Hi Avatar, Tension! Tension! Tension! So to ease it all, with your permission, I am gonna use your post to do some Confucius-like musing. I agree with you we shouldnt be here and I am very thankful to the players for giving me one of the best weeks of my life with their elimination of the CAPS. But I do not agree that this can now be considered a successful season becausE of that wonderful series. And I am not blaming the players. Whatever happens from now on, management MUST take responsibility for not crafting a better team during the season. I dont know if it was Gainey or Gauthier or JM. I dont know if it was the guy who handles the cap space and the ‘call up’ allotments. But there have been too many mistakes made in not, as you put it, properly tweaking the team to augment the core of Gomez/Gionta/Camilleri/etc etc. And we didnt have to go outside. White should have been added to the team to add size and character and give the team grit. The decision on keeping Pyatt with the team came too late. Bergeron’s early contribution to the power play should have been seen as just that.. a patch… an he should have been dispatched long ago. We could have certainly picked up a useful defenceman (not a star) with size and less downside. PAC, Maxwell, DAG, CHIP and yes the K brothers… all players whose situations an astute and decisive management TEAM( I stress team) would have resolved with much more immediately beneficial impact on the team and the season. We cannot give management a pass here. Next season will be as dismal as this one if the ‘modern methods’ of building a strong team is not learnt by those in charge… including whoever is coaching. Again I thank MOST of the players for the amazing thrill they gave us in the first round. But it wont make me forget the ugliness of the season, especially the way it ended. For Christ’s sake we couldnt WIN ONE GAME to secure our playoff spot. Successful… NO WAY!! Redeemed temporarily… MAYBE! Well it wasnt Confucius standard but it helped. Damn! I’m still tense! GO HABS GO!
Held hostage by a network that pays nothing for broadcast rights. The NHL will be negotiating this year as the deal endsin 2011 with NBC and VS. I’ve read a bidding war is in the offing as ABC and ESPN want the rights.
December 4, 2009 – Elmer Lach’s jersey took its rightful place with the Rocket’s in the rafters.
The Pens are the prime tenants, so they probably have a reservation clause in their contract. And touring bands will often put up a deposit fee to reserve a night at an arena when tentatively planning out a tour.
_____________________________________
Cheer for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
The scheduling is not about the NHL or NBC. It’s simple business common sense from the point of view of whoever is managing the Arena facilities. You can’t allow a client to “tentatively” book a date only to have the right to change that date at the expense of other clients. It’s not just the Mellon, it would have subsequent effects to further booked dates of the NHL schedule. The Molson, one of North America’s busiest facilties, can’t just role out schedule changes to it’s spring lineup and no can any other facility. It’s a domino effect.
Red Deer Ronnie doesn’t merit the respect to have his correct name used. He finds it funny that Charra mangles names, so as a result, I won’t bother calling him by his correct name either.
Yes, eighth seed. The difference between 8th and 5th is not very much at all – a few games on either end of the season and the Habs would have been higher. Consider the retooling of the team – new owners, new coach(es), new players… So we had a slow start. Markov out in the first game? Other significant injuries. A bounce the other way could have easily moved the Haps up in the standings. Maybe the season started with the Habs playing like an 8th seed but by the last half of the season the Habs were beginning to show more. This team can play.
To clarify: We get Bob Cole, Don Cherry, Glen Healy etc. Why on earth would I want to watch a broadcast that my tax dollars pay for, when they cheer for the other team?
If McDonagh goes back to school next season, the Rangers will still have a decent window of time to sign him after he finishes NCAA and before they would loose his rights. It is not an unusual situation. There is also some compensation I believe (a 2nd rounder?) if they are unable to sign the 1st round pick.
In one of his rare interviews, where he lets someone like Ron McLean ask “real” questions, why doesn’t someone ask him about the scheduling? He’s always harping on about “the integrity of the game”, or some other BS, but then he completely screws over teams like Mtl and Det to keep NBC happy. You cannot tell me there was anyway Detroit was able to prepare for game 1 (but at least they get some time to get ready for game 2). Maybe the quality of the hockey doesn’t matter to the NBC audience, since they don’t understand the game anyway. The compressed schedule during Olympic years in bad enough, but there is no reason to compress it during the playoffs. To 90% of hockey fans, a Saturday double-header with Mtl-Pit and Van-Chi would be an impressive way to start round 2.
The other problem with the lack of rest between games is injuries. Now, I know that Markov’s injury was the result of a clean hard hit (in spite of who made the hit), but as everyone knows, well rested players are less likely to get hurt on that play.
As for me, a guy who’s missed maybe 5-6 Habs games this year, I’ll check back with Boone and Sportscenter after supper. It sunny, warm and an early spring here in N.B. and I’ve got stuff to do. I’m sure, however, the guy in Podunk, Missouri is thrilled he’ll have something to watch this afternoon (unless he’s watching B-Ball, NASCAR, golf, etc.).
Heals is a PA guy and he spoke from his empathy for his brethern in red, not as a fan of “The Habs”. It’s not really the NHL’s fault that Habs are playing off of a tough 7 game series. It would be a little naive to think that they would change the schedule to accomodate any single team. I just can’t wait and see if NBC will switch to other programming if the game goes deep into OT!?!
JM needs to manage the ice time of the “tired’ players including sitting down our #1 Goalie. A win tonight (sorry - this afternoon, ugh) would be fantastic but it won’t happen unless we can outwork the smug Pens. If this can be accomlished then JM can give all players their regular icetime when back home for 2 games. 2-2 after 4 games would be better than expected so trying for 3 games to 1 is a little unrealistic.
Losing today’s battle is not the end of the war! I would save “our best” for games 3 and 4 and if they can manage a win today, then so much the better. Go Boys Go!
Can we loan Evander Kane from Atlanta for this series? For all the Matt Cooke haters out theres, and who am I kidding, we’re all Matt Cooke haters, here’s the video of Kane’s KO against Cooke. No wonder the kid was named after Holyfield.
Rangers, who conducted organizational meetings last week, are believed keenly interested in signing Ryan McDonagh, whose rights they acquired from Montreal in the Scott Gomez deal, but the Wisconsin defenseman has a fair amount of leverage as he awaits an offer.
McDonagh, who turns 21 next month, would play his senior year for the Badgers if he does not turn pro. If he remains unsigned through next year, McDonagh would become an unrestricted free agent as of Aug. 15, 2011.
Chances are, then, if the 6-foot-1, 215-pound McDonagh, who is regarded as a proficient, stay-at-home type physically ready for the NHL, does not sign this summer, he will not sign at all with the Blueshirts.
And though it would seem necessary for Sather to offer the Entry Level max, we’re hearing McDonagh will make his decision based less on the contract and more on his perception of the Rangers’ program.
how true/ its one thing for gramps to get it wrong but the dump ass mclean does nothing about it….bush league idiots the two of them and we pay these idiots to speak in a professional format..unreal.
i live in TO..i know all about it. funny thing is when i was a kid thats all the CBC talked about was the habs and the leafs. the lack of professionlism just kills me.
I agree. I just wish that Charra’s side kick Rod McLong would actually take some time to correct the old fart once in a while. Instead McLong sits there like a grinning idiot.
I watch RDS.A lot of Canadiens fans refuse to watch the CBC pukes telecast. They are a Toronto based mentality and have only one opinion…dislike for Montreal. It shows in their biased hockey programing.Never saw so much praise heaped on the Pens…jeez enough to turn a dogs stomach.Never a comment about anything remotely encouraging about Montreal’s players.Check it out this is CBC last year and every year.I watch RDS period.CBC will never get their viewing numbers from me.
All the so-called experts have already written us off. Just like they did agains the Caps. They were WRONG last time because they overlooked the one stat you won’t find on paper. Character. That means pride, effort and guts.
Once again, the experts will be proven to be WRONG.
By the way folks – perspective: We shouldn’t be here. We barely squeeked into the playoffs and magically witinessed the fall of the so called BEST team in the NHL. If that isn’t a damned successful season I don’t know what is. It was the first year of a rebuilt team that still needs tweaks and some trades.
They may yet get spanked by the Pens 4-0, but you know what? So what. 8th seed remember? It’s not that bad. Injuries to TWO key defenseman. They can whine about Staal as if we are supposed to care, but he’s nothing to his team compared to what Markov and Spacek are to the Habs – a team with already defensive woes at full strength.
The odds are overwhelmingly against the habs so even a win or 2 would be epic. GO HABS GO!
I’m excited for 2010-2011 when Subban and a tweaked team will take to the ice!
Hard to believe that loaf POS healy said that, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. He’s still on my (expletive deleted) list though, since i puke in my mouth every time he speaks.
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
Cherry is like that grandfather who always goes on and on about anything and everything. He might call you Bob when your name is Ted. You don’t correct him you just smile and nod and hope he falls back asleep on the coach.
how far can the boys dig down with our depth..iam always hopeful but something tells me it may not be for long.
ps…i wish i was in charge of HNIC.i would do anything in my power to fire all of those monkeys out the door so fast it would make there heads spin. cherry continues to be such an embarrasment he can’t even pronounce Halaks name right..what a farce and they call themselves professional….sad, sad.
If MAB plays more than 5 mins then the habs lose. Case closed. I really don’t care if they have to double shift the rest of them I don’t want to see MAB play against the Pens. It’s that simple.
Well that is he thing. He has been playing a lot of minutes. He playe almost 20 minutes last game. Also, I said 75% of the responsibility. I think hockey sense wise he is better than Bergeron at this point. Now what I am worried is that Bergeron will be playing a lot of minutes where I will be screaming at him numerous times.
the scheduling sucks and the boys showed it on friday. i would put both darche and Sk in the lineup, let Metro and his shoulder take a breather (he’s not making much of an impact anyway; start Price to see if he can steal one but more to give Halak a rest, and have him ready for 2 home games; and focus the game plan on aggressive physical contact, trying to put a bit of wear and tear on the pens. let’s ruffle some feathers today and make em pay for whatever they get…
(then again, i am typing this in my bathrobe while martin and muller and pearn are probably getting about 4 hrs of sleep a night working through it)
The problem with PK is on the bench. Martin will not play him top minutes, and you have to sort of understand why. I have issues with Martin but it’s tough to just toss a rookie in there no matter who it is. I really hope PK does everything he possibly can to show his coach that he DESERVES top minutes. I mean who else can they use? Top minutes should go to PK and Gorges, with the 2nd pairing Gill and Hamrlik/Obyrne.
Pittsburgh is the flag ship team for the No Broadcasting Cash (for the NHL) network. NBC which gives the league $0 in real dollars gets to call the shots. The networks that actually pay cash for NHL TV rights, CBC and TSN get screwed in favour of Bettman’s revenue-sharing arrangement.
Canada is irrelevant and a major irritant to Bettman. We are supposed to sit down, shut up and never question the great Bettman.
Who cares if 20 per cent of the league is propping up more than 50 per cent of the US teams. That’s irrelevant in Gary’s world.
Hockey will never be a major sport in the US and they’re just deluding themselves to think otherwise.
Alright… We have lost one of our best defenseman. But we did discover one that can hold his own in PK Subban. He ha the speed and skills and he definately has the confidence. So I think he can fill 75% of Markov’s hockey sense. The other 25% will have to be Hamerlik. he has been weak or tired at times but he is the one that came through when Markov was down earlier in the year. As for Gill and Gorges. They should just continue playing the way they can.
Now for the forwards… I can’t not stand Andrei Kostitsyn anymore. he frustrates me almost more than the loafs. He shows up one game out of 10 and then you don’t see him for the next 9 games. He doesn’t hit, makes stupid mental errors (hence the 4th goal in Game 1), and he doesn’t look interested. I don’t know if it is a Russian thing but I don’t like his lack of enthusiasm for the team. I say we shouldn’t keep him next year. I do understand he has potential and he has a great shot and speed. but it isn’t any use if he doesn’t want to use his skills.
Gionta, Gomez must show their leadership this game. Gionta made a stupid mental erro by putting the puck over the glass for a delay of game call. Gomez on the other hand must just do what he has done all year. Be patient and skate deep in the Pittsburgh zone.
I also believe that Darche should play. Here is what I would do to mix up hte lines a little. I would put Pouliot back on teh first with Gomez and Gionta. he played really well last game. Then i would put Moen on the second line as he was effective there last game. I would try to put in Darche somewhere in there. I would may be replace Metropolit since we know he is playing injured. The 3rd line must stay intact.
Well good game everyone and be this time tomorrow it will be 1-1 series tie.
And they wonder why ratings for hockey are in the toilet. Here in the Northeast US the tempersatures will be in the high 80′s. Who the heck is going to be watching this game live? I’m a Habs fan and I’ll be taping it and watching it tonight. Crazy. Moreover, why did Montreal play on Friday when Boston and Philly were off for nearly a week?? Same for Detroit who got screwed.
The fact that Milbury has TV jobs on NESN (which is fine he’s a Bruins alumni) CBC and NBC speaks volumes about the lack of credible and entertaining candidates out there. I say hire Jeremy Roenick. I really miss the class and dignity of John Davidson too. He was a true pro.
This is just another reason for our boys to dig down a little deeper and take home a split in games. And besides, the worse thing that can happen is we take two at home and get the split that way.
We never go the easy route, havent you noticed. We have always played up to the competition all year and we always take the enemy to the edge before pushing them over.
If the Stanley Cup play offs were a cake walk we would be eating Sarah Lee instead of Chris.
A second wind will have to come on the plane, there is no time for rest, the Habs play every second day from now on.
I hate to sound like a broken record but the time for rest was in game #1. We were destined to lose that game and the guys sitting out could have given a couple of key players a rest.
Tim Peel use to ref in the OHL and he only sees the game his way. I have seen many good games from him, but when he is bad he is very bad.
He is one that refs the score at times. Makes cheep calls on teams that he has had a hard time controlling. Worse thing you could do is show him up, he thinks he is the show!
See you at Copps today Chuck. Where you sitting? I’m in section 109, can’t miss 50 of us, we’re all wearing various Habs jerseys and I have RetroMikey on the back of mine.
I’ve got my buddy downloading the game on my PVR for me so I ‘ll watch the Habs when I get home from the Bulldogs game.
It’s funny when the Bulldogs are adavancing, the stands are getting more and more filled up.
That is why this city of ours will never get an NHL team.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
Oh, you get told you’re out to lunch often? Not a suprise. Last guy I would blame on a 1 vs Goalie play would be the keeper. Shooter gets to skate across the front of the net and has all the advantages.
When will you guys figure out that SK doesn’t have the work ethic to make this squad? He proves it again and again. We won against Wash without him. Clearly the coaching staff is not willing to risk putting him out there anymore. He’ll have to change their minds in practice or wait till next year.
This is over in 4 games. At least Boston would’ve put up some sort of a fight against the Pens. This is basically just giving them a bye to the conference final. With this coaching and lack of effort they’d be lucky to even score.
How anti-clamactic after such a thrilling series against Washington.
AK and SK need to go. Extremely poor work ethic on both these guys. If I was their teammate and saw that kind of lack of effort, I’d want them gone as well.
not a good feeling today. pens so balanced will take advantage of the unforced errors all over the ice….could be scarey. missing markov and spacek big time.
MAB played about 2 and a half minutes in a row there… what was he doing halfway through the PP, he was skating with Talbot and then just let him go. thankfully talbot bobbled the puck but come on bergeron, use your damn head.
I followed this team 3000 Kilometers for 3 games to game 6, and 7 against the Caps, and Friday night, and they didnt play five minutes like this, this first period is a wash, as a matter of fact, i dont remember them playing like this since the last week of the regular season.
FK Pittsburgh, we can beat this team, but they have to WANT 2. Like they did against the CAPS.
What’s that, 2 shifts for the game? I don’t blame JM though, he tries them once and Pitt. scores their only goal. This game better not go to OT. How much fatigue can this team take?
CBC provides evidence of Crosby’s being the whiner that he is but don’t as far as saying so. “Anyone else would have been called for unsportmanlike conduct” in the stick throwing incident.
AK a LEGITIMATE top six forward regardless of his supposed attitude problems played two shifts 1:24 and Maxwell ONE shift and 1:10.
Can JM explain why an offensive talent is sitting and his talented brother is in the press box?? He puts AK on the PP then sits him for the rest of the game? He does not play SK who can play the PK and generate offense for Maxwell who plays ONE shift???
JM still manages to get MAB on against the Crosby line?????
Andrew, I don’t think that is going to happen though unless all 3 sit together in the pressbox. Its hard to know whats up AK46′s rump but he is not plying well at all.
You’re right that they haven’t given him reason to put them on, but putting them on with the bottom D pairing was JM’s fault, as was playing Maxwell at all.
It’s a message. Thos K-bros just aren’t playing playoff hockey. So many lazy defensive mistakes, no intensity, stupid plays that lead to goals. JM is saying, no matter who you are, you don’t play team hockey, you’re gone.
Is it a penalty only because it was a goal scoring opportunity? It was a clean hit, a one second contact as the player who was about to get the puck got hit.
Is that any worse than the 2-3 sometimes 4 second late hits that are happening all over the ice?
It was a smart play by Gill, would it have been called the same if it was Gonchar on Gionta on the other end? I THINK NOT.
18-3 shot advantage for Pitts. that period. it almost makes you laugh, Montreal’s style. Chip puck out, clog up middle of ice, let Halak steal game. Massive PK coming up.
Once again I can’t believe people on this site would rather Price have started…..it’s such a bizare thing too say at this point and time…..This is the Jaro Halak decade, here now and a lot more too come …La pieace du resistance,Creme de la creme and our best player by miles ……
I don’t mind the JM patented Protect A Lead (PAL ™) so much these days. They seem to have worked the kinks out of it during the season. But it can be cause for heart palpitations.
Crosby. So far it’s get on him and don’t lose sight of him. He doesn’t float all the time like Ovie but he gets ticked off when he gets crowded. Keep at him!
PK is really even better than I thought. I am super impressed with his poise and defensive play. We have been looking for a 2nd elite Dman to go with Markov for so long. Well here he is.
SK must have shown JM a whole lot of disrespect to still be in the doghouse. I wonder what happened? They sure are keeping it quiet. And what is wrong with Spacek?? That must be some kind of virus!!
I don’t get JM’s decision to sit Metro and put in 2 guys who are warming the bench. Our 3 lines are tired and will have no gas left to combat the Pens onslaught which we know will keep coming stronger in the 3rd.
Some props to Bob Gainey here. Montreal’s playoff run is being fueled by the character guys he picked up—Gionta, Cammalleri, Gill, Gomez, Josh Gorges, Travis Moen, Tom Pyatt, and others.
The Habs are an exhausted hockey team and are playing like one but they are trying to play smart hockey. Hopefully they are able to hold off the onslot that will come at them this period. We are lucky to be ahead but that is how some games are won.
Not a NHL 4th line and we’re in the playoffs, what can we expect? White should be here at the least, Sergei should be out there as well. Can’t have passengers in a long playoff drive but that’s where we are right now.
I hate how Crosby doesn’t get a penalty for breaking his stick on the net in which Halak was in – then continues to skate with the broken shaft up the ice only to throw it back into the zone at the blue line. Any other player does that and its for sure 2 minutes.
Big PK to start the 3rd – hold them off here and we’re going to hang on to win.
It’s so strange how Halak seems to fit into the Habs’ D so much better than Price. In spite of all the chances the team gives up, none of them are impossible saves, so Halak is never charged with doing the impossible. The resulting effect is that Halak responds to his heavy yet manageable workloads by putting up amazing performances, which seem to inspire the Habs D into giving him the continued shot blocking/no back door play support he needs. It’s a cycle that never seems to establish itself when Carey plays.
This isn’t to knock Halak or excuse Carey. It’s just observational.
Amazing victory…back on our heels most of the game, badly outshot and outplayed - BUT seldom outworked. And Jaro was great, again! Still amazed at all of the people calling for Price before this game, like Jro isnb’t the man or something…

“Peoples will only be truly free when the last king is strangled by the bowels of the last priest” Francois Laignelot -
I can’t even believe this team. Just outstanding character, minus AK46. Hope he wises up next game. I’m pretty sure both K-bros are gone this off season regardless….. Anyone still want to start Price? You guys will never learn. Halak showed you how tired he really was.
The camera panned by the point at the end, and I see a number 7 on the left side making I nice pass, it really feels like Markov is still playing. Subban is going to be Markov 2.0 pretty soon, hell he is right now.
I don’t know if there’s any other unfortuate souls stuck where they can’t get RDS, heck I’d even settle for TSN/CBC…But I live in NC right now and I had to watch NBC.
Those guys can suck it. The whole game, Milbury (mostly) and McGuire are just blowing their loads all over the Penguins. Nothing new, I know, but it really got to me today. At the 2nd intermission, they’re discussing the obvious Penguins comeback in the 3rd: Milbury: “I’d take Sid and the Pens.” McGuire: “Good choice.” Well now they look stupid. I’m ambivalent about ChromeDome but Milbury is such a douche.
The NHL’s scheduling can also suck it. They screw the Habs to squeeze in an afternoon “OMG Sidny!!!1″ game on NBC, probably expecting a dominant, blowout win to draw in new fans. I can so picture Bettman rubbing his hands at the tought of it. Instead, they get served a dose of solid defensive hockey, and the Golden Boy loses, which probably won’t be drawing ANYONE South of the border in any time soon.
And final little bit for my rant, man, what’s with the Pittsburgh crowd? Do they not know it’s the playoffs? That you’re supposed to make noise? God what spoiled fans, some Habs fans would give up their pinky finger for Crosby, Malkin and a Cup.
Mike “The Situation” Cammalleri is now second in playoff scoring with 13 points and first in goals with 8. Not too mention the fact that the next two games are in Montreal, and he tends to step it up big time at home. This should be good.
I flipped between CBC and NBC for the first period, and just couldn’t listen to Bob Cole and Gary Galley any longer. I watched NBC for the 2nd and 3rd.
Hats of to all the team for this one, but lets not forget that the coaching staff has done wonders here. 3 cheers for the great preparation given before games. Ole Ole Ole
Ok, so now we know Montreal does have what it takes to make this a close
series, and its the same game we played Washington with. We frustrated
Sidney Crosby w/ our young star, youngster, P.K Subban(76). Ron MacLean
called P.K. a young Bobby Orr. But if I hear the same thing from Cherry
then I’ll know its true.
Halak, again walked on water for the Habs tonight. When Halak is on, the
team is on; it is definitely a light switch that gets turned on. They
play as 1. Every Game they have won they have won by design and again I
give it up for the coach as well…Martin and Co. constructed the Blue
Print for success… But remeber folks Gainy was the master
draftsman/tradesman in all of this, In partial absentia Gainey is still
the helsman.
Get this. I had to work today so I pvr’d the game. My wife was working too. I just got home, not knowing the score, excited to watch. Go to my recordiings, no game. It seems my wife came home on her lunch and decided to record a movie. I’m so freakin’ mad! Glad we got the win though.
I couldn’t stand it any longer. I switched to RDS about a minute before the Habs first goal. I don’t understand much french but I watch a lot of games on RDS and would much rather that than Cole or McGuire.
Watching the replay on CBC of the Crosby turnover that lead to the backbreaking third goal by Cammy.
I AM NOT COMPARING CROSBY TO AK OR SK! But I am just saying even the BEST player in the world makes what seems to be a lazy mistake sometimes. It is part of the game guys!
But if you continually punish EVERY mistake with a benching I just don’t see the upside to the team or the player. My two cents.
Wowzer, what an introduction for me to the delights of hockey on big screen high definition TV. It almost felt like I was there.
Bettman’s plan for a nationwide Crosby show in the USA at the expense of your tired Montreal Canadiens was spoiled by a team of great discipline and character with, dare I say it, skillful coaching. We are off and in the running in this series.
We are capable of taking out the defending champions.
- Another solid game from Halak. Don’t feel that he had to make as many spectacular saves as he did against Washington, but he was in great position all night long.
- Oustanding job from the entire D corps, notably another standout performance from Gorges and Gill and very good games from PK and Hamrlik. Hamr looks like he is once again stepping up his game with Markov out. Have to say that Markov was not playing his best hockey, but his loss is as much a mental challenge to overcome as a hockey one. He is the supposed leader of that D group and the PP is supposed to run through him. Would be nice to get spacek back in and play 7 D again so we can put Bergeron in situations that he can deal with. Hopefully Markov just has a sprain and can make it back towards the end of the series. If it is any kind of a ligament tear, he is done for the year likely, and the Habs will need him if they want to make a run any deeper than this round.
- The vets stepped up on offence again, with Cammilleri, Gio, and Gomez leading the charge again. But like Hamr, Pouliot also played his best game of the playoffs thus far today. Lapierre has brought consistent energy. Obviously Maxwell is not ready for the NHL and Darche didn’t get much use, so I’d rather have Metro back and either Spacek or if not SK74 fill that last position in the lineup. It’s one thing for JM to be mad at a player, and maybe we don’t know what he did, but it’s not like we can do anything with him this season and the Habs need players right now to take some quality minutes, as the stars cannot continue to play every 2-3 shifts all game. SK74 at least has that potential. very happy with the split in Pittsburgh, would like to see the habs respond with a more complete game on Tuesday and take the lead in the series. That would really put the pressure on Pittsburgh. Fleury has looked shaky and he is giving up juicy rebounds. Pittsburgh is as much there for the taking as Washington was. they will likley dominate each game but if we hang in and remain opportunistic we have a good chance.
And Halak is in the heads of another team. All the experts said that the Penguins would be more patient and pick corners on Halak, looks like that isn’t gonna happen.
i eat my words. said earlier pens would come out stronger than 1st game. an excellent character win..lots of guts. kudo’s to undermanned D..hardly any 2nd and 3rd shots…halal playing back to form..love it.
I still don’t get the idea of dressing AK and sitting him the entire game. Dress SK and see if he’ll play a bit. Or dress AK and play him to see if he works hard and if he doesn’t then sit him. But dress him with the explicit plan to play him 1 minute? Why? Let him eat hotdogs for a game.
I F’n hate the whining little prick, more so than Ovechkin, though after the Washington series it’s closer.
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
Don’t buy it. He was already skating earlier. Either he has an ear problem and can skate but can’t shake it enough to follow a game at the speed he needs to or maybe he even has an injury that has nothing to do with a virus or his ear.
I watched today’s tilt at the Cage aux Sports close to my house with a bunch of friends and family. It was crazy atmosphere. And an awesome game. Jaro…man…how’d he last 11 rounds? And how many GMs are wishign they had picked up Mike Cammalleri and ya think Sutter regrets letting him walk? You know what? I don’t really care!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
The best thing is that the NBC audience watched the Habs beat the Pens today with stifling defensive hockey, shutting down the Pens’ two most prolific scoring superstars in the process with a 3-1 chess match.
Hmmmm…funny how Gomez singled out Muller for praise on making adjustments to the PK and no mention of JM. Just saying. I noticed after game seven Muller was again mentioned by several players and not JM.
I watched the game on NBC because Cole is such an idiot. I think he has pre Alzheimer’s. is that guy ever going to retire? I can’t believe there’s nobody more qualified that him.
and I’m getting really sick of hearing about Crosby. it’s Crosby this and Crosby that, and how fantastic he is. it’s nauseating. enough already.
I hate to say this, but I was kind of wishing that hit on MAB would be serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for good. his giveaways I can’t take. you know 1 of them will result in a goal for Pitt. Why can’t we just bring up another Dman from Hamilton? I mean they do have emergency callup. I just can’t take MAB anymore!
What do people think Craig Adams should get as a suspension?
A) 0 games
B) 1 game
C) 2 games
D) 3 games
E) More than 3 games
I would personally say 2 games. I think the NHL will give him 1 though. He is a nobody compared to most of the Pitssburgh lineup so it won’t matter much to them I’m sure, but that’s a moot point. I think a hit like that is worse than what Lapierre did and he got 4 regular season games. I think the NHL will look and say Bergeron’s fine now and completely miss the point of how dangerous the hit was. Also did not like the hit that Cammalleri took earlier, should have been charging and could have hurt him badly the way Markov was hurt going into the boards from 3 feet out.
ALL TOGETHER NOW…….”HALAK IS IN THEIR HEADS!!!!!” We shut down the world’s two best players for at least one game each. Where are all the JM haters now?
Pens said they wouldn’t play the way Caps did. They’re smarter. DIDN’T THIS GAME LOOK JUST LIKE GAME 6 and 7 LAST ROUND?
Jim-out. I WILL ALWAYS AND NEVER STOPPED TO BELIEVE!
Saw 87 on HNIC. What’s with the penguin crap all over his hat??? This team is peaking at the right time. Only problem is they have to peak for 3 more rounds.

Game 1′s loss was my fault. I deviated from all my superstitions and i got drunk enough that the game almost seemed like a forgetable bad dream. Today, i brought all my routines back, geared down and let the habs stress me to the max. And i loved it.
What a F@#$ing idiot you are wishing MAB goes down. We are allready down 2 d-men and then to lose our best shot on the PP. Yes he is scarey back on defense and was -1 today as were 5 other Habs. Wish they get hurt too? And who do we bring up? Bonehead.
I guess Crosby should sit next game for making that dumbass cross ice pass that lead to the Pleks intercept and pass to Cammy for the third goal? Mistakes happen and JM has to get over it unless every move he makes is perfect.
That’s what I was thinking yesterday too but if you watch the video of him at practice he is very slow, and usually away from the team. Someone posted what he had on here and it sounds like its a very lingering problem, could plague him for a while.
Best of all, the biggest part of his “celebration” is pointing to the guy who passed him the puck. Acts like he’s done it before and expects to do it again soon.
Great goaltending can take you a long way. Look at Ward in 2003. When was the last time a team won it all, when the goalie wasn’t at least considered for the Conn Smythe trophy?
This summer we need to package AK and SK out of here for some big guys who can actually play. Also, Paul Mara should be gone… I never really got to know if I liked him or not but he led the team in the – category all year….
What a game though… This team has far surpassed the happiness that the 07-08 Habs brought to me.
I still maintain that Bob knew what he was doing all along. Way to go sir, you’ve done the city well.
Planning on marketing some T-shirts with that slogan Chuck?
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
I’ve thought the same about the doghouse brothers, SK and AK. Maybe Gilbert Brule from Edmonton (RW, power forward type) would be good. If we don’t resign Moore, I think getting Cogliano for the third line would be smart, he’s scored 18 goals twice before, has speed.
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
I know it’s still early in his career, but Halak is going to be the best goalie in the world for a long time. The guy just has to work on a couple of things and he’ll be scary. It’s funny that everyone thought we had a legendary goaltender for the past few years, and the whole time we actually did, it just turned out that it people had pegged the wrong guy!
You mean 5’10″ Brule? That’s not power forward size by the least and he’s reading like a serious Top 10 bust on his stats so far. Cogliano’s got 18 goals because of his speed and that is it, he has no finish in him. We don’t need Oilers to get ahead, honestly.
You want to poach for a power forward? Kyle Beach from the WHL, CHI has his draft rights. 52G this season in the WHL, 6’3″ winger and is considered a potential Top-3 player on an NHL team.
i love this team. there has not been a team in montreal with this much character in a long time. do you pay a guy for his regular season contributions or what he does now? gomez has been outstanding, he is used in virtually every situation in a game. nobody is complaining about his salary now. just remember this next november. imagine if pleks can get going, we would be lights out.
JM says that Metro was a healthy scratch because he wanted more SPEED in the lineup. Darche, Maxwell and AK had a COMBINED 3:40 in the game. WHAT JM?????????
Price should never have started any game ever, nor should he ever start until next season, if he’s even still here, which is a big if. After Halak’s last 3 games vs. Wash., you want to start can’t win Price for game 1? Just leave the goaltending decisions up to the experts, because if it was up to you, this team wouldn’t even have made the playoffs.
sure, you sound like kelly hrudey. reward the guy who got you to the next round by sitting him. come on. if that was done and price laid an egg, martin would be shot.. some people criticize everything martin does..
Is anyone in the Montreal media going to ask the NHL why a player who takes his stick swings it wildly against the other goaltenders post is not at least given a penalty. Then he carries the broken shaft and throws its. How about going after crosby and asking him how he would feel if that was a Montreal player that did that. If Crosby the class of the league I think he needs to answer for this. I think the fans of Montreal deserve a answer from the NHL why he can do such a thing.
He has a goal and 7 assists so far in 9GP, point production like that in the playoffs is very valuable. He isn’t worth 7.4 million of course, but he’s given a lot so far for the team. I’ll take his overpayment if he’ll play at his best in the post-season, Marleau and Thornton are costing the Sharks like 13 million to do nothing.
I’m sure Metro is still injured, but that was definately a dumb move. Maxwell hasn’t played a game in like 6 weeks and sucks, AK, you have to start, and Darche is Darche. Metro had the most PP goals on the team and is a veteran, character guy. He definately is more usefull than Maxwell as a 4th line center. Don’t get that move at all. i’m sure he’ll go back to him in MTL.
Working all day, glad to see the win and awesome performances by Halak and Cammy. Loving Subban being a major part of that win, look at those solid minutes he ate up!!
Well, let me just be the first to say…I agree…with your second sentence
Man these guys have some heart and soul, don’t they? Hard to figure them out all season, apart from their unwillingness to roll over, then they turn in performances like this and wow! This is going to be some good team for a few years to come.
Looking forward to more playoff hockey! Split is nice considering the absolutely insane scheduling by the NHL. The Hab’s are doing it with Halak and proving all the doubters (including me early on) wrong. Could be another magical spring like 1993 was. GO HABS GO!!!
This year he has been not bad. Aside from his obsession with Price and keeping Max Pac and D’Ags on this team so long, he hasn’t been too dumb. It’s the last 5 years where he was really a failure. In his defense, at least he recognised that and dumped everybody.
To put this into perspective. Matts Sundin got kinda pissed once and threw hisbroken stick into the stands – that got him a one game suspension. The #87 play was a lame thing to do seeing that Moore just made a nice play on him. Earlier in the year Cammy whipped his stick after getting a flagrant Hi Stick (that actually got lodged into his helmet) – no penalty on that play (for the hi stick either)
It being right beside Halak made it a tad dangerous – but i think this just proves that #87 is losing his shit a little bit – I’m happy about it.
Cammalleri is just a BEAST in the playoffs and Subban? Wow does he ****ing LOVE being put in a big game situation, you could almost forget at times we were missing Markov.
Why do you have to start AK? He has only shown up for one playoff game. Cooke’s goal today was AK’s fault as AK slept in the face off and his man slip behind him. His bad dump last game cost us. AK has all the skill in the world nut no heart, no hockey sense, no team play and nothing between the head. Time to trade him, perhaps as a package with his brother.
I agree Gomez has had a hell of a playoffs so far. But for some people to deny the negative impact his salary will have on the future of this franchise is delusional. I am beginning to warm up to the player but his salary still makes me want to punch BG.
The Habs have too much class for that. I sense the Habs are getting into their heads. Lots of hockey to play but Gomez, Cammy, Gionta are looking like great signings. Habs beat them rolling 3 lines and playing as a unit on the back of outstanding netminding and PK duty. Nice seeing Moen on the second line in place of AK.
I owe the Habs and all of their fans a huge apology. I didn’t wear my Cammalleri jersey last game and look what happened. Wore it again this afternoon and Cammy nails two and we win. We’ve won every time I’ve worn it. It’s the jersey – I’m tellin’ ya. I promise, I won’t wash it and will wear it for every game here on out. ;o))
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!”
I haven’t seen a defensive system( Trap or whatever it is) executed to perfection like this since the NJ devils used it to win the cup those times. This is really impressive stuff . Halak can be our Brodeur except he faces double the shots.
The Pens switched up the faceoff alignment having a Dman taking the winger spot opposite AK and Cooke was the floater. Who was AK supposed to cover?
Maybe someone?….JM, Halak, MAB or O’Byrne could have yelled at AK to cover Cooke coming late? Maybe JM should NOT have had their FIRST shift take place just outside of our own blueline FIVE minutes into the game? Maybe JM should NOT have had the fifth and sixth Dmen on with the fourth line with two forwards NEW to the line? NOOOOOOOOO….it is all AK’s fault.
In terms of offensive contributions, but Markov was also the steadying veteran partner of O’Byrne who really needs a vet next to him to guide him and help him out. Markov hasn’t been at his best, but looking at old highlights of him versus this season, his skating is not 100% after the tendon injury and that’s made it hard for a guy in his style, a skating defencemen to play at his best. He’s still very smart with the puck, but his weakened skating makes it harder for him to do what he usually does. He’ll have to work on restoring that in the off-season but if he can’t completely, he’ll have to adjust his game to compensate for it.
Even if Markov hasn’t been an ace in each game these playoffs, his making OB not a liability on D was huge for us. The confidence OB gets from playing next to Markov made a big difference in those final games against Washington.
Get set for a steady diet of that for the foreseeable future.
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
Another GREAT shutdown game by our defense…..and with the obvious missing….that says a lot. WHOLE NEW SERIES NOW…..HA HA HA HA….man iam loving this team more and more…..they will never die….CAMMY in UNREAL and Thanks again HALAK !!!!!! Man your solid boeyyyyy . MAB took a hard DIRTY hit….hope there’s no concuss…..AHHHH, A CROSBY AND MALKIN SHUTDOWN – LUV IT
Missed the game – in a big duplicate tournament. Les Boys have a lot of heart. Sounds like Halak was up to his old tricks, too. Hope Markov can somehow get back.
Watching the 3rd period today just seemed like watching the last games of the Washington series all over again. The Penguins threw the kitchen sink at us and still managed to lost. Halak was, yet again, simply amazing, after a lackluster performance in game 1. The guys in front also blocked a lot shots. And their star looked awfully frustrated and it showed in his game.
Bettman will declare that Cammy’s high stick should have received a 60 minute penalty, which will be assessed next game. Cammy will also be suspended for the playoffs, and the game will be moved to Pittsburgh after NBC demands it.
If Price and the power play hadn’t crapped the bed in the 07-08 playoffs we could be having a very different conversation. However, you are absolutely correct about Max Pac and D’Ags… Hopefully Max Pac is still salvageable because I think D’Ags is a lost cause no matter where he plays from now on
Not only did he break the blade off on our net, he then proceeded to throw the shaft over his shoulder. He should have been penalized. Plain and simple. But you know…it was Crosby.
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
I think jm wanted more of a defensive presence out there hey Andrew total time on ice combined for darche and Maxwell 1:58 that says a hell of a lot more don’t you think?
I noticed that too. Gionta’s the same with his celebrations, very restrained. Compare with Staal’s mouth-agape pterodactyl scream after his goal last game.
i would still like to see some changes in the offseason no matter how far we go and i think we know what they should be thats for another time… for now we ride it and hang on and play hard. here’s hoping the bubble does not burst any time soon.
i love all the talking heads..there almost at a loss for words on the success we are having..boggles and frustrates me.
I hadn’t shaved during the playoffs. Today, I woke up, went to the bathroom, took a shower, brushed my teeth, flossed, took out the shaver and made my face as smooth as a baby’s butt.
Took a deep breath and said “No such thing as superstition”.
I love that to, I imagine that is how Beliveau, Cournoyer and Robinson would act after scoring a huge goal. Compare that to the theatrics of the Great Ape.
I agree, and have been saying that for years.. He looks like tiger woods, always a shade away from crying. he should have got a penalty for that slash off of the post. the ref seen it for christ’s sake!! I hope gill stays in his face and keeps him crying like a little girl!!
So excited with these Habs right now… second round? 1-1 with the Stanley Cup champions? Are you kidding me? Cami matched Crosby every step. Halak’s positioning was perfect ( yes Boone, he IS in their heads).
Biggest weapon? The idea that the Penguins (the Cup last year, Sidney’s Gold) are manifest destiny.
Mike Boone? No matter what happens, Puck Bard is now the Habs official fanboy.
The team REALLY got to Crosby tonight. He was raging from the moment Montreal tied it in the 1st. I’m really surprised he didn’t get a couple unsportsmanlike calls during the game.
Last game was basically as bad as it can get, a tired team with an even more tired goalie facing a well rested, well coached team. Highly doubt Pittsburgh will be able to pick our PK apart again.
My hate for them is building for sure, I’m really hoping Cooke gets injured. Normally I would never hope for a person to get injured, but Cooke deserves it. I wish we had Evander Kane…
Great roundup by the CBC crew between the 1st and 2nd. Pitts first goal was caused because Andrei didn’t even check who he was up against. He can’t tell the difference between Gonchar and Matt Cooke.
I love how you blame a player who is put in a position he is not used to and is bound to fail in. Why not assess blame on the COACH who put that whole five man unit in a ridiculous situation?
Put players in positions where they can excel and make a positive contribution NOT in positions they are unused to and with a high possibility of failure…. ie MAB, AK, SK and Maxwell.
I’d rather the team got a good rest, but today’s game is great for me. I’ve been watching the Internet feeds all season long, but I recently got a television as a gift from my family, and today will be the first time I see a hockey game on a large screen in high definition. I remember Mike Boone said it makes a big difference. I’m looking forwrd to it. I will eventually get cable or satellite tv, probably before the World Cup begins.
If you don’t have cable or satellite TV then you won’t have HD. You need a HD reciever along with special channels to get HD TV. Your TV sounds like it is HD ready though, so this is something else to look forward to when you upgrade. Enjoy the game on your new TV, it still will be better then on a computer screen.
I think the guy who has quietly impressed me these playoffs is Moore. He has won a lot of battles and scored some nice goals. I’d be more than happy to bring him back as our third line centre for cheap.
For the past five years I have been listening to the games on CJAD from TAJIKISTAN at 4am (and 3am with Daylight Savings Time), North West PAKISTAN (at 4:30am with really shady satellite phone as a connection), from my honeymoon in MALAYSIA at 7am, and now back in AFGHANISTAN where the games start at 3:30am. I’ve missed about 20% of the games, much to the delight of my new wife.
Sadly, the connection is never good enough for me to actually watch the games- so I always listen to Murray and Rick – of whom, both have been solid supporters of my support via email and the like.
Tomorrow (or today for most of you), I have a flight at 7am Afghan time which means I would normally miss the 3rd period. I have made my arrangements to get SMSs from people around the world while I sit in the hideously dull Kabul airport. YET, today, the Satanic Curses of Bettman and American Media, have somehow given me a moment of destiny so I can actually listen to this full game. It’s a sur-real moment. A friend of mine in Ireland is always revelling in this as he gets to watch (better internet on the Isle) it online at 7pm (like a civilized person residing on the East Coast or in Brazil or even Guyana) instead of 12am.
So, before Boone and all blow curses galore at Bettman and his greedy dementia, please know that for the first time in many many years, there are a few dozen loyal freaks in the world who are happy tonight/this morning/now for this sick piece of scheduling. Now, while it’s clear it’s destiny for me and these few in odd time zones, let’s just hope it’s destiny for the Habies.
I can only assume you’re doing some good out there in Kabul otherwise why would you be there… This is our sunshine moment (as it looks like it’s about to rain here north of Victoria BC) Hearing your story and how the unfair schedule actually works for you is all I need to hear to stop complaining about it. The boys know they’re in tough. They’ll play with their hearts on their sleeves and hopefully having the odds stacked against them (again) will channel some sort of herculian effort today. They can count on the adrenaline of the home crowd to get them thru thursday. I’m sure we’ll be playing next Saturday, and as we all know by now, anything can happen. Get some rest (Habs and troops) We’re pulling for all of you.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can
free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy, ‘Cause none of
them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While
we stand aside and look? Ooh! Some say it’s just a part of it We’ve
got to fulfil de book.
Won’t you help to sing These songs of
freedom? ‘Cause all I ever have Redemption songs Redemption
songs Redemption songs.
Ahhh…now I need to smoke!

I like Letang as a player, but he goes up to Gionta to hit him when Gio doesn’t have the puck, Gio defends himself and Letang looks at the official? Grow a pair. What a scumbag move.
Hopefully we won’t re-sign Bergeron. Solid PP specialist but the Habs really need to focus on the core of D. Subban will take his spot. I don’t expect Hamrlik to be a Hab next season. He will be traded or either bought out.
When MAB first signed here, I was excited to see what he could bring to the PP. When he got here, I was disappointed and didn’t care much for his defense. When he moved to forward, he became less of a liability and his contributions to the Pp were surprisingly good. But as a D, even against teams that are skilled teams and not just grinders and hitters, he is floundering. At least I feel like he’s trying (unlike AK46), but come on man, it’s pretty clear why 29 other teams passed on him and why he shouldn’t be invited back next year.
Anyone else here feel the pens are a really dirty team? a lot of high hits, subtle picks and interference, behind the play hits, and a lot of stick work like subtle hooking/stick lifting and the works. Washington played nothing like that
Pittsburgh’s goal – Y does Martin play Maxwell, Darche, A. Kostitsyn with O’byrne and MAB?…..thats definately a great line >.>….. Halak….well.. never been really good on 1 vs. 1′s….hasn’t been tested much at all, but hopefully he is still steady
Montreal’s Goal – definately a momentum change…sort of……we were outshot 9-3…then came back outshooting them 12-9….so, good for Gio with good play by Gomez and Puliot
Weber had a setback this season in the AHL and he doesn’t offer an upgrade in size/checking ability and I haven’t seen much from him in the Dogs games I’ve watched. We need a 7th defender who can hit, I suspect Montreal will shop for a 7th man in the off-season for about a million.
Ok Two problems with the CBC(so im watching the game on nbc) One the regular NBC channel is HIgh def, why does cbc have to have a special channel for high def
two Glenn Heally Decent broadcaster my ***. Seriously he is slagging the habs for dumping in the puck and not being able to get it. The clip he shows is a change where they dump it in an turn back to change the line. I never thought there would be someone worse than McGuire. Guess i was wrong
As for the game, I don’t think it was to bad after it all settled down. Boring to watch a bit, but I think the pace and flow of the game is good for us.
i, like many, have been critical of CBC’s “coverage” of the playoffs, but so far in today’s game they have come up with 2 fantastic moments.
1. The Friedman report, where they quote MAB, who crediting his junior coach with turning him into an NHL player, as saying “If you think i’m bad on defence now, you shoudl have seen me then!” Classic.
2. The intermission right now where they caught Muller on the bench completely eying up JM after his questionable coaching decision that lead to the Pens goal. That is GREAT coverage.
So kudos CBC, for entertaining and enlightening me thus far this afternoon
They completely wasted a call-up with Maxwell and SK sitting in the press box does nothing for us. You don’t get to the Finals with 3 lines and 4 Defencemen.
Healy is usually pretty brutal as a broadcaster/analyst. He is one of of those guys who seems to be pretty motivated by his own agenda and nothing else.
I think anytime you can let the regulars get an extra 90 seconds of recoup time on the bench, that is a good thing. I’ll bet they’ll see more time when JM can control the matchups. Right now they are Anaerobic Recovery Assistants, and that’s it.
i think maxwell is way out of his element. he should just spend his days on the dogs until Boucher coachs the Habs. he just looks lost and we took him right before Lucic.
Some of the shots were from far and not that dangerous… stats are decieving. I thought that our D is doing a good job at limiting the dangerous shots. Not saying they are playing great.. they are great at pushing the Pens to the outside and force the tough shots…
We were dominated, and spent the period in our own zone. Back on the heels the whole period. Shots were 18-3 for sh*t sakes! Not sure which game you are watching…?

Can’t b*itch about the scheduling. It’s the Habs own fault for finishing as the 8th seed. That necessitated the hard fought 7-game series against the best team in the NHL.
With Cole it’s not his fault the retirement age at CBC is 104, Ron it’s just willing ignornance and laziness from being the babysitter for a bitter xenophobic crank who never got over a penalty call in 1979.
Beautiful day in N.S., kids and dog running around, wife doing chores. Kids want to play, wife wants help with chores dog needs a walk…….TERRIBLE day for a (an important) game >:(

Never fails to amaze me in a country that gets so bent out of shape over patriotism and percieved lack of it, they’ll let anyone sing the anthem regardless of the fact they’d have a hard time getting on American Idol outside of “Best of the Worst”.
… I hope when i get to Mr.Boone’s age, with a little bit of luck mind you, the world would have discovered a medication to prevent the hate era, i hate that guy, i hate this and i can’t stand b.s.. ……………. Then again there is weed that helps eliminate some of that in your advanced years.
I wonder if concussions can affect epileptics differently? In my opinion, Ak46 has not been the same man since his concussion. His passing seems less accurate. Some shots seem ill advised. Sometimes he looks like… what’s the word… uncomfortable, unaware…
Did de suck when SK was in Hamilton? Pretty much.
i think Andrei excels when he is within his comfort level. Loose. offensive.
My gut tells me that having SK in the lineup might be a big spark.
Better yet, AK, SK and Metro could be a magical fourth line.
mike, i for one and dlighted about game time as 2 f p.m. for you, is 8 p.m. for me in Italy! Seriously though would have gladly sacrificed another sleepless night for Habs.
mike, i for one and dlighted about game time as 2 f p.m. for you, is 8 p.m. for me in Italy! Seriously though would have gladly sacrificed another sleepless night for Habs.
Ahahaha, I feel the exact same way! Afternoon games, especially on sundays, are great for us Europeans. All those sleepless nights are starting to take their toll on me!
Doesn’t the fit seem right: Ken Hitchcock and the New Jersey Devils. Discipline meets discipline.
And I couldn’t help but wonder that if Bob Gainey was still general manager of the Canadiens, would Carey Price have been forced ahead of Halak?
Something is wrong in Denmark or San Jose when Miro Satan has more playoff goals this season than the combination of Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley
Leaf talk about Cammalleri
In the non-ending debate regarding the Leafs’ acquisition of Phil Kessel, the discussion lately has centred on whether Toronto should have signed free-agent Mike Cammalleri last summer.
This makes for wonderful talk-radio fodder, even if it is entirely meaningless.
The Leafs, in truth, made a reasonable pitch to sign Cammalleri. He turned it down in favour of a similar deal with Montreal.
And while it’s certain the Leafs would have been better off signing a game-breaker as a free agent rather than trading so much future away for one, the discussion is moot.
So the far official calls it, but not the official closest to the play? That makes no sense.
These announcers become cheerleaders is beyond annoying and unprofessional — the worst is the announcers who say “whoo!” after a goal. Or the Philly announcer who goes, “PICO POWERPLAY!”
There should be some regulation on that — keep some dignity in the game.
Nice play from the defense clearing the rebound. some of these guys aren’t getting the respect they deserve in protecting Halak by clearing any rebounds.
With all the modern broadcasting technology, you think CBC would be able to hold the video feed 5 seconds back to keep it even with Cole’s play-by-play.
Yup all the greatest WINNERS in hockey do it. It’s called being a competitor. Those of you who’s only challenge in life is moving from the couch to the fridge and back, have zero clue.
You have to believe by now that there will be some well placed penalties illegit as hell sprinkled around the 3rd with at least one in the last minute to ensure the outcome.
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
RDS also said that the organization is keeping the media away from PK, in order to impede another “Gui Lats” phenomena, where he becomes the Habs nation’s favorite and gets pressure, and eventually f”ks it up..
I believe I read somewhere that the Leafs offer to Cammalleri was only $4.5 million. Big difference in dollars when it comes down to it, even with the higher tax bracket in QC.
HIGHLIGHT REEL; CINDY BUTTMAN’S MELTDOWN, this is your posterchild, breaks stick, throws stick, yapps his way into a new commercial or photo shoot. $$$$$$$$$$$….. DISGUSTING…………on the positive side were in this yappers head
PK is flawless out there..great decisions with the puck!
Can’t wait until the cheap Subban jerseys start showing up on e-bay so I can buys one…then I will trade it in for a quality way over priced official one…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
I just can’t believe how much time is spent in the MTL. zone. It’s really just incredible that they lead this game. Fleury has like 5 shots in the past 35 mins.
Cammi is the first Hab in 17 years to get more than seven goals in the playoffs. The last guys to do it were Vincent Damphousse, Kirk Muller and Paul DiPietro in 1993!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
I LOVE THIS TEAM! Great character win for the Habs despite no Markov. Terrific PK effort on 3 consecutive penalties in the third. Solid performance from Halak again. Huge momentum shift for our return to the Bell Centre. OLE OLE OLE!!!!
I am astounded at how well these guys have come together, insopite of losing Markov,The Habs this year could have folded or used any number of reasons not to rise to the occasion, Congrats to there will to win & play like thet are in it to win it….Go Habs Go ,……regardless of what happens now, their play now has completely washed away any negativity many of us thought about them over the course of this season…Mea Culpa… Go Habs Go
Couldn’t believe no D-men were picked for a star, but this team does play like a team now,so they all deserved mention. If you have to pick then hard to beat Halak , Cammy and pick anyone in a Habs uniform.
I sure wish the refs wouldn’t seem to be so obviously biased in assesing penalty’s ,but like in Washington the Habs prevailed inspite of the Zebras calls
There will be no further suprises folks. We’ll win because we’re better. Plain and simple. Better coaching, better character, better heart, better discipline, better goaltending, better PK, need I go on?
Bob built this team around his own style. Quiet confidence. No over the top celebration yet. Notice how Cammy reacts on the nail in the coffin goal? Listen to Gionta in the NBC interview? The first win in Washington was a surprise. The loss in game 2 was a bigger surprise. Jaro, Gionta, Cammy, Gorges… they lead by example. They never quit, and it’s contagious. Pleks gets it, he’s one of the few europeans with heart. The K brothers are all about the K brothers. They will be gone. Well done Mr Gainey. I like our chances very much to go all the way sir! I for one, am not surprised. Use the usual route
I’d like to see Jaro in the top-5 for GAA, but being in a 5-way tie for the lead in wins is nothing to sneeze at. They have to cut down on the shots against.
And how about Cammy? The dude has been lights-out! Without his scoring… well… nevermind being down 0-2 to Pittsburgh, without him we wouldn’t have gotten by Washington!

Andrei Kostitsyn’s career stats show that he’s hottest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. If he can show up, the Habs have this one in the bag. The guy can change a game if he wants to. Shades of Ovechkin, but too inconsistent and lazy.
Why Crosby should be suspended for the rest of the playoffs. That was a absolutely dangerous plays slashing his stick on our goaltended post and can anyone prove that wasn’t meant for Halak. That was no accident he swung his stick in a reckless fashion that could have really hurt our goalie. Then he carried his broken stick and then he threw it, are you kidding me. If that was Laps that did that he be gone for the playoffs and his picture would go up in the post office.
What I liked about Crosby today was his complaining to the refs, his total lack of leadership he showed to his team, him completely losing it, and him ending up as a -2 in the game.
I predict the second great character assassination via the Habs in this great post season: #87.
As I said before this series started that I know Crosby father from work and their Egos are so big if you get Crosby going he can hurt his team. Crosby smashing his stick is a sign of weakness.
So, in order to make Halak play awesome, just hang him out to dry for a bit. I’ve never seen a goalie excel so easily with those close in shots in scrums.
Is this a playoff game?? OMG….these so called fans in Pitt are just brutal! Talk about lack of energy or enthusiasim. Can’t say that about the fans in Washington.
One of these days I’m going to have to head downtown and check that place out.

Elliotte Friedman reports that Halak’s in for today’s game, and apparently, Tim Peel will be one of the referees today.
Love that place.

December 4, 2009 – Elmer Lach’s jersey took its rightful place with the Rocket’s in the rafters.
this is how scheduling works in the NHL.
NBC: You are playing at 2 pm
Bettman: thank you, thank you, thank you, gracious NBC for giving us some of your time
NBC: *spits on floor near bettman*

The Pens are the prime tenants, so they probably have a reservation clause in their contract. And touring bands will often put up a deposit fee to reserve a night at an arena when tentatively planning out a tour.

For a little respite from the fear and the anguish,
check out this little montage I put together of the last
2 games of the Caps series with a remix of Go Habs Go.
http://www.youtube.com/user/ahengnbo
As for this series, what struck me the most about game 1
wasn’t the awesomeness of the Pens as much as the fatigue
of the Habs. I think we can take this team if we can catch a
second wind. That being said, MAB taking a regular shift as a
defenceman scares the living crap out of me….
Man, I sure hope that they boys got to bed early last night, instead of heading out to sample that world-class Pittsburgh nightlife.

It’s a domino effect.
well i already know habs don’t do very well in afternoon games , anyone know what pitt’s like? i think the kittens got into Boone’s medicaton.
You and me both!

Red Deer Ronnie doesn’t merit the respect to have his correct name used. He finds it funny that Charra mangles names, so as a result, I won’t bother calling him by his correct name either.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey
Mcdonough is really nothing special. not yet, anyway.
there are dozens of d-men like him in the AHL who never get a cup of coffee in the NHL.
when he played for the U.S. juniors, he was their 5th best d-man, on a team of 19 year olds.
Thimmens philosophy of drafting US high school defenceman is questionable at best.
That hit.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Yeah, I prefer the NBC feed to the CBC, myself.
I could watch that all night!
Did you really expect the NHL not to schedule the game during the afternoon when it falls on a Sunday? Dude, it happens throughout the season.
Go Boys Go!
That has nothing to do with playing an afternoon game today.
Can we loan Evander Kane from Atlanta for this series? For all the Matt Cooke haters out theres, and who am I kidding, we’re all Matt Cooke haters, here’s the video of Kane’s KO against Cooke. No wonder the kid was named after Holyfield.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW9Sp-WndwA
It would be EPIC if they couldn’t sign him and the habs jumped on him.
Interesting:

Habs hockey = Smart hockey
5 man defence will be the key to our victory
Any forward not ready to play defence should not play.
there is a reason why I believe in the statement I include with all of my posts.
today, Smart Hockey is the key to our success.
we will not win unless we play smarter than the competition.
on paper it does not add up.
thankfully the game is played on ice and not on paper.
I agree. I just wish that Charra’s side kick Rod McLong would actually take some time to correct the old fart once in a while. Instead McLong sits there like a grinning idiot.
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but there really is no conspiracy. The Mellon Areana was booked on Saturday anyways.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Don Charra is never wrong. Accept it.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Hard to believe that loaf POS healy said that, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. He’s still on my (expletive deleted) list though, since i puke in my mouth every time he speaks.

how far can the boys dig down with our depth..iam always hopeful but something tells me it may not be for long.
ps…i wish i was in charge of HNIC.i would do anything in my power to fire all of those monkeys out the door so fast it would make there heads spin. cherry continues to be such an embarrasment he can’t even pronounce Halaks name right..what a farce and they call themselves professional….sad, sad.
NBC = New Bettman Conspiracy
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
If MAB plays more than 5 mins then the habs lose. Case closed. I really don’t care if they have to double shift the rest of them I don’t want to see MAB play against the Pens. It’s that simple.
“So a tired hockey team takes the ice without its best player…”
Why – is Halak out?

“My face is my mask,” Gump Worsley
Thanks Howard!!
http://www.youtube.com/user/ahengnbo
Ian, Another guy, who like Chris F. Lee, I’m ashamed to say, hails from New Brunswick.
A second wind will have to come on the plane, there is no time for rest, the Habs play every second day from now on.
I hate to sound like a broken record but the time for rest was in game #1. We were destined to lose that game and the guys sitting out could have given a couple of key players a rest.
NBC is ruining playoff hockey!

Great work Chris! Love the remix! Go Habs Go!!!

Pittsburgh is too physical – we are folding up.
Oh, you get told you’re out to lunch often? Not a suprise. Last guy I would blame on a 1 vs Goalie play would be the keeper. Shooter gets to skate across the front of the net and has all the advantages.
Pittsburgh has had 6 scoring chances against Halak in this series, scored on all 6. Insane.

Pittsburgh coverage is great….Habs can’t make that crucial second pass
OMG, there HEARTS are out of it, no jump, nothing, i know its early, but you usually dotn recover mentally if your not there to start.
The only thing I was afraid was them giving up mentally after the loss to Markov!
Which 1000 percent proves my point MARKOV is the Captain, without him, this team is a shadow of itself!
Simple a stubborn coach who can’t look beyond petty differences for the betterment of the team!

When will you guys figure out that SK doesn’t have the work ethic to make this squad? He proves it again and again. We won against Wash without him. Clearly the coaching staff is not willing to risk putting him out there anymore. He’ll have to change their minds in practice or wait till next year.
NBC showed AK loafing on Cookes goal, I Am efin sick of HIM
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
i think pittsburgh is just too good
This is over in 4 games. At least Boston would’ve put up some sort of a fight against the Pens. This is basically just giving them a bye to the conference final. With this coaching and lack of effort they’d be lucky to even score.
How anti-clamactic after such a thrilling series against Washington.
Saved by the refs. Gotta make this one count.
I swear Bob Cole is NOT watching this game…..I think he has someone telling him what to say….
JM quotes Ron Burgundy after watching Maxwell’s turnover: I IMMEDIATELY regret this decision!
AK and SK need to go. Extremely poor work ethic on both these guys. If I was their teammate and saw that kind of lack of effort, I’d want them gone as well.
That was a dangerous hit from Dupuis on cammy.
Good sequence
Its SUCH a beautiful day outside, why are we inside watching this garbage?

Wow, cmon Habs get it going.
Everyone on that line was atrocious on that goal, and so was Halak.
not a good feeling today. pens so balanced will take advantage of the unforced errors all over the ice….could be scarey. missing markov and spacek big time.
Mab yikes and AK…what can you do.
is your avatar from blades of steel?
decent PP. first signs of organization
We have a few problems.
I don’t think any of our bottom 6 forwards would make the Pens starting lineup.
With Hamr playing poorly and Spacek and Markov out we have two legit NHL defencemen: Gorges and Gill.
The bright spot is the Pens will be rested to take out the Bruins or Flyers.
MAB needs to get that shot up higher…like at the level of Cooke’s face.
MAB played about 2 and a half minutes in a row there… what was he doing halfway through the PP, he was skating with Talbot and then just let him go. thankfully talbot bobbled the puck but come on bergeron, use your damn head.
Bien sur.
Rofl.
Boy are you one obvious fanboi. Do you ever say anything thats based in reality?

I wish it’d ding off the post and go straight for JM’s face so that Muller could coach the team.

I have not hated a player as much as I hate Bergeron since Jim Dowd played for us in 2003.
everyone standing still. not movement.
Fleury doesn’t even need to do anything…cmon Habs!
Yup – and NBC calls it “character” and “leadership”.
What’s that, 2 shifts for the game? I don’t blame JM though, he tries them once and Pitt. scores their only goal. This game better not go to OT. How much fatigue can this team take?
Cmon Habs – just 20 more minutes until Penguins lose their home advantage. GO HABS GO!!
Probably the best player in the league, doesn’t mean you can’t hate him for his whining.
Who doesn’t Crosby get an unsportsmanlike penalty for breaking his stick over the post and throwing it in the corner. It scared the crap out of Halak.
CBC provides evidence of Crosby’s being the whiner that he is but don’t as far as saying so. “Anyone else would have been called for unsportmanlike conduct” in the stick throwing incident.
Good to see the guy we drafted ahead of Lucic having such a big impact on the game.
NHL.com doesn’t even have Darche listed on the scoresheet.
When it comes to the playoffs, don’t bet on the Russians, no matter how good they are.
Metro isn’t fully recovered form his injury, is what I have heard.
They have Tim Peel and Chris Lee reffing the second round of the playoffs, what does that say about their intelligence?
he has inner ear infection/vertigo.
Andrew, I don’t think that is going to happen though unless all 3 sit together in the pressbox. Its hard to know whats up AK46′s rump but he is not plying well at all.
Sure looked like that was the case.
AK let his man go through on goal in the 1st.
That is the explanation.
Not even close and it’s evident from just watching any of his shifts before he was benched.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Where did you hear this, or is this a joke?
You’re right that they haven’t given him reason to put them on, but putting them on with the bottom D pairing was JM’s fault, as was playing Maxwell at all.
If JM is going to punish the Kostitsyns with 4th line time, I’d like to see the Kostitsyns around Metropolit on the 4th next game.
I agree. That was a terrible grandstanding type of call on a great play.
It’s a message. Thos K-bros just aren’t playing playoff hockey. So many lazy defensive mistakes, no intensity, stupid plays that lead to goals. JM is saying, no matter who you are, you don’t play team hockey, you’re gone.
Hard to play well with one shift.
Okay, let’s win the next period, and we’ll win the game. Kill off the penalty then get a quick one. Let’s play to win, don’t play not to lose.
Hey Milbury, were not tied at one, even though you wish we were
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
18-3 shot advantage for Pitts. that period. it almost makes you laugh, Montreal’s style. Chip puck out, clog up middle of ice, let Halak steal game. Massive PK coming up.
4th line didn’t get a single shift in the second period…
I’m all for sitting Metro, but SK has to be in this game instead of Maxwell or Darsch. Bad coaches decision, IMO. We are getting dominated badly.

Once again I can’t believe people on this site would rather Price have started…..it’s such a bizare thing too say at this point and time…..This is the Jaro Halak decade, here now and a lot more too come …La pieace du resistance,Creme de la creme and our best player by miles ……
Jaro. Zoned again.
All about the ref reffing the score, I hate this type of refereeing
I didn’t see a penalty there. Nice play by Gill.
Wow, very well said
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Is it just me but everytime the camera closes up on Crosby it looks like he’s bitching and whining. Jesus christ.
Crosby getting frustrated by Habs D and P.K. chirping Malkin. Keep it up boys! ___________________________________________
Ya! The Habs Rule! now on Twitter!
The JM “rope a dope” system, again!
You allow yourself to get pummeled for 19 minutes of a period and land one good shot!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
PK is really even better than I thought. I am super impressed with his poise and defensive play. We have been looking for a 2nd elite Dman to go with Markov for so long. Well here he is.
Crosby is getting frustrated and NBC isn’t mentioning. Slamming a stick into Jaro’s post – that’s a bantam reaction. Stay on him.
every single tiem without fail..
he is one of the biggest whiners in the league..
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Spacek better be ready for game 3.
SK must have shown JM a whole lot of disrespect to still be in the doghouse. I wonder what happened? They sure are keeping it quiet. And what is wrong with Spacek?? That must be some kind of virus!!
Nope, it’s not just you. He’s always bitching and whining. Pisses me off, and I don’t care if he’s the Captain.
Mike! are you being sarcastic? Good penalty? Did gill just bump him in the crease?
Not a NHL 4th line and we’re in the playoffs, what can we expect? White should be here at the least, Sergei should be out there as well. Can’t have passengers in a long playoff drive but that’s where we are right now.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I’d like to see the Kostitsyns around Metropolit next game on the 4th line. At least that way maybe we could get some chemistry going.
Brian Gionta, IN SKATES, looks up to Pierre McGuire on NBC
Pretty sure that was a tactical dive whose effect was achieved.
sutter is a really poopy GM. he was a lot better coach!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Gotta say, I didn’t like the idea of calling up PK at first but he’s been pretty damn good. Well done PK.
Martin has to do something with that second line, they don’t seem to be gelling at all.

No question there will be changes. As Doug points out the CAP will dictate what we can do.
Yup, I was soooo impressed with his comeback. What a rebound: this guy’s the shit.
Crap, now I cant change my Drawers,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
That’s what I was hoping for. If so, he sold it pretty good. Although he did look rattled on the bench and the side of his face was all red.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Halak – History Will be Made.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
1) Matt Cooke
2) Craig Adams
3) Sidney Crosby
4) MAF – jeered “FLEEEUUU-REEEEEEEE” “FLEEEUUU-REEEEEEEE”
Rant over!
Cammy is up to 8 goals in 9 games.
What a warrior.
Must be raining where you are… otherwise I’d expect a Leaf fan to be golfing.

I’m sure I saw Metro hit someone in Game 1 and skated away favoring his shoulder. He is definitely hurt, but hopefully he’ll be ready back home.
What are you doing in DC?
Mike “The Situation” Cammalleri is now second in playoff scoring with 13 points and first in goals with 8. Not too mention the fact that the next two games are in Montreal, and he tends to step it up big time at home. This should be good.
Ha ha, little G is awesome.
Not to mention we didn’t have Markov for this game. This team just continues to baffle me, but in a good way.
At least we have a well rested AK. Wont even have to shower after his 1:43 of play today. Still managed to be a -1
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Craig Adams, 1A
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I flipped between CBC and NBC for the first period, and just couldn’t listen to Bob Cole and Gary Galley any longer. I watched NBC for the 2nd and 3rd.
holy cow. i’m stunned right now. tied 1-1 with the stanley cup champs. stole home ice from sid the kid.
go habs go!
If we can get a 4th line going, Benny and Tomas Jagr going, we’ll be even better.
I doubt we will be seeing Craig Adams for at least one game.
Crosby can’t get unsportsmanlike conduct calls, NHL unprinted rulebook.

So…maybe Gainey knew what he was doing last summer??
You threw it down. Where u at mofo? Let’s see how brave you are!
I wouldn’t go that far just yet, but he is doing really well out there.
Many of us must’ve wondered what team we were watching today. I kept thinking NJ Devils hockey.
Hats of to all the team for this one, but lets not forget that the coaching staff has done wonders here. 3 cheers for the great preparation given before games. Ole Ole Ole
Why the Martyrdom? I live in NC as well. Watched RDS here:

Enjoyed sticking it to my girlfriend’s diehard Penguins fan father and grandfather.
L’équipe de Martin et Gainey.
Habs 4 Lyfe
TOI:
46 A. Kostitsyn 00:54
61 B. Maxwell 01:03
Canadiens AT Penguins Boxscore
I am wondering when I am going to wake up.
Yup, it’s all gravy for now./
Advantage JM
..short shifts, short bench, adjust on the PK, no panic.
..against our advice, no Price , no SK, MAB strong on D.
PK huge, Cammy huge
Habs the best team with the score 2-1 and the top scorer pissed ( he crys like a B)
Love it. Good thing I’m not coach. Whoooohoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful WIN on my 26th B-Day!!!!!!!! >Yeaaaa Boys !!!!!! Thanks for making my day!!!
We can play those guys even without Marky.!! Is he officially officially out
– YES HABS CAN!! –
….Hab4life….
HA! “Don’t worry, you’ll get paid anyway!”. Love it.
Gravy’s good. But I want potatoes, peas, the meat & the plate. Most of all I want the Cup!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

What guts. What determination. What a team!
CBC says that Spatch has an inner ear problem. Probable can’t walk let alone skate.
habs4cup where are ya buddy.. come out and play
what a great character win for the guys.
what a snipe by cammy.
what good dfensive play by pleks
the d was beyond heroic today.. unfreakin real.
the penguins are so effin dirty its not even funny

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Ha ha…I thought I told you about that!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
All the experts said that the Penguins would be more patient and pick corners on Halak, looks like that isn’t gonna happen.
i eat my words. said earlier pens would come out stronger than 1st game. an excellent character win..lots of guts. kudo’s to undermanned D..hardly any 2nd and 3rd shots…halal playing back to form..love it.
need spacek back soon.
Wow, another H I/O overload.
I think the servers would melt down if we had a Cup Final.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Still think the Habs don’t have a chance this season? Still doubt that a hot Halak can carry a team a long ways?
Just wondering , dude.
That was a very challenging game for a coach. I grudgingly give a thankful nod to JM.
yes signing for 7.3 mil, and not scoring more than 12 goals was a brilliant move. maybe Gomer will do us a favor and score 13 next year. yipee.
Can you have you 27th on tuesday?
He said a star…

Server money is putting a new tranny in Hickey’s Honda so the HIO staf can get to away games…It’s the HIO staff private jet apparently…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
PK Subban — Wow! Maxwell and AK46 should sit next game. But who plays?
Reading many of these posts I can’t contain my laughter on how many Price idols are now jumping the bandwagoan and supporting Halak.
The guy has been a winner in my books since is days in Hamilton.
2 individuals stand out for me in these playoffs so far.
The play of Jarsoslav Halak (no surprise to me!) and Jacques Martin’s c coaching decisions (sorry Bobby, this is Jacques’ team not yours!)
We will only go far as far as Halak takes us, not Cammy, not Gionta, not Plekanec, not nobody just Halak.
Goaltending takes you very far in the playoffs.
Gald that Martin is sitting little Sergei and benching Andre, 2 little pansies in my books.
Halak is the MVP in the playoffs, whether the team goes very deep in the playoffs or are eliminated by the Penguins.
He has woken many people’s eyes.
Sign him Pierre Gauthier to a fat contract, he is our number 1 goalie for many years!
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
Wow Fantastic game by all…
Kostitsyn played 1:43. You’re looking at ES ice time only.
Hmmmm…funny how Gomez singled out Muller for praise on making adjustments to the PK and no mention of JM. Just saying. I noticed after game seven Muller was again mentioned by several players and not JM.
He did play him and he made a dumb mistake on the first goal. Then he got stapled. He made a similar bonehead play last game.
Great game, I thought Halak would still be a little tired. If he keeps playing like this, he gets my nod for the Conn Smythe.
I don’t get why Maxwell was in at all. Hardly noticed him, did he play in the third?
Habs in 6.
I think JM sat him for the game after his lack of effort that led to Pens goal. Don’t think is was part of the game plan.
Go Habs Go!!! These guys are blowing me away…
Martin is looking smarter and smarter. Of course it helps to have
Captain Kirk back there as well.

P.K. Subban’s interview with Pierre McGuire after the game.
Man, even during an interview, it seems like he’s been doing it for years.
http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=15&id=68268
He actually gets them frequently compared to most players.
This team has heart. And the spark behind this team is coming from two outstanding young players — Jaroslav Halak and PK Subban.
Halak is 24 years old and is playing like a seasonned veteran. PK is only 20 and is playing like Bobby Orr or maybe Doug Harvey.
But they both have one thing in common. Both PK’s and Jaro’s birthdays fall on May 13th.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they celebrated their birthdays together while advancing into the third round?
I think they can. I know they can…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
OMG, wouldn’t it be great? One more round boys, one more round.
Gotta give credit to Kirk Muller for making adjustments on the offense. He’s reallly enjoying the playoffs.
I think Martin shortening his bench sent a good message to Kostitsyn.

Ya! The Habs Rule! now on Twitter!
I’ll man up. Thought maybe Price should’ve started today. I was very wrong.
Imagine the reception Jaro is getting at the Bell at the beginning of Game 3!
Great interview and BTW how many Habs singing OLE OLE in the background. Beer sales must have been brisk.
Fearless prediction: Vancouver-Habs final!
We have more heart than any other team left.
I noticed that too, Muller seems way more involved with the players.
JM gets credit for going back to Halak
Didn’t get to see the game (playing rugby). Were Crosby & Malkin as missing as the box score indicates? Combined minus 3 and 4 shots between them?
nice
Hope you don’t mean me Mikey…. can’t recall being strongly in either camp, though I’ll stand to be corrected. Cheers.
Had it on the vcr also but warned household if Basement t.v. touched everyone dies. Got to watch the game.
Maybe, he means he “played” 1:03, but was on the ice for 1:43. He floated for :40.
I’d love to see the Habs play against the Bruins in ECF. Wouldn’t be the playoffs without going against them.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey
we work as a team, and we win as a team.
we play 5 man defence – not just 2.
we play with energy
we play with Subban in Markov’s place – (could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that, at least he’s here now)
Halak makes all the saves
The PK today was incredible. Complete 180 from the 1st game.
Jim-out. I WILL ALWAYS AND NEVER STOPPED TO BELIEVE!
cbc.ca may have it.
Saw 87 on HNIC. What’s with the penguin crap all over his hat??? This team is peaking at the right time. Only problem is they have to peak for 3 more rounds.
Go Habs
Saw 87 on HNIC. What’s with the penguin crap all over his hat??? This team is peaking at the right time. Only problem is they have to peak for 3 more rounds.
Go Habs
Mistakes happen and JM has to get over it unless every move he makes is perfect.
man, Malkin has been a GHOST this series…knock on wood
If the Habs make the finals, Halak will undoubtedly win the Conn Smythe. There’s no chance anyone else would win.
That’s what I was thinking yesterday too but if you watch the video of him at practice he is very slow, and usually away from the team. Someone posted what he had on here and it sounds like its a very lingering problem, could plague him for a while.
This team keeps surprising me pleasantly. It’s great not to have any expectations when they’ve overachieved already. What a team.
Best of all, the biggest part of his “celebration” is pointing to the guy who passed him the puck. Acts like he’s done it before and expects to do it again soon.
Thanks, but knowing the result, albeit a good one, takes the fun out of it.
So what was with Crosby and the slash on Halak’s net?
Great goaltending can take you a long way. Look at Ward in 2003. When was the last time a team won it all, when the goalie wasn’t at least considered for the Conn Smythe trophy?
well then… it was your fault.
Great team effort, with special kudos going out to Cammy and Jaro.
Gotta love the “Split in Pitt” (TM)

That was a dirty frigging hit. And that non call on Crosby was disgraceful.
The sweet bit is that the Pens are totally frustrated. And I’m sorry, but
Crosby is STILL a whiner.
http://www.youtube.com/user/ahengnbo
He felt he was interfered with. Little whiner!
Listening to that, all I can say is that PK is Captain material.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
That and the no call on Letang/Dupuis for hooking. Clearly a missed call.

Ya! The Habs Rule! now on Twitter!
I predicted that Boone’s opening linewould be “No Markov? No problem.”
Justsayign!
Last year, and the year before.
Exactly. We’ve had so many underachieving teams, it’s kinda weird to
have a team that gives more than you think they can give.

Planning on marketing some T-shirts with that slogan Chuck?
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
It’s called the Subban Virus!
CAAAAAAAAAMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
WE WON WE WON!
i made that prediction, too! and that would be awesome… vancouver’s a (distant) second for me
I agree. Bad fans. No booing of Gill or Halak. They don’t quite get the seventh man thing and they call themselves fans.
fu*k ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IN THE FACE!
INNNNNNNNNNNN YOUR FACE
Oh snap! No you didn”t…

Pleks makes that goal.
OMG!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE CAN!!! CAMMMIII

CAMMI!!!!
I noticed that too. This kid is a revelation.
And re: Captain material…He grew up a Habs fan. Enough said? When’s the last time we had a star who WANTED to be a Hab?
SK8 Fast, Play Hard!
Anything look familiar?
You mean 5’10″ Brule? That’s not power forward size by the least and he’s reading like a serious Top 10 bust on his stats so far. Cogliano’s got 18 goals because of his speed and that is it, he has no finish in him. We don’t need Oilers to get ahead, honestly.
You want to poach for a power forward? Kyle Beach from the WHL, CHI has his draft rights. 52G this season in the WHL, 6’3″ winger and is considered a potential Top-3 player on an NHL team.

is spite of you Buttman,, CAMI, love it, Pitts will emplode
Fuck you Bettman!
Leading goal scorer in the playoffs Micheal F. Cammellari!!!
It so hard for some people to get the fact that Gainey didn’t sign Gomez for 7.3 million per year.
And Gomer has been great in the playoffs. What are you watching?
WOW what a Clutch player cammy leads the league in goals!!!
Dishonorable PUKES!!!!!!
Down 3-1, last five minutes of the game. That’s intentional. Throw him out, 5 min major, suspension too.
Not even close.
I don’t care if it was Bergeron who got it – that is a dirty hit!!
Classless Penguins.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FK YEAH!!!!!!
HELL of a ******* goal
wow f’in dirty
What is this garbage?!
He should be suspended.
Oh my God!!!
Unreal.
what a pathetic cheap shot on MAB. Leagues gotta review that one
“Halak is going to be the best goalie in the world for a long time”
A bold claim…I hope you’re right!
Dangerous play by a scumbag coward! Suspension worthy for sure!
Suspension!!!
That’s a game misconduct. Suspend Adams.
Oh and thanks for the goonery Pitts.
Cammy has hands like butter.
NO CLASS. F PITT! FIRST COOKE, NOW THIS!
Can you say suspension?

Adams taking a page from Cooke…Pens fans are @ssholes booing MAB…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Garbage hit.
Habs can’t afford to lose him.
I love how Cammy acts when he scores , he just kind of skates away. He not going to act stupid because he knows he’ll be back to score again.
“Adams, a terrific character player” AFTER the hit…STFU NBC. Seriously.
Going home!!! Its going to be INSANE at the Bell Centre – MAB is allright
Please post this before every game.
Way to take one for the team, MAB!
Jaro started today and rightfully so. BUT, Price should have started Game#1. We would have had a better chance!
That had better be a suspension.
2. Playoffs games seem to be worth more…
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.
Dirty hit, PP rest of the game and game misconduct, plus Bergy looks ok. back to mtl tied 1-1… sick
He sure knew what he was doing regarding Halak/Price. Genius decisions. Holmgren must want to shoot himself now.
That better be a suspension regardless if mab is injured
Man alot of crying and hand wringing on here today. You guys are pathetic.
you gotta love this kid Subban, finally getting great ice time 22 mins
Gill on the PP, love it
i love this team. there has not been a team in montreal with this much character in a long time. do you pay a guy for his regular season contributions or what he does now? gomez has been outstanding, he is used in virtually every situation in a game. nobody is complaining about his salary now. just remember this next november. imagine if pleks can get going, we would be lights out.
We win
I’m expecting NHL discipline on that hit.
Final minute of a 3-1 game, on the PP, and Martin doesn’t use AK46. That tells you a lot.
Letang, you got owned by Moen
You gotta say it like, “Cammy has hands like… buttaaaaaaaaa……aaaaa….”
WooooHooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hal Gill on the Power Play!
Now I’ve seen everything.
YES! SERIES TIED!
JM says that Metro was a healthy scratch because he wanted more SPEED in the lineup. Darche, Maxwell and AK had a COMBINED 3:40 in the game. WHAT JM?????????
Here’s my comment the day:
FU Pens.
I know, I know, not my usual restraint. But these dorks need to be schooled in the art of hurt. I say we hurt them physically in Montreal this week.
Then find another site to comment on and read, I think most people are tired of your superiority complex anyway.
Hey Crosby your coming to the jungle baby Tuedays night.
Its a series Boys, like we even doubted
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
1st Star: Halak
2nd Star: Cammy
3rd Star: Gomez 2 passes!
Cammy is a stud.

VICTORY!!
Sorry, still way overpaid dude. If he is worth 7.4 Million in this years playoffs then what is Halak worth going by your definition.
What a win! 1 of 2 is PERFECT! Get rest boys….you’ve got a boatload of support!
Don’t let the door hit you
I said the same thing , a true professional,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
sure, you sound like kelly hrudey. reward the guy who got you to the next round by sitting him. come on. if that was done and price laid an egg, martin would be shot.. some people criticize everything martin does..
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Halak should not have been pulled for game four in the Caps series, we would have won in SIX.
Great job by Halak. Solid, solid performance.
Honestly, people mess up. Its over, let’s move on. Aside from that mindset he had what else did he do wrong to deserve the crap people give him?
GO HABS GO! We stole home ice, and have the momentum going back to Montreal.
Importantly, Halak is back on his game. Hammer also had a strong showing. PK is stepping up big time.
Question becomes what to do with the 4th line — we need all 4 lines running.
nice , just went to nhl.com and there’s Cammy’s face leaing goals and Halak’s for wins soon for sv% as well!!
Oh BABY!!!!!!
We’re running out of D-men!

Cammalleri leads EVERYONE in the playoffs with 8 goals in 9 games!!
OMG….ARE THE PENS IN FOR AN AWAKENING BACK AT THE BELL!!!
I AM GETTING GOOSEBUMPS THINKING ABOUT TUESDAY ALREADY DUDES!!
Martin makes a ton of personnel decisions I would never do. Thank God he’s the coach and I’m on the couch.
PK Subban is money…he will be as good as Markov or better…he plays with the best and matches them…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Thank you Calgary for letting Cammalleri go!

I knew the Habs were tired in Game 1, and you guys think they played crap.
And to think that Markov is the key to winning games, well that is wrong too and they proved it this afternoon.
I’m so glad for the Habs to come home with at least a win out of the two games played in the Diaphragm… err, I mean the Igloo.
They’re gonna have to pay for going after our stars like that.
Where u at Jeff?
Agree !
I think I’ll go ahead and keep calling out the unstable posters such as yourself, thanks for the tip however.
These guys did themselves proud by coming back less than 48hours later to put a fork in the Penguins. So much for Bettman’s strategy.
I hope Canadiens fans and the entire hockey world realize how good and how valuable Josh Gorges is. What a steal he was for Rivet.
NO, THATS YOU MAGUIRE, YOU LOVE CROSBY, NOT PK
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Working all day, glad to see the win and awesome performances by Halak and Cammy. Loving Subban being a major part of that win, look at those solid minutes he ate up!!
Where can I find the game highlights?
Jaro Halak is a robot sent back in time from the future to save the Montreal Canadiens.
0. Same as Hossa, who cheapshotted a guy, but didn’t end up in an injury.
holy crap….we won!

Gutsy effort!!
We’ll need more of those, but I have got to say, it’s awesome to prove those talking heads wrong.
Does anyone know if there is any chance of getting Markov back?
We are the giant killers my friends
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
PK interviewed by Pierre on NBC.
It ain’t the size of the dog in the fight………
It ain’t the size of the dog in the fight………
Cammalleri is just a BEAST in the playoffs and Subban? Wow does he ****ing LOVE being put in a big game situation, you could almost forget at times we were missing Markov.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
On BSN I suppose but
I like the NHL.com replay highlights myself
You know why I love following Mr. Boone’s blog? He has the same pessimism during games that I do: “I smell OT” etc. Keeps me grounded — thanks Mike!
SK8 Fast, Play Hard!
Booney….Keep predicting.
Who’d you take in the Kentucky Derby?
Hamilton also beat Abbotsford 3-1 to tie the series at one a piece.
You don’t spell Cammalleri with two M’s and two L’s… it’s with an S, a T, U, and a D.

You can see the whole game on Canadiens Express tonight on RDS. Around 7 p.m. I think.
solomio
I heard that if the Habs play the ‘nucks for the Cup, Bettman will resign.
Anyone notice how Crosby turned it over 4 separate times on the shift before Cammalleri eventually sniped one? Unreal.
PK Subban looked like a veteran. Much more poised and less of the “wild bull” stuff. Very Impressed.
And, of course, Halak.
I love how Cammy and Gionta are like the anti-Vaclav Prospal during a goal celebration. They almost look bored after scoring one in.
I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Are you going to threaten me with your e-violence? Please do. You’ve already proven you’re a moron with your conspiracy comments, prove it again.
No. Just no.
Lol…Dave…bring that passion…we need it for this series…I got my playoff beard going…Pens are arrogant like the Caps…humility is coming
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Gomez is THE premiere puck mover in the league. The team is built on possession, thus a puck mover was needed…not to mention the experience he brings!
I swear I have the luckiest green T-shirt in the hockey world. 10-1
I missed Crosby breaking his stick on our net. When did that happen? Sounds like Sidney is losing it.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I love when Cammy scores he acts like he’s done it before, a true professional, unlike other Apes we know
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Squid said it ain’t over yet. squid scored 2 and the pens were done. as always go habs glo!!!
December 4, 2009 – Elmer Lach’s jersey took its rightful place with the Rocket’s in the rafters.
Get set for a steady diet of that for the foreseeable future.

MAB took a hard DIRTY hit….hope there’s no concuss…..AHHHH, A CROSBY AND MALKIN SHUTDOWN – LUV IT
They GAVE “ER , and they GOT ‘ER….GO HABS GO
Missed the game – in a big duplicate tournament. Les Boys have a lot of heart. Sounds like Halak was up to his old tricks, too. Hope Markov can somehow get back.
23:17 for PK Subban.
That guy is really going to be something.
Mike Cammalleri. Do you think Bob Gainey is smiling?
Every time the camera is on Sid he’s bitching at the ref or just plain crying out there, what a punk. Awesome hockey player…but a punk all the same
Watching the 3rd period today just seemed like watching the last games of the Washington series all over again. The Penguins threw the kitchen sink at us and still managed to lost. Halak was, yet again, simply amazing, after a lackluster performance in game 1. The guys in front also blocked a lot shots. And their star looked awfully frustrated and it showed in his game.
holly craaaap HAVE WE BECOME THE NJ DEVILS!?!?!
hehe great win
Deal. It *is* my favorite item of clothing.
)
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
However, you are absolutely correct about Max Pac and D’Ags… Hopefully Max Pac is still salvageable because I think D’Ags is a lost cause no matter where he plays from now on
Love to hear the OLE OLE OLE, in the background during McGuire’s interview with Gionta.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Not only did he break the blade off on our net, he then proceeded to throw the shaft over his shoulder. He should have been penalized. Plain and simple. But you know…it was Crosby.
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
I think jm wanted more of a defensive presence out there hey Andrew total time on ice combined for darche and Maxwell 1:58 that says a hell of a lot more don’t you think?
Maybe tattoo the whole jersey on your chest…
The ole cant during Gionta’s interview, priceless!!!
Mat Barnaby on USA Sportscentre, another bafoon. Where do they get these guys. Or Why i should say

Unreal. Habs fans still in the arena are signing OLE, OLE
Yes I think so.
I’d say Christopher Higgins who grew up a Habs fan. But then, things went south for him in a hurry.
I noticed that too. Gionta’s the same with his celebrations, very restrained. Compare with Staal’s mouth-agape pterodactyl scream after his goal last game.
yes.

My Higgins Jersey is undefeated so far in the postseason. It is also winless when i attend games……..
I want to put gionta on it, but its authentic and i dunno where to go to have it changed.

Habs fans chanting Ole, Ole, Ole in the background…NBC taikng about the system mow…the “System” rocks !!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
i would still like to see some changes in the offseason no matter how far we go and i think we know what they should be thats for another time… for now we ride it and hang on and play hard. here’s hoping the bubble does not burst any time soon.
i love all the talking heads..there almost at a loss for words on the success we are having..boggles and frustrates me.
I hadn’t shaved during the playoffs. Today, I woke up, went to the bathroom, took a shower, brushed my teeth, flossed, took out the shaver and made my face as smooth as a baby’s butt.
Took a deep breath and said “No such thing as superstition”.
**NOTE CBC.CA streams all of the Montreal and Vancouver games.**
-Halak it alot because the Price is right-
From me too!
Can’t say I agree with last sentence. All depends on cap stuff. We’ll see.
Gotta go with Mayo on this one. Good call.
I love that to, I imagine that is how Beliveau, Cournoyer and Robinson would act after scoring a huge goal. Compare that to the theatrics of the Great Ape.
Let me know, I have a Authentic Komisarek that I refuse to wear, I would love to have that crap name removed and put Risebrough on it.

Marley’s good, but he casts a pale shadow next to Dennis Brown.
“I respect your opinion, but you’re completely wrong!”
Joe Strummer too.
It’s the Jerry Garcia Band version that does it for me.

And if Malkin’s slapshot doesn’t go in, Crosby’s there for the rebound. *Sigh* I hate the Penguins lol.
Last game was basically as bad as it can get, a tired team with an even more tired goalie facing a well rested, well coached team. Highly doubt Pittsburgh will be able to pick our PK apart again.
No kidding! I’d like to see a little more patience on our special teams today, everything seemed too frantic last game.
That would work!
Hell, I wish we had Holyfield.
My hate for them is building for sure, I’m really hoping Cooke gets injured. Normally I would never hope for a person to get injured, but Cooke deserves it. I wish we had Evander Kane…
Washinton made us play frantic and that’s what the team has become used to. Pittsburgh is more calculated than frantic and it scares me.
Great roundup by the CBC crew between the 1st and 2nd. Pitts first goal was caused because Andrei didn’t even check who he was up against. He can’t tell the difference between Gonchar and Matt Cooke.
Gets fooled and Cooke sneaks in behind alone.
Other than that play, I didn’t even realize he was dressed.
I love how you blame a player who is put in a position he is not used to and is bound to fail in. Why not assess blame on the COACH who put that whole five man unit in a ridiculous situation?
Put players in positions where they can excel and make a positive contribution NOT in positions they are unused to and with a high possibility of failure…. ie MAB, AK, SK and Maxwell.
there’s gio! i was just wondering where he was!
You’ll love the quality of the image, let’s hope the game is as good in quality. go habs go
I’d rather the team got a good rest, but today’s game is great for me.

What a pass by Gomez!!! And great finish and positioning by Gio!!
I couldn’t believe that pass got through Orpik and right on the tape.
They needed that!

Live the Dream,
Matthew-
Cheers to you Matthew! And welcome to Halak-istan!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Now THAT’S dedication! Enjoy the game, Matthew!

Matthew you have my complete admiration for the good work you’re doing. Enjoy the game!

missed most of the last game. looking for redemption now.
Here’s some redemption…
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can
free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
‘Cause none of
them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While
we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it’s just a part of it
We’ve
got to fulfil de book.
Won’t you help to sing
These songs of
freedom?
‘Cause all I ever have
Redemption songs
Redemption
songs
Redemption songs.
Ahhh…now I need to smoke!

Man, where did everybody go.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Hopefully we won’t re-sign Bergeron. Solid PP specialist but the Habs really need to focus on the core of D. Subban will take his spot. I don’t expect Hamrlik to be a Hab next season. He will be traded or either bought out.
Subban, O’Byrne, Markov, Spacek, Gorges, Gill 7th Dman – Weber?
Did anyone find out the ratings for the Pitt/Ottawa series? I bet the TSN/RDS Habs coverage eclipsed their numbers.

Booney, you crack me up!
Boring hockey..wait…..Habs Score!!!!!!!!!
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
agreed,
When MAB first signed here, I was excited to see what he could bring to the PP.
Anyone watching NBC?
McGoo looks like he borrowed his suit from Milbury!
He’s swimming in that sucker!

“Montreal’s not the best at coming back.”
Stench of Failure aka PJ Stock.
Hey PJ. Are you watching the game? It’s 1-1.
What a loser.
We need a 7th defender who can hit, I suspect Montreal will shop for a 7th man in the off-season for about a million.

http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Metro anyone?
Uh… PJ, how did the Habs do at coming back against Washington?

It’s fun to watch CBC ridicule the Habs.
Kelly Hrudey and PJ Stock must share their hair gel.
Hey Kelly. Did you get nice pictures of the 1993 Stanley Cup parade. Loser.
Not best at coming back?
I guess coming back from a 3-1 deficit against the best team in the league is not a good comeback at all?
I felt the same way. What a punk, tries to get a late hit in and then complains when it doesn’t go his way. lol

From the neck up he looks like a skinny chrome-dome, but his body is actually weirdly corpulent. Yes I said corpulent…

Hey Boone, you couldn’t type that fast enough, ” Off the Benny forecheck” It was a nice play though, When he plays tough, he plays good.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
i, like many, have been critical of CBC’s “coverage” of the playoffs, but so far in today’s game they have come up with 2 fantastic moments.
What’s the point in playing Maxwell and Darche if they play one shift a period? Unbelievable.
Comment level is low, but what about page hits? I read this every game, but I don’t comment much. There’s probably others like me.
Completely gutless. I hate that garbage, I hope the refs call him on it.
We were lucky to come out of that period tied at 1. Hope they show more energy in the second. Go Habs!
And they call each other hockey specialists?? pppffff
– YES HABS CAN!! –
They completely wasted a call-up with Maxwell and SK sitting in the press box does nothing for us. You don’t get to the Finals with 3 lines and 4 Defencemen.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Maxwell is not N.H.L. ready and I’m sure could be easly replaced by a Bulldog with upside……
just caught that too..interesting comments from the cbc and from PJ Stock. he actually said something intelligent for once.
YES
Really Random question but i forget the answer and it’s been bugging me….what was the date the Habs won the stanley cup in 1993?

Stock makes a good comment why not play Subban with the 1st/2nd line…seems right to me..let him play his ass off.
Great Thanks!

Aah, that’s nothing Mr. Boone. Look at my lunch! 2 slices of bread with strawberry jam and margarine. Classic.
Yes, this is what happens when my mother hasn’t cooked lunch for me.
I think anytime you can let the regulars get an extra 90 seconds of recoup time on the bench, that is a good thing. I’ll bet they’ll see more time when JM can control the matchups. Right now they are Anaerobic Recovery Assistants, and that’s it.
Unfortunately we have no callups left. I would much rather Trotter, Desharnais or White replacing Maxwell.
i think maxwell is way out of his element. he should just spend his days on the dogs until Boucher coachs the Habs. he just looks lost and we took him right before Lucic.
Funny way of looking at it.
Yes Halak, keep tracking the puck!
Some of the shots were from far and not that dangerous… stats are decieving. I thought that our D is doing a good job at limiting the dangerous shots. Not saying they are playing great.. they are great at pushing the Pens to the outside and force the tough shots…
WHAT? You cannot read? WOW!
We were dominated, and spent the period in our own zone. Back on the heels the whole period. Shots were 18-3 for sh*t sakes! Not sure which game you are watching…?

We’re going to be fine.
Yes. I just checked. 4 this season.2 against the Pens, 1 against Philly and 1 against Washington.
He won the next game every single time.
Against Toronto 5-4 (2 day rest)
Against LA 4-2 (olympics break in between)
Against Washington (3 day rest)
Against Pens (1.5 days rest…hopefully!)

Let’s go HALAK!

Exactly.

you may consider some of his passes risky, but they have not been improper decision yet. Every one has gotten to it’s intended recipient
I’d like a medical opinion.
Thoughts?
P.S. Where’s Plekanek?
No doubt AK46 is not the same since his head injury.

The Leafs tried for Cammalleri.
He’s from Toronto and spends his summers there. I think he said he didn’t want the hassle of also being a Leaf player.
I don’t think anyone can force JM what to play this goalie over that one. Maybe that’s why BG resigned?
What’s ‘tough’ is having to listen to the HNIC announcers. Forget the continual penalty kills.
What a lousy replay! CBC is garbage!
Halak is tracking the puck amazingly tonight…
Can’t tell when people are saying PK – if they mean Penalty Kill or Pernell Karl…
Nice play from the defense clearing the rebound. some of these guys aren’t getting the respect they deserve in protecting Halak by clearing any rebounds.
Couple excellent kills and the Penguins look as frustrated as the Capitals did.
With all the modern broadcasting technology, you think CBC would be able to hold the video feed 5 seconds back to keep it even with Cole’s play-by-play.

Demers is completely correct about the Pittsburgh PP. Malkin and Gonchar create the room for shots up top.
Gonchar fake slapshot, pass and one-timer goal by Malkin. It worked quite a bit against Ottawa.
NBC will not carry the finals if it is Montreal/Vancouver.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Actually, they will but will demand that the games be played at 2 in the morning and Bettman will bend over and agree.
Why do most NHL players, including some of his own teammates, hate Marc Savard??? I didn’t know he had that rep.
They use to call him the RAT in junior!! The whole league including his players in Oshawa. I guess he is a bit of a rat!!
RDS also said that the organization is keeping the media away from PK, in order to impede another “Gui Lats” phenomena, where he becomes the Habs nation’s favorite and gets pressure, and eventually f”ks it up..
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Why doesn’t the NHLPA mandate that a playoff series cannot commence without 2 full days off from the previous series? Screw NBC.
Because they’re too busy pulling their heads out of their rears trying to organize than do anything useful.

I believe I read somewhere that the Leafs offer to Cammalleri was only $4.5 million. Big difference in dollars when it comes down to it, even with the higher tax bracket in QC.
Maybe he’d rather be a winner than a loser
Matt Darche in, I”d be surprised, and horrified if he gets over 3:30 TOI.

Holding/Tackling on Moore?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
THAT’S A PENALTY ON MOORE!!! OMG
What a shift by Moore
WTF was that non call?
OMG – MAB gets holding and the Pitt defender didn’t on Moore!?!?
That’s CRIMINAL!! No F**&^%%$call!!! FU ref!!!
How in the world did the Penguins not get penalized on that hook on Moore?
Inept, incompetent, buffoon refs.
Habs deserve a PP after that Moore play.
Where is the holding call on them, BS
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Ladies and gentlemen, Tim Peel
Don’t blame him on weed!
Frank – I’ll let you know that there is quiet a gap, now to be honest, i didn’t say in years.
That comment I made during the 2nd about the decent reffing this afternoon?
Yeah……scratch that
Another nail-biter! I love the “System!”
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Pouliot now plays with 2 sticks!
Yep
More hooking and holding by the Pen’s but why should they worry. Ref’s won’t call any on them.
JARO BABY!!!! SWEET
Jaro!
We gotta re-sign Moore. Wow. Such…truculence.
–
Thank You Saku.
Massive save, but what else is new
HALAK!
Good kill boys – great work by the PK.
Big props to PK Subban, what a player!
Go System Go!
Halak is awesome again…
PK is flawless out there..great decisions with the puck!
Can’t wait until the cheap Subban jerseys start showing up on e-bay so I can buys one…then I will trade it in for a quality way over priced official one…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Markovian work by Subban again. Can’t believe this is the kid’s 4th playoff game and his 6th NHL game total.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Exactly what I said. !!!
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Go Gelling Go!
call more penalties, more,, bring em,, we kill em, Pitts gets royal scr@wing with their inflated heads
Time out JM!!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Way to go Gorges, take the hit to make the play
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Kudos to Mr. Boucher in bringing Subban up NHL ready.
Good game for Moore.
I just can’t believe how much time is spent in the MTL. zone. It’s really just incredible that they lead this game. Fleury has like 5 shots in the past 35 mins.
Hah! Bingo!
I am having a bout of deja vu…all over again…
Random…Dos Equis commercials are awesome…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
One more shot on Halak and we’re garanteed a win!…
The System is built aroung wearing out the other teams offense in our zone taking shots…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Hamrlik has had his best game of the playoffs.
Great shift, Hammer. Well done. Good to have you back.
WOOOOOO!!!!!! CAMMALLERI!!!!!
Pouliot is playing WAY better this series than last one.
is MABS contract up July 1, 10.
O’Rourke?………..Ahhhh Bob
It’s close at least, another Irish name!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
HALAK! NICEEE!
Great heads up by Pleks to get back and cover
Plekanec has been invisible, not worth over 4 million dollars, but Halak is.
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
Thats the Halak we want!
Can we nail MAB to the bench unless there’s a PP please? His passes in the defensive zone are scary as hell.
Was that Gionta who just put Crosby on his ass during that scramble?

Yep. Aren’t you tired of all these little guys?
I thought it was MAB in the crease on Sid
MAB
That was Bergeron (!)
MAB and O’Byrne are going to be the death of me.
Need some shots, boys
Halak is playing like he did in Washington – very good sign for the Habs.
Let’s go Habs – go get ‘em!
Just wondering what SK could do that was worse than what Darche has done (0:57 -1)
Take Halak OUT, WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOME OF YOU,LOL?
MAB
Yup… great positioning.
MAB makes all his D-partners look bad, regardless who it is.
OB looked a ‘little’ slow on that last sequence
Mike Milbury explaining how AK was asleep on the Cooke goal. I’m scared, when Milbury is right about something
OK, P.K. from the point on the PP.
WOOOOOOO!!!!!!
WOOT!
Cammy!!!!!!!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cammy is CLUTCH!

CAMMALLLERRIIIII!!!!
YES!!
Wow, is Cammy on fire or what?!?
Assist from PK…
That’s a good goal, the trajectory of the puck went up, meaning the stick was below the crossbar
Subban on the point in a word: Magnificent.
Cammy collects the rebound for another one, for a second I thought that was one of Gio’s brilliant mid-air taps.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Good call Punkster.
This building has no energy at all caps fans were so much more into it
Unbelievable! Screams at the Bulldogs game. must be the Habs have scored, ….wait yes, who scored?
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
CAMMII!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! I feel bad for Fleury, but he already got his Cup. It’s our turn to conquer it babyyy!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
I cannot believe these Playoffs – WTF? I love it!!!!!!!!!
7 goals in 9 games, wow
Thanks. I had a feeling ya know?
iam eating my words..were playing better.
Cammalleri tapped a mid-air rebound from a Subban slapshot, brilliant play.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
lol…haha.
Haha!! Nice it was Cammi!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Respect SeriousFan09!
Thank heaven for technology and the wireless technology
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
He got lucky, don’t compliment him or his ego will get as big as JD’s!
That is HARDLY a possibility!
What did he do to get that title?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Think Maxim Lapierre, but one that talks even more crap. Then you’ve got Marc Savard.
Savard also had a reputation of playing for money solely before Boston.
Cammi is the first Hab in 17 years to get more than seven goals in the playoffs. The last guys to do it were Vincent Damphousse, Kirk Muller and Paul DiPietro in 1993!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
Good company to be in I would say.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Replay just confirmed it.
I LOVE THIS TEAM! Great character win for the Habs despite no Markov. Terrific PK effort on 3 consecutive penalties in the third. Solid performance from Halak again. Huge momentum shift for our return to the Bell Centre. OLE OLE OLE!!!!
best in game adjustment: me switching to nbc resulting in a cammaleri goal 7s later.
That too was my best in game adjustment – i did it after the Pens lonely goal.
This Jeff Jimerson guy really sucks.
he’s awful, puts nothing into the canadian anthem, then the american one is weak too so its not just a fluke
Enough with the PP accolades already, drop the Damn puck
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Unbelievable goal by Mike Cammalleri! Wow, he look liked a Brazilian footballer on the goal.
I sure wish the refs wouldn’t seem to be so obviously biased in assesing penalty’s ,but like in Washington the Habs prevailed inspite of the Zebras calls
this is a hilarious versian of oh canada. “oh canada…. blah blah blha blah blahgot through that song in record time
Don’t wanna jinx anything, but the reffing really hasn’t been that bad so far……pretty good flow, letting them play
Conn Smythe Cammy….has a nice ring to it don’tcha think?
….or hey Jaro is just as deserved.
I like it! His goals have been timely, too.

Salad fingers!! One of my all time faves.

The Crosby line is so scary.
Look at the goals and wins section. How can you not be proud of this team?
http://www.nhl.com/ice/statshome.htm#?navid=nav-sts-main
SV% as well…Anderson isnt playing anymore so its basically Jaro.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”

Harani, I like your avatar! How did you get thisclose to Cammi??
cut down on the shots against???
are you nuts…
please keep them coming
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
why don’t Talbot and Fleury just make out and get it over with
Cole…says HABS are mystified…retire will ya.
The Geico cave man thinks Mike Green is a great player, I guess he should go back to his cave and watch the highlights from round 1
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Very impressed at the Habs’ discipline, not taking any bad penalties during these scary Pittsburgh rushes
Andrei Kostitsyn’s career stats show that he’s hottest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. If he can show up, the Habs have this one in the bag. The guy can change a game if he wants to. Shades of Ovechkin, but too inconsistent and lazy.
Need more shots, boys.. 1 shot is not enough
Well that is not happening.
Crosby smashing his stick is a sign of weakness.
and not even a mention of it on NBC. They replayed it several times, all the time talking about his leadership and character.
Great Point – I seemed to be that way today.
Gotta love Hall gill singinf the Canadian national anthem what a
class act
Man can Pittsberg whine or what, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaaawhaaaaaa
Dogs now up 3-1, Desharnais adds his 4th of the playoffs.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
That Mike Green commercial – “you need a guy who brings it Everytime” - isn’t working so well for me.
LOL that’s fantastic, did it ever play during the WSH series?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Cindy is always crying….cbc’s gobbling of penguin knob is sickening and MAB’s d is horrible.
…and STILL we’re leading.
I’m F’n stoked! Man, I love the playoffs when the Habs are playing!

“Peoples will only be truly free when the last king is strangled by the bowels of the last priest” Francois Laignelot -
Notice Sid threw his broken stick, isn’t that unsportsmanlike conduct?
So why doesn’t Crosby get a penalty for that stick break thing?
Did you see that Crosby breaks his stick against our net, then stares down the refs and there’s no call. BULLS**T!!!
3-1 Bulldogs! Desharnais on the PP! Wish there were more fans at Copps!
Wooo hooo!
“We will win the Cup one day only with ? in the nets “
GOMEZ
THAT WAS 3-1. Right there. That could come back to haunt us.
Wow MAB how many times can you **** up in one game? The guy is a comedy of errors
Oh Gomer, so close
Ugh…Gomez – Gotta get those.
So, in order to make Halak play awesome, just hang him out to dry for a bit. I’ve never seen a goalie excel so easily with those close in shots in scrums.
Good, they might hit 40, and you know what that means
Really getting tired of BOOB Cole………
Is this a playoff game?? OMG….these so called fans in Pitt are just brutal! Talk about lack of energy or enthusiasim. Can’t say that about the fans in Washington.
