If people think this is bad, read up what the Vancouver Canucks have been doing to avoid putting any of their guys on the ice in a pre-season game, they’ve brought in a lot of guys just on Pro try-out deals to avoid putting their own skaters out there.

Geoff Molson says all the right things: he will be informed but not involved in hockey decisions, the rebuilding program is finished and he is optimistic about the future in the near and longer term, he leaves Collective Bargaining issues to the NHL, and he participated in the online ticket sale to see how it works for the fans, but had to jam out early because his sons had hockey games to play and he needed to leave. Excellent work, in flawless French.
I had fears when Mr. Gillett bought the team, but he turned out to be a benevolent owner who was amply rewarded for his professional stewarship as owner, and my fears were unfounded. I rejoiced when Mr. Molson’s group won the bidding for the Canadiens, it is a good sign that the family with deep roots in Montreal and which has had a long, productive association with the team is back in the owners’ box. Our new team president seems a long way removed from clowns such as George Steinbrenner, Harold Ballard or Claude Brochu, our national legacy is in good hands.
