I signed up, but have yet to receive my confirmation email.

  2. punkster says:

    On my way 😉

  3. JD_ says:

    Ok. I’ll let it slide.

I had visions of Jerry O’Connell in Stand By Me.

  4. geo_habsgo says:

They say it in Superbad? :(

  5. Ed says:

Good luck with that team Timo, but you have to give them at least 20 games to gell.

  6. yathehabsrule says:

Hey Mike, ask Hickey which was a better deal, Kordic for Courtnall or what he got for the Civic!

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  7. _Habsoloutly_ says:

I vote for all of the above.  PK is a stud!

On a side note,  I just saw the clip where PK stepped on Staal,  and he was skating backwards and couldn’t even see what he was doing.  So how the hell do the idiots in Pitt’s claim he’s “dirty” because of that?  what a load of BS.

  8. Habstilidie says:

Which will probably be within the first 5 minutes!

    Good point, Kevin!

  12. SeriousFan09 says:

So, whose face will PK be in tonight, Vinny, Stamkos, Marty?

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  13. andrewberkshire says:

What’s happening is that JD_ and I organized the registration on that website. You have to go to Hurleys to do it Dave. I promise we’ll meet you there.

  14. notbigbird says:

Roger Doucet came to the school where I was teaching in Sarnia back in the day. Sarnia was more or less a split betwen Toronto and Detroit fans but he was well received and appreciated.

  15. SeriousFan09 says:

As long as he promises to retire in 4 years so we aren’t paying declining superstar salary until he’s 40.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  16. yathehabsrule says:

Have you seen the car?Trust me, PVH got a steal of a deal! ;P

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  17. larisalapointe says:

Love the title of Chris Boyle’s article. hahahahahaha

Habs 5-0 (gotta think big) in any case will be exciting to watch.

  18. andrewberkshire says:

All Hickey got for that was $420? Thought he’d get at least a grand.

  19. Habstilidie says:

It’s been going off at 4:20 since I was 20.  11 years later, I can’t seem to change it!

  20. Habstilidie says:

Agreed Geo!  I’d rather 0 points tonight and a win by the boys!!

  21. geo_habsgo says:

    thanks man!

  22. _Habsoloutly_ says:

420 am huh?  could be a sign.

  23. geo_habsgo says:

Samesies. I want him to do well cause of the pool but I also want Carey Price to be squeaky clean for the team. Only problem is that my opponent has price on his team :s lol

  24. C3P1 says:

vinny for gomez…we need a franc more than ron burgundy needs his scotch

  25. punkster says:

    I smell conspiracy.

  26. Habstilidie says:

Drop the puck already!!!  I’ve been waiting since my alarm went off at 4:20am this morning.  I always love a good tilt between Les Boys and Tampa for some reason, it’s always a spirited affair.  4-3 habs, Vinny with 2, only cause I have him in my pool 😉

  27. geo_habsgo says:

I know it has probably already been asked but does anyone know where I can catch the game online tonight? Writing an essay so I won’t be getting close to a tv. I am really excited for this game it should be a nice free flowing game between two fast, skating teams!

  28. Keith says:

The whole 3 stars being picked by the fans is a bad idea imho.

Raring to go for the game tonight. Missed last saturdays game unfortunately, so I hope we can pull off a W.

    GO HABS GO!!!

  29. SeriousFan09 says:

I used Gill because of the height thing but yeah, Gorges would pretty much be a Canadian Nick Lidstrom.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  30. Chorske says:

    Gill and Gorges both.

  31. Chorske says:

Yeah, me too. I assumed it was a blockage here at work- some content on some sites gets blocked here- but I guess I will have to do it from home.

  32. SeriousFan09 says:

That’s what ticks me off, ***holes who luck into talent. I always say if character = talent, Hal Gill would have Pronger’s talent.

  34. punkster says:

Anyone experience difficulties registering for the 3 star thingy on the Habs site? And I have yet to consume alcohol so it’s not me.

  35. OneTimer says:

Is that Jay from Jay & Silent Bob?

  36. SeriousFan09 says:

Downie is what worries me tonight, so far we dodged Armstrong and Cooke, but Downie’s just as much a garbage player as they are for hitting, than we have to deal with Kaleta on Friday night.

League scheduled us against us as many cheap shot punks as possible to start the season, surprised we don’t have a Flyers game on Saturday rather than Ottawa.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  37. TheDagger says:

Put me down for envying him…. playing for the Habs. Oh, and making over $30,000 tonight wouldn’t be shabby.

  38. C3P1 says:

um, washingtons top 6 is far better I imagine.  I dont think its that close either, partially becuase downie and malone have yet to prove they are good on their own/can do it for a full season

  39. fun police says:

maybe PG knew something that some of the commentators on here thought they knew about , mike comrie expected to be a healthy scratch tonight.  even pierre lebrun was gushing over that signing.  one problem, comrie hasn’t been good in quite a while.

  40. Malreg says:

Is there a better top 6 in the conference? Maybe, but more importantly, is there a worse Defense in the conference?  The 6 D from their 1st game: Hedman, Kubina, Clark, Jones, Lundin, and Vernace.

  41. petrov14 says:

LOL I didnt even notice that!

  49. Timo says:

I love people I work with… I couldn’t make it to the draft today so I asked one of the guys to make picks for me. My entire roster is composed of either Habs or Leafs with exception of Malkin. I even got Hal Gill… he’s gonna be a major point getter for me.

  52. fuhgawz says:

Our bottom six is going to be the deciding factor of the game tonight.  Boyd, Pyatt, Laps all score tonight.

Nervous points of the game for me will be Hammer — i expect him to screw up a couple times untill he gets back his feel for the game.

Price — question for the HIO mass – Does anyone envy the position this guy is in tonight??

    Not me.

  53. Sakus Evil Twin says:

Anyone know where Eller starts tonight?

I’m hoping he picks up where he started off against the Laffs. Mainly cuz I drafted him in my pool. But otherwise, y’know, so that our Habs come out on top.

    This is an intriguing matchup…

No answers, just opinions. Bite me. Och.

  54. MathMan says:

It really alarms me that it’s always “up to Price”, because it means the rest of the team just can’t get good enough to be a factor and they need to be saved by exceptional goaltending all the time. This is a huge problem for this club, and its roster is good enough that it shouldn’t be.

  55. SeriousFan09 says:

Saw that already, was laughing my ass off.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  56. RJB says:

Also, you know it’s the beginning of the season when Hammer can work a spin.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  113. pathockey1 says:

I’m actually liking Pouliot tonight. He’s getting alot more chances than he usually gets and that can only lead to good things once he regains his confidence.

  114. kempie says:

    Amen to that.

  115. Shiloh says:

Very slow reloading and posting tonight. Benny is haveing a bad game, but AK46 is playing solid. Price has been solid.

  116. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

God damnit I missed Andrei’s goal and Price’s big save!

Man, I like the fact that we’re winning, but we’re not playing good.

  117. geo_habsgo says:

Might not be any blowouts so far these first few games but I am liking the Habs so far this season. Seems to be a real team out there. They knew they let Price hang out to dry on that one and they came right back and answered Tampa. This is the way to go.

  118. Chuck says:

    Topical AND funny!

  119. JIMVINNY says:

Eller has been fantastic tonight. So good with the puck, smart decisions, and playing very tough. Loved the hit on Vinnie.

1 point is better than 0.

  186. andrewberkshire says:

Most undeserved win in the history of hockey. Referees should be ashamed of themselves. What a ***ing joke. I guess they decided to get their eyeballs drilled out before the game for fun. What utter HorseSH!T.

  187. Aybara says:

Bullshit… That’s 3 points taken away from the Habs.. If the habs don’t make the playoffs by 3 or fewer, Van Massenhoven needs to be hunted down.

  188. TripleX says:

Tough loss, Price deserved better.  But I love the relentless forecheck of Tampa.  Boucher has them playing entertaining hockey for sure.

    ‘Cogito ergo doleo’

  189. habs001 says:

bad calls true ..but to be otplayed this bad for the home opener…i think we need to play teams that “outmatch” us…how is this team have any chance vs the flyers

  190. Danno says:

Those refs should be drawn and quartered.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  191. dpthehabsfan says:

I don’t usually criticize the refs, but the whole sequence leading up to TB’s tying goal was poorly called.

  192. kempie says:

Well said. What a fing embarrassment for the game. PK gets 2 mins for being up by a goal in the home opener with 2 mins left.

  193. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

So pissed off, this game to deserved to end at 3-2.

  194. Ian Johnson says:

The refs sucked but what is wrong with Martin that he can’t get the shots down? This was absurd–almost 50 shots against? Is this a strategy of some sort? It’s insane. We’re not going to win many games if we let the team waltz into our end rush after rush and bombard the goalie.

  195. habs youngtimer says:

2 observations. aside from the fact that habs aren’t a very good team, I have a bone to pick with Subban and Pouliot.

    1) Poulishit should be off this team. aside from the fact that he can’t score, he is A DEFENSIVE LIABILITY!

    2) Subban is HORRIBLE DEFENSIVELY! he can’t just rush all the time, giving the opposition odd man rushes. he needs to stay at home more. he is killing us defensively.

habs will lose more games than they win. they are awful at clearing the puck, and inept offensively.

they need to take a lesson from the UNBEATEN LEAFS.

  196. duffy says:

How many times does this team always find a way to lose a game in the last five minutes. Subban took a very dumb penalty and cost them the game.Carey Price played a whale of a game.

  198. JasonM says:

I’m shocked. It only took 3 games for the Refs to start costing the team points.

BTW, I like how the EXACT same things we got called for during the first 40 minutes didn’t apply to the other team when they got away with bloody murder on the ice.

Boyd wasn’t tripped however, it was a good stick on stick. However, it was CLEARLY interference as he impeded to get to the puck.

    Price was very solid.

  199. habaholic68NJ says:

Price stands on his head and the refs fix the ending. We all saw it.

I want to also put some of the blame on JM as the refs were not responsible for 47 shots on goal.  It is JM so called system which is outdated for today’s NHL.  Pathetic.

  200. Xtrahabsfan says:

    Classic  end o game collapse,excuses is for whiners.Nothing changes…..

  201. HabFanSince72 says:

Sad to say but there was probably no penalty on that tying goal.

The real problem is we’re getting dominated again just like last year. Plus we are taking stupid penalties, in every game.

We deserve to be 0-3 at this point in the season.

  202. Ian Johnson says:

And we’re still waiting for Gionta and Gomez to show up. Gionta -2 and invisible. Gomez was like a parody of himself–great skater but no hockey sense. Not dangerous at all.

  203. Harani says:

That’s what an OFFENSIVE defenseman does. He’s not Hal Gill or Josh Gorges. He has the speed and hockey sense to come back. And he’ll learn from playing a few games.

    “It must be love!”

  204. coachdoug says:

Tough loss….refs decided it…Overall the Habs looked good…wait till we get Markov back…

    Price was excellent…Plek was excellent…

“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”

  205. floatingineather says:

refs make this an amateur hour

  206. Captain aHab says:

Just saw the third but the Gomez line needs something and it ain’t Benny.

  207. HabsMitch says:

Vintage Habs, beast goaltending and no offensive support

  208. SeriousFan09 says:

Price gets a game stolen from him, disgusting.

Phantom on P.K. and Gionta hooked down in OT to deny Habs 4-on-3… Yzerman got favouritism status early from NHL, PIT had to wait a few years to get it.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  210. king ddd says:

folks wtf is going on the laffs are undefeated! and who the hell his clar mcarthur?!

  211. habs001 says:

based on the last 2 periods we can easily say most undeserved one point…all week posters were saying tampa has 2 lines no d …wow ..what happens when we play a real team

  212. Mr.Hazard says:

    So is TB!

  213. spoonfullofjelly says:

tough loss, Subban’s gotta think from time to time……I’m not talking about that penalty

    Gomez has to show up

And Finally, hold the goddamn lead.

  214. Norm0770 says:

Pouliot might be the best player on that line so far this year.  Gomez and Gionta have been invisible.

  215. showey47 says:

How’s that for some garbage officiating? Price deserved alot better.

  216. Bob_Sacamano says:

Entertaining game, ruined by a complete bullshit call. Third game of the season, already 1 point stolen by the refs. What´s new?

  217. danedmunds says:

blame the refs all you want but that’s on PK. he’s out of control.

gionta, gomez and pouliot were terrible. think burke would take that crap from gomez? what a joke. same thing every year no matter who the players are

  218. scrowe21 says:

Well that was BULLSH*T. what was that call on PK even for? I didn’t see anything..

Nice goal by AK though, glad to see him get one. Pleky and Price played amazing again. screwed by the refs

  219. coachdoug says:

I agree…Take that $450 Hickey got from Philly and put a down payment on a new one

  222. kempie says:

please stfu and go suck your truculence somewhere else.

  223. Harani says:

I just feel bad because I really think Price deserved better. Was alert all game and was the best he could be. We got a point for him but seriously, the refs ruined this. That call on PK should have never been called and even if it were, there was a call on Boyd that was missed (if PK gets a penalty for that slash, Malone gets this one)

And I will personally punch anyone who blames for this call. Almost smashedd my radio when someone blamed Price. Did you hear him? John: ” Price played well but he just doesn’t get things done.” You seriously need to get your head checked!

    “It must be love!”

  224. TripleX says:

I can’t agree with your assessment.  Getting outshot 47 to 27 at the home opener is brutal.  They left Carey out to dry and he almost saved their collective a$$e$.  They have to get better or else Price won’t last the season.

    ‘Cogito ergo doleo’

  225. SeriousFan09 says:

People can say that the team blew this, but the fact is sometimes one man lifts a team up, with a hat trick, an OT goal, whatever, they just steal the game. Price was in position to do this until the officials took it away from him. It’s crap and I’m tired of officials that can’t just call the game.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  226. topher5468 says:

It really is a replay from last year, Outshot, outchanced, out everything, but great goaltending lets us hang around. I blame JM for this loss. Make some in game adjustments to get the offense going. Do something other than stand around and write things down on your Pu$$y pad.

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  227. Harani says:

And those who are wondering about Malone getting the first star. If someone scores in OT, they are automatically the first star.

    “It must be love!”

  228. Sheldon says:

If this team had a modicum of truculence, they’d be 3-0 like the Leafs!

  229. Chuck says:

One very good game and two excellent games for Carey = a 1-2 record. I’m starting to see a pattern here, and I’m not liking it.

  230. Sheldon says:

Well PK, i.e. “Point Killer,” didn’t help things tonight.

  231. Larry says:

i did not see what they possibly could have called Subban for on that penalty. This is really starting to smell. Cherry started it on Saturday with the someone is going to put him in his place rant. I think this is a case of how dare that cocky black kid come in here disrespecting his superiors. I thought this league was better than that. The end of that game was a disgrace.

  232. saskhabfan says:

Yeah,a 6 on 4 is a typical end of game collapse.  Stop posting hockey and stick to your regular job as the glory hole “attendant”.

  233. Chuck says:

Sitting back with the lead sucks. You’re just asking for trouble.

  234. TripleX says:

How many more years on JMs contract?  Oy oy oy!

    ‘Cogito ergo doleo’

  235. Sheldon says:

But, that is one of the major tenants of The System.

  236. Chuck says:

If they don’t get better, Carey shouldn’t be the one to suffer.

  237. Chuck says:

    I like the optimism!

  238. Keith says:

I agree 100% with you. Yeah, I heard the guy and I thought to myself, these people love to say, “I told you so”, when something happens.

  239. Chuck says:

They’ll need extra-long showers. That one was grimy.

  240. Number31 says:

    Word of the day: cafouillage

    That was the defence.

  241. Chuck says:

We got a point BECAUSE of him. If he wasn’t sharp, we wouldn’t have even got a whiff of overtime.

  242. Chuck says:

The System needs an oil change. When your goalie plays that well, there should be no excuse for not getting two points.

    And yet…

  243. TripleX says:

I should have been more clear.  I am suggesting Carey will be worn out over the season if he has to face that many shots.

    ‘Cogito ergo doleo’

    Full Breezer 4 Life

  245. Keith says:

Only 777 post and the site crashes. This shouldn’t happen. Just like the horrible calls at the end that cost us the game.

  246. kempie says:

How’d that truculence work out for Colton Orr tonight?

  247. SUMO says:

Does Scott Gomez have nude pictures of JM? Heres an idea Jacques, why not let Lars Eller centre Gio & Pouliot? Whats the harm of sending a message to the 7millions dollar man.

Refs sucked but I was more annoyed with how the D would simply collapse back 2 ft from Price. Typical & predictable JM hockey. 79more games to go.

  248. Xtrahabsfan says:

Come on Dawg ….Halak was under the same circumstance last year and WON……Enough with the Excuses! We traded the wrong Tender ,period . Price is good but we need GREAT!

  249. Big Bird says:

Couple of cents from the peanut gallery:

    (1) Price played really well.  He just got no support.  He bears no fault here.  This isn’t a Halak versus Price thing.  Get over it.  You hate the trade?  Spew your venom at the General Manager and Management.

    (2) The penalty to PK Subban was questionable.  But before you start raging on him remember he’s a young defenseman and we have to take the good with the bad.  He’s the brightest defensive prospects we’ve had in years.  Be patient.

    (3) I look at Tampa Bay and shake my head at how we let a promising coach like Guy Boucher go and we got stuck with Jacques Martin.  It kills me.  No more than the fact that Larry Robinson wanted to come here and coach our defense and we didn’t return his calls.  Not like a Hall of Fame, Norris trophy winning, Stanley Cup winning player/coach could have done anything to help young defensemen like Subban, O’Byrne and others in the system.  (Yes I’m still bitter about it.)

  250. darcy1 says:

and smelled like a rotting animal carcass

  251. Propwash says:

No he didn’t. How was Halak vs Philly???

Your Halak argument cant hold up in the real world. If he remained as stellar as he was vs Was and Pitts, the Habs would have been in the finals. Halak isn’t god’s gift to goaltending, let it go.

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  252. TripleX says:

JM has no strategy other than to hope the goalie saves his job.  When a team is consistently out hustled and outshot, who else is to blame?  When the roster is consistently NOT the best it could be?  Who else is to blame?  Why is Pouliot still on the second line?  Where is Ryan White who at least goes to the front of the net?  Why is Eller on a checking line?  How many more years left on JMs contract?

    ‘Cogito ergo doleo’

  253. Propwash says:

Boucher, I’m willing to let go, the NHL is a different animal compared to the AHL.

The whole Robinson thing was a definate boneheaded move as far as I’m concerned.

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  254. MathMan says:

The longer Montreal keeps Martin, the more they hurt themselves. It’s a damn shame in a way that Halak hauled his sorry ass to the playoffs and then hauled him to the ECF. The right hockey move was to fire Martin in the offseason and hang onto Boucher or, at least, find a coach with an understanding of modern hockey.

Once again, the Habs’ goalie is making Martin look much better than he is. If Price isn’t stellar, the Habs are 0-3.

I’ve refused to believe that a team with the talent on Montreal’s roster is a lottery team, but I think it’s a definite possibility. At the very least, until the system changes, this is not a playoff club.

  255. JVSmith says:

And how do you define great? Price standing on his head making 40+ saves again? Not enough for you? Go cheer on St. Louis please, Price was great tonight. I don’t want to start the debate but he played 60 minutes and played them well. Other people need to step up before we start to criticize Price again.

  256. MathMan says:

At which point, I wonder, do people in the media and the organization start quesitoning the Habs’ coaching, I wonder? It’s still as awful as it was last year. Do we wait until it gets so bad that even stellar goaltending fails to keep the team out of thelottery?

  257. sidhu says:

Just watched this game on my DVR:

    – Price had another excellent game, that’s two in a row for him
    – we’re giving up WAY too many shots, esp in the first period
    – Spacek cannot hit the net with a shot for his life
    – ice seemed to be a problem for both teams
    – Gio/Gomez are still pretty invisible
    – PK had an up and down night, the slashing call against him was total b/s
    – the top line is back in playoff form
    – our PP needs to be adjusted – perhaps replacing Benny with Eller will help, or using 4 forwards instead of Spacek

  258. larisalapointe says:

You are like a squeaky door.

  259. Shiloh says:

Price played well – but the sad thing is he has to stand on his head for us to win. Jacques Martin is an offense killer – unimaginative, plodding. He rolls four lines so much that no player seems to be able to get in a flow. He doesn’t seem to come up with possibilities – like putting Eller with Gomez and Gio.

And – Gomez was an awful acquisition. He eats up far too much salary for a Number 2 centre.

I think we can turn it around, but agree with many here that Martin probably should be reassigned.

  263. jbroderi says:

boucher and yzerman may be very good at their jobs, but let’s make them earn it before we give TB so much respect.  I think we underestimate how important it is to have basically 2 scoring lines and 2 functional, high energy lines.  Last year it really hurt us, not roling 4 lines.  I think that it will make a difference this year, and guys like Pleks and Gomer should be more fresh in the third when we need them!

  265. Lafrich says:

Are you talking about tonight’s game, or a past one…

  266. TommyB says:

And now from the what else is new department……..What!  No home-opener coverage of the Habs on CBC?  Oh, yeah, I know, the Habs were on last week with the Leafs for their home-opener (one sickening opening show that was).  Of course that counts.  The CBC demonstrated that they are not anti-Habs.  They had them on for the season opening night.  We all are adult enough to realize that it wasn’t all about the Toronto Maple Leafs…..right?  God bless RDS!

  267. forskis says:

Calm down…it is no big deal really…by us complaining all the time about CBC’s coverage it makes us appear to be the whiners much of the League thinks we are.  Besides, it is a Wed. night, CBC rarely if ever shows a game and they did not show the home opener for every Canadian team.  Also, the Ott-Mon game is the national telecast since Leafs have no game this Sat.  And their coverage is bad only if there were no local telecast on Sat. night for Quebec and whatever other parts of Canada they decide to send the feed to.

So you know…take it easy…CBC is accused of enough conspiracies and bias by everyone else…they really do not need anymore.

“I am guilty of using elipses…”

  268. Chuck says:

I was at the season opener, so I didn’t get to see the CBC’s pre-game show. Was it as awkward as the Leafs’ opening ceremonies were?

  269. G-Man says:

That “water” sequence was pure sappiness wrapped in saccharine. As if laffs water could put out the Habs torch. It was so stolen from the Habs brilliant torch touching center ice routine I felt sorry for the laffs marketing department

  292. TommyB says:

Calm down?  LOL, Really?  You actually think I am so upset that I need to calm down?  Who do you think I am…YOU?  I never said anything about any so-called conspiracy.  I merely stated how sickening CBC’s hockey coverage is, and how totally slanted to Toronto it is.  That is just a fact.  Not conspiratorial.  I would have liked to see this game telecast in English tonight, whether it be on CBC or TSN.  But, you know how that goes. I just read Red Fisher’s article in the gazette’s hockey inside/out. the man has to know when to call it quits, and that time has passed! I used to enjoy reading what he had to say but now it’s just a pain. He disses gomez for scoring only “12 goals and 51 points” but gomez put up 59. He also called Andrew Ladd (thrashers) “alan ladd.” I know he’s forgotten more about hockey than I know…but I also know that I know more about hockey today than he does. how can he make a prediction of who’s going to make the playoffs when he doesn’t even know the name of the players or the stats of the team he’s covering??

Red doesn’t bother to keep up with the times…not once did he mention in his article what Price said to elliotte friedman and did not give Price any sort of support now that Price said he’s going to be working hard. Red turns a blind eye to price’s consequent work ethic from last year and a possible increase in work ethic for this year. He just disses Price, saying he’s not good enough, and won’t be good enough (as per cracking under the pressure from last year, and receiving more pressure this year).

It’s time to hang up the old typewriter Red!

Not likely, they have a decent team. If they don’t get any injuries on D, they might make the playoffs.

  318. joeybarrie says:

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  319. Chuck says:

Price still hasn’t seen that one.

  320. Shiloh says:

Pouliot – meet Max. Lars – go play with Gomer and Gio.

  321. andrewberkshire says:

Officiating is terrible tonight. Tons of phantom offsides and weak calls.

  322. JIMVINNY says:

Time to get the PP going. Need to quell the Tampa momentum.

  323. topher5468 says:

lets go boys, pop the PP cherry already

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  324. andrewberkshire says:

    Hate the PP without Markov.

  325. Xtrahabsfan says:

Price was good till that moment….if he wasn’t so  far back and on his knees he wouldn’t be so stationary….

  326. petrov14 says:

    Great save, Price!

    ______________________________________ Long live Captain Gionta.

  327. Aerobiz says:

Someone should tell him that he can’t score from there.

  328. topher5468 says:

The shutout one or the PP one , or both

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  329. Chuck says:

You are truly an idiot… or have poor eyesight. Take your pick.

  330. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    blah, blah, blah.

  331. kempie says:

    Halak would have had that

  332. EricInStL says:

mmmm Toronto is better than last year. This year they start off with Kessel, solid goaltending and Phaneuf, makes a huge difference

  333. HFX-HabFan says:

Somehow I doubt you’ve ever played goaltender in your life.

  334. JIMVINNY says:

That’s ridiculous. Get off your Price hate. He had no chance, standing, or in the butterfly. When a goalie can’t see a shot, he covers more of the net when he goes down.

  335. RGM says:

    You and me both. LOL

A goal would be nice though for the Pro-Line.

    Go Habs Go!

  336. Propwash says:

Just curious, where do you go when Price makes 2 insane saves after that?

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  337. EricInStL says:

    He’s in a PM pool….

  338. Puck Bard says:

    Grab another beer, armchair jockey.

  339. kempie says:

Dumbest comment on the page so far.

  340. Habies says:

It’s 7:29am here in YAngoon. I have the miners on BBC and some bread on my plate. Haven’t read or heard much today, but I have to say that yes, this is the dumbest thing I’ve read today.

  341. fuhgawz says:

why are you even here you contribute nothing to society and even less here

  342. Aybara says:

I think they say that cause the first cup was won before there was an NHL.

  343. topher5468 says:

Last year the ex canadien who does the games for the Florida Panthers said the H in the CH stood for habs, I cant’t remember his name

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  344. Kaptain K says:

LOL the FOX sports guy just said the Habs have 23 stanley cups hahahahaha

  345. joeybarrie says:

    BOONE……………… WHY BOONE????????//  WHY?????

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  346. Aybara says:

    Seriously!! WHat was he thinking!

  347. pathockey1 says:

Wasn’t Teddy Purcell MVP (or close) of the AHL a couple of years ago and at a time considered one of the LA Kings’ top prospects?

  348. HFX-HabFan says:

I’m pretty sure that’s who the Bolts got from LA at the deadline last year for…Jeff Halpern!

  349. spoonfullofjelly says:

I was noticing that too, one time I think it was Hedman came down and Price was waaaaaaaay out past the crease.

  350. Aybara says:

What I’m really liking is the way Price is challenging the shooters tonight. He’s coming way out of his crease and it’s cutting down the angle so players have to shoot for the low percentage corners. It reminds me of how he played when he broke into the league.

  351. pathockey1 says:

aha its true! I didn’t realize it 😛

  352. SeriousFan09 says:

Pierre Groulx’s the goalie coach, who worked with Craig Anderson in FLA before the Avalanche made the steal of 2009 free agency and got him to push them into the playoffs.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  353. kempie says:

    I’d say that’s pretty accurate.

  354. sholi2000.com says:

“trade me right now, you henglish piggged dog”  😉

    They Call Me Shane

  355. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Yup, he seems to be VERY confident and playing a very simple game and with his size and talent it’s working for him.  So nice to see, and kudo’s to the goalie coach who’s been working with him.

  356. Chuck says:

I’m guessing that you missed the last game, eh?  😉

  357. t1tan5 says:

Nice reaction by Carey prevents a goal.

  358. HabFanSince72 says:

Gagné was floating the whole way on the Pleks goal.

  359. JIMVINNY says:

Price is playing great right now.

  360. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Wow, so nice to see Price stick it to the basher’s.

  361. Puck Bard says:

I’m beginning to see what Price is all about. Will reserve comments until game 10 or 20.

  362. Shiloh says:

    Hammer is rusty.

  363. HabFanSince72 says:

How about that Guy Boucher system!!!

  364. andrewberkshire says:

Is it just me or does it look like Price learned something about fighting for the puck down low from Halak last year?

  365. habfab14120 says:

Mike – I think thus far tonight I like our Top 6 more than Tampa’s.

  366. t1tan5 says:

    I’d wait til mid season.

  367. punkster says:

TB hasn’t shown me much tonight.

  368. Mr.Hazard says:

SO refreshing to see Price on top of his game!!

  369. topher5468 says:

Good back check by Benny, good work Benny

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  370. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    Great first period.

  371. HFX-HabFan says:

If we play the next 40 like we did the first 20, this one is in the bag.

  372. Danno says:

Price is back in the saddle again.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  373. oshawahabsfan says:

    Bonne period boys!

  374. t1tan5 says:

Holy crap. We’re going to have to seriously try to cut down on their shots. 17 SOG!

  375. nickster13 says:

I think Pleks has the best pound for pound slapper in the league. thoughts?

  376. kempie says:

yeah, last year that goes in on Price.

  377. mdl says:

Nice first period.  Price is keeping the puck out, making timely saves.  This version of the Habs can really skate!

  378. SeriousFan09 says:

Habs enjoying a serious depth advantage, Tampa’s D pairs and Checkers are outmatched.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  379. HardHabits says:

Chicken sh*t. Unlike brave me using the *.

  380. Shiloh says:

If/when he takes us farther than Halak, he’ll have made a statement. He’s playing well, and I hope he keeps it up all season.

  381. _Habsoloutly_ says:

It’s obvious he has worked hard in the off-season.  He seems to be tracking the puck very well.  His talent is starting to come thru in his play and it’s fun to watch.

  382. VJ says:

Is anyone using the Bell app tonight?? Mine doesn’t want to connect

  383. HabsMitch says:

    Tomas Plekanec is the man

  384. sholi2000.com says:

I wonder how many were from the pp?

    They Call Me Shane

  385. Propwash says:

Crap, I missed a good first period???

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  386. Rugger says:

Biggest difference I am seeing this year is the aggressive two man and sometimes three man fore-checking.  No more sending in just one to skate around the net and chase from behind.

  387. RGM says:

    Weird, usually it’s the nail.

    Go Habs Go!

  388. sholi2000.com says:

    So far so GREAT!

    They Call Me Shane

  389. Chuck says:

Carey with 17 saves already. That’s more than the number of shots that you-know-who faced in his entire last game.

  390. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    baby steps Shiloh, baby steps.

  391. Chuck says:

That’s a GREAT change. Nevermind our own blue line… I want the other team to have a tough time gaining their own blue line!

  392. andrewberkshire says:

Agreed 100%, loving his body language and the fight he’s displaying this season.

  393. habs001 says:

17 shots and many missed shots by tampa seems to indicate our d is outmatched

  394. _Habsoloutly_ says:

I remember when Anderson was here.  I saw a few games of his in nets with the Cat’s.  He was impressive.  I remeber thinking wow the Panthers have two good goalies now.

  395. SeriousFan09 says:

It’s their Top 6 that’s generating everything, when those guys aren’t on the ice they’ve got nothing.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  396. joeybarrie says:

LOVE PLEKS…….. But that goal was served to him on a platter by a hooters chick from CAMMI.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  397. habaholic68NJ says:

Price is tracking the puck well tonight.

Tampa defense and bottom six look vulnerable.

Need to stop with our dumb penalties and start working with our own power play.

Pouliot playing a great physical period.  AK46 looks awake also, as much as he can.

  398. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    lol!  it’s true.

  399. Harani says:

Guy Boucher as Le Chiffre from Casino Royale. Uncanny resemblance no?

    “It must be love!”

  400. Danno says:

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  401. HardHabits says:

…finished of by a belly flop.

  402. Chuck says:

    …with a half-rotation and a pike.

  403. Aerobiz says:

That’s a nasty scar on Boucher’s cheek. If he had Yzerman’s tailor he could pass as a Bond villan.

  404. JIMVINNY says:

Yzerman’s build might be the deciding factor.

  405. oshawahabsfan says:

30 shots in the period, firewagon hockey at its finest. I love it

  406. RGM says:

It’s the rarely employed double-reverse Boone jinx.

    Go Habs Go!

  407. scrowe21 says:

    way to jinx price, boone.

  408. Keith says:

    Alright let’s go!

  409. Puck Bard says:

Do I remember Roger Doucet? I never forgot him.

  410. Keith says:

He was great and so were those Hab’s teams from 76-79. I remember it well…

  411. VancouverHab says:

Mr. Berkshire: congratulations on the well-deserved feature.

(An undergrad in PoliSci at a State university? – well that explains the direction of your political slantings ;–)

Look forward to your continuing good Habs sense & optimisim here on H-I/O.

  412. HFX-HabFan says:

So, do we think they’ll take the ice to “Fix You”?

  413. Chuck says:

What’s the over/under on the number of syllables that AK46 utters during this seasons’ pregame ceremonies? With his brother now playing for Nashville, and now only one Kostitsyn on the team, I say that he sticks to the minimum: 3.

  414. captaink4life says:

    An-drei Kos-tit-syn

You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku

  415. HabsMitch says:

Oy Oy Oy…I know I’m in the minority but I simply love Benoit lol

  416. Chuck says:

I dunno… I think that he gets even more efficient this year and just sticks with ‘Kos-tit-syn’.

  417. WestHab says:

You don’t need to be a Bell customer to vote for the 3 starts. You can do it online at the Habs official web site. Albit if you are with Bell you can have 2 votes. One by cell one on line.  I don’t like the idea but damm if I’m not going to have my say if everyone else is.

  418. Keith says:

    I wish they’d START THE F*&^ING GAME!

  419. Harani says:

    Drop the friggin puck!

    “It must be love!”

  420. Habstilidie says:

    I’m dying here already!

  421. Puck Bard says:

Harani, I can appreciate it. Cammalleri is a very sexy man.

  422. oshawahabsfan says:

Considering Downie isn’t really a top-six forward, yes Boone there is likely a better top-six in the conference

  423. kempie says:

I probably shouldn’t do this but I’m gonna try it:

    6-4 Habs.

Lots of goals tonight because of the Bolts’ stacked top 6 and their AHL defence.[

  424. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Man Price was good against Pitt’s.

  425. Puck Bard says:

Contre Lecavelier, St Louis et Gagne au Bell?

  426. oshawahabsfan says:

I wish they’d stop talking. I want to see what’s going on behind them

  427. SeriousFan09 says:

I swear Muller just got louder applause as an assistant coach than Drew Doughty got in the LA Kings opener last night.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  428. Puck Bard says:

    Class, class all the way.

  429. Propwash says:

  430. _Habsoloutly_ says:

    Nice touch with Gio.

  431. JIMVINNY says:

    Max Laperierre? What a disaster.

  432. Just A Guy says:

oh this must be getting painful for Gio

  433. oshawahabsfan says:

I like the intro by the captain, a good change on the usual intros

  434. Propwash says:

    Markov is playing???

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  435. Keith says:

    Wow, great intro!

  436. danedmunds says:

gio needs more lessons.. that was painful

  437. JIMVINNY says:

Yeah. painful is right. Love the effort, though.

  438. Puck Bard says:

Ya, but he hung in there. It was nice.

  439. yathehabsrule says:

    and it begins!

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  440. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

    Nice to see Hamrlik back.

Very encouraging to see Markov back in skates and uniform.

  444. punkster says:

    Good for you Captain.

  445. Barts says:

Great job by Gionta, that had to be tough.

  446. Chuck says:

    Well done, Gio!!!

  447. SeriousFan09 says:

Habs still rule the day on game ceremonies, take note NHL.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  448. HFX-HabFan says:

Might have just “suited up” to be in the intros…Hammer, O’Byrne and Picard were all in full uni as well, so I’m thinking Markov is still out.

  449. spoonfullofjelly says:

Gio…..he’s the boss. Sure that was brutal. A+ for effort…..

  450. Matt_in_TO says:

Kudos for Gio for trying.  I’ll chalk the butchering up to nerves.

Why were there still boos for Carey?  I just don’t get it.

    – In Price We Trust

  451. Garry Valk says:

    Brian Gionta is balls.

  452. Habies says:

Max LAperriere and Benoit Puyet…  Loved it here on the netradio in Myanmar. Top props to the org and to the Captain for that intro.

Still not feelin’ Gomer wearin’ 11, but certainly feelin’ us having a Captain again.

  453. oshawahabsfan says:

A for effort by the captain, that couldn’t have been easy. That was equilvalent of doing public speaking after your first year of french in elementary school

  454. Puck Bard says:

    Ooooo! The bitchin’ Gilmour pic!

  455. JIMVINNY says:

I should have added a smiley face. It was intended as a good-natured “disaster”.

  456. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Cant resist someone playing a strat in a habs uni.

  457. punkster says:

Nice to see you back Matthew.

Great Job…really classy…Gionta should be proud!

  460. Harani says:

I love our fourth line.  I honestly feel confident this year that any line we throw out there is capable of starting something.

  491. Just A Guy says:

Like dseeing Subban keeping his man boxed out even after the whistle. Keep that crease clean. hehe

  528. kempie says:

Yes, every one of them… even AK and it’s still October! Too bad “O’byrne” is quickly becoming a verb. Other than that, I’m loving it.

Cammy?? Whats up with him lately?

AND CUTOS TO GIONTA THAT GUY KNOWS WHAT HE HAS TO DO IN THIS TOWN. His french was good….. well, A for Effort?

  533. _Habsoloutly_ says:

I disagree,  Price has played very well so far this season.  He seems to be tracking the puck very well.  I don’t think he’s been getting the credit he deserves.  Looks like he worked hard on his game in the off-season.

  534. andrewberkshire says:

He’s got his one dumb penalty per game over with, hopefully he’ll settle down now.

Tampa is getting lots of shots and we arent getting any anymore, somethings gotta change

  541. MikeMcLaren says:

I’m digging the PK Subban tap the stick on the ice fake slapshot followed rapidly by a slapshot from the point.  He dinged the crossbar against Pittsburgh with that.  It’ll be great when it goes in.

  560. HabFanSince72 says:

  614. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

    I hate this coach.

  616. Exit716 says:

Pouliot will be playing beer league hockey in St. Isidore in a year.

  617. punkster says:

I like Gomez. Always looking to make the right pass. He needs some finishers to step it up.

PK…like I said earlier, he looks like a rookie. A good rookie but a rookie nonetheless.

  618. t1tan5 says:

Looks like Bouchers scar is actually a skin graft. Random, I know.

  619. JIMVINNY says:

Cammalleri played that entire shift like he was scared of getting a penalty. Not a good way for him to play.

  620. Shiloh says:

Gomez is a 3rd line centre – his salary is an anvil.

  621. Chuck says:

I’m pretty sure that the phrase “skin graft” has never appeared on HI/O.

  639. VancouverHab says:

He’s a first line centre getting paid like one, adding elite-level vision & setup play plus relentless workrate to the team. That setup to & miss by Pouliot says it all.

I’m not trying to defend Max, but how did the guy who dropped the gloves and jumped him after the hit NOT get a penalty? Not even a 2 minute?

  672. t1tan5 says:

Who cares if he turned his back in this situation? I understand when the guy has no time to pull back, but Laps cross-checked Downie straight in the back and sent him to the boards. That’s cheap no matter how you look at it.

  705. JIMVINNY says:

At the speed at which the play with Laps and Downie evolved, I think it’s clear that Laps initiated the hit before Downie turns away. Yes, still a penalty, but not suspension worthy. It was more of a shove than a cross check, and it was way too late for Laps to stop himself.

  706. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Agree.  Looks bad on the replay, but it was just a hockey play.  Pretty soon guy’s will be getting suspended for looking at each other the wrong way.

This is the same crap as last season. We get completely dominated from beginning to end and only our goalie is keeping us in it.

  721. Chuck says:

    Orr got Komisarwrecked.

  722. _Habsoloutly_ says:

MacArthur has played very well for the Laff’s so far.  About the only thing Burke has done well with this franchise.

  723. yathehabsrule says:

Just saw Michael Moore on Larry King Live talking about the Chilean miners rescue. Wonder what conspiracy theory he builds out of this!

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  724. dpthehabsfan says:

Don’t know what Pleks has been puting in his Wheaties over the summer, but he’s picked up some serious speed. Been noticing it since the ex. season started.

Not that he wasn’t fast before, but he’s gained at least 1/2 a gear this year.

  725. solomio says:

Hope you guys have said it already. Habs played a great first period. Not so much the second.

Apart from several individual bone head or weak plays Habs looking pretty good.

As is usually the case a goal will be scored during the first minute of the third while the Habs are on the penalty kill.

Bolts will keep coming strong. We MAY be able to pull this one out of the fire. Carey has kept us in it. Smith is a pretty damn good goalie.

Looks like Subban wants a go at Hedman. That’s prolly not wise.

  726. PrimeTime says:

How does that get posted on You Tube that fast???? Orr really took on good one LOL

  727. punkster says:

Got no kids at home so no distractions. Clickin’ at lightnin’ speed baby!

  728. yathehabsrule says:

Fox Sports just broke down the Clark goal. Price had absolutely no chance to see that, with Malone in front and two Habs defenders in the line of fire.

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  729. Chuck says:

The only way Price will see that goal is on a replay after the game.

  730. _Habsoloutly_ says:

Wow, Price has really taken things seriously and played well.  Cat-like reflex’s.  Good for him.

  731. Puck Bard says:

The truth? Big business is (again) invisible.

  732. yathehabsrule says:

    Yes sir!

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  733. EricInStL says:

Orr was winning then stopped to take the helmet off the other guy since it was in his face. If he wanted he could of continued and hammer away but I guess he won’t do that again.

  734. JIMVINNY says:

Seriously. Pouliot just cannot catch a break.

  735. Matt_in_TO says:

Ok it’s not too early to start juggling lines.  The second line needs a LW.  Move Eller there now!!!

  736. topher5468 says:

I’ve seen just about enough of Pouilot, he’s awful

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  737. HFX-HabFan says:

Maybe PK has bad blood from the WJC gold medal game where Hedman acted “tough” by putting Angelo Esposito in a massive headlock.

  738. Shiloh says:

Moore tells more truth in a minute than Fuxx News tells in a decade.

  739. Puck Bard says:

Wake up HIOers, Habs will win or lose on the margins, they’re never going to dominate. That goes for the majority of teams that will compete this season. It’s a different model.

  740. HabFanSince72 says:

We didn’t play a great 1st period. Gave up 18 shots, took a couple of dumb penalties, got completely over-run.

  741. HFX-HabFan says:

    EGG Line: the next generation!

  742. yathehabsrule says:

Kostitsyn not much better. Moen has replaced him on the Plekanec line.

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!

  743. JIMVINNY says:

Okay, Martin. Time to realize that sit back hockey is a bad idea.

  744. Rugger says:

what happened to the forecheck that was so good in the first two?

  745. topher5468 says:

Good for you Moen, get Moore out of there
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  746. SeriousFan09 says:

I think someone tampered with the skate sharpening equipment or something, strange Habs numbers falling down tonight.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  747. dpthehabsfan says:

At least it looks like Pouliot is trying… AK looks like he doesn’t even like playing hockey.

  748. EricInStL says:

Trend building up here of teams taking runs at PK. We have to protect him.

  749. Chuck says:

Tough to blame him for that miss. The puck didn’t come to him in a decent shooting position.

  750. SeriousFan09 says:

First real offensive chance and they can’t finish, ARGH.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  751. Danno says:

    Clutch save.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  752. Shiloh says:

Martin gives them about 40 seconds to get something going and then he changes lines. How can they get any flow?

  753. Propwash says:

True, but I’d feel a bit more comfortable if they put a bit of a cushon.

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  754. Habhopeful says:

ya just seen it, great fight but man thats the most perfect angle in slow motion lol

  755. Rainrocket16 says:

That Penalty on PK in the 3rd was BS!! Staright up! Officiating overall was brutal! How the hell does a guy drop his gloves and not get a penalty.

Enough about the penalties our D needs to close out a game better than that!

Price “Utterly blameless”? 99% of the game I can agree with that, you just don’t drop down on your face to cover a puck unless you know you got it when you land. I will not attack Carey however, it is hard when your D is flying all over in front of him like ghosts on Halloween!

  756. Keith says:

A perfectly good game shot to hell in the last two minutes on a chintzy call and a bunch of non-calls by the opposition. Very pissed off right now. This better not cost us a playoff spot in the end. I won’t soon forget this game, and I hope the players feel the same way.

    WHAT A F&%$ING JOKE!!!

  757. dpthehabsfan says:

Good God…what have they painted on Mario Tremblay’s face on L’Antichambre?

  758. geo_habsgo says:

I wouldn’t worry about the Leafs too much guys. They are playing great hockey at the moment but they are a team full of tough grinders that are overachieving at the moment. Thats not to take anything away from them cause a win is a win but once the skating teams get their legs back in the next month or so the Leafs are going to take a pounding. Leafs cant keep the pace up past midseason.

  759. EricInStL says:

Kessel was out for a good part of the start, and they didn’t have Phaneuf and their goaltending was a mess. They have a decent team that will compete with MTL for the 8th spot…..

No one will take a run at Kessel, as for taking runs against MTL players, look at the way they hit PK….

  760. geo_habsgo says:

That is true about how no one will take liberties with the leafs. Tough to acknowledge that anything Brian Burke does is a positive. We have some tough guys in the pipeline though I’d wait it out. Our team is gonna be better than a bottom feeder looking for a playoff berth I’m sure of that.

  761. twilighthours says:

Subban was just awful tonight.  Awful.  However, I hated that penalty call with 2 minutes left.  What a joke!

  762. RJB says:

I’m angry for a number of reasons: Price deserved way better than that and it makes me angry that our D goes ahead and seemingly takes the night off. I’m angry at the refs for making that utterly moronic call on P.K resulting in the equalizing goal. I’m angry because we lost. And most of all I’m angry because I cannot believe I am so worked up over the third game of the season..

But mostly the refs, those guys suck.

“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”

  763. DOAHABS says:

    colis collapse………..fire everyone

  764. 21BIGGionta says:

    a few comments;

Price was GREAT, solid all that noise that everyone who knows hockey knows…

    Why hasn’t that happend yet!?

Why was o’byrne out there. yes he’s a solid hitter but one thing i’ve noticed over the last couple of years with him. he juggles with the puck, plays with it before he passes, giving the other team time to cover players or forcheck him. i can’t wait for Marky to be back so oby can sit his ass in the press box (sorry for my language)

NHL refs; this is HORRIBLE someone with authority needs to shed some light on the poor calls or the not calls.

Anyways im pissed this is the third game and i was already pulling my hair out.

  765. Chuck says:

Did Malone get his first star selection for his trip of Boyd in the slot? Just wonderin’…

Canadiens battled back from 2-0, but a third period miscue – AK46 being mystified by Patriuck Kane – led to Patrick Sharp’s winner.

Not as bad as Pittsburgh, but another road loss to a good team.
