This is totally depressing. These guys play with no passion. They are soft. They can’t win battles along the boards. Price looks lost in shootouts.
We need to do something radical to shake up the team.
I want to hope, but I fear the season is lost. When you have a fragile goalie on the ropes, pound him into the ground. After the third goal, the Habs had 9 shots. That was at 2:20 of the second period. They had 14 shots for the rest of the game. Pathetic.
I’ve seen better uphill battles on a water slide. There is something fundamentally wrong with this team. The team is branded as “defensive” as dictated by JM’s style. But this team can’t hold a lead!!! They can’t score. When they do score a few they can’t hold the lead. I keep trying to tune this team out and got sucked into this game because of the lead. When will I learn? Until a change is made to right this ship…I’m out! There I said it. I don’t mind losing if we are rebuilding but complacency in the face of a failing team…forget it…I want no part of this. Who’s with me??????
believe me when I say Price & the other unrestriced free agents will be asking for a great deal of money & we will not be able to sign them……………..WHO WANTS TO PLAY FOR A TEAM LIKE THIS WE ARE IN TROUBLE MARTIN NEEDS TO GO & THE GM
Does anybody know if Geoff Molson watches the games? Does he know the season started? Has he heard about the incompetent coaching and mismanged cap? Did he pay north of 550M for this boring, pathetic product or did he expect more? Does he realize that those lost playoff gates will cost him about 3M a night? Shouldn’t somebody tell him that as the owner he has the right to fire the GM and coach and get somebody who knows what they are doing?
That’s just ridiculous. First of all, we’re still in 2011. As far as I know, the Olympics are in 2014. By that time, maybe neither of Price and Fleury will be on Team Canada. A lot can happen.
Second of all, Price is not why we lost. He made numerous saves even after the game was tied to keep the team into. He was brilliant on Vancouver’s 5-on-3. Our PP shat the bed and gave up a goal. We gave up a goal 4-on-4 and Eller had a brain fart late in the game that gave the league’s best PP (led by the Sedins) a chance to tie the game. Oh yeah, and there isn’t a player on this team that is a shootout threat. But yeah, it was Price. *Rolls eyes*
This loss wasn’t on Price. His team sat back throughout the whole third period. The Canucks skated circles around them 4 on 4 which, coupled with DD’s poor coverage, led to the Hodgson goal. A dumb Eller penalty led to the third. Those mistakes along with Martin’s coaching which has the play the most passive hockey on earth in the third led to this loss. Not Price
Price… really!
Give your head a shake.
I bet your were applauding after the saves in made in the 1st period and especially the 5-3 for about one and a half minutes.
You want him to make saves AND score goals
Hahaha, my dad walked downstairs during overtime (he has no patience to watch the games anymore), watched 45 seconds and said, “I didn’t realize we were playing the Russians tonight.”
Same $h!t, different day. Give me a shout when something changes. Till then weeknights, good book, Saturdays, movie night. Just not a team worth watching. Had ‘em on the ropes, but you knew how this one would end as soon as they gave up the shortie. Only question remaining on this season is which scenario will play out.
1. Just let’er slide, go for the draft pick
2. Let current admin adjust the player personnel
3. Clean house at the top
Sadly, I think #1 is the most likely.
It’s not complicated. The last great GM we had was Serge Savard and that was in 1995 when he was replaced by Rejean Houle(the beer salesman).
Career stats;
Jacques Demers .607% the year he won the Cup
Alain Vigneault .570% (not good enough for the Habs)
Claude Julien .596% (also not good enough for the Habs but won the Cup)
Both in the Cup last year.
Guy Boucher .628% (the one we let get away)
One we should have jumped on;
Bruce Boudreau .672%
The one to never have won a darn thing and never will…….
Jacques Martin .475%
It’s true, we are missing some valuable experienced D-men. It’s true Hamrlik would have been good to keep. It’s true we haven’t had a big centreman in a very long time. It’s true we have some talented players.
BUT, we don’t have a winning coach with a winning formula, with a successful record to take this team to the next level even if we get all our D-men back.
Is there really anything to discuss here? The stats speak for themselves.
A few weeks ago, some posters thought there were some ‘metrics’ to indicate that the team actually deserved a better fate and eventually all means would be regressed to and the team would start winning. Other posters suspected that the team wasn’t very good and a few games of out shooting opponents simply masks the fact that this is not a playoff club.
And here we are now, lucky to even get to o/t and a shoot out. 1 win in the last 1,000,000 games, with no end in sight to this shite.
Like I said the refs again had a hand in the outcome of a Habs game. Every time the Habs have a lead going into a third period you can rest assured that the opposition will get opportunities to get themselves back in the game.
Did you see Cammelleri’s shot attempt, talk about half assed. This guy’s quit on the coach. PG, GM GET OFF YOUR KEESTERS AND FIRE THE COACH ALREADY…….ARGH!
Of course Price loses in the shoot out. By the time the Habs get there he’s tired and over worked from the 3rd period barrage and whoever his opponent is, is nice and fresh from resting in his crease for the whole 3rd period.
Another blown game. Just crazy, how many games does it take before someone does their job and the right thing. This is just ridiculous. We could have had this game tonight. This is just not acceptable.
Habs offensive thrusts are all individual efforts- like Eller trying to go one on one with a defender and nobody in a red shirt for miles to help. Same as PK76 on his rush at the end of OT. Probably a JM line change.
Mike? Fun? No that wasn’t… Every time I get on here for a game, it seems to be same ‘ol pathetic lack of killer instinct. We have some good players, but they are getting the spirit sucked out of them by JM and the head office. When has the last mid-season coaching change helped the Habs? If we had to do it, the season was lost anyways.

if not for Price there is no shoot-out….
take your drink to the end of the bar buddy…come on now, don’t be a fool…
agree with roady, smart man. for you MannyR if anything price dosent look shaky team looks shaky when we get the lead, also cant score in shootout ..
I want to hope, but I fear the season is lost. When you have a fragile goalie on the ropes, pound him into the ground. After the third goal, the Habs had 9 shots. That was at 2:20 of the second period. They had 14 shots for the rest of the game. Pathetic.

GO HABS GO! 2011-12 is our year!
Last year the Habs lost 8 games in extra time, this year they’ve already lost 7.
25 before 14
I’ve seen better uphill battles on a water slide. There is something fundamentally wrong with this team. The team is branded as “defensive” as dictated by JM’s style. With Regards from FuzE_gus
Well, I really don’t see this team getting any better this season. Hopefully in the next few days or so the following rumor will come true:
http://www.habsaddict.com/2011/12/habs-shakeup-are-pierre-gauthier-and.html
Thanks for the link. Read it although not sure what to make of it.
Scariest of all was the line I copied below.
“If the latter is true, then the Canadiens have never been on a truer path to becoming Harold Ballard’s Leafs”.
Two goals by rookie defencemen and all the high priced help asleep for another loss.
I am not sure how he did it, but Cammalleri became the first shooter in a shoot-out to look like a pussy. Nice to be first about something I guess.
Despite my outrage at the game, this still made me LMFAO.
Well done hippo, well done.
- Honestly yours
WE’RE NEVER GOING TO WIN WITH MARTIN! HE’S NEVER WON ANYTHING IN HIS LIFE!
“WE PLAY TO WIN THE GAME” – HERM EDWARDS
“WE PLAY TO WIN A POINT” – JACQUES MARTIN
Haha, this team is so funny.
It’s like it was guaranteed they’ll blow it – and they did!
believe me when I say Price & the other unrestriced free agents will be asking for a great deal of money & we will not be able to sign them……………..WHO WANTS TO PLAY FOR A TEAM LIKE THIS WE ARE IN TROUBLE MARTIN NEEDS TO GO & THE GM

Once again, the Montreal LoserPoints can’t hold on to a lead and take the loss in a shootout. Getting REALLY tired of this same old story.
Just our luck, the only player we have who seems to actually score a few in the shootout (Gio) gets injured during the game and can’t go.
FYI to Max-Pac: You have to HIT THE F*CK!N NET in the shootout.
FYI to Cammy: WTF was that? Did you just try an NHL 07 move?
- Honestly yours
I prefer the Montreal Maple Leafs. More fitting.
i prefer you leave and never come on this site again.
I’ll try not to lose any sleep over your discomfort with my posts.
The Panthers are 2nd in the conference? (still squinting eyes)
Dale Tallon, a leader with big balls and a vision.
So does this cement Fleury as the starter for Team Canada? If Montreal scores three goals, and that is a lot for them, Price needs to hold the fort.
Blue, blanc et rouge. Red and White for Canada. Blue for Smurfs.
You do realize the Olympics are over 2 years away?
That’s just ridiculous. First of all, we’re still in 2011. As far as I know, the Olympics are in 2014. By that time, maybe neither of Price and Fleury will be on Team Canada. A lot can happen.

Can we just pretend that its still the preseason?
four teams with fewer wins, if it wasn’t for the loser point, this is a lottery team
we’re 11-17
we need say 44 wins to get 94 points
we have 11, so we need 33 wins
54 games left
we need to go 33 – 19 to end the year
…
right
In so much of the 3rd period, it must have been embarrassing for our boys. Most of the time, they looked like pylons.
Vancouver simply has a higher level of skill thruout it’s line-up. Only Luongo’s shaky start enabled the 1 point.
Says it all.
OT reminded me of the Soviet Red Army team of the 70′s. Complete puck possession. Did the Habs have control of the puck for more than 30 seconds?
Hahaha, my dad walked downstairs during overtime (he has no patience to watch the games anymore), watched 45 seconds and said, “I didn’t realize we were playing the Russians tonight.”
I guess the regular shoot out practices aren’t working…. oh right, we don’t do that. Silly me.
This loss is on Carey Price. Should have been a 3-0 for Montreal. Time to watch poker again. It worked during the lockout!
“If you’re not the TOP DAWG, the view never changes”
Really? it’s 6-3 with any other goalie in our net.
your the “top idiot”, clearly not prices fault teams falls apart in 3rd cant score in shoot-out time for martan to get a new notebook…
Did I say anything about the shoot out [ban pending]?
“If you’re not the TOP DAWG, the view never changes”
go watch poker top idiot. wanna blame the goalie when its not his fault, obviously you know nothing about hockey top idiot.
Wow no place for trolling here.
The torch be yours to hold it high!
@MTLJosh
how am i trolling bud? i dont care how hig you hold your torch we still cant score
Get out of here, you’re a waste of space.
whats all the hate for we all habs fans disapointed after a tough loss like that. some ppl are just ignorant
Was I talking to you?
No I was telling Top Dawg to get out of here for blaming Price for the loss.
i dunno were you talking to me sorry bud just all these haters on this site when were obvi all pissed after losing some many close games

I guess this means Fleury is starting for Team Canada.
Blue, blanc et rouge. Red and White for Canada. Blue for Smurfs.
You’re either making a really bad joke or you have a minimal understanding of hockey.
do you want canada to lose? and if you wanna talk about smurfs go play with a 3 year old.
Price for Theodore.
Keep smokin’.
kick this fool out
A new coach= best X-mas present ever!
a new team maybe
I just don’t see any hope for this team in overtime period. Shoot out or five minutes of sudden death.
It’s sudden death alright when it comes to getting that second point.
Dear Geoff Molson, grow some f’n balls and take care of business. Carbo never got this much rope.
It’s not complicated. The last great GM we had was Serge Savard and that was in 1995 when he was replaced by Rejean Houle(the beer salesman).

Till we have a 4 line who can resiliently fore check and disturb the opposition 1 and 2line we going nowhere
Martin, Gauthier ,Timmons,Gainey,Gomez,Cammi and Gio…..if ya want the wheels to fall off ,these are your guy’s….yikes!
You forgot Gomez’ Fenwick.
Our season in a nutshell….what a complete embarrassment….wow that was painful to watch

Should blow up this team with COACH and start over…
F@&K
NAIL
Boycott the next home game. 21,273 empty seats might get someone’s attention.
Well at least Geoff Molson is happy.
The silver lining you ask? We are one game closer to seeing Jock Martin fired. One can dream.
My wife just told me
Well, they got the loser point!
It sucks the big one

You don’t take dumb penalties with five minutes left in a game you are leading by one goal, they deserved to lose this game.
??????????????????
We suck. Bottom line. Let’s have the guts to admit it, and start rebuilding. Hated watching my beloved Habs tonight

Too bad Montreal has picked up all these loser points this year. The team otherwise would have the first pick overall in the upcoming draft.
I calculated that without the loser points (for all teams) Montreal will be sitting at 13th with 6 points behind 8th place.
Did you see Cammelleri’s shot attempt, talk about half assed. This guy’s quit on the coach. PG, GM GET OFF YOUR KEESTERS AND FIRE THE COACH ALREADY…….ARGH!
This game reminds me too much of the Leafs.
Pull out to a three zip lead and find a way to lose in the shoot out.
see my blog at http://noroomatthedump.blogspot.com/
And the worst thing is that the team doesn’t even deserve the point.

http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Apostrophes
Cammy. Worse shootout attempt for a guy who has scored 80 pts.
What do you say to this team?
Moen would have scored. What was Martin thinking?
Anyone know what our overall shooting percentage is in the shootout? ‘Cause it sure sucks…
Well, Vancouver showed why they were able to make it to the Cup final last season.
I’m guessing even a lower percentage then our PP.
4/20?
Full Breezer 4 Life
An appropriate number, because their lack of success in putting the puck in the net make me want to do some ‘recreationals’ with Boone.
Haha me tooooo
Full Breezer 4 Life
LMAO
Do HABS EVER score in shootout??
11-11-7
4 home wins in 16 games. This team sucks.
Cammalleri is useless.
Very painful to watch.
Fire him. This team can’t hold a lead to save their lives.
damn….
Of course Price loses in the shoot out. By the time the Habs get there he’s tired and over worked from the 3rd period barrage and whoever his opponent is, is nice and fresh from resting in his crease for the whole 3rd period.
Boy this team is just breaking my heart.
Why does this coach refuse to use AK on penalty shots? why MaxPac every game?
This act is getting really old.
brutal
Another blown game. Just crazy, how many games does it take before someone does their job and the right thing. This is just ridiculous. We could have had this game tonight. This is just not acceptable.
The only way this team wins is with a Price shutout
Please AK
It’s OVER!!!
Of course now Roberto is in the zone
Price looked like he was drunk on the first attempt.
Give Leblanc a shot!
DD, really?

And the roster is weak too.
Shoot out? Give up now.

Sad, but true!
Habs offensive thrusts are all individual efforts- like Eller trying to go one on one with a defender and nobody in a red shirt for miles to help. Same as PK76 on his rush at the end of OT. Probably a JM line change.
I’ve said it before, http://www.firemillen.com got the LIons a new GM in the NFL. How much would it cost to buy http://www.firejacques.com and have somebody administer the site?
good thing I was drinking for this game. gots lots of booze left over from the cruise. god love the duty free shop.
Where did you go? on what line?
Bahamas, Caribbean Cruise line. We go every year for a weekend.
I worked for Royal Caribbean for 11 years.
Cool. We were just on the Majesty of the Seas.
Mike?
Promote the Youth, Support From The Veterans and Remember the Heritage!
If I’m Price, this what I’m thinking.
Can’t these effin’ people ever score an effin’ goal during OT so we don’t have to go to an effin’ shootout, so I don’t become the effin’ goat.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he is telling them that already
Would be nice to see PK in the shootout
