JM has gotta go.
He doesn’t have the passion or luck anymore
I just love dogs and ice
Jauques Martin is an oppressor. Oh, and in his own end, Cammi makes dumber plays than Marc Andre Bergeron used to.
1) didn’t the live blog prelude include a reference to BGL telling CKAC that there are problems in the room? Anything further?
2) what does that actually mean, anyway? That players are not able or willing to put aside lockerroom probs once the puck drops? Are they squabbling kids or high-paid professionals?
The soccer world lambasted the French national team when, following their World Cup humiliation last summer, it emerged that white players wouldn’t pass to black ones and vice versa. Are we now in that territory?
Four years ago the highly-touted Irish World Cup rugby team had a similar collapse, still unexplained.
Do we demand too much in expecting professional players to put stuff behind them and simply execute?
Or. IS it possible that the Chara hit and aftermath have just crushed their morale in a way that we, outside, can never get?
For it surely must be something exceptional like the hit, or else major internal problems, that could produce the dreadful standard of engagement which we’ve seen since Minnesota. Think of the way we were firing on all cylinders the night we were trouncing Boston — the contrast is massive. Most of them don’t look like the same guys at all. It certainly looks like something bigger than Gomez and Cammi out of form, JM sticking to the system, and even all the injuries. We’ve had those issues all season. What we’re looking at now is new.
a bloody mess isnt the word, disgraceful is what they are, no drive no passion no nothing. there needs to be a complete overhaul of the team on the off season. a couple of tough guys to take out the goons who like to beat up our faster guys. we need our big guns back if their going to get any where in the playoffs.
Sad to watch this team sink, while having to look at that manican standing behind the bench.
What is sad, i”ll tell you.
This team from the trade that brought Gomer here, that’s sad.
The team that was built from a hall of fame player Bob Gainey , into a very predictable, wimpy team that Montreal has never seen, that’s sad.
A team that has fans all over the world who are watching ownership, management watch a great young player like max P get almost killed by the Chara and the stanchions in that wonderful building, and then insulting us as fans and embarrassing the league by doubling up the foam instead of replacing the worst boards and glass in the league, that’s sad
Three no goal performances isn’t that sad, the players on the habs are tired of being beaten up every night. I put the blame squarely on Bob Gainey, he built this team, he unfortunately still has power. Fire Bob Gainey and give PG a chance to turn this team around next year.
“The ghosts are gone. The Canadiens have two choices, try and win the cup or be French Canadian” – Ken Dryden
Kordic, Gainey has a minimalistic say in the operations of the team for the past two years. He is not the issue.
actually he is kinda bc he traded sergei kostitsyn to nashville for a player who no one knows . sergei has 43 points in 73 games played higher than gionta gomez cammalleri and andrei kostisyn and wat doesnt help is tht jacques martin doesnt make puliot white and DD play alot wen there playin better than the first 2 lines
Hardest part for me is to see how well SK74, D’Agostini, and especially Grabovski are doing, since they were tossed aside by Gainey and Gauthier. Have we seen any results from those trades? Dustin Boyd and Aaron Palushaj, mostly in the minors. Dan Ellis, a Hab for what – 48 hours? Greg Pateryn, still in college? What is it with the GMs that they have no patience with the younger players? The Grabovski trade still stinks.
Grabs, as good as he might be, pissed off the bigwigs, and was dealt with.
Let’s face it, what you see is what you get. I wish JM would try something creative. Start Subban as a forward next game on the first line. Turn him loose. If that doesn’t shake everyone up, including the other team, nothing will. And if JM sticks with the same old, then maybe it’s time for him to step aside and give someone else a chance.
david dahairnais benoit pouliot and ryan white are playin really well maybe they should be the first line and gomez gionta and(who ever is playin wit them) on the 3rd and lars eller andrei kostitsyn and travis moen should be the second and cammy plecks and halpern should be 4th bc right now the original 1st two lines are playin shit and the 3rd and 4th r playin really well and dnt get ice time so watta wana doÉ
Posters are right to castigate those, like myself, who focus on Gomez and make him the scapegoat for the team’s woes. There’s plenty of blame to assign all around. Gomez might be the engine on the Little Train That Couldn’t Score but this CHoo-CHoo has a lot of passenger cars right now: Cammy, Pleks, Ak, Moen, … It’s time the locomotive switched from steam to diesel before it gets shunted to the off-season for lack of power.
The Habs are the greatest locomotive there ever was. Problem is now we’re in the Airplane era. The Habs need to go back to the future…… the Rocket era.
Why is JM still the coach ?
Enough with that Cammi is hurt crap. If he is indeed hurt he should not be playing because he is a liability. If he isn’t than he plain and simply pulling a Gomez. Plekanec is not a surprise – he usually stops having any sort of impact as it gets closer to playoffs (provided we make them). Gionta isn’t much better – some captain. Our highest paid players are the worst players on the ice night after night. Night after night. Our management refuses to do jack about it. Well… sadly, nothing we can do.
You are right! If the players are hurt they are a detriment to their teamates. This is especially true with their lack of contribution on the scoreboard.
Is it just me or has Cammi been in a big funk ever since Gionta was made captain. He has lost all his swagger since it happened.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who noticed this.
Absolutely, Cammaleri was in his prime during the Centennial game. The rotating captaincy gave everyone’s egos some breathing room. I think he really wanted to be captain… and he would have made a better one than Gionta.
. . . flaccid . . .
Merit pay . . . no contracts for more than two years with merit pay clauses . . .
O my Gosh, stop freaking out people. We have nothing to worry about. We have Jaro Spacek coming back really soon and then you will really see this team take off. Jaro, Jaro, Jaro.
Habs shutout 3 consecutive games.
OY VAY OY VAY OY VAY OY VAY
Before the Pacioretti injury I spent a lot of time on HIO (now, H’/IO). This is my first post since then.
I lost a lot of interest after that, not because the NHL’s chose not to suspend Chara (although, a couple of games would have been nice). Rather it was because the regular season lost a lot of luster (to me) at that point. We play 82 games to make the playoffs. We’ve been comfortably above 9th place for a while. And, due in part to injury and (my long-held belief) that we lack top-end talent, we are a distance behind the elite. So we play the meaningless games until the real stuff begins – just like pre-season… Why should I care?
Frankly, that’s how the Habs (sorry, the Hockeys) have looked for since the hit as well. Why bother? I’ll get energized when the real games start and so will the Hockeys. That doesn’t mean we’ll win a round, it just means we should see more effort.
The real question is what Canadiens are the real Canadiens? If Markov, Gorges and Patches played against the Rangers or Boston, would we have won those games? With them, are we elite? If not, what is this organization doing to get there?
Consider A Tale of THESE Two Cities – Calgary and Toronto. Each team looking up at eight place in their respective conference with a slim chance to make the playoffs. Toronto cleared cap space; and picked up prospects and picks going into next year. Calgary held on to everyone and still might (ok, will) miss the playoffs. UFAs like Tanguay walk for nothing. A couple of picks would sure look nice in June.
For us, Gomez is 0-8-8 in his last 22 games. Yeah, yeah, I know, he’s a slow starter and excels in the playoffs. He’d better. Cammi is streaky. Uh huh. Players like this are the core of this team for the next couple of years. Their contracts virtually ensure it. That means inexpensive players have to carry more than their fair share. Can we realistically expect Patches, Pouliot, DD, and others like them will lead us to the NHL top tier? Will JM’s system vault us to the rarified air? Should we just hope that Carey plays like he did in most of his first 60 games and carry us to a Cup? Or, does PG shake things up?
Wake me up when the real games begin — sometime in May.
Whose leg do I have to hump to get a dry martini around here?
This edition of the habs are lacking mental toughness. They can’t get over the Chara hit. This team has let the injuries finally get to
them and Chara’s hit was the last straw. Instead of moving on regardless of circumstance, they have folded like a cheap suit!
“Folded like a cheap suit”?
Full Breezer 4 Life
I believe that’s a mixed metaphor.
A simile, but definitely mixed!
Simile, metaphor… one and the same. That whole “if you use the word ‘like’ then it’s a simile” rule is lame.
Bill, you have a good night. I’m out!
I believe ” Deck of cards” is what he was looking for
What has happened is what happens when PG.JM ice the team we have… it was inevitable…
did you see the STAT CBC put up about our size… 15 or so players under 6′ and under 200lbs?
we are the joke of the league…
did you see DD in the corners? its like when the coaches/parents play against their tyke sons at practice…
Wednesday March, 9th, 2011 – the day NHL Hockey “officially” died
Ok HAHA guys, funny…but the jokes over…
Is anybody really surprised? The Habs have been playing like this all year. They have no consistent offence, no scoring depth, too much reliance on JM’s defensive system, too many undisciplined penalties and early/late goals, too much reliance on goaltending. These are all not things you can rely on and expect great results consistently. This team needs an overhaul, they have some nice young talent (Price, Subban, Pac, Eller, Weber, LL) but that’s it. I believe Martin has lost the room. He needs to go, they need a coach with passion, be it Muller or Roy.
The Scott Gomez line………..where wingers go to die.
Im quoting mr. Boone here “HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN LYBIA SINCE THE CANADIENS LAST SCORED?”
Mr.Boone blogged this during his live Game message board.
YOU STAY CLASSY HOCKEYINSIDEOUT!!
Im done with this shameful blog….
Get over it already. You’re sensitive, we get it, move along to the next outrage.
I guess if you were Libyan you might feel differently.
I just don’t have any time for this PC crap. He didn’t say anything horrible or hateful. You and MS8 can go stage a protest if you want, I have no problem with that, but do you mind if I abstain?
We’d appreciate it if you left.
(And while you’re right on the Boone comment, just listen to NESN or your beloved Bruins radio for 5 minutes and you’ll hear just as bad, if not worse).
It has nothing to do with NESN or anything HOCKEY that was my point in the first place. AND I AM NOT BEING SENSITIVE, its atcually a very serious comment!!!
I would appreciate it if you all would open your eyes for just one second….
… I thought you were done with this place? Wow, that lasted a whole five minutes.
Yes, it was a serious question. Seriously, can anyone tell me and Boone how many people have died in Lybia since the Habs scored a goal in Minneapolis last weekend?
Where is Lybia anyway?
Call 911. I hear that works.
Speaking of “staying classy”, it’s generally considered crude to call other people a “piece of shit” on a collegial forum such as this. It’s a good thing I’m not as hyper-sensitive as you, or my feelings might have been hurt, and I know how you dislike hurt feelings.
Wow, a reporter finally dared to mention to Jacques that Gomez has been mailing it in. Took long enough.
to little ..to late !
I am and always have been very critical of Gomez and Gainey’s aquisition of him, but Montreal’s problems go a lot deeper than Gomey.
as bad as he is, there are other worse problems… and at least he is trying to skate, right now I see PLEKS as the underachiever whiner.
PLEKS is totally useless, the worst player on the ice right now.
The last 2 games after returning from injury he hasn’t been good, but I think we can cut him a little slack since he’s been our best forward this season.
Gomez, Cammi… Is Cammi hurt or what?
Entirely JM.PG to blame for this fiasco, aside from the obvious of putting PLEKS on the PP, and chaining SUBBAN to the bench… by the way, PLEKS is making me sick, he has no passion and lately has been TOTALLY USELESS,…
BUT REALLY? ITS ONLY PART OF THE PROBLEM, KEEP BRINGING IN MIDGETS PG and JM, SORRY BUT WITH DD and PYATT, HALPERN, WEB, we are going NOWHERE but to the embarrassment hall of fame…
like i said the other day before the game, our greatest historic embarrassment against the Bruins was about to unfold, and sadly it did…
WAKE UP JM.PG and bring in some WESTERN NAG PLAYERS because we are the laughing stock of the league…
DD in front of the net on the PP????????? and PLEKS at the back!!
JOKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE… and what did WHITE play? 1minute?
Give me some m***erf***ing veteran youth! And some North American Grit! And some luck and percentages!
Plex looked like the little girl of yesteryear, but he’s gotta be hurt.
JM is to be commended for taking this team, banged up and underskilled as it is, to the playoffs this year.
PG needed to do something about the top-6 forwards but he didn’t. I don’t know how he would have swung it, but it needed to happen.
I don’t think you can commend JM for anything, the players performed and price has been great, thats why we are here.
what did JM do? MARKOV/Gorges gone? so he puts WIZ and Picard/Web then gets SOPEL, BIG DEAL… WHAT HAS JM DONE?
NOTHING in terms of fixing the MARKOV/GEORGES..
but let me tell you what he has done = PLEKS on the point, SUBBAN CASTRATED, FAILURE TO DEMAND TOUGH PLAYERS FROM PG, WORSE LINE JUGGLER THAN CARBO, AK on the 4th LINE… DD in front of the NET…. it goes on and on
Wednesday March, 9th, 2011 – the day NHL Hockey “officially” died
Just out of spite, I think I WILL commend Jacques Martin.
I’m off to write him a letter right now.
Wow, they had nothing. Nobody was on the same page. It was like that was their first game together.
Pouliot was bad, I can’t see him lasting much longer.
The kids played better last week when everybody was out of the lineup. Like I said, sit a few of these guys (Pouliot, Gomez) and bring them up again!
Worst case scenario they sit for a while and get a rest……but then I think a rest from what?
Anyone see at least one puck won on the boards? Every single 50/50 puck lost!
Not sure what has to happen but this is pitiful, if Gomez tried to take the blue line with the same pathetic move I am going to throw up!
Bench him and bring up a youngster!
waiting for mathman to adv the habs lack of scoring for the last 170 games with 20 plus shutouts to go with it is just bad luck…
I know right? Drives me insane especially since he calls himself the Mathman.
Did White get hurt or did he just get relegated to the doghouse? Because we could have used his energy. Stats say he only played 6 minutes.
Does this seem like last year all over again?
yes it does…i still think we will suprise in the playoffs not because of individual talent but when the team plays well together it pulls out wins… our roster is full of forwards who really are 5-8 goal scorers a year…darche and halpern have scored more but they are really non scorers also..so we have at least 8 forwards who score like 4th liners…
Darche 5 min..White 6 min…Benny 7 min ..Eller 9 min…no doghouse ..just JM being himself ..while greasping at the vain idea that his wee millionares can DO IT ! well guess what … they CAN”T !
Why did BG and PG Acquire them then, as not to win games? I agree with you, just saying that says a lot about our GMs
And this new comments section sucks too
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
on the road flyers, caps, bruins, pitts …does it really make a difference…like vs the sabres if we score first we win…this team has to win 2-1 and hang on while being dominated for large portions of the game…we have some of the most inept forwards in the nhl in scoring goals..it is a pure talent issue ..
there is a problem in the room , no scorers……boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
SOS SOS, someone call the Canadian Coast Guard there is a ship sinking in the St Lawrence and their jumping from all heights. Not enough lifejackets , send help at once. The SS Montreal is going down fast, looks like a mutiny and coach Martin won’t go down with the ship he’s throwing the young guys overboard. He’s got Gomez under one arm and Cammi under the other to help him float. Help help.
Boone, as much as I enjoy reading you, I’m making you my scapegoat for this week by challenging the hockey gods when you said that the 8-1 win over Minny was a week’s worth of goals for this team. You cursed the Habs with your tenacity!
No guts , no guts , left Patz ina heap on the ice and didnt raise a hand , no guts boooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Consistency is the key
People are saying they look tired. I don’t know. Everyone plays the same amount of games. Shouldn’t every team be tired at this juncture of the season? I think something happened. I would say the patches hit took the life out of them buty they played well after that. So…?
Tired from what, sucking? It was the Caps who were playing back-to-back. Good news is, Carolina lost. So Montreal is like 95% to make the playoffs.
I have wondered how the Max injury would impact the team. Mentally, they have gone somewhere else. No focus on the ice, no determination in their play, and no results.
One would think that the players would dig deep and be motivated by this loss. Price alone looks consistently into it. Everyone else is off and on with their focus. Funny, we used to question Price’s determination…
How do you get to the following page now, I don’t see a list of page numbers anywhere?
Cherry says this is Karma for running up the score in Minnesota…
He has a hate on for Montreal…..never won a series against us….
I didn’t like the way the players reacted after the horror show in Boston…….it was like..”oh well these things happen”…..Huh? Hey knuckleheads ya’ just got your ass kicked and you choose to accept it….?

Do you think the Canadiens can come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the series against the Lightning?
