Bruins lose David Kreji to a broken wrist…. That is horrible news for them if boston manages to get by philly( which is likely) they will have no chance against us or the pens .
HFS, I don’t think you need to call out or bait anyone. Most of those you call “kool-aid drinkers” are simply frustrated fans. I’m one of them. I just happen to think we are best served by leaving SK in the press box. It’s the lack of a 4th line that most are ticked about. Dressing guys who end up with a couple of minutes (or zero) ice time while the rest of the guys are sucking wind out there.
The SK thing is an easy target for some who don’t like JM or believe they could do a better job. A coach’s role is far moe complicated than the oft quoted line “Great coaches coach to a player’s strength and will put them in
situations where they can succeed”. That is but a single element to being a coach. How about this one, “A great coach has the courage to not compromise on excellence”. Hey, I can pluck dozens of saying from the web and apply them to this situation but quotes don’t make a coach and don’t win hockey games. I have an issue with JM not playing 4 lines but I do not have an issue with his handling of SK.
Like I commented last night, putting SK on the 4th line does not increase the chances of the 4th
line playing. That issue is entirely separate of the SK discussion.
He’s a 4th line player on a team that is not playing a 4th line and he’s a 4th line player who is in the doghouse. JM has lots of other choices available to make up a 4th line.
I like SK. But if I was a young NHLer who is talented but still scratched for 5 straight games on a team making a playoff run I would show the coaches I wanted to play by practicing harder and proving to them I belong. What else can a scratched player do other than work harder than hell in practice?
Why does he leave early? Makes no sense to me. Guy has 6 goals this year? demanded a trade with zero leverage and now seems to have his teammates thinking he does not give a crap while the 2010 Habs DO give a crap.
And for the record the TSN report says that Price asked why he left the ice early while SK mumbled something. Price follows up with a “you to good?”. I think he may just think that.
But I can say I’d rather have the team work with him rather than throw him under a bus. Sure hes this an that, piss poor attitude and the works… With all that, the kid has a helluva upside when he decides he wants to play.
Correct me if I’m wrong, weren’t folks saying the same thing about Price after a few words with Markov after a game? Bad attitude , doesn’t deserve to be with the team etc etc… And now he’s calling out Sergei in the locker room… Things change.
I’d rather work with a draft pick a little too long and find out he isn’t worth as much as expected rather than ship him off to another team to watch him excel for not much in return. But thats me.
Then again, perhaps it has something to do with the 300$ jersey I picked up 2 seasons ago back when he was still a fan favorite
So Lats became instantly talented enough after the trade to MIN, please. He was being used, much like Sergei, in a 3/4 line checking role which didn’t take advantage of there offensive skills. IMO neither one was ever given a legit shot at being a top 6 guy on the Habs and like Lats, Sergei will show his true talent in his next stop. Then when he does people will say, well he wouldn’t have done it Montreal, like they said about Lats, to which I say bull***t.
By mismanaging SK the coaching staff has thrown two players off the team. Andrei doesnt have the character to be a professional by himself and he relies on Sergei for alot off of the ice.
Both players will likely bolt for the KHL next year. We free up cap space but lose two assets that cant be replaced.
Don’t really need to state the obvious, but what the hell: This game is a must-win. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit to Washington was a miracle. Climbing out of a 3-1 hole against the Stanley Cup champs will require divine intervention or perhaps an airplane crash.
That said, Montreal is giving the Pens all they can handle in this series. The Habs played fantastic defense again in game 3 and Jaro was Jaro. But Pittsburgh showed they can play some defense as well and Fleury had a tremendous game.
Montreal’s coaching staff needs to make some offensive adjustments. The defensive philosophy is working but the Habs are in dire need of scoring from someone not named Cammalleri or Gionta. Andrei Kostitsyn and/or Benoit Pouliot need to step up—and tonight would be a good time for that to happen.
I’m hoping we’ll see more of PK in the offensive picture with set plays that take advantage of his booming shot and skating skills.
Triple, that’s the best thing you’ve said about this affair yet. You are correct in saying we can’t afford to lose a youngster with this potential. I have disagreed with you on how this has been handled but the end result, losing a young potentailly good player, is tough to swallow. But what’s done is done so hopefully we get something of value in a trade. Or, saints preserve us, SK is given another chance over the summer to re-think his future here.
Pouliot has basically had his best NHL season ever this year since joining Montreal, but where did all that good progression go? He’s like half of what he was months ago when the talk was he and JM were speaking the same language, now what? Boucher’s handle on player development this year reads much better than JM’s looking at how the Bulldogs players improved compared to how ours did.
Some of the veterans got better on their stats, but we have a very solid crew of professionals in the veteran ranks with no enigmas really, but that’s why a team has a core of veterans, they’re pros and they don’t need a lot of hand-holding by the coach or direction. The young guys generally take up the majority of the coach’s workload because they need to be developed and I am just very underwhelmed, looking at the last few years of variable progression of the young players and noticing that again, we’ve had a year of very spotty player development. I’m tired of every team besides ours having young players who keep getting better, while ours just keep going up and down.
I would hate to see Boucher go. Is it likely they would replace Martin after his team has gone into at least the second round of the playoffs? If they manage to come back and beat the Penguins then his job here next season would be even more secured.
Not one skater who had trouble last year besides OB got better this one is more my issue I guess.
I think Pouliot was a disappointment last season (and earlier this season) and definitely improved in Montreal this season. Besides a couple young skaters and the young goalies, there are older skaters who also improved their stats over last season.
Like I said, I am not big fan of Martin. It just seems that you are now shifting your argument, trying to credit anyone else for anything positive and laying all of the blame for any negative or backward steps onto Martin. Do you really have to stretch the truth or work that hard to find criticism with Martin?
I doubt we’ll ever know the real truth, but yeah it must be something pretty bad because somebody in this equation must be very wrong. With the precious little information I have I have no choice but to side with the guy who’s been in the league for a couple of decades. But yeah I’d love to know the truth.
I firmly believe that the Habs have the skill and drive to beat anyone….but, still…do you target Staal’s foot? I wouldn’t encourage going out of your way but maybe during a scrum a little love tap to remind him it’s the playoffs?
Thank goodness for that. I liked SK74 and really believed (and still believe) that he could be a good player. But in the first couple games against Washington, he pulled up so as not to get hit like 6-7 times. He made bad plays to clear the zone. Well guess what? It’s playoff time. No passengers on this train, buddy.
He’d be just like Yashin if he ever actually started to produce.
Well, according to Elliot Friedmans twitter, Martin has told Sergei not to practice at all. How far in the dog house do you have to be to not even be able to see the ice for a morning skate?
Pyatt spent half his year in the A than the NHL this year so that would be JM taking credit for Boucher’s work if anything, Pyatt was initially under Boucher and I would say his improvements came from there. Boucher also being the guy who initially turned things around with SK after the demotion and reported the kid was good for NHL action. I’ll give Gorges since he’s just around that age but has anything really changed with him since last year? He’s always been a guy to give 100% and hasn’t had trouble since he got here. Not one skater who had trouble last year besides OB got better this one is more my issue I guess. JM came in with talk about how he’d help the young players, well besides the ones who were getting better by themselves, what’s he done to help out the guys with trouble?
Halak got better this season, but I think that owes more to his own commitment and the goaltending coach than JM having long sessions with him, Price, well yeah his stats are up and in terms of his game he’s better than he was in the last half of the 09 season but he still isn’t where he was in the first half of 08-09.
He’s had labrynthitis and it really screws up your balance coz it affects your ear. It’s a pretty serious condition that can take people months to heal from.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
how many skaters 25 or under got better under JM this year? With the exception Ryan O’Byrne, not one
Gorges? Pyatt? I don’t agree that Pouliot has been worse than he was in Minnesota either.
You did say “skaters”, but it is worth mentioning the two young goaltenders too. Halak’s season speaks for itself, while some might even argue Price was also better this season than last. Despite fewer starts and wins, Price’s save% improved from .905 to .912, unfortunately for him, Halak was better.
I am not a big Martin fan, but he has not been a total disaster.
Essentially you’re right. A player’s salary is paid out over the regular season. Player’s get paid bonus money for each round they advance in the playoffs. I couldn’t find a breakdown of how much though.
I don’t know what the hell JM is thinking. Dressing Darche and sitting him for the whole game. Not dressing SK and having him see Darche sit at the end of the bench opening and closing the door.
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Good one! The sight of 100′s of pacifiers being thrown on the ice after Sid whines to an official (which should happen in the first minute) would be pretty funny. Juvenile, but funny.
So Staal looks like he’s good to go a handful of days after surgery. But Spacek is still out nearly two weeks after coming down with a ‘virus?’ What is it, Ebola?
Yeah, during training camp. Jacques basically took an immediate dislike to him. Since Day 1 these two haven’t gotten along. Everyone makes mistakes, but when SK makes a mistake… God, it’s the end of the world!
Although I agree JM hasn’t been very successful with our youth, not everything can be pinned on him. I think Lats and Sergei were cases very few coaches would have had success with, they’re both players who want top 6 minutes but don’t quite have the latent yet, and lack the proper attitude to play bottom 6. AK isn’t what I would call youth anymore either, although still young, he should be past the point where he needs the nurturing some of kids seems to need, so his lack of success is on himself, and the injury. Plus Pyatt has done quite well under JM, just his kind of player it would seem.
I know unlike us, most on HIO are already rid of SK. But I am very curious to know what SK did to warrant such a severe penalty. It must be something that occured off the ice and I imagine it will all come out after the playoffs. One thing is clear, SK’s time in Montreal is over. Too bad, this organization can ill afford to lose a young player with actual talent.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Can I ask why this Sergei article nonsense is news? How many times do we listen to these pundits and airheads spread rumours and nonsense about the habs. Oh Price said something to Sergei in the hall? So what, the media was hiding in the trash can?
Get over it. Teams talk, they argue, they say un-PC things. No one really cares on other teams so why the hell should we? I don’t take any stock in any of this nonsense.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want that man anywhere near GM duties even as an assistant. Doesn’t matter anyway though, there are several coach-less teams that will snag Boucher this summer.
The ability of JM to work with young players was obviously a clever rumour began by him to see he gets a job. I know most people don’t have much to think Sergei right now but let’s be honest, how many skaters 25 or under got better under JM this year? With the exception Ryan O’Byrne, not one.
Lapierre had his head up his *** until the playoffs started basically. AK, well we all know the story there. Sergei? Well that’s been a topic of some debate in the last 48 hours. The worst edition of Gui ever was tossed aside in favour of Pouliot and well, Pouliot after initial success is doing what now?
For a coach who was supposed to work well with young players, he’s gone 1 for 6 this season on the skaters, that’s **** by anyone’s standard. The count has to swallow his pride and work with what he has, anyone here who thinks we can make it with a short bench for the rest of this thing is welcome to believe that but it’s already starting to backfire and we’re only in Game 4 of the Semis.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
Ian Cobb has assured me that Martin will move to another Habs office to make room for Boucher.
I have a lot of faith in Ian.
He is a great Habs fan, and a man of his word.
I refuse to believe that the Habs will lose Boucher because Jm has 3 years left on his contract.
I met Geoff Molson – albeit briefly.
He is a very sharp guy, and a huge Habs fan as well.
M. Molson will not let this happen, and neither will Ian.
It’s all neutral zone trap by the Bruins. Flyers also look out of gas. More than that, Bruins match up better against the Sabres and Flyers. It’s just how it is. Regardless, if Jordan Staal is back Pens repeat.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
I guess you forgot about PK, or you already consider him an established NHL player and no longer just a prospect??
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that
By Elliotte Friedman If Guy Boucher is offered an NHL coaching job this summer, the Canadiens will not stand in his way.
It appears so obvious to us that Boucher will coach the habs.
I think someone in PG’s office might just have the same plan, right?
Losing Boucher to another team would be like losing Subban because we already have Hamrlik.
Please tell me I am not cheering for a team led by retards.
Maybe so but for $3M+ you can’t only show up every third or fourth night. Sorry but Hal Gill never takes a night off, neither does Josh Gorges, neither does Gionta etc. AK has great potential … but the days of waiting for the ‘potential’ to pay dividends has passed. Good bye to AK and SK and let’s move on.
One of the worst reffed games I’ve ever seen. And not even necessarily because it went against us mostly (although Gorges could have been called for tripping on the Malkin breakaway at the end). The worst part is that the inconsistency means the players have no idea what they can and can’t do. You can’t play hockey like that.
What are the chances JM realizes he has to take the handcuffs off and let the guys go? Same as that of SK getting an invite to a barbecue at JM’s this summer.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Hey, did everyone notice the AWESOME job Moore did tonight, especially in the last few minutes of the game? 2nd round pick, anytime.
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
Agree Steve. I hope the Habs aren’t whining like we are here. They have to go out and push the play, dig harder in the Pit corners and for heavens sake get someone in front of the net hassling MAF. He’s getting a free ride again.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
Great win tonight couldn’t watch had too listen to Murray Wilson saying PK should be benches anyway… Won’t coment on refs didn’t see any of the calls but it sounds like te boys beat more than just the pens tonight…
A little off topic but Johan franzen has 4 goals and 2 assists tonight what a machine!
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
Looks like I finally pissed someone off at CBC. Jeff Marek basically told me I’m being self-righteous when stating that the CBC hates the Habs and they’re pissed because their beloved blue and white brigade missed the playoffs again.
I found a TV at work w/Versus, caught the last 5 mins. Nearly died when Malkin went on a break. Excellent blog tonight Mr. Boone. You kept me in the game. All hail.
Yeah, love that clever move by AK to keep tossing the puck back into the corner where his much smaller linemate is expected to dig it out for him and lay a pass on the tape where he’s floating aimlessly in the faceoff circle.
You know, I am very proud of our guys for doing what they do best.
I am, however, blown away by how bad the officiating was and it should still be brought up.
This kind of BS can make a world of difference between who moves on and who doesn’t and it shouldn’t be left in the hands of those ridiculous bastards as to who will advance.
The players on the ice should be the ONLY ones who decide where they are going.
I’m also scratching my head as to why Talbot got a star over Lapierre.
Excellent win by les boys, they were able to prevail despite the horrific reffing.
Now we have the mo going back to Pitt. We are where we should be, tied 2-2.
Jaro had a shaky start, but came up big in the third. His saves on Sid and Gino on the third were huge.
Stupid Versus announcers praising how Sid is 25-0 going into the third up by a goal, and “the Pens know how to score and they know how to defend a lead.” Well, well, well.
I’ll tell you what. There isn’t any other way that this year’s edition of the Habs would do it. They have been right on the edge all season, and in the first round, and now against the Champs. But they keep on finding a way to stay alive. If this isn’t inspirational, I’m not sure what is.
- Max is incredible below the goal line, when he is on his game. So Strong on the puck!
- Halak is Halak!
- I have lost all respect for Crosby. You are the best player in the world. Act like it! I can just imagine what Jean Belliveau thinks when he watchs your whining.
- If the NHL has any integrity at all, the zebras tonight are done for the year! Disgraceful and Embarassing!
Please Mr. Boone …..Cooke wearing the sweater of Beliveau, Richard, Robinson, Cournoyer and the rest? That would be an insult and quite possibly blasphemous. Wash your mouth out with soap. LOL
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Holy hell, if you’re going to blindly throw the puck in front of the net, make sure that one of your teammates is there to receive it! The Pens don’t need any help creating turnovers!

Cheer for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
The way the boys celebrated at the end, they knew. They knew what they were up against tonight, and overcame. AWESOME effort in the third. Very proud of my Montreal Canadiens tonight. Again.
I understand penalties can be subjective but there are certain ones that aren’t and this has to be looked into. When gill slashed crosby’s stick and it broke, it was and is always called a slash. has been all year. but when CROSBY slashes kostitsyns stick out of his hand and then later in the game breaks plekanec’s with no call it becomes absolutely ridiculous.
then i think, who cares, 3-2 win baby. crosby is just a little whiney bitch anyway
I was SO seriously bent tonight. They were playing so hard and well…and the reffing was just horrible. But THEN!!! I remembered I didn’t have my Cammalleri jersey on!!!! So guess what? Put on the jersey at the beginning of the 3rd and guess what?? Well, you know what.
So my apologies – I will not be taking off this jersey until we hoist the cup. Deal?? ;o)
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!”
You’re right. These are judgement calls. It’s like shooting the puck over the glass. Automatic. Too make it worse, theye never even saw Gill’s little tap on ’87′s stick, just the whinning afterward “Wa, WA, the big man broke my stick, Daaaadddyy!!!”
Speechless with admiration for this team. Pittsburgh may have a stacked lineup, but whenever I think the Habs are done, they dig down a little deeper and gut out a win. Reminds me of that movie Cinderella Man.
What a comeback by the Habs! Halak continues to be Halak, Lapierre has rediscovered his game and Gionta is carrying this team on his back.
Did you see the look in his eyes in the third? He refused to lose that game because of the refs. He was determined for the Habs to overcome the adversity and win, DESPITE the refs.
One call against them that may have resulted in a goal vs. 2 goals for them as the result of blown calls/non-calls. Yeah that is definatley something to complain about.
Honestly I was expecting the refs to make another BS call that would give them a 6 on 4 advantage. Glad that didn’t happen. Habs played with character tonight and did something that most teams could not do. Play a game against the former champs, and against the zebras and come out on top
Add to that when Cooke shot the puck into Halak’s net after the whistle when he got called for a penalty. should have been unsportsmanlike conduct… the problem with the call when Gill broke The Baby’s stick is not the penalty, it’s that the ref did not have his hand up at all and wasn’t looking at the play. You can see him turn to look at Crosby after he hears him whining and then he raises his hand a good 5 seconds after the play. The only reason he makes that call is because The Baby is whining, and that’s what is upsetting: that the ref is listening to his complaint without having actually seen the play. How does he know Sid didn’t break his own stick again? He doesn’t. He just does whatever Crosby tells him and that is not how a ref should do his job. He should have been in position to make that call and then I would have had no problem if he called it right away.
Richard Thomas was caught with 200,000 in steroid and he supplied Douglas Nagel a chiropractor who was treating Caps players. Sheriff Grady Judd said Nagel shipments went up when the Caps were in the playoffs, when the NHL does not test. Bettman said they investigated but found nothing but the head of NHL security Dennis Cunningham said they did not investigate. So this makes Gary Bettman a liar and so is it any surprise the refs turn a blind eye allowing Pens to score those two goals. I watched the Pens all season I see players skating faster than they did during the season would I be surprise if they are dirty too . I don’t think the Pens are any cleaner than the Caps and Bettman is playing with the future of the NHL No way the NHL can handle what Baseball went through but Bettman doesn’t care he knows the a-holes on capital hill won’t call they don’t like hockey.
Jaro settled down and came up big after that first goal, but frankly, I’m surprised that Letang didn’t get the first star for scoring the game-winning goal.

Cheer for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
After the Game 5 win against WSH, my CA crest 15-16 Heritage jersey became my Starting Jersey for the Playoffs, it’s been on for all 6 playoff wins so far, I shall not tempt fate any further.
Anyone growing a playoff beard? Mine is starting to get pretty shaggy but I’ll be damned if I shave it now! I got fed up and trimed it the last few playoffs and we lost, so it can grow to my knee’s this year and I won’t touch it!
GO HABS GO!!!
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
And now I’m off to enjoy $1 beer night at the establishment you have taken your avatar from.
I wish the Habs could play like they did for all 3 periods. I don’t know if it’s the coaching, or Pittsburgh tired out at the end of the game or what, but the Habs have proved that they can dominate two of the best teams for stretches of time.
The announcers on the French radio station I was listening to on my way home this evening seemed very excited so I knew the Habs won. The not-watching-them-live streak continues! I heard the refs were really, really bad this evening. Bettman is like a wicked witch hoping that his evil minions OV and Crosby progress. He just can’t get his simple mind around the fact that for those that love hockey, this year’s Habs are much better salesman for the game than any individual star player. Hell, they wrote a feature article about Halak in the NYT the other day!
Crybaby Crosby’s going to wet the bed tonight worrying about the next game. Confidence must be shot all to hell now. Stanley Cup champs being defeated by an 8th place club.
You know what makes the best player in the world even better? Knowing that if he whines, he gets the call. That is why he does it. It works and it helps his team.
Missed another win, I need to stay away i guess. I found a really staticy French station (AM 730) and though I don’t know French, I figured out it was a Habs win from the end of game noise. Well done boys!
Did I miss something? Heals was saying: throwing garbage on the ice is giving the top offensive line of the Pens a rest. Yes, we are also getting a rest, but his point is valid!?
I should go hug Halak every day before the game. It obviously worked tonight. what an awesome game and what a gutsy win by the Habs. The Bell was definitely full throttle rocking! Totally worth it. As for the officiating: I can rant about it for a whole page, but I want to save up my energy for something better. Good Night everyone!
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
The Hockey Gods evened things up tonight. What a farce of a game that was, and our boys showed what character, grit and determination they have.
You could have said this after Game 6 of the Washington series, but here it is again: No matter what happens the rest of the way, we should be nothing but proud of our guys in the bleu, blanc et rouge. What a team.
Good plan SF! Is that the nice blue jersey with the white? That is my favorite heritage jersey…
The jersey I have has become a Cammalleri jersey. I have had it a few years but didn’t have a player I wanted on it. Then I really began to enjoy Cammalleri. Won the tix in January off HIO, went to the game and then got to meet Cammy and he signed it – and both my kids’ jerseys, so it’s officially a Cammy jersey now.
So we’ll all just continue to not tempt fate and hopefully our boys will bring us thru this series too!
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!”
Brian Engblom is a real douche. that being said, I was real proud of this team after game 7, Im just as proud now. I know I was a bit tough regarding the reffing, yes it sucked, in the first and the third, but dont you see, we need to, as a fan base, rise above that. No one wants us here but we are here and they cant take that away from us. We complain about Sid whining, We need to be stronger, and better. This has been magic, dont lose sight of that. There are forces much greater than officiating on our side. Again Im proud of our boys tonight, Period
Gionta is incredibly strong for his size, otherwise he wouldn’t be an NHLer, they seem to forget that the small guys are there not only because of speed and skill, but superior physical power for their size as well.
Stayed away from the Blue, too Leafs-esque in colouration for one thing, it’s the jersey that’s basically a Canadiens jersey but it’s got a CA crest on the chest rather than a CH and it has a CA on the left sleeve.
Only jersey i really liked from the throwbacks, got it for half-price before I had to move.
Ridiculous no-call on Habs tripping Pens Malkin on clear break away. Penalty shot in order or at least a penalty. Tough to brag about the win with that no-call. We’ll never know. Probably tied game result with a justified competition for the win would have been great to view for hockey fans regardles of what team would have won. We’ll never know……
Never, ever, ever give up. This team simply amazes me. No quit, no whining, no unprofessional actions on the ice or behind the bench. Just pure heart. After such a miserable low in the first this is just beautiful.
You refs should be ashamed of yourselves. You are the biggest jokes in professional sports. How much money do you steal betting on hockey fixing games? Bunch of funkin @ssholes.
Boone, I think more appropriate title would be “Disgraceful!!”
These 2 clowns in Black and white should be reprimanded big time. However in the Bettman world, which needs at least one of Crosby or Ovechin in the next round, they’ll probably be rewarded with Saturday’s game!
True. And I really don’t care how the rest of this series goes. Just like the Caps series this comeback is worth the months of pissing and moaning. No quit in this bunch.
Character win. The Habs could have turtled after one of the most horrendous, nauseating displays of reffing in the history of the game and two flat periods. Instead, they pushed back. I find it extremely hard to believe that the NHL doesn’t have any better refs than that. Lots of obvious calls were missed, with the vast majority in the Pens favour. That should never happen be allowed to happen in a game of that magnitude. With Bettman at the helm, the league is becoming more and more of a joke.
Yup – Versus had to give some positive comments to Montreal – after all they won the game. Some nice comments about Gionta and not a peep about anything negative. Healy should take notes.
Geoff Molson should ask since he spent 550 million to buy the Canadiens, what will it cost for him to get an interest in the NHL Officating assocation?
What a classy organization. The brass band for the anthems. Mr. Jean Beliveau in attendance. Rising up against all adversity. We are the CHampions my friend.
Gionta was very classy in saying “No Comment” on the officials question. But you could see it in his face, what he thought. Just once I want to hear a Hab comment, tell the truth. It needs to be said. You get the feeling tonight though that something might have given. Even the CBC are bringing it up. They know there was somthing foul out there tonight.
At least they can only put two of our guys in the box at a time. If the lead holds, they’d be tempted to put three or four. If I were a penguin, I’d be diving off icebergs like you wouldn’t believe.
biggest assist of the game – the crowd. all those towels after the darche penalty allowed for a nice breather.
i haven’t watched the whole game yet (PVR), only caught the third live, but i said this last series and bears repeating here: i’d rather see guys take angry penalties then get shoved around or turn the other cheek. the ‘meltdown’ against washington in game three (gomez, gionta, misconducts, etc) showed passion and was a minor vctory. gionta ramming orkpik into the boards after taking all that abuse was all guts and F— You. Loved it.
last note – very happy to see darche out there, and for moore. darche has been all heart since he first came up and is the polar opposite of the kostitsyns/ribeiros/jokinens of the NHL. Moore is all effort, every shift. those kinds of guys (see also: McPhee, Mike; Skrudland, Brian; Draper, Chris) are the kinds that will do anything and everything, without any fuss or recognition, in order to win.
I am still shaking and can’t believe that we beat the champs who were going for the knock-out punch tonight with the help of the refs (one of the worst games of officiating to date. Thank you ghosts of the forum for moving to the bell center and making things right. Go Habs! All the way. I am a believer.
OMG I cannot believe we just won that game. Wow. And PK’s interview on CBC was so good, he’s just adorable…soooo down to earth.
The Molsons chose a good year to buy the team back, didn’t they? Raking it in!! But it’s all goood….
Notes: AK: scary, how when he has one hit, or one good shift, we’re like, ooooh, AK playing a great game. Screw that, he’s supposed to be scoring and hitting and playing way, way better than just one occasional good shift. Wake up, man!
Max!!!! Max, you can play, you can score, you can make Crosby cry, why not try putting in a whole season’s effort? And NOBODY is happier than him when he scores, it’s great to watch.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe
A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
The officiating in the Quebec-NY Rangers series of 1994 was much worse than this as unbelievable as it sounds, but this game last night ranks right up there.
Great game! To beat the Pens and the Refs. Priceless. Also to the MAB haters 16:24 ice time +1. Screw off. Next game we win in Pittsburg again vs. the Pens and the Refs. Go Habs Go.
Pens got two free goals tonight. Stole a shutout from Halak. I think the refs conspired to get even with Martin who did not even criticize them, but only responded to a reporter’s question about officiating by saying it was up to the press to decide if the refs were biased against the Habs. Even that mild, harmless comment caused these corrupt refs to get together and say “we’ll show Martin what bad calls are all about.”
I know, the last 11 minutes I was cringing, gasping, my heart galluping, I don’t know how much more we can take of this….
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
Thank you Rocket, Doug , Gumper and all the boys for finally coming to the Bell Centre . I know its not the Forum but with you all there now you can make it home. Thank you again for showing up. The ghosts are in the house.
Is it not ironic that since bettman took over the only canadian team he handed the cup to was the 93 habs. After watching this display of refing there has got to be a memo from head office under no circumstances does a canadian team make it to the cup finals. According to Mr. Bettman its not goalie interference if you push the goalie in the net like last night with chi/van series
Sorry guys its not the reffing that is making us suck, they look tired, 8 shots, thats embarrassing. The refs arent blocking our shots. I know the first was awful on the refs, but not the 2nd. This teams needs something to spark them, maybe a fight. Guys on Versus think there is only one team playing
I’ve never bothered with the conspiracy theories on reffing, til tonight. I wonder if there’s a cut-off point? You know, if the team with the marketable star gets x number of goals up, the refs are allowed to work honestly? You have to wonder about the mechanics of it all, and how it’s organized. Because gang, it’s looking organized. This league is looking very corrupt.
If it could happen in European soccer and in the NBA, it can happen in the NHL.
The way our Habs have handle this game… it epitomizes class. There have been VERY few cases of us whining to the refs. BOONE, HICKEY, STUBS… take notice of this and let the people know, the Habs worked hard in a game where most of us would have lost our cool and given up.
I gotta say this. I lived in Toronto when he started calling Leaf games and I always enjoyed his voice and his involvement in the play by play. Sure he has lost a step or two but that voice is still wonderful. Tonight I don’t think I have ever heard him this excited calling a game, even calling a Leaf game. The last 3 minutes he sounded like he was going to have a heart attack. Good game Bob.
One thing is CLEAR. Bob Gainey is a GENIUS. He and PG brought in a bunch of guys who made the playoffs, are tied with the current Stanley Cup Champs, and beat the #1 team in the regular season. Did this without key players for almost the entire season, AND are currently missing their two best defensemen.
Bash away if you want. But we are competing again, and its only going to get better once we get rid of our crybaby, and bring up our new favorite full time…
GO HABS GO. 6 down, 10 to go…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
My brother and I were comped two tickets in the AC Centre Press Box a couple of years back to see a Habs-Loafs game. The NHL bigwigs and ex-players were not only unfriendly, but rude. Two exceptions – Nick Kypreos and Glenn Healy – both friendly and kind to a fault.
Show me where I bitched about the team during these playoffs. Oh can’t? Yeah figured. You and your three amigos are complete trash posters. Zero worth to anything you say.
Remember when you were a kid, on the playground playing touch football, softball, whatever, and you cheated or someone on your team cheated, and you won. You just didn’t feel good. You knew deep down it wasn’t right, and sometimes when you lost and were cheating you were kinda relieved. I suspect that is how the Pens feel right now. They know the fix was in on this one, they tried, yes, but deep down they know it wasn’t right.
He does lose his balance a ton, I’m wondering if it’s because he reaches too much, trying to make plays, but he’s trying too hard. He puts himself off balance.
Coach can’t set up an offensive drive when we’re down, a familiar script from the regular season. Reffing is still crap, but we are getting away with some stuff now and this low-shooting crap isn’t working anymore.
The difference is the MTL players don’t immediately skate to a ref and begin to cry about the injustices of life. Some times i think they do it just so he shuts up. Like my dad always says, ‘the squeeky wheel gets the oil’.
Gauthier could ship AK46 at the draft, maybe get a 4th or 5th rounder. It’d be worth that and let someone who wants to play get his spot. It’s not fair to Gomez or Gionta. If they can get a guy who loves to play, such as a Moen, Pyatt, Metro, or another like Gionta, they’ve got it made.
What an effort by the Habbies. Very unfortunate to have to watch with such blatant bias reffing, and I mean F-ing reffing.
My father stopped watching “the greatest game on earth” about 15 years ago because of exactly what we are witnessing tonight, now I have a son and I have decided that I am going to follow his path and say “no thank you” to this crap…My son and I will now enjoy junior hockey and hope some day “our” game at the highest professional levels will worth watching again.
For what it is worth, thank you Canadiens for some great hockey…Go Habs Go
I also thought that Gionta’s ‘no comment’ spoke VOLUMES. He obviously agrees with the rest of us…
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
We have seen enough MOTIVATION tonight to make sure we tie it up. If we can’t get over this, we are done like dinner. ONE PERIOD LEFT IN THIS SEASON. 20 minutes till its over for us. We are only down by ONE bullsh*t goal. We gotta stick it to them. This is our TRUE test of character.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
CBC just showed a 10 clip montage of penalties against us that weren’t called, but yeah, don’t get upset about the refs. That’s whiny. Is the cave damp and dark, troll?
It’s very clear that the Penguins are a better hockey team than the Canadiens, they’re better offensively and they’re better defensively. However in that case they should be able to win WITHOUT getting away with murder constantly on the ice, and preferential treatment for their players.
First, I can’t believe the lousy job the refs did tonight. The worst.
Second, I’ve said it before on this board, the problem with the Habs lately was that the team had no heart. Especially last year. Well, no more. If tonight wasn’t a testament to heart and guts I don’t know what was. The chemistry is finally kicking in. The team could have folded their tents and given up but they didn’t.
Some of this has to be credited to coaching. I know there are a lot of Martin naysayers on this board but he’s got to be doing something right. And let’s not forget his assistants.
Finally, forget the Kostitsyns. They’re typical of the ‘no heart’ type of players we got to get rid of. Give me Halak, give me PK Subban, give me Dominick Moore, give me Gionta, give me Gill, give me Gorges, give me Gomez. These guys are playing unbelievable hockey.
The Pens tonight were pretty bloody good, but not good enough. Washington should take a lesson out of this series … team play beats a bunch of selfish stars.
It’s funny. This has going on for quite a while almost progressively worse eah year but this year too blatan against the Habs. We’ve seen the Habs get the worse reffingall season culminating in fiascos like this game.
All I know is that when Don Cherry is picking up for the habs, somethings up. Anyway, good for the guys for not loosing their composer and fighting back. Couple guys I though stood out:
Halak- awesome…again. Eat it Sid, you got robbed again!
Georges- saved a few goals…again.
Laps- My god, were have you been all season! actually I don’t care just stick around.
Cam- looking like a true star more and more every game.
Everyone here in Philly is watching AND ROOTING FOR! Montreal… regardless of what they put on the ice, this town loves an underdog, and a hard-working one at that. They loved that we downed the Capitals, are are puliing for us now that their team ran into Rask and the Bruins.
THE POINT: The Canadiens are making fans with this run; dare I say, EXPANDING THE MARKET.
Ok. The Pens are seriously outplaying us, but they haven’t scored on the second yet. Therefore, we can still play against this team. Then, the Pens are outplaying us because they got the lead, which was not supposed to happen because of all those missed calls on Subban, Hammer, etc…they are pumped right now, and we look confused after thos 2 penalties. This is sick.
Just got home put on canadiens exress the gill slash was the most delayed penalty ever it was like 5 sec after the play Crosby says something to the ref and the arm goes up
I have long since maintained all Habs fans should have a defib installed …
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
I agree, the reffing is bad but that is to be expected. The reason the Habs are losing is of their own making. Does JM realize the team is BEHIND? Protecting a one goal deficit does not work.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
lol, well said by him, Darche was huge. Thats the kind of player you need, someone who can sit down, play 0:00 and not complain, then come back and give you a solid game, not to mention his excellent forecheck caused the big goal by Max.
I have been watching the Habs in the playoffs since the 1960′s, and that was the single worst refereed NHL playoff game I’ve even seen. The crowd covering the ice in debris was a genuine turning point — it gave the Habs penalty killers a breather AND it put a little fear into the zebras. I have never been a conspiracy theorist when it comes to officiating, but it’s hard to watch that disgraceful display and not think about it.
Any play that creates an advantage or scoring chance for the Penguins is OK. Like tripping a Montreal Dman skating in his own end.
Any Play that negates a Montreal advangage or scoring chance is OK. Such as hookin, hodling, holding the stick of any and all Montreal plays in their offensive or defensive zones.
Any play that negates a Pittsburgh advantage or make Crosby’s eyes well up with tears is not OK… Like: 2 minutes for scowling at the chosen one.
Let’s also be honest that the Habs are playing hesitant hockey and are scared to cause any “contraversial plays”. They can’t truly go at the intensity they want because the Refs ability to do their jobs is deplorable. If a player falls, goes down easy..etc… the Habs will be going to the box.
They could play better. But blame the Refs for ruining what could have been a really awesome hockey game.
The Trap JM is running requires everyone get back quickly to the neutral zone so it seems no one can take a chance…OB pinches in and then doesn’t make a play with the puck…everyone is sprung load to get out of the zone…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
No shots because we can’t win an offensive zone face-off, and we have a pathetic dump-in. The only pressure we get (and it ain’t much) is off the Moore/Moen forecheck. We can’t win games without puck possession.
Very Roy-esque goaltending …. says my dad, who should know.
And how AWESOME was it that CBC, and DON F CHERRY, were on OUR side, for a effin change? Could hardly believe it.
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
Refs aside, it’s beginning to show we just ain’t got the horses. Out-checked, out-skated, out-muscled, out-shot. This series is a measuring stick, and I fear we are coming up a little “short”. Can’t blame the boys. They’re hanging in there and doing what they can, but, Mssrs. Molson, hope you’re paying attention. We have some distance to go to compete with the elite teams.
Its been so long since i have not seen the passive/resistance hockey played by the habs..i would so like the Habs to dominate the games for long stretchs against teams we play….
I give Lapierre a rough ride often but I have to say he played an excellent game (and not just because of the goal) and if he only would play this way more often and keep his mouth closed more often he would be a great part of this team.
What the hell was Hamrlik doing on the first goal?? If P.K is pinching and no one else is back and their are two Pens right at the blueline where do you think Hamrlik should be heading? If you said he should stand still on the blue line then you should not play D for the habs either.
I have been a silent hater of Sid for 2 years now. I have been silent because it is more often then not taken as either jelousy or sour grapes when you bitch about one of the best players in the game. I used to complain about Mario and everyone said I was just sulking because he did not play for the Habs. Sid is a worse baby then Mario ever was. Sid the Kid may sound like a fitting nick name for this guy but he has a few years of growing up yet before he is a kid.
When you have Don Cherry complaining about one sided reffing against the Habs you can pretty much be sure that there is one sided reffing against the Habs
When Gill slashed and broke Crosbys stick he threw his hands up in the air and pouted until the ref called it a penalty. When Kostitsyn was rushing in and blew by Crosby like he was the face off dot Crosby slashed the stick out of his hands and went on a counter rush. Kostitsyn never whined or complained about it. We can say what we want about A.K and his frustrating play but that right there is why he still has a better attitude then the golden boy Sid.
could we also get rid of JM please? I can’t believe that jerk says absolutely NOTHING when his team is getting sandbagged. what’s the matter with that guy? he’s afraid of his own shadow!
I dont know whats worse, The habs offense or the incesant whining about the reffing. Please, yes it was bad in the first but who do you blame for a 3 shot 2nd, with a shotless PP. Im pissed to but enough with the reffing already, This teams trails by one goal, their in this game sort of.
I have said it once, I will say it again. THERE IS NO MEAN ON THIS TEAM!!!! Hit someone, knock em out. Geez….
Officiating bites, but hey it happens. Lets get some shots on net. get in to their house. and would somebody hit Crosby in a way that he has a legit complaint. Like a smack in the head or something.
Man, I’ve neve been so pissed and happy at the same time. I know I should just enjoy the win but damn somethings gotta be done with these refs!! This should have been 3-0 game for the habs!!
Besides the obvious — hat-trick in Game 2 vs. Wash — AK46 has been a HORSE. He’s the only forward that lays on the BIG body and has been a brilliant forechecker and back-checker. He’s the only top six guy that can keep the puck in with size and power and has been. One bad game this run: Game 3 in Wash. So close to goals the last two nights.
They are going to need a big effort in the 3rd to win. The boys seem scared, playing with something to lose, and perhaps a monkey on their backs (refs?). Gotta play with reckless abandon and purpose like they did in the Washington series.
It’s not the curse of the Bell Centre. More like the curse of the referees. Worst missed call? The holding on AK46. The Habs can’t catch a break from the refs. It’s nauseating. The pressure is on for the league to deliver a Pens-Bruin series. That sucks if you are a Hab or Habs fan.
I just walked in & turn on the set,& I get to see a penalty called with less than second left. Have the Zebras been doing their usual job favoring the Pens ? I just heard Cherry say something to that effect. It sounds like the Count has issued a directive ( unoffical of course) to penalize everything Canadian ( Canucks & Canadiens) This is absolute BS
The ref never saw anything except Crosby whining about his stick looking at the ref. Then the ref calls it about two seconds after the fact.
I swear this is the most one-sided officiating I have ever seen in 30 years of watching hockey. Clearly the refs were told to make sure the Pens win this game.
I am sick! Canada’s hero, whinny little bitch! The refs just wait for his cue. If the Habs are so brutal, why do the power houses need the league to make sure they get by the Habs. Just sick!
It’s a superstar league. If you don’t have a bona fide superstar, then you will not get the benefit of the doubt. That was by far one of the worst refereed periods in an NHL playoff game I have ever seen.
For chrissakes, EVEN DON CHERRY thinks the Habs are shortchanged.
What a joke. If the fans start littering the ice, I COMPLETELY understand why.
- Pens first goal: PK Subban tackled at the blue line.
- Pens 2nd goal: Hal Gill in box for less than what the Pens did to Subban. Hamrlik taken down, no call. Oh yeah, and the goal was scored when the puck was kicked in (the first touch off his skate was a deflection but the second motion, Kunitz dragged his foot along the ice towards the net)
- AK46 taken out by what Benoit Brunet even referred to as a clothesline.
- End of period: no call for about 5 seconds after Gill broke Crosby’s stick. The ref obviously didn’t see it and only called it after he saw The Baby whining.
WOW. JM and the staff need to get on the phone and yell at the league cause this was even more ridiculous than even the last screwjob.
Boone no offesne but your summary of the first period sucked.
Let me try:
MTL gets a lucky goal from Pyatt.
Devorski skates up to Furlatt and whispers into his ear: “Do we really want to listen to an hour long monologue from Crosby and Bylsma about thier feelings?”
Furlatt: “Of course not!”
and so ended the hockey game.
Subban has his leg held by Fedentok springing Malkin and Talbot on a 2 – 0 and now it’s 1 -1.
Gill gets a very chintzy penalty, Crosby takes out Hamrlik’s legs and Kunitz kicks in the puck making it 2-1
Blatant holds and high hits (eaton on ak46) are allowed by the pens.
Crosby has his twig broken by Gill, and the refs missed it. Crosby turned around to the refs and the ref thought: “oh shit, better give him the penalty, i don’t want to wipe away his tears”.
and MTL starts the second period a man down
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
League wants pens through to help promote hockey in US. The sad thing is that the habs are making equilization payments to NHL to support the US teams….and they getting screwed because of it.
Are the Canadian owners watching these games??
You would think they would have the ability to ensure refs are not bias?
As a fan I don’t see the point in watching when the bias is so obvious…Pens and refs might be to big a hill for our habs to climb.
I’ve been saying this for years. Canadian Hockey League. Your six canadian NHL franchises leave the NHL to join the CHL, new teams are created across Canada. CHL vs NHL in the finals for the Stanley Cup. Ratings in the US and Canada thru the roof. Bettman will be known for the demise of the NHL. Priceless!……no pun against Carey.
I don’t like to say what you just said but I do feel that way. The league wants that marque match up and Vancouver aand Montreal will not be allowed to mess up the best laid plans of those coniving bastards! Just look how Luongo is getting battered around.
6 Canadian teams accounted for 35% of league revenues. There should be a strike from the 6 Canadian teams. They need to pull themselves out of the NHL unless they are given the clout that their financial strength should give them. There are too many American based teams that are losing money, giving away tickets, and constantly drafting the best players. This bleeding has to stop. I am disgusted. Don Cherry came close to saying what’s going on. It’s so blatant I am sick. This league is corrupt.
Now you know the major reason why I advocate the tank. Fight fire with fire.
If not a strike then the 6 Canadian teams should conspire together. All 6 teams tank and just draft all the good players. Then ONLY trade amongst themselves. The league is fixed. The reffing is corrupt. This should be investigated. It’s so blatant.
i’ve counted 3 missed calls so far.cindy for tripping hammer, pouliet bieng held and thrown down, and pk being interferred with. this is just crap. cindy and his landlord/lover must have paid a lot for this game. family has left the house….animals too. time for a beer to calm down
even don cherry questioned the call on ak46 and the crosby trip on hamrlik that led to the kunitz goal. you know something is up when that happens. christ.
Dumbest comment of the day is tonight is a “must win” – no sh_t! – but it’s never been truer and still may not be enough. At worst, the odds of coming back again from 3-1 are about as even as the “controversy” will never again be spoken. Even at 2-2 another miracle would have to happen. But in game 3 we almost had ‘em where we wanted ‘em. Who’s knows what would have happened if Habs had scored on 2 or 3 of their chances in the 1st in game 3 or if MAF didn’t make a couple of redonkulous saves later in the 3rd but if we had gone up 2 games to 1 I think the PENS would have needed a Master Shrink to comeback and win the series. So close yet so far. The rest of the series begins tonight but if Habs lose look to game 3 and their inability to score that cost the series. I just hope we go down swinging all the way until the end and maybe take a Pen or 2 with us.
I know we all hate the Bruins here, but looking at the list of GMs nominated for the inaugural GM of the year award, does anyone else think it’s an absolute farce that Chiarelli wasn’t nominated? The guy stole two lottery picks from Toronto for a player he DIDN’T WANT TO SIGN, his team made the playoffs despite almost as many injuries as the Habs, and he’s signed Savard to a great looking contract. He was an idiot last year for signing Tim Thomas long term, but that was last year. No one has done a better job as a GM this year than Chiarelli.
Did BG get any consideration? He did a hell of a job putting this group together. Despite the obvious pessimism on this site, his team making the playoffs, the 2nd round, defeating the presidents trophy winner, and even being competitive against Pittsburgh, with all those signings in the off-season, should at least make him a candidate. Not that many trades during the season, but that goes for all the GM’s really.
I understand that there are some cons to his plan, such as the Gomez contract, up against the cap for a while, and an extreme gamble by putting a virtually new time on the ice. But let’s be honest, with this many new players signed, how can he not be considered? His signings: Gill, Gionta, Cammy, and Moen have been great in the playoffs, and for the most part, all year.
I think he did a good job, but i think their play-off success is as much the luck of the draw as anything. Burke should get blame more than chiarelli should get credit for that bone-head kessel trade. Let’s be honest. Satan was a last ditch effort for offense that luckily worked out. Signing recchi was a good move too.
I would put him top 5, and we could argue that he belongs ahead of macphee. (oh, add knuble and some other toughness. god, I could have done that)
I think maloney is the only real choice for a winner though, just based on the dysfunctional nature of the team.
His team despite injuries at least as severe as what the Habs suffered made the playoffs and will go to the conference finals. In the summer his club will have a TOP TWO pick.
I think that is a job worthy of commendation. Sour grapes much?
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Sure hope we identify all the pieces that need to be removed from this team by the end of this season, and get rid of them once and for all.
The to old, the bandaid players, the uncoachables. We must stop this nonsence of every year having cancers in the room, the GMs office and behind the bench waiting for there turn at the revolving door.
Locker room poison is one thing Ian, I am sick of having hard-to-coach players and enigmas being called cancers, it’s ridiculously dramatic and gives these guys far too much credit that they could possibly be that damaging to a hockey club of professionals.
You dump the Kostitsyns, we cut away at our youth core and acquire little in return, while other teams walk off with them while we hold weak prospects or low draft picks. Boucher thought Sergei was coachable, Andrei’s had two 20-goal seasons and despite all the coach’s efforts to the contrary, is not a power forward he’s a sniper who is told not to do his job.
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
I’m not too bummed. I still think we can win this one. We just played the kind of 1st period that the Pens played last game. Plus, the refs clearly are colour-blind. They can only see red jerseys.
WOW THE CORSBY STICK! AND HE STANDS THERE WITH HIS ARMS UP LIKE A BABY! MOST ANNOYING PLAYER TO WATCH IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS! YEAH, YEAH, HE’S GOOD, BUT HE’S SUCH A F-ING BABY!
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
Seriously, this is the worst officiated series I’ve seen in my life.. maybe there were worse when I was a kid, but in my adult life this is by far the worst! Such BS calls………….. SIGH.
this is brutal to watch. two goals on bad or missed calls and not antoerh one that Crosby called.
brutal
No way for Mtl. to beat the stanley cup champs with this level of bias against them. Its very discouraging. I’m tempted to turn off the TV. Even don agrees.
To this day, I always think that the Rocket punching a referee should have been the statue we erected at Centennial Plaza, would’ve perfectly captured the city’s feelings about the NHL’s bush league officiating.
Total garbage refs. Total incompetence. Unbelievable. Shameful. Embarassing. This league is worse than any minor league organization. Crap. Pitiful. Unreal.
i cant beleive im watching cbc, the play by play douche is such a moron.he almost ripped aks head off! wow.. just wow.. i just lost the respect i had for this pitts team! fu** this team.. if they beat us i hope the bruins break all their legs
CBC has lost it “Penguins found that other gear they have that Montreal doesn’t”
You mean the one that lets the referees have selective vision? What a bunch of dime store hacks, I hope CTV finally manages to pry the Prime playoff coverage from CBC in the next TV deal, just to force CBC to try and get better.
I know where you are coming from. However, If he loses his cool, it will create panic on the bench. He’s a rock with his emotions, and he expects his team to be. And they have responded and not let it slow them down. If he loses his cool, what good will that do for his team? It’s no garauntee that the refs will listen either way.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that
was metropolit born in belarussia??
here is a list of the NHL players born in the great country of belarussia.
Actually you’re full of sh*t. What constitutes being a “true” NHLer? You don’t get to decide that. Both Kostitsyns and Grabovski, who you forgot, are NHL players.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
Woh!! I’m full of what??
by “true” nhl’er I meant has had a long and established NHL career.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
Yah, that’s it, Gainey is busy responding to ignorant Americans from LA who only have something negative to say.
Seriously dude, you gotta grow up and get with the program. You’re the biggest Sergei going on this site. Despite what you think, management and coaching isn’t a problem.
He wouldn’t have gotten a nomination for sure, because the NHL has a bit of a hard on for franchises in the USA improving drastically. Otherwise you would think Ken Holland would get an obligatory nomination for his work the last decade or more.
I think when you see the blow-up job he did, and the players he tried to get and couldn’t (lecavalier) I think his mix of skill and experience and team guys was quite good. Only he knows what the issues were in the team last year, or he wouldn’t have imploded the whole core.
Also, we act like he can just go out and trade or sign whomever he wants. We don’t know what his A plan was, or even if this team was his plan C. It involves a lot of luck too.
He should sign people before the end of the year, and also, a little more size up front would have been nice, but really, let’s give him a break!
Ok, I guess JM is a bad coach and BG is a bad GM. That’s evidence by where the Habs are right now. Maybe Brian Burke knows better… or maybe, after all this time, we should have hired Richard Gere.
Really Mr.Boone and the rest of the press. You guys are like a pack of bloodthirsty hyenas.
“And Miro Satan – signed in January to a prorated contract that pays
him $350,00, or 10 per cent of what AK46 is making – has five goals in
the playoffs.”
AK has 3 goals and 3 assists in 10 games and is a minus 2. OMG….TERRIBLE! Your golden boy Pouliot who is beyond critical assessment has 0 goals and 2 assists in 10 games and is a minus 2. OMG…..BRILLIANT! What a player, what tenacity and skill. PLEASE!
A little less yellow journalism and a little more objectivity.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
If anything, lay off of AK. I pray that the players in Montreal are instructed to stay clear of articles written about this team. But I suppose, being a hockey player is a lot like being a politician. ”What have you done for me lately?”
Ouch, how dare you. I like you have had a problem with that as well, This blog is not journalism, its a fans opinion, even though the author is a Journalist, You are right though, Pouliot get more passes than Jerry rice did from Joe Montana
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
I’m quite sure Boone is simply pointing out that the bruins are getting a good deal on their money spent on Satan.
that Satan, as compared to A.K, appears to be a bargain.
HMMMM Pouliot at 800k and AK at 3.25million…… I think we all know AK can do better. At least Pouliot has shown he wants to do well. Oh wait its cause he’s French……WHAT CRAP.
AK is .52 points per game at 3.25 million
Pouliot is at .53 points a game at 800k.
Do you even know what objectivity is??????
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Well any good GM needs some luck. Maloney could also be called a failure since he completely gave up on the youth of the Coyotes and went out and brought in a ton of vets instead.
valid point. Was stempniak that much of a diamond in the rough, or just a lucky move? I guess he will likely get it not so much for his work, but under the conditions he did it in. Might not be fair, but how many vezinas did Brodeur win or get nominated for that he didn’t really deserve??
I guess the playoffs don’t count, just like the Jack Adams. But that raises the question, why shouldn’t they? Why not just delay voting until the playoffs are over? Evaluate deserving people once all information is gathered. That makes sense to me.
Lots of interest in Guy Boucher according to Elliot Friedman….. NNNOOOOO I really want him to stay with the Habs organization. Even though JM lucked out and his goalie carried him to the second round I want Guy Boucher….
Exactly…lol Leave the dude alone and let him do what he does best in peace. It is maddening how some players are constantly under the microscope and others go scott free by the press.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Let’s save all the criticism for after we get put out or win the Cup!! We are in a huge game tonight that puts us right back in the series!!! We can judge players, management, coaches etc after we pound the penguins, but for right now, it’s like righting a scathing review of a book when you’re only half way through!!!
I can’t beleive they called that BS holding on Gill, but Eaton get beat to the outside and no pulls down AK46 BY THE HEAD and no call.
Where was the call on Crosby for breaking his stick on the back of Gorges’ head? Where was the tripping call on Subban? Where was the call for the trip on Hammer?
Refs are really putting their stamp in this game in a bad way. The really awful ting is that each call/non-call has impacted the game.
Did you read my comment? I said he SHOULD be nominated, and that he isn’t makes the entire thing a farce. As for injuries, no they weren’t “at least” as severe as you suggest, they lost fewer man-games to injury and FAR less salary lost to injury.
JM should hold them back for a good ten minutes. Force Buttman’s league to do something. If this shit continues, put Cindy the Sook out for the year. How will the ratings be then, Butthead?
Hope a few of the forwards beside Cammalleri find the net…the defensive game is tight but the Habs need to finish chances and go to the net in the first period…not wait until it is desparation time…
Want to see Plek show up and make a difference tonight…
GO HABS GO!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
I agree the reffing is terrible this game, but if that was one of our players getting their stick broken they would have the same reaction as crobsy on that one! That is why I hate those stupid sticks!
I predict the habs kill this one off, then in a couple minutes we get a PP and Cammy Scores!!
This isn’t about the miracle man from Belarus, it’s about his fan club.
I think he may just think that.
they changed the article from earlier
good one…
Darche must have been like Griswold on Christmas Vacation
Have a good shift, good shift, great shift, kiss my ass, kiss his ass…..
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Any news on Subban? Was he playing hurt last game as some on here suggested?
Yeah, forget SK, just dress Darche and give him 0:00 TOI.
So, is SK your new whipping boy or are you just adding him to your list of players you hate?
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Did the article say “yell”? Read it again.
did anyone read the article on TSN saying that Price yelled at Sergei for leaving the ice early at practice?
I don’t know about kool aid drinkers…
Where are the SK74 kool-aid drinkers this morning?
You know the mantra: “we can’t win without the miracle man from Belarus but Martin won’t pick him because he hates him.”
Thanks Chris….appreciate it.
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Thanks Rick!
Regarding SK74, I think I have the solution. We should consider trading him. Maybe for Backstrom or Malkin.
By mismanaging SK the coaching staff has thrown two players off the team. Andrei doesnt have the character to be a professional by himself and he relies on Sergei for alot off of the ice.
Both players will likely bolt for the KHL next year. We free up cap space but lose two assets that cant be replaced.
Terrible player management by JM.
I hope she gets well soon!
have you ever heard of personal responsibility? SK hasn’t!
BTW, I really like the piece you wrote on the topic the other day. I think you nailed it 100%.
Yep, it’s a rough game out there. Things happen.
Who were the other teams bidding for Martin’s services?
LMAO.
Gainey was short-sighted as usual.
Let’s let Boucher walk for nothing. Hell, we can always rehire Michel Therrien after all.
Gauthier won’t let Martin go, not after Martin has made Gauthier and Gainey’s train wreck of a team building exercise look semi competent.
My wife has the exact same thing right now and it’s really messing with her.
Don’t expect to see her out on the ice any time soon

“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden

I can live with JM as GM for a couple of years if it means Guy is our coach.
You never know where and when a slash to the injured foot may come from….accidently, of course
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Ah, nothing like debating against reasoned responses like this. Well played.
Sorry for having a different opinion from you. Must make me a terribly stupid fan.
No doubt about it… banished. JM hates SK and won’y play him again.
I would hate to see Boucher go. Is it likely they would replace Martin after his team has gone into at least the second round of the playoffs? If they manage to come back and beat the Penguins then his job here next season would be even more secured.
Who’s throwing in the towel?
Is that better or worse than Darche? He got to dress, but didn’t get a single shift. SK74 is so far down the line that he doesn’t even get THAT.
http://habsbros.blogspot.com/
I was just thinking the same thing today… they should definitely use Fix You it has a much better feel.
He’d be just like Yashin if he ever actually started to produce.
http://habsbros.blogspot.com/
I don’t believe Martin had much of a future as GM in Florida before Gainey signed him. His position there seemed tenuous.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
That makes more sense… I thought it was herpes.
http://habsbros.blogspot.com/
So the obvious question is: Does he play or is he still banished?
But you’re not an NHL coach are you?
Boucher already has a job in the Habs organization, who do you think pays his salary now?
No doubt.
Essentially you’re right. A player’s salary is paid out over the regular season. Player’s get paid bonus money for each round they advance in the playoffs. I couldn’t find a breakdown of how much though.
IMHO, this is absolute BS!
LOL . True that.
I’ll bet however that the Pens know about Metro’s injury and don’t hesistate to punish his shoulder.
Perhaps he simply does do what Martin asks him to?
Wasn’t SK on JM’s chit list right from the get-go? Wasn’t it him that JM blew a stack at during one of our practises?
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
It’s only news because it has something to do with the Habs.
We attract the paparazzi types like Lindsay Lohan does….
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Haha!! Yea
Thanks for the extra info.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
If that happens I will lose it, without a doubt, I will ****ing lose it, this would be like trading Subban and Markov this summer for Lecavalier.
You want Boucher to move up in his career, kick JM off the job before he ruins the team.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/

According to Team990 JM said SK74 is in the weight room.
No, it is based on days in the season. Believe it to be 196 days this season but don’t have time to confirm.
JM had a chat with him and he’s working out by himself in the gym. Per Arpon Basu on Twitter.
Except Hamr is on his last year, JM is just getting started on a longterm contract.

I wonder if the classiest player ever to adorn an NHL uni will say call the refs out!?! Now that would be amazing!
I’m shaking too lol! I can barely type!

UP YOURS BUTTMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ulf Samuelsson is in Sweden right now
OMFG!!! I can’t believe this!!!!!!! What a f’n emotional game UN-FREAKIN-REAL!!!!
2 offensive players are visible tonight.
cammy (as per usual) and AK46.. they are both trying very ahrd and bustin their balls out there.
but nobody else is visible.
not gomez, not gionta (sorry lil guy), not pouliot (what else is new), not moen, not lapierre, not moore.
pittsburg has done a very good job of neutralising MTL.

What are the chances JM realizes he has to take the handcuffs off and let the guys go? Same as that of SK getting an invite to a barbecue at JM’s this summer.

Ok I’m superstious but having Jean Beliveau make an appearance made me think I hope he brings the Habs some luck,,,,,,Tied with Pens…..love it.

well now since we’ve passedthe washington series, I think it’s safe to say that this period is now the absolute biggest of the season.
I’ll agree with that. Next by post by you though I’ll disagree.
Whew, thanks for turning down the volume.
Agree Steve. I hope the Habs aren’t whining like we are here. They have to go out and push the play, dig harder in the Pit corners and for heavens sake get someone in front of the net hassling MAF. He’s getting a free ride again.
THE FIX IS IN! …but the Habs didn’t get the memo!
These guys are heroes!
That was the first round.
Plekanec really seems to be taking the Sergei benching very hard.
Told you it wasn’t over after the 2nd
That is the way.
I heard Babcock yell at the beginning of the game “Release the Franzen”
SWEEEET!!!!
In your face, refs!
http://media.turku.fi/kamera1.html
I’m hoping we resign him. He’s been huge for us.
They are still in this game.
If the Habs get the next one, it will be different.
They need some more fire!
wow.. the pittsburg refs uhh penguins tried thier best.
we wanted it more and we took it from them.
great game guys…
even the CBC’s closeup was of all the non calls for the penguins.. what pathetic refereeing.. makes the KHL seem legit

Go Habs go bring home a 3-2 lead!
The NHL shouldn’t have anything like Matt Cooke.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Did anyone else just see that commercial on Mutton Bustin’????? WHAT. IN. THE. FU*K???
Great job by the boys! But man did this game leave a disgusting taste in my mouth. Absolutely the worst reffing I’ve seen.
but we had BGL!
Not even the refs could win this one for the Pens!!!!!!!! HOOOOORRAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
LOL HAHA!
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
You think?? LOL
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
wHEN dON cHERRY AND THE cbc SAY THE REFS WEREN’T MAKING CALL THERE IS SOMETHING UP
Looks like I finally pissed someone off at CBC. Jeff Marek basically told me I’m being self-righteous when stating that the CBC hates the Habs and they’re pissed because their beloved blue and white brigade missed the playoffs again.
- I Hab Faith
I agree that should have been called, but the Pens got 2 goals on blown calls so that would make the score 3-1 instead of 3-2.
Great to see Jean Beliveau being interviewed,..He’s a class with a capital ‘C’ act.
I found a TV at work w/Versus, caught the last 5 mins. Nearly died when Malkin went on a break. Excellent blog tonight Mr. Boone. You kept me in the game. All hail.
-Dustin-
P.S. I love hockey again.
News flash. This team has skills and HEART. Not size.
Oh wait, the heart is a news flash. The skill and size isn’t news. Yawn.
–
You’ll have to speak up – I’m wearing a towel.
Biggest goal of the season so far. Lapierre’s. That turned the game and maybe the series.
Thanks for bringing some class to the evening #4!
Pantywaist announcers on Versus. Biggest bunch of cheerleaders on TV.
Hope you guys didn’t have any Dow investments!
That’d be sort of a double-whammy today of being robbed.
See you back in Hell Cindy and Gina
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
I’m also scratching my head as to why Talbot got a star over Lapierre.
ya, what a monster he turned out to be…..

…tell Me PLEASE ! …WHO ???? …deserves the Hart Trophy more than Jaro Halak ?
Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY

Yup. Cause then it will be tied!!!!
It was……….
NEVER IN DOUBT!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Johan Franzen is the mule.
Andreas Engqvist will be the draft horse.
GO HABS GO!
Versus reports they took away one of Frazzens goals, now he has two more than our whole team after 5 periods
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
WOW! You have to think, with ALL the odds against them in this game, with Halak in net this team has the character to beat ANYONE.
6-0 Detroit
I’ll tell you what. There isn’t any other way that this year’s edition of the Habs would do it. They have been right on the edge all season, and in the first round, and now against the Champs. But they keep on finding a way to stay alive. If this isn’t inspirational, I’m not sure what is.
My observations about tonight:
- This team NEVER quits!
- We just may truly be a team of destiny!
Enjoy the ride. I know I am…
with you… that is what I’ve been saying
Strange that none of the goal scorers got a star. I thought for sure that Max would have been a shoe in… and Gionta played a great game, too.

Balls to the wall HFV. Only way we’ll win this one. No use sitting back and hoping for a Pens mistake.
When do you sleep?
LMAO!
Has winter returned out there Dustin?
Someone posted earlier…..HOCKEY WON!! OMG I’m exhausted!
Now that James Brown has gone to a better place. The Montreal Canadiens take over as the hardest working act in the business.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Holy hell, if you’re going to blindly throw the puck in front of the net, make sure that one of your teammates is there to receive it! The Pens don’t need any help creating turnovers!

HABS 3- REF’S ( BETTMAN) 2
anyone know what are cap room looks like for next year? i think pat marleau is a UFA…. 6.5 per
i think those steroids are starting to bind up those legs on the Pens
I agree. After the holding call on Gill they played pensively trying not to take the next penalty.
This is a team of destiny.
Guess they want to utterly shatter Nabokov.

To quote Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys….F you Penguins, F
you striped suit dummies(referee’s) F you NHL….series tied at
2….see you in Pitsburgh!!!!
Ya gotta see that reffing to believe it!
People say Pouliot is a great skater, for a great skater man he falls down a lot.
Goal!
You have got to be kidding me. How is that NOT a penalty?
LAPPYYYY!!!!!!
So the Pro-Crosby CBC *rolls eyes* was all over the refs in this one. I can’t believe our tax-dollars pay for such biased coverage *rolls eyes again*.
GRINDERS YES!!!!
Beautiful comment on CBC site
“Halak is Priceless”
YES!!!!! LAPIERRE!!!!!
LAPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Lappy! Amazing
I don’t like those new Pittsburgh uniforms. Stripes don’t look good on hockey unforms.
Just ahead of Tower of Power…recent concert…

Your move Refs!
Maxim Latendresse.
You know Gomez may not be scoring goals but he amazing on the PK and in our end give this man a raise.
Ar they going upstairs?
LOL
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Take that F&&&&&&&&&ERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prepare now for McLean’s patented defending of the refs.
YES!!!! EAT IT MISERABLE ****S!
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

HA,ha CBC is speechless lol! Looks good on ya!!
LAPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Speechless with admiration for this team. Pittsburgh may have a stacked lineup, but whenever I think the Habs are done, they dig down a little deeper and gut out a win. Reminds me of that movie Cinderella Man.
Thank You
Well said…

Lapierre!
We just survived and won a battle against crosby and the reffs…In your face freakin refs!
no kidding. i was soooo pissed all game. i failed to mention kostitsyns punch to the face.
great.. now we are going to have to kill a 5 -3

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
and I thought Sheridan, WY was an odd place for a Habs fan!! We have six inches of wet snow today. Still hockey weather.
That guy is a true leader and is making all the difference in this post season:
http://www.habsaddict.com/2010/05/canadiens-penguins-halak-lapierre-lead.html
So what happens next game? Can that Habs keep the ball rolling?

Lapierre does the Latendresse.
Actually no, Glen Healey showed all the non-calls on the Habs.
hahahahahaha
I was wearing my Habs Jersy for the first 2 periods… and I haven’t worn it yet for this series.
So I took it off during the 2nd intermission… and viola.
I won’t wear it until the next series (against Boston I guess)
Darche winning that battle was HUGE, took 2 pens out of the play
PK PK PK PK PK PK HE WAS PULL DOWN ON THAT FIRST GOAL BUT HE CAN SKATE AND MOVE THE PUCK OUT OF OUR END.
Laps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In honor of his homeboy Gui…WRAPAROUND!!!!!!!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
One call against them that may have resulted in a goal vs. 2 goals for them as the result of blown calls/non-calls. Yeah that is definatley something to complain about.
NOT DEAD YET!!!
I’m happy for Yappy!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I agree. HOCKEY WON!
Thank You God. I`m having trouble breathing, what a frustrating game.
If the Habs take anything away from this game, it`s CHARACTER.
Go Habs
Don’t forget the two missed tripping calls that led to their goals.
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
YES!
Honestly I was expecting the refs to make another BS call that would give them a 6 on 4 advantage. Glad that didn’t happen. Habs played with character tonight and did something that most teams could not do. Play a game against the former champs, and against the zebras and come out on top
GO HABS GO
Add to that when Cooke shot the puck into Halak’s net after the whistle when he got called for a penalty. should have been unsportsmanlike conduct… the problem with the call when Gill broke The Baby’s stick is not the penalty, it’s that the ref did not have his hand up at all and wasn’t looking at the play.
I don’t think the Pens are any cleaner than the Caps and Bettman is playing with the future of the NHL No way the NHL can handle what Baseball went through but Bettman doesn’t care he knows the a-holes on capital hill won’t call they don’t like hockey.
and the cry from Buttman’s office was heard around the world “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”

METROPOLIT, GLEN 6:08
DARCHE, MATHIEU 8:12
Everyone else played more than 10 minutes.
Sorry I said that Lappy sucked!
Jaro settled down and came up big after that first goal, but frankly, I’m surprised that Letang didn’t get the first star for scoring the game-winning goal.

PLEASE!
Watch the parade to the box start now though…
16/28 that’s how it’s goona be.
Glen Healy: “You don’t have to play like the Globe Trotters to get a goal”
Hehe… does that seem weird to anyone else?
I noticed that too. I almost felt embarassed for them
Anyone growing a playoff beard? Mine is starting to get pretty shaggy but I’ll be damned if I shave it now! I got fed up and trimed it the last few playoffs and we lost, so it can grow to my knee’s this year and I won’t touch it!
GO HABS GO!!!
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
Max has shown more these playoffs… he needs to play like this all year! Clutch!
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
WAY TO GO LAPS WHEN HE PLAYS LIKE THIS WOW WE NEEDED HIM.
Just to point out, we’d be up 2-0 with 2 more powerplays if the refs didn’t F us in the first.
Good for Darche,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Most annoying part of tonight’s CBC commentary. Glenn Healy suggesting that Gionta is a diver and he deserved the penalty for his hit on Orpik.
Suggesting that Brian Gionta is damaging the “integrity” of the game with a dive that only Healy saw?
Come on Glenn. Get real.
Gionta is a heart and soul guy. He’s not a diving gutless puke.
That was really annoying.
Deal. ;o))
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Cammy’s due
ok so now that the game is over.. anyone else find the Gionta boarding Bruce Orpik a little ridiculous lol.
the refs came up to Gionta right before that and told him he was embellishing when he was crosschecked in front of the net.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
NOW we’re one goal away from a W…! Here we go!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Crybaby Crosby’s going to wet the bed tonight worrying about the next game. Confidence must be shot all to hell now. Stanley Cup champs being defeated by an 8th place club.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
the list could be very long. just so i am not a hommer, hamrlik had a nice interference call that was missed that led to a goal
Hold onto that comment Nova… it’s a legit point.
Perfect!!! The only shots that count are the ones that go in and the only score that counts is at the end of the game.
Hab’s Romance, “Halak Get Stanley Back”. I want that song.
There’s some momentum swinging our way. I say, we Habs fans are very wishy-washy at times.
*rolls eyes* was my attempt to display sarcasm. Don Cherry was all over the refs too.
You know what makes the best player in the world even better? Knowing that if he whines, he gets the call. That is why he does it. It works and it helps his team.
Sweet Justice!!!!!!
Yeah, they knew for sure and just the look on Jaro`s face when it was over. God, I love this team, we should all be proud
We’re hanging in there HH. I know it won’t last but it’s soooo good while it does.
take that refs.
UP YOURS reffs, pittsburg.gary bettman cbc and all the habs haters
.::moen for captain::.
HOCKEY GODS!!!! This is what happens when you cheat.
Missed another win, I need to stay away i guess. I found a really staticy French station (AM 730) and though I don’t know French, I figured out it was a Habs win from the end of game noise. Well done boys!
that one’s for you
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Did I miss something? Heals was saying: throwing garbage on the ice is giving the top offensive line of the Pens a rest. Yes, we are also getting a rest, but his point is valid!?
What did I miss?
–
You’ll have to speak up – I’m wearing a towel.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
gio!!!!!!!
you said it big ted
Pour it on boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Wow. I was just reading the Penguins Blog and they`re saying Subban tried to buy a call when Fedotenko tripped him.
How blind are these people? It was so BLATANT!
Forget highlight reel goals this is better!!!!!
Why WOULD CBC say anything to piss Habs fans off at this point?
In terms of marketability, you want people to watch your channel, correct?
It is absolutely nonsensical to have a bias against the Habs.
I think they MIGHT be realizing that a little bit what with Toronto already on the 12th hole.
UGLY & Beautiful at the sametime…………………GO HABS GO
Halak looked shaky off the top but found his form and shut em down. Yahooooooooooo!
GIO for Captain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m guessing we’ll see Chris Lee for the next game.

What?!?!? The bounces are going our way!
It’s a Homer blog, what can you expect?

If Mike Green is nominated for the Norris, it’s only fair that Letang be too!
Bettman will throw everything he has at us next game.

nice, my jersey is no jersey. i wear one the lose.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Thanks Letang!!!
Win cool Hockey Canada stuff just by visiting Dennis Kane’s blog.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I hear helicopters downtown. Hope there’s no assholiness. We need to stop booing their anthem and stop throwing beer bottles after a win.
Yet another ginormous, gigantic goal by our tiny giant… GIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNTAAAA !!!!!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Cherry right twice tonight….JG for captain!
I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
wow, a call at this satge in our favor, unbelievable.
cherry is saying gorges for captain…. i dont agree often but i think hes right on with this one
Put em away!!!!
calm down, his salary is still absolutely ridiculous
PK Subban piece on CBC.
Two pretty LUCKY goals………
We gotta hold on. Because we cant say anything on the REFS now.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
OK, so no jersey for you!! ;o)
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Hey JM let’s not sit on this one…keep the hammer down
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
He’s been at every home game thus far. I love seeing him there though.
Yeah, we’d never do anything like that HERE.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I would never want Cooke on a team I cheer for. What an idiot.
I STILL can’t believe Laps didn’t get a star! haha!
He was one of if not THE main reason our team turned it around tonight. He hustled, hit, scored and killed precious seconds in the dying minutes.
If he can play like this all of the time, he can yap however much he wants in our uniform next year!
Yes, Moore played well. I was talking to the TV as he was working late in the 3rd. My wife thinks I’m crazy. She’s right.
well that was a interesting start
Him, Avery, and Kaleta. Embarassments to the game.
Gionta is incredibly strong for his size, otherwise he wouldn’t be an NHLer, they seem to forget that the small guys are there not only because of speed and skill, but superior physical power for their size as well.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Would love that guy on my team. Just like I loved Claude.
OK, I know the score, but I’m glad I DVR’d this one. Settling in with a beer for the opening faceoff.
when asked about the bad reffing brian gionta says “I’m not gonna comment on that”
lmao
Ahhhhh!! What a feeling!!!!
I’m still mad at the zebras tho, this is just not right. Guys, we can pplay against the Pens, I told you earlier.
Can we now say,….Ca Sent la Coupe!!!!!??
– YES HABS CAN!! –
We all appreciate your sacrifice! Keep it up
Avery would be a great pick up as well. Can we trade you for him?
Lol @ Gionta on the officiating “I’m not gonna comment on that”.
Um, Boone, we beat the Caps in Game 6.
Don’t you think he already did that this game? All he could possibly do as an encore is spot the Pens three goals before it even starts…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Beat me to it…so yeah Boone, WTF? LOL…
Although the point is well taken.

The officiating reminded me of a great sign: Are the refs pregnant, because they missed the last three periods (paraphrasing).
Don’t F with the ghosts of Canadiens past. One of the most satisfying wins in a few years.
Quite a ride. Tonight gave us the lowest lows and highest highs packed into a single fast-paced game. These guys are something else. Hell of an effort
So does anyone care about the Sergei right now? What are we going to talk about for the next two days?
I plan to!
I knew someone would be faster than me… At what? 7am in Québec! Kudos to you early commenting birds!
No story on tsn.ca???
Maybe you should drink up before you start watching. Just saying it gets anger-inducing real quick.
Thank you for acknowledging that! I said this way back when and I’ll say it again…Thank you Bob G.
Healy questions Gionta’s integrity.
Nice.
Hey Healy. Go blow your bag pipes, Idiot.
Classy response.
Stayed away from the Blue, too Leafs-esque in colouration for one thing, it’s the jersey that’s basically a Canadiens jersey but it’s got a CA crest on the chest rather than a CH and it has a CA on the left sleeve.
Only jersey i really liked from the throwbacks, got it for half-price before I had to move.

typical b.s.,that call happens shortley after letang is complaining to the refs.
Enjoy the ride.
That was the 2006 playoffs, in the conference quarter-finals…
So Gionta lays a big hit on a guy twice his size, and its boarding. Riiiiiight.
It’s not the overdog in the fight but the fight of the underdog. Hangin’ in is good.
Chuck said way earlier when it was still 2-1 Pens that a win tonight given the officiating would be sweet. Man was he right.
Rolling four lines helped. The Habs were able to come back strong (and get lucky) in the 3rd.
Same thing happened to Markov
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Goalie controversy? :0)
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
We’ll never know……
Still weeping over Habs kicking his no-talent ass in 93.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

It’s true.
It’s the best way to say you had an issue with it without saying it.
If it didn’t bother him, it would’ve been easy for him to say they did a good job.
Best response he could’ve given.
These guys remind me of some of the past teams. Not favorites, but with pride could surprise us all. ’71, ’73, ’86 and ’93 come to mind.
PK really wants that rush!
Never, ever, ever give up. This team simply amazes me. No quit, no whining, no unprofessional actions on the ice or behind the bench. Just pure heart. After such a miserable low in the first this is just beautiful.
Yes my wife is, but that may just be the ‘mentalpause’ thing
So dirty hits in the corner are only penalties if it’s a hab making the hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s
Man I wish the RCMP or FBI would investigate this obvious match fixing by the NHL. Like seriously.
PK is a revelation
correct me if im wrong, but we havent been 2 wins shy of the conf finals since……….93?
Ater an unexpected turn of events of us taking the lead, the b.s. calls return.
How the hell did Fleury miss that first one? We never get goals like that!
Please Bob Cole: step away from the booth gracefully, it is really getting embarrassing
Bottle or can? If you have a nice flat-screen tv, try not to throw the bottle.
Screw the Man and win this sucker!
This feels like ’86 to me big time.
Impossible to predict what the refs will and won’t call. Complete inconsistency.
You refs should be ashamed of yourselves. You are the biggest jokes in professional sports. How much money do you steal betting on hockey fixing games? Bunch of funkin @ssholes.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
GILL GETS CALLED FOR THAT ALL THE TIME.
Ridiculous non-call.
Well said. This teams play and class shows volumes of what it is to be a Montreal Canadien.
I had started one but shaved it once we were down 3-1. Then we won those three in a row…
I have since then not shaved but was thinking about it tonight hoping we would win another 3.
WAAAAAAAAAAy to late for that.
Subban sharp on the interview, probably the best defencemen of the 2007 draft class.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Boone, I think more appropriate title would be “Disgraceful!!”
These 2 clowns in Black and white should be reprimanded big time. However in the Bettman world, which needs at least one of Crosby or Ovechin in the next round, they’ll probably be rewarded with Saturday’s game!
how the Fuck are these refs serious right now?
If you’re coming here looking to shed a few tears about the Pens getting hosed by poor officiating, you’re in the wrong place, pal.

orpik holds up gomez, nothing. Then we get a tripping call? FFS!!!! Garbage being thrown on the ice, I FUKIN LOVE IT.
True. And I really don’t care how the rest of this series goes. Just like the Caps series this comeback is worth the months of pissing and moaning. No quit in this bunch.
Another 0 zone call…. didn’t see this one so I won’t bitch yet
71 and 73 teams were loaded with stars
I’ll steal from Boon and say it. Lapps is playing like his hair’s on fire.
LOL hahaha
No interference on the Talbot goal and they have the gaul to call Gill? Did Chris Lee get this assignment?
FFS GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
PK is amazing.
Is anyone keeping track of this stuff?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Fun Fact:
PK and Halak share the same birthday. May 13th. What a party it will be when we advance to the 3rd round!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
LOL. Total BS. WHat a load of crap. No holding call in the corner on Leopold, and then a retarded call like that? FIX!!!!!
I predict that within two years there are going to be more PK Subban jerseys sold to kids across this country than any other.
I had a composer once… then I realized to myself, what good is a composer when you have no compost!
Non-call leads to yet ANOTHER call in Pittsburgh’s favor.
These two bastards Furlatt and Devorski are real scumbags.
Worst playoff ref job ever…beyond blatant now!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Yup – Versus had to give some positive comments to Montreal – after all they won the game. Some nice comments about Gionta and not a peep about anything negative. Healy should take notes.
So true, so very true
Gill mystery falls down on his own??? Uh huh. Now another PIT PP…..un F’n real!
2002 against Carolina.
Habs up, refs get back in the game.
Bylsma looks like “WTF, we lost!?!?! What about our agreement, refs!”
So were the Black Hawks and on both occassions they were the favorites.
THE FIX IS ON
Choke on your whistles!!!!!!!! For god’s sake!!!! AAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Dan Bylsma just complained about officiating in tonight’s game. Are you ***ing kidding me Dan?
HOW IS THAT A PENALTY???
The exact same play wasnt called when Subban was tripped befor Pittsburgh first goal.
His attitude makes Crosby look like Sean Avery.
Wait, it gets better….

This is the worst jobbing in the history of the world!
Great interview with PK on CBC.
Good to see players who love the CH on their chest and know what it’s about to be a Hab
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
73 Habs only lost 10 games all year. That, at the time, was the record for fewest losses, breaking the mark of 13 that Boston had set in 71
THE FIX IS ON
Geoff Molson should ask since he spent 550 million to buy the Canadiens, what will it cost for him to get an interest in the NHL Officating assocation?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
He’s gotta blame them.
They didn’t win it for him.
Without any exaggeration, the worst reffed game I have ever seen.
I know but he’s a keeper. The deal is done, he’ll be paid that and there’s nothing to be done about it.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Refs.
Handed.
Them.
This.
Game.
What a classy organization. The brass band for the anthems. Mr. Jean Beliveau in attendance. Rising up against all adversity. We are the CHampions my friend.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Welcome back Ghosts of the Montreal Forum, it took you a while to get here.
I knew this would happen. Slew foot by Crosby on Gill…nothing. Hold on Gomez…nothing. Someting behind the play of no consequence…Montreal Penalty.
He did not look impressed when he answered.
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.
Alright, i’ll join in the the other 6-8 whiners. THAT was a BS call.
Well to be fair, when you buy referees and you still lose a game…

LMFAO
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
Man is Letang soft!
HOW can you call that when you don’t call Sidney on Hammer earlier
At least they can only put two of our guys in the box at a time. If the lead holds, they’d be tempted to put three or four. If I were a penguin, I’d be diving off icebergs like you wouldn’t believe.
Exactly. What an awesome looking kid.
At least the beer is going down well tonight.
CRAP REFFING,
BUT GREAT GAME. VERY HAPPY WE CAME BACK, WE GOTTA BE HAPPY ABOUT THAT. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, WE GOT HEART…. go habs go
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
People here complain about JM not ranting at the officials but it’s just not a good idea and certainly not professional.
Are you going to bark all day little doggy?
Or are you going to bite?
Sorry guys. I hate to say it but we’re completely outmatched. It’s starting to show.
More miracles? I hope so.
Where’s the call on Orpik
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Save it for plan “B” if we face another elimination game, LOL!
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
biggest assist of the game – the crowd. all those towels after the darche penalty allowed for a nice breather.
i haven’t watched the whole game yet (PVR), only caught the third live, but i said this last series and bears repeating here: i’d rather see guys take angry penalties then get shoved around or turn the other cheek. the ‘meltdown’ against washington in game three (gomez, gionta, misconducts, etc) showed passion and was a minor vctory. gionta ramming orkpik into the boards after taking all that abuse was all guts and F— You. Loved it.
last note – very happy to see darche out there, and for moore. darche has been all heart since he first came up and is the polar opposite of the kostitsyns/ribeiros/jokinens of the NHL. Moore is all effort, every shift. those kinds of guys (see also: McPhee, Mike; Skrudland, Brian; Draper, Chris) are the kinds that will do anything and everything, without any fuss or recognition, in order to win.
Good win, let’s get a couple more…
A period and a half and 8 shots, thats embarrassing, why do we suck on home ice.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I’m seriously gonna knock Glen Healy out if I ever meet him.
I swear to God.
Because Orpik misses decapitating Pleks it is no penalty.
Now Heals knockin’ the fans??? LOL what a pro!
I am still shaking and can’t believe that we beat the champs who were going for the knock-out punch tonight with the help of the refs (one of the worst games of officiating to date. Thank you ghosts of the forum for moving to the bell center and making things right. Go Habs! All the way. I am a believer.
Entertaining period but I’m too bloody pissed to enjoy it…feel like I just really got ripped off.
Well Healy mybe it gives our defence a rest too. Idiot!
This team is going to give me a coronary, I can’t take anymore games like this. What an effort in the third.
I guess Bettman will pull out the secret weapon on Saturday. Ladies and gentleman welcome Chris Lee.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
YES. Very nice indeed…Buscemi and Madsen. FITTING…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Cause our wind got completely stifled from our sails in the first when the refs decided they were gonna take over.
We’re slowly picking up the pace again.
Halak !!!
link? i tried finding it
You are correct to the fullest extent.
WOW!!! Do it to them Halak!
Just imagine if Chris Lee had been one of the refs.
WTF?! Where was the slash on Pleks? Didn’t cry enough?
How many times are they going to trip PK and get away with it?
The Powerplay of all Powerplays???
So, Bob Cole is awesome.
Martin getting out-coached. He puts out 4th liners and Bylsma gets Malkin and Crosby out.
Come on, throwing crap is what children do. Same with whining about the Refs.

The officiating in the Quebec-NY Rangers series of 1994 was much worse than this as unbelievable as it sounds, but this game last night ranks right up there.
When do the refs get sticks?
Chuck, I think that guy has been hosed to many time. What a fisherman.
*like* !!!
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Yep….can’t beat the boys with whistles.
Brutal officiating again. Halak comes up huge!!
WELL IT DIDN’T WORK!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
So 4 straight goals by Franzen in Detroit tonight. Let’s see that with our big guy Pouilot. He’s been as quiet if not quieter.
Clock is ticking very slow…
JM getting pissed finally at the refs…or as pissed as he gets
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
That’s ridiculous. I guess we’ll see if his mouthing off, and our silence has any impact on the quality of the reffing next game.
LOLZ!!!! I am enjoying reliving this game vicariously through TH’s posts.
What a clutch save!
ok what is up with pouliot?
not enough veggies, milk? what is it
that kid cannot stay up on his skates.. he just constantly falls all the time

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Somebody needs to give Malkin the ole snap-hook. He’s abusing us.
F U Refs!!!
Same here. Can’t enjoy this game at all.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
I had a bad feeling about that PP once the penalty was called, but boy was I wrong
This just isn’t happening without Markov and Spacek, regardless of the egregious officiating.
So is trolling. so leave.
I hate Bob Cole! he says:”habs got a way with one”. hey douchebag,, it’s the Pens who tripped a habs player!
Can we win this butt-ugly game in spite of it all?
YES WE CAN!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Thank you Rocket, Doug , Gumper and all the boys for finally coming to the Bell Centre . I know its not the Forum but with you all there now you can make it home. Thank you again for showing up. The ghosts are in the house.
Really. F U officiating set the tone for the game. Feel like even if we tie this, BS officiating will take us out.
JM was soooooooooooooooooooooo pissed….he actually had his hands on his hips!!!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Yeah, I was also amazed that I actually agreed with something Sour Grapes said.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
So is bitching out your own team on this board 24/7.
Get a life ya schmuck.
Thanks for this, Bob!
Cause he hates Crosby more than the Habs.
Hammr was huge on that kill.
Ooooh, baby!
That’s a very nice one too. I agree about the blue…but it’s still a sharp looking jersey. You keep sporting yours for the wins!
……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
The FIX! is on way to go bettman your refs are doing your dirty work. Question where is the Montreal media to call bettman out.
This said with PASSION!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
The FIX! is on way to go bettman your refs are doing your dirty work. Question where is the Montreal media to call bettman out.
The way our Habs have handle this game… it epitomizes class. There have been VERY few cases of us whining to the refs. BOONE, HICKEY, STUBS… take notice of this and let the people know, the Habs worked hard in a game where most of us would have lost our cool and given up.
Nice win …………Can’t wait tyo hear Crybaby spout off,lol
The Caps Lock is on the left side of your keyboard…. no, the other left.
Get back in your cave troll.
That is scary
I wonder what the Molsons think of the reffin? Team should go on strike. This is fixing, where is Pete rose?
LOL that pic is truly amazing.

Remember that this team is without Andrei Markov…think about that, and you can fully appreciate how big this win was…
So proud of my team
Please let the Passengers off. C’mon guys lets go here
Isn’t a broken stick resulting from an opponent’s slash illegal? As in, automatic penalty? Or am I missing something?
due to justin the butcher williams who carved saku, then markov the next game, part of bettmans tring to keep canadians teams from winning the cup
We brought a knife to a gun fight tonight…need a little OH-fence Habs
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
man if see thes reff clown on the road i would totally egg them
.::moen for captain::.
I disagree with it not being a good idea, it works all the time for Lindy Ruff, and it’s worked for Boudreau last series.
However I completely agree with you that it’s unprofessional. All those gripes should be handled with NHL officials behind closed doors.
Nobody on our team is even in CLOSE to the front of the net.
Sweet avatar!

“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Could be San Jose right now, getting beat 5-0.
It’s probably your bed time. Nighty night.
If I’m drowning I hope someone throws me an Andrei Kostitsyn. It’s a great floatation device.
God I want to see that little douchebag Cindy knocked out!!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
San Jose is kind of up in their series though.
And Spacek…

Halak has to stop trying to pass the puck. He turns it over every time.
Funnily sad..!
LOL

JM’s presser is on.
I wonder how much the refs bank accounts will increase tomorrow?
…it is very rare of Me to harp on refereeing …as I feel, eventually it all evens up
…but THIS game the refereeing is almost criminal
…IF We win this game it will be truely heroic
Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY

How much of the website ad revenue do you get for all these shameless plugs?

……….. “Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!” I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
I dislike that their grinders outplay our grinders so bad, thats where we have to win the game, when Crosby and Malkin are off the ice.
Listening to the vocal minority of blow hards in here, you’d think otherwise about guys like Healy and Kypreos. Just shows how little they know.
So do I get a HALAK or a SUBBAN jersey next year???

Of course I’m more mad at tomights reffing, but man it’s agravating watching bush league reffing.
Someone hammer the kid would be nice to see ,only if the games beyond reach…….but Really I’d prefer a big win by the Habs
Oh well a big 3rd would be very satisfying…
Thought so.
Haha, well said!
Except for that time he started the breakout that led to Pyatt’s goal in the first period.
Wow… You really never know with this team do you… It’s kinda scary.
He does lose his balance a ton, I’m wondering if it’s because he reaches too much, trying to make plays, but he’s trying too hard. He puts himself off balance.
3 shots on goal for the 2nd period. Forget it!
Jesus, my heart is going to rip out of my chest…..

Difference between the regular season and the playoffs? WE CAN HOLD A LEAD!!!!

Absolutely disgraceful refereeing tonight. Looks like Count Greedy Buttman and his lover Sindy will pull out all the stops to win.
A big F.U. from Halak and company. I love it!
Like watching those Geico Washington Capitals commercials…reminds me that at least we beat their @sses out of the post-season…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
so what should we offer halak next season?
Suck it up crumb-cakes. Damn it! Be a man Sidney!
Move into your own house for god’s sake!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Habs are getting outshot 2-1 this series.
I feel much better. How was it for you?
JM should have Sergei K work out alone more often, seems like it might be a good luck charm!
Their grinders are much better than ours. As were Washington’s. We have bad grinders. Lapierre? Come on….
Et Halak a le dernier mot!
Got to hand it to the boys for showing a lot of character. And Halak is magnifique!

It’s the stupidest call in the game, but yeah, it’s automatic, except against us.
maybe but it just seems like he falls from the simplest plays as well.
all i know is that he has got to wake up and start scoring

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Coach can’t set up an offensive drive when we’re down, a familiar script from the regular season. Reffing is still crap, but we are getting away with some stuff now and this low-shooting crap isn’t working anymore.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

The difference is the MTL players don’t immediately skate to a ref and begin to cry about the injustices of life. Some times i think they do it just so he shuts up. Like my dad always says, ‘the squeeky wheel gets the oil’.
I just thought he was a bad hockey player.
HNIC guys are idiots. Glenn Healy, weren’t you in goal for the Islanders in 93? Who did you lose to?
For what it is worth, thank you Canadiens for some great hockey…Go Habs Go
Shame on you Buttman and all your court jesters
I also thought that Gionta’s ‘no comment’ spoke VOLUMES. He obviously agrees with the rest of us…
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
can we stop with the lame ref excuse, we have 9 shots on goal
Ok now when the colour commentators have a hi-lite reel of NON CALLS then why noone on here is whineing, these refs are bad
JM made a funny, TEE HE HE
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Last time I was that pissed off, I was in the stands next to Vincent Damphousse when Chris Lee called of Gomez’s tying goal against the Penguins.
LOL! JM DOES have a sense of humour!
When in doubt… blame the coach?
MY HEART!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
I didn’t know he had said that. Awesome. Right on Jacques
guarantee a habs penalty with under 2 mins if we’re still ahead.
It’s very clear that the Penguins are a better hockey team than the Canadiens, they’re better offensively and they’re better defensively. However in that case they should be able to win WITHOUT getting away with murder constantly on the ice, and preferential treatment for their players.
UN-F’n real!!!
(8) SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS SHOTS SHOT,SHOT SHOT, SHOTS SHOTS,(8) – LMFAO
we need more of them
I guess they don’t call obstruction anymore
- I Hab Faith
JM – “and I hope you guys noticed darche tonight” Awesome
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
WTF how was that not interference.
Bob Gainey built a team here.
It has to be said. And we get to enjoy some damned good hockey because of that.
interference on moen FFS
What did he say?
Holy F no calls on pens
We need a little punch the guy in the face with your glove on, kick out his feet and go in alone.
GO HABS.
It’s funny. This has going on for quite a while almost progressively worse eah year but this year too blatan against the Habs. We’ve seen the Habs get the worse reffingall season culminating in fiascos like this game.
OFF-FISHY-HATING!!!!!!
2 minutes left to beat the pens, the refs and the clock!!!!
1st was about a$$-poor officiating. 2nd was about PIT being better than MTL.
Need some heart in the 3rd. Really missing Markov and Spacek tonight.
MTL is playing with fire the way their chasing PIT back into their own zone.
This is sick.
this said Go Habs Go!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Textbook interference…..ugh…..
Nice to hear the CBC give some love to the defense. Studs, all of them. Gill with 8 more blocks, O’Byrne with 7…

Just got home put on canadiens exress the gill slash was the most delayed penalty ever it was like 5 sec after the play Crosby says something to the ref and the arm goes up
Gorges is gassed during his Verses interview…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Malkin…my heart… gah… go halak!
…and Ruff and Boudreau are where tonight?
LOL…Ruff doesn’t show up the refs though. He yaps but he doesn’t embarass them. Boudreau does just by turning red and blue the way he does (hahahaha).
shorten the bench?
It’s US against the NHL and the world, bud!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”

yeah what’s up with that living with Mario crap. You have been in the league for five years now for Gods’ sake
Pouliot, AK46, Plekanec and Gomez could all start scoring soon… Please.
My thoughts exactly, what were the d-men defending?
….Hab4life….
Another minute playing in the Pens zone, that’s ALL I ask
Guys, we need more offense, plain and simple. 3 shots doesn’t cut it.
Both?
Bring the Cup home Boys! I Will Always Believe A man walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. “What’s that?” asks the bartender. “A White Russian, no ice, no cup.”
HA! I shave/trim for losses too!
He’s a hockey player?
You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
They out-reffed us. We outscored and out-goaltended them. Hockey won.
Our habs didn’t just beat the pens tonight, they beat the whole NHL.
lol, well said by him, Darche was huge. Thats the kind of player you need, someone who can sit down, play 0:00 and not complain, then come back and give you a solid game, not to mention his excellent forecheck caused the big goal by Max.
UM WE HAVE 9 Shots……….. NINE…. N I N E ….OK, NOT 8 but 9….. Wake up and watch this thing…..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I have been watching the Habs in the playoffs since the 1960′s, and that was the single worst refereed NHL playoff game I’ve even seen. The crowd covering the ice in debris was a genuine turning point — it gave the Habs penalty killers a breather AND it put a little fear into the zebras. I have never been a conspiracy theorist when it comes to officiating, but it’s hard to watch that disgraceful display and not think about it.
OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH BAAAAAAAAAABYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THE HABS ARE TWO SMALL TO WIN JUST ASK THE WASHINGTON CAPS.
IN YOUR FACE ASSHOLES!!!!!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
I had just about given up on Laps. Enough was enough, but My God he is winning me over of late. Coming into his own I hope.
I know what you mean; Vinnie pisses me off, too.

Forget the refs, we still have to score a few goals to pull this game out of the hat.
Here’s the truth. Gionta and Gomez aren’t producing offensively.
AK46 and Pleks aren’t producing offensively.
These guys are on our top “two lines”. Time to bring it.
Entire team just gave the refs a big middle finger.
Johan Franzen got his 4th goal and has 2 assists tonight so yeah, the Sharks are getting curb stomped by one angry Swede tonight.

So I think I’m starting to get it…
Any play that creates an advantage or scoring chance for the Penguins is OK.
UNreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
Momentum swings when you don’t get the obvious calls. Cherry’s even seeing them, which means something.
HALAK & THe HABS ……..Yea Baby inspite of the Zebras
WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
GO HABS GO BABYYY
They’re absolutely smothering us, we can’t do a friggin thing out there without a Penguin all over us…

Suck it you losers, Stanley Cup Cheats aren’t getting a win that easy, Hockey Gods delivered justice.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Let’s also be honest that the Habs are playing hesitant hockey and are scared to cause any “contraversial plays”. They can’t truly go at the intensity they want because the Refs ability to do their jobs is deplorable. If a player falls, goes down easy..etc… the Habs will be going to the box.
They could play better. But blame the Refs for ruining what could have been a really awesome hockey game.
Chuck my man you were so right. SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Trap JM is running requires everyone get back quickly to the neutral zone so it seems no one can take a chance…OB pinches in and then doesn’t make a play with the puck…everyone is sprung load to get out of the zone…
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
IN YOUR FACES!
You cheap tactics didn’t work tonight!

No shots because we can’t win an offensive zone face-off, and we have a pathetic dump-in. The only pressure we get (and it ain’t much) is off the Moore/Moen forecheck. We can’t win games without puck possession.
Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooleyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy CRAP! What a game. I LOVE this team!
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
There is the FU to Bettman, the refs and the NHL/
The two Pens goals were the direct result of the officiating though. Without that it is still 1-0 Habs.
Zero. Offer ends Friday. Don’t you like free stuff?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Agreed 100%. We’re obviously being outplayed, but it would be way easier to take without the BLATANT ***ing cheating.
Un F. believable, I get to see game 6!!! Come back up 3-2 guys!! You can do it!!
Fix you is 2-0 in the playoffs and City of Blinding Lights is 0-3, I think we know what to play when they start game 6
O’Byrne and Gill blocked 15 shots between them. I’d consider moving them up in your rankings.

Orgasmic.
I made a picture to represent last game: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7277/14091101501632872400755.jpg
Not whole NHL, whole fucking NHL.
Same question, “best hockey interview I’ve ever heard” is whats being said.
There is a word for what we just saw: justice.
Haha he was so pissed when it got called off. It was nice to see a player reacting like a fan. Made the rest of us seem sane.
Its been so long since i have not seen the passive/resistance hockey played by the habs..i would so like the Habs to dominate the games for long stretchs against teams we play….
Beautiful effort lads! They tried to steal it….
In the end, justice was served… this time.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
HABS ARE DONE! they have ZERO offence. no way of scoring a goal or even close to it.
during the offseason, keep Subban, Cammalleri and Gionta. the rest have to go!
Pouliot, AK bros, Pleks, Hamrlik, Lapierre, Spacek, Darche, Maxwell, – GONE!
I want all the floaters and lazy asses GONE!
could we also get rid of JM please? I can’t believe that jerk says absolutely NOTHING when his team is getting sandbagged. what’s the matter with that guy? he’s afraid of his own shadow!
A victory for justice. Karma.
Can’t let that comment go dude. AK was visible all night and made some big hits and plays in the offensive zone.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
I dont know whats worse, The habs offense or the incesant whining about the reffing. Please, yes it was bad in the first but who do you blame for a 3 shot 2nd, with a shotless PP. Im pissed to but enough with the reffing already, This teams trails by one goal, their in this game sort of.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Incroyable!
Just a quick question. When was the last time the Habs won two games in the conference semi-finals?
Dustin Byfuglien….6’4″ 257LBS!!!! Crashes the net and strikes fear in the opposition….we have NOTHING like that.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
IM SHAKING !!!!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Bust it out, Boys! The end is near….
Anybody saying Bob Cole hates the Habs etc… Didn’t sound like it there.
Go for Subbak…or Halan…I personally prefer Subbak but that is just me
———————————-
Fate leads the willing, and drags along the reluctant.
As Hab fans, sometimes we agree, and sometimes we disagree… but IS something we can all agree on… this was a special night.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FU REFS & NHL!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!
UNDERDOGS RULE!!!
I was thinking that too, and Lapierre had one of the best games of his career.
Really nice to see Gorges get that 2nd star, nobody more deserving
Their talking about how classy PK Subban is on the National News, absolutely amazing.
It’s not helping us not suck.
HABS 3 REFS 2!
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!
WAY TO OVERCOME ALL THE BULLSH*T BOYS!!!!!
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
Man, I’ve neve been so pissed and happy at the same time. I know I should just enjoy the win but damn somethings gotta be done with these refs!! This should have been 3-0 game for the habs!!
When the Habs win, It’s all love and this team is awesome, when we are losing, “FIRE JM” “THis Team sucks”.
Just calm down this game isnt over yet.
Hockey Gods making things right!!!!!
High Fives and a cold brew to all my fellow HIOers!!!!
“Save us Turtleneck Man…We need you now more than ever!”
just saying we need more than 9 shots if we are gonna win this thing
but we did have some good chances
btw, the (8) is a music emoticon on msn,…..unfortunately, it doesn’t show up in here
Talbot really snaked a star away from Lapierre.
The wrong Max got a star.
Can’t play any series with just 3 lines. Should have dressed Sergei just to take out Cindy’s teeth. At least use him as a sacrifice.
Well… Best of 3 now ain’t it
2002 against Carolina
- I Hab Faith
Besides the obvious — hat-trick in Game 2 vs. Wash — AK46 has been a HORSE. He’s the only forward that lays on the BIG body and has been a brilliant forechecker and back-checker. He’s the only top six guy that can keep the puck in with size and power and has been. One bad game this run: Game 3 in Wash. So close to goals the last two nights.
Where’s Plekanec been the last few games?
They are going to need a big effort in the 3rd to win. The boys seem scared, playing with something to lose, and perhaps a monkey on their backs (refs?). Gotta play with reckless abandon and purpose like they did in the Washington series.
I can’t believe we overcame that nonsense. Be proud of your team tonight.
And about the refs, what happens now? I really don’t want this to just get swept under the rug. Something has to be done.
Agree.
you sound like Bob Cole
Cindy starts crying, whistles start blowing. Bettman, take your new NHL and stick it up your arse.
Canadian teams should tell the NHL they’re forming a new league, give Balsillie a franchise and let Buttman try to make a living with that.
Subban was tackled at the blueline. Hamrlik was tripped. Two goals.
For once Cherry is calling out the refs in this one. He basicly say Habs are getting hosed. 3 non calls and crybaby calling the slash.
I’d like to hear what Boone’s Guru has to say, who laughs at people who suggest that we don’t get good refereeing.
Hey Boone why don’t you compare Satan’s salary to Gomez’s
THIS GAME IS FIXED! EVERYONE KNOWS IT! PITT GETS PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT!
I wish someone would slash Crosby so hard and injury the crybaby!
at least DON CHERRY agrees with us! those missed calls cost the habs 2 goals and Pitt’s goal was kicked in.
EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT’S GOING ON. IT’S SOOOOO OBVIOUS!
I hope any team but Pitt wins the cup. I curse those refs and their families.
Just sick!
….Hab4life….
You know the officiating is pathetic when Don Cherry agrees…Is Gary in the building again?
Better Comment of the day:
You know you suck as a referee when Don Cherry stands up for the Canadiens
Man, you have nooooooooooooo idea
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Very dissapointed with this.
Richard B
If Darche took out Crosby the league would rule that Gionta has to sit.
Nice,
could not have said it better!!
Smarten up Boone
Richard B
….Hab4life….
Goddamnit I am angry.
Okay, when a guy like Cherry, who rarely sides with Montreal, is pointing out the poor reffing, you know it’s bad.
Holy Crap!!! Cherry is calling out the refs!!!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Good work Don Cherry, for being legit about the reffing.
i’ve counted 3 missed calls so far.cindy for tripping hammer, pouliet bieng held and thrown down, and pk being interferred with. this is just crap. cindy and his landlord/lover must have paid a lot for this game. family has left the house….animals too. time for a beer to calm down
Bias is so obvious…and what was that call on Suban’s foot. Dude grabed his leg with his hand…and then a goal?
Don had 4 other examples without that one.
lol
Richard B

Pretty worked up right now. Worst officiated period I’ve seen in 33 years of watching hockey. And I’m not exaggerating.
The one that pisses me off the most is still the sliding tackle on PK at the point. It’s the one that opened the floodgates of stupidity.
even don cherry questioned the call on ak46 and the crosby trip on hamrlik that led to the kunitz goal. you know something is up when that happens.
His signings: Gill, Gionta, Cammy, and Moen have been great in the playoffs, and for the most part, all year.
how Mcphee was nominated is beyond me

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
This club is as volitile as the stock market.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Actually, the chant is F*** YOU BETTMAN and/or Crosby is a pussy.
No wonder I had a feeling that someone was watching.

Great idea! I should do the same with my friggin cat.
Can’t believe this tonight.
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Feels liuke watching the first Bush election.
More f***ing bogus bullshit!!!
WOW THE CORSBY STICK! AND HE STANDS THERE WITH HIS ARMS UP LIKE A BABY! MOST ANNOYING PLAYER TO WATCH IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS! YEAH, YEAH, HE’S GOOD, BUT HE’S SUCH A F-ING BABY!
Thats a late call…. guess they don’t respond well to booing.
I have never said this myself. Conspiracy, and there is no arguement against it now.
If anyone other player does what Sid just did, I bet they don’t get the call.
- I Hab Faith
Of course to stop Habs from coming out flying in the 2nd we have to start it a man short. Is this scripted??
Why bother? Just give them the series. Don’t bother even going to Buttman’s US of A. Just let them have the damn thing if there has to be cheating.
What’s the point in even playing the games when Pittsburgh is AWARDED leads.
this is getting bad ,
I’m going to walk the dog. This is too freakin’ frustrating to watch until I cool down. Garbage. Crap.
I hope the Montreal mob tears these officials apart after the game. I won’t feel one bit of sympathy for them. THEY SHOULD GET WHAT THEY DESERVE!!!
Crosby using a doctored cracked stick. Nice.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I’m impressed. You were able to put together a post without mentioning Jews, slashing faces, or killing people. All by yourself?
It is a good point, he did miss the call at first.
The chant is CRY-BABY! Not BOO! God, I should be there.
–
You’ll have to speak up – I’m wearing a towel.
Blatantly screwed on national television.
SIGH.
Bergeron needs to just tee up a slap shot and nail a ref in the face. Cave in his skull.
I won’t say that this is a fix…
BUT, I will say that the reffering is bush leage, second rate, and totally apears to be lop-sided.
According to the rules… this game should be 1-0 Habs, and the habs would have had 3 powerplays.
This better even out quickly in the rest of this game.
I wish I could apply for the job of Head Referee for the NHL.
Don’t even Bother playing …CROSBY WILL GET WHAT HE WANTS. So Unfair!!!!
So, Boone, do you agree that the reffing is pretty much b.s?
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
this is brutal to watch. two goals on bad or missed calls and not antoerh one that Crosby called.
brutal
No way for Mtl. to beat the stanley cup champs with this level of bias against them. Its very discouraging. I’m tempted to turn off the TV. Even don agrees.
Richard B
it’s baf enough that the refs only want Pitt to win, but so blatantly! can we put a contract out on these refs?
and why doesn’t JM open his mouth???? he drives me crazy.
PG better call the NHL office and bitch!
You know you suck as a referee when Don Cherry stands up for the Canadiens.
DONALD S CHERRY agrees with Habs fans, we’re obviously not seeing things.
They aren’t awarded the leads. They are just such an amazing team! I mean they have that “extra gear that Montreal doesn’t have”.
Haven’t you been listening to CBC crapentary?
I’m going down to Toronto and burning down CBC headquarters AND NHL headquarters while I’m at it.
This is the biggest god damn slap in the face Montreal’s seen in a long time.
In our own building FFS!!!
It woouldn’t change anything…What are the Refs gon’ do about Coach yelling….nada!!
– YES HABS CAN!! –
Not quite as bad as being booed by 21,273.

That looked like a perfectly legal hit, o well, boo away.
EATON FRIGGIN CLOTHESLINED HIM WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok now im out, had to see replay. this game is bullshit.
This is actually a really good game. I mean aside from that getting ****ed up the *ss part.
I wonder what it must feel like to be booed by 21000 people
- I Hab Faith
To this day, I always think that the Rocket punching a referee should have been the statue we erected at Centennial Plaza, would’ve perfectly captured the city’s feelings about the NHL’s bush league officiating.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

How is that not interference on AK46?
This league is a joke.
Why bother going the rest of the night?
Just have Molson phone up Bettman, concede the series and we’ll see you next year.
The officials are incompetent.
They should have a mob outside the arena to greet Furlatt and that other loser.
Make the police give them an escort to their hotel.
The obvious bias makes this a tough game to even watch. Why don’t the refs just call the game over and declare the Penguins the winners?
EATON FRIGGIN CLOTHESLINED HIM WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok now im out, had to see replay. this game is bullshit.
Total garbage refs. Total incompetence. Unbelievable. Shameful. Embarassing. This league is worse than any minor league organization. Crap. Pitiful. Unreal.
Just imagine if the that was Crosby getting decapitated by a stiff arm!?! There would be a suspension. So pissed what this league has become!!
Refs are giving them this game. We are done.

So efin mad, BS reffing, where the F is our Offense. We look like crap out there.

Look at the replay…not whining, just saying.

So that’s 3 blatant penalties not called.
Subban got tripped by te Pens player’s arm grab around.
Hamrlik got tripped y the Pens player’s stick in the legs.
AK gets hauled down with the arm on the chest.
Not a clean hit any of the 3.
well the game was decided very nicely by the refs.
they see the habs get a weak goal so they give pens carte blanche.
ha and people here talk about the KHL like it’s a bush league.. this is pure trash.
JM open your goddamn mouth and stick up for your players
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Surprised they didn’t call a penalty for shooting the puck at Fleury!
I wonder what would happen if O’Byrne straight-armed Crosby in the face while entering the zone.
I’m not sympathetic to Malkin being hurt.
wonder how much Pitt paid off the refs?
I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I’m pretty f***** p!ssed off about this bullsh!t officiating.
what the ***&*(^*^ is going on?
i cant beleive im watching cbc, the play by play douche is such a moron.he almost ripped aks head off! wow.. just wow.. i just lost the respect i had for this pitts team! fu** this team.. if they beat us i hope the bruins break all their legs
.::moen for captain::.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I miss Carbo. He wouldn’t put up with this garbage officiating. I wish Martin would scream for once.
Its a bit high, but its not a blatant headshot or anything, stuff like that goes by all the time
I’m telling you we won’t be winning another game in these series. This is about as fixed as it gets.
who’s the puke ref tonight?
Some of those are Pens fans
- I Hab Faith
I know where you are coming from. However, If he loses his cool, it will create panic on the bench. He’s a rock with his emotions, and he expects his team to be. And they have responded and not let it slow them down. If he loses his cool, what good will that do for his team? It’s no garauntee that the refs will listen either way.
I say that we find out.

Clotheslines aren’t permitted in the NHL. The check was not done with the shoulder.
So was Dany Heatley, yet he’s Canadian. Look it up genius. Grabovski is Belorussian.
PS. If you spell genius wrong, you really look like a dumbass.
Salei is the only true NHL’er.
Andrijevski, Alexander 1992-1992 (Minsk)
Bautin, Sergei 1992-1995 (Rogachev)
Koltsov, Konstantin 2002-2005 (Minsk)
Kostitsyn, Andrei 2005-2006 (Novopolosk)
Kostitsyn, Sergei 2007-2008 (Novopolotsk)
Mikulchik, Oleg 1993-1995 (Minsk)
Salei, Ruslan 1996-2008 (Minsk)
Actually you’re full of sh*t. What constitutes being a “true” NHLer? You don’t get to decide that. Both Kostitsyns and Grabovski, who you forgot, are NHL players.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
Woh!! I’m full of what??
by “true” nhl’er I meant has had a long and established NHL career.
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
oh ya – I forgot -Grabovski was born in Germany.
look it up genious.
Yah, that’s it, Gainey is busy responding to ignorant Americans from LA who only have something negative to say.
Seriously dude, you gotta grow up and get with the program. You’re the biggest Sergei going on this site. Despite what you think, management and coaching isn’t a problem.
Doubt he got much consideration considering he’s no longer the GM.
I figured as much. If he had stayed, do you think he would have gotten anything AB?
Bob made the short list of 30 names
He wouldn’t have gotten a nomination for sure, because the NHL has a bit of a hard on for franchises in the USA improving drastically. Otherwise you would think Ken Holland would get an obligatory nomination for his work the last decade or more.
At least he made the top 30… with firings and hirings, at least he’s not last
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
I think when you see the blow-up job he did, and the players he tried to get and couldn’t (lecavalier) I think his mix of skill and experience and team guys was quite good. Only he knows what the issues were in the team last year, or he wouldn’t have imploded the whole core.
Also, we act like he can just go out and trade or sign whomever he wants. We don’t know what his A plan was, or even if this team was his plan C. It involves a lot of luck too.
He should sign people before the end of the year, and also, a little more size up front would have been nice, but really, let’s give him a break!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
The comparison is just useless. Halak makes about 10% of what Luongo makes, so therefore Luongo sucks, right?
Ouch, how dare you. I like you have had a problem with that as well, This blog is not journalism, its a fans opinion, even though the author is a Journalist, You are right though, Pouliot get more passes than Jerry rice did from Joe Montana
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Cant disagree with the bloodthirsty hyenas part lol
Habs hockey = Smart hockey we work as a team, and we win as a team. we play 5 man defence – not just 2. we play with energy, we play with Subban in Markov’s place (for now) – Pk could have been with us since the Olympics, but nevermind that.
I’m quite sure Boone is simply pointing out that the bruins are getting a good deal on their money spent on Satan.
that Satan, as compared to A.K, appears to be a bargain.
that’s harmless enough.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Agreed completely, especially about the Brodeur thing.
Starting lineups?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
What sells more papers and get more hits on websites?
Sadly true. Mr. Boone baits the hook and gets us to bite everytime. LMAO
Let’s go Habs!!!!
Ak and Pouly 2 goals each!!!!!!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Can’t wait only 4hrs till game time…. so long for me to wait bcause in Europe
what does anyone out there think about putting Cammy, with Gomez and Gionta
Pleks with Andrei and Benny??? Maybe would give nice spark to offence
cammy has been double shifting. benny is mia ( but trying ), along with ak46 ( mind unreadable )
3 blatant penalties not called.
Subban got tripped.
Hamrlik got tripped.
AK gets hauled down.
Not a clean hit any of the 3.
No calll on broken stick. Then whiny Cindy cries and they give Gill a penalty.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Boone,
I work to midnight and my PVR took a deuce on me LAST NIGHT, so no hockey watching for me. I’m counting on your excellent blog to keep me informed.
I had a party scheduled for midnight to watch the game w/a couple of guys. Not anymore. I hate life.
-Dustin-
I’ll do my best, bro.
I like Martin McGuire, he always makes good points no one else thinks about.
I agree the reffing is terrible this game, but if that was one of our players getting their stick broken they would have the same reaction as crobsy on that one! That is why I hate those stupid sticks!
I predict the habs kill this one off, then in a couple minutes we get a PP and Cammy Scores!!
Saku you’ll always be #1
Who are these excuses for refs tonight? (I missed it at the beginning)
Theres plenty of us Ontario-born Habs fans who frequent that neighborhood for games. All of the bars on Bloor fill up with red pretty well.
Thats great to hear, props to you boys. Enjoy the game.
Actually, most of those Hab fans are ex-Montrealers like myself (Don Diego)
Why they deviated from Fix You I have no idea….hopefully it makes a triumphant return in a few minutes!
