost, its becoming ad absurdum for AK. That play lead directly to Pleks launching it into Cammy’s face.
Khe, was it PK?
Timo, I know that you are unhappy with the Habs play as of late, as we all are, but he is contributing to the few goals we are getting, whether it be by putting them in the net or helping with assists. Plus if he is out, who is going to replace him? We’re running out of bodies.
But there he is on the bench so I will be happy to see him still playing and you can go on hating. We will agree to disagree?
Maybe Subban should play forward afterall.
Cheers. We absolutely will.
LOL, had to remove “man”
One goal in almost 2 games… we’ve got a real popgun offense issue going here.
Cheers, lady
but i know what you meant.
maybe he should play back, way back (in Hamilton) lol……..However the rest of this club is really lost,so all are to blame really.
Really?:)
Good glove, CP!
Picard is an evergoing adventure. A MAB who’s even softer and fluffier on D and no real threat on O.
It’s like there’s a forcefield around the Washington net.
We need some offence…P.K should try out on the wing!
i said it cause that was a really nice rush by him… as good, if not better than Gomez and a lot cheaper.
True, trouble is Habs have no one to fall back on for insurance like good old AfHalak !
True Dat
~FFS~
we are cup contenders according to wizz
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
I could say the same thing about your avatar.
Spengler Cup ,maybe.
Well… in his defense he is coming from Islanders… even laffs would look like cup contenders in comparison.
Oh you defending loverboy??Aww thats cute.
Sometimes I think he is.
Absolutely ZERO puck support tonight. That is why we lost.
I also say it is RACISM that is the Americans for you they are still againsy the blacks such a shame no need for that at all
I guess the Tea Baggers like hockey, pretty “white” sport.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
In fairness, if you were looking for idiot fans who boo players for no reason you couldn’t find a better place than the higher reaches of the Bell Ctr.
yeah…i sorta kinda had a thought of that myself….but ya….screw the craps and their fans. They’re a disgrace.
i bet you are one of them.
+1
Fischer for JW.. excellent
Boone, let’s settle it here and now, JW’s nickname (he needs one to save all of us from having to type his name) is heretofore established as “The Wiz.” Nobody beats him, surely not Avery, Seabrook, or Boynton, and presumably no Leaf or Bruin.
Go Habs Go!
Ok guys you saw him in one game and two series’ . Not much of a sample there. Nobody played good in the Chicago series. He is a definate improvement on what we got going on here. By far.
Watched him against Detroit last week. Not impressed.
Saw him in two playoff series against the Blackhawks in 2009 and 2010, he was not exactly keeping VAN in against them from what I saw, VAN went out of their way to get Hamhuis and Ballard in the off-season to boost their D.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
The Wiz is listed as a starter for tonight’s game, wearing #20 (OB’s old number), and also wearing an”A”.
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20102011/RO020538.HTM
(Not sure how accurate all this is, particularly the “A” part)
Just checked the link: not anymore. He’s a scratch.
So is it Wiz or Wizzy?
***Subbang!!!***
I’m amazed how this team continues to struggle on offense. You would think they where playing against
the Flyers by the way the Caps D has been playing. Simply incomprehensible their scoring woes.
Go Habs Go!
Nothing going right for the Habs.
Gorges is out tonight. Big loss for the Habs but we know that he’s sitting because he needs to heal his injury. Get well soon Josh!
No disrespect to Gorges, but considering the way he played on the island, I’ll take Weber and PK for sure. Hope he’s back to his old self soon.
1 efin goal, is that too much to ask for. This games not over yet. This team has fight and heart, we just need 1 efin goal damnit
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Headless chickens, I tell ya…
Okay..so they got Wiz for basically nothing which is great. Time to make a big trade for a big, consistent, hard working goal scorer.
Iginla?
Guuh, ANOTHER penalty.
I’m starting to think the team aspect is starting to fray at the seams.
Finally a break! We need to score here.
Someone here wanted N.A.G.?
2 thumbs up! Goat’s not dun yet, folks…. he’ll pick something else up before the deadline. Let’s hope it’s another solid pick up like this one. The plenty of cap left for another one anyways.
Hope he doesn’t blow it? Thought i’d throw that one out there…
Well, if they did’t call THAT, I mean…
How much is the going rate for buying goals these days? Maybe we could pitch in?
camplain to me all you want about crosby, but hes showing right now why hes the best player in the league
.::DON’T MESS WITH THE MOENATOR!::.
too many men …jeez Gomez..if your’re going to the bench ..get to the bench ! stop dogging it … Eller’s got to serve your lazy ass penalty.
Bring on Iron Mike ……
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………..someone wake me up when we get a player to their net.
Why didn’t Weber one-time it when he had the chance?
The big windup… again!?
Aaannd another PK slapshot that hits the shins of the defender right in front of him.
….. and the trip to the sin bin continues for the Habs. What ever happened to team discipline?
Go Habs Go!
the guys who don’t have puck are simply not moving… how hard must it be for other teams to defend against that?
All perimeter shots with no one in front.
PG, you got us some defensive reinforcements, now it’s time for some grit/size up front.
The powerplay is just awful. I’m beginning to wish they had the option of declining penalties.
If we pot one here, we might just win this game folks… (purses lips, draws deep, burns thumb and tip of index finger on spliff, sucks roach to back of throat and chokes)
Also a forcefield at the Washington blue line.
That was an embarassing last shift
WOW! That was pathetic.
How many more times are they going to pass it right to someone in a red jersey!
Eller, Picard, and Weber should split the gas on a ride to Hamilton.
I hate to say this but the Habs are playing like the laffs right now. INTOLERABLE!
Lots of traffic at the Caps blue line. Mostly Habs parked long term. They must have permits.
***Subbang!!!***
Apart from Price, the rest of them should be made to walk to Florida
Maybe, but our real problem is the high paid veterans.
Just no flow and intensity to the PP tonight.
Go Habs Go!
I’d make them hitch-hike lol!
OK, in the first it was the PK bad pass and the PK over-commitment. This period it was the PK big windup shot blocked. So can you maybe give us something to like in the third?
***Subbang!!!***
It’s nice to see the Habs stick to the game plan. Don’t press because if you over-extend the other team will counter. So sit back and wait. Protect the 2 goal deficit!! Good period. They battled to a stale mate. If they play the system that well in the 3rd it could end up 2-0.
Weber has no future in the NHL, makes to many sloppy mistakes in key areas
This is why I am excited about Wisniewski.
Get in that bathroom and wash your mouth out with soap, young man!
***Subbang!!!***
Isn’t the third period theme, this year, dominate play and not score?
the whole team is playing terrible. Although I do think Eller should go to Hamilton.
great post
ha!
Damn Space / Time continuum!
JM should force march this team to Florida. Would be the equal of a bag skate.
Go Habs Go!
Go Habs!
***Subbang!!!***
And Wiz
Yeah, my emotions got the better of me
)
Well, Wizzy definitely provides everything we were looking for, except possibly defence??
Can’t fault PG for trying, and didn’t give up much since the pick was a Fischer freebie
how come he can’t join the team tonight? Couldn’t they have moved yesterday and have him come with the team on the trip?
From MA Godin
Other than Subban’s return in the lineup due to Gorges’ injury, Travis Moen is back and Tom Pyatt sits.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Islanders played last night, so they probably wanted to wait until today. It also takes time to file the right paperwork with the league, and have it approved.
Gonna be interesting tonight since Picard, Subban and Webber will be competing to see who stays and who goes to Hamilton
The Capitals hang “Southeast Division Champions” banners at their arena? Wow… Definitely worthy when you can win a division that consists of yourself, Tampa, Florida, Atlanta, and Carolina.
Canadiens don’t even hang conference champion banners.
Please don’t let Carey Price play in the All Star Game.
He needs rest!!
too bad, anyways it makes tonight very interesting between the Subban, Picard and Webber, it should push them to play their best but…
The Ovenchicken gets Roasted, Part Deux
Not a chance.!
Nice touch by the Caps having a castrato sing the anthems…
Watching the Capitals feed of this and they have NO audio for play-by-play. This is so incredibly awesome. I hope it stays this way all game!
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
We better score on this one. Two PP’s without a goal could really hurt.
The refs want to get on 24/7. That’s the only reason Montreal’s had two PPs this early.
sure
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Figures. No go on our PP’s, now it’s their turn.
Ah man. Is this how it’s gonna be with the ref’s tonight? L A M E
When we have been unable to cash in on an early PP, the game is over.
Weber looks like he has an extra step, good for him, even though the writing is on the wall.
NICE BLOCK SUBBAN!
Two bad PPs followed by a great PK
For sure Weber goes back to Hamilton.
Count system is really working. The laffs work ethic compared to the count’s system is overwhelming.
Weber, Picard, Eller, Poliout, and whoever else was out there.. who in there right mind would put that team on the ice against any NHL team?
It seems every team in the East save maybe Toronto is finding their stride, and we are starting to look quite ordinary. No flow whatsoever.
How long can Martin keep his job with the way his team’s been playing?
Throw the bank at scotty bowman and get him to coach this team to the cup!He is the only man for this team.THE ONLY MAN.
Dear Jacques Martin,
I’d like to reduce the odds of having myself a heartache. How can you help?Well for once get the boys to NOT play the FINAL minute of every PERIOD in our own end.Seriously, its ridiculous.
Sincerely, Pierre Gauthier
When the hell did it become February 2009?
………it could be worse…..remember the days of Turner “skates in mud” Stevenson on a line with 2 other offensively challanged habs.Petrov,Thornton,Brashear,Zholtok,Dagenais….anyone…HANDS of STONE.
Cmooon Habs…Just 2 five-on-five goals in last 8 periods.
Guys – you can do better than that! GO HABS GO!
I think that’s the main problem.
Fun fact: Michael Ryder would be leading goal scorer on the Habs.
This is reminding me of the centenial slump.
Every game starts out OK before reverting to the same groundshog dayinsh replay of the last game.
EVery mistake ends up in the net. Can’t score. Too many pens.
(Even Subban – he’s not bad, it’s just that every time he goofs the other team scores.)
Stilll it’s not the end of the world. It’s a beautifull holiday season here in Montreal.
JM walks into a bar, bartender says, “what’s with the long face?”
What a frickin’ offensively challenged team, unbelievable. No net presence, nothing; teams must love defending the Habs on the pp, just like practice drills for them. It’s one thing to have a couple of guys slumping, but all “top” 6??, what is going on????
At this point, it’s time to blame the coach. (I really was opposed to blaming him but… I mean… what the hell?)
Off topic but holy cow, Grabovski has 13 goals and 27 points!
He’s been on fire!
Thanks for that much needed tonic, Ninj’…
While the Molson boys aren’t exactly hurting for money, you’re crazy if you honestly think they’re going to be paying two coaches simultaneously to stay at home and not coach.
Go Habs Go!
yeah ok im crazy but whatever because as long as we dont have the right guy behind the bench then we can pay a gazillion coaches a ton a dough and it wont matter.Gotta be the RIGHT dude for this gig.Scotty.Thats it.
whoever said we were playing like the leafs is wrong…. at least the leafs are scoring, they are tied 3-3!
Cmon Cammy, AK46, Gio!
Please score!!
REMEMBER JUST POSITIVE THOUGHTS.
….thanks
Dear Mr. Martin
You’re fired.
Regards,
Mr. Gauthier
Can this team ever go without taking 5+ penalties??
Holy cow.
Nice feed back to the point by Weber! Love it…
I smell a SO
Did we score yet?
Sorry guy, I just smoked my last bowl of Feng Shui…
*sigh*
Go Habs Go!
Hard to score if you miss the net when you’re all alone in the slot.
Green hit Plek’s stick with his face!
Another penalty…just great.
FFS SCORE A FUDGING GOAL!
Way to go Pleks
Nice.
This team lacks an ass kicker that will hold the team accountable. The Rocket was one player that took you to
task for poor team play. This team needs someone to make a statement and wake up this team and in a hurry!
Go Habs Go!
Nice to see that Price has showed up to play.
Really hoping Tampa can beat Boston tonight to at least lessen the impact of this impending stinker in Washington
Excuse my Irish, but Weber is shite.
A whopping 8 goals combined so far on this road trip… sheesh.
If only we could get the offence to do likewise eh?
Go Habs Go!
Anyone see any good movies lately?
Offense was ALWAYS bad.
OK. PP. This is it! The big comeback!
whatever trevor
Trade everything it takes to get Malkin?
realize that your question is probably sarcasm but i did see True Grit yesterday, very entertaining! lol
Hang em high was on today.
We need a player like Clint Eastwood.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
Yep, great film…
I’m sure the Penguins are just salivating at the opportunity to dump an elite player for a collection of guys that have no demonstrated ability to score and Carey Price.
Go Habs Go!
Yes, that’s on my list.
Tron looks like it was designed to give people headaches.
Carey’s spectacular heroics masked a problem that has existed and persisted – if he’s anything less than stellar beyond words, those problems become a little more transparent.
Go Habs Go!
I watched slapshot today…love those Hanson brothers!
Your $5M+ players aren’t getting it done and it’s the coach’s fault?
When almost EVERY player is struggling, something is amiss in coaching land.
My pleasure, Wayne
I know he’s still around and it would be a stretch to say that they don’t trade advice, particularly on these occasions. No one can deny though, at a glance, PG’s trades look better (so far) than the aforementioned, on their own. For the record, I wasn’t pretending to think anything so don’t count me in as one the clueless here.
Yes thats true, but if we coiuld get one , I think we could turn the game around,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I like the energy tonight.
we need the first one big time or the minds will start to go into AK46 mode and we’ll float around for the rest of the game!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Too bad Theodour isn’t playing for the Caps.
That was kind of lame. Aucoin ducked his head right into Pouliot’s hands.
JM juss gonna luv dat, eh?
Beagle?? WHO??
Wow, that was nifty
That is like the 5th time a cap has tried that play. On a pick, too.
Picard and Weber on the same D-pairing? Come on… they’d barely be top pairing in the A.
Lapierre sucks.
blown coverage by Weber…you gotta let Lapierre fight his battle
Nice lookin’ goal though, gotta admit.
W.T.F.
Wow, what a beautiful goal.
The customary lateish goal
That will be a top 10 goal by the end of the season. Wow!
Mechants Mardis Molson Ex: Reminding me what day of the week it is.
I hope Picard sits for a loooong time. Certainly a lot longer than PK.
When do the trade Price chants start?
***Subbang!!!***
Why am I not surprised you are here again bashing the Habs every chance you get. Are you a Leafs or Bruins fan, because you sure as hell are no Habs fan.
How the f is that a goal?
Carey had the puck.
I guess the 40 games of Jacques Martin magic going from last year’s playoffs is now officially over.
Caps sensing blood — even the 4th line is getting chances.
Eller, Picard, Weber on the ice at the same time, huh?
should be 2-0…we got lucky there with an early whistle
A reverse Chris Lee?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Refs threw us a bone there!
Where did soobs go?
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
Wow D really sucked there…
The old stupid goal with seconds left.
Subban again.
There’s the REAL late goal. And PK spinning on his stomach at the blue line.
CP is doing enough to win this game.
Did he score a hat trick? No, then he has not. He’s done enough to give the 18 guys in front of him a chance, but they have no seized upon the opportunity.
Go Habs Go!
*yawn* Did we score yet?
You can’t score if you can’t hit the net!
All shots from the outside, with no one in front. Ridic.
I can’t believe Price, he did not shoot top shelf and score when he was setting up the puck behind the net.
“ratte la cible. ” Damn I hate hearing that. But I hear it so often…
So… is it just me or are the players just not playing for Martin anymore? *looks at Tampa score*
another great day of hockey ..world juniors then the habs…. can’y get any better than that !~
Good work by Eller. I just wish it was productive.
I just wish it were productive?
Given MTL typically sucks against the teams against lowered placed teams, play well against tough top rated teams. I see MTL pulling out a win which has the fans scratching their heads thinking… “How… What… Wow… Did that just happen? Awesome.”
Don’t know if this was asked and answered before, but will the Canadiens be on HBO 24/7 ?
If so, I soooo want to hear Boudreau’s plan on how to stop the Canadiens….
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
Ya Weber? Shoots wide steady on the PP? WTF does he need a f*** soccer net!
We have in the ENTIRE season, not come back from a deficit after the first period. In all the years where this team has sucked, and there were many years since 1995… how can this even happen?
goaltending, team d and special teams are the way for this line up to win…we pretty well know the production that we will get from this group of forwards and d…eller is the only forward where there is a potential high offensive upside…pouliot is nothing more than a teens goal scorer…maybe maxpac but i been skeptical on this guy being anything more than 15-17 goals a year at best…the only way this team will upgrade its goal scoring is thru trades, free agents or our prospects…if we keep this line up ,at the end of the season our goals for in the standings will be at about the same position we are now…
PK waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of position
what is wrong with this team? Price back to average, no one scoring …where’s PK showboat……..lol 2-0
I will agree on the first part… Habs… we shall see.
Ooops… that was meant in reply to StevieRay’s post.
No worries, 6-game winning streak starts with Wiz tomorrow
You could see that play coming a mile away. Gill can’t get the puck in deep, no one covers properly and boom. Oh and nice flying tackle by PK seven miles away at centre ice. WTF. Dog walking time. I’ll check in tomorrow to see how the game ended up.
Another nice move by our all-star D man.
***Subbang!!!***
LOL. And this is the team that went without allowing more than 3 goals in regulation for how long? What is going on?
it’s called reality.
How. On earth. Does that happen. P.K. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Frig! There goes the game
Any idea when we can expect to hear tonight’s lineup? I have to think that PK draws back in tonight.
Go Habs Go!
no they won’t.
10th place is ours!
Welcome to 8th place Habs! Thank you team for not being able to score consistently and blow wide open nets all game long.
There is something seriously wrong on this team…
this game was over before it started.
you never got a sense that habs would score even 1 goal.
how many times have the habs now been shutout this season?
shameful!
and Gomersh$#%^^&* get 8 mil? hahaha
The word is out amongst NHL coaching staffs across the NHL. To beat the Habs all you need to do is score 1st. Score 1st and it’s in the bag.
ok now I am depressed, a little later than the rest of you but I prefer to be the optimist.
