Canadiens match 73-year-old futility streak

Canadiens-SabresHIO

Despite outplaying the Buffalo Sabres for most of the game, the Canadiens dropped another one at the Bell Centre.
They had not lost three home games to start a season since 1938.

Ryan Miller was great when he had to be, making 40 saves.

The Sabres had 22 shots on Carey Price

They tried so hard and achieved so little.

  2. durocher says:

$7m+ for effectively a third line center in Gomez.
    5 games, 1 assist. Awesome.

  3. This is the best game I’ve ever seen Miller play. Totally unbelievable that the Sabres are going to win this one.

Drives me crazy how he manages to stop all those chances that otherwise would have gone in with 99% of other goalies.

What are the chances of a 3-2 Habs win tonight?

  8. Mattyleg says:

I don’t know how everyone can be so glum.
We’re playing our best game of the season, and have been the victim of a couple of unlucky bounces.
We’ve had the majority of the possession, created more chances, and dominated the game.
On another night, this type of play would have us up 7-2.

We used to be a mediocre 5 on 5 team with great special teams, right now we’re a mediocre 5 on 5 team with terrible special teams, no secret why we can’t score or win.

If this is the Habs minus the core of the defense, I’m actually pretty hopeful for the rest of the season.

My biggest concern headin’ into tonight’s game is Gorges will braincramp with seconds left in the 2nd period and the Sabres will successfully employ a set play to burn the Habs.

  61. Ghosts of the Forum says:

Can I change my answer to the poll question?

Honestly, Price has been bad the last three games. Not the end of the world, he’ll bounce back, but these points do matter big time in the even-steven NHL. Can’t afford to give them away. Especially within the division. C’mon boys!!

    • Trisomy 21 says:

not much Price could do on those shots to be honest.
I mean it would be nice for him to stop those kinds of shots, he hasn’t lately, but I can’t fault him on that.

    • DEANDALLEY says:

We never had the kind of shot on Miller tonight as the last Sabres goal. If we did it would go wide.

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing”

  62. JasonM says:

We got the worst of luck, we dominate for 40 minutes and they still have the lead with 1/3 of the shots.

And they made that top glove look easy.

  63. Anti JM says:

Perfect example of a JM coaching mistake. As much as I love DD, why is he taking the faceoff with six seconds to play in the second when at that point, he’s 6/5 and pleks is 9/4…makes no sense.

im sure georges is pissed at himself too.

  64. HardHabits says:

  69. slapshot777 says:

What kind of brain cramp did Josh Gorges have. This goal is all on him. Habs can’t catch a break so far in this season no matter how good they play. Price gives up a soft 1st goal, must have been asleep. Just as well to start Budaj if Price is going to play like that.

Maybe if Budaj plays good and then plays a few in a row this just might get Prices to yank his head out of his a$$ and wake the f**k up.

To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.
