Looks like Varlamov made a down syndrome joke about steve downie. I tend not to condone jokes like that because the only people it hurts are the people and family members with this conditions, I don’t feel bad for Downie because he is the dirtiest and dumbest player in the game today!!
apparently someone told hartnell that the t.v show lost is a true story , he’s in his home right now refusing to come out saying “it’s not real , nothing is real !! “
The regular season is a joke . The points that a team gets can be determined by so many other factors other than having the best team. A good example is washington, they play most of their games against weak southeast opponents and rack up the points. When going up against the habs there was no way they should have been considered the favorites based on the points that they gathered during the season but because of the talent level that they had. Winning the presidents trophy means absolutely nothing and at the end of the day having home ice doesn’t mean a whole lot either.
Lstien uo everyone!! We got all f*cking summer for reflection as to how proud we are of the boys, and I’ll be first in line no matter what happens, but let’s save the post mortems for then, not now when we are still in the fight!!!
you can analize it all you want but the end is the end ( if this is the last game ) in a couple of weeks all but one team will be asking what did we do wrong. great run that we are still in but philly is better , plain and simple.i think a couple of goals here and there from Gomez , Andrei , Pouillot and Pleks and we are prolly in the finals. we are in the third round the pundits have been proven wrong.
If we had of taken advantage of Washington’s weakness’ and stole the series because of a hot goalie, it is possible to say that the Caps are still a better team than The Habs. However, since we beat the Pens too, simply put RIGHT NOW WE ARE THE THIRD BEST TEAM IN THE NHL.
There has been some nonsense going around here regarding alot of issues this team has had to deal with. ALL SEASON. But in the end the success is measured by the team that wins the Cup. And right now we are in 3rd place to winning it. There are only 2 teams closer, and we are still in the hunt.
So the big question I have is this:
Is the best team the team that wins the Cup or the team that has the most points in the regular season?
Now I could argue that winning the bulk of 82 games is tougher than winning the bulk of 16-28 games. However, the fact that Washington Capitals have to play the teams in their division the most, and the fact that their division SUCKS throws that argument out the door. They are the only team in the playoffs from their division. If they had to play the Sharks, Hawks, Wings, and Canucks 3 times each (same as the rest of the league), then maybe there would be an argument. But when they play the Canes, Lightning, Panthers, and the Thrashers the most, I would argue that they have an advantage. Taking nothing away from them, they are a very good team. We are better.
Do you think people will remember the season by the Caps winning the Presidents Cup? Or the Canadiens winning the Stanley Cup? I dont know about you, but I think the fact that they call them CHAMPIONS pretty much says it all.
What am I trying to say and why am I bringing all this up. Well LIKE IAN, I want to express my happiness for this team. They had a tough season injury wise, alot of negative comments, and alot of bashing. But in the end we have a GREAT team. AND WE SHOULD BE CELEBRATING THAT.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Nice piece Robert, thanks for putting it on here. Claude Larose was a favorite of many and I am sure Claude Giroux will be very good for years to come.
Very proud of the Habs and what ever happens …happens! Can’t wait for OFF-SEASON changes and I think Laroque has it wrong bout Martin…Martin like big tuff fighting athletes that can PLAY THE GAME and that’s what has to be acquired in the off season to go along with our LIL PLAY-MAKERS…….GO HABS GO!
I haven’t seen the Habs make too many magical runs. I was only six when the won in 86, and most of my memories came from 1993, which I remember with great clarity. When you think back to that play-off run, the first thing is the 10 overtime games.. That is amazing in itself, but when you look at the context of some of the games, it is even more impressive. If they lose game 3 against Quebec, they’re done, but the somehow win. The illegal stick comeback in the finals was a defining moment for sure in the finals.
The point is, every team that wins the grail has had these moments. Messier’s guarantee, carolina winning in overtime in game 3 against the habs a few years ago, TB scoring in game 6 in overtime to force game 7, etc. etc etc.
The Habs have lots of the moments from this year, as do the Flyers. I would like to be able to think back in a couple of years and remember how I feel now, knowing that the boys put three wins together against the flyers and went on to win the cup. It is an opportunity for the Flyers to advance tonight, but it is even more of an opportunity for the habs to become legends!!
I agree with what you’re saying but I wont speculate, I am looking forward to tonight’s game instead.
I think something that worked to the advantage of the Flyers was all the jawing the Habs shot towards them at the end of game 3 rather than just letting the Flyers player’s own frustration undo themselves completely. The Flyers were able to rally around this and stick it to the Habs game 4. Richards with all his dis-respect whining. Hartnell calling Cammy a tongue wagging girl, and a not so pretty one at that.
The Habs need to step it up this game, expect the Flyers to get nasty and dirty at the end of it should they be winning, and rather than get too cocky just close the deal with cold-blooded efficiency.
You’re correct about being forced to the outside and I think that has been the Flyers key in their 3 wins. You’re also correct about the good character. However, as I said to HH below, I never expected a playoff this year. It has been fun but the “grit” needs to be added in the off-season. We have a solid core. And…it’s not over yet.
Good Points, but we’re not talking about miracles. We are talking about two teams playing hockey, which on any given night, either team can win. The habs will likely lose the series, no doubt, but my expectations are pointless, because I will still watch the game anyway.
The flyers are very flawed, as are the Canadiens. The Canadiens flaws have been glaring lately. Can the flyers take a chink in the armor if the habs win?? Stayed tuned!!!
You are right about the experience factor. If the habs had some big grit mixed through the lineup, a la Big Buff, and had another tough, physical stud on the point, i think they would be a more complete team. I think those things will be addressed in the off-season, which I hope doesn’t start for a few weeks!!
I don’t disagree with all you have said David. I’d love to see them build from the draft too but that means getting lucky on the middling picks they always end up taking. Drafting, after the top couple of picks, is a crap shoot where we rarely have luck. Reasonable trades and selective FAs seem our only destiny for now. I’m OK with that.
The team, as it stands now, has a good foundation I believe. I’ve thought that since last fall and never really expected this type of playoff run. If (a big if) management does the right things this summer we may see even better over the next couple of years.
I usually would agree and do hope for a miracle, but to see how they lost their 3 games this series. I’ve never seen a team so shut down in my life. The team had 2 scoring chances last game. I mean seriously. After seeing how easily the Flyers can handle the Habs, how can anyone realistically think they can win 3 in a row? This team is finally showing why all the pundits scoffed at how Gainey made them throughout the year. They just can’t compete with a real playoff styled team. They are actually getting beaten worse than they did in 2008, with the same matchup. Nothing has changed as far as story line. Flyers still too physical, keeps Montreal to the outside etc. If anything, this team seems more one dimentional with less depth than 2008. They have more character, but a lot less ability to handle the shut down game. Only the goaltending is a little better this year. It’s starting to look like everybody was right afterall about Gainey and the team he created. Good character, but not enough grit.
I suspect that he didn’t bring in these guys to lead us to the promised land but to change the culture of the team — influencing the up-and-comers (should we have any apart from the guy who has already showed up). I think this year’s run is, therefore, a bonus, but the thinness of the roster has been revealed. I tend to think that JM’s handling of players may have contributed to the thinness, however. Or else maybe it’s somebody else’s fault that everyone seems to stall after they reach the Habs. I guess we’re still all trying to figure that one out, or at least I am.
Chicago is already in the final Dave. Should the Habs make it too (unlikely but not impossible as they need to win the next 3) the tank argument is still valid. Besides, tank is just a word used to shock and awe. The real concept is rebuilding via the draft. Edmonton has decided to follow that course. Try and ask them if they want to give up their 1st pick. Maybe they’ll trade it for Gomez and Price.
I am not a hockey GM just a frequent poster here at HIO. BG was and he chose to bring in a leadership core to build around via free agency rather than build from the draft. Even with Gomez’ salary I like what I see as a foundation. There is way more to do to get this team into contention-mode though. This play-off run has been precarious to say the least especially this series. Getting shut out 3 games of 4 is a dubious indicator indeed.
Nevertheless, Chicago looks like they’ll have a Cup this year after being lost in the wilderness for decades. If the Habs don’t score a goal tonight I’d say the BG experiment looked good too but invariably blew up in the chemist’s face.
Looking back at the comments from the last couple of weeks of the regular season you’ll find some very humourous (as well as caustic) comments regarding the playoffs. The general theme would be started by someone posting the statement “you never know what can happen in the playoffs”. This would be answered by a mix of people who either jump on the positive sentiment bandwagon or do their damnedest to belittle the statement or the commentor.
So here we are, game 5 of the conference finals and we’re in a deep hole. Again. Facing elimination. Again. No chance. Again. This is going to take a phenomenal effort or some weird bounces or some combination of magic and miracle to pull it off. The Habs could find their game and dominate, the Flyers could turn in a stinker, Jaro could stand on his head or Leighten could be a sieve. Who knows?
We all have preconceived notions of what may transpire based on the series so far, previous series results, how each team has performed in the past and on and on. Stats and opinions are endless. With all that in mind as a fan I can only cheer for my team, hope for the best and be prepared for whatever goes down.
And, of course, remember the comment: “You never know what can happen in the playoffs”.
Francis Bouchard, a Hearst Ontario native has put together this fine article at EOTP on local boy Claude Giroux. Did he want to drafted by the Habs? At 17, he played pickup hockey in a Saku jersey…photo included.
things can change but if there ever was a game where the first goal is big this is that game….we may need to win this game 1-0.. hope i am wrong but gomez,plecks.ak46 and pouliot give me no confidence at all that they will provide any scoring…if the flyers beat us in the series these four will be a huge reason why that happened …plecks and gomez may have good over all faceoff wins but i wish they had stats on face off wins in our zone when we are pk and in the other teams zone when we are on the pp as it seems to me these two lose a tremendous amount of these face offs.
It is pretty hard to win face offs when they toss out the center every draw. It seemed every face off we were thrown out of the circle without movement on the wing and before the flyer center had his stick down. Surprised the zebras didn’t find a way to call a bench minor delay of game penalty against the Habs.
December 4, 2009 – Elmer Lach’s jersey took its rightful place with the Rocket’s in the rafters.
It’s not just the media either. One particular Sens (douchebag) fan I know spits venom when we talk about the Habs right now and he cannot wait until we lose. “All the sweeter” he said but where are his mighty Sens who many picked to go very deep in the playoffs? That’s right, they are on the outside looking in, just like 27 other teams.
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Unfortunately, much of what you say is true. I could not believe the attitude of Mike Emrick on Versus when the Habs crushed the Penguins in game 7. Emrick is not alone, several other sprotscasters seem to share his attitude.
The part that really stinks is that the players that are the Canadiens this year deserve a lot of credit and they aren’t getting it from the media. Almost to a man, the Habs have shown heart and character, the kind of professional athletes that I want my son to look up to. I remember the NHL pre-season show where they ask several analysts what teams will go deep into the playoffs. The Canadiens were never given a chance – either a no show post season or a quick exit in the first round. The Habs have already proven them wrong.
Being the #8 seed in the East this year is not that relevant since only a few points separated several teams. What is relevant is the way the Habs played this post season. They came together as a team and knocked off two top teams. Nobody predicted that. My hat is off to the Canadiens this year. Credit is due to the players for bucking the odds. It ain’t over and I don’t hear any lady about to sing.
If the Habs lose tonight they still deserve a crowd at the airport standing and cheering. Out of 30 teams in the NHL, 27 of them are golfing. The habs are still playing. Darn good season.
Whatever happens tonight and unless we pull off three straight wins against the Flyers, the media will not be kind to the Habs nor their fans. Like the Yankees of the baseball world, we are hated. They hate us because we win and have won 24 cups. They hate us because the Habs have the best fans in hockey. They hate us because we understand the game so well. They hate the Habs because if they don’t, then they have to try to understand what it is that makes this team and it’s fans so great.
Even if we were to win the next three games against the Flyers and go on to beat the ‘Hawks, they would not sing our praises as a great team who won, despite all odds. If the Flyers go on to win, they will say we could not beat a well balanced team and our size was an issue. If we go on to win, they will say our goalie is the only reason we made it ‘this far’.
Regardless what happens tonight I am damned proud of this team, what they have overcome and what they have accomplished. We fought and struggled through injuries, unfamiliar faces, adversity in and out of the dressing room and have gelled into a pretty amazing team. Did I curse them at times? Yup, because as a Habs fan, I demand the best from the best hockey team in the world. I don’t switch off being a Habs fan like many other teams fanbase do.
So, my tri-coloured Road Warriors, let’s go out there tonight and wipe the collective smirk off the nay sayers and sportscasters who said we couldn’t and crush the Flyers like we know we can!
GO HABS GO!!
“Without the strength of the past, the team may face a choice – to win, or to be French-Canadian?” — Ken Dryden
Maybe a certain goalie should stay in his crease from now on. When hs stays in the blue paint, he looks like a god. When he leaves in, he turns into a devil.
Our specialty teams have been atrocious all post-season. These series they have really stunk the joint and have been the main reason why we’re down 3-1.
No offense but a .865 sv percentage isnt something that I would say has been great. They are putting the goals away, even when they have less chances. What goes up must go down, I just wish he kept it up for another series…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I’ve thought that too. Certain teams we just seem to match up better against. Philly’s top four D are probably better than anyone else in the East, and when we’re still struggling to “find” our top six forwards, it’s not a great recipe for success.
Again, wouldnt that mean Philly is exactly as good as us since we had the same amount of point in the reg season… Cause obviously there are no elite team left.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Since when did a breakaway, escentially a shoot out attempt, become “unstoppable”. Is it just when Halak is net, or is it for all goalies. If Loungo gave up the same goals Halak has tonight, people would be talking about he choked and had a 4th line grinder, Asham, make him look bad twice. He got lucky the first time when Asham made him look silly, but shot it to high, the second time he beat him.
Yup I was worried about one team but figured NJ would have taken care of them. Nope. Then Boston. I think our guys lost confidence when Bostn lost and saw they were going against Philly….
With average goaltending the Flyers would have easily made the post season. With average goaltending the Habs would have been golfing a long time ago with the Laffs.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
The Habs played well, but were very lucky. Without Halak and Cammy, the team is embarrassed like they are in this series. Those teams didn’t play as tough a game as Philly does.philly is just physically breaking the will of the Habs before our eyes. The first 2 series were also physical, and Montreal is just too small to take this punishment for 2 months.
No Halak Bashing here but, Philly has had his number the whole series. They knew how to score on him. I think it’s over. GOOD SEASON BOYS, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. ESP YOU HALAK. But his mojo is gone.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
The team is just getting hammered by the forecheck. It’s way to easy for the Flyers. Big, Tough, physical forwards > small skilled guys. Someone must have forgotten to send the memo to Gainey.
Philly completely shut us down. And we are still trying the same thing over and over. MAB isnt helping and only having 2 consistent goal scorers doesn’t help either.
…instead of so-called Fans walking-out early in the third of Game 4 …They should have stayed to give a standin-O …as it was likely the last-chance to show Our appreciation for a memorable and BRAVE season
I have been saying that for some time now. Look, this run has been incredible and I applaud it. It was done because of unreal performances by Cammi and Halak and could not realistically be maintained. Yet some on HIO continue to say that the Habs are an elite team solely because they are one of three remaining teams. Duh?
PG has a big job this summer in getting this team to be truly elite.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
i could not disagree more. the feeling of pride i had at putting cindy back in that picture (remember last year’s nhl ads?) was just awesome and i carried it around for days. i am crushed now, but i would never give up that feeling of pride and accomplishment!
same with life… you know, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. i still love my habs!
Yup, that is the question, hard one for the Habs GM. He’s put up the numbers in the reg season, but he seems to disappear in the playoffs. He’s an enigma, wrapped in a puzzle.
Well it could have been a closer series than many are making it out to be. The difference was that the Habs PP couldn’t get on track and contribute like it did in the first two rounds. And JM didn’t know how to fix it. He should have been using Subban and Spacek on the 1st PP unit. Instead we got a full course of MAB with Philly loading the RH side and pressurring him relentlessly. Pronger got away with a lot of pretty obvious infractions in this series as well. Lots of holding and interference and he was rarely called for anything. Good experience for the Habs. the Habs are a couple of decent players away from being a good team.
I’m proud of the team and their will to compete against all the odds and in spite of all the negative press and expert opinion. This is a good team and there’s no need to gut the lineup again. With some tweaking, a few wise trades and signings and a willingness by management, coaches and players to work hard they’ll be even better next season. It will all start in just a few weeks and I’m looking forward to the continuation of the rebuild they began last summer.
Kinda like the pride Leafs fans get from a mediocre team, it’s pathetic how jaded we’ve become by mild success. I appreciate your comment and agree, those who are proud right now need remember there will be no banner hanging from the rafters after this season.
So Proud of these Canadiens. Im Bummed but proud at the same time this is the longest ive seen them go in the playoffs (yes im part of “That” Generation) and it was great!
on another note guys i wont be sad if they dont come back next season
Without a doubt. Boston was holding on for dear life. If they made it to the conf finals it would have been an easy series… But, if your aunt had balls shed be your uncle right? haha
If that’s your attitude as a sport fan, then stop supporting professional sport: you’re dooming yourself (and depressing others) to a certainty of nearly perpetual unhappiness.
It was a great ride! Who thought we would be watching our team into late May?
But, how about those classless Philly fans? Taunting the Habs with Ole while the heandshakes are finishing up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen opposing fans act that way at a time when it’s supposed to be about good will. Totally classless. But then again, it doesn’t surprise me.
How about the check to the face of MAB in the first period? then they go back and score a short handed goal. How many cross checks to the lower back has he handed out this series?
Having said that, the Flyers were just too much for us this series. They have the size but they have the skill to go along with it. Our D that kept the Caps and Pens under wraps just did not have enough left in them to handled the Flyers size and tenacity.
I loved Koivu as much as the next guy when he played for the Habs, but it was time for him to go his way and the Habs to go a different way. I take back the grouping him in with the other losers, he just got caught up in the changing of the culture of our team. With wholescale changes taking place in 2009, it was time for him to go his way and turn over a new leaf for himself and his family, and for the team to go in another direction. He was a great leader for team but never had a decent cast around him, nothing like the team we had this year. As for the rest of losers I mentioned, they were definitely losers and haven’t been missed at all this year.
GREAT SEASON GUYS……….AMAZING!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE EXCIEMENT………….GREAT CARDIAC GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK-YOU HABS!!!!!!!Chicago will beat the Flyers I would like them to go after Pronger dirty player gets away with alot the refs close their eyes because they are STARS can’t penalize them.RIGHT?????? Go Chicago Go…..Make Betman Happy you are Americans………no Canadians for this year
Well, all the ‘experts’ thought that Habs smurf team would be no where close to the playoffs. All the Leafs fans thought the same. But, the smurfs eventually went to the Conference Finals, eliminating Washington and Pittsburgh.
Pretty good for SMURFS eh? Great season Habs. GO HABS GO!
I feel somewhat the same but you have to admit they showed real heart. For a rather punchless, undersized squad they went farther than anyone could imagine and provided some amazing excitement.
Well they’ve already got about 4 million coming off the books because Johnsson (who hasn’t played a game for them since they got him for Cam Barker) is up after the season. Versteeg will go before Buff. Ya Huet will get buried next year. I’d go for Sharp before Brouwer since he’s more consistant and brings more leadership capabilities and shoots right. I’m a Dustin Penner fan though so that’s why I bring him up and apparently the Oilers would be willing to part ways with him.
Either of them would give that Habs the depth to compete next season I believe, along with Pouliot coming back in better shape and stronger next season
Add JM. This team finally played great hockey against the Caps when MAB was limited to the PP. Yet every chance JM gets to give him 20 minutes he does. I have heard of long leashes but the one MAB has defies description. O’Byrne looks at JM the wrong way and he is benched.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
The Habs got further than I expected them too and I must thank them for some edge of seat viewing. Thanks to the HIO staff and members who added some great views on a very up and down season. Too the many trolls who come here to shit and barf f-u-c-k o-f-f.
They gave us all so much more than we were expecting and so much more than we have gotten since ’93! I just hope the younger fans in Montreal who have never experienced a Cup got a good taste of what it can be like when these guys go on a run. It’s still very special to play in Montreal when you have your game on!
This has been an incredible ride. Unexpected, brilliant, and a great foundation to build on.
Look at it this way- last week there was a big thing in the papers about Sens fans- wondering why the Sens can’t attract the big name free agents like Montreal did? This is the legacy of a great year: we’ve become a prime destination. In one short year, we’ve gone from being passed over by everyone from Shanahan to Briere etc etc. and reminded everyone how great it is to play in this town.
The big pieces are signed long term, with a couple notable exceptions (Halak & Pleks, who will both re-sign). This team does not quit, does not lie down, and is full of interesting character guys. They drive you crazy some nights, but on the whole this season has been great fun.
Can’t imagine anyone wanting to lose in the second round instead of the third… Were you not able to enjoy the wins in the first two series? If you can’t appriciate those victories then there really is no point in following the team.
Is anyone else choked by CBC announcers making Leighton out to be Bernie Parent…we make him look good for God’s sake..how many easy shots has he stopped and Bob Cole chokes on a cod fish, like he saved the game..just sayin!
I know he’s been playing hurt because he’s not as good as usual but when it comes down to it, outside of ES we shouldn’t see him with only one good arm.
Fact: Almost the whole team has been useless this series. Whoever coaches the PP (Pearn?) should be fired. No plan whatsoever .Also Cammy has been a no show tonight.
Well that was a hell of a season. No quit in the boys up till the end. For a team that barely made the playoffs, not many expected the team to make it this far. My hat is off to them.
- AK and SK yes if the return is worth it. Either dump them at the draft or if the value isn’t there, I would start the year with AK and trade him after he has a hot streak when his value is highest. the guy can score and hit when he feels like it, just need to catch another team seeing that and willing to pay.
- Spacek yes. Good attitude but slowing down and would rather see the spot and money given elsewhere.
- Hamr will be tough to unload. I think overall he had a decent year, and if he were playing for 2 million a year I’d take him back easily.
- Pouliot I would keep. He played awful in the playoffs but he has shown he has an upside. he’s one of those guys that requires us to be a bit more patient. We have given up on too many guys too early, and he is still young (in his first real season in the NHL) with a good shot and good speed. He will get better with the right leadership. Would like to see the Habs acquire an established power forward who would not only be able to score but take benny under his wing and teach him. I think that will pay off in the long run.
- Add on Mara to your list. Maybe a given since he din’t play but no point in re-signing him.
- Also add on Metro. getting older. replaceable.
- Hope Price and Halak are both around if the money isn’t unreasonable. Still need a year to see if Price improves. I am a huge Halak fan but you hate to give up on a guy with Price’s talent, pedigree, and size. same kind of story as for Pouliot, just needs some guidance, and it seems as though he may be starting to get it.
- finally, the big question is Plekanec. Would like to re-sign the guy, he is an every-night effort guy with a great attitude and he can play PP and PK. His performance in clutch games is not there though, so he’s not worth over 4 million a year to me. Would be willing to part with him for one reason… if Marleau is available. Marleau I would give 6 a year too if we have the space and he more than makes up for Pleks leaving… guess we’ll see.
Gomez, Gionta, and PK Subban played their hearts out tonight. Halak could not be faulted for the goals either. He did not steal the game for us, but was solid.
Pleks, AK 46, Pouliot invisible yet again. No need to resign Pleks - he will not be worth the money.
JM should have played O’Byrne much more tonight and the rest of the series. His size and hitting would have helped.
They went so far without anyone giving them the credit to do so. This is a team I welcome back to Montreal tonight.
Be the critic of the team all you want. The best team won. But I for one really lift my hat up for the team that battled against all diversity and got them this far into the playoffs.
Here’s for the Hawks giving the Flyer a can of old fashioned Whoop A**!
Interesting to see all the MAB bashers out in full force, without him
I don’t think we even make the playoffs! Once Markov went down he came
in and single handlely carried the power play thru the 1st half of the
season grabbing us many valueable points we needed to even just get in
the dance. And all that for 750K! It’s not his fault JM played him
back on D, he should have been up front on the 4th line all series with
OB back on the point. After Marky went down there was no one to feed
him the puck, but don’t just blame him for the powerplay woes, it was
the works of them, way too many shorthanded goals which kill you.
Too
bad Markov goes down, think the Flyers would have beaten them without
Pronger or Timonen, don’t think so.
It’s too bad cause I think
Habs could have given the Hawks a run for their money, a lot like they
beat the Caps and the Pens. I think the Hawks will kill the Flyers.

Sounds like you’ve been hanging around Canucks fans too much – mediocre is satisfactory in your books? Personally I want a cup win or nothing, anything else is a failure.
Who’s embarrassed? By their own admission we kicked their asses one game. They are a good team. There is no shame in puttg up a good fight against not one, not two, but THREE awesome opponents.
Cammy has a great shot and is a good player, but the guy is a total pussy when it comes to a physical environment. Now you know why he wasn’t even considered for team Canada.
Murder! LOL!!! Man are you ever s-t-u-p-i-d. As in STUPID. Not only are you a giant pussy, but you are 5 cans short of a six pack.
Anyways, if you think padding the Molsons wallet is good and losing 10 places in the draft is ok as well…I’m not sure what to even say to that. We’ll just agree that you are a giant vacum of intelligence and leave it at that.
Have a good summer, and when you’re underwater….don’t breath. Bad idea.
Again and again…Salary: Not, His, Fault! I’m not saying he deserves the money, but hey! he’s ours for a couple of years and creates amazing stuff for us. Let’s appreciate!
me too ….. at least they took the time to honour him……surprised Brunet didn’t find a way to bash him too! must be that cup they won together but still….
On behalf of Saku and his fans thank you for the retraction. Saku was the antithesis of a loser, his battle with cancer proves he is a winner in the biggest game of all LIFE.
I apologize for calling you an idiot, but calling Saku a loser is fighting words.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
We had a greta run. Sadly, all we get for this is the playoff experience, and that is only worth it if we build on it to take it two steps further next year. What we lose is our seeding in the draft…
Grades for the game (and for the entire season + playoffs in brackets):
Halak B (A)
Price – (B-)
Markov – (C), OB C+ (C+)
Gill B+ (B), Gorges A (A)
Hamrlik B+ (B), Spacek C+ (C)
Subban B+ (B), MAB C+ (C-)
Mara – (D)
Cammalleri B (A), Pleks B- (A-), AK46 C- (D)
Pouliot C- (C), Gomez A (B), Gionta A (A)
Moen C (C), Moore C+ (C+), Lapierre C+ (C+)
Pyatt – (B-), Metro B+ (C), Darche B (C+)
Not going to rate guys like Laraque, Maxwell, Pacioretty… overall, our best players in these playoffs were Gio, Cammy, and Halak, with honorable mentions to Gill and Gorges for the great D. Still obvious that the top two lines need work, although we are filling out the bottom half of the line-up quite well (so long as those guys aren’t asked to do the top line jobs too often).
WHY IS MAB ON THE ICE? ONLY A RETARD WOULD HAVE MAB ON THE ICE! WHY? WHY, JM? WHAT A USELESS BASTARD TO HAVE BEHIND YOUR BENCH. LAVIOLETTE WAS JUST WAITING FOR YOU!!!
Trust me, Montreal wasn’t the better team. They got their you know what handed to them. Philly is as tough and tenacious as it gets and pretty skilled also. Tons of depth. Montreal just doesn’t stack up.
I can’t wait for Boones assessment of this years Habs it will be a good read.
Congrats to HABS for a great playoff run its been 17 years since i was at the last parade , i thought we had a good chance but deep down flyers to good and way to tough. we lack some depth and other pieces…more on that as we go on with the summer.
Personally I like the guy, I think he can be a usefull 2nd or 3rd line center. But in the reality of a cap based NHL, he is just tying up too much money that should be going to a goal scorer.
You ever stop complaining? You clearly have no idea about how hockey works. Complete waste? All that describes is the time anyone takes to read your retarded comments. Why don’t you go on another website and call people pussies for not wanting people to murder each other in sports?
Bergeron is a waste of oxygen in this game. And, when you consider
oxygen is a very common gas in the atmosphere, you’ll understand what a
serious waste Bergeron is.
anyone who thinks bergeron was a + for this team needs to get off the pipe
An up and down season that ended with more ups than downs. Congratulations to the Montreal Canadiens for giving us hope and showing wha ta team with heart can do.
I didn’t mean to call him a loser, just had him grouped in with all the other guys that were shipped out last year, the most of whom didn’t have half the heart of the group that replaced them this year. I would have loved for the team to have surrounded Koivu with the caliber of players we have today, the Gointa’s, Cammalleri’s, Gill’s and Halak’s. At least these players have a chance at matching the heart and determination that Saku had, better so than the Kovalev’s, Tanguay’s and Higgin’s and countless others he had to play with during his time here. It would have been great to see Saku on this team this year, perhaps after the run we had this year we can convince him to come back next year on a 1 or 2 year contract.
Anyone who describes this playoff run as a pathetic failure is retarded, in my opinion. If you can’t appreciate the effort it took to get this far than you’re just a BS fan.
C’mon, he’s so not what this team needs, it’s not even funny. Let’s work on improving an already too small and non physical team. Some big wingers who can head to the net to replace Pouliot and AK46 would be a good start.
This is a team I was proud to watch for once in a very long time.
We had a great run in the playoffs and got out-gooned and out-muscled by a bigger team.
I’ll enjoy my second home’s team utterly beat the living hell out of Philly.
Still, we have nothing to be ashamed of and our guys fought through TWO 7 game series and almost came back in this one despite the dirt thrown at us by the worst fanbase and most unsportsmanlike team in the NHL.
There are still some adjustments to be made and still some guys we are gonna have to say BYE BYE to…
All in all, this was the best story of the season. Bar none. We destroyed our critics and we went further than we have in 17 years.
Merci a NOS CANADIENS pour votre effort et votre courage.
Although occasionally spoiled by trolls posting around this site, I otherwise injoyed the ride and give all the credit to our team, especially Halak, Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez, Plekanec, Gill, Gorges, Subban and Markov (too bad we lost him)
Enjoy the summer, cheer up and see you the next season!!
Great post – totally agree Chorske. I think your comment is supported by what Cammy was quoted in saying “I almost feel bad for a guy who plays an NHL career without experiencing what it’s like to be a Montreal Canadien.” I think that speaks volumes.
What a ride! So proud!!!
………..
“Thank you Cammy for making my day even more amazing!”
I STILL BELIEVE. I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE.
Cammalleri: “I almost feel bad for a guy who plays an NHL career without experiencing what it’s like to be a Montreal Canadien”.
Everything that worked in the first two rounds left us. Our d disappeared, Cammaleri stopped scoring, and Halak fell back to earth, becoming good instead of unbelievable. Oh hell. we didn’t deserve to be there anyways.
The problem is that if Markov had been in, Subban would not have been there so MAB would still have been useless.
It’ll be an interesting off-season to say the least. I think Pleks, Hammer, both Tits and one of the goalies are gone. Hopefully Markov comes back healthy.
I’m surprised they were able to make it so far after Markov went down. Say what you want about him 5-on-5 in the playoffs but he would have definitely helped the PP. Glad to see they made it a game.
Good run boys. The experience will be invaluable for players like Subban and Halak. I think the Habs should let Pleks walk if he’s asking anywhere near 5 million. Gomez skated his **s off tonight. He was the probably the only player who could gain the flyers zone effectively.
Mr. Boone, could you use your influence with the ‘powers that be’ to arrange some kind of celebratory parade to acknowledge the wonderful post-season that our Habs gave us? I’m sure that thousands of fans would show up.
Now that the season’s over, I’d like to know what Plek’s hip injury was since they’ve been mum on it. Could explain why he was missing jump in his game.
It was a wonderful run by a team the media predicted would do nothing, the same media who could not give credit when they did and now it is over. Watch out next year because now the core of the team knows what is possible. See you all in October.
Re-sign Moore, re-sign Pleks (but only for a reasonable dollar amount. He’s proven that he’s not a playoff performer), Dump the Kostitsyn brothers, dump Hamrlik, get a big winger to play with Cammy and Pleks such as Dustin Penner (I know everyone would want Big Buff but there’s no way Chicago is trading him), get Pouliot in better shape for next season, and re-sign Halak and Price (if possible).
The Habs have shown that for the first time in years that they have a good foundation to build on, they just need to tweak a few things and gain more depth.
Something to look forward to for next year, a full season with PK in Montreal, that should be worth the admission as he blossoms into one of the premier D-men in the league. What he showed in playoffs is only a glimpse of what we are in store for. Remember, he just turned 22, and didn’t look at all out of place in the playoffs. Sure he made a few mistakes, but he also made some big plays during this run, and he will learn form those mistakes and cut down on them in the future.
This has been an unbelievable run, though I was hoping for one more round. Some key things to look forward to for 2010-11:
1. The players Gainey obtained in the 2009 offseason have shown heart/will/determination/guts/etc. Everyone bashed Gainey last summer when he let Kovy/Koivu/Tanguay/Komosirek/et al walk as UFA’s. Telll me now if you would rather those losers over Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez, Gill, et al. I don’t think so. Now we can cut more of the slackers this offseason (AK46/SK74) and add a few more winners to the core for next year.
2. Full season of Markov and PK anchoring the D and the PP. PP will be even better than it was this year.
3. JM can actually coach, outduelled two of the best in the first two rounds and showed he can make the necessary changes on the fly.
4. Goalie controversey has been solved this year, Halak is the man going into next year. I think PG should sign both goalies this offseason. Should sign Halak to a 3 or 4 year deal at decent dollars for both sides, say 3 mill a year, and should sign Price to be his backup. Price now has no leverage at all and should be able to be signed low dollar value on a 1 or 2 year contract. I see Halak carrying the team for the next 2 – 3 years, with Price maybe topping out as the better goalie of the two when he finally matures and reaches his potential. However I think this will take another 2 or 3 years to happen, so sigh both now. Can move Price at the deadline next year or the year after if he finally shows signs of reaching his potential and get a scoring winger in return to deepen the lines for a playoff run next year.
5. Habs fans have shown they are the best this playoff season and the Bell Center is the best venue in the league for playoff hockey. Cammalleri put it best when he said it should be everyone’s dream to play here and feels bad for the players that don’t get a chance to play in Montreal, what a player. Tell me again who you would rather on your team, Cammalleri or Kovalev? Thank god Kovy and his agent dwelled over the offer from Gainey last July and didn’t sign right away.
6. Passing the torch – George Gillett turned out to be a good owner for the Habs, helping return them to respectability, then passed to torch back to the Molson family. How did you like the first season back under Molson ownership? I know I had fun during this run.
You called EVERYBODY associated with the team a joke (That is putting it nicely) through the entire regular season, when the boys were down 3 games to 1 to Washington and when they were down 1 game to 0 against the Pens, when they were down 3 games to 2 to the Pens, etc. You are the biggest idiot I have ever come across in my entire life. You are the exact fan that REAL FANS hate and I mean HATE. One who jumps ship nonstop only to come back aboard and rejoice when good things happen. You are a fool! Go “cheer” for some other team you fairweather joke!

Timo is the biggest joke & fraud in the history of hockey “fans”
How many times during the year were we on Price for letting in deflating goals? Halak let in the biggest one of the year because he thought the blue line was part of his fn crease.
I hope thats the last I see of AK46, SK74, and MAB, Benny, well Im undecided about you. JM see ya and well Im OK with whoever plays in the Nets. Again Thanks Boys for a wonderful ride.
sorry if i got a little testy.. just got annoyed that you threw all the russians under the bus and called them all scumbags, when you have class acts like datsyuk and fedorov on that team.
a little mean has never hurt anyone… i would love a kasparaits type player, or stevens but those guys are hard to come buy.
apparently emelin is supposed to be like that, plays with a badass attitude.
i don’t really know who is available out there this year, but i would love a big body to compliment guys like cammy, gionta and gomez

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
First off, very happy with the third period the Habs played. They came out with energy and dominated it start to finish. Tough luck that we didn’t get one more bounce.
Second, Mike Richards is right up there as being a finalist for dirtiest player in the league. Each of his two goals could have been called back or a penalty. Yes, the empty-netter was very borderline, but he stuck his arm in front of Pleks and with an empty net scoring chance as a result, I think that has to be called. The flying forearm to the head on the first goal was a no-brainer call that the refs ignored. refs also ignored an obvious hold by Pronger in the last minute… all in all, I don’t think we were the better team in that series, but I also don’t feel the Flyers deserve to be going to the finals either. I think they played pretty poorly overall and got a lot of lucky bounces and opportunistic power plays. With the team of cheapshot artists they have put together, I think it’s fair to say that I hope they get swept out next round because they don’t deserve to be where they are. A team built around intimidation won’t get any respect from me.
It was a great run! It sucked to lose! But, as a fan of the sport, it’s gonna be great when the Black Hawks win! If it couldn’t be us, they were my pick. Now, the Leafs are the worst of the original six!
I almost agree, except you remember wins not losses. We STILL beat the two best teams. However I can’t believe they lost by bending over and taking it…
how fast it starts and i can’t believe people coming down on pleks, like he hasnt done anything, nite in and out pk duty on the first shift and i think he allways tries.
As for the people saying when will we win? it will come but i think you have to give props to the guys for this run. I think they did great especially with markov out.
just no mab next year.
but look at the core
gill, markov and gorges.
your gonna have gomez, cammy and gionta`, mix in a few more guys and hey you can play.
GREAT YEAR GUYS.
and kudos to habs inside/out LOVED THE FEATURE and boone i love the game blogs
forget the fact that Gomez doesn’t quit, he scored 1 goal in the playoffs. major upgrade on Saku, Bob. I like almost every other move, but this one is going to be a stinker for a long, long time.
Blackhawks may not have a choice with Byfuglien, so many contracts, some guys have to go, at least two Top-6 capable forwards, burying Huet’s contract in the minors AND dropping Sopel will likely be necessary for next season. Maybe the Canadiens should target Patrick Sharp or Troy Brouwer though, could be options.
This comment coming from a clown who uses an avatar like this . Check the mirror bro,.the retard rest within it. ……. Grow up & allow others their own opinions……..
we made it to the conf finals with 2 players who quit on the team (kostitsyns) and no markov, now we just need to add a couple skilled big guys up front, preferably canadians who actually care about hockey, good bye and good riddance to kost bros, thanks for the season habs

We have one of the future greats on defense with us. LA has Doughty, we have PK. The Flyers know how good he will be. They gave him great props and probably were giddy to see MAB there.
The team gave it all it had. They made us proud.
But we CANNOT expect to win with this team as is. Our small players need help. We need a tough SOB to stir things up.
The players did what they could. Now PG must do his part. Replace deadwood with new blood.
Not doing anything is the wrong thing to do.
With Pleks I think we cannot do the first move. Overpaying will handcuff us even more.
This was my first season here at HI/O and it was an awesome ride. I couldnt be much prouder of les boys. See you guys at the draft! Have a great summer!
One of the last 3! WOW! Think about that for while…..
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain. Habs for life.
I agree. Pleks must have a serious injury, affecting his skating. There is no question, I believe. The guy has been a shadow of himself on the offensive end since mid Pittsburgh series. If he wasn’t injured, then why would you resign him?
What about all those points he helped us get early in the season via the powerplay. Once Markov went down he almost singlehandely kept the power play at the top of the league. I don’t think we get wnough points to make the playoffs without MAB. So bash his play all you want, I agree he sucked in the 2nd half of the playoffs, but without him we wouldn’t even had made the playoffs!
wtf why no penalty there and then the ref gets in the way causing a goal. Tough to beat the flyers and the refs….buttman at it again. If the habs lose I can’t wait to see Chicago totally destroy the flyers. Richards no class dirty player. JM this is why we need some tough bangers in the lineup, larocque could have went out there and busted some heads…..
I love the Canadiens so much. Its in my blood. I am so proud of them this year. My wedding cake was a montreal canadiens cake with a canadiens logo on the bottom layer and the second layer was held up by four stanley cups. My christmas tree this year was a Montreal Canadiens themed tree. I bought a baby Montreal Canadiens fold out couch in the chance my wife and I had a baby soon and we are expecting our first in september. I am so proud to be a habs fan. I am a habs fan for life.
just think. if only this team had beaten Carolina, NYI, or the leafs. you reap what you sow.
and next year because of Gomez’s contract, no cap space to sign a scorer.
oh wll we can always get some retreads like Breezer or Mab. they’re good for a laugh.
but seriously this franchise is in deep s*t. unless they unload Hamrlik, and Halak, where will scoring come from? you can’t have only 2 scorers -Cammalleri and Gionta.
wow did Gainey ever kill this team with his ridiculous and long contracts. Gainey you suck!
But if it is we owe the Bruins Big Time. They coulda just played one great period and beaten Phillies and then our desting WOULD have been fulfilled and we woulda been gentle about it.
I hope we beat them in every game next season and make them miss the playoffs.
We have to get a goa my god we have to make them pay, weve done not much to make the flyers work, its definatley not for lack of heart, were gassed, weve lost the touch but im not givin up until its done!
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
Yup, I must be a Leaf fan. Clearest evidence? I’m not a blind homer such as yourself. Thank F%^in christ. The nasty play of the flyers is exactly the sort of hockey that wins at this time in the playoffs. If the Habs brass ever figures this out, we may have a chance. I’m sure as hell not going to bitch about it when we’ll need it eventally if we ever want to be successful.
if that was ovechkin or anybody non north american who did that he would be yelling saying how all [insert European nationality] are all dirty scums and blah blah blah.
wtvr.. his 70′s Don Cherry dinosaur mentality doesn’t allow him to actually you know… think

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
You are calling my comments crap? I’ve been complaining? You need to hit your meds pal. You are completely clueless. If you EVER stop complaining about the Refs like the little bitch you are, perhaps you can squeeze some intelligence into the slop you spew on here.
I would love to see a fat sack of crap like you attempt to play some sports. Probably be crying after the first bumb in the corner. It’s extremely clear, you have zero personal experience with competition. You should direct your comments towards things you do know about, like the color pallet of the RDS intermission studio.
Trust me, this series loss has nothing to do with Halak. He actually wasn’t too bad outside of game 1. Made some big saves to keep the score close. Gave them chances to win. When the Flyers treat you like a PeeWee team physically and you score 1 goal in 4 losses (so far), well that’s where the problems start. The Habs are just too soft. If you can’t see that, I’m afraid you really don’t know anything about the game of hockey.
Obviously the reason why we lost this series was Halak was brought back down to earth. We all know he was the biggest reason in winning the Washington and Pitt. series. But this series he has not made the big save when needed. Especially in the 2nd period when through the first 2 rounds we would be able to hang around and around and wait for a chance that has not happened this series. We are getting killed in the second period and hence not getting the 1 or 2 goals we got in the first 2 rounds late in the period and in the 3rd period to win. This sucks though. 17 years to get to the conference final again. How much longer till a Cup celebration again? Doesn’t this bother people? Shit franchises like Carolina, Tampa Bay, Anaheim are better than us(in terms of Cups in the last 10 years)….we need to be more like Detroit, Colorado, New Jersey. Been a nice season but this is what we should expect year in year out like the Red Wings, Devils do….Go Habs Go!!!!
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
I hate to bring you back down to earth, but the reason we lost this series is that we DID NOT SCORE A GOAL FOR THREE GAMES!!! And only one so far tonight.
Can’t win if you can’t score.

Hah! A full rink of North American hockey fans cheering their team’s success with the Olé soccer chant! The Flyers fans need to look themselves in the mirror: they’ve become what they hate! Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster; and when you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. Or something like that. It’s been a fun ride, guys.
Forget the puck or thinking about scoring in the first 5:00. We are going to pound the piss out of them with a view to hurting them. And, I mean, with a view to hurting them.
The second 5:00, we keep up the pounding and try to be opportunistic.
The third 5:00, we press them with a three-man forecheck and run Leighton if we have to.
The final 5:00, we either win, die trying, or hospitalize the Flyers for the Hawks!
Your mind is toast dude if that’s what you think……Look at thier fowards and the size of them then look at the size of our D(after Gill and Hammer) not to big….what do you think would really happen……Halak Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I continue to be amazed by the hard-on so many ppl here have for bashing one player or another.
If it’s not Price vs Halak, it’s the K Bros. or Gomez (really his contract), or Bergeron.
I don’t need to expound on the Price/Halak debate. Suffice it to say that I can be counted among those hoping that we keep both.
AK46 has been one of the few Habs using his size to throw hits. Yet there are people hoping that we trade him and SK74. I would much rather see them both pan out. I hate the idea of wasted draft picks. SK didn’t play on Kane’s line in Jr hockey cuz he sucked.
MAB is one that I believe could probably stand to play a little less, but while others want him out altogether, let us remember what he did for us earlier in the season. With Markov out, he filled in well and our PP was one of the league best. He still has a bomb, but needs to use it more from the point.
I support my Habs start to finish whether that finish is 20 minutes away or more.
Do you understand what the first two lines on a hockey team are? They are the scoring lines. Andre hasn’t scored in like 17 games and he coughed up the puck that led to a goal. Don’t be surprised to see AK and SK gone in the offseason. Plekanec also seems to disappear everytime the playoffs roll around, management may just let him go as well.
Thanks, but I’m no kid – 50 next year. The pic is my son.
Even Mr. Boone proves my point with his last two posts of the 2nd. Gio gets it in front with everyone out of position, but doesn’t shoot, takes it behind the net and never gets a shot. Mr. Boone: “It’s one of those nights”. AK gets one in the same spot and winds up with the same result, but the post is “So sad”. I understand the difference between the two players and Gio sure has earned an occasional pass, but I get the feeling sometimes that AK murdered Boone’s family.
To the other respondent who questioned whether I understood what the top two lines are, I say yes, I do. Remember 2 seasons ago when Canadiens.com had their first play of the year contest. AK was in almost half of the highlights. He has it in him.
Bud, that’s exactly right. I wish one of the sensible Gazette writers would make that a leading story: that fact and the loss of Markov makes us heroes, and nothing less, for being here.
its BS that i have to listen to Bob Cole that old, senile, rotting f**k who’s salary i pay for with my taxes when this idiot sounds like im listening to a Flyers broadcast.
OK: I go away for a week and return to handwringing and misery — even imprecations — relieved only by encouragements of the ‘faint hope’ variety.
All this, yet had the won the last game the series would be tied and the mood would be entirely different. This is what Cammi meant by reporters (& by extension H-I/O commentors) being ‘outcome driven.” A single game separates failure from success in the minds of these types…yet the series still requires four wins.
Scoring in the first 5-10 minutes of a game is our winning formula. They will do that tonight. That fat lady may be singing on the jumbotron but this series isn’t over!
No ifs ands or buts. Looking forward to a desperate effort from the tricolore tonight. Halak needs to find his magical pixie dust that keeps Flyer pucks out of the net.
I thought we were done after going down 3-1 to Washington. At least a dozen times this year I thought we wouldnt even make the post season. When people doubt the most and lose faith this team comes up HUGE!Never give up, never surrender.
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.
As I’ve been saying, we still control our own destiny. As in the first round, one win sends us back home, where a boistrous crowd could propel us to a game 7, which is anyone’s to take. Once again, we play the most important game of the year tonight. I think Halak steps up again tonight and Tomas Plekanec gets going on offence. Habs 3-1.
I have a question, I will be leaving Toronto around 6 after the wedding here. I need to know which radio station the game plays on. Because CJAD and CKAC won’t work.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
From my recollection, you might find it on CBC very low in the AM numbers. There used to be a signal throughout Canada. It will most likely be playing the game in English. But I haven’t been able to see if it is still around for a long time.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
…Mike, Cherry ALSO said …REMEMBER Our Soldiers in Afghanistan that are laying Their Lives on the line …so You and I can sit on Our asses and watch this game
…or, is THAT not as important or interesting to You ?
yes, like they’ve learned that the last 17 years. and does Gainey remedy that? by going out and getting the smallest players he can find. 5’9″? no! they must not be taller than 5’6″!
Yeah, poke a guy for being an enthusiastic optimist who took on the task of getting a bunch of like-minded folks together for a little fun and frivolity.
I was just telling my friend that, the last goal was on him, he had the puck and just casually passed it out to the Philly D leading to the goal. And there are idiots here trying to blame Halak. what a joke.
we still need a power forward of some size, We have not had one for 2 decades,…Our heart filled Koivu & Naslund ,….I love the guys who play for the crest on the chest, but we doo need bigger players,as witnessed in theis series……
we all know if MAB’s name was Berger, he would never play. It bugs the hell out of me that politics play a part in this coach’s mind!
so it’s ok for MAB(the worst Dman to ever be in the NHL) to giveaway the puck 20-30 times/game, and still be playing. god how I despise JM. I wish so hard Boucher could be our coach next year.
maybe if we lose 10 straight to start the season, JM wil be fired. well we can hope can’t we?
Insane?? no insane is coming way out of your net to try and play a puck you have no buisness playing, while leading 1-0 in an elimination game in the opponents rink thats the insane brain camp jaro just commited.
there is NO question he has been the hero of the playoffs and the BIGGEST reason the habs are where they are,but that was the wrong call and it failed miserably…that one is on him…i have confidence he will bounce back we need him to bounce back because he seems a little nervous since the goal and so does the team.
but dont say that it was the right call because it wasn’t. he is the MVP of the playoffs for sure but that does not mean he is imune to criticism.
Anyone blaming Halak for coming out of his net on that goal is insane. Hamrlik was ahead of Richards coming back, but the ref skated right in front of him, forcing him to hesitate and slow down. Halak saw that and went for the puck thinking Richards would get there first. He might the right call, it just didn’t work out.
It feels like we only have 3 players on the ice constantly, not 5. It feels like this team isn’t working well enough together….. Not being able to set up on the PP when they have 4 and we have 5 is pathetic… Everytime we give them damn shorthanded chances. Theres ways to counter that but does JM know? It’s like Philly’s style of hockey JM doesn’t have an answer to..
503 SAVES IN PLAY-OFF FOR HALAK yet still idiots on this site willing to throw him under the bus,PATHETIC! Do me a favor ,just me ….where Price lands next year you follow!
Goaltending and special teams. Always huge in the playoffs. It’s what won us our first two rounds. This series though, our PP has been below-average to abysmal and our goaltending (sad to say) is slightly above average.
Why don’t we play tight and not take offensive risks like with pens and caps… These breakaway chacnes we’re giving them, lost us game 4 and it will lose us this game if something doesn’t get done about it..
you can see why mab was without a job to start the season. i think we’ve squeezed as much lemonade out of that lemon as possible. halak should have stayed in the net, but mab’s reaction to the play back at the blueline resulted in a very slow backcheck.
Why did halak slide on his butt to stop that? Why didn’t he use his stick/glove? There’s no excuse. And why did Hamr decide to drive into him instead of also using his stick? And why did Bergeron not push to get to the net???
All 3 of them caused that goal. A goal that destroyed momentum and just maybe this game
C’mon damnit, get in there and PUSH. Also F the refs, they are screwing this up too.
Doh. It’s getting hard to even start digging through all this Halak-bashing. Hammer shouldn’t have jumped at his goalie in that situation. He basically banged the puck from under Jaro. It’s should be the goalie who dictates the play to his defensemen, not the opposite.
And the save on Asham was great. If he didn’t stay with the play, didn’t stick his leg or his arm, it would be over. We should be happy that it may lift the team, not bash the goalie who supposedly plays poorly. But, what am I to expect – these are the fans, who used to chant: “On veut Larocque!”.
Hammer was side by side with Richards when Halak took Hamrlik out. At worst, Richards would have gotten a contested shot off. Instead, he got to put it into an open net. Absolutely NOT the right call. When is it ever smart for a goalie to charge a guy coming in on a breakaway?
Mike Richards clearly left his feet to deliver a forearm to MAB’s face, and that alone was the play that led to his goal. Absolutely f-ing brutal. How does he get away with this game after game? Refs also missed the Parent high-stick on Moore, as well as when PK’s stick was held behind our net and a couple of other things, yet they called the too many men on the ice that was pretty borderline and an interference on Gorges that was also pretty weak. Boone, noticed you cheered for McCreary/O’rourke before the game, but McCreary was the guy who called Pyatt for goalie interference earlier this series when it was clearly not and O’Rourke is the guy who nailed us for three divings in one game. Fact is that all the refs in this league, even the supposed good ones, have no clue what the hell they are doing any more. The way games are reffed, you can’t put a pinky on someone without being called for interference but you can slash a guy in the face and ram him into the boards from behind and get away with it. That’s the Flyers way of playing and the league is feeding right into their scrubbery. What a dirty dirty team.
So people cannot point out when Halak makes a mistake? If you disagree please explain why.
I agree with you about people saying that Halak ruin the playoffs or that he sux etc… I thought he had a good first period. I believe he also made a mistake on that goal. When the goalie goes out, he HAS to get the puck, if the puck goes past him then it’s a sure goal for the other team. Hammer should have taken the man at this point and he is more to blame for what happened!
what’s really frustrating is the guys on VS have talked about how nice of a hit that was by Richards and how it helped set up the goal. Obviously we’re all habs homers but how is that not elbowing? i was yelling at my dad about that for 30 seconds and next thing I know they score that ridiculous goal and then I threw up in my mouth like boone
Halak made a great play. He came out, timed it right and made the save. It was Hammer who wasn’t watching and banged into him and the puck luckily popped out right to Richards. It was a very good aggressive play. Unlucky about the collision.
The only way that would’ve been a great play is if Richards hadn’t scored. Then, it would’ve been brilliant. He did, and it was therefore not the smartest move. Halak needs to work on his puck handling, he’s great, but it’s weakest part of his game.
Look closely, Hamrlik left both his feet off the ice. He should have seen his goalie coming out and try to avoid hitting him.
Halak did the same thing vs. Cooke in the Penguins series, the D helped him and it turned out to be a good save. We’re completely disorganised in our own end. Unless we build a brick wall (literally, not figuratively), it’s a matter of time.
It wasn’t a mistake at all. He came out and beat Richards to the puck and made the save. If Hammer doesn’t hit him,MTl is going back the other way 5 on 3. it was a good play and good timing, bad luck about Hammer popping him and lucky the puck comes out right to Richards. He then comes back and saves the game on another breakaway on another bad miscue on MTL’s God awful PP.
“geat play”, are you F’ing kidding me. Jaro should have stayed in his net, not skate out to near the blue line like an idiot. When he came into the screen, I went holy s**t, what the hell is he doing. That goal was his fault, it was a pathetically stupid play.
I understand and agree with why Halak came out. My problem is with Hammer and Halak letting the puck get past them. They also need to talk to each other in this situation like Hammer could say “MINE!” or Halak could say the same…
It was unlucky for sure and we will bounce back. The reality is, Halak isn’t to blame for the goal himself.. that was a team effort + the ref!
I disagree that Hammer should have seen Halak. Hammer was chasing the puck and was looking at it (this is what you are supposed to do). If anything, Halak had more of a chance to see the play unfold.
He did the right thing by coming out because Hammer was held back by the ref.
On the other hand – a D-man is way more mobile than a goalie and has more options. But let’s not forget – it’s very easy to analyse the situation second after second after looking at numerous replays. On the ice there’s no time to look through all the options. Anyway, the damage is done.
didnt mena the whole team with the goof remark, just MAB and Laps. 2 lazy plays by both of them on the goals 1 and 3. tired isnmt in ur vocalbulary when facing elimination
didnt mena the whole team with the goof remark, just MAB and Laps. 2 lazy plays by both of them on the goals 1 and 3. tired isnmt in ur vocalbulary when facing elimination
He did it this time to MAB. We all question MAB, but this was not his fault, this was a dirty hit.
He tried to clip Gill in the head last game.
He’s done it to a number of players, most notably David Booth.
And yet the league continues to let him get away with attempts to injure and actual injuries caused. the guy has grit and that’s greta, but he is an incredibly dangerous player and he is the type of guy who will end up paralyzing or killing someone.
wtvr happens i am glad the habs proved the critics wrong.
the habs have done a lot of good in the playoffs and wtvr happens happens.
i am very proud of these guys and i am sure after a few adjustments in the off season we will have a lot to look forward too

Let’s bring her back to Montreal Boys!!!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
apparently someone told hartnell that the t.v show lost is a true story , he’s in his home right now refusing to come out saying “it’s not real , nothing is real !!
Winning the presidents trophy means absolutely nothing and at the end of the day having home ice doesn’t mean a whole lot either.
hopefully they won’t get a chance.
Lstien uo everyone!! We got all f*cking summer for reflection as to how proud we are of the boys, and I’ll be first in line no matter what happens, but let’s save the post mortems for then, not now when we are still in the fight!!!

We are enjoying all the gravy now folks, what a great ride this year.!
Thank You HIO Community—click
you can analize it all you want but the end is the end ( if this is the last game ) in a couple of weeks all but one team will be asking what did we do wrong. great run that we are still in but philly is better , plain and simple.i think a couple of goals here and there from Gomez , Andrei , Pouillot and Pleks and we are prolly in the finals. we are in the third round the pundits have been proven wrong.
Overall, very happy with what this team accomplished given the circumstances.
Just a little tweaking in the summer time will hopefully ensure another good playoff run.
Never been a Martin fan, and I still am not.
Hopefully Huet and the Hawks can crush these Philly twits.
LOL !!!
Haul out the arsenal. If they don’t win, you’ll never forgive yourself.

It is an opportunity for the Flyers to advance tonight, but it is even more of an opportunity for the habs to become legends!!
game 5: 4-3 OT
Game 6: 3-1
Game 7: 1-0 OT
The chi-town. Let’s go boys, it’s your time!!!

Can’t compete with a playoff-styled team? Like the Pens?
FEEL THE PRIDE!
if habs lose will be nice to shave again , my underwear are getting tight.
I think those things will be addressed in the off-season, which I hope doesn’t start for a few weeks!!
go habs go!!

Out on a limb here…there will be a game 6.

Every year I have been fanatical and superstitious about routines, clothes, pictures, figurines etc.

three legged cat ! habs win.
You should NEVER stop drinking beer. Do it for the team. We’re counting on you
)
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The team has actually won every game I’ve watched while drinking beer, so I’ll make sure to do my part tonight
I would like to see this summer the Habs trade their great 2006 first round draft pick and prospect David Fischer to the Flyers for Claude Giroux.
When you say “excellent find”, are you speaking of the poster of the puck bunny?

Go Habs Go.

things can change but if there ever was a game where the first goal is big this is that game….we may need to win this game 1-0.. hope i am wrong but gomez,plecks.ak46 and pouliot give me no confidence at all that they will provide any scoring…if the flyers beat us in the series these four will be a huge reason why that happened …plecks and gomez may have good over all faceoff wins but i wish they had stats on face off wins in our zone when we are pk and in the other teams zone when we are on the pp as it seems to me these two lose a tremendous amount of these face offs.
Damn straight!
Go Habs Go!
That’s right! The worst we can do is the bronze!

If the Habs lose tonight they still deserve a crowd at the airport standing and cheering. Out of 30 teams in the NHL, 27 of them are golfing. The habs are still playing. Darn good season.
Of course, I still hope they win.
What the players need to realize, it is their choice to win tonight or pack it in.
What choice will they make?
Also remember, we have Halak.
I hope you are right and you take your place as ‘les Nostradamus’.
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.

He hasn’t been awful. What were you expecting from him. He is logging a lot of minutes for a AHL rookie. Maybe you should give him a break.
You tend to give up the puck a lot when the opposing team is holding your stick.
He is an AHL rookie and they are going after him. I think he is doing the best he can. There are others on this team that I would be bitching about.
Fine by me.
Philly is going after him fast. But I have confidence in him though.

So do I.
I expect him to play a simple smart game. He was doing that for his first games, he’s gotten away from that this series.

I agree. Outside of game 3, he’s looked overwhelmed.
Maybe a certain goalie should stay in his crease from now on. When hs stays in the blue paint, he looks like a god. When he leaves in, he turns into a devil.
Montreal is actually scared of this team. Must be the mean uniforms.
Can we get a Nobel prize for MAB?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
AK…………….WHAT THE HELL. HE SHOULD BE BENCHED
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
GET HIM OFF THE ICE.. PERMANENTLY!!!
Bergeron is garbage.
Playing MAB vs Flyers is the stupidest move. Every Flyer knows that they can hit him and take the puck away.
mab is KILLING US!
Our specialty teams have been atrocious all post-season. These series they have really stunk the joint and have been the main reason why we’re down 3-1.
#47 again…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
now we know we MAB was unemployed to start the year. i dont care how many goals he scores, he’s too much of a liability. Wheres Schneider!?!?!
Couldn’t try to hit the puck first could you MAB.
I am so sick of AK, and MAB
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Kind of ironic because Washington and Pittsburgh would’ve easily done away with Philly.
It just seems like they are a bad match-up for us.
“Montreal Canadiens would be ill-advised to give up another goal.”
Healy is a GENIUS, I tell you.
lol You are such a child, thats no secret
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
Shoot, you career AHLer, SHOOT!!!
I’m pretty sure that’s Mike Ditka in the Montreal penalty box.
No offense but a .865 sv percentage isnt something that I would say has been great. They are putting the goals away, even when they have less chances. What goes up must go down, I just wish he kept it up for another series…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Well small skilled guys eliminated two of the biggest and most physical teams in the entire NHL in rounds 1 and 2.
I’ve thought that too. Certain teams we just seem to match up better against. Philly’s top four D are probably better than anyone else in the East, and when we’re still struggling to “find” our top six forwards, it’s not a great recipe for success.
Agree 100% CHRISTOPHER!
Again, wouldnt that mean Philly is exactly as good as us since we had the same amount of point in the reg season… Cause obviously there are no elite team left.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Poster’s like this, the Ungrateful Halak basher’s and the free-range teenagers are the reasons why I stopped posting here, nothing has changed I see.
Bryan, my thoughts exactly.
Right on Chris!
Are you listening to the games on radio, lol
Since when did a breakaway, escentially a shoot out attempt, become “unstoppable”. Is it just when Halak is net, or is it for all goalies. If Loungo gave up the same goals Halak has tonight, people would be talking about he choked and had a 4th line grinder, Asham, make him look bad twice. He got lucky the first time when Asham made him look silly, but shot it to high, the second time he beat him.
Yup I was worried about one team but figured NJ would have taken care of them. Nope. Then Boston. I think our guys lost confidence when Bostn lost and saw they were going against Philly….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
…a lot of Ups & Downs …but this was a memorable season We will remember for a long time
…at least I will, Stephen …AND My memory goes back over 60 seasons
…THIS was a season of pure Courage

What happen to Pouliot? He started so well but after Lats’s team wasn’t able to get off to the playoffs he’s stagnated so badly.
Give credit where it is due. Laviolette schooled JM and his posse!
suddenly JM is rolling 4 lines? c’mon! no more pouliot. keep cammy anf gio out there until they puke.
not one quality forward that is 21-23 years old produced by this organization that is why you have to play a career ahl player darche who is 33…
I guess without Halak to bail this team out, they are what they are, too many loafers, to many playres who I guess dont care enough to step up
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
It’s a flyer thing. They did it to Price two years ago, now they’re doing it to Halak.
The team is just getting hammered by the forecheck. It’s way to easy for the Flyers. Big, Tough, physical forwards > small skilled guys. Someone must have forgotten to send the memo to Gainey.
Too many players just ridin’ the train…to many Habs just jerkin’ their chains…
See you on the links guys!
This just in, Arena for Rent Cheap, Wed May 26th. Seats 22,000 ,

… The Dawgs are leading Texas on a goal by Dumont.
The 2nd and 3rd goals were unstoppable, and he made a lot of other great saves.
Philly are taking advantage of our mistakes. Have been doing it all series.
I hope the Haws sweep them.
MAB out there is making me crave Breezer…
Philly completely shut us down. And we are still trying the same thing over and over. MAB isnt helping and only having 2 consistent goal scorers doesn’t help either.
ole ole ole ole . hawks in 6.
And goodbye habbytown, the bigot.
Flyers are getting too comfortable. I see us making a comeback.
Yeah sh**t. One of three out of 30 teams, Total sh**t.
jackass.
The Flyers came back from 0-3 and 0-3.
Can we come back from 1-3 and 1-3?

In Guy Boucher I trust.
Wish we had Latendresse still
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
Habs are giving up on this one… MAB making stupid ass plays doesn’t help us get back into it.
I want to lynch ever single person in the Wachovia center.
Too many men used to be a rarity. Leave it to Bettman to revolutionize the game.
Yes and a couple of cases of Beer from the Molsons…
In Guy Boucher I trust.
It always seems to start with a MAB issued giveaway!
The guy plays like a deer panicked in the headlights even on the PP!
He is the Philly target for sure!
“The three stars as selected by Red Fisher of the Montreal Star:
1st star: Henri Richard
2nd Star: Doug Harvey
3rd Star: Jacques Plante
Final score Detroit Red Wings 5 Montreal Canadiens 3″
I have been saying that for some time now. Look, this run has been incredible and I applaud it. It was done because of unreal performances by Cammi and Halak and could not realistically be maintained. Yet some on HIO continue to say that the Habs are an elite team solely because they are one of three remaining teams. Duh?
PG has a big job this summer in getting this team to be truly elite.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
I was just there with your sister.
i could not disagree more. the feeling of pride i had at putting cindy back in that picture (remember last year’s nhl ads?) was just awesome and i carried it around for days. i am crushed now, but i would never give up that feeling of pride and accomplishment!
same with life… you know, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. i still love my habs!
Game Plan = Shoot on this guy!!!
Well, We got bounced. Im disappointed that we lost, but I can still take solace in knowing the Leafs still suck.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
lol, he showed me didn’t he? shouldve posted that 4 games ago.
We got more than we ever thought possible out of this team this year. Who woulda thought we’d be in the conference finals?
Am I mildly disappointed that the season ended tonight? Yup. But I am insanely proud of what this team brought to these playoffs.
It will be an interesting off season and I look forward to a better season next year, right from the get-go.
Happy Summer all!

Hamrlik gets hooked, no call.
Are the refs worried about this game going to OT???? CALL SOMETHING FUCKERS
the sad thing is MAB did show up.. he’s just that bad.
but like i wrote earlier… we need big guys to compliment our smaller ones.
ak46 and benny were supposed to do that… instead they crapped the bed

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
Yup, that is the question, hard one for the Habs GM. He’s put up the numbers in the reg season, but he seems to disappear in the playoffs. He’s an enigma, wrapped in a puzzle.
LOL! About friggin time!! Forget the fancy plays, tabarnouche!!! Gomer said it ( minus Tabarnouche)
……………………….
YES HABS CAN!!
FEEL THE PRIDE!
It’s man-up time on Plek’s guarantee!
Kinda like the pride Leafs fans get from a mediocre team, it’s pathetic how jaded we’ve become by mild success. I appreciate your comment and agree, those who are proud right now need remember there will be no banner hanging from the rafters after this season.
Dont forget Subban!

HALAK IS BACK. PINCH BOYS PINCH. LEEIGHTON MUST HAVE A LOAF IN HIS DIAPER NOW.
Good job PK. Way to bite down!!!
So Proud of these Canadiens. Im Bummed but proud at the same time this is the longest ive seen them go in the playoffs (yes im part of “That” Generation) and it was great!
on another note guys i wont be sad if they dont come back next season
47,46,74,44
Thats it
Have a great summer see ya at the draft
bleed baby bleed!
Without a doubt. Boston was holding on for dear life. If they made it to the conf finals it would have been an easy series… But, if your aunt had balls shed be your uncle right? haha
-Halak it alot because the Price is right-
Subban the next Captain for the Habs….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
If that’s your attitude as a sport fan, then stop supporting professional sport: you’re dooming yourself (and depressing others) to a certainty of nearly perpetual unhappiness.
If we cant cash in here, i will shoot myself
Subban…awesome drawing the PP
“The ‘System’ will not stop until it owns Lord Stanley’s Cup…All hail the System!”
Yup goin for the ‘hawks. Makes Toronto look even worse if they win

Get that f’n defective stick out there now JM. Right f’n now!!!
I just took a Bettman!
For the love of god don’t put MAB out there on the PP!
No reverse jinx Boone? This might be the last night for Les Canadiens.

WHAT A DIRTY PUKE!
Price and the Kostitsyns to STL for Perron/Backes and Eller?
Stay tuned.
lmao,i was yelling the same thing.
CBC Asking JM what the difference is this series.
The real answer should have been “I was not good enough to prepare my team in this series. I do not know how to win at this level of the playoffs”
GET OUT THE SAND!
HAWKS IN 3
Pleks has basically played himself out of a big contract…playing like a little girl again
Lots of 4s in those numbers
In Guy Boucher I trust.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
Can PG please fire JM for playing MAB ???????
In Guy Boucher I trust.
HUH?????
………………
YES HABS CAN!!
This IS the season!
Bergeron just makes everything suck.
Well not the result any of us wanted obviously.
Prior to the olympic break I did not think the team had a chance to even make the playoffs.
In the end I think taking out Washington and Pittsburgh took too much out of them and they had did not have enough left in the tank.
Hopefully PG can make the right moves in the offseason so we can build on this for next year.
___________ Never date a Flyers fan even if she shaves her moustache!
They have no answers. So scared to get physical
C’mon boys… now
The man has been playing injured for two months.
How does he know?
Pull Halak. This is the season.
Go Chicago Go…..Make Betman Happy you are Americans………no Canadians for this year
Sit MAB… Please Jm…
Whatever happens tonight…PK Subban is awesome
“The ‘System’ will not stop until it owns Lord Stanley’s Cup…All hail the System!”
Fact: Metropolit has been useless for the entire playoffs.

So Metropolit gets tripped, and a player skates into his stick and we get a penalty. Nice.
Mike Boone – you need to look up the definition of hero.
F-U ZEBRA’S
When SK’s biggest advocate says ‘dump him’….HES DONE! I can agree with the assesment though.
______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.
What a lost chance. If that’s the best effort you can come up with 5 on 4, you deserve to go home. Only one moving was Gomez.
We must score now!
Ref, can I have some more cheese with that call?
Well, all the ‘experts’ thought that Habs smurf team would be no where close to the playoffs. All the Leafs fans thought the same. But, the smurfs eventually went to the Conference Finals, eliminating Washington and Pittsburgh.
Pretty good for SMURFS eh? Great season Habs. GO HABS GO!
Too many mistakes…. Cannot do that in this type of game….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
NORCAL HABS FAN
I feel somewhat the same but you have to admit they showed real heart. For a rather punchless, undersized squad they went farther than anyone could imagine and provided some amazing excitement.
Can we keep Spacek??? :S
……………………….
YES HABS CAN!!
Amen, ‘stie.
P.K. just turned 21
piss-poor PP has cost this series
Healey talking like tonight’s game either is a ticket to a bigger paycheck or back to obscurity
How was that a penalty?
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The Habs got further than I expected them too and I must thank them for some edge of seat viewing. Thanks to the HIO staff and members who added some great views on a very up and down season. Too the many trolls who come here to shit and barf f-u-c-k o-f-f.
Gomez does EVERYTHING, and no one supports him. Alone with 4 orange jerseys.
“We didn’t give up and we are not giving up.” – Jaroslav Halak
Looking forward to “About this Season”
Yes… now fire JM!
Why is metro even on the PP, he does nothing and hasnt done for a long time.
moron, JM wasn’t coach of the team in 2008
He is probably playing hurt and if thats the case he shouldn’t have been out there, right handed shot or not.
Time to go all out in the last 7 minutes and prey for a goal. Habs have to try their hardest
They gave us all so much more than we were expecting and so much more than we have gotten since ’93! I just hope the younger fans in Montreal who have never experienced a Cup got a good taste of what it can be like when these guys go on a run. It’s still very special to play in Montreal when you have your game on!
You know… on the PP, we had something going with Subby and then he had to change and MAB came in and completely stunk it up.
So proud of this team. We can hold our heads high. With some tweaking we’ll be ready to make another determined run again next season.
When MAB is on the ice, the Habs are playing one man down
In Guy Boucher I trust.
too expensive for what he brings? Yeah, he is gone.
100% coach. Totally agree!!
Love this team. LOVE them.
Raising a beer to the Habs as I type: BRAVO boys.
I do like the way Josh plays. One high point anyways.
FEEL THE PRIDE!
JM is a confidence killer – he needs to go.
Glad to see Boone’s seeing things rationally. Gomez has been one of the best Canadiens on the ice – goal or not.
Can’t imagine anyone wanting to lose in the second round instead of the third… Were you not able to enjoy the wins in the first two series? If you can’t appriciate those victories then there really is no point in following the team.
It’s a MAB MAB world.
Is anyone else choked by CBC announcers making Leighton out to be Bernie Parent…we make him look good for God’s sake..how many easy shots has he stopped and Bob Cole chokes on a cod fish, like he saved the game..just sayin!
You need to look up the definition of “heroic”.

To Gomez bashers..who creates better opportunities to score in this team??? or simply creates smart plays than him??
…………………..
YES HABS CAN!!
Good summary.
However, I’m not sure how PG can build on what many consider a fluke.
I know he’s been playing hurt because he’s not as good as usual but when it comes down to it, outside of ES we shouldn’t see him with only one good arm.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
You need to have a beer, sit back, and remember what everyone was saying about this team as recently as six weeks ago.
Fact: Almost the whole team has been useless this series. Whoever coaches the PP (Pearn?) should be fired. No plan whatsoever .Also Cammy has been a no show tonight.
It must be a sign..then again 40 kept me entertained with his facial expressions.
I like metro for everything he has done, but he may have just steve begined us.
YOU’D THINK THE D WOULD START PINCHING NOW. WAKE UP JM. THIS IS IT. WAKE UP
Well that was a hell of a season. No quit in the boys up till the end. For a team that barely made the playoffs, not many expected the team to make it this far. My hat is off to them.
Hope to see the Hawks sweep the Flyers.
Even better, imagine how good he’ll be when he turns 22!
100% agree Habscore!
- MAB yes.
Cammalleri
I already said that many times already, but cudos to you for saying it.
Camalleri a give away machine all game. Complete non factor this series. Hurt?
CAN SOMEONE RUSH THE NET MAYBE?
Your posts cater to such a small minority of fellow bitter “Habs fans”. The rest of us want you and your gloating to s t f u. Thanks.
what game r u watching. D are pinching like crazy, we just gave up a 3 on 1. geez
Na, he doesn’t create. He finishes.
No, Pronger.
+1
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
No reason to hold back now guys. Everyone forward, forward!
Thank you Habs for showing me what third-round playoff fever feels like in this beautiful city. I will always, always believe… we’ll get em next year.
My heart is breaking, but I’m still proud of these guys, they really showed us what they were made of.
Where’s my ’10-’11 schedule?
I Will Always Believe
He creates and finishes because no one else can do either.
I’d say :
1- Gomer
2- Markov
3- Cammi (mostly the scorer)
…………………
YES HABS CAN!!
The Blues would laugh Gauthier off the phone
He’s been carrying the offence on his back for two straight series and the fact is we’re missing Markov, the PP quarterback.

STL would be giving too much.
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Gorges should be our captain next year. He is all heart! Anyone else have an opinion.
His size and hitting would have helped.
yup.
gonna miss jacques!!!! rds is gonnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaa suuuuuuccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkk.
GO HABS GO!!
GO HABS GO!!
Heroic? must be talking about Philly comming back from 3-0 and then going onto the cup finals.
Crushing? That sums up my feelings.
and she said you couldn’t get it up
Seriously. Bravo to our Habs!
Too many men… illegal stick… ANYTHING!!!

It’s too bad cause I think
Habs could have given the Hawks a run for their money, a lot like they
beat the Caps and the Pens. I think the Hawks will kill the Flyers.
Good idea, but I like Cammu also.

Habs could have given the Hawks a run for their money, a lot like they
beat the Caps and the Pens. I think the Hawks will kill the Flyers.
Goal scorers get paid 7-8 million a season. Setup guy’s get 3-4 million a season. Gomez isn’t living up to his paycheck, no doubt about it.
Sounds like you’ve been hanging around Canucks fans too much – mediocre is satisfactory in your books? Personally I want a cup win or nothing, anything else is a failure.
Sayonara Habs 2009-2010 season.
Who’s embarrassed? By their own admission we kicked their asses one game. They are a good team. There is no shame in puttg up a good fight against not one, not two, but THREE awesome opponents.
Hugely proud.
Cammy has a great shot and is a good player, but the guy is a total pussy when it comes to a physical environment. Now you know why he wasn’t even considered for team Canada.
JM wasn’t the coach in 2008

Anyways, if you think padding the Molsons wallet is good and losing 10 places in the draft is ok as well…I’m not sure what to even say to that. We’ll just agree that you are a giant vacum of intelligence and leave it at that.

MAB F U DAMMIT!!!
Sigh…
My Heart!
……………………………………………………………….. YES HABS CAN!!
Hey Jaro F Halak – remember that one goal you coughed up?
I can’t wait for Boones assessment of this years Habs it will be a good read.
Congrats to HABS for a great playoff run its been 17 years since i was at the last parade , i thought we had a good chance but deep down flyers to good and way to tough. we lack some depth and other pieces…more on that as we go on with the summer.
Congrats Habs..great job.
Don’t bother to mention anyone you want to keep. Just bitch and moan like usual.
Salute Canadiens…….it was fun while it lasted

GYFHG!!

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
HOW DOES PRONGER GET AWAY WITH ALL THAT SHIT?
MAB is gone, I hope
Hammer will be back next year unless they can move that contract or a buy out. I don’t see him retiring.
Spacek has lost a step but I think he can still be a good 3-4 paired with the right partner.
Pouliot I would give another chance to. He can still be a top 6.
AK & SK I agree with and think that PG should do whatever it takes to ship them off somewhere.

Hopefully after July 1st we’ll never have to think of him again.
C’mon, he’s so not what this team needs, it’s not even funny. Let’s work on improving an already too small and non physical team. Some big wingers who can head to the net to replace Pouliot and AK46 would be a good start.
anyone who bashes Halak doesn’t deserve to be a Habs fan.
Congrats Habs and thanks for an exciting playoff run. Great effort tonight. Really proud of this team.
Great season. Great effort. Great run.
Cheers to all HI/Oers.

Boone, I got a few adjectives for ya.
Dedicated. Resilient. Committed. Plucky. Surprising. Exciting.
None of which would have applied to this team a year ago.
If you but on your realist hat, with this squad, we’ll be lucky to make 8th position. Big changes needed, again.
I dont know if it had made much of a difference but Im puzzled with JMs insistence with playing AK and MAB.
I sort of agree with everything you posted.

Very proud of our boys.
God bless our Habs and our fans.
Lads and ladies,
it has been an awesome season.
Chicago will win because they tanked harder and longer than Philly did.
we will see.
if lets say Markov, Cammy, Gionta, Gill, Spacek wern’t gone for very long periods of time ithink they would have finished hire.
but this year proved that where you finished in the regular season doesn’t matter
wtvr we will see i guess

Mr. Boone uses the mot juste here — join the celebration, stop peeing in our Cornflakes.
No I wouldn’t. I also wouldn’t be surprised if I got critisized when I wasn’t living up to that 8 million.
DRUGS ,EH!
I’m trying really hard to be happy with how far we came..but god. It’s almost unfair,we were so close.
It’s disheartening.
I wanted the win so badly, even if we lost at home…
I’m trying.
Thanks Richards. Chicago in 4

Went down fighting. Habs 4 ever! Go Hawks Go!
Everything that worked in the first two rounds left us. Our d disappeared, Cammaleri stopped scoring, and Halak fell back to earth, becoming good instead of unbelievable. Oh hell. we didn’t deserve to be there anyways.
Why’s everyone leaving? June is a good month for hockey in Montreal
.
I’m still very proud of the team….just hope to not see some of them back next year.

The problem is that if Markov had been in, Subban would not have been there so MAB would still have been useless.
It’ll be an interesting off-season to say the least. I think Pleks, Hammer, both Tits and one of the goalies are gone. Hopefully Markov comes back healthy.
Great playoffs boys!
So heroic i’m sure the flyers are toasting to him as we speak.
Great season… great playoff run… blah blah blah. I want all or nothing, to me this is nothing. Pathetic failure.
If we can get a couple Canadian scumbags we’ll be ok
Missing that nasty hard hitting player all playoffs.

i think that was plekky’s last play as a hab
Chicago will win because they stole Sharp from Phili for nothing, and they’re not relying on Michael Leighton.
Why what has he done for us that makes him “untouchable” ? St. Patrick won 2 cups and even he was run out of town.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
He was the probably the only player who could gain the flyers zone effectively.
if they resign Pleks I’ll be furious
I feel sorry for you man. I really do.
Mr. Boone, could you use your influence with the ‘powers that be’ to arrange some kind of celebratory parade to acknowledge the wonderful post-season that our Habs gave us? I’m sure that thousands of fans would show up.
Thanks for the company!
It was a great season after all. It’s been fun to watch games with you all.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
i think we have a pretty good recipe for a team that needs a few adjustments
we have some small but skilled players in Gomez, Pleks, Cammy and Gionta.
we then put a big player on each line ion Pouliot and ak46.
the problem?
Pouliot and AK46 were both out of it this series for one reason or another.
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
So third out of 30 teams, after 101 games. Injuries, Chris Lee, olympics, MAB… not F. bad. Heroic? Absolutely.
Hawks in 4.
thanks for the year boys. i be very proud of youse. last Canadian team to fall. never gave up. GO HAWKS!
I’d throw that wad of cash at Anton F Volchenkov.
Because the ref’s play favorites… the Habs faced it all playoffs.
The refs are also incomptent in this league.
When will we win a fn cup? When!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sick of losing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have cammy gio and gomer played together yet?

Now that the season’s over, I’d like to know what Plek’s hip injury was since they’ve been mum on it. Could explain why he was missing jump in his game.

It was a wonderful run by a team the media predicted would do nothing, the same media who could not give credit when they did and now it is over. Watch out next year because now the core of the team knows what is possible. See you all in October.
Great season, but man I hate Philly! Hope Chicago crush them in 4!
I love this team! Is it October yet?
Everyone from Sweden, Finland (swedish speaking), Norway, Denmark: Join the Facebook group “Montreal Canadiens Fan Club Scandinavia”!
imagine if we had ryan white in there instead of; softy pouliot, epilepsy46, or injured metro
Yeah we sure could have used him during that 4-min PP. Toews, Kane and Byfuglien are gonna light Leighton up.
Well, dang.

I think the Hawks can take the Flyers in 5 but I’m worried about the Hossa curse.

What a fun ride that was.
Going to be a big adjustment not having the Habs to cheer for now.
Thanks to everyone here for all the great comments and laughs.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Hey Timo and Bugs: GFY’s
Nice summary kempie. Good season boys, second to last team to be eliminated, there’s lots to be proud of.
Here’s to some good off-season moves! Cheers
The Habs have shown that for the first time in years that they have a good foundation to build on, they just need to tweak a few things and gain more depth.
get to the conf finals to get embarrased, id rather us to have lost to pens fighting than get humiliated by the flyers. It’s painful..

Courageous effort. Love em.
JM, read your text message
Trade him. His value is highest right now, the chances of him catching lightning in a bottle again like that are slim to none.
Good god this team can suck sometimes.
Sad thing is Pleks is gonna score a huge contract from some GM.
Don’t go anywhere, J.J. There’s no off-season on HI/O.

Looking forward to the 2010 training camp!!!
It ain’t over til its over. Two goal lead is the worst lead in hockey.
It’s a pleasure hearing from you JJ.

POULIOT & BERGERON FOR THE PRICE OF A PLANE TICKET TO GET THEM OUT OF TOWN.
You sound like a fucking leafs fan – happy with the consolation prize eh? Please tell me what we won this year.
It’s getting late for you. Get to bed.
I’m still proud of what this team has done. But the entire team is way too worn out for this series.
It was a great run! It sucked to lose! But, as a fan of the sport, it’s gonna be great when the Black Hawks win! If it couldn’t be us, they were my pick. Now, the Leafs are the worst of the original six!
They have a great goal song too!

11 grand to get this guy off waivers? Unreal. He’ll never have a bigger series in his career than this one.

Nice job, PK. Way to finally pick a corner, Gomez. About F’ing time.
I just shaved my beard and now I can resort to watching baseball, this sux.
forget the fact that Gomez doesn’t quit, he scored 1 goal in the playoffs. major upgrade on Saku, Bob.

Are we not men or are we DEVO?
Plekanec for sure.
MOTHERF*CK*R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we made it to the conf finals with 2 players who quit on the team (kostitsyns) and no markov, now we just need to add a couple skilled big guys up front, preferably canadians who actually care about hockey, good bye and good riddance to kost bros, thanks for the season habs

I stopped reading when you called Koivu a loser. IDIOT!
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
better late than never gomer!

GOMEZ? WHOLY SHITE?
Yea, his feelingg
Pronger said the the funniest player he ever played with was MAB. I think he meant to say the FUNNIEST PLAYER HE EVER PLAYED AGAINST.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
Hey Ali G, we hadn’t seen you in a while, where ya been? You’re posting a lot tonight.
So bash his play all you want, I agree he sucked in the 2nd half of the playoffs, but without him we wouldn’t even had made the playoffs!
for everyone – including brunet – who’s harping on pleks – he does have a hip injury.
GOMEZ!
What, that Halak can do no wrong, no matte rhow stupid a move he makes?
No, the point that you hate him no matter what, so your words are like so much hot air.

That’s crap. It’s obvious that he’s the only reason we’ve gotten this far, but that doesn’t excuse him when he makes boneheaded plays.
You seem to have extreme outbursts of joy anytime Halak let’s in a goal or makes a mistake. Calling him a moron is beyond unfair.

well… here it goes. Let’s win this one, and then worry about #6.

Hamrlik: Thank you.
What is Halak doing?
So now the ref literally stops Hamrlik from winning the footrace to the puck. HORSE MANURE.

wtf why no penalty there and then the ref gets in the way causing a goal. Tough to beat the flyers and the refs….buttman at it again. If the habs lose I can’t wait to see Chicago totally destroy the flyers. Richards no class dirty player. JM this is why we need some tough bangers in the lineup, larocque could have went out there and busted some heads…..

Come back and tie then win in OT. Hows that for faith in the boys and yes sit MAB.
Gomez = Useless
7 million per season of useless.
anyone know if it’s possible to get stanley cup tickets?
Two in the 3rd and then we only need 1 in overtime.
that’s a bs icing call. two flyers could have reached that puck.
SMASH THAT FISHTANK OFF THAT MELLON !!!
I got two in Chicago!
how?
just think. if only this team had beaten Carolina, NYI, or the leafs. you reap what you sow.
and next year because of Gomez’s contract, no cap space to sign a scorer.
oh wll we can always get some retreads like Breezer or Mab. they’re good for a laugh.
but seriously this franchise is in deep s*t. unless they unload Hamrlik, and Halak, where will scoring come from? you can’t have only 2 scorers -Cammalleri and Gionta.
wow did Gainey ever kill this team with his ridiculous and long contracts. Gainey you suck!
If I were JM, I would’ve started Price this period to give Halak some rest before game 6.

Hey JM, might be a ggod time to start pinching your D. Try something different for christ’s sake
But if it is we owe the Bruins Big Time. They coulda just played one great period and beaten Phillies and then our desting WOULD have been fulfilled and we woulda been gentle about it.
I hope we beat them in every game next season and make them miss the playoffs.
very proud of the team this year.
how they battled through injuries throughout the season and how they defeated the caps and pens.
no matter what happens the rest of the period very positive about the heart of the team.
Gomez is such a MONEY player just not in a good way.
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”
We have to get a goa my god we have to make them pay, weve done not much to make the flyers work, its definatley not for lack of heart, were gassed, weve lost the touch but im not givin up until its done!
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
bye bye pleks!

how did that not go in?
F’ing quick whistles for the flyers.
He’s a money player when his team can win the Cup without him!
Watch your mouth he wears my colours!
Philly can ice it and get penalties all day, Habs won’t score..
That means so much.
he never had control of the puck…
HOW! you got it now! Me Blackhawks, How. Go in peace!
(My friend has some for me.)
well… he should’ve!
totally agree… thoise who want to be pessimists can log off now
Yup, I must be a Leaf fan.
Don’t give me that crap. You’ve been bitching out the Habs since you’ve created your account you damn clown.
You’re a joke and your comments are absolute crap, every single time.

Awww, did me telling the truth and what everyone thinks about you strike a nerve?
Keep crying, dude.
Seriously, stop claiming to be a Habs fan. You are giving everyone in Montreal a bad name.

but my point is your double standard towards “good canadian boys” and how you like to call it Russian Scum.

I suggest wearing glasses!
This is a hockey game pussy. Perhaps you should re-evalute which sports you watch.
I’m good, but you should definitely re-evaluate which team’s message boards to post on you stupid bastard Laff.
You are fooling yourself if you think they can build on this next year.
This was that once in a blue moon run… and they have fallen short so far.
Look at the stats for geeting here 2 years in a row… not in our favour
Too many passengers right now. Need more BIG changes for next year.
The 2 K’s have to go and we need a BIG winger that can score… like a Marlow.
Look, it’s been an incredible run. No one was expecting them to get this far, and they are set up for more suprises next year.
But this one is DONE.
if they win every game 1-0 or 2-1,,,next years team will be worst in scoring than this one
If you can’t see that, I’m afraid you really don’t know anything about the game of hockey.
what is with the 2nd period melt downs
FIRE JM!
They know our every move on the PP
will the flyers please just injure MAB already????
Oh Captain my Captain…
painful.
Common guys !! We’re onyl halfway..

YES HABS CAN!!
On the bright side, maybe MAB’s last game with Montreal.

http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Hey why not try SK on the PP? Oh yeah we have Darche. DOH!
“Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.”

PK misplayed that one badly.
SK is useless. Darche is 10 times the player SK will ever be.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I hate to bring you back down to earth, but the reason we lost this series is that we DID NOT SCORE A GOAL FOR THREE GAMES!!! And only one so far tonight.

Very, if not for a weak goal, we would be getting shut out again, Our O is so weak

Yes, the fact that Pouliot, Gomez, Plekanec, Ak haven’t scored a goal in 16+ games is clearly Halak’s fault right?
Can’t decide who I dislike the most, MAB or AK46……
Everyone from Sweden, Finland (swedish speaking), Norway, Denmark: Join the Facebook group “Montreal Canadiens Fan Club Scandinavia”!
Once we replace the dead weight by real players, we will make it to the Cup finals.
Philly gameplan is very simple make MAB handle the puck in either end and score off the turnover!

A lot of players’ last game with the team.
Plan for Winning in the 3rd:
LOL. Keeps getting better and better.
Easily to say. To beat the 2 best and lose to this garbage. TABARNAC
Time to start work…go Habs.

I suppose that was Halaks fault right?
This is BS who the heck is MAB doing to stay on the ice? Can;t stop a puck, can;t hold a stick? hasn;t scored in eons!
This is awful. If we don;t get anyting going soon we my be going to meadowbrook tomorrow!
Lets go Habs!!!!
I just want someone to whack that Aquarium off Carter’s face.

You’re a good kid
Of course it was.

OK Gio, you chew on Prongers left knee and Cammy you can bite off his right leg!!
Go Habs Go !!
Halak is not the reason.
They stopped playing like a team. They stopped playing all out. Many of them stopped playing with heart, not all.
Those who stopped playing should be looking for a new team by July.
Bye Bye AK, SK, MAB, Benny, Merto ( like Meto, but he his not bringing it in the post season)… who am I missing???
its BS that i have to listen to Bob Cole that old, senile, rotting f**k who’s salary i pay for with my taxes when this idiot sounds like im listening to a Flyers broadcast.
Oh Captain my Captain…
A PP goal puts us right back in it, while a shortie (much more likely) effectively finishes us.
And all the retards are saying this game is over. Lets wait and see o.k. There is half a game to be played and we are only down by two goals.
yes & the prognosis isn’t too bright ,when they haven’t scored ANY in 3 of the games so far.
he’s dirty, i thought it was a penalty, but you know Colim Campbell. No harm no foul embodied.
Oh Captain my Captain…
No, the Flyers broadcast is on Versus.
They wouldn’t let him play there either. Its a mens league.
how bout MAB loafing back on that goal. This guy should be playing in Quebec Mens league, ffs!
Let’s go MAB.
Regardless of what happens tonight, the Habs have a good heart. PG just needs to find some powerful limbs.
Like I said, a guy who will deliver that questonnable hit.
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Game’s not over.

Boone,
Here’s your little Habs pussy cat in the corner of a do-or-die game.
(Hopefully)
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Scoring in the first 5-10 minutes of a game is our winning formula. They will do that tonight. That fat lady may be singing on the jumbotron but this series isn’t over!
Well, what if this young lady was sitting behind Halak’s nets?
…I am JUST goin’ to watch, be proud …and enjoy
…no matter the out-come (…though would be more in a state of ‘orgasm’ if We managed to WIN …but THAT’s another story)

No ifs ands or buts. Looking forward to a desperate effort from the tricolore tonight. Halak needs to find his magical pixie dust that keeps Flyer pucks out of the net.
What, me worry?! No…

I thought we were done after going down 3-1 to Washington. At least a dozen times this year I thought we wouldnt even make the post season. When people doubt the most and lose faith this team comes up HUGE!Never give up, never surrender.

Can we get overly-dramatic if they lose by one goal?

As I’ve been saying, we still control our own destiny. As in the first round, one win sends us back home, where a boistrous crowd could propel us to a game 7, which is anyone’s to take. Once again, we play the most important game of the year tonight. I think Halak steps up again tonight and Tomas Plekanec gets going on offence. Habs 3-1.

I have a question, I will be leaving Toronto around 6 after the wedding here. I need to know which radio station the game plays on. Because CJAD and CKAC won’t work.
“I gotta feeling…that tonight’s gonna be a good night!”
AM640 (flagship of the Leafs) in Toronto is carrying the game.
From my recollection, you might find it on CBC very low in the AM numbers. There used to be a signal throughout Canada. It will most likely be playing the game in English. But I haven’t been able to see if it is still around for a long time.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
… David S. tweets that Bill McCreary & Dan O’Rourke will ref tonite’s tilt.
at the start of a pk plecks looses almost every draw
Lol, Pronger, who doesn’t hit all the time, goes after Darche as soon as he sees that Darche isn’t looking…
Pronger is the biggest pussy 6’6″ retard you’ll ever see in hockey. Also was afraid of taking a Lappy hit…
That’s a REAL hockey player, everyone.
If Phily makes it it will be interesting to see Byfuglien vs Pronger….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Dude. You have SERIOUS short term memory issues.
Big changes? Really? pff
Like Marleau who is golfing today?
Unfortuneately a lot better than Ian’s Cup celebration after 2 series. That’s why I was saying don’t get too cocky.
What to f , you wanted action here it is, it seems that the collision actually helped Jaro to get magic back…
Just get some pieces behind Leighton and go home…

This would be a far different series if we had Markov in and Bergeron out!!!

Let’s hope.
Amazing. Getting killed by a former plugger and a former goaltender.
Agreed. Our powerplay is horrific.
I can’t take this. I have to listen to the TV, I can’t watch.
AK 46 again
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Out with a whimper.
Now that one Halak has to stop.
Bad time for Gill to make a play like that.
I’m not one to cuss but when the f*** is AK46 going to get benched? He is the laziest, most unengaged NHL player I’ve seen since…??
Gionta… think before you pass.
i hope this is the last game AK46 plays for this team
And another that Halak has to stop.
FFS!

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
i hope i nver see a kostitsyn in a habs jersey again
Lost our poise.
Habs utterly and completely destroyed this round. Looks like you *do* needs physical players to beat physical teams. Lesson learned. Hopefully.
TO to settle the team down, what a good idea, wish they’d thought of that last game…

Disagree ,size difference way to much fo Habbies!
Jaro made the first move and committed to moving to block the 5-hole while the puck was still on Asham’s stick. Essentially, he froze himself.

How’s those plans for the big Cup celebration you were planning before the series?
riiiiiiight
a player all alone with tons of time to make a decision, all alone with TONS of time and its Hlaks fault.wow
yes, like they’ve learned that the last 17 years. and does Gainey remedy that? by going out and getting the smallest players he can find. 5’9″? no! they must not be taller than 5’6″!
Yeah, poke a guy for being an enthusiastic optimist who took on the task of getting a bunch of like-minded folks together for a little fun and frivolity.
What a sad world you must live in, dude.
How are your plans for several days of going ‘ha ha ha, the team lost and I was right’ posts going?

Asham outwaited Halak, who committed first. After that pad twitch, it gave Asham all of the space he needed to go around his leg.

Agreed, but you know we’re not allowed to expect Halak to make saves.
I was just telling my friend that, the last goal was on him, he had the puck and just casually passed it out to the Philly D leading to the goal. And there are idiots here trying to blame Halak. what a joke.
He’s been working on them since October.

MAB better hide his face when hes walking on the streets of MTL, cause if i see him im gonna mug him make sure he never plays hockey again
.::moen for captain::.
we still need a power forward of some size, We have not had one for 2 decades,…Our heart filled Koivu & Naslund ,….I love the guys who play for the crest on the chest, but we doo need bigger players,as witnessed in theis series……
Lehtonen getting 3.55 mil per year?! WTF!!
Last time I checked we only hang Stanley Cup banners in Montreal.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
If you don’t win the cup, it don’t mean sh^&t!
we all know if MAB’s name was Berger, he would never play.
Asham is a UFA we should go after him, oh yeah we had him….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
What a save by Jaro. I can’t believe there are idiots here calling him a moron after all hes done for this team.
OK, how the F**K do we let Aaron Asham in on a breakaway?

Insane?? no insane is coming way out of your net to try and play a puck you have no buisness playing, while leading 1-0 in an elimination game in the opponents rink thats the insane brain camp jaro just commited.
there is NO question he has been the hero of the playoffs and the BIGGEST reason the habs are where they are,but that was the wrong call and it failed miserably…that one is on him…i have confidence he will bounce back we need him to bounce back because he seems a little nervous since the goal and so does the team.
but dont say that it was the right call because it wasn’t. he is the MVP of the playoffs for sure but that does not mean he is imune to criticism.
Agree…makes me sick.

Montreal is just trying the same thing that never works against the Flyers. They trying it over and over and over and over….
Save? Asham had him beat, and fired it over the net. Just cause Jaro threw his glove up doesn’t mean he had it.
Hall Gill pinched.
I could go for a burger and a goal. C’mon Habs gimme one of the two.
I’m beginning to hate Bergeron as much as the Flyers.
Watch a replay JM. He got a piece of it with his glove. Good save actually.
FEEL THE PRIDE!
Went off his glove. So, yeah, that’s a save. Your bias blinds you.
I’ll buy you the ‘effin burger, if the Habs do their part.

Richards and Pronger make me embarrassed to be Canadian sometimes.
Halak’s glove sent it over the net. Halak had Asham beat.
503 SAVES IN PLAY-OFF FOR HALAK yet still idiots on this site willing to throw him under the bus,PATHETIC! Do me a favor ,just me ….where Price lands next year you follow!
saved it with his glove…grade one level iq one
Goaltending and special teams. Always huge in the playoffs. It’s what won us our first two rounds. This series though, our PP has been below-average to abysmal and our goaltending (sad to say) is slightly above average.
It was a great save. He got a piece of it with his glove. Saved Gill and the teams ass for the 1000th time.
It went no where near his glove.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
An observation – the captains we’ve faceed in each series have been puling, whining little suck-ups – makes me glad we didn’t name a captain.
That felt like 40 minutes.
OK if everyone saw it and I didn’t. GREAT SAVE JARO.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
I do not get the MAB love JM is showing…It makes no sense to put MAB in such an important game…
Halak isn’t the only one to blame on the goal but he did make a mistake. That puck should not have gone past him…
Not a big deal we are still in this!
Bring back Zone de Match!
It was an unfortunate sequence of events. I really think the one thing Halak will need to work on the most is his puckhandling.
Now Don Cherry says we were being jerks about the Game 3 PP, what about the Filth in Game 1? Such a bitter old crank sometimes.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
It is what it is. The key is that the Habs have to get three tonight. Halak will hold the Flyers at two.
I started a while ago.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
The replay from behind the net made it look like it went off of the crossbar. But whatever… at least it didn’t go in.

Hamrlik didn’t “jump” at his goalie, it was the other way around.
JM’s logic is hard to follow….
In Guy Boucher I trust.
Can one of the media please ask Gauthier about David Fischer’s prospects in the organization seeing how Giroux is kind of dominating this series?
Thanks.
what’s really frustrating is the guys on VS have talked about how nice of a hit that was by Richards and how it helped set up the goal. Obviously we’re all habs homers but how is that not elbowing? i was yelling at my dad about that for 30 seconds and next thing I know they score that ridiculous goal and then I threw up in my mouth like boone
I’ll buy everyone burgers if we win the Cup.
I agree with you. Halak made a mistake in letting the puck go past him. It’s unlucky but that is a mistake.
Hammer and our forwards made worse mistakes on the play but the ref takes the cake on that one! What a douche.
Question, I’ll bet skill and talent wise, Benny and Giroux are around the same so, what makes Giroux so much better
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Halak made a great play. He came out, timed it right and made the save. It was Hammer who wasn’t watching and banged into him and the puck luckily popped out right to Richards. It was a very good aggressive play. Unlucky about the collision.
MAB SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING ANYTHING BUT POINT ON THE PP!!!! PERIOD!!!!
speed
I feel sorry for your child you goddam idiot.
you just wait exit.
Fischer will come in next season and leave PK in the dust
——————
“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”
I couldn’t agree with this more… The same guys get away with the same bullshit game in and game out. Typical in a league that’s run by a moron.
I mean the NBA figured it out, why can’t the NHL??!!
The only way that would’ve been a great play is if Richards hadn’t scored. Then, it would’ve been brilliant. He did, and it was therefore not the smartest move. Halak needs to work on his puck handling, he’s great, but it’s weakest part of his game.
You seriously are goddam clueless. Teabagger.
Get lost, bigot.
Bring back Zone de Match!
Shut the F up you moron, don’t you have a goat to go bang, you douchebag loser.
You mean Montreal, I can do that. It really does pain you haters that Price will be back next year, sad.
On the other hand – a D-man is way more mobile than a goalie and has more options. But let’s not forget – it’s very easy to analyse the situation second after second after looking at numerous replays. On the ice there’s no time to look through all the options. Anyway, the damage is done.
Bring back Zone de Match!

Answer: no.
…what a sorry reflection on Quebec’s QMJHL !
…ONLY 4 players out of 100 top-listed for this year’s Draft are out of Quebec
…2 defencemen (…one out of HARVARD U, for hell’s-sake !) …and 2 goalies
…very sad indeed
